speaker-1: What's going on here? I don't really know. So I guess I gotta keep the people entertain.
speaker-0: Dude, they get to have some product placement now.
speaker-1: Yeah I did. Hey, have you seen that video of that crazy woman screaming about the turn signal?
speaker-0: The crazy woman screaming about a turn signal? No, I don't think so.
speaker-1: They like remixed it into like a bunch of Lincoln Park songs. She's like, He didn't use his turn signal. She was like screaming at another cop to pull over another cop 'cause they didn't pull use his turn signal. You didn't see that?
speaker-0: No, dude, I don't remember seeing that at all. That's crazy.
speaker-1: Dude, I saw it like maybe a year ago. And you know how me, my wife, my son, we we always watch like the body cam videos. Yeah.
speaker-0: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
speaker-1: Well, we were watching one, and I'm like, and this bitch is going crazy. And I was like, why does she sound and look so familiar? And it made me think of the turn signal video. And I was like, it can't be. So I went back and watched the turn signal video. It was the same.
speaker-0: That's wild, dude. So she's just out and about doing other dumb shit on the internet. Dude.
speaker-1: She's like twenty-one. She's calling the cops like R words, the F words. Nice. dude, she is just a loose fucking canon. And it's hilarious. Like if you just just go look up like turn signal lady and then it'll bring you to the other video. And it's actually insane.
speaker-0: That sounds pretty fun.
speaker-1: Like I I feel like I struggle with mental illness, but d dog.
speaker-0: This
speaker-1: Fuck. Insane.
speaker-0: That's tough, dude. That's really tough.
speaker-1: Go watch the videos.
speaker-0: All right, I'll check it out. Speaking of mental illness, dude, we lost a real one this week, man. That sucks.
speaker-1: Speaking of what?
speaker-0: Said mental illness, we lost a real one this week, dude.
speaker-1: My God, I was so sad. RJ Middy.
speaker-0: That's a bummer.
speaker-1: I'm a huge Breaking Bad fan and when I saw that I didn't believe it. But then I saw like Brian Cranston and Aaron Paul like make little tribute posts. I'm like, holy shit. And like the day before or two days before he he died, he made like a post talking about like mental health and it's so sad.
speaker-0: Yeah, dude, that sucks.
speaker-1: He was like a big advocate for like cerebral palsy and like the acting and in Hollywood industry.
speaker-0: Yeah, yeah, he had like a a whole like a whole non profit and stuff like that, was an advocate for disabilities and everything and very, very cool, very sad to see, you know. That that sucks. So if you guys are struggling with mental health, reach out to somebody and Colby and I's DMs are always open. So
speaker-1: I s I struggle just as bad, so we can we can talk about how bad our mental health is together.
speaker-0: Yeah, yeah, we can we can relate on some levels for sure. Well now that we're having fun talking about good vibes.
speaker-1: You know what helped me at probably like the lowest point of my life?
speaker-0: What's that?
speaker-1: Oliver Tree.
speaker-0: Oliver Tree ribs, dude. RIP to him too, man.
speaker-1: Because like I've listened I've listened to his music for a while and I really liked his music, but I didn't know who he was. Yeah. Like I didn't know, I couldn't, I didn't even know the artist's name just whenever the song came out, and I was like, this song fucking rules. Yeah. And then one day I was watching a YouTube video with this fucking goofy ass dude with a mullet and a mustache. I'm like, this guy's fucking hilarious. Who's this guy? Yeah. And then I found out it's Oliver Tree who makes the music. I'm like, fuck. And then I like became like not an unhealthy obsession, but like Something I like attached myself to, like his his brand, his style. His brand. His
speaker-0: Yeah, I was gonna say you're not gonna
speaker-1: style. And then dude, like just his music. Like obviously I love metal. Metal makes me it puts me in a better spot with like the angry, aggressive lyrics. It just makes me feel better. But like I'm not like big into pop and like house music and stuff, but something about Oliver Tree's music, it just it put me in like a happy spot.
speaker-0: got in the vibes, yeah. Yeah, I like Oliver Tree's music too. I like there's like so many songs that he has that are like really like he went viral a lot on like TikTok and shit. And so that's where I found a lot of his music and I never knew who he was and then you and I talked about him like I don't know a year ago or whatever and I was like, that's who that is? Yeah.
speaker-1: Yeah, right.
speaker-0: Yeah. That's dope. Yeah, no. R. I p to that real one as well.
speaker-1: Fuck it.
speaker-0: Well, anyways, everybody, welcome back to another episode of Fucking Splatter Pals. It's your boy Rob Nelson of Rob Nelson Horror. With me as always is Colby of Colby Does Horror. The man, the myth, the legend, the sexy dude with the throw tat. Man, what's good, dude? How you living, Colby?
speaker-1: I'm feeling good. I'm happy to not be eating fucking maggots and ants today, even though I do have a meeting with Shane tomorrow.
speaker-0: Dude, I miss the maggots and the ants. Bring back. Just do that every episode. Fuck that. Shane, we love you.
speaker-1: I've been terrible at reading these past two weeks. Like I'm pretty far through Gone to Seen the River Man and then I am probably halfway through where's my let's go I would have just cleaned my office, so
speaker-0: God damn it, Coda.
speaker-1: I'm halfway through Monsters Don't Cry on Kindle and then on physical book I'm reading. Broken records.
speaker-0: Whoo Thought you were gonna say broke back mountain for a minute there.
speaker-1: No. But yeah, those those are my reads and listens right now. But I have been being good at I've been real good about watching movies, watching shows. Not
speaker-0: Are.
speaker-1: the best at like putting videos out again. I'm trying to get least one out a day, but you know, life for sure.
speaker-0: Felt, seen, heard. Yeah, I I've been pretty slow on the uptick with the the physical reads personally. the last one I finished was Shane McKenzie's All You Can Eat, which is a fucking banger, ladies and gentlemen. If you didn't tune into our last episode with Shane McKenzie, dude rips and all you can eat is certified fresh on Rob's Tomatoes. But I'm currently listening to music to sacrifice virgins to, which is one of the most insane things I've ever read in my life.
