Speaker 1: Hey, what's up.
00:00:00
Speaker 2: This is DJ pro Style and this is Penny tell Us and this is teach Me Something brought to you by Berkeley College.
00:00:07
Speaker 1: We are back, ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls, welcome to teach Me Something presented by Berkeley College.
00:00:12
Speaker 2: I am Pro Style and I am Penny tell Us. Are you feeling Penny, I'm feeling great.
00:00:17
Speaker 1: Let's talk about this this alpha you have on.
00:00:19
Speaker 2: I know I'm wearing. I'm wearing some throwback some throwback merch lines and circle shut out to the boys, O town right, pop phenomenon. But I'm really excited.
00:00:30
Speaker 1: About this merch Can you explain? Why? Can you explain?
00:00:32
Speaker 2: I am? I'm so excited because I'm a towny. Right, all my townies that are listening, we can all scream together in three two two one.
00:00:41
Speaker 1: Let's go.
00:00:41
Speaker 2: You're not screaming the scream there. But we're so excited because we have Trevor in the building shop in post building.
00:00:57
Speaker 1: What's up? Man, Thanks for coming.
00:00:58
Speaker 3: Through, man, thank you for having me.
00:00:59
Speaker 1: This is we're talking about this this episode for a minute.
00:01:03
Speaker 2: I'm excited, but you know, I know I'm excited. I'm excited. First of all, Okay, y'all are celebrating so many milestones. Yeah, making the Bandah, making the band two thousand, twenty fifth anniversary. The New York City event a City Winery was crazy. It was beautiful and we started talking about the pod since then, yes, with bringing you guys to the pod.
00:01:25
Speaker 4: Yeah, I was just hopefully we'll be back at the City Winery this year. Okay, possibly we could come back as a whole.
00:01:35
Speaker 3: Yeah, that'll come say What's up?
00:01:39
Speaker 1: Part two? Normally we always need a part to anyway, we need a part of talk so much that you know, like ask like three questions, take.
00:01:46
Speaker 2: Up you already know, pencil it in the team's calendar. You're coming back to iHeart Yeah, no, we love it. So two thousand so yeah, your entire life was on TV and you all are on YouTube now rewatching.
00:02:02
Speaker 4: Yes, you know, it's crazy because when we did that, I don't remember. We did it one day, you know, a day and a half, just consecutive over and over, so I don't remember, you know what I said. You know, I'm watching it back. I'm like, oh, ship jokes, like, oh that was funny. Oh okay, okay, Like I'm really enjoying kind of watching it back. It was it was a cool experience, cool experience to do.
00:02:25
Speaker 2: Did you think at that time that you guys would become what you became?
00:02:31
Speaker 3: Man? No, now you know what we are now, No way.
00:02:37
Speaker 4: I mean we obviously didn't see that with it just being four of us now, But man, it was the greatest thing about since we've been back together is that it's been our terms the whole time. You know, last time it was the TV show's terms and the record company and this time, you know, we decided to come back.
00:02:53
Speaker 3: We wanted to.
00:02:53
Speaker 4: You know, we do everything within the business, you know, So it's it's just been so rewarding this time because we it's literally us.
00:03:02
Speaker 1: Yeah, it's so much as a different platform now too, where you can have more control of things now versus back back in those days you kind of almost needed a record label and all these kind of things, right essentially because there wasn't social media like getting you know, back then you had the street teams putting up posters and exactly just doing all this stuff that now nowadays you need you could do by yourself, you know.
00:03:24
Speaker 3: Yeah, the one man army exactly. Yeah.
00:03:27
Speaker 4: And that's the thing is you can speak directly to the fans whenever you want. You could say what you want to them, tell them, let them know everything.
00:03:33
Speaker 3: And you couldn't.
00:03:34
Speaker 4: Yeah, you said you couldn't do that anywhere. You needed the label like you needed. The label was there to promote you, to put you on the radio. The only way that people could see you was if they heard your song on the radio. There's only twenty songs on each station. Yeah, there's twenty pop songs, there's twenty country songs.
00:03:51
Speaker 3: There's twenty hip hop songs that are out at any time.
00:03:53
Speaker 1: And it's just like TV also back then, so like MTV B.
00:03:55
Speaker 2: Exact top ten.
00:03:58
Speaker 4: You know, it's like, oh man, I knew every song back then, well yeah, there was only thirty five songs you had to know, you know, and you were like a human jukebox. Now, I mean, it's it's crazy, I mean, which is incredible.
00:04:09
Speaker 1: That's what I'm saying.
00:04:10
Speaker 4: Which allows us to be able to do to do that right, It's like finally, after all those years of like taking punches from the labels, you know, the artists are like, nah, br we don't need you like that, no, mo, you know, and and it's good, it's good, especially for a band like ours who has the audience built in. What we're trying to do is still let people know that we are back together. Yeah, you know, we've been back together for twelve years and there's still people like we just posted one of those Puerto Rico videos.
00:04:35
Speaker 3: Check it out. It's it's on our Instagram page. It's really funny, it's good.
