Speaker:
00:00:01
Hello everybody and welcome back.
2
00:00:03,832 --> 00:00:05,823
This is the Creative Collaboration Show.
3
00:00:05,823 --> 00:00:11,685
I'm Chuck Anderson, your host, and this is our show for big impact entrepreneurs.
4
00:00:11,685 --> 00:00:24,350
Those entrepreneurs and coaches and consultants and service providers that are on a
mission, not only to make money in their business, but to make a big impact in the lives
5
00:00:24,350 --> 00:00:28,642
of people and their businesses and really the world.
6
00:00:28,642 --> 00:00:31,473
And, you know, one unique thing about
7
00:00:31,739 --> 00:00:37,583
our community is that we want to see the world be a better place.
8
00:00:37,583 --> 00:00:40,844
And we do that through the work that we do.
9
00:00:40,844 --> 00:00:48,329
Now, today's guest is someone who I've known for about 10 years.
10
00:00:48,329 --> 00:00:50,119
We met in a very unique way.
11
00:00:50,119 --> 00:00:58,134
If you've ever felt like you were just in the right place at the right time, that is where
I met this individual.
12
00:00:58,134 --> 00:01:00,379
And we're gonna be talking about something very
13
00:01:00,379 --> 00:01:11,227
important because along the way on this journey and making the big impact, sometimes we
feel stuck and we need a breakthrough or our clients need a breakthrough.
14
00:01:11,227 --> 00:01:14,619
And that is what we're going to talk about today.
15
00:01:14,619 --> 00:01:17,351
So my guest is Patrick Dominguez.
16
00:01:17,491 --> 00:01:28,927
He is this is what he specializes in is helping big impact entrepreneurs with their own
breakthroughs, but also to pass those breakthroughs along to their clients.
17
00:01:28,927 --> 00:01:31,367
and just all around great guy.
18
00:01:31,367 --> 00:01:44,307
I met him back in 2015 when he was the co-founder of the Big Shift with Bill Barron and
they were, I think, five million dollar company at the time.
19
00:01:44,587 --> 00:01:47,987
And it was so funny because I was at a marketing conference.
20
00:01:47,987 --> 00:01:51,447
I was going up, there was nobody around, it was a ghost town.
21
00:01:51,887 --> 00:01:55,167
I was going up one escalator, he was coming down the other.
22
00:01:55,167 --> 00:01:57,480
I asked him for directions and now,
23
00:01:57,480 --> 00:02:02,654
and then we became friends, we went for lunch and here we are 10 years later, Patrick on a
podcast.
24
00:02:02,654 --> 00:02:05,019
So, so glad to have you here.
25
00:02:05,656 --> 00:02:11,628
So good to be with you here today, Chuck, and hello everybody in the audience today.
26
00:02:12,659 --> 00:02:26,307
Yeah, this is a really important topic and I know that this is something that, mean, gosh,
going all the way back to when I first met you, this is the work that you have been doing
27
00:02:26,307 --> 00:02:36,494
is helping entrepreneurs who are on this mission to make a big impact, to build and grow
their businesses.
28
00:02:36,494 --> 00:02:39,017
really, how do you create...
29
00:02:39,017 --> 00:02:49,662
breakthroughs in your clients business and but sometimes you're in need of your own
breakthrough and I think I'm very excited to dive deep into this topic and a great place
30
00:02:49,662 --> 00:02:57,925
to start Patrick I did the very light introduction maybe share share your story with
everyone here and we'll go from there.
31
00:02:58,350 --> 00:02:59,371
Yeah, sounds great.
32
00:02:59,371 --> 00:03:10,417
So this topic of wanting to accomplish something in your life and feeling stuck is
something that I intimate knowledge with.
33
00:03:11,198 --> 00:03:19,823
It actually started when I decided to leave the corporate world, sort of the world of
bigger business, and to put up my shingle as a coach.
34
00:03:19,823 --> 00:03:26,158
And it was 2007, I was living in San Francisco, and I decided I just need a totally
different direction.
35
00:03:26,158 --> 00:03:29,780
from what I've been doing and I wanted to be more hands-on working with people.
36
00:03:29,981 --> 00:03:42,059
And so I put out my shingle as a coach and even though I had had five previous positions
as a director of marketing for different companies, when it came to marketing myself as a
37
00:03:42,059 --> 00:03:45,891
coach, I was super stuck.
38
00:03:45,891 --> 00:03:51,194
And the reason, really the big reason was I had this paralyzing fear of public speaking.
39
00:03:51,275 --> 00:03:56,088
I managed to kind of skate by in the world of bigger businesses because I was mostly not
40
00:03:56,088 --> 00:03:59,740
presenting to strangers, mostly like a small project team or whatnot.
41
00:03:59,740 --> 00:04:09,726
But when it came to being out in public, networking or any kind of speaking, I would just
be paralyzed with fear and just avoid it massively.
42
00:04:09,726 --> 00:04:16,450
Even being at a networking event, doing a 15 second intro, I'd be dripping with sweat and
like practically panicking.
43
00:04:16,830 --> 00:04:23,434
And so of course, the conventional wisdom is if you're launching your coaching businesses,
get in front of people.
44
00:04:23,621 --> 00:04:23,971
right?
45
00:04:23,971 --> 00:04:26,971
Network, speak, put yourself out there.
46
00:04:26,971 --> 00:04:30,986
And I just had this deep fear of doing all those things.
47
00:04:30,986 --> 00:04:38,911
And so my first year in business as a coach, Chuck, I was barely bringing in any clients
because I was just so afraid of getting in front of people.
48
00:04:39,285 --> 00:04:44,367
And since that time I've seen that's actually common with a lot of coaches and other
practitioners.
49
00:04:44,367 --> 00:04:51,490
And so when I started to get really clear, like, okay, I'm getting in my own way here.
50
00:04:53,051 --> 00:04:58,393
I started seeing different coaches, different practitioners who try to help you with this
fear.
51
00:04:58,533 --> 00:05:02,550
And so much of the support I got was either...
52
00:05:02,550 --> 00:05:11,486
mindset, you know, fake it till you make it or show up as the six figure coach and so
forth or accountability.
53
00:05:11,486 --> 00:05:17,056
A lot of powerful coaching tools, but they just didn't make the fear go away.
54
00:05:17,056 --> 00:05:17,286
Right.
55
00:05:17,286 --> 00:05:20,297
And therefore I was avoiding marketing myself.
56
00:05:20,297 --> 00:05:22,838
And so one day I met this brilliant
57
00:05:23,208 --> 00:05:30,298
magician who actually helped me go to the fear itself and then
58
00:05:30,298 --> 00:05:34,540
basically make that fear go away in a very healthy sort of way.
59
00:05:34,540 --> 00:05:36,421
And then I had a speaking engagement.
60
00:05:36,421 --> 00:05:40,483
In fact, I really didn't have any speaking engagements because I was avoiding them.
61
00:05:40,483 --> 00:05:52,030
But I had one that came up after this with 120 people in the room and I got on stage and
it was surreal, Chuck, because I felt so comfortable, so relaxed.
62
00:05:52,030 --> 00:05:52,495
It was like
63
00:05:52,495 --> 00:05:54,255
like being at a party.
64
00:05:54,355 --> 00:06:00,518
and after that talk, people came up to me and said, hey, how did you learn how to be a
public speaker?
65
00:06:01,039 --> 00:06:07,282
And it was the weirdest thing, but just this really deep transformation had happened.
66
00:06:07,282 --> 00:06:11,264
And so afterwards, I just thought, okay, that's life changing.
67
00:06:11,264 --> 00:06:20,809
And I went on to speak quite a bit, and I think you may know about this, but ended up with
my business partner, Bill Barron, we spoke on lots of big stages, and we started having
68
00:06:20,809 --> 00:06:22,830
our own events with hundreds of people.
69
00:06:22,830 --> 00:06:24,750
So it was a game changer for business.
70
00:06:24,750 --> 00:06:33,710
It was also just a game changer, I think, for my own inner liberation, going from someone
who's kind of afraid of people, including groups of people, to being comfortable with
71
00:06:33,710 --> 00:06:37,170
people, empowered to support people.
72
00:06:37,210 --> 00:06:40,690
And so after that experience, I got fascinated.
73
00:06:40,690 --> 00:06:47,630
I wanted to know, so how did that person do something that all these other coaches and
other practitioners weren't able to do?
74
00:06:47,630 --> 00:06:49,470
So I went to study with him.
75
00:06:49,470 --> 00:06:51,670
I went to study NLP.
76
00:06:52,649 --> 00:07:01,438
And then I just started to see, working with the inner stuff instead of trying to work
around it or avoid it.
77
00:07:01,438 --> 00:07:04,078
was having huge changes in my life.
78
00:07:04,078 --> 00:07:10,578
I started working on my relationship stuff and the ways I was avoiding fear of losing love
in a relationship.
79
00:07:10,578 --> 00:07:14,858
I started working with health stuff like resisting exercise and so forth.
80
00:07:14,878 --> 00:07:22,348
All the inner stuff I just started working on with my tools and just saw so many amazing
transformations.
81
00:07:22,348 --> 00:07:23,891
and result in my life.
82
00:07:24,868 --> 00:07:30,925
Wow, I can relate to so much of that story Patrick, mean especially the part of
83
00:07:31,007 --> 00:07:36,890
of not being able to stand up and promote yourself, the fear of being on stage.
84
00:07:37,010 --> 00:07:45,214
A lot of people don't believe me because they see me on stage talking a lot, but I was
very introverted when I first started.
85
00:07:45,214 --> 00:07:50,156
I was a former computer programmer where I just worked in a closet all day long.
86
00:07:50,436 --> 00:07:54,278
And then when I first got invited to speak, I'm like, are you kidding me?
87
00:07:54,278 --> 00:07:57,770
I would literally wake up in cold sweats with that.
88
00:07:57,770 --> 00:07:59,920
So I can relate to a lot of that.
89
00:08:00,801 --> 00:08:11,448
through my own journeys of breakthrough on that to now where I thrive on being on stage, I
thrive in being in those situations, I crave it, right?
90
00:08:11,448 --> 00:08:18,351
And that's the exact opposite of how it was 20 plus years ago, probably 25 now.
91
00:08:18,792 --> 00:08:21,193
So amazing.
92
00:08:21,474 --> 00:08:30,309
So let's talk about a little bit about what you're doing now in terms of the work that
you're doing and who you're serving.
93
00:08:30,860 --> 00:08:45,272
Yeah, I'm currently working with coaches, holistic practitioners, healers, other types of
practitioners, people who mostly work with other clients one-on-one or in groups, helping
94
00:08:45,272 --> 00:08:52,148
clients create some sort of positive change in their lives, in their business, in their
health, their relationships and so forth.
