What does it really mean to be meek? Is meekness actually weakness, or is it something much more powerful? And what does it look like to fully surrender your life to God? In this week's episode of SeeKing Podcast, Adam sits down with Ryan Miller for a powerful conversation about meekness, surrender, spiritual growth, suffering, obedience, hearing from God, and what it means to live completely submitted to Jesus.
Ryan explains why Jesus' description of Himself as "meek and lowly in heart" completely changed the way he understood meekness. He shares how a season of failure, financial struggle, anxiety, and uncertainty led him into a deeper pursuit of God—and how the Holy Spirit used the imagery of a wild mustang to reveal what biblical meekness really means. Ryan explains why meekness isn't weakness, but rather becoming fully surrendered to the One who holds the reins of your life.
Adam and Ryan also discuss the difference between surrender and submission, why God sometimes uses wilderness seasons to refine us, and how suffering can draw us closer to Him. They explore what it means to lose ownership of your career, family, ministry, finances, and future and trust God with every part of your life.
The conversation then turns to what it means to bring heaven to earth. Ryan explains the biblical meaning behind words like gospel, evangelist, and apostle and challenges Christians to live out their faith wherever God has placed them. Adam and Ryan also talk about staying present, fighting distraction, setting our eyes on Jesus, and recognizing the things in our lives that may be keeping us from Him.
Ryan shares powerful stories of God using his obedience—including a video that appeared to perform poorly but ultimately reached a woman who was on her way to get an abortion. He also shares the story of how God confirmed that he and his wife were expecting their fifth child after Ryan prayed for direction about having a vasectomy.
Throughout the conversation, Ryan challenges Christians to stop asking, "What do I want?" and instead ask, "God, what do You want?" Because when we surrender our lives to Jesus, we can walk in the freedom, courage and purpose that come from knowing He is in control.