00:04:40
Speaker 4: And so many people are like, you know, oh, I didn't know old towns back together.
00:04:44
Speaker 3: I didn't.
00:04:44
Speaker 4: So we're still trying to tap into our fans that were there back in the day that don't know that.
00:04:49
Speaker 3: You Dan, Eric, Yep, yep, the four of us. So it's been it's.
00:04:56
Speaker 2: Crazy and break it down like who does what now? Because I know you guys are young design.
00:05:01
Speaker 4: Okay, so so yeah, So Jacob is essentially the brand manager. So he comes from like a business family and and he got his business degree and he's the best in business. I mean he is, that dude is he is so good at business.
00:05:19
Speaker 3: It's crazy talking to people like he.
00:05:21
Speaker 4: Just I learned so much from just watching him because I react emotionally and he's he's just like always.
00:05:27
Speaker 3: Is like, well this is what this is what I'm thinking?
00:05:29
Speaker 4: This is what we're gonna you know, it's just too Dan does the graphic design, you know, with help of like Eric. That's kind of eric specialty as well, is like the art part of it because he did a bunch of producing and stuff and in the time we weren't together.
00:05:43
Speaker 3: And then I'm more stage. You know, Hey, I'm help do the what do we need on social media?
00:05:49
Speaker 1: Like you know you know that guy?
00:05:50
Speaker 3: Yea.
00:05:52
Speaker 1: So it's just crazy.
00:05:54
Speaker 3: Yes, it's like I couldn't be luckier.
00:06:00
Speaker 2: That's really cool.
00:06:01
Speaker 3: And we're great friends.
00:06:03
Speaker 1: We're great friends everyone.
00:06:07
Speaker 2: I do all of them and you just show up right.
00:06:10
Speaker 4: Sometimes that's someone's role though, but when he shows up, he's dropping the mic on him. You know, that's where he shines. You gotta let him shine where he shines. Kyp Is know your personnelity awards.
00:06:20
Speaker 2: Over here, we have we have let's go.
00:06:24
Speaker 1: Yeah.
00:06:25
Speaker 3: So yeah, you know, you know what it's like, you know what it's like exactly exactly.
00:06:31
Speaker 2: So what was like coming How did that decision come about? Because you guys came back, you did a gofund me for the album. The fans were integrated into every single part of the decision making process.
00:06:42
Speaker 3: Yeah, that was that was right.
00:06:45
Speaker 4: But the first when we came back with Lines and Circles, you know, it was like the ten years you know that's being broken up, and it was like, oh, it's the ten year anniversary that like, are we going to do this? Do you guys want to? You know, we had like some interest from like a label, and yeah, we just it was a long, very boring, drawn out story. We had like get Dan and Dan wasn't ready. They they just told him yes to every single demand he had, like yep, yep, yep, yep, yep, yep, and he's like, all right, I'll do it.
00:07:10
Speaker 3: And now you know, none of those demands were met, but now he's in it.
00:07:13
Speaker 1: Yeah, and we got him.
00:07:14
Speaker 3: So it's like one of those types of things.
00:07:16
Speaker 4: And then yeah, so then we just got got a label and we started talking about this album and the design and what we wanted to say. And you know what Lines and Circles means is, you know, it's ten years that we were you know, broken up, which is ten which you flip is a line in the circle the O and the line is the middle O and the O T O w N. So it's like, oh, town, ten years we got back together because you know, when people are so tight, you take this big you know, five people go and create their separate lines.
00:07:51
Speaker 3: You know, they go way out there. You're way out there.
00:07:53
Speaker 4: So everyone right, right, so it's a very hard, you know thing to do to circle back to each other.
00:08:00
Speaker 3: Yea, So lines and circles. That was like Eric's thing, and then he wrote the song music.
00:08:05
Speaker 1: If you guys sit down, do you guys sit down together and create new music and write?
00:08:09
Speaker 3: We sit down and talk about you know what, everyone what it's going to be.
00:08:12
Speaker 4: But we all have different like yeah, exactly, and the writing styles are always so different, you know. So we do a lot of our writing separate and then come in and then the production of the song that we chose is all like really us together.
00:08:24
Speaker 1: But that's awesome because everyone has gone on their own journey in life, right, and to be able to come back together and now hopefully put those journeys you know, into music, Yeah, that's awesome.
00:08:35
Speaker 3: Yeah.
00:08:35
Speaker 2: Do you also fight over cereal in the writer's camp?
00:08:38
Speaker 3: No? No, no, now, now we fight over like you know, I eat all the grapes. You know, it's like did you eat that whole bag?
00:08:44
Speaker 2: I'm like sorry you and then have a cool competition about this.
00:08:52
Speaker 3: Not every venue we go to, but a lot of them.
00:08:54
Speaker 4: We if there's if it's like something extravagant, like we played this thing called the Melody Tent up in highnas Cape cod and so we like.
00:09:01
Speaker 3: To he throws grapes. He threw a grape over.
00:09:04
Speaker 4: The entire venue and I catch it in my mouth, Like, you know.
00:09:09
Speaker 1: It sounds like choking, has it?