95
00:08:52,188 --> 00:08:59,060
And so I'm training practitioners, coaches, healers, holistic practitioners, et cetera.
96
00:08:59,060 --> 00:09:05,052
in tools to be able to help their clients break through any sort of inner resistance.
97
00:09:05,213 --> 00:09:10,755
And then oftentimes people come to me because they're wanting to shift their own inner
resistance.
98
00:09:10,935 --> 00:09:22,820
And the reason why this is so important is anytime someone's working towards a new goal,
something they haven't done before, a lot of my clients are entrepreneurs, so mostly I'm
99
00:09:22,820 --> 00:09:24,591
working with people on business goals, right?
100
00:09:24,591 --> 00:09:26,574
So they're wanting to grow their business.
101
00:09:26,574 --> 00:09:29,816
They're wanting to grow their income, their impact and so forth.
102
00:09:29,877 --> 00:09:36,763
Anytime you're working towards something new you haven't accomplished before,
automatically there's resistance that goes along with it.
103
00:09:36,763 --> 00:09:40,025
So there's goal and there's resistance, they go together.
104
00:09:40,025 --> 00:09:42,407
It's like the yin and the yang.
105
00:09:42,407 --> 00:09:50,093
And so a lot of people are so focused on the goal, they're ignoring the fact that there's
actually a lot of resistance there.
106
00:09:50,174 --> 00:09:55,488
And as they're working towards the goal or not working towards the goal, it's kind of like
this.
107
00:09:55,488 --> 00:10:06,217
resistance is this invisible elephant in the room that oftentimes the people I'm working
with they're not aware of and perhaps the coaches or other practitioners they're working
108
00:10:06,217 --> 00:10:08,119
with are not aware of as well.
109
00:10:08,119 --> 00:10:18,778
And so I'm kind of on a mission to say, right now, 90 plus percent of coaching is focused
on the external, right?
110
00:10:18,778 --> 00:10:19,638
What are your goals?
111
00:10:19,638 --> 00:10:20,789
What are your action steps?
112
00:10:20,789 --> 00:10:23,221
What are your accountability structures and so forth?
113
00:10:23,221 --> 00:10:24,672
All very important.
114
00:10:24,717 --> 00:10:26,155
but it's missing the other.
115
00:10:26,155 --> 00:10:29,217
which is what is going on on the inside.
116
00:10:29,437 --> 00:10:37,343
And I remember years ago, listening to these tapes from Tony Robbins, where Tony Robbins
said that 80 % of success is our inner psychology.
117
00:10:37,343 --> 00:10:40,645
And at the time, I massively poo-pooed that.
118
00:10:40,645 --> 00:10:42,316
I thought, well, what about the strategies?
119
00:10:42,316 --> 00:10:43,317
What about the actions?
120
00:10:43,317 --> 00:10:45,928
Isn't it taking action the main thing that matters?
121
00:10:46,089 --> 00:10:53,914
But then when I got completely stopped by my own inner psychology, right, my fear of being
seen, my fear of public speaking,
122
00:10:54,072 --> 00:11:04,214
then I saw, when you're completely stopped by something on the inside, that's the main
thing to focus on in the moment, not the thing to avoid.
123
00:11:05,061 --> 00:11:07,112
Yeah, that's very, very powerful.
124
00:11:07,112 --> 00:11:13,786
And it's not always easy to see on our own.
125
00:11:13,786 --> 00:11:22,141
And I think that's definitely the power of having a coach and having that that opportunity
to to to have a look.
126
00:11:22,141 --> 00:11:23,142
Let's look under the hood.
127
00:11:23,142 --> 00:11:24,533
Let's see what's going on here.
128
00:11:24,533 --> 00:11:26,284
That's really the cause.
129
00:11:26,284 --> 00:11:31,487
Because and to your point, so many of us are looking for the new tactic.
130
00:11:32,095 --> 00:11:39,141
and the strategy and how do I become 10 times more productive than I am now?
131
00:11:39,142 --> 00:11:43,084
And sometimes, a lot of times actually, that's the wrong question.
132
00:11:44,887 --> 00:11:48,450
Or we look in the wrong direction to be able to achieve that.
133
00:11:48,450 --> 00:11:51,972
Now, what are you hearing when people come into your world?
134
00:11:51,973 --> 00:11:53,484
What's the conversation?
135
00:11:53,484 --> 00:11:54,475
Are they...
136
00:11:54,727 --> 00:12:03,142
Talking to you more from the perspective of helping their clients with their breakthroughs
or are they coming you directly going, Hey, I have this issue.
137
00:12:03,142 --> 00:12:04,213
I need this help.
138
00:12:04,213 --> 00:12:05,563
What's the journey there?
139
00:12:05,563 --> 00:12:08,625
What's how does that conversation usually go?
140
00:12:08,920 --> 00:12:14,372
Yeah, so, well, you know, I wanna tell a little story that kinda really just was
enlightening for me.
141
00:12:14,533 --> 00:12:24,597
So, back when I was running the business, The Big Shift, together with my business partner
Bill, we had over 100 clients in a year-long coaching program with us, and we had hundreds
142
00:12:24,597 --> 00:12:26,838
of clients in smaller programs with us.
143
00:12:26,918 --> 00:12:36,172
And when you're working at that sort of scale, you just can't miss the number of people
who are not taking action, right, and who are not getting results.
144
00:12:36,630 --> 00:12:48,773
I remember just being frustrated by like how could so many people be investing a thousand
dollars over ten thousand dollars and not taking action and so I Was coaching a bunch of
145
00:12:48,773 --> 00:12:57,776
people in our programs and so I just noticed a lot of people Had a fear of being invisible
right or a lot of people had money blocks, right?
146
00:12:57,776 --> 00:13:06,458
People with money are bad or if I if I make too much money, I'm gonna lose the love of my
family for example and so
147
00:13:06,518 --> 00:13:12,060
I just heard all these things came up and I had this one client who came to the very first
session with me.
148
00:13:12,060 --> 00:13:17,301
told me, he said, Patrick, one thing you need to know about me is I'm a self-sabotager.
149
00:13:18,181 --> 00:13:21,002
And I didn't even know what he was talking about.
150
00:13:21,562 --> 00:13:30,815
know, because I come from the business world where, you know, you don't really have a lot
of that sort of self-sabotage because you wouldn't really have a job, you know, after a
151
00:13:30,815 --> 00:13:32,886
few months if you weren't taking action, right?
152
00:13:32,886 --> 00:13:34,746
So he told me...
153
00:13:34,808 --> 00:13:37,539
He was a self-sabotager and I said, what do you mean by that?
154
00:13:37,539 --> 00:13:43,030
And then he told me, and I realized I don't have the tools to help this person.
155
00:13:43,030 --> 00:13:45,781
I really don't know what to do with this sabotage.
156
00:13:45,781 --> 00:13:49,762
The only thing I knew how to do was a lot of the conventional coaching stuff.
157
00:13:49,762 --> 00:14:00,425
And so after encountering a number of people who were really stuck in some sort of way, I
decided to go on a quest to figure out how do I help these people as much as I can help
158
00:14:00,425 --> 00:14:04,088
people with things like clarifying their niche and clarifying their.
159
00:14:04,088 --> 00:14:08,600
their premium packages and helping them with their sales conversations and so forth.
160
00:14:08,600 --> 00:14:13,342
And so I did, I spent 10 years learning some of the top healing modalities.
161
00:14:13,342 --> 00:14:17,063
I got certified in five trauma healing modalities.
162
00:14:17,804 --> 00:14:20,135
Some of the greatest tools for transformation in the world.
163
00:14:20,135 --> 00:14:31,910
I learned a hundred different healing techniques and I basically took a lot of what I
learned from the world of healing and sort of shaped it so that it works really well in
164
00:14:31,910 --> 00:14:33,206
the world of coaching.
165
00:14:33,206 --> 00:14:42,529
And so one of my mantras now is that healing is a new coaching and that you can bring
tools from the healing world, integrate them into coaching so that you're working with
166
00:14:42,529 --> 00:14:46,830
clients not only on the outer stuff, but the inner stuff.
167
00:14:46,830 --> 00:14:52,161
And so one of the things I've just started noticing, you were asking me what am I noticing
when people are coming to me?
168
00:14:52,161 --> 00:15:03,374
Well, even back then when people were coming for business coaching, just I noticed in the
first consultation or the first few sessions, so many clients would say, or would say,
169
00:15:03,426 --> 00:15:05,406
I think I'm getting in my own way.
170
00:15:05,687 --> 00:15:07,807
Or, I think I'm hitting an inner ceiling.
171
00:15:07,807 --> 00:15:10,068
Or I'm upper limiting.
172
00:15:10,068 --> 00:15:11,989
Or I'm feeling really stuck.
173
00:15:11,989 --> 00:15:14,149
Or I just can't seem to get clear.
174
00:15:14,149 --> 00:15:25,282
And those are all different ways of saying there's something going on inside where I'm
resisting, I'm avoiding moving forward or getting clear in my business.
175
00:15:25,282 --> 00:15:31,594
And so what I used to do early on in my coaching career was try to move around that.
176
00:15:32,234 --> 00:15:33,685
Okay, you're procrastinating, great.
177
00:15:33,685 --> 00:15:45,330
Well, let's just talk about your goals and your actions and kind of hope that we could get
people motivated by their vision and their goals and then that would counterbalance any
178
00:15:45,330 --> 00:15:47,160
sort of inner resistance.
179
00:15:47,681 --> 00:15:53,143
And for some people who are like super driven and so forth, that can work pretty well.
180
00:15:53,143 --> 00:15:59,226
But for a lot of clients, when there is that more deep seated fear and there's actually
other
181
00:15:59,274 --> 00:16:00,545
sources of resistance too.
182
00:16:00,545 --> 00:16:02,495
We could talk about that later if you like.
183
00:16:02,856 --> 00:16:10,856
But when there's a real deep unconscious driver and oftentimes it's a protective energy,
right?
184
00:16:10,856 --> 00:16:14,781
I'm going to avoid being visible out of protection, for example.
185
00:16:14,781 --> 00:16:20,243
I'm going to avoid offering my services out of protecting myself from rejection, for
example.
186
00:16:20,243 --> 00:16:28,046
So when there were these deep unconscious protective mechanisms trying to protect us from
the very things we're wanting to accomplish in our business,
187
00:16:28,280 --> 00:16:38,013
trying to go around them is the hard way, and that's what I did a lot as a coach, because
that client ends up having this inner conflict or this inner battle.
188
00:16:38,013 --> 00:16:46,735
Part of them wants to move forward towards their goals, but part of them wants to keep
them safe and sort of in the same place.
