00:00:03.600 --> 00:00:05.040
The world is loud.
00:00:05.839 --> 00:00:07.759
Truth feels confusing.
00:00:07.919 --> 00:00:13.039
And life has a way of making us forget what matters most.
00:00:13.519 --> 00:00:19.199
Black prescription, honest conversation, and real stories of faith.
00:00:19.519 --> 00:00:24.160
Remember who the king is exist for one purpose.
00:00:24.719 --> 00:00:26.879
Point Jesus.
00:00:27.359 --> 00:00:29.280
This is more than a podcast.
00:00:29.440 --> 00:00:30.559
It's a reminder.
00:00:31.280 --> 00:00:35.119
The king is still on the throne.
00:00:44.719 --> 00:00:47.359
Welcome back to Remember Who the King Is.
00:00:47.520 --> 00:00:52.479
Today we are going to jump right into something that I hope will inspire you.
00:00:52.640 --> 00:01:00.240
Last time, uh Mark gave us an overview of a mission trip he went on abroad, and it was incredible.
00:01:00.320 --> 00:01:07.599
And today I want to ask Donnie to talk a little bit about a ministry that he is involved in.
00:01:07.680 --> 00:01:17.359
I'll let him fill you in on it, but it's a ministry that can reach literally hundreds, thousands of people as it spreads through the place where he ministers.
00:01:17.519 --> 00:01:22.239
But I want to read a verse before we start off, and it's Acts 1.8.
00:01:22.560 --> 00:01:31.840
It's a passage that says, You will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, in all of Judea, and Samaria and to the ends of the earth.
00:01:32.000 --> 00:01:33.840
And I love the progression Jesus gives here.
00:01:33.920 --> 00:01:37.040
He says, Jerusalem, Judea, Samaria, the ends of the earth.
00:01:37.120 --> 00:01:41.680
In other words, here, near here, and then people different from us.
00:01:41.760 --> 00:01:43.840
So he starts with the here.
00:01:43.920 --> 00:01:48.879
And I feel like this ministry that Donnie is going to talk about is that kind of ministry.
00:01:49.040 --> 00:01:52.239
Donnie, tell us a little bit about the ministry and you're you're involved in.
00:01:52.400 --> 00:01:57.439
What inspired you to get into that ministry and how you think it is effective in spreading the gospel?
00:01:57.760 --> 00:02:03.359
Well, you know, last time we had a chance to hear Mark talk about his mission trip, which is just so inspiring.
00:02:03.439 --> 00:02:20.800
You know, and there are many people who do who like Mark are brave enough and you know and committed enough to the gospel to go to different parts of the world and and you know and share the gospel message through Acts and service as well as you know the gospel, teaching and talking about the Bible.
00:02:21.039 --> 00:02:42.800
And a few years ago, I had an opportunity to uh go meet some people in um Kansas who started a ministry called the Nathan Project, and when they did that, they that act that ministry actually started after they lost a child who was playing in a high school football game, and they uh were a very um very faithful Christian family.
00:02:42.879 --> 00:03:00.960
That was a very large part of Nathan Styles' life, and so his uh his family started a ministry where they give Bibles to people and uh trying to reach people for Jesus because that was that was the that was that was the the the main purpose of of Nathan's mission in life.
00:03:01.039 --> 00:03:07.840
He was just that kind of a Christian, outstanding young man, and so when they did that, those Bibles started going.
00:03:07.919 --> 00:03:12.080
You know, and uh once the Bible starts going, now it's gonna accomplish something wherever it goes.
00:03:13.520 --> 00:03:16.000
The Bible says, My word will not return to me void.
00:03:16.080 --> 00:03:18.479
It will accomplish what I intend for it to do.
00:03:18.719 --> 00:03:20.719
And I got to know Nathan's father.
00:03:20.879 --> 00:03:28.319
I just was very inspired by what they were doing, and I just had such a heart for their family to respond to a tragedy in that way.
00:03:28.719 --> 00:03:41.360
And I got a chance to go out to Kansas and meet them and write a book about their story and got to visit with Nathan's dad and his his family and you know see what the work that they were doing for Jesus, right?
00:03:41.680 --> 00:03:44.319
And one of the places it the Bibles went everywhere.
00:03:44.400 --> 00:03:51.280
They went on college campuses, they went like like Mark, Nathan's sister went to mission trips in Nicaragua.
00:03:51.439 --> 00:03:58.800
They they went to different places around uh in different countries, you know, um spreading the uh gospel.