00:09:11
Speaker 3: It definitely is.
00:09:11
Speaker 1: I have.
00:09:12
Speaker 4: I have choked one time. I almost like swallowed it. But you know, if you can throw them further than you can marshmallows.
00:09:19
Speaker 1: Funny story talking about that. This is totally off topic. I went to a hibachi the other day. I'm gonna say which hibashi it was, right, and so and I took my kids with their kids, and we all know that's part of going to the hibachi experience throwing food. And they didn't do it really, and I was like, hey, you guys don't, So I asked. I was like hyping the kids, like the kids works throw it in your mouth. It was like it was gonna be a competition, yeah, of course, and they were like, unfortunately, we don't. We can't do that anymore because somebody choked one day doing it and now they're suing the establishment of course, so they're like the whole country stopped doing oh yeah, because.
00:09:53
Speaker 3: And I was like, oh wow, that makes perfect sense.
00:09:55
Speaker 1: I would have a sign of the front, like trying to catch food, right you.
00:10:01
Speaker 3: Yeah, it's like you're being recorded.
00:10:03
Speaker 4: You're you know, like if you're trying to do this, because you can't get everyone to sign something.
00:10:07
Speaker 3: But if you put up.
00:10:07
Speaker 1: Something, you put up something when they walk in.
00:10:09
Speaker 3: I'm went you because that that was you know that, you know the.
00:10:12
Speaker 1: Next thing, you know, they're things volcano with the fire.
00:10:17
Speaker 2: But when we went with Victoria, they didn't do that, and that's about your place.
00:10:21
Speaker 3: That sucks, you know what. That's one of those things that's like, man, that sucks. But like but if it was me, same damn thing. You know, it's like they don't do that anymore. But if that was me, you.
00:10:32
Speaker 1: Know, I begin.
00:10:34
Speaker 4: Yeah, yeah, that's one of those that you know, not like a slipping fall anything that's like my fault.
00:10:40
Speaker 1: Yeah. I can understand though, too, because they try to force like this how many times you.
00:10:43
Speaker 4: Better take like she's got knives and come on, you better take.
00:10:48
Speaker 1: This, you're saying, no, they're like the broccoli just like you know it.
00:10:54
Speaker 3: That is funny.
00:10:55
Speaker 2: Well, now we know what happens.
00:10:57
Speaker 1: We got to eat it over Yeah.
00:11:00
Speaker 3: So we throw it over venues.
00:11:01
Speaker 1: Yeah, at a table you could choke. Imagine it coming speed.
00:11:06
Speaker 2: But y'all have never posted the bad ones.
00:11:08
Speaker 3: You just yeah we were you know, so how many how many did that take? How many takes?
00:11:14
Speaker 1: Was girls?
00:11:14
Speaker 4: Let's not try Like the one that I caught over the over the tent was like my it was my first catchable one, So they're not all catchable. He's throwing it over a thing, so it's like way left, way right, So that like to me that that doesn't count for me.
00:11:29
Speaker 3: Yeah, that's that's not an over because I couldn't.
00:11:31
Speaker 2: I wonder different.
00:11:33
Speaker 3: Yeah, I played sports, Yeah'm a sports guy sports.
00:11:36
Speaker 4: So it's like, oh, I caught the second catchable one. You know I only dropped one or yeah, so that's how I counted. It's like, Muhammad Ali, you.
00:11:43
Speaker 1: Know that I'm going to throw some broccoli or something that you broccoli?
00:11:50
Speaker 2: Why can't I throw things at you?
00:11:51
Speaker 1: Ice or something?
00:11:53
Speaker 3: I don't know, I've seen marshmallow.
00:11:54
Speaker 1: Don't think you have the arm.
00:11:55
Speaker 3: I've seen Marshmallows on on on on on Instagram.
00:11:58
Speaker 1: Marshmallows, I would think of worse.
00:11:59
Speaker 3: Marsh, know because they just they just they like they get like if you haven't been a blue man groups.
00:12:07
Speaker 4: Right exactly, it doesn't get the distance of a grape. So so for us, it's better to do a great We actually we actually did the Guinness Book a world record, right, but we didn't have anybody that we didn't know it was a record. We looked it up after the fact that we're like, dude, we already did, but you have to have someone.
00:12:22
Speaker 1: There, you have to have to be on site.
00:12:23
Speaker 3: Yeah, So we are going back to that tent this summer, so I think we might we have to do it again. Yeah, I know, I know.
00:12:35
Speaker 2: Well, when you do the crews do it from one end to the other two.
00:12:38
Speaker 3: While the boat's moving, right, Yeah, that could be you.
00:12:41
Speaker 2: Can do that too.
00:12:41
Speaker 1: That takes that of an arm. So who's the one throw to show you?
00:12:47
Speaker 4: We both were sports guys first, ye yeah.
00:12:54
Speaker 2: Man, speaking of longevity right, like that we can yeah, speaking of longevity, right, So your music has transcended through generations. What is it like now seeing our generation coming in with the kiddos, and the kiddos knowing the songs and crying at the concerts and all the things.