189
00:16:46,775 --> 00:16:56,238
And so you see clients come in oftentimes who tell me, and I'm sure you've seen this Chuck
too, where they're saying, man, I'm working so hard right now, but not getting anywhere.
190
00:16:56,238 --> 00:16:58,528
And it's because they are working a lot.
191
00:16:59,659 --> 00:17:04,261
but they're putting their foot on the gas pedal and on the brake at the same time.
192
00:17:04,261 --> 00:17:10,465
So it feels like a lot of work, a lot of stress, a lot of overwhelm, and sometimes not
very much progress.
193
00:17:10,465 --> 00:17:21,461
And so ideally what we want to do as a coach or a healer or holistic practitioner working
with people is help people take their foot off the brake, okay?
194
00:17:21,461 --> 00:17:27,444
Because if you think about it, if you have 100 units of energy or life force, you can put
195
00:17:27,444 --> 00:17:38,734
into your business, your work, your mission, and 50%, let's say 50 of those units you're
putting into moving forward, but 50 of those units you're putting into staying in the same
196
00:17:38,734 --> 00:17:45,170
place, well then a lot of your energy is going out, but not resulting in movement.
197
00:17:45,981 --> 00:17:47,665
Wow, that is extremely powerful.
198
00:17:47,665 --> 00:17:54,870
And what's the level of awareness do you think that entrepreneurs have that they're even
doing that?
199
00:17:56,192 --> 00:18:14,268
I think the awareness is a lot lower than it needs to be because oftentimes these forms of
resistance have a way of being invisible to our own psyche because the protective
200
00:18:14,268 --> 00:18:17,401
mechanism work better if we can't see them.
201
00:18:17,401 --> 00:18:23,288
So that's why so oftentimes people have blind spots and
202
00:18:23,288 --> 00:18:26,716
That blind spot is a way of also keeping oneself safe.
203
00:18:26,716 --> 00:18:32,158
Like if I'm not aware of this way I'm holding myself back, I'm not gonna try to change it.
204
00:18:33,395 --> 00:18:37,727
Yeah, and I think that this definitely has symptoms.
205
00:18:37,727 --> 00:18:47,601
And you mentioned some of them already, such as you're working as hard as you can or
really maxing out, but not feeling like you're really getting anywhere.
206
00:18:47,622 --> 00:18:52,544
Or there just seems to be this ceiling that you can't really get past.
207
00:18:52,544 --> 00:18:58,927
Are there any others that you're noticing that are really powerful symptoms of what's
going on?
208
00:19:00,206 --> 00:19:01,447
And it there.
209
00:19:01,447 --> 00:19:07,028
Yeah, there's definitely people Oftentimes people focus on well if I'm stuck.
210
00:19:07,028 --> 00:19:19,324
I'm like you said I'm gonna try to learn more I'm gonna try to work harder and a trap a
trap I've been I Want to use a more benign word, but I've been it myself But there is kind
211
00:19:19,324 --> 00:19:26,997
of the trap or the I call it the pattern of being in this cycle of personal development
Which is I'm gonna keep reading personal development books.
212
00:19:26,997 --> 00:19:28,918
I'm gonna keep growing myself
213
00:19:29,002 --> 00:19:34,624
And if I do that, I'll be able to then be the person who can do the thing.
214
00:19:34,624 --> 00:19:40,905
And there's some kernel of truth to that, but it doesn't necessarily lead to shifting that
inner resistance.
215
00:19:40,905 --> 00:19:46,327
So I am a big advocate of, yes, by all means, let's grow, let's step into more personal
power.
216
00:19:46,427 --> 00:19:56,059
But I think trying to learn more or work harder can be another way of avoiding working
with the resistance.
217
00:19:56,059 --> 00:19:58,410
And so that's kind of like
218
00:19:58,444 --> 00:20:03,446
when I'm talking to people and I'm giving talks to groups, that's kind of mistake number
one.
219
00:20:03,446 --> 00:20:15,461
If someone's wanting to get past being stuck, getting past their resistance, mistake
number one is just really working with their conscious mind to learn more or work more.
220
00:20:15,641 --> 00:20:21,003
And it actually can often aggravate that inner conflict because that resistance will dig
in even more.
221
00:20:21,003 --> 00:20:26,846
So that's kind of like the first mistake, if you will, think people make when they're
trying to get unstuck.
222
00:20:26,846 --> 00:20:28,586
And so the second one,
223
00:20:29,030 --> 00:20:39,653
is kind of related to the first one, which is only engaging with the situation with the
conscious mind and not looking at what's happening at the unconscious level.
224
00:20:39,653 --> 00:20:40,473
Okay?
225
00:20:40,473 --> 00:20:43,674
So a lot of coaching happens at the conscious level.
226
00:20:43,674 --> 00:20:49,926
Goals, action steps, accountability, homework, and so forth.
227
00:20:49,926 --> 00:20:53,957
Of course, those are all valuable, but it's only half of the picture.
228
00:20:53,957 --> 00:20:56,558
And so when I'm training
229
00:20:56,558 --> 00:21:06,601
coaches and other practitioners in my tools, I'm giving people tools to look at and
discover what's going on there in the unconscious mind.
230
00:21:06,601 --> 00:21:17,924
And so, for example, I had a person who came to me last year because she was really
avoiding sales conversations and having sales with potential clients.
231
00:21:18,224 --> 00:21:19,664
And she didn't know why.
232
00:21:19,664 --> 00:21:24,886
And that's very common that people feel stuck in some area of their business but they
don't know why.
233
00:21:24,886 --> 00:21:26,286
And so I've developed this
234
00:21:26,286 --> 00:21:36,139
process called the inner resistance discovery method and in 10 minutes or less people can
understand what's blocking them and why it's blocking them.
235
00:21:36,139 --> 00:21:37,969
It's very powerful.
236
00:21:38,029 --> 00:21:48,472
You still need to transform the resistance but I believe that knowledge is power and to
know why you're because stuck is a symptom, procrastination is a symptom, sabotage is a
237
00:21:48,472 --> 00:21:49,213
symptom.
238
00:21:49,213 --> 00:21:51,423
There's always a deeper reason.
239
00:21:51,423 --> 00:21:54,094
There's always a deeper root cause.
240
00:21:54,414 --> 00:21:59,994
And so when you can have awareness and awareness of what that root causes, then you can
shift it.
241
00:21:59,994 --> 00:22:10,174
And so that's why I provide people with tools to get under, kind of like lift the rock and
see what's under the rock.
242
00:22:10,174 --> 00:22:11,694
I think you said that earlier.
243
00:22:11,694 --> 00:22:15,614
And it reminds me of this great quote from Carl Jung I have right here.
244
00:22:15,654 --> 00:22:23,294
Until you make the unconscious conscious, it will direct your life and you will call it
fate.
245
00:22:24,573 --> 00:22:29,196
Wow, that is an extremely powerful statement.
246
00:22:29,196 --> 00:22:34,760
Until you make the unconscious conscious, you will, what did you say?
247
00:22:34,760 --> 00:22:39,433
You'll call it fate.
248
00:22:39,633 --> 00:22:40,754
Wow.
249
00:22:40,954 --> 00:22:45,357
And there's so many other words that we would call that like manifestation.
250
00:22:45,357 --> 00:22:52,372
And especially in our world where these are the words that we use or attraction and all of
that.
251
00:22:52,372 --> 00:22:53,803
And so we
252
00:22:54,463 --> 00:23:04,346
And a lot of times we're trained to look at everything that's happening in our world to be
a positive thing that's there to benefit us, even if it sucks.
253
00:23:05,647 --> 00:23:12,529
But what you're just saying here is like, still could be something unconscious going on.
254
00:23:12,529 --> 00:23:18,050
We're choosing to see it as a positive thing, but it could be so much better maybe, right?
255
00:23:18,050 --> 00:23:27,445
Yeah, well, you since you brought up the law of attraction, I think one of the big flaws
of the law of attraction, and I've been to events with Esther Hicks and Abraham, and
256
00:23:27,445 --> 00:23:37,661
there's so many beautiful teachings there, but I think one of the biggest missing pieces
there is, again, it's mostly focused on the conscious mind and conscious intention, right?
257
00:23:37,661 --> 00:23:46,285
And so Esther Hicks and Abraham talk about, you know, having rockets of desire, being
really clear on what your desire is and putting that out into the world.
258
00:23:46,285 --> 00:23:47,946
But what they don't talk about,
259
00:23:47,946 --> 00:23:53,689
is what if there's an unconscious part of you that wants the opposite of your desire?
260
00:23:54,370 --> 00:24:02,214
Right, so you may have an unconscious desire to get into loving relationship, but there
might be a part of you that's afraid of getting close to somebody else.
261
00:24:02,715 --> 00:24:11,820
And so one of the things that's so often missing from the law of attraction is the fact
that we have unconscious parts of us that may have counter intentions to our conscious
262
00:24:11,820 --> 00:24:12,821
intentions.
263
00:24:12,821 --> 00:24:15,520
And the law of attraction, for the most part,
264
00:24:15,520 --> 00:24:21,793
is often focused just on the conscious intentions and not what's happening at a deeper
level.
265
00:24:21,793 --> 00:24:32,958
And so that's the third thing I wanted to mention today here, which is, and I used to be
this way too when I first started coaching, which is I thought of these inner sort of
266
00:24:32,958 --> 00:24:37,480
blocks or these areas of resistance as something to avoid.
267
00:24:37,480 --> 00:24:41,481
Like, look, just kind of go around that and let's just go for the goals.
268
00:24:41,602 --> 00:24:42,742
And now,
269
00:24:42,882 --> 00:24:55,432
when I see resistance come up with a client and usually happens in the first session or
two, I see that as perhaps their greatest opportunity for growth.
270
00:24:55,432 --> 00:25:01,156
It's literally like this gateway for transformation just presenting it right here.
271
00:25:01,217 --> 00:25:12,680
And so one of the metaphors I often use with clients is if you imagine having a treasure
map, whatever you're running into resistance, procrastination, sabotage.
272
00:25:12,680 --> 00:25:16,272
I don't deserve it and so forth.
273
00:25:17,253 --> 00:25:28,261
All the limiting beliefs that come up with people, I'm not enough, I'm not capable enough,
I can't handle this, it's not safe and so forth.
274
00:25:28,261 --> 00:25:34,606
To me, those are like an X on the treasure map saying, treasure is here.
275
00:25:34,606 --> 00:25:40,870
If you dig right here, this is where your greatest breakthrough lies, okay?
