What if the mysterious stone monuments of Britain and the enormous earthworks of ancient America shared a connection with a people mentioned repeatedly in the Bible?
The Amorites were among the most formidable peoples of the ancient Near East, associated with powerful kingdoms, fortified cities, and the biblical accounts of giants. But could their story extend far beyond the lands of Canaan and Mesopotamia?
In this episode, we investigate the controversial theory connecting the biblical Amorites with Stonehenge, Britain's prehistoric monuments, and the extraordinary burial mounds and geometric earthworks of Ohio's ancient cultures.
From the biblical King Og of Bashan and the Rephaim to the massive stone circles of Salisbury Plain and the mysterious constructions of the Ohio Valley, we follow a trail of ancient traditions, unusual burials, forgotten antiquarian discoveries, and disputed claims of prehistoric migration.
Were these monuments created by entirely separate civilizations, or could there have been movements of people and ideas across distances that conventional accounts have never established?
The archaeology offers one story. Biblical traditions and nineteenth-century accounts of America's mound builders offer another. Where do they overlap, and where does the evidence fall apart?
Stonehenge. The Ohio mounds. The biblical giants. And the Amorites. Could there be a connection that history has overlooked?