00:13:16
Speaker 4: Yeah, that is something that is still really it's it's crazy, it's it's it's it's a great thing that when you see it, it's because my nieces and nephews that I'm like, you know, you want them. You know, they're like, oh, that's my uncle. But they're not like bumping it, you know what I mean. Like these these kids are like it's like obligatory. Yeah, there, they know they're there.
00:13:38
Speaker 3: It's crazy, man, they're eight nine and they're just like, you know, they're looking ats like how their parents, you know, how their mom used to and you know, the mom's like you're fine, it's okay, it's good, you know, and and and it's so it's so cool, man. Our fans are the best and the kids, i mean the kids so.
00:13:54
Speaker 4: To be able to to do it again to the next generation, you know, and they like the new songs to you know, it's like the new stuff. They learned the old stuff, but they like, you know, they like skydive and.
00:14:04
Speaker 3: Off and it's amazing the newer stuff.
00:14:07
Speaker 1: Yeah.
00:14:07
Speaker 4: So that's it's always cool man, it's it's surreal. It's surreal to be honest, because we know it's not we're not new kids, you know, because something right millions and they've been going through it for years, so it's not you know, it's a rare occurrence, you know. So I love when the kids are there, Like there's girls that come and watch, you know, I do like solo stuff too, that are coming to that.
00:14:30
Speaker 3: You know, they're like twelve thirteen.
00:14:32
Speaker 4: And then there's like high school girls now that are starting to show up and they're like, oh man, you know, like oh because I know a teacher and a teacher you know, showed them and they're like, wow, that's dope, you know, saying that's cool when it's because then they make that they made their mind up on their own, you know, they weren't force fed by someone, and you know it was like, hey, oh, I know this band, like oh you know who is that? It's this band, Like I'm not you guys can listen if you want. And then they come back and they're like, yo, we listened. It was the you know that's cool.
00:14:55
Speaker 3: That's like you hear those stories that's like.
00:14:57
Speaker 2: Well, like what Dreams did like a comeback on TikTok. Yeah, it was trending really yeah when yeah, so millennials were like listening back and it's like we never realized what the song was. So because of that, like it started trending with gen Z and they started doing all these videos, like their own videos to the music video.
00:15:18
Speaker 3: Wow.
00:15:19
Speaker 2: I know because my nephew said that to me. It's like, Mammy, look the guys that you used to listen to.
00:15:24
Speaker 3: I was like, yeah, that is incredible. Can you send that to me?
00:15:27
Speaker 1: Yeah?
00:15:28
Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, you remember where it is.
00:15:29
Speaker 2: In his text TikTok or TikTok Okay that's probably don't Yeah yeah, it was a little while ago, but I said, TikTok yeah, no, you just do them.
00:15:42
Speaker 1: Just do one. I only do the tiktoks that you forced me to do.
00:15:45
Speaker 2: But they come out great, don't they.
00:15:47
Speaker 4: That is another thing that's like that we were so when we've been back together, the one thing we were really lacking.
00:15:54
Speaker 3: Was social media and we knew it.
00:15:57
Speaker 4: Were like that's not like we would be good at it, but we have no one that's like all right, guys, let's do this today.
00:16:02
Speaker 3: Let's do this today. Like we just don't.
00:16:04
Speaker 4: If I come with something like it would just be like like no, we just wouldn't.
00:16:08
Speaker 3: You know what I mean.
00:16:09
Speaker 4: We do the grape toss, but like that's just me and Dan. I only one person like to be able to get. But we finally got like a guy.
00:16:18
Speaker 3: Yeah, so we have and and and we always knew that if we had the person, we would be into it and and good at it essentially.
00:16:27
Speaker 4: Yeah, when you tell them to be like hey, I saw this one, let's do this, and we're like it boom, you know. And so like you said, like our social media has been like this is our first time really having it. So we've been back together for this whole time that has been on there, and all we've done is like.
00:16:40
Speaker 3: Oh, here's our show, here's our show.
00:16:42
Speaker 4: Like you know, just promoting the live show, and we haven't really done social media.
00:16:46
Speaker 3: So it's really fun to do social media as a job.
00:16:49
Speaker 1: I get it. It's like it's a full time job.
00:16:51
Speaker 3: Oh, it's definitely a full time job.
00:16:53
Speaker 4: And that's why I realize everybody has social media media managers and that's why that is such a huge commodity. And if you can do that for people, young people out there, whoever you are or if you want to be a social media manager.
00:17:05
Speaker 3: Is they are needed.
00:17:07
Speaker 1: By everyone because not everyone has it.
00:17:10
Speaker 3: Yeah, not everyone gets.
00:17:11
Speaker 4: There's so many people I know they're like, oh, I would love to do like a podcast or whatever, but I.
00:17:15
Speaker 3: Just I don't.
00:17:17
Speaker 4: They don't have the kick in the butt to do it right. They need the friend or the someone else who's like, I'll do it with you. I know how to set up a mic and do all the stuff. You just show you just show up and do your thing. I'll take care of everything else.