276
00:25:40,874 --> 00:25:53,389
And so to avoid that, whether you're the client or whether you're the practitioner working
with the client, it's a real shame to avoid that because that actually could be the
277
00:25:53,389 --> 00:25:57,921
greatest, the most life changing opportunity for that client.
278
00:25:57,921 --> 00:26:07,275
So for me, when I was able to shift that fear with the help of someone else, that changed
my life in so many ways forever.
279
00:26:07,275 --> 00:26:08,145
Right.
280
00:26:08,145 --> 00:26:10,186
Of course, it helped me.
281
00:26:10,711 --> 00:26:12,375
me become a better coach.
282
00:26:12,375 --> 00:26:13,438
It helped me make more money.
283
00:26:13,438 --> 00:26:14,178
helped me create.
284
00:26:14,178 --> 00:26:16,738
impact, it helped me have more of a lifestyle I wanted.
285
00:26:16,738 --> 00:26:29,198
But just as a human being or as a spiritual being, it created expansion like probably
nothing else I had done in the previous 10 years.
286
00:26:29,959 --> 00:26:30,920
Wow.
287
00:26:31,862 --> 00:26:35,096
I know we've only barely scratched the surface of this topic.
288
00:26:35,096 --> 00:26:39,611
I think we could probably do a full day workshop impromptu right now.
289
00:26:40,513 --> 00:26:45,679
And still not have uncovered everything, but you know, just.
290
00:26:45,755 --> 00:26:58,923
Speaking to the audience here, if this sounds familiar, these patterns and maybe there's
something going on that is preventing you from making the biggest impact possible with the
291
00:26:58,923 --> 00:26:59,694
work that you're doing.
292
00:26:59,694 --> 00:27:03,426
And I know you wanna make that big impact, cause that's why you're here.
293
00:27:04,046 --> 00:27:07,609
Then there's probably some next steps here.
294
00:27:07,609 --> 00:27:11,851
And Patrick is someone who can really guide you through.
295
00:27:12,143 --> 00:27:13,144
what those are.
296
00:27:13,144 --> 00:27:17,647
So Patrick, I know you have tools and this is the work that you do.
297
00:27:18,068 --> 00:27:26,835
What's the next step in terms of connecting with you and maybe working with you to let's
look under the hood and see what's going on.
298
00:27:27,438 --> 00:27:30,798
Yeah, so I just want to encourage everyone listening to this.
299
00:27:30,798 --> 00:27:39,638
If this topic is speaking to you, there are tools to uncover and get really clear on what
the inner resistance is.
300
00:27:39,638 --> 00:27:44,178
That's my blanket term for all the inner things that seem to stop us.
301
00:27:44,178 --> 00:27:47,218
And there are tools to transform it.
302
00:27:47,218 --> 00:27:53,138
And this can be done relatively quickly and in a relatively straightforward way.
303
00:27:53,138 --> 00:27:54,658
So my encouragement.
304
00:27:55,042 --> 00:28:05,060
whether it's for yourself or whether it's for the clients you're working with, is to not
avoid these things that come up, but see them as a gift for that person's transformation
305
00:28:05,060 --> 00:28:07,832
or for your own transformation and liberation.
306
00:28:08,313 --> 00:28:11,816
And so I have something for everybody today.
307
00:28:11,816 --> 00:28:21,123
So one of the most common ways that I see business owners get stuck, entrepreneurs get
stuck is procrastination.
308
00:28:21,324 --> 00:28:24,226
I had a client who came to me and he had literally,
309
00:28:24,226 --> 00:28:27,787
been wanting to launch his business for four years.
310
00:28:27,787 --> 00:28:40,161
He'd been procrastinating on launching it for four years and in one session I helped him
get stuck and he had a workshop in the next month and got his first two clients after four
311
00:28:40,161 --> 00:28:41,811
years of avoiding that.
312
00:28:42,171 --> 00:28:52,034
so procrastination is one of the biggest things that stops us and so I've created this
free guide it's called the perfect antidote to procrastination
313
00:28:52,354 --> 00:29:01,179
and you get two things, you get an ebook, but I think, it kind of guides you on how to
shift that procrastination, why it's even there in the first place.
314
00:29:01,179 --> 00:29:14,377
But even more valuable is you also get an hour long recording of me taking a group and
helping everybody in that group shift their procrastination energetically, getting to the
315
00:29:14,377 --> 00:29:20,630
root cause, discovering what the root cause, and then shifting the energy of the
procrastination during that session.
316
00:29:21,326 --> 00:29:31,765
I have someone who told me that they've listened to that session, that recording seven
times because every time they keep up leveling themselves and keep releasing something
317
00:29:31,765 --> 00:29:32,916
inside.
318
00:29:32,916 --> 00:29:35,268
And so I want to give you the link to that.
319
00:29:35,268 --> 00:29:38,350
That's inner coach dot com.
320
00:29:38,350 --> 00:29:39,461
That's my website.
321
00:29:39,461 --> 00:29:43,875
Inner coach dot com forward slash P.G.
322
00:29:43,875 --> 00:29:46,107
for procrastination guide.
323
00:29:46,107 --> 00:29:49,529
So inner coach dot com forward slash P.G.
324
00:29:49,730 --> 00:29:50,464
and
325
00:29:50,464 --> 00:29:54,317
in that guide and then I highly recommend the session.
326
00:29:54,317 --> 00:30:03,642
I'll guide you through my procrastination breakthrough formula and you'll have a big
breakthrough if there's some sort of procrastination or other sort of avoidance.
327
00:30:04,503 --> 00:30:10,026
Go through this session and I just would love for you to see what's possible and for you
to get unleashed.
328
00:30:10,765 --> 00:30:21,450
That sounds like a very powerful tool and guide and if you would like to grab Patrick's
guide right now, obviously you can go to the URL he just mentioned.
329
00:30:21,450 --> 00:30:26,532
If you're watching this on video, the link to that directly is right beneath this video.
330
00:30:26,532 --> 00:30:33,245
If you're listening to this on podcast, just look into the player on your phone and the
link is there.
331
00:30:33,305 --> 00:30:34,256
as well.
332
00:30:34,256 --> 00:30:47,066
Now Patrick, almost out of time here and and I just again so many awesome insights that
we've shared here today or we've you've shared for sure.
333
00:30:47,828 --> 00:31:01,379
While I have you here, I mean we've mentioned personal growth, it in lot of us on this big
impact journey are are are definitely connoisseurs of personal growth content.
334
00:31:01,719 --> 00:31:04,870
books have been a big part of that journey for me.
335
00:31:04,870 --> 00:31:15,914
I just wanted to check in with you if you have a favorite or a must read recommendation or
maybe one that you're a newer one that you're reading now because we like to leave our
336
00:31:15,914 --> 00:31:22,026
audience with some ideas of where they can they can go to learn next.
337
00:31:22,107 --> 00:31:23,607
What would you recommend?
338
00:31:23,640 --> 00:31:25,061
Yeah brought one with me actually.
339
00:31:25,061 --> 00:31:27,592
this is a book I have in my nightstand.
340
00:31:27,592 --> 00:31:32,396
It's called The Book of Awakening by Mark Nepo.
341
00:31:32,736 --> 00:31:38,320
And it's really cool because there is a page for every day of the year.
342
00:31:38,320 --> 00:31:40,862
And so you can just flip it open to any page.
343
00:31:40,862 --> 00:31:45,424
You can either find today's date or just flip it open to a random page.
344
00:31:45,445 --> 00:31:51,729
And each page is basically just a big source of inspiration.
345
00:31:53,418 --> 00:31:56,658
small awakenings and so it's great for inspiration.
346
00:31:56,658 --> 00:32:05,366
I like to read it before going to bed or if there's a day where I'm just like, hey, and a
little bit of a funk, it's a great source of inspiration.
347
00:32:05,651 --> 00:32:07,512
That's a really powerful suggestion.
348
00:32:07,512 --> 00:32:09,923
I've never actually come across that book before.
349
00:32:09,923 --> 00:32:17,976
And that's why I like asking this question on this podcast because I get to have exposure
to all this new work.
350
00:32:18,517 --> 00:32:19,648
I'm going to go check that out.
351
00:32:19,648 --> 00:32:22,999
That sounds like one I should have on my night table as well.
352
00:32:22,999 --> 00:32:25,705
So I really appreciate that.
353
00:32:25,705 --> 00:32:31,743
And for anyone else who would like to grab it, I'll put the link beneath this video and in
the podcast show notes there as well.
354
00:32:31,963 --> 00:32:33,864
Patrick, thank you so much.
355
00:32:33,864 --> 00:32:35,765
I am so grateful that we
356
00:32:35,765 --> 00:32:41,993
were able to reconnect and then also take the next steps of having you on this podcast.
357
00:32:41,993 --> 00:32:53,006
And I'm looking forward to other work that we get to do together, maybe some events that
we have coming up and who knows.
358
00:32:53,767 --> 00:33:01,587
I know we're both guys that are open to, you know, whatever serves us in our mission.
359
00:33:01,587 --> 00:33:03,770
And I want to speak to our audience for a second.
360
00:33:03,770 --> 00:33:07,025
I really hope that this has been inspirational for you.
361
00:33:07,025 --> 00:33:09,211
You know, we refer to you as Big On.
362
00:33:09,211 --> 00:33:18,098
impact entrepreneurs and I really want you to be able to make the biggest impact that you
possibly can with your work.
363
00:33:18,098 --> 00:33:29,678
Now time to time there's going to be obstacles and challenges that just seem like we can't
you know we can't get around and I want to encourage you if you feel like that reach out
364
00:33:29,678 --> 00:33:39,071
to Patrick get his guide that's a great first step and remember that there's no obstacle
too big to be overcome.
365
00:33:39,071 --> 00:33:51,091
And really, you might be just one collaboration away from the big breakthrough that's
going to help your impact exponentially grow.
366
00:33:51,091 --> 00:33:55,291
And perhaps, Patrick, is that collaboration.
367
00:33:55,391 --> 00:33:59,991
And remember that the only way to fail is to quit.
368
00:34:00,331 --> 00:34:01,611
So keep moving forward.
369
00:34:01,611 --> 00:34:04,091
We need what you do.
370
00:34:05,091 --> 00:34:06,451
And so...
371
00:34:06,611 --> 00:34:09,177
You know, thank you to Patrick for being here.
372
00:34:09,177 --> 00:34:15,311
Thank you to you, you as our audience for being here and keep moving forward.
373
00:34:15,311 --> 00:34:16,894
We'll see you on the next one, everybody.
374
00:34:16,894 --> 00:34:17,775
Thank you.
375
00:34:19,054 --> 00:34:20,059
Thanks, Jack, for having me.
376
00:34:20,059 --> 00:34:21,201
Thanks, all.
