Having worked in sustainability and public service her entire career, Cecilia Kemp gives us and idea of how to get our councils to act on climate change

Summary The conversation focuses on the significant impact of land use on community emissions in Australia, emphasizing the importance of sustainable land management practices. Cecilia Kemp discusses how regenerative agriculture can help reduce emissions and sequester carbon, particularly in a resource-constrained environment like Australia, where soil health and water scarcity are critical issues.

Takeaways - Community emissions are significantly influenced by land use.- Regenerative agriculture practices can help sequester emissions.- The largest landholders have a crucial role in emissions reduction.- Soil management practices need to focus on nutrient retention.- Water scarcity in Australia necessitates sustainable agricultural practices.- Adopting rotation in farming can improve soil health.- Land management practices must evolve to combat climate change.- Sustainable practices are essential for the future of agriculture.- Emissions reduction is a collective responsibility of landholders.- Effective land use can lead to a healthier environment.- Councils will do what their communities ask them to
