Invocation
*Hymn 31 *_Hark! The Herald Angels Sing _MENDELSSOHN
*Affirmation of Faith *
We believe in God, the creator and giver of life, who brought all creation to birth, who mothers us and fathers us, protecting, nurturing, and cherishing us.
We believe in Jesus Christ: God born among us as a fragile baby, embodying both love and the need for love, and calling us to rest in God as trustingly as a tiny child.
We believe in the Holy Spirit, breathed into us at our birth,
always drawing us on to be born again, encouraging, exhorting, comforting, nourishing our growth and inspiring our living.
And we believe that each new child is a glimpse of the face of God, a sign of the life to come, and a call to live in peace and celebrate living together.
Glory to God in the highest, and peace to God's people on earth!
(The text is by Nathan Nettleton and Kathy Galloway)

First Lesson Isaiah 63:7-9
Second Lesson Psalm 148
*Anthem * _Infant Holy, Infant Lowly _ Polish carol
Infant holy, infant lowly, for his bed a cattle stall;
Oxen lowing, little knowing Christ the babe is Lord of all.
Swift are winging angels singing, noels ringing, tidings bringing:
Christ the babe is Lord of all.
Flocks were sleeping; shepherds keeping vigil till the morning new
Saw the glory, heard the story, tidings of a gospel true.
Thus rejoicing, free from sorrow, praises voicing greet the morrow:
Christ the babe was born for you.
(The text was translated by Edith M. G. Reed)

Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our sins, as we forgive those who sin against us; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil; for thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory, forever and ever.