00:03:58.960 --> 00:04:37.439
And one of the places that the Bible took Ron was it took him into uh detention centers and drug rehabs, and it took him into county jails and prisons where people needed to hear the gospel, and they they didn't have Bibles, and it was just something that, you know, began to happen, and I got an opportunity while I was there to meet people in different types of ministries, but it just really struck me, you know, how uh how much the people in a a prison or detention center or a drug rehab appreciated, like Mark was saying, people coming in there to help, right?
00:04:37.519 --> 00:04:49.839
You know, Mark, you know, he he just came back from from you know his mission trip and he get he could see how grateful people were, you know, to have the you know the uh gospel spread in those places.
00:04:49.920 --> 00:04:52.639
And you know, Jesus said, Did you visit me in the hospital?
00:04:52.800 --> 00:04:54.639
Did you visit me in prison?
00:04:54.800 --> 00:05:03.920
You know, so when I came back and after getting to know Nathan's dad, Ron Stiles, uh I s you know, I just sort of said, Well, you know what, I'd like to do that.
00:05:04.079 --> 00:05:06.000
I think that that that's important.
00:05:06.160 --> 00:05:15.120
And um I got a chance to uh begin to do that with some kids and uh details that are not too far from where I live.
00:05:15.360 --> 00:05:29.040
And when you go in there and you get to see these young people, these, you know, and they're you know, when you get to see them and get to know them, you realize, you know, that their circumstances in many cases took them into these places.
00:05:29.120 --> 00:05:37.199
I mean they were they were cr they've been in incredibly difficult situations and like we've talked about before, everybody's got something.
00:05:37.600 --> 00:05:50.639
Everybody's got something we're dealing with, and I you know, you just get the sense that I get more out of it, I think, than they do when I get to go see them because, you know, I can tell that they appreciate you coming to see them.
00:05:50.879 --> 00:06:03.040
And I think not only are people in detention centers or or prisons or in the drug rehab or whatever, there are people all around us that need somebody to go see them.
00:06:03.199 --> 00:06:05.439
They need they need somebody to talk to.
00:06:05.519 --> 00:06:15.360
You know, we all need relationships, and you know, we've talked about this some before in the social media world where we live a lot of times.
00:06:15.680 --> 00:06:23.040
Um, and with the internet and all that, we're not interacting with people as much as we did when, say, Mark and I were younger.
00:06:23.120 --> 00:06:26.720
You know, when Mark and I were younger, if you wanted to see your buddy, you had to go see him.
00:06:26.879 --> 00:06:36.639
If if you want to talk to a girl, you had to go to her house, or you had to, you know, and you had to make arrangements and you had to show up because you didn't have a cell phone to tell them you won't come.
00:06:36.879 --> 00:06:38.879
I mean, you had to go, you had to be there.
00:06:39.120 --> 00:06:56.079
And I think uh the relationship aspect of going on a mission trip like Mark went on, or going into a detention center, or or doing whatever it is where you can engage people, particularly people who have a need, and you just show up.
00:06:56.480 --> 00:06:58.720
I mean, you just show up regularly.
00:06:58.959 --> 00:07:03.680
I think that's a great way for us to engage people and share the love of Christ.
00:07:03.839 --> 00:07:11.279
I mean, I think that's something we all could do right where we live if we were more attuned to what's going on around us.
00:07:11.439 --> 00:07:12.800
How do you guys feel about that?
00:07:12.959 --> 00:07:14.560
What do you think about that?
00:07:15.279 --> 00:07:20.800
I think what you just said is very uh scriptural.
00:07:20.959 --> 00:07:26.079
In Romans, in Romans 10 it talks about um let me find the verse.
00:07:26.319 --> 00:07:28.560
Romans 10, 13 through 15.
00:07:28.720 --> 00:07:33.680
It says, How can they believe in the one of whom they have not heard?
00:07:33.920 --> 00:07:37.040
And how can they hear without someone preaching it to them?
00:07:37.120 --> 00:07:38.160
That's what you just said, Donnie.
00:07:38.319 --> 00:07:40.879
We gotta open our mouths and we gotta talk about it.
00:07:41.040 --> 00:07:43.600
So I think it's it hits down on the head.
00:07:45.439 --> 00:07:46.720
Just kind of expand on that.
00:07:46.800 --> 00:07:49.920
All three of us are are are self-employed business people.
00:07:50.000 --> 00:07:54.879
Now, I I know that you two guys view your work as your mission field, right?
00:07:55.120 --> 00:07:56.319
We've talked about that before.
00:07:56.399 --> 00:07:58.079
We view our work as our mission field.