00:00:01
Hello everybody and welcome back.
2
00:00:03,832 --> 00:00:05,823
This is the Creative Collaboration Show.
3
00:00:05,823 --> 00:00:11,685
I'm Chuck Anderson, your host, and this is our show for big impact entrepreneurs.
4
00:00:11,685 --> 00:00:24,350
Those entrepreneurs and coaches and consultants and service providers that are on a
mission, not only to make money in their business, but to make a big impact in the lives
5
00:00:24,350 --> 00:00:28,642
of people and their businesses and really the world.
6
00:00:28,642 --> 00:00:31,473
And, you know, one unique thing about
7
00:00:31,739 --> 00:00:37,583
our community is that we want to see the world be a better place.
8
00:00:37,583 --> 00:00:40,844
And we do that through the work that we do.
9
00:00:40,844 --> 00:00:48,329
Now, today's guest is someone who I've known for about 10 years.
10
00:00:48,329 --> 00:00:50,119
We met in a very unique way.
11
00:00:50,119 --> 00:00:58,134
If you've ever felt like you were just in the right place at the right time, that is where
I met this individual.
12
00:00:58,134 --> 00:01:00,379
And we're gonna be talking about something very
13
00:01:00,379 --> 00:01:11,227
important because along the way on this journey and making the big impact, sometimes we
feel stuck and we need a breakthrough or our clients need a breakthrough.
14
00:01:11,227 --> 00:01:14,619
And that is what we're going to talk about today.
15
00:01:14,619 --> 00:01:17,351
So my guest is Patrick Dominguez.
16
00:01:17,491 --> 00:01:28,927
He is this is what he specializes in is helping big impact entrepreneurs with their own
breakthroughs, but also to pass those breakthroughs along to their clients.
17
00:01:28,927 --> 00:01:31,367
and just all around great guy.
18
00:01:31,367 --> 00:01:44,307
I met him back in 2015 when he was the co-founder of the Big Shift with Bill Barron and
they were, I think, five million dollar company at the time.
19
00:01:44,587 --> 00:01:47,987
And it was so funny because I was at a marketing conference.
20
00:01:47,987 --> 00:01:51,447
I was going up, there was nobody around, it was a ghost town.
21
00:01:51,887 --> 00:01:55,167
I was going up one escalator, he was coming down the other.
22
00:01:55,167 --> 00:01:57,480
I asked him for directions and now,
23
00:01:57,480 --> 00:02:02,654
and then we became friends, we went for lunch and here we are 10 years later, Patrick on a
podcast.
24
00:02:02,654 --> 00:02:05,019
So, so glad to have you here.
25
00:02:05,656 --> 00:02:11,628
So good to be with you here today, Chuck, and hello everybody in the audience today.
26
00:02:12,659 --> 00:02:26,307
Yeah, this is a really important topic and I know that this is something that, mean, gosh,
going all the way back to when I first met you, this is the work that you have been doing
27
00:02:26,307 --> 00:02:36,494
is helping entrepreneurs who are on this mission to make a big impact, to build and grow
their businesses.
28
00:02:36,494 --> 00:02:39,017
really, how do you create...
29
00:02:39,017 --> 00:02:49,662
breakthroughs in your clients business and but sometimes you're in need of your own
breakthrough and I think I'm very excited to dive deep into this topic and a great place
30
00:02:49,662 --> 00:02:57,925
to start Patrick I did the very light introduction maybe share share your story with
everyone here and we'll go from there.
31
00:02:58,350 --> 00:02:59,371
Yeah, sounds great.
32
00:02:59,371 --> 00:03:10,417
So this topic of wanting to accomplish something in your life and feeling stuck is
something that I intimate knowledge with.
33
00:03:11,198 --> 00:03:19,823
It actually started when I decided to leave the corporate world, sort of the world of
bigger business, and to put up my shingle as a coach.
34
00:03:19,823 --> 00:03:26,158
And it was 2007, I was living in San Francisco, and I decided I just need a totally
different direction.
35
00:03:26,158 --> 00:03:29,780
from what I've been doing and I wanted to be more hands-on working with people.
36
00:03:29,981 --> 00:03:42,059
And so I put out my shingle as a coach and even though I had had five previous positions
as a director of marketing for different companies, when it came to marketing myself as a
37
00:03:42,059 --> 00:03:45,891
coach, I was super stuck.
38
00:03:45,891 --> 00:03:51,194
And the reason, really the big reason was I had this paralyzing fear of public speaking.
39
00:03:51,275 --> 00:03:56,088
I managed to kind of skate by in the world of bigger businesses because I was mostly not
40
00:03:56,088 --> 00:03:59,740
presenting to strangers, mostly like a small project team or whatnot.
41
00:03:59,740 --> 00:04:09,726
But when it came to being out in public, networking or any kind of speaking, I would just
be paralyzed with fear and just avoid it massively.
42
00:04:09,726 --> 00:04:16,450
Even being at a networking event, doing a 15 second intro, I'd be dripping with sweat and
like practically panicking.
43
00:04:16,830 --> 00:04:23,434
And so of course, the conventional wisdom is if you're launching your coaching businesses,
get in front of people.
44
00:04:23,621 --> 00:04:23,971
right?
45
00:04:23,971 --> 00:04:26,971
Network, speak, put yourself out there.
46
00:04:26,971 --> 00:04:30,986
And I just had this deep fear of doing all those things.
47
00:04:30,986 --> 00:04:38,911
And so my first year in business as a coach, Chuck, I was barely bringing in any clients
because I was just so afraid of getting in front of people.
48
00:04:39,285 --> 00:04:44,367
And since that time I've seen that's actually common with a lot of coaches and other
practitioners.
49
00:04:44,367 --> 00:04:51,490
And so when I started to get really clear, like, okay, I'm getting in my own way here.
50
00:04:53,051 --> 00:04:58,393
I started seeing different coaches, different practitioners who try to help you with this
fear.
51
00:04:58,533 --> 00:05:02,550
And so much of the support I got was either...
52
00:05:02,550 --> 00:05:11,486
mindset, you know, fake it till you make it or show up as the six figure coach and so
forth or accountability.
53
00:05:11,486 --> 00:05:17,056
A lot of powerful coaching tools, but they just didn't make the fear go away.
54
00:05:17,056 --> 00:05:17,286
Right.
55
00:05:17,286 --> 00:05:20,297
And therefore I was avoiding marketing myself.
56
00:05:20,297 --> 00:05:22,838
And so one day I met this brilliant
57
00:05:23,208 --> 00:05:30,298
magician who actually helped me go to the fear itself and then
58
00:05:30,298 --> 00:05:34,540
basically make that fear go away in a very healthy sort of way.
59
00:05:34,540 --> 00:05:36,421
And then I had a speaking engagement.
60
00:05:36,421 --> 00:05:40,483
In fact, I really didn't have any speaking engagements because I was avoiding them.
61
00:05:40,483 --> 00:05:52,030
But I had one that came up after this with 120 people in the room and I got on stage and
it was surreal, Chuck, because I felt so comfortable, so relaxed.
62
00:05:52,030 --> 00:05:52,495
It was like
63
00:05:52,495 --> 00:05:54,255
like being at a party.
64
00:05:54,355 --> 00:06:00,518
and after that talk, people came up to me and said, hey, how did you learn how to be a
public speaker?
65
00:06:01,039 --> 00:06:07,282
And it was the weirdest thing, but just this really deep transformation had happened.
66
00:06:07,282 --> 00:06:11,264
And so afterwards, I just thought, okay, that's life changing.
67
00:06:11,264 --> 00:06:20,809
And I went on to speak quite a bit, and I think you may know about this, but ended up with
my business partner, Bill Barron, we spoke on lots of big stages, and we started having
68
00:06:20,809 --> 00:06:22,830
our own events with hundreds of people.
69
00:06:22,830 --> 00:06:24,750
So it was a game changer for business.
70
00:06:24,750 --> 00:06:33,710
It was also just a game changer, I think, for my own inner liberation, going from someone
who's kind of afraid of people, including groups of people, to being comfortable with
71
00:06:33,710 --> 00:06:37,170
people, empowered to support people.
72
00:06:37,210 --> 00:06:40,690
And so after that experience, I got fascinated.
73
00:06:40,690 --> 00:06:47,630
I wanted to know, so how did that person do something that all these other coaches and
other practitioners weren't able to do?
74
00:06:47,630 --> 00:06:49,470
So I went to study with him.
75
00:06:49,470 --> 00:06:51,670
I went to study NLP.
76
00:06:52,649 --> 00:07:01,438
And then I just started to see, working with the inner stuff instead of trying to work
around it or avoid it.
77
00:07:01,438 --> 00:07:04,078
was having huge changes in my life.
78
00:07:04,078 --> 00:07:10,578
I started working on my relationship stuff and the ways I was avoiding fear of losing love
in a relationship.
79
00:07:10,578 --> 00:07:14,858
I started working with health stuff like resisting exercise and so forth.
80
00:07:14,878 --> 00:07:22,348
All the inner stuff I just started working on with my tools and just saw so many amazing
transformations.
81
00:07:22,348 --> 00:07:23,891
and result in my life.
82
00:07:24,868 --> 00:07:30,925
Wow, I can relate to so much of that story Patrick, mean especially the part of
83
00:07:31,007 --> 00:07:36,890
of not being able to stand up and promote yourself, the fear of being on stage.
84
00:07:37,010 --> 00:07:45,214
A lot of people don't believe me because they see me on stage talking a lot, but I was
very introverted when I first started.
85
00:07:45,214 --> 00:07:50,156
I was a former computer programmer where I just worked in a closet all day long.
86
00:07:50,436 --> 00:07:54,278
And then when I first got invited to speak, I'm like, are you kidding me?
87
00:07:54,278 --> 00:07:57,770
I would literally wake up in cold sweats with that.
88
00:07:57,770 --> 00:07:59,920
So I can relate to a lot of that.
89
00:08:00,801 --> 00:08:11,448
through my own journeys of breakthrough on that to now where I thrive on being on stage, I
thrive in being in those situations, I crave it, right?
90
00:08:11,448 --> 00:08:18,351
And that's the exact opposite of how it was 20 plus years ago, probably 25 now.
91
00:08:18,792 --> 00:08:21,193
So amazing.
92
00:08:21,474 --> 00:08:30,309
So let's talk about a little bit about what you're doing now in terms of the work that
you're doing and who you're serving.
93
00:08:30,860 --> 00:08:45,272
Yeah, I'm currently working with coaches, holistic practitioners, healers, other types of
practitioners, people who mostly work with other clients one-on-one or in groups, helping
94
00:08:45,272 --> 00:08:52,148
clients create some sort of positive change in their lives, in their business, in their
health, their relationships and so forth.