speaker-1: Both listening to Christopher Triana books.
speaker-0: We are. Yeah. Yep. And they're both bangers, dude. I still think On to See the River Man's my favorite Triana book, but like music to sacrifice virgins to, for those of you looking for something crazy fucked and depraved, like this is it. It made it made Night Stalkers feel like PG thirteen.
speaker-1: Jesus
speaker-0: It's ins dude, it's so dark and like just fucked up. Like I don't know how else to describe it. Like you just like you hate the main character, but like the writing's so good where you're almost rooting for and it's it's pretty fucked, dude. You're like, you kinda wanna see how much worse it can get, but you hope it doesn't get worse at the same time. But it's gone so far that you're like, All right, we're on the other end of the shit now. We're all going to hell. But yeah, no, so that's that's my listen. physical reads, I gotta fucking Grab something. I got a stack. I don't know if you can see down there next to the arm of the couch where Dublin has fucking destroyed it. I got some books down there that I just gotta pick something out. So nothing physical right now. I will say though, I've been pretty good the last like three or four days about getting new ideas into my notes. So I had like two book ideas that I was kinda like feeling out. And now I've got I think six, six or eight, like to I don't know, the past few days, just fucking ideas are ripping. then I started playing fucking Hellraiser last night, which dog.
speaker-1: Opening scene in that game is insane.
speaker-0: It's nuts, dude.
speaker-1: Did you have to get did you get to the part yet where you have to get that girl, the giant dildo?
speaker-0: No. okay.
speaker-1: We'll get there soon.
speaker-0: I was getting like legit nauseous, like 'cause the movement's so fluid in it and everything where I was like I've not played a game this smooth before and it's like fucking with my equilibrium.
speaker-1: Dude, the the boss fights are hard. It's like some Elden Ring shit. Okay. Pisses me off. I'm stuck on one right now.
speaker-0: Right on. Okay. Yeah, I literally I got like through the part where you have to run away from Mr. Bucking Clicky Teeth.
speaker-1: Chatterer, there's like there's like five more chases and they're all just in just as intense.
speaker-0: Yeah, dude, it's your clicky teeth? Yeah. Sorry. But yeah, that that rips. So that actually gave me some ideas. Well, it gave me one idea that I think is pretty fun. I'll tell you about it off off of
speaker-1: Air. I've been I've been pretty good at writing lately.
speaker-0: Juggalo Colby writing some ideas down, dude.
speaker-1: A published Colby Duds horror book probably coming next year.
speaker-0: Dude, that rips. I'm so excited. Yeah. When you when you called me to tell me about it, I was like, all right, dude, that's you.
speaker-1: The reason I thought of it and everything. It was just so perfect.
speaker-0: Yeah. That's how it goes, dude. Like it just fucking shows up. The universe goes, Here's a story, and you go, All right, cool, I should write that.
speaker-1: Mm-hmm. I'm excited. And my friend Stuart Bray will be editing it, so
speaker-0: Let's go. Fuck yeah, man. Well, yeah. I don't know. I've had a weird week, dude. I don't know.
speaker-1: Yeah, we fucking show me your tips. Fucking released. How'd that go?
speaker-0: That was an interesting one. Yeah. So my book, Show Me Your Tips, that bad shit. That one came out on Friday and immediately something was wrong. And I would go on Amazon and search it and like thankfully like a lot of people were posting about it. And so people were going to Amazon, finding my profile, and then going and finding the book. But I was in a battle with like Kindle Direct Publishing reps and shit like that. And turns out, like when I uploaded the book, I didn't get an email or a notification or anything that it got flagged for sexual content because of the cover. and so I would search it on Amazon and just no results. Like I can fucking drop a screenshot in here right now. It would just say no results found. for Show Me Your Tips by Rob Nelson. And the like full title is Show Me Your Tips, a Just the Tip story, because it is a sequel to Just the Tip. so I was like, okay, maybe I have to type that whole thing in. And then I was like going and looking at the keywords that I set up and everything, talking to the reps. And dude, the first rep I talked to was like, I don't know what the big deal is. Like I'm able to find it with these search settings. So give that a shot. So I did the exact same thing. No results found. and I was like, Hey, like I'm not seeing anything. They're like, Well, it's probably the algorithm. Like, if it sells more copies, it'll climb higher on the charts, which like the algorithm will will help out with. And so I went and looked and it was fucking forty fourth in United or US horror best sellers. So I was like, it's in the top one hundred for the entire category. And like that's a pretty broad category. There's a lot of books on that one. and made a monster and just the chip show up right at the top of every search. So I was like, it's not that. yeah, it turns out they they shadow like blocked it for sexual content. Which they reached out actually was it yesterday? It was yesterday. and basically said, Hey, our bad. Must have been AI looking at shit and just flagging it, not a real human fucking going through and whatever, but yeah.
speaker-1: That was stupid, dude. I I I did my favorite photo shoot I've ever done to promote this book for release day.
speaker-0: Dude, it's the sickest photo shoot ever, bro.
speaker-1: Dude, the funny story too, like if you've seen it, you already know. Like I literally had my pants and underwear off. My dick was touching. Show me your tip.
speaker-0: Dude, I thought you fucking pulled him up to your hips.
speaker-1: No, I was butt ass naked, just shirt.
speaker-0: Tough dude. Let's go.
speaker-1: But I was talking to my wife, I was like, I have to think of something funny to do for this photo shoot to like promote this book. And she's like, I can't think of anything. Blah, blah, blah. And then she had to like go go to the store for something. So like right when she left, she wasn't even on the road for like five minutes, and I signed her the pictures and she called me. She's like, That's fucking hilarious. And I I like I took the one with it covering my dick to be funny, just to see her be like, You better not fucking post that. She was like, That's hilarious. I was like, you really want me to post that? She's like, Yeah, it's funny as fuck. I was like, Okay.
