00:00:00
Speaker 1: If you could walk through the interception and just your feelings afterward.
00:00:04
Speaker 2: We got those plays in practice. The coach did a great job scheming it up for us. So he called the perfect call for us. We all talked and we communicated on my side of the ball, and I just made it happen.
00:00:16
Speaker 1: What are your emotions or anything like that after being able to get an interception your first career?
00:00:21
Speaker 2: It felt great, but I was on to the next play. That happened in the second quarter, so I had to finish the game.
00:00:29
Speaker 3: Was there any sense of relief, though, finally getting that first interception.
00:00:33
Speaker 4: You know, after so long? Yeah, a little bit.
00:00:37
Speaker 2: Interceptions aren't great to catch, but I was focused on winning the game and just continue to focus on the next play.
00:00:43
Speaker 3: What was, I guess, the sense on the sideline early, too, when Drake May lost that fumble and you guys got the ball going? Did that kind of sort of get you guys going a little bit in terms of spark the.
00:00:54
Speaker 4: Defense a little bit?
00:00:55
Speaker 2: Uh for me i know he he tried me a couple times so i was just in there saying i'm getting too close to the ball i gotta get me one so you know we just continue to just do what the coaches schemed up for us and we just played our best ball.
00:01:06
Speaker 5: Today travis you guys talked a lot this week about just the response and how intentional you were in practice and what does it say for you guys to put forth that kind of performance after that mess we.
00:01:19
Speaker 2: Practiced hard we made it hard on ourselves this week we made sure we didn't have no mistakes. We continue to just grind and just continue to go out there and just show the practice squad that y'all can't get anything on us. We're not going to let y'all do anything because we had to be better this week.
00:01:38
Speaker 1: Travis, you had the one.
00:01:40
Speaker 6: Last week where you almost get it. And then to get the one today, just kind of, do you take a second to think about what those last 10 months were for you and kind of your journey to be on the field and, you know, even be able to get that pick today?
00:01:54
Speaker 2: Nah, I ain't got no time to be reflecting on my journey. Just got to continue to be focused, focused on where my feet are and just go out there and play. The coaches picked me out there for a reason, so I just got to go out there and just do my job.
00:02:04
Speaker 6: And then in training camp, you talked about how close you and some of the other DBs have gotten. What was it like to see Jari and get his today?
00:02:10
Speaker 4: It was great.
00:02:11
Speaker 2: I was on the sideline, so when I came, I had to strap up my helmet and make sure I didn't get no flag, but I had to go celebrate with him.
00:02:19
Speaker 7: I don't believe you're someone who keeps receipts, but you're going back to Cincinnati where many thought it was a bad call against you a year ago. How much will that come up, if at all, going into play the Bengals?
00:02:32
Speaker 2: I just got to go out there and do my job, put myself in the best position so I ain't got to worry about the cost.
00:02:40
Speaker 1: Going down at the one, what was your thought process sort of there?
00:02:44
Speaker 8: Yeah, I was, you know, the whole drive was kind of like, Tried to put together a good drive, but it was a four-minute thought, so we got down there. And so when I, like, broke free and no one tackled me, it was just... It's something we talk about all the time, potentially, in those situations, like going down, keeping the clock running. That was too much time. So I looked at the clock after, and I'm like, there's still eight minutes left. So it was probably unnecessary there, but just trying to, like, eat as much clock as possible.
00:03:10
Speaker 4: They used the timeout after that. Trying to give them as few chances as possible to get back in the game, so... But.
00:03:17
Speaker 8: you know, if you do the analytics, people will probably be all over it online, I'm sure. It probably wasn't the best decision, but we scored the next play.
00:03:25
Speaker 4: So, you know, whatever. Give Basial a touchdown. That's cool. Let him get in the end zone. Exactly.
00:03:30
Speaker 1: But just in terms of the rebound this week, being able to bounce back, how important was that for you guys? And how did you feel like you guys played on offense?
00:03:37
Speaker 8: I thought we played really well. You know, I think played really complimentary. Our defense played great. Had some huge turnovers they came up with, some big stops. You know, held them in the red zone. It was awesome. So I think we really fed off of that. We were able to score when the defense made a big play and get us the ball. And then I thought on offense, obviously the first two drives, we didn't get much going, but after that we settled in. I thought we had a great plan. It seemed like the run game stuff was really clean. When it wasn't hitting for big runs, we were very efficient moving the ball forward. I thought in the passing game we did a really good job of getting completions, taking stuff underneath, not a bunch of crazy things down the field this week, but some of the things they were doing on defense was kind of the reason for that. I thought guys did a great job after the catch, and some of our guys made some unbelievable plays.