00:07:58.240 --> 00:08:20.959
And I think whether we're coaching a little league team or we're, you know, we're in a golf tournament, or whether we're in a you know, going fishing, or wherever we are, when we're engaging going out to eat lunch or going out to dinner or wherever we may be, whenever we're around people, it's an opportunity to be kind and to show that you know we're sincerely interested in people.
00:08:22.879 --> 00:08:24.160
What do y'all think about that?
00:08:24.319 --> 00:08:25.600
I think it's just that simple.
00:08:25.759 --> 00:08:27.439
I think we could all do that.
00:08:29.120 --> 00:08:41.279
Just those young just those young fellows um that you would go and and minister to today, some of them probably don't even get visitors.
00:08:43.120 --> 00:09:08.000
They're they're in there learning from their past and learning from the present and here you come in regularly, and today that might just be what gets them through that week is knowing that you're gonna be there that next Tuesday or whatever it is you got.
00:09:10.639 --> 00:09:15.679
We talked about two or three um sessions ago, Jesus being out in the wilderness.
00:09:15.840 --> 00:09:16.159
Yeah.
00:09:16.480 --> 00:09:17.519
Oh, that's a wilderness.
00:09:17.759 --> 00:09:18.559
Yeah, that right.
00:09:19.120 --> 00:09:21.759
There's a lot of wildernesses in this world.
00:09:22.399 --> 00:09:38.720
And uh so I mean how much of a wit how much of a w I don't think a lot of people realize how much of a witness it is and actually showing Jesus than just showing up to somebody.
00:09:38.879 --> 00:09:40.720
Like you said, a lot of people have nobody.
00:09:40.960 --> 00:09:42.000
Have nobody to show.
00:09:42.080 --> 00:09:44.639
And the fact that you show up one time is incredible.
00:09:44.799 --> 00:09:54.000
The fact that you show up another time, that just it incre it will increase their um their likelihood to believe, man, Jesus is real.
00:09:54.080 --> 00:09:58.399
This person is showing me Jesus just by showing up, and that's the love, showing them the love.
00:09:58.480 --> 00:10:00.879
I think it's a beautiful picture of who Jesus is.
00:10:01.120 --> 00:10:03.120
So I appreciate you sharing that, Donnie.
00:10:03.200 --> 00:10:06.320
I hope that more people will will take that to heart.
00:10:07.200 --> 00:10:18.320
And I think too, like Mark was saying, yeah, he was talking about the last episode so beautifully, how much it affected him, and he it was a blessing to him to be able to go and to experience this.
00:10:18.559 --> 00:10:26.720
You know, for me, it's been a great blessing to me to be able to uh to go and meet these kids and um you know in this detention center.
00:10:26.799 --> 00:10:30.720
It's helped me to see that hey, I I could very easily have been in there.
00:10:30.879 --> 00:10:36.879
I mean, if my if my life experience had been like these these boys, I could very easily have been in there.
00:10:36.960 --> 00:10:40.879
And I could tell that when I was with Ron in Kansas, and I can see it.
00:10:40.960 --> 00:10:48.559
And you know, I've gotten to be uh pretty good buddies with the chaplain over there, who's a super nice guy and very devoted Christian man.
00:10:48.799 --> 00:11:13.360
And you know, sometimes we don't get in a lot of detail, but you know, we'll talk a little bit about the background of the the home life and the things that these these these young men have experienced that led that they were in situations where you know crime and criminal activity and drugs and abuse and all that stuff was was a part of their life and they didn't ask for that.
00:11:13.519 --> 00:11:16.080
They didn't ask to be born into that situation.
00:11:16.159 --> 00:11:18.559
You know, they're just kids, they're children, right?
00:11:18.799 --> 00:11:32.480
And I think many times that's a that's a big deal for us as Christians is to understand that when we see somebody struggling or they're having a tough time and they may be acting out or misbehaving or doing something, we're like, man, what in the world?
00:11:32.559 --> 00:11:33.440
Why are they doing that?
00:11:33.600 --> 00:11:44.639
We have no idea what a what a person around us is dealing with, and and I think when we make an effort, particularly if we see somebody having a tough time, saying, Hey man, what's up?
00:11:44.879 --> 00:11:47.919
You know, you seem like are you okay?
00:11:48.000 --> 00:11:50.559
Or or young young lady, are you all right?
00:11:50.879 --> 00:11:51.679
How are you doing?
00:11:51.759 --> 00:11:54.639
Is it can I do do we tell me what's going on?