speaker-0: That rules, dude.
speaker-1: Well, what's funny too, 'cause I was gonna take it 'cause I have a cheetah print speedo and I was gonna take it in that, but I forgot. My my wife was like doing like crazy cleaning the other week and she's like, Do you even wanna fucking wear this over again? And I was like, Probably not. And then of course the next week
speaker-0: No. Damn. That is sick, dude. That's so fucking.
speaker-1: But I think the other one I took was funnier anyway.
speaker-0: Dude, it's so good. It's one of my favorite photos that you've ever taken. Sexy ass Colby just t-shirt. Show me your tips. I love that you were butt ass underneath.
speaker-1: A hundred percent.
speaker-0: Take out for no reason.
speaker-1: No reason at all.
speaker-0: that fucking
speaker-1: for the love of the game.
speaker-0: dude, in it to win it, baby. That fucking rips. Yeah, man. no, the I mean the release flopped a little bit, unfortunately. The last time I checked, I think it was in the top forty US or something like that. So it's still doing pretty good.
speaker-1: Yeah, I mean top one hundred's still something to be proud of.
speaker-0: Yeah, I like for what it is, I'm stoked and like I'm really thankful that I do have readers that are like reviewing it and posting about it and talking about it and stuff. So for everybody out there reading, show me your tips. Thank you very much. I appreciate you from the bottom of my heart. It was funny though, like on Monday when it was still shadow banned, it was at like, I don't know, 200 pages read on Kindle or whatever. And then like that night it was at like 2500. I was like, all right, yeah, the moment it gets fucking unblocked, it like started to, you know, go again. So that's cool. So I'm I'm still happy about it. It is what it is. I'll fucking I don't I didn't think the cover was like too sexy or anything. Like
speaker-1: Love the cover.
speaker-0: Yeah. It's like just a cartoon. Well, there's
speaker-1: Dude, I've seen I've seen more vulgar anime.
speaker-0: That's what I'm saying. Yeah. Can you buy crossed comics on Amazon?
speaker-1: Yes.
speaker-0: Well speaking of cross.
speaker-1: Dude, that trailer.
speaker-0: It looks insane.
speaker-1: and the director of sadness, the sadness is doing it? Yeah. It's gonna
speaker-0: Yeah, yeah, dude. I'm
speaker-1: it's gonna make the sadness look kind of soft and I'm kinda sad.
speaker-0: You are the sadness over the sadness. Dude, I don't like, do you think it's gonna get a theatrical release?
speaker-1: There's I don't it depends. the only company I know that like pushes out like big theatrical unrated releases is Cinniverse.
speaker-0: Mm-hmm.
speaker-1: So I don't know.
speaker-0: For sure.
speaker-1: Like Ice Cream Man, they're part of the horror section, which also does theatrical wide releases on unrated movies. But I don't know. I'm regardless, I don't give a fuck. I just
speaker-0: Yeah, no, like I I'm gonna check it out. It's whatever wherever it's available, I just like I I think it would be very cool to see like the sadness in a movie theater. You know what I mean? So like being able to see a movie like Cross, like and I know, dude, there's so many people out there right now, like it got a lot of negative press, like immediately by people being like, This should never be a fucking movie, like blah blah blah blah blah. Like, I get it. It's definitely not for everybody, but you know, for those of us that want to see something fucking balls to the wall insane, like It's fine, guys. It's gonna be sick.
speaker-1: Speaking of of the set the sadness, my brother in law texted me today. He's like, Hey, I got a big projector to watch some like horror movies outside on Halloween. I was like, dope. What what's on the what's on the schedule? He's like, Well, that's why I'm fucking texting you. What should we put on?
speaker-0: Ha ha.
speaker-1: I was like, say less. He's like I was like, How many movies? He's like, I need four and at least two of them need to be kid movies because they're having like a Halloween party like kids are gonna be there for the first half. So instantly I was like paranormal. That's like my favorite kids movie. And then Camden was next to me. He's like Edward says Rayans. I was like, hell yeah.
speaker-0: Decent. Yeah.
speaker-1: And then I looked at Coda, I was like, the sadness? was like yes but no. She's like, do like Hell House LLC or something. Hell House LC. I I I put a movie on there that I have a screener for that's not out yet. So I was like, well we'll do this. We'll show some people something that's not out yet. So we're doing that.
speaker-0: All right.
speaker-1: my favorite Halloween movie is Dark Harvest.
speaker-0: Mm, okay.
speaker-1: I don't want to be too basic and pick trick or treat, but Dark Harvest goes hard as f have you seen that yet? Twenty twenty three, twenty twenty four.
speaker-0: I don't think I've seen Dark Harvest. I'm thinking of Strange Harvest.
speaker-1: You need to watch Dark Harvest immediately. It's my favorite Halloween movie.
speaker-0: Dark harvest, okay. shit. Yeah, this looks pretty sick.
speaker-1: Dude fucking rips. It's so gory.
speaker-0: Okay,
speaker-1: And just the story is fantastic. And it's based off of a book. I haven't read the book. I heard it's very different, but I've heard the movie is better.
speaker-0: Okay. Which is that's interesting. Yeah. Okay. Yeah. I got it fucking queued up. Dark Harvest. I'll watch it. I've been looking for like 'cause like I watch horror movies every Halloween. Like I don't know. I I try getting into the fucking horror movie watching thing like all year round. And I do. I I still watch movies, but like usually I just watch new releases in theaters. Like I don't really watch a lot of movies at home, to be honest with you. I'm either writing or like playing video games or packing orders or just doing something. or I'm fucking flying to Chicago to hang out with your dumbass. gang gang, which is when I'll watch some fucking wild shit.
