TIETOJA TÄSTÄ JAKSOSTA
In today’s show James sits down with the fierce, genre‑bending trio behind Beautiful Skeleton—vocalist Tina Firefly, guitarist Gnar, and drummer Huey. After a two‑year hiatus, the band returns with their debut full‑length, “Post‑Line Scar,” a record that marks a dramatic leap from the gritty EPs and demos of their early days to a polished, hook‑laden monster crafted with legendary producer Ulrich (the mind behind Deftones, Static X and countless ’90s‑early‑2000s metal classics).
The conversation roams from the gritty realities of touring (the endless hunt for coffee, showers and decent toilets) to the challenges of being a female‑fronted metal act in a scene that still under‑represents women. Tina reflects on how her teenage self would view the confident, seasoned vocalist she is now, while Huey admits his teenage “metal‑kid” dreams have finally become a lived reality.
Listeners will hear insider anecdotes about:
- The serendipitous meeting with Ulrich at the Whiskey and the 30‑day, L.A.‑based recording marathon.
- The shift from analog “garage” recordings to a crisp, professional sound that still honors the band’s raw energy.
- The emotional core of the album—empathy and forgiveness weaving through every track, from the heartbreaking “Bitter End” to the unapologetically angry yet “nice” anthem “Only Zool.”
- A quick‑fire lightning round that reveals each member’s pre‑show rituals, preferred crowd size, and even who would survive a zombie apocalypse longest.
If you’ve ever felt the sting of depression, the allure of heavy music, or simply love a good behind‑the‑scenes music story, this episode is your ticket to the next chapter of Beautiful Skeleton’s evolution. Grab a cup of coffee (or a portable toilet, if you’re on the road), hit play, and let the conversation prove once again that when words fail, music—and the stories that shape it—speak louder than anything.