00:17:29
Speaker 3: That's what really a lot, That's what we talked about. That's what we talked about earlier.
00:17:37
Speaker 2: Well, a dozen platforms per brands, so it's what platforms. Every platform is different. You have to cater to those. I'm getting marketing, you have to cater so I myself run seven different brands on social media. That's not talking Berkeley College, that's my clients myself. It's a lot. And then when you post on the wrong page, it's always fun.
00:17:56
Speaker 4: So yeah, that kid is that run them right well, especially when they're when they're at the age when they know the ones and they're like, yeah, do this with me.
00:18:07
Speaker 1: Cool?
00:18:07
Speaker 3: Yeah, they're like, yeah, yeah, what is it?
00:18:09
Speaker 1: You know.
00:18:10
Speaker 3: That's like yo, you know what's.
00:18:11
Speaker 1: Not Ye'll be asking what's the latest oneander me and my wife's oh, he's going to turn ten now. Just the other day I went in the kitchen and he's making cookies or something. But on he's filming. I'm like, what are you doing? And his brothers on the other side of lights and I'm tell you, guys, he's like making it. We're making a.
00:18:27
Speaker 5: YouTube thing of how to make biscuits. And I'm like, nice as long as when you're yeh yeah, And that's the thing. Now it's like, all right, we are you doing.
00:18:37
Speaker 4: Something productive, something fun with your you know, with your sibling, like hey, let's do this. You know, it kind of creates a bond with because now they're kind of working together.
00:18:47
Speaker 2: But the growing up in this digital age, we didn't have that.
00:18:50
Speaker 3: Right right, right, We did it.
00:18:52
Speaker 1: We were just us.
00:18:53
Speaker 4: We were doing it for imagination, correct, you know I was doing that like all right, you're this you know what I mean?
00:18:58
Speaker 1: Well, it was hand to hand back then, Like what we said, like if you wanted people to hear your stuff, you had to go out there physically promoted from posters to flyers. Like we talked about this in another episode. You know, obviously when I was DJing and doing parties back in it, I used to go cut my own flyers, create the flyers and then cut them in for sure, pass them out and go to the clubs and have people outside and put them on cars and do that where now it's like, you know, you just posting things. Well, actually that got you started getting fines for that, so that's the real answer.
00:19:28
Speaker 2: I think you're just lacking. I should do some street promo.
00:19:31
Speaker 1: I think you should. You should be you look like you know, you should.
00:19:33
Speaker 2: Get I have been saying that I'll do your link tree, but.
00:19:36
Speaker 1: You said you're gonna do the link tree. Yeah.
00:19:39
Speaker 2: Anyways, we'll get to link tree on LinkedIn later with your club events and manage this brand now too, there's a lot.
00:19:47
Speaker 1: I have one thing I'll post on his Instagram and then that because you can put it where it gets sent out everywhere else.
00:19:53
Speaker 2: That makes TikTok has been inactive. It's just gray.
00:19:56
Speaker 1: No, he doesn't remember the past. I have to log into something else that's not happening.
00:20:01
Speaker 2: I love it. But speaking of evolution and fan engagement and touring. What is touring like now versus how it was because you guys were in Europe, you were in all these places, So how has it evolved for you guys?
00:20:16
Speaker 4: Well, it has It's well, you know, your body is different, that's the first thing.
00:20:21
Speaker 3: Yeah, you know, uh, it's it's you know, the way we do it. We do like three or four shows every weekend for like throughout the summer. So we'll do like three and then we go home three and then we go home three, then we go home.
00:20:34
Speaker 4: And it's always a different venue. So it's it's not the stage is always completely different, like the fans are always like in a different situation.
00:20:42
Speaker 3: Whereas back in the.
00:20:43
Speaker 4: Day we had our stage that we toured with our stuff and everything was kind of the same every night.
00:20:47
Speaker 1: You knew where the steps were right right.
00:20:48
Speaker 4: You know, there's a little bit more of the like, oh what do we got tonight, fellas, you know what I'm saying, Like every game is like you know when you go play a different baseball stadium, you know, I was the outfield like tonight home one of my steps.
00:20:58
Speaker 3: You know that kind of thing, which is very cool. But you know, we don't have the bus. Now.
00:21:03
Speaker 4: You know, we just like we're getting like cars and you know, go to the first city and then drive, drive, drive to the next three cities. Then we leave, and you know it's still the screams are still as loud.
00:21:14
Speaker 3: Man. I mean, I don't know if that's just because.
00:21:16
Speaker 4: Our hearing is less, but feels like the screams are still as loud. So that's that. You know, there's that, But it's you know what we have a problem. It's like we want to do more hotel music because we're doing the Pop two thousand tour. You know, were we got two hours to fit all these actions.
00:21:34
Speaker 2: To the Pop two thousand tour. Yeah. I started a couple of years ago with Dream ninety degrees.
00:21:39
Speaker 4: That was the two K tour right now, and then we turned it to the Pop two thousands.
00:21:44
Speaker 2: Sink, b B Mac, Brian Cabrera.
