TIETOJA TÄSTÄ JAKSOSTA
Matty Mullins of Memphis May Fire and Anberlin joins host Hollie Nicole at Inkcarceration Festival for an energetic conversation about Shapeshifter, two decades of musical evolution, unpredictable festival conditions, and what comes next for the metalcore band.
As smoke disrupts the Inkcarceration schedule, Matty discusses preparing to perform in difficult air quality and recalls using oxygen tanks during shows in Denver. He also shares his experience touring the Ohio State Reformatory and whether he would return to explore the famously spooky prison again.
Matty then reflects on the success of Shapeshifter and why Memphis May Fire’s two most recent records have become the biggest of their 20-year career. He explains the band’s refusal to write music for radio programmers, record labels, or anyone other than themselves, trusting that emotionally honest songs will connect with listeners.
The interview also explores Memphis May Fire’s multigenerational fan base, meeting children named after the band, upcoming South America dates, and plans to begin creating the next record after the current touring cycle.
Plus, Matty delivers a genuine Teaser Talk exclusive by revealing that his other band, Anberlin, has completed a new album planned for release in November. Press play for metalcore, touring stories, haunted prison history, new music news, and one reveal Matty may not have been ready to announce!
