The Podcast: The Outdated Wrestling Hour With Bob Smith podcast – now in its fourth year – offers veteran fans (as well as curious younger ones) a chance to reminisce about classic mat action from years gone by. The show is hosted by Smith, the former managing editor of Pro Wrestling Illustrated magazine who also enjoyed a long history with other famous mat titles. Co-host Joe Puccio (GenerationXWire.com) offers a younger perspective on old wrestling before the duo ushers in guests from throughout the professional mat landscape.
The Topic: It’s a special double-sized episode of The Outdated Wrestling Hour - featuring a truly special guest. Bob Smith traveled to Gleason’s Gym in New York City to conduct a wide-ranging interview with triple Hall of Fame wrestling legend Johnny Rodz – a star who won the famed Los Angeles battle royal as Java Ruuk, and also competed against virtually every wrestling star imaginable in the WWWF for the better part of three decades. Rodz has been a lauded grappler, a world traveler, and a remarkable wrestling trainer, and we were able to sit down with him as he talked about every facet of his career. The Outdated Wrestling Hour is proud to present this timeless wrestling immortal to wrestling fans who thrilled to his matches in the 1960s through the 1980s!