00:21:46
Speaker 4: Yeah, it's been it's been our baby. It's it's you know, we've been doing it since twenty seventeen. We had Aaron Carter, you know the first iteration of it rip and you know, it's just it's it's just continued to grow and grow and grow, and you know, Chris and Sink, you know, he's been great. He hosts the thing and we got a DJ now and it's it's been really fun to see this thing grow like that we kind of started.
00:22:14
Speaker 1: It's gotta be awesome just to be able still to just do what you love.
00:22:18
Speaker 3: Yeah, man, say it every day less man Like every day I'm like, man, I get this is what I'm going to do. I'm never like, oh man, I got to go to work.
00:22:29
Speaker 2: Another concert. Yeah yeah, nothing again.
00:22:33
Speaker 3: Yeah. It never feels like that. It's crazy and and you know, the day of the day it does. I don't know how. I don't know what that will feel like. I just don't. I don't know when when it went away from COVID.
00:22:48
Speaker 4: During COVID that was I even gave it more of that, you know, because we're doing it, you know, we do it full time essentially. We're touring all year round. We don't just do like June and July thirty shows.
00:23:03
Speaker 3: You know, it's all year. We have lighter months like January and the world.
00:23:09
Speaker 4: But you know, right, yeah, and we haven't even really been overseas minute overseas.
00:23:12
Speaker 3: Oh.
00:23:12
Speaker 4: Our very first show back together in twenty thirteen or fourteen, our very first show was in London under the Bridge and I was it.
00:23:22
Speaker 3: It was incredible.
00:23:23
Speaker 1: I mean it was so you guys should get back out there.
00:23:25
Speaker 6: I know.
00:23:26
Speaker 3: Yeah, we want to. We want to get back out there Germany. You know now that like I said, now there's social media. All these people are like, you'll come here. We went to the Philippines right before COVID.
00:23:36
Speaker 4: We were supposed to go back, but COVID we haven't been back because since COVID.
00:23:40
Speaker 3: Yeah, so we're still trying to get back to the Philippines.
00:23:42
Speaker 1: But yeah, man, that's the greatest thing about music. By the way, I had gotten into producing and making records and then never forget. I was sending different artists tracks to record on and Pitbulls a close friend of mine. So I was talking to Pitbull one time. He's like, hey, just remember that, don't make music for like where you live. He's like, the world is a really big, right. And then when I start going in djaing with iHeart and going overseas, and I was in Greece and in Spain and France and in all different places, you hear all this other music there and it's so big and dance music and all like Piople records. I'm like, this is what he really means. He's like, yeah, like this music is everywhere, so yeah, sure, that's so great. Like you guys could go everywhere and perform, and they talk about that a lot of time with artists, Like a lot of artists. Sometimes people think they're not doing nothing. I'm like, are you kidding me? These guys have been on tour for yeah, forever, they're just not here, but they're.
00:24:29
Speaker 2: Right, but they're everywhere else. Yeah, and every market is different, the demands are different.
00:24:36
Speaker 3: You know, it's crazy. I love we get to do those casinos. Casinos are the best.
00:24:41
Speaker 1: Well, you know there's one here now, like an official one here.
00:24:43
Speaker 3: Yeah. Where where is.
00:24:45
Speaker 1: World Resorts World?
00:24:46
Speaker 3: Oh yeah, we performed there.
00:24:48
Speaker 1: Yeah, but now they have now they have actual.
00:24:50
Speaker 3: Now it's a full craps and it's like for them.
00:24:55
Speaker 1: Right but everything, you know, it's the only one, the only play in town.
00:24:59
Speaker 3: So wow.
00:25:00
Speaker 1: The casinos here off digital and slot machines and stuff like that. Where queens, I don't want to say the wrong area, it's definite queens.
00:25:09
Speaker 2: Yeah, it's it's another place for you to gig.
00:25:12
Speaker 1: Yeah, they're and they're they're they're going big like they're they're building like a concert venue there, and.
00:25:17
Speaker 4: They're building area there, club getting in the casino.
00:25:22
Speaker 1: I think they're all trying to So I don't this one that opened now. I know NAS is part of and I think there's three licenses from understanding that went out in New York. But I don't have enough knowledge to sit here and speak on exactly who's getting the other ones, whether they're all still tied under the same umbrella, or I did hear about jay Z and them trying. I know they wanted to open one right here in Manhattan.
00:25:42
Speaker 3: Yeah, that's what I so.
00:25:43
Speaker 1: But I think that one either got denied or it's not approved yet. So all right, but that's gonna be fun.
00:25:50
Speaker 2: Opening a casino, pro right, stick with Starbucks.
00:25:54
Speaker 1: Yes, let's stick with it. Let me try to open the Starbucks for us. We're going to open up a lemonade stand before I open up.
00:26:03
Speaker 4: If you open up a Starbucks, you have to hire robots to do the ordering.
00:26:08
Speaker 1: Yeah.
00:26:08
Speaker 3: Yeah, man, these kids don't got it no more.
00:26:11
Speaker 1: Man, they don't got it.
00:26:12
Speaker 3: Don't got it no more.
