Did you know Fruit of the Loom has never had a cornucopia in its logo, not once since 1893 even though more than half of Americans swear they remember it? ...We looked into it. And we're still not over it. 🍎
Welcome to Valid Source? The podcast where we investigate the internet myths, viral claims, and trending gossip you've been thinking about but haven't had time to research. We're not experts. We're just two friends willing to do the extra digging.
This episode: Harley rides a mechanical bull at a high school graduation and a proud lettuce-mom update, and then we both get thoroughly humbled by the Mandela Effect. We go looking for the Sinbad genie movie that apparently never existed (Ashley has a skit theory, and honestly it's the best we've got), then hit the Fruit of the Loom cornucopia, where we discover we share the exact same fake laundry memory, because of course we do and flatly refuse to accept that Jiffy peanut butter was never real.
We have to Google the Monopoly man, Mr. Peanut, and the Pringles guy live on air because it turns out neither of us can remember anyone's face, and Darth Vader apparently never said "Luke." Then it gets weirder: some of it isn't false memory at all companies really have quietly edited things, from Lilo & Stitch's dryer scene to Alicia Keys' Super Bowl voice crack. We're not saying it's a simulation. We're just saying we can no longer rule it out.
Valid Source? verdict on the Mandela Effect: we fact-checked our own memories, our memories lost, and the cornucopia is still real to us.