95
00:08:52,188 --> 00:08:59,060
And so I'm training practitioners, coaches, healers, holistic practitioners, et cetera.
96
00:08:59,060 --> 00:09:05,052
in tools to be able to help their clients break through any sort of inner resistance.
97
00:09:05,213 --> 00:09:10,755
And then oftentimes people come to me because they're wanting to shift their own inner
resistance.
98
00:09:10,935 --> 00:09:22,820
And the reason why this is so important is anytime someone's working towards a new goal,
something they haven't done before, a lot of my clients are entrepreneurs, so mostly I'm
99
00:09:22,820 --> 00:09:24,591
working with people on business goals, right?
100
00:09:24,591 --> 00:09:26,574
So they're wanting to grow their business.
101
00:09:26,574 --> 00:09:29,816
They're wanting to grow their income, their impact and so forth.
102
00:09:29,877 --> 00:09:36,763
Anytime you're working towards something new you haven't accomplished before,
automatically there's resistance that goes along with it.
103
00:09:36,763 --> 00:09:40,025
So there's goal and there's resistance, they go together.
104
00:09:40,025 --> 00:09:42,407
It's like the yin and the yang.
105
00:09:42,407 --> 00:09:50,093
And so a lot of people are so focused on the goal, they're ignoring the fact that there's
actually a lot of resistance there.
106
00:09:50,174 --> 00:09:55,488
And as they're working towards the goal or not working towards the goal, it's kind of like
this.
107
00:09:55,488 --> 00:10:06,217
resistance is this invisible elephant in the room that oftentimes the people I'm working
with they're not aware of and perhaps the coaches or other practitioners they're working
108
00:10:06,217 --> 00:10:08,119
with are not aware of as well.
109
00:10:08,119 --> 00:10:18,778
And so I'm kind of on a mission to say, right now, 90 plus percent of coaching is focused
on the external, right?
110
00:10:18,778 --> 00:10:19,638
What are your goals?
111
00:10:19,638 --> 00:10:20,789
What are your action steps?
112
00:10:20,789 --> 00:10:23,221
What are your accountability structures and so forth?
113
00:10:23,221 --> 00:10:24,672
All very important.
114
00:10:24,717 --> 00:10:26,155
but it's missing the other.
115
00:10:26,155 --> 00:10:29,217
which is what is going on on the inside.
116
00:10:29,437 --> 00:10:37,343
And I remember years ago, listening to these tapes from Tony Robbins, where Tony Robbins
said that 80 % of success is our inner psychology.
117
00:10:37,343 --> 00:10:40,645
And at the time, I massively poo-pooed that.
118
00:10:40,645 --> 00:10:42,316
I thought, well, what about the strategies?
119
00:10:42,316 --> 00:10:43,317
What about the actions?
120
00:10:43,317 --> 00:10:45,928
Isn't it taking action the main thing that matters?
121
00:10:46,089 --> 00:10:53,914
But then when I got completely stopped by my own inner psychology, right, my fear of being
seen, my fear of public speaking,
122
00:10:54,072 --> 00:11:04,214
then I saw, when you're completely stopped by something on the inside, that's the main
thing to focus on in the moment, not the thing to avoid.
123
00:11:05,061 --> 00:11:07,112
Yeah, that's very, very powerful.
124
00:11:07,112 --> 00:11:13,786
And it's not always easy to see on our own.
125
00:11:13,786 --> 00:11:22,141
And I think that's definitely the power of having a coach and having that that opportunity
to to to have a look.
126
00:11:22,141 --> 00:11:23,142
Let's look under the hood.
127
00:11:23,142 --> 00:11:24,533
Let's see what's going on here.
128
00:11:24,533 --> 00:11:26,284
That's really the cause.
129
00:11:26,284 --> 00:11:31,487
Because and to your point, so many of us are looking for the new tactic.
130
00:11:32,095 --> 00:11:39,141
and the strategy and how do I become 10 times more productive than I am now?
131
00:11:39,142 --> 00:11:43,084
And sometimes, a lot of times actually, that's the wrong question.
132
00:11:44,887 --> 00:11:48,450
Or we look in the wrong direction to be able to achieve that.
133
00:11:48,450 --> 00:11:51,972
Now, what are you hearing when people come into your world?
134
00:11:51,973 --> 00:11:53,484
What's the conversation?
135
00:11:53,484 --> 00:11:54,475
Are they...
136
00:11:54,727 --> 00:12:03,142
Talking to you more from the perspective of helping their clients with their breakthroughs
or are they coming you directly going, Hey, I have this issue.
137
00:12:03,142 --> 00:12:04,213
I need this help.
138
00:12:04,213 --> 00:12:05,563
What's the journey there?
139
00:12:05,563 --> 00:12:08,625
What's how does that conversation usually go?
140
00:12:08,920 --> 00:12:14,372
Yeah, so, well, you know, I wanna tell a little story that kinda really just was
enlightening for me.
141
00:12:14,533 --> 00:12:24,597
So, back when I was running the business, The Big Shift, together with my business partner
Bill, we had over 100 clients in a year-long coaching program with us, and we had hundreds
142
00:12:24,597 --> 00:12:26,838
of clients in smaller programs with us.
143
00:12:26,918 --> 00:12:36,172
And when you're working at that sort of scale, you just can't miss the number of people
who are not taking action, right, and who are not getting results.
144
00:12:36,630 --> 00:12:48,773
I remember just being frustrated by like how could so many people be investing a thousand
dollars over ten thousand dollars and not taking action and so I Was coaching a bunch of
145
00:12:48,773 --> 00:12:57,776
people in our programs and so I just noticed a lot of people Had a fear of being invisible
right or a lot of people had money blocks, right?
146
00:12:57,776 --> 00:13:06,458
People with money are bad or if I if I make too much money, I'm gonna lose the love of my
family for example and so
147
00:13:06,518 --> 00:13:12,060
I just heard all these things came up and I had this one client who came to the very first
session with me.
148
00:13:12,060 --> 00:13:17,301
told me, he said, Patrick, one thing you need to know about me is I'm a self-sabotager.
149
00:13:18,181 --> 00:13:21,002
And I didn't even know what he was talking about.
150
00:13:21,562 --> 00:13:30,815
know, because I come from the business world where, you know, you don't really have a lot
of that sort of self-sabotage because you wouldn't really have a job, you know, after a
151
00:13:30,815 --> 00:13:32,886
few months if you weren't taking action, right?
152
00:13:32,886 --> 00:13:34,746
So he told me...
153
00:13:34,808 --> 00:13:37,539
He was a self-sabotager and I said, what do you mean by that?
154
00:13:37,539 --> 00:13:43,030
And then he told me, and I realized I don't have the tools to help this person.
155
00:13:43,030 --> 00:13:45,781
I really don't know what to do with this sabotage.
156
00:13:45,781 --> 00:13:49,762
The only thing I knew how to do was a lot of the conventional coaching stuff.
157
00:13:49,762 --> 00:14:00,425
And so after encountering a number of people who were really stuck in some sort of way, I
decided to go on a quest to figure out how do I help these people as much as I can help
158
00:14:00,425 --> 00:14:04,088
people with things like clarifying their niche and clarifying their.
159
00:14:04,088 --> 00:14:08,600
their premium packages and helping them with their sales conversations and so forth.
160
00:14:08,600 --> 00:14:13,342
And so I did, I spent 10 years learning some of the top healing modalities.
161
00:14:13,342 --> 00:14:17,063
I got certified in five trauma healing modalities.
162
00:14:17,804 --> 00:14:20,135
Some of the greatest tools for transformation in the world.
163
00:14:20,135 --> 00:14:31,910
I learned a hundred different healing techniques and I basically took a lot of what I
learned from the world of healing and sort of shaped it so that it works really well in
164
00:14:31,910 --> 00:14:33,206
the world of coaching.
165
00:14:33,206 --> 00:14:42,529
And so one of my mantras now is that healing is a new coaching and that you can bring
tools from the healing world, integrate them into coaching so that you're working with
166
00:14:42,529 --> 00:14:46,830
clients not only on the outer stuff, but the inner stuff.
167
00:14:46,830 --> 00:14:52,161
And so one of the things I've just started noticing, you were asking me what am I noticing
when people are coming to me?
168
00:14:52,161 --> 00:15:03,374
Well, even back then when people were coming for business coaching, just I noticed in the
first consultation or the first few sessions, so many clients would say, or would say,
169
00:15:03,426 --> 00:15:05,406
I think I'm getting in my own way.
170
00:15:05,687 --> 00:15:07,807
Or, I think I'm hitting an inner ceiling.
171
00:15:07,807 --> 00:15:10,068
Or I'm upper limiting.
172
00:15:10,068 --> 00:15:11,989
Or I'm feeling really stuck.
173
00:15:11,989 --> 00:15:14,149
Or I just can't seem to get clear.
174
00:15:14,149 --> 00:15:25,282
And those are all different ways of saying there's something going on inside where I'm
resisting, I'm avoiding moving forward or getting clear in my business.
175
00:15:25,282 --> 00:15:31,594
And so what I used to do early on in my coaching career was try to move around that.
176
00:15:32,234 --> 00:15:33,685
Okay, you're procrastinating, great.
177
00:15:33,685 --> 00:15:45,330
Well, let's just talk about your goals and your actions and kind of hope that we could get
people motivated by their vision and their goals and then that would counterbalance any
178
00:15:45,330 --> 00:15:47,160
sort of inner resistance.
179
00:15:47,681 --> 00:15:53,143
And for some people who are like super driven and so forth, that can work pretty well.
180
00:15:53,143 --> 00:15:59,226
But for a lot of clients, when there is that more deep seated fear and there's actually
other
181
00:15:59,274 --> 00:16:00,545
sources of resistance too.
182
00:16:00,545 --> 00:16:02,495
We could talk about that later if you like.
183
00:16:02,856 --> 00:16:10,856
But when there's a real deep unconscious driver and oftentimes it's a protective energy,
right?
184
00:16:10,856 --> 00:16:14,781
I'm going to avoid being visible out of protection, for example.
185
00:16:14,781 --> 00:16:20,243
I'm going to avoid offering my services out of protecting myself from rejection, for
example.
186
00:16:20,243 --> 00:16:28,046
So when there were these deep unconscious protective mechanisms trying to protect us from
the very things we're wanting to accomplish in our business,
187
00:16:28,280 --> 00:16:38,013
trying to go around them is the hard way, and that's what I did a lot as a coach, because
that client ends up having this inner conflict or this inner battle.
188
00:16:38,013 --> 00:16:46,735
Part of them wants to move forward towards their goals, but part of them wants to keep
them safe and sort of in the same place.