00:26:13
Speaker 1: Well, you know, it depends. That's a whole nother conversation.
00:26:16
Speaker 2: Conversation where you live really where.
00:26:18
Speaker 1: Yeah, if you live in an area where where the workers that were like the people, the employees are coming and going a lot, that's when it's the worst. When you live in an area where the same employee has been there for years, those are the best ones. You know, your drinks, they don't mess up blah. Yeah, when you walk in new people, that's when.
00:26:35
Speaker 3: You're like, man, so yeah, oh yeah research that what don your market research?
00:26:45
Speaker 1: No, this is just life research, that's just life.
00:26:47
Speaker 3: That's legit is messing up the orders. That's awareness.
00:26:51
Speaker 1: And and you say yourself like, wish I was back, this would never happen back home.
00:26:54
Speaker 2: Oh my god. Right, well, let's get into the fun. Yes, I get into into some interesting questions.
00:27:02
Speaker 3: Okay, all right, questions.
00:27:04
Speaker 2: All right, we all know liquid dreams all or nothing anthems. Yes, let's just call it what it is. Yes, Oh to the most underrated album ever.
00:27:13
Speaker 3: Okay, I just appreciate that. Yeah, yeah, two was great. The entire album is that'll be twenty five years next year.
00:27:20
Speaker 2: Yeah, it's after hits. But if you could go back to the beginning of the trajectory, the distogography, what is your favorite song man from from and it may have changed. Maybe it was something different then versus now.
00:27:35
Speaker 3: I mean, all or nothing is always going to be the thing.
00:27:39
Speaker 4: It's just it really is that good of a song, yeah, that you don't ever get sick of it singing it.
00:27:46
Speaker 3: It's the reason I have a job, you know.
00:27:49
Speaker 4: I mean, it's just like just yeah, it's the It's the only song we have that everybody sings to. Like, you know, so you go to a Backstreet show, you sing to the whole time you're at the fear every song is a singalo like, that's not our catalog, that's not how it rolls. So that moment every night is that much like means that much more, I guess.
00:28:10
Speaker 5: So.
00:28:12
Speaker 3: But now for just listening to and hearing, you know, like what I want to hear. I don't know, man, I never Everybody always kind of asked that, I never.
00:28:20
Speaker 2: Really do you listen to your stuff or you're like, no, I listen.
00:28:23
Speaker 3: To the newer stuff.
00:28:25
Speaker 4: Yeah, and then if I want to go down, like man, let me just you know hear it.
00:28:29
Speaker 3: Yeah.
00:28:29
Speaker 4: You know, you're like we are about to do the twenty five year anniversary of the first albums, right, you know, I've been like kind.
00:28:35
Speaker 3: Of listening to it and you know, the whole album. Yeah, we're doing the.
00:28:39
Speaker 2: Whole entire album with the choreography and everything.
00:28:41
Speaker 3: Maybe choreography, you guys will top on it.
00:28:45
Speaker 2: Let me say something, Let me say something. You guys dance, you get up there, you do choreo?
00:28:50
Speaker 4: Yes, yeah, and we will continue to do choreo. I was at home this week, uh, choreographing our new song. Well yeah, thinking about you.
00:29:01
Speaker 2: Know, you may need some being gay and a spandages now, but I.
00:29:03
Speaker 4: Mean, yeah, you know, this is what I'll tell anybody that's twenties thirties recovery. Recovery is just as important as the workout.
00:29:14
Speaker 3: Don't beat yourself. Don't beat yourself.
00:29:16
Speaker 4: Up for years and years and years and then try to start recovering at forty six.
00:29:21
Speaker 3: You know, I never I never like focused on recovery. Yeah, it was never a thing. It was never you know, it's a thing now. You know, kids know it. You know it's what you're gonna be athletes. You got to go into recovery, you know. So that's that'd be the advice you.
00:29:36
Speaker 4: Give there you go, So yeah, I don't know to answer your question. The newer music, like you know, lines of Circles.
00:29:45
Speaker 1: Yeah, that's normally how it's like whatever the newest song you've done is is kind of like your favorite at the time.
00:29:53
Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah for sure.
00:29:56
Speaker 4: But yeah, just because these these two albums are so different than the in the first two, because it's you know, it's the only four of us, you know, it's like, you know.
00:30:05
Speaker 3: There's more, you know, like I wrap more on these two then.
00:30:12
Speaker 4: There was never that on the first one really, so just it's and like I said, we write and produce all of them now, so it's like it's way more and more us.
00:30:20
Speaker 3: So I'm just we're just closer to it.
00:30:22
Speaker 4: Not that we didn't write the stuff back in the day, but it's so far then we're like trying to be what we are now.
00:30:28
Speaker 3: So it's you know, yeah, No, we have our new music is Fire.
00:30:33
Speaker 2: It's really good.
00:30:34
Speaker 3: I love our news. I can bump it. I'm like, these are good.
00:30:39
Speaker 2: No, they're good. Yeah. We Fit Together? Is it for me?
00:30:43
Speaker 3: We fit So we have a new version of that now that we're going to release this year.