00:11:54.799 --> 00:12:07.440
You know, I think that we'll be surprised at how many times a young person or older person, people our age, need somebody to say, hey, I I'm interested in what's going on with you.
00:12:07.679 --> 00:12:08.000
Yeah.
00:12:08.240 --> 00:12:09.440
Tell me what's up.
00:12:09.759 --> 00:12:11.440
Can do you want to talk about it?
00:12:11.519 --> 00:12:22.639
I think just being able to talk about things is a huge ministry opportunity for us, and what a blessing when we get to help somebody like Mark on his mission trip.
00:12:22.799 --> 00:12:23.919
How do y'all feel about that?
00:12:24.000 --> 00:12:25.120
That's all around us.
00:12:25.360 --> 00:12:25.679
Absolutely.
00:12:26.080 --> 00:12:28.720
I mean, while we while we have the opportunity, right?
00:12:28.879 --> 00:12:30.480
While we're here on earth.
00:12:30.799 --> 00:12:31.120
Yeah.
00:12:31.440 --> 00:12:31.679
Absolutely.
00:12:32.399 --> 00:12:37.679
We're talking about this, why we are spreading the gospel.
00:12:37.919 --> 00:12:40.399
Mark 16, verse 15.
00:12:41.039 --> 00:12:46.399
Go into all the world and preach the gospel to all creation.
00:12:49.120 --> 00:12:51.360
Yes, the key word is preach, right?
00:12:51.600 --> 00:12:52.080
Or go.
00:12:52.720 --> 00:12:53.039
Go.
00:12:54.399 --> 00:12:55.600
We talked about that.
00:12:55.919 --> 00:12:58.399
I just I just I agree with you.
00:12:59.840 --> 00:13:02.879
Acknowledging because everybody's got a story, right?
00:13:03.279 --> 00:13:03.600
Amen.
00:13:04.639 --> 00:13:05.679
Everybody's got a story.
00:13:06.000 --> 00:13:06.159
Amen.
00:13:06.960 --> 00:13:09.600
Donna, thank you for for sharing that.
00:13:09.919 --> 00:13:10.480
Appreciate that.
00:13:10.879 --> 00:13:16.159
Happy to do it, and I hope to we can be blessed by being a blessing to others.
00:13:16.320 --> 00:13:19.279
That's for sure.
00:13:19.919 --> 00:13:20.480
God wants.
00:13:20.799 --> 00:13:21.840
That's right, exactly.
00:13:22.080 --> 00:13:28.320
So these last couple episodes, uh, if you're listening to me, um they were about missions.
00:13:28.480 --> 00:13:36.799
But our goal here was to fill you in on a little bit of information about missions abroad, missions locally, just missions that we should be on.
00:13:36.960 --> 00:13:46.159
A mission to tell people about Jesus, to just go, to open our mouths, and to just love on people and show them the love of Jesus and tell them about Jesus.
00:13:46.240 --> 00:13:51.039
So I want to end really quickly with three questions, actually, four questions.
00:13:51.200 --> 00:13:58.960
The first one is who is one person that God has already placed around you who needs to experience the love of Jesus?
00:13:59.120 --> 00:14:00.320
That can be showing up.
00:14:00.559 --> 00:14:06.960
And the second question is, how are you participating in trying to reach them in a mission to reach them?
00:14:07.200 --> 00:14:09.919
Are you willing to pray, God send me?
00:14:10.320 --> 00:14:17.360
And then are you willing to go, to go talk to them, to share with them, to experience the love of Jesus?
00:14:17.519 --> 00:14:19.120
So thank you so much for listening today.
00:14:19.360 --> 00:14:21.519
Donnie, would you close us in prayer?
00:14:22.159 --> 00:14:33.519
Dear Lord, we just want to thank you today for the opportunity that you give us to be a part of your team, to go out and to share the gospel in ways big and small, Lord.
00:14:33.679 --> 00:14:38.960
We may travel on a mission trip or we may just engage somebody that we pass in our daily walk.
00:14:39.120 --> 00:14:48.240
And Lord, help us to take advantage of those opportunities to receive the blessing of being able to share your love with others.
00:14:48.320 --> 00:14:57.039
And I pray that you're gonna open doors and open our eyes to see those opportunities for not just us, but for all who are listening.
00:14:57.200 --> 00:14:59.039
We ask these things in Jesus' name.
00:14:59.200 --> 00:14:59.759
Amen.
00:15:00.000 --> 00:15:00.639
Amen.
00:15:05.679 --> 00:15:11.759