speaker-1: Dude, what's funny for me, like around Halloween time, I that's probably when I watch like the least amount of horror movies. I like to watch like kids' movies that bring me the nostalgia of Halloween. Yeah. Like today we watch Nightmare Before Christmas, Halloween Town, Halloween,
speaker-0: Let me tell rips.
speaker-1: Paranorman. I I like the kid ones that bring me back to like my childhood. Like what's it called? Don't Look Under the Bed or some shit. It's about like the boogeyman on Disney.
speaker-0: Yeah, from Disney. That movie.
speaker-1: Twenty four seven. Like your Disney plus up twenty-four-seven during Halloween time.
speaker-0: I always liked Hotel Transylvania. That was a fun one.
speaker-1: Bang.
speaker-0: What's another one? Coraline, Monster House. yeah, there's there's a lot of fun ones. Dude, I feel like people that are younger than us really missed out on like legit as fuck Halloweens. yeah. You know what I mean? Like just hitting the town with the squad as like, I don't know, probably ranging from like I'd say ten is when our parents, like my parents at least, were like, Fuck it, go do whatever Yeah.
speaker-1: And I lived in a really small town, so we could hit like every fucking house in that town. Yeah retreating.
speaker-0: We would get dropped off. Yeah, we would get dropped off in like neighborhoods that were like not huge, but like pretty good size. And it was just like, All right, like don't go down the streets that don't have any lights and fucking, you know.
speaker-1: And then once it got like dark, that's when you start fucking with like people's pumpkins and shit.
speaker-0: Shit and doing that shit. I I never did any of the fucking with pumpkins, I'll be honest, but
speaker-1: We did a lot of hood rat shit with my friends.
speaker-0: We did some we did some TPing. I did do that. and then like scaring the fuck out of other people like hiding in bushes and they're walking that scream at them and shit like that, dude. It was so fun. And it's like it reminds me like like kind of what you're saying, the nostalgia. Like, dude, watching like Halloween from like the eighties and like just that feel, that vibe of like just you're just out and it's fall and it's a little crisp.
speaker-1: It's amazing. And like we we'll take the kids out for like an hour because they're still younger. They get tired like pretty early. So I'll I'll leave a bowl of candy on the fucking porch. And I've never I still haven't came back to it fucking completely emptied, but I still leave like extra candy inside just in case. I don't give a fuck. I did the same shit. But then we we come home, we open the garage up, we sit in the garage, we see we we have a little portable fire pit. We threw we put that on the driveway. put throw put a startifire, I put like the tunes on the speaker in the garage and I do like horror movie scores, make it kinda spooky. Yeah.
speaker-0: Yeah.
speaker-1: Chill and vibe in the garage.
speaker-0: We're doing that at my boss's house this year. I'm pretty stoked. Like he invited the office over. We have a small office out here. So like he's just like everybody wants to come, like we're gonna get pizza, we're gonna have a fire pit, we'll have music, we'll have just a couple of ice chests full of beers, like pull up, we'll have fun. like he lives in like a little like like a little community or whatever. So like it's guaranteed to be popping with people. So like it'll be a good time. Like I'm definitely excited about that.
speaker-1: Love that.
speaker-0: Yeah, that'll be fun. But dude, I miss I miss Halloween when I was like, dude, thirteen, fourteen years old. Ooh.
speaker-1: Dude, Coda and I we found a sitter, so we're going to a Halloween party Saturday. And this whole week we've just been trying to decide like costumes and like do we want to be something funny, do we want to be something scary? Do we want to be something cute? I can't say. I'll say what it is when we're done recording, because I want it to be a surprise and post pictures and stuff 'cause a really fucking funny idea. Yeah. But we were set on doing The scary movie Ghostface and she was gonna be the Carmen Electra. Hell yeah. I was gonna my friend makes like the special effects stuff and I was like, Hey, can you make me a fucking like fake knife with a silicone tit on it? And she lives like three hours away. She's like, I don't wanna come out all the way to the bed, I'll just tell you how to fucking do it. It's easy as fuck.
speaker-0: Yeah.
speaker-1: So I was like about to order like all the supplies for that, and then Coda had like a really good idea for something else. So I'm like, ooh. Yeah, fuck that. Let's do that.
speaker-0: Fuck yeah, dude. I'm excited. I I can't wait to find out what it is. It's fine. I don't I don't have a costume yet. I was like w my one of like the one costume that I want to do really bad is fucking Waterboy. 'Cause I wanna get like a backpack and fill it with like Tito's and fucking lemonade or something.
speaker-1: I twelch two old.
speaker-0: Exactly, dude, and just rip it for people. I think that'd be fucking fun.
speaker-1: You be Bobby Boucher, I'll be Vicky Vale in court.
speaker-0: Dude, will you please be my Vicky? but yeah, no, we're I I gotta figure out something. I'll probably do something family friendly, just silly for the the thing at my boss's place. But then after that, there's a couple of events here in Phoenix. There's Boo, Halloween, and Hex. Boo is like a rave. Like I know you're not into like the EDM type shit. And then Hex is like the hardcore like EDM stuff. So it's more like like Hard style EDM and shit, so it's like scarier, which might be fun. but Friday night wage war is playing. So I'm gonna go
speaker-1: Tonight fucking Signs of the Swarm was playing tonight, like an hour away from me.
speaker-0: I know those fuckers. Do you do you see the tour that they announced? They just announced like a it's like a two or three month long tour. Fucking they're going everywhere. You might be able to catch them next week. Like they're all over the place.
speaker-1: Say less.
speaker-0: Yeah. I'm seeing well, I'm bummed that you're not gonna be here on Friday, but I'm seeing them Friday night. And then Saturday, I'm gonna see Hollywood Undead and Vanna, which I'm so stoked for. and then Wage War, obviously, on the thirtieth. And then I got I got nickelback tickets for Rally, North Carolina.
speaker-1: How far is North Carolina from you?
speaker-0: Fucking farther than you are funny.
