MAKING IT IN LA
MAKING IT IN LA is a new reality television series about ambition, identity, motherhood, neurodiversity and the courage it takes to pursue a dream in one of the most competitive cities in the world. The series brings together autistic model Brittany Taylor and Matilda Dahlin known as the “Modern Marilyn Monroe” and the mother of an autistic daughter, as they navigate Hollywood, fashion and their deeply personal connections to autism. Inspired in part by People’s magazine’s broader reporting and conversations surrounding mental health and autism, as well as insights from Hollywood public-relations figure Michael Levine, who has spoken about his experience with dyslexia, the show seeks to move beyond labels and allow its subjects to tell their own stories. The debut episode opens with an intimate and candid conversation between Brittany and Matilda in which Brittany reflects on being diagnosed with autism at age 24, the emotions and realizations that followed, the ways she has learned to understand and cope with the challenges she experiences, and how being autistic has shaped the woman and model she is becoming. For Matilda, the conversation carries another dimension as a mother raising an autistic daughter, creating a powerful exchange between two women whose experiences with autism are different yet deeply connected. Brittany Taylor also shared with Matilda about her passion for modeling and preparing to cast with @moshpitshawty model for New York Fashion Week and interview with Miss Jessica Martin of @7777.media who is a also a mother of an autistic child. At its heart, MAKING IT IN LA is not simply about making it in Hollywood. It is about being seen, understood and given the opportunity to succeed without having to erase the qualities that make each person unique.