189
00:16:46,775 --> 00:16:56,238
And so you see clients come in oftentimes who tell me, and I'm sure you've seen this Chuck
too, where they're saying, man, I'm working so hard right now, but not getting anywhere.
190
00:16:56,238 --> 00:16:58,528
And it's because they are working a lot.
191
00:16:59,659 --> 00:17:04,261
but they're putting their foot on the gas pedal and on the brake at the same time.
192
00:17:04,261 --> 00:17:10,465
So it feels like a lot of work, a lot of stress, a lot of overwhelm, and sometimes not
very much progress.
193
00:17:10,465 --> 00:17:21,461
And so ideally what we want to do as a coach or a healer or holistic practitioner working
with people is help people take their foot off the brake, okay?
194
00:17:21,461 --> 00:17:27,444
Because if you think about it, if you have 100 units of energy or life force, you can put
195
00:17:27,444 --> 00:17:38,734
into your business, your work, your mission, and 50%, let's say 50 of those units you're
putting into moving forward, but 50 of those units you're putting into staying in the same
196
00:17:38,734 --> 00:17:45,170
place, well then a lot of your energy is going out, but not resulting in movement.
197
00:17:45,981 --> 00:17:47,665
Wow, that is extremely powerful.
198
00:17:47,665 --> 00:17:54,870
And what's the level of awareness do you think that entrepreneurs have that they're even
doing that?
199
00:17:56,192 --> 00:18:14,268
I think the awareness is a lot lower than it needs to be because oftentimes these forms of
resistance have a way of being invisible to our own psyche because the protective
200
00:18:14,268 --> 00:18:17,401
mechanism work better if we can't see them.
201
00:18:17,401 --> 00:18:23,288
So that's why so oftentimes people have blind spots and
202
00:18:23,288 --> 00:18:26,716
That blind spot is a way of also keeping oneself safe.
203
00:18:26,716 --> 00:18:32,158
Like if I'm not aware of this way I'm holding myself back, I'm not gonna try to change it.
204
00:18:33,395 --> 00:18:37,727
Yeah, and I think that this definitely has symptoms.
205
00:18:37,727 --> 00:18:47,601
And you mentioned some of them already, such as you're working as hard as you can or
really maxing out, but not feeling like you're really getting anywhere.
206
00:18:47,622 --> 00:18:52,544
Or there just seems to be this ceiling that you can't really get past.
207
00:18:52,544 --> 00:18:58,927
Are there any others that you're noticing that are really powerful symptoms of what's
going on?
208
00:19:00,206 --> 00:19:01,447
And it there.
209
00:19:01,447 --> 00:19:07,028
Yeah, there's definitely people Oftentimes people focus on well if I'm stuck.
210
00:19:07,028 --> 00:19:19,324
I'm like you said I'm gonna try to learn more I'm gonna try to work harder and a trap a
trap I've been I Want to use a more benign word, but I've been it myself But there is kind
211
00:19:19,324 --> 00:19:26,997
of the trap or the I call it the pattern of being in this cycle of personal development
Which is I'm gonna keep reading personal development books.
212
00:19:26,997 --> 00:19:28,918
I'm gonna keep growing myself
213
00:19:29,002 --> 00:19:34,624
And if I do that, I'll be able to then be the person who can do the thing.
214
00:19:34,624 --> 00:19:40,905
And there's some kernel of truth to that, but it doesn't necessarily lead to shifting that
inner resistance.
215
00:19:40,905 --> 00:19:46,327
So I am a big advocate of, yes, by all means, let's grow, let's step into more personal
power.
216
00:19:46,427 --> 00:19:56,059
But I think trying to learn more or work harder can be another way of avoiding working
with the resistance.
217
00:19:56,059 --> 00:19:58,410
And so that's kind of like
218
00:19:58,444 --> 00:20:03,446
when I'm talking to people and I'm giving talks to groups, that's kind of mistake number
one.
219
00:20:03,446 --> 00:20:15,461
If someone's wanting to get past being stuck, getting past their resistance, mistake
number one is just really working with their conscious mind to learn more or work more.
220
00:20:15,641 --> 00:20:21,003
And it actually can often aggravate that inner conflict because that resistance will dig
in even more.
221
00:20:21,003 --> 00:20:26,846
So that's kind of like the first mistake, if you will, think people make when they're
trying to get unstuck.
222
00:20:26,846 --> 00:20:28,586
And so the second one,
223
00:20:29,030 --> 00:20:39,653
is kind of related to the first one, which is only engaging with the situation with the
conscious mind and not looking at what's happening at the unconscious level.
224
00:20:39,653 --> 00:20:40,473
Okay?
225
00:20:40,473 --> 00:20:43,674
So a lot of coaching happens at the conscious level.
226
00:20:43,674 --> 00:20:49,926
Goals, action steps, accountability, homework, and so forth.
227
00:20:49,926 --> 00:20:53,957
Of course, those are all valuable, but it's only half of the picture.
228
00:20:53,957 --> 00:20:56,558
And so when I'm training
229
00:20:56,558 --> 00:21:06,601
coaches and other practitioners in my tools, I'm giving people tools to look at and
discover what's going on there in the unconscious mind.
230
00:21:06,601 --> 00:21:17,924
And so, for example, I had a person who came to me last year because she was really
avoiding sales conversations and having sales with potential clients.
231
00:21:18,224 --> 00:21:19,664
And she didn't know why.
232
00:21:19,664 --> 00:21:24,886
And that's very common that people feel stuck in some area of their business but they
don't know why.
233
00:21:24,886 --> 00:21:26,286
And so I've developed this
234
00:21:26,286 --> 00:21:36,139
process called the inner resistance discovery method and in 10 minutes or less people can
understand what's blocking them and why it's blocking them.
235
00:21:36,139 --> 00:21:37,969
It's very powerful.
236
00:21:38,029 --> 00:21:48,472
You still need to transform the resistance but I believe that knowledge is power and to
know why you're because stuck is a symptom, procrastination is a symptom, sabotage is a
237
00:21:48,472 --> 00:21:49,213
symptom.
238
00:21:49,213 --> 00:21:51,423
There's always a deeper reason.
239
00:21:51,423 --> 00:21:54,094
There's always a deeper root cause.
240
00:21:54,414 --> 00:21:59,994
And so when you can have awareness and awareness of what that root causes, then you can
shift it.
241
00:21:59,994 --> 00:22:10,174
And so that's why I provide people with tools to get under, kind of like lift the rock and
see what's under the rock.
242
00:22:10,174 --> 00:22:11,694
I think you said that earlier.
243
00:22:11,694 --> 00:22:15,614
And it reminds me of this great quote from Carl Jung I have right here.
244
00:22:15,654 --> 00:22:23,294
Until you make the unconscious conscious, it will direct your life and you will call it
fate.
245
00:22:24,573 --> 00:22:29,196
Wow, that is an extremely powerful statement.
246
00:22:29,196 --> 00:22:34,760
Until you make the unconscious conscious, you will, what did you say?
247
00:22:34,760 --> 00:22:39,433
You'll call it fate.
248
00:22:39,633 --> 00:22:40,754
Wow.
249
00:22:40,954 --> 00:22:45,357
And there's so many other words that we would call that like manifestation.
250
00:22:45,357 --> 00:22:52,372
And especially in our world where these are the words that we use or attraction and all of
that.
251
00:22:52,372 --> 00:22:53,803
And so we
252
00:22:54,463 --> 00:23:04,346
And a lot of times we're trained to look at everything that's happening in our world to be
a positive thing that's there to benefit us, even if it sucks.
253
00:23:05,647 --> 00:23:12,529
But what you're just saying here is like, still could be something unconscious going on.
254
00:23:12,529 --> 00:23:18,050
We're choosing to see it as a positive thing, but it could be so much better maybe, right?
255
00:23:18,050 --> 00:23:27,445
Yeah, well, you since you brought up the law of attraction, I think one of the big flaws
of the law of attraction, and I've been to events with Esther Hicks and Abraham, and
256
00:23:27,445 --> 00:23:37,661
there's so many beautiful teachings there, but I think one of the biggest missing pieces
there is, again, it's mostly focused on the conscious mind and conscious intention, right?
257
00:23:37,661 --> 00:23:46,285
And so Esther Hicks and Abraham talk about, you know, having rockets of desire, being
really clear on what your desire is and putting that out into the world.
258
00:23:46,285 --> 00:23:47,946
But what they don't talk about,
259
00:23:47,946 --> 00:23:53,689
is what if there's an unconscious part of you that wants the opposite of your desire?
260
00:23:54,370 --> 00:24:02,214
Right, so you may have an unconscious desire to get into loving relationship, but there
might be a part of you that's afraid of getting close to somebody else.
261
00:24:02,715 --> 00:24:11,820
And so one of the things that's so often missing from the law of attraction is the fact
that we have unconscious parts of us that may have counter intentions to our conscious
262
00:24:11,820 --> 00:24:12,821
intentions.
263
00:24:12,821 --> 00:24:15,520
And the law of attraction, for the most part,
264
00:24:15,520 --> 00:24:21,793
is often focused just on the conscious intentions and not what's happening at a deeper
level.
265
00:24:21,793 --> 00:24:32,958
And so that's the third thing I wanted to mention today here, which is, and I used to be
this way too when I first started coaching, which is I thought of these inner sort of
266
00:24:32,958 --> 00:24:37,480
blocks or these areas of resistance as something to avoid.
267
00:24:37,480 --> 00:24:41,481
Like, look, just kind of go around that and let's just go for the goals.
268
00:24:41,602 --> 00:24:42,742
And now,
269
00:24:42,882 --> 00:24:55,432
when I see resistance come up with a client and usually happens in the first session or
two, I see that as perhaps their greatest opportunity for growth.
270
00:24:55,432 --> 00:25:01,156
It's literally like this gateway for transformation just presenting it right here.
271
00:25:01,217 --> 00:25:12,680
And so one of the metaphors I often use with clients is if you imagine having a treasure
map, whatever you're running into resistance, procrastination, sabotage.
272
00:25:12,680 --> 00:25:16,272
I don't deserve it and so forth.
273
00:25:17,253 --> 00:25:28,261
All the limiting beliefs that come up with people, I'm not enough, I'm not capable enough,
I can't handle this, it's not safe and so forth.
274
00:25:28,261 --> 00:25:34,606
To me, those are like an X on the treasure map saying, treasure is here.
275
00:25:34,606 --> 00:25:40,870
If you dig right here, this is where your greatest breakthrough lies, okay?