speaker-1: Flying to North Carolina just to go to see Nickelback.
speaker-0: Yeah, two of my friends from high school, Nadia and Kaylyn, like we've been trying to set up a hangout for so long. Like they're two of my best friends. Kaylin's husband's the one who does like my cover art and shit. So Kaylin and her husband Tony are gonna be there, and then Nadia's coming, and then I think her husband's gonna go, but he's not a Nickelback fan, so we might just kick like kick it with us while we're out there. But I was like, guys, I haven't seen you in fucking five or eight years or whatever we like we're texting all the time, like, let's fucking set something up. Nickelback's coming to town.
speaker-1: Bro, hit up Buckner while you're out there.
speaker-0: Yo Buckies, yes. That'll be sick. Yeah. Dude, he's probably pulling up the nickel back, you think?
speaker-1: I was probably punching windows right now.
speaker-0: Nick was telling me he's trying to get him to finish reading Made a Monster. I like, dude, we're gonna traumatize him.
speaker-1: He's probably punching windows or texting me to play Fortnite.
speaker-0: When's the last time you played Fortnite?
speaker-1: I played last week with Sierra Buckner, my sister. I like Fort Nightmares, but not enough to play.
speaker-0: Every minute of my goddamn day. For sure. Yeah. I like I'll play with my boss sometimes and I'll throw down like three or four games, be like, all right, I gotta do something else.
speaker-1: Dude, the Fort Nightmares this year's
speaker-0: Kinda ass. I heard that they were gonna bring obsession characters into it. I'm waiting to see.
speaker-1: I I I did hear I I I hear Nikki's coming. we got we got Robert England's Freddy Krueger, which I caught that right away. they have the whole five nights at Freddy's like animatronics that I wanna get. But it just I don't know. I'm just not really into it.
speaker-0: I've been ripping the ash from last year's Fortnite mares.
speaker-1: That's usually what I use.
speaker-0: Yeah. Yeah. I don't know. It's it's fun. Like now that I'm actually like getting better at Fortnite, I have a good time. Like when I first started playing with you guys and I was dog shit, dude, it was mi I got so fucking pissed off because I was used to Warzone. And I'm like d like I'm trying to get sweaty as balls right now. And like I
speaker-1: Remember when you roll up remember when we rolled up to the horror house and you just dropped the dub real quick on Twitch?
speaker-0: Dude, I dropped the dub on Twitch on the fucking shotgun mode or whatever. I had like twenty-two kills. I couldn't fucking see straight, dude. I was up for twenty-three hours when I did that.
speaker-1: And then we sat in traffic at the airport for two hours.
speaker-0: Dude. We have the coolest adventures together, Colby. They are funny. They are funny. They fucking dude, they piss us both off, but they're funny. They're fond of look back. Remember the guy? Yeah, dude. I I looked right at him and did that too.
speaker-1: You're like, don't look out the window.
speaker-0: Dude, he was he was fully locked in and completely unlocked at the
speaker-1: It was a hundred and sixteen years old.
speaker-0: Dude, yeah, bare minimum. Could've been a hundred twenty five. He could have been a world record holder. Dude, just traffic. Good podcasting. He just had his mouth hanging wide open like he had a broken draw, dude. Just hang.
speaker-1: Hang it.
speaker-0: It was crazy. Slack drawing.
speaker-1: Look at the dude the views on our fucking videos are insane lately.
speaker-0: Yeah, they're pretty good, dude. The po the the the YouTube pops. I love it. I haven't actually looked I'm so good at managing a podcast, I haven't even looked at our views. Let's see. Let's see how we're doing. Ladies and gentlemen, welcome to the fuck around episode. We're just having a good time.
speaker-1: This is just the this is the behind the scenes episode.
speaker-0: Yeah, this is like I mean, yeah, kind of. We both
speaker-1: They sucked at at reading this past week. Well, I was busy as fuck. I've been writing a lot more than reading. For sure. I'm gonna I have to try to finish Monsters Don't Cry by tomorrow at noon because I have a meeting.
speaker-0: Machine. Fuck yeah.
speaker-1: So
speaker-0: That rules. Yeah, dude, we've got f over five hundred streams on podcasts right now, which is pretty sick.
speaker-1: Wait, like the podcast
speaker-0: Just on Apple and Spotify and
speaker-1: Bro, look at YouTube.
speaker-0: Good podcasting once more. Hold on. Podcasting.
speaker-1: Good podcast.
speaker-0: Good podcasting. Great podcasting.
speaker-1: I've been watching better look than Chuck. D do you like my my
speaker-0: I know I was gonna comment on that, dude. That is pretty sick. I like that. That's clean.
speaker-1: I went and did a video with our buddy Dan. you got two.
speaker-0: Right? It's going good, dude. 1K with our boys Shane. Let's fucking go. Hell yeah. That's fun. Yeah. Thank you, ladies and gentlemen.
speaker-1: Poppin'. We love you guys.
speaker-0: Yeah, fuck ya.
speaker-1: Then they're gonna watch this episode and be what the fuck's wrong with these idiots?
speaker-0: Yeah, they're gonna be like these guys don't have their shit together at all.
speaker-1: well we were mainly gonna talk about like the show me your tips release and all that, but we're just we're excited about Halloween.
speaker-0: Yeah, yeah. What are you gonna interview me now about? Show me no please don't, I'm kidding. but I did wanna ask you, 'cause you and I have talked about this off air a few times, but like trying to set up like like a schedule for reading books so that we can invite the viewers in to read along with us. and I feel like that might be pretty simple.
speaker-1: Did you tally up who's got the most right answers yet for the guest episode for the the viewer listener guest episode?
