TIETOJA TÄSTÄ JAKSOSTA

Ogre

Before Ogre plays a note, their amplifiers hiss like digital snakes waiting to strike. Ogre is Ace (bass), Grace (bass), and Nils (drums). We could tell you that Ogre uses two basses, three vocal mics, a synthesizer, a few duffel bags worth of guitar pedals, and a drum kit, but that would do their aural onslaught a disservice. Ogre is more than the sum of their decimated parts. Ogre is waiting to strike.

Recorded October 16th, 2023 at dB Nation studios in SE Portland, we talk about the group’s incidents, influences, iterations, and incantations.

I Heard Your Laugh From Outside and Thought It was a Small, Wounded Dog

I Heard Your Laugh from Outside and Thought It Was a Small, Wounded Dog—yes, that's their name—is a self-described 'shitty' screamo Portland-based group that has embraced canonical screamo tropes and updated them with exuberant spirit, influenced by hardcore, shoegaze, and midwest emo. Kicking off …

The Macks (KPH x PRP: Stumpgrown Summer Sessions)

The Macks are relentless, prolific, well-practiced, and somehow still a joy to talk to. Their sound combines earworm rock riffs with bluesy melodies and speculative tones that make you do a double take. The result is music that manages to feel entirely new and classic in the same breath. On this Su…