276
00:25:40,874 --> 00:25:53,389
And so to avoid that, whether you're the client or whether you're the practitioner working
with the client, it's a real shame to avoid that because that actually could be the
277
00:25:53,389 --> 00:25:57,921
greatest, the most life changing opportunity for that client.
278
00:25:57,921 --> 00:26:07,275
So for me, when I was able to shift that fear with the help of someone else, that changed
my life in so many ways forever.
279
00:26:07,275 --> 00:26:08,145
Right.
280
00:26:08,145 --> 00:26:10,186
Of course, it helped me.
281
00:26:10,711 --> 00:26:12,375
me become a better coach.
282
00:26:12,375 --> 00:26:13,438
It helped me make more money.
283
00:26:13,438 --> 00:26:14,178
helped me create.
284
00:26:14,178 --> 00:26:16,738
impact, it helped me have more of a lifestyle I wanted.
285
00:26:16,738 --> 00:26:29,198
But just as a human being or as a spiritual being, it created expansion like probably
nothing else I had done in the previous 10 years.
286
00:26:29,959 --> 00:26:30,920
Wow.
287
00:26:31,862 --> 00:26:35,096
I know we've only barely scratched the surface of this topic.
288
00:26:35,096 --> 00:26:39,611
I think we could probably do a full day workshop impromptu right now.
289
00:26:40,513 --> 00:26:45,679
And still not have uncovered everything, but you know, just.
290
00:26:45,755 --> 00:26:58,923
Speaking to the audience here, if this sounds familiar, these patterns and maybe there's
something going on that is preventing you from making the biggest impact possible with the
291
00:26:58,923 --> 00:26:59,694
work that you're doing.
292
00:26:59,694 --> 00:27:03,426
And I know you wanna make that big impact, cause that's why you're here.
293
00:27:04,046 --> 00:27:07,609
Then there's probably some next steps here.
294
00:27:07,609 --> 00:27:11,851
And Patrick is someone who can really guide you through.
295
00:27:12,143 --> 00:27:13,144
what those are.
296
00:27:13,144 --> 00:27:17,647
So Patrick, I know you have tools and this is the work that you do.
297
00:27:18,068 --> 00:27:26,835
What's the next step in terms of connecting with you and maybe working with you to let's
look under the hood and see what's going on.
298
00:27:27,438 --> 00:27:30,798
Yeah, so I just want to encourage everyone listening to this.
299
00:27:30,798 --> 00:27:39,638
If this topic is speaking to you, there are tools to uncover and get really clear on what
the inner resistance is.
300
00:27:39,638 --> 00:27:44,178
That's my blanket term for all the inner things that seem to stop us.
301
00:27:44,178 --> 00:27:47,218
And there are tools to transform it.
302
00:27:47,218 --> 00:27:53,138
And this can be done relatively quickly and in a relatively straightforward way.
303
00:27:53,138 --> 00:27:54,658
So my encouragement.
304
00:27:55,042 --> 00:28:05,060
whether it's for yourself or whether it's for the clients you're working with, is to not
avoid these things that come up, but see them as a gift for that person's transformation
305
00:28:05,060 --> 00:28:07,832
or for your own transformation and liberation.
306
00:28:08,313 --> 00:28:11,816
And so I have something for everybody today.
307
00:28:11,816 --> 00:28:21,123
So one of the most common ways that I see business owners get stuck, entrepreneurs get
stuck is procrastination.
308
00:28:21,324 --> 00:28:24,226
I had a client who came to me and he had literally,
309
00:28:24,226 --> 00:28:27,787
been wanting to launch his business for four years.
310
00:28:27,787 --> 00:28:40,161
He'd been procrastinating on launching it for four years and in one session I helped him
get stuck and he had a workshop in the next month and got his first two clients after four
311
00:28:40,161 --> 00:28:41,811
years of avoiding that.
312
00:28:42,171 --> 00:28:52,034
so procrastination is one of the biggest things that stops us and so I've created this
free guide it's called the perfect antidote to procrastination
313
00:28:52,354 --> 00:29:01,179
and you get two things, you get an ebook, but I think, it kind of guides you on how to
shift that procrastination, why it's even there in the first place.
314
00:29:01,179 --> 00:29:14,377
But even more valuable is you also get an hour long recording of me taking a group and
helping everybody in that group shift their procrastination energetically, getting to the
315
00:29:14,377 --> 00:29:20,630
root cause, discovering what the root cause, and then shifting the energy of the
procrastination during that session.
316
00:29:21,326 --> 00:29:31,765
I have someone who told me that they've listened to that session, that recording seven
times because every time they keep up leveling themselves and keep releasing something
317
00:29:31,765 --> 00:29:32,916
inside.
318
00:29:32,916 --> 00:29:35,268
And so I want to give you the link to that.
319
00:29:35,268 --> 00:29:38,350
That's inner coach dot com.
320
00:29:38,350 --> 00:29:39,461
That's my website.
321
00:29:39,461 --> 00:29:43,875
Inner coach dot com forward slash P.G.
322
00:29:43,875 --> 00:29:46,107
for procrastination guide.
323
00:29:46,107 --> 00:29:49,529
So inner coach dot com forward slash P.G.
324
00:29:49,730 --> 00:29:50,464
and
325
00:29:50,464 --> 00:29:54,317
in that guide and then I highly recommend the session.
326
00:29:54,317 --> 00:30:03,642
I'll guide you through my procrastination breakthrough formula and you'll have a big
breakthrough if there's some sort of procrastination or other sort of avoidance.
327
00:30:04,503 --> 00:30:10,026
Go through this session and I just would love for you to see what's possible and for you
to get unleashed.
328
00:30:10,765 --> 00:30:21,450
That sounds like a very powerful tool and guide and if you would like to grab Patrick's
guide right now, obviously you can go to the URL he just mentioned.
329
00:30:21,450 --> 00:30:26,532
If you're watching this on video, the link to that directly is right beneath this video.
330
00:30:26,532 --> 00:30:33,245
If you're listening to this on podcast, just look into the player on your phone and the
link is there.
331
00:30:33,305 --> 00:30:34,256
as well.
332
00:30:34,256 --> 00:30:47,066
Now Patrick, almost out of time here and and I just again so many awesome insights that
we've shared here today or we've you've shared for sure.
333
00:30:47,828 --> 00:31:01,379
While I have you here, I mean we've mentioned personal growth, it in lot of us on this big
impact journey are are are definitely connoisseurs of personal growth content.
334
00:31:01,719 --> 00:31:04,870
books have been a big part of that journey for me.
335
00:31:04,870 --> 00:31:15,914
I just wanted to check in with you if you have a favorite or a must read recommendation or
maybe one that you're a newer one that you're reading now because we like to leave our
336
00:31:15,914 --> 00:31:22,026
audience with some ideas of where they can they can go to learn next.
337
00:31:22,107 --> 00:31:23,607
What would you recommend?
338
00:31:23,640 --> 00:31:25,061
Yeah brought one with me actually.
339
00:31:25,061 --> 00:31:27,592
this is a book I have in my nightstand.
340
00:31:27,592 --> 00:31:32,396
It's called The Book of Awakening by Mark Nepo.
341
00:31:32,736 --> 00:31:38,320
And it's really cool because there is a page for every day of the year.
342
00:31:38,320 --> 00:31:40,862
And so you can just flip it open to any page.
343
00:31:40,862 --> 00:31:45,424
You can either find today's date or just flip it open to a random page.
344
00:31:45,445 --> 00:31:51,729
And each page is basically just a big source of inspiration.
345
00:31:53,418 --> 00:31:56,658
small awakenings and so it's great for inspiration.
346
00:31:56,658 --> 00:32:05,366
I like to read it before going to bed or if there's a day where I'm just like, hey, and a
little bit of a funk, it's a great source of inspiration.
347
00:32:05,651 --> 00:32:07,512
That's a really powerful suggestion.
348
00:32:07,512 --> 00:32:09,923
I've never actually come across that book before.
349
00:32:09,923 --> 00:32:17,976
And that's why I like asking this question on this podcast because I get to have exposure
to all this new work.
350
00:32:18,517 --> 00:32:19,648
I'm going to go check that out.
351
00:32:19,648 --> 00:32:22,999
That sounds like one I should have on my night table as well.
352
00:32:22,999 --> 00:32:25,705
So I really appreciate that.
353
00:32:25,705 --> 00:32:31,743
And for anyone else who would like to grab it, I'll put the link beneath this video and in
the podcast show notes there as well.
354
00:32:31,963 --> 00:32:33,864
Patrick, thank you so much.
355
00:32:33,864 --> 00:32:35,765
I am so grateful that we
356
00:32:35,765 --> 00:32:41,993
were able to reconnect and then also take the next steps of having you on this podcast.
357
00:32:41,993 --> 00:32:53,006
And I'm looking forward to other work that we get to do together, maybe some events that
we have coming up and who knows.
358
00:32:53,767 --> 00:33:01,587
I know we're both guys that are open to, you know, whatever serves us in our mission.
359
00:33:01,587 --> 00:33:03,770
And I want to speak to our audience for a second.
360
00:33:03,770 --> 00:33:07,025
I really hope that this has been inspirational for you.
361
00:33:07,025 --> 00:33:09,211
You know, we refer to you as Big On.
362
00:33:09,211 --> 00:33:18,098
impact entrepreneurs and I really want you to be able to make the biggest impact that you
possibly can with your work.
363
00:33:18,098 --> 00:33:29,678
Now time to time there's going to be obstacles and challenges that just seem like we can't
you know we can't get around and I want to encourage you if you feel like that reach out
364
00:33:29,678 --> 00:33:39,071
to Patrick get his guide that's a great first step and remember that there's no obstacle
too big to be overcome.
365
00:33:39,071 --> 00:33:51,091
And really, you might be just one collaboration away from the big breakthrough that's
going to help your impact exponentially grow.
366
00:33:51,091 --> 00:33:55,291
And perhaps, Patrick, is that collaboration.
367
00:33:55,391 --> 00:33:59,991
And remember that the only way to fail is to quit.
368
00:34:00,331 --> 00:34:01,611
So keep moving forward.
369
00:34:01,611 --> 00:34:04,091
We need what you do.
370
00:34:05,091 --> 00:34:06,451
And so...
371
00:34:06,611 --> 00:34:09,177
You know, thank you to Patrick for being here.
372
00:34:09,177 --> 00:34:15,311
Thank you to you, you as our audience for being here and keep moving forward.
373
00:34:15,311 --> 00:34:16,894
We'll see you on the next one, everybody.
374
00:34:16,894 --> 00:34:17,775
Thank you.
375
00:34:19,054 --> 00:34:20,059
Thanks, Jack, for having me.
376
00:34:20,059 --> 00:34:21,201
Thanks, all.