speaker-0: No, actually I owe that and I owe spin the wheel for Shane's All You Can Eat signed copy. So I gotta do that. And fuck it. Let's announce another giveaway. Ladies and gentlemen, Amazon buttfucked me in multiple ways with Show Me Your Tips. The second way they fucked me is by not sending me half of the copies that I paid for and they pushed it to this week and now it's not until November. So When the rest of my copies get in, I will be sending out the rest of the books. I've got all the all the orders right now are fulfilled. But I'm gonna be doing a giveaway with Show Me Your Tips. And what I'm thinking is I don't have any more of the goodies for the Just the Tip pizza boxes, but I'm gonna do a double pizza box with just the tip and show me your tips and some of the goodies from the show me your tips nice tips box. So What are some
speaker-1: Somebody already has just the tip though.
speaker-0: If somebody already has it, I'll throw a made a monster and if they already have that and just the tip, then they get a crisp high five, a copy of Show Me Your Tips, and I don't know, if if they can remember to text me by the time I drop another book, I'll send that motherfucker, dude.
speaker-1: I just really want you to release a physical copy of Scramble Eggs.
speaker-0: Scrambled eggs. Dude, I'll handwrite scrambled eggs and do a giveaway with that. It's like two thousand words. It'll take me forever to do that though, because I'm like really critical about my handwriting and I'll rewrite an entire page if I fuck up once.
speaker-1: Fair. You
speaker-0: Which I guess is.
speaker-1: have actually really nice handwriting.
speaker-0: Thank you. I used to I don't know if I told you this. I used to sit down and try to read my homework writing and I would get really mad at it because I would get roasted by teachers, roasted by my parents. I got called into the principal's office for how bad my handwriting was. So I would sit at home at my desk and I would practice cursive and like regular writing and I would write short stories. And that's how I kind of got into like I don't even know how old I was. I was probably in like fifth or sixth grade at the time. but yeah, that's really
speaker-1: Let's
speaker-0: Talk about writing. Okay. I love that.
speaker-1: Do you so do you do you actually like set time aside to write?
speaker-0: Yeah. Yeah. so like right now what I've been doing is like culminating ideas and like so I've talked about this a little bit, so I'll just gloss over it. But made a monster, I woke up from a dream and started writing just the tip. Marlia sent me an idea and I was like, I could turn that into a book and she's like, That was the point. so I did, and then show me your tips like came from obviously finishing just the tip. And then from there, like these like I've got all these ideas and I started writing intros for a couple of them, but like nothing was really striking me yet. but dude, last night I was falling asleep. I had three back to back, like crazy fucking ideas. so yes, what I'll start doing over the next few weeks is I will sit down as soon as I get home from work, basically. Like I I take a shower, eat my dinner. sit down at my desk and I will give myself one hour, no phone, no distractions, no anything. and I'll write and the goal is to write a thousand words or a chapter. or one hour, whichever one that is. usually I'll get into it and I'll start writing chapters. but that's like the the usual. I'll just do that till I finish the fucking book and then I have to convince myself to go reread it and edit it'll yeah. Yeah. I like Now that you're there.
speaker-1: Had this amazing idea from a terrible experience I had. And like it was like an hour and a half drive home from this terrible experience, and that's all I was doing was just thinking, getting the wheels going.
speaker-0: Getting pissed off.
speaker-1: And then getting even more mad.
speaker-0: Ha ha.
speaker-1: But then yeah, right when I started writing, I couldn't stop. Like I think I I wrote 1700 words alone that
speaker-0: Yeah dude that's
speaker-1: first day I started writing it. But yeah, like I still got ideas flowing. I'm really excited for where it's gonna I already know where it's gonna go. Cause I was smart. Like talking to all these authors that we have like the past few weeks, like the ideas of outlining things, doing other things. I've I'm I've been taking notes. I'm putting that stuff aside and figuring that shit out. So I've been
speaker-0: Breaking the Kool-Aid.
speaker-1: the information that these authors have been giving me and I'm Putting it to use.
speaker-0: Dude, it's really like I would say that it's not complicated. It's not easy, but it's not complicated. Like if you can get into the groove of it and accept that whatever you write the first time you write it's not gonna be good. So you like just keep getting the fucking words down. Like you can always go back and edit it. Like that's I mean, for me, that's what keeps me fucking going. It's just all right.
speaker-1: Yeah, and I'm I'm pretty confident about that because who my editor is. But I sent him just the prologue alone. And he's like he said, dude, this is he said something like this is poetry. And hearing that from Stuart Bray, it really boosted my confidence.
speaker-0: deaded. Yeah. Well, the fucking everything that you've sent me that you've written has been really good. Like it's obvious that you read. It's obvious that you know horror. Colby does horror. What are the odds? This guy has an understanding of how to build dread and tension. but like yeah it's it's very clear that you have a knack for that. And like now we just got to water those flowers, dude.
speaker-1: Yeah, like with my first book, I was real self conscious. Like I I reached out to you, the first book I wanted to write, that's probably never gonna get finished or released. But I reached out to you and I was like, Hey, here's this idea. You should write a book about this and you're like, No, this is your idea. Start writing.
speaker-0: I like, I'm not a fucking writer.
speaker-1: But but doing how much I've written for that book and I was sending you like every single chapter. And it was more of like a validation kind of thing because I look up to you as a writer and everything. So hearing the things you said about my writing, like it made me feel good, but this was just something like I don't know if I'm ever gonna be able to finish.
speaker-0: Mm-hmm.
speaker-1: But with this, it's a completely different story, it's original, might get me cancelled, I don't give a fuck.
speaker-0: It's I don't it's gonna get you cancelled by a fucking small ass group of people, dude, and nobody gives a fuck what they have to say.
speaker-1: No, but like this is this is a fun story. I'm having so much fun with it. I already made the cover art for it. I put my graphic design to use and I was like like like even on the way home, I was imagining the cover of it and I made the cover before I even started writing. Well, I think I had the prologue done. But man, it's it's just it's fun.