00:30:48
Speaker 2: Fires is an exclusive.
00:30:50
Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, new version of We Fit Together.
00:30:52
Speaker 4: We've been performing, we've been performing at the Pop two thousand, So if you come to Pop two thousand, you'll hear it. And then we're going to release it later this year with our new single and then and then re recording of all or Nothing nice because because we've been singing in this new way now for the last fifteen years, we're like, well, we're going to release it.
00:31:12
Speaker 3: Let's sing it. How we sing it now?
00:31:15
Speaker 2: Amazing? Well, thanks for the exclusive, Yeah, break an exclusive. Yeah, you gotta come. We gotta do a fun time. I gotta come to the next show.
00:31:29
Speaker 3: May or may not be something in the city towards the end of the.
00:31:33
Speaker 2: Year, Okay, keep us posted.
00:31:37
Speaker 4: Us may be in there, hopefully leaning towards the man. I think I think I think it will be leaning towards the may. But yeah, we could, uh you know, we could get the whole squad, like I said.
00:31:50
Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, the squad, super dope, super dope. All right, so we have two.
00:31:54
Speaker 1: More live episode.
00:31:56
Speaker 2: We could do a live We do a live every season. This season in Shaggy was our episode one, which was a lot of fun.
00:32:02
Speaker 1: Were in the headquarters.
00:32:04
Speaker 2: Yeah, we could do live episode. All beans, it's gonna flip out all the chairs but it's gonna be good.
00:32:12
Speaker 1: Let's do it fun.
00:32:14
Speaker 2: Yeah, it'll be fun, all right, Trev. We got to ask the question. So many documentaries and things that have come out the Loup Pelman story, there's been the most recent one where you guys spoke about things that typically you haven't spoke about in the past. Given the trajectory of everything you guys went through through the music industry and all of these things, would you do this all over again?
00:32:39
Speaker 3: Absolutely?
00:32:41
Speaker 4: Yeah, I mean yeah, I mean my experience has been what it has been has been incredible.
00:32:50
Speaker 3: I mean, so we didn't.
00:32:52
Speaker 4: Get paid by Blue Yeah, Alo twenty one. I had the rest of my life ahead of me. I mean, I'm not gonna whatever. That was the only bad thing to happen from my experience, you know, the money side of everything else is like, yeah, of course I would love to do this again.
00:33:11
Speaker 3: I'd love to Yeah, knowing what I know, No, of course.
00:33:15
Speaker 2: If you could give your younger self one piece of advice, what would that be?
00:33:19
Speaker 3: M I would say that is a loaded question. There's a ton there. Mm hmm, go even harder, go even harder.
00:33:40
Speaker 2: That's a good piece of advice. I like, Yeah, you want to close out with our special question. Now you do it the best I've been asking all the questions this episode.
00:33:51
Speaker 1: Well, I mean you have a shirt on which hopefully get signed today.
00:33:55
Speaker 2: Wow bro, wow, okay, okay, whatever, your greatness and true teach me something fashion. If you could describe what you would want your legacy to be in one word, what would that be?
00:34:20
Speaker 1: Another loaded questions.
00:34:22
Speaker 2: Trumps like Penny, we did not discuss this on our call. Yeah, you can think about it, edit and post. Liam's like, we're so over it's nine.
00:34:42
Speaker 6: Oh yeah, yeah, talented, just say just talented.
00:34:53
Speaker 1: Talented?
00:34:54
Speaker 2: Okay, why are you looking for approval? It's your word, that's.
00:34:57
Speaker 3: What Yeah, dude, it was talented.
00:35:02
Speaker 1: Yea, there you go.
00:35:04
Speaker 3: That's all I got.
00:35:05
Speaker 1: Talent? Is it going? Hey?
00:35:07
Speaker 2: Listen, you've survived this long and we hope there's twenty five more years of Old Town in the books, and we look forward to all of these concerts. There's there's cruises coming up, right. You have the boy band Cruise.
00:35:22
Speaker 4: Boy band Cruise, it's sold out, boy band Creuse, sold out, comedy on the tickets.
00:35:29
Speaker 1: So the music is timeless, you know, that's just so great about it. So twenty from now, you'll still be really talking about it exactly.
00:35:36
Speaker 2: You'll still be singing all or nothing as.
00:35:38
Speaker 3: Long as people are still coming. Like people are still coming.
00:35:41
Speaker 1: And you have the new younger fans that you know. Yeah, that's the great thing about it.
00:35:44
Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, it's it's quite a journey man telling you. It's crazy scene. Everyone grows together.
00:35:52
Speaker 1: Yeah yeah, so it's like, that's awesome.
00:35:54
Speaker 4: Look where we are. They're bringing pictures from back. Yeah, I'm holding this, you know, I'm holding her.
00:35:59
Speaker 3: Yeah yeah, you know, oh my god, as an adult. Yeah no, I'm holding her now, I'm holding her child.
00:36:05
Speaker 1: Yeah yeah, oh yeah, yeah, that's you.
00:36:07
Speaker 3: Know, it's like the generation. It's like, what's crazy? Man, So blessed.