00:04:24
Speaker 4: So it was really cool to see those guys just go and do their thing.
00:04:27
Speaker 3: It's a big day for Jacoby against his former team. Did you feel like that kind of meant something to him today?
00:04:35
Speaker 4: I think so. I mean, to be honest, I don't think it really meant any more. I mean, maybe it did. You'd have to ask him.
00:04:40
Speaker 8: Then any other one, I think he always is just super dependable, comes to play. plays with that edge. I mean, he made some awesome plays today. So I'm sure there is a little bit extra there for him against his former team.
00:04:51
Speaker 4: You always want to play good. But, yeah, I don't know. I thought he did an awesome job though today.
00:04:56
Speaker 3: What did Liam say to you after the kneel down when you got to the sideline?
00:05:01
Speaker 4: I don't think he said anything. I don't know. I don't really remember. It wasn't anything, nothing crazy. Maybe he did say something. I don't know. But everybody was just kind of making fun of me. Yeah, I maybe overthought that one just a little bit.
00:05:14
Speaker 8: Trevor, that 15-play, eight-and-a-half-minute drive, two third downs of Jacoby right there.
00:05:20
Speaker 1: How important is he in those kind of situations where he knows where to go and when.
00:05:23
Speaker 3: To be there?
00:05:24
Speaker 8: He's really good. Very dependable. Like I said, we have a lot of chemistry. Trust him to be in the right spot at the right time. I think he knows defenses, too, and coverages. He knows what he's looking at. Seems like he just has a really good feel and makes plays on the ball, makes some tough contested catches. Then he had a great In the red zone, the one he caught was probably he caught it like four or five yards, and then it was third and 11, so he went and got it after the catch. So able to do those things as well. So he was great. He was big in those situations.
00:05:59
Speaker 7: Trevor, Wednesday we talked about they'd only allowed four at 21, third down conversions, only eight rushing first downs this year. You guys shattered that today with 10 first downs on the ground and eight on third down. What does that mean for this football team to do this against a really good defense?
00:06:19
Speaker 4: I think it's just the next step for us.
00:06:21
Speaker 8: It's week three, and it's just our chance to respond and play better offensively and just cleaner, execute better than we did last week. I thought we did that against a good defense, like you said.
00:06:33
Speaker 4: It's NFL.
00:06:34
Speaker 8: Every week, even if it's a team, statistically, it's not a good defense. You've got to bring it every week. I think that's a great example today. We were just ready to play. We had a great plan. Guys were flying around. At the end of the day, that's what it's about is the players executing the plan.
00:06:48
Speaker 4: You've got to have a good plan.
00:06:50
Speaker 8: I feel like we did, but it's about us going out there and owning it and playing fast and attacking.
00:06:54
Speaker 4: I thought we did all those things today.
00:07:00
Speaker 3: The job Chris and Basil did today and how the run game was able to kind of control things for you guys.
00:07:06
Speaker 8: Yeah, they did an awesome job. I thought we stayed on track. We didn't have a ton of second and longs, not too many third and longs either, so I think that was a big part of the game. It never felt like we were living in drop back and just having to try to throw at every play. We were able to be really consistent, efficient, running the ball on first and second down, had some really tough, good runs, and then some explosive ones as well, so I think that is kind of the key, right? That's how you want to play football, is to be able to And then you can get to all your stuff. It's not like you're just having to drop back and throw it every single play to get back on track.
00:07:40
Speaker 4: You can stay efficient. So it was a good example of that today.
00:07:44
Speaker 9: I apologize if this was previously mentioned, but with today's performance, you are now second in franchise history in all-time passing touchdowns. Just one of many accolades for you, but does that in particular mean anything to you, of course?
00:07:57
Speaker 8: Yeah, I mean, it's super cool just to, you know, been here for a while now and been through a lot. And I think just to... to be on that list with those guys. Obviously, there's some great names there, and it's cool. I think it just shows the direction we're headed, and hopefully we'll be first here soon. I don't know how far I am behind Brunel, but, yeah, 40-something?
00:08:17
Speaker 3: Yeah.
00:08:18
Speaker 4: So, yeah, love that, right?
00:08:20
Speaker 8: But, yeah, I think, obviously, a lot of respect for those guys and some great ones before me, and it's cool. It just shows there's been a lot of hard work put into it, so we've got a lot more to do, and the future is definitely bright, so excited for it.
00:08:31
Speaker 4: Thank you, guys. Appreciate it.
Speaker 1: If you could walk through the interception and just your feelings afterward.