speaker-0: It is fun. Dude, it's like one of my favorite things about writing is like when you strike gold, it's kinda like golf. Like when you get like a really clean strike on that ball and you go, This is what I do it for, dude. Like you just like you hit that idea, you strike gold, and then you dive into this rabbit hole and then bang, dude, you're just ribbon. And it's
speaker-1: And it it's it's just like it's hard to put the phone or close the computer like put the phone down or close the computer because like you're on a roll. You already have this vision and like you just don't wanna stop like putting words to paper.
speaker-0: Yeah. Yeah. Dude last night I think it was like it was like eleven o'clock or whatever. You know me. I don't stay up late at all.
speaker-1: Eleven o'clock, my time or yours.
speaker-0: my time. So like that's me.
speaker-1: 'cause that's like one o'clock for me.
speaker-0: Yeah. And usually I'm going to bed before you.
speaker-1: You usually go to bed like eight o'clock my time.
speaker-0: Yeah, I'm in I'm typically in my Jimmy jams, dude, which is just fucking boxers in bed at fucking eight PM. but no, dude, it was like eleven o'clock last night. I laid down and I'm sitting there and like just a fucking idea hits me and I was like, I'll remember that. And then I'm like, No, you won't, you dumb motherfucker. You're halfway between sleep and being awake right now. This is good. So I open my notes app, I start writing. Let's see. I got so I wrote like what I do is I give them fake titles just to remember like what the intent of it is, and then like a paragraph or two or like an outline or whatever. So I've got the end is near, I've got one called Extreme, I've got another one called Forever Trapped, and then I've got The Bad Kid. And dude, the bad kid, I'm so fucking hyped for. Cause it's Devious
speaker-1: But that that's really funny that you do that because I do the same thing but with my content creation. Like I if I have ideas for a video, like last night I don't even remember doing it. I thought of like an idea for a video and I wrote it on my phone and I was going through my notes today and I was like, fuck, I forgot about that.
speaker-0: Yeah. Yeah, dude. And it like I d I don't know how you like do your notes. You saw because I created the fucking like shared folders for us. I'm so meticulous about how I like do everything. So I've got this whole list of fucking ideas and stuff. And yeah, I love that. I love that we both think that way. It's fun. It's I mean like you gotta organize your thoughts so that you can do stuff. but yeah, I don't know. Like I actually I was talking to Sierra. because she's trying to get her next book out. I think it's Red Womb, by like January or February is what she was telling me. the cover.
speaker-1: If that rips.
speaker-0: It's so sick. But she was talking to me about it and like I'm very similar where she was basically saying, like, as soon as there's a deadline on something, like I just freeze up. And I'm like, dude, I'm the same way. Like I can't tell myself that it needs to be done by XYZ, otherwise there's no way. Like I'll procrastinate my way out of it. So she and I are being accountability buddies. I actually need to text her back. but if you'd like to be part of that, just like, Hey, like I got X amount of words done today, like that little motivation. Start
speaker-1: group chat. Put me in there.
speaker-0: All right, Fishell, we'll do. We'll do. We'll have to have Sarah on to. I feel like she'd have a lot of fun.
speaker-1: I asked her a few weeks ago. She just had surgery, so she was waiting until like something until she healed up. So she is coming on soon. Which I'm
speaker-0: Okay, okay. Which
speaker-1: excited about. I love to see her.
speaker-0: I do too, yeah. She's great. Yeah. I told her about some of my other ideas and then like we started bullshitting about some of the stuff that like just she like felt about it.
speaker-1: actually like started becoming close was when we were both arc reading made a monster. She
speaker-0: really? Hell yeah.
speaker-1: like swiped up on my story when I posted that I had the arc. And then like we were just kind of going back and forth. Like when I got to like certain parts like the pot roast, I was like what the fuck is wrong with this dude? And like that's kind of when we became like good friends.
speaker-0: Mm. That's so sick, dude. I love that. That's
speaker-1: Made a monster bringing everybody together.
speaker-0: Dude, made a monster is for the people. It's for the
speaker-1: Ha ha ha.
speaker-0: David Washburn sent me his review for it and was like, Man, like, I don't know how I'm supposed to feel about this. That was dark. I was like, Yeah. but he gave it four stars. Which like
speaker-1: After after I finish Shane's book, I have to read David Washburn's because he wants me to write a blurb for it.
speaker-0: Hmm. is it a ARC?
speaker-1: Mm. Yeah, he sent me the book a couple
speaker-0: Rips.
speaker-1: of weeks ago and
speaker-0: I've been doing shit. He and I book swapped. I've got DIY Exorcism. That's one that's on my list. actually, you know what? I owe Ryan C. Thomas. I should probably I'm gonna start start. I'm gonna read a fucking lot of this book tonight. Love is a Monstrous Death with Ryan C. Thomas and Anthony Trevino. that's the one I was telling you about where it's like the aliens make people fuck to death or whatever. But it's like a 200 page on Kindle, so it's it's a quick one. so I'm gonna rip through that one. I'm gonna finish it this week. And then I saw another creator, I think I sent you her shit on TikTok. her name's Rebecca A. Noble, and she had an ARC in her bio, and I've been seeing it all over the splatterpunk group and on Instagram, and I like we have some mutuals that have been reading it saying it's a banger. Called It's Quiet Between Bites. So I want to check that out. And then I went and looked at her stuff and she's got like three or four books out. so her birthday was the other day and she posted a thing about like giving out free free copies for Kindle or whatever, cause it's my birthday. I was like, fuck that, I'm just gonna go buy one from her. So I ordered one of the books. I think it's the monster the monster under my bed loves me or something like that. It's another quick one. so I want to check that out. But
speaker-1: And also they're kinda on the same like storyline of that, I know you saw this 'cause I saw you comment on it, but there's this girl that posted in the Splatterpunk group that were in on Facebook all the time.
speaker-0: Jeff Wilson.
speaker-1: She was saying how she's been reading Splatterpunk for a while and she f she's about like finally like gotten the courage to like start her own book. So
speaker-0: Mm-hmm.
speaker-1: along the lines of that, like do if you have a story Just fucking start writing.
speaker-0: I think something I really want to point out with Jess too. what is cool, and this is what I did, is she started by building a presence in just giving reviews, which is like the best way to do it because you like become part of a community. Her too. And her reviews rip. Like she puts genuine effort into and she's reviewed I think she's reviewed Betabonster and just the tip. which thank you, Jess. I appreciate you. But like She does these incredible reviews that get like a lot of attention. And so, like, you know, if you are wanting to start writing a book like Jess, like being a part of the community so that when people see that you're out there actually doing the work, they want to support you. Like that's huge. Like I like I texted her or I sent her a message on Facebook or whatever the fuck. I was like, yo, you're gonna blow up. Like there's no way you can't. Like you already built the presence. Like, keep going. This is super cool. But yeah, it's it's fun seeing like new people, new faces, like being like, Hey, like I kinda wanna try this and see if I can cut my teeth. Like Yeah. Why not? Dude, it's it's super cool.
speaker-1: And like I'm not I'm not writing a book to fucking be famous to or clout or anything. Like I'm just a huge fan of Splater Punk, most of the authors around it. And I think it'd just be cool to be part of the community.
speaker-0: Yeah.
speaker-1: But I also have like a really fucking cool idea.
speaker-0: Yeah, dude, I think your idea rips and it is gonna be gnarly. People are gonna be like, yo. But dude, it is fun. And it's like I think that like a a large part of the genre is meant to be fun, dude. Like, yes, we write super depraved and fucked up stuff.
speaker-1: But it's so over the top that it's like
speaker-0: Comical. Well, it's me it's like I think it's meant to elicit the response of like you kind of have to laugh at it. Like we talked about it a couple weeks ago. which in that lane, since I'm giving shout outs tonight, fucking Matthew John Smith sent me three stories of Killer Mike and the Blood Blood Slugs. And my favorite one was this one called A Night on the Town. And dude, it's about like Killer Mike and he meets this chick after a show, and like you think like they're just hitting it off. And then it just goes so fucking south. And it's like, yo. And like it's it's the prose is great, the writing's great, it's short, it's punchy, it's fun, it's violent. this just dropped I think it dropped like a week ago. so like shout out fucking Matthew John Smith. Like, I'm I'm just seeing like, you know, people are people are dropping some great shit. And like I just want people to highlight like Yes, there are popular authors that are really fucking good and you're always gonna find bangers with them. But there are like these people that are dropping like all kinds of books all over the place. And like my favorite part is just going out and reading whatever the fuck is going on. Yeah. so like I'm I'm really enjoying that part of like this journey, this genre, like all that stuff.
speaker-1: It's fun. It's a fun ride. It's a fun process. I'm just I'm definitely excited to get it out there when I'm done.
speaker-0: Yeah. Yeah. Yeah.
speaker-1: And like my original idea, I was just like I was just so fucking pissed off. Like I like I was raging. Like I was I was mad, okay? So I was just gonna just write this angry fucking like violence on the meek style, which my prologue is very heavily inspired by Violence on the Meek, but in like a different kind of way. But I was thinking about it, like I'm just gonna write just like this extreme horror short story type of thing. But then the more I thought about it, I like, Well I could add like this mental health aspect to make it splatter punk. And then I thought of like also adding like an addiction side story aspect for even more like layers of the story. And I'm just like it's just all hitting me. I'm like, fuck yeah.
speaker-0: Dude, that's the most fun part. That's what I love. Like I was reading a review of Show Me Your Tips. I know I was listening to it. And the person like related me to like the writing for Show Me Your Tips to a I think she said Guy Ritchie movie where like it's just like different POVs and like all this overlapping stuff. And like I never even thought about it. Like that's just the style that I enjoy, but I thought it was really cool to be like related to something like that. and then have the examples like and I'm not trying to like, you know, like hype myself up or anything. That's not what this is about. But it's just like it the fun that I have with writing is like, okay, here's the idea. And then kind of like what you're saying, like, okay, here's a layer, here's another idea that can fold in and here's like now that I have that storyline going, like all these other things can now happen because of that. And it's like the way it all ties together is just like Yeah. It's a fun puzzle to like build for yourself, essentially. It's a lot of fun. So do you think this is gonna be more of a novella then?
speaker-1: Yeah, I think it'll it'll still be like in the along the lines of a novella, but it's definitely gonna be a lot longer than just a short story.
speaker-0: For sure. Sure.
speaker-1: But yeah, I'm excited. Like I haven't even gotten into like the nitty gritty dirty shit yet. Like I'm just I'm having fun building these two characters up right now.
speaker-0: Yeah. Yeah. I love that. I love that so much. Yeah. Like I I was saying on the podcast with Shane, like one of the things that I do like 'cause I like to be a little experimental with stuff, but like one of the things that I kinda wanna try is writing a book that feels like it's not horror until like the end and the ending is what makes the entire rest of the book feel like horror. Like just something like that where it's like, Rob wrote like a romance or something. Like, I don't know, whatever that is. Like And then it just like the way it ends, you go, fuck. Like so I don't know what that is yet, but like that's
speaker-1: What kind of book do you want Rob to write again? Like a exoti like a dark realm? Horror erotica is what Coda w keeps telling you to write.
speaker-0: Or erotica. I know and I keep asking her, does that have to be smutty? And she says no.
speaker-1: Yeah, but the smut you ride is is pretty good.
speaker-0: Yeah, thank you. I I hate
speaker-1: Volpey level good, but it's I think Volpe level the best smut.
speaker-0: Yeah, he he does. He writes pretty fucking good smile. You go, dear, I have to go home.
speaker-1: Volpey be making me sweat when I'm writing.
speaker-0: No shit, dude. didn't Patrick C. Harrison write a few that got y'all hot and bothered too? Dude.
speaker-1: MILF management. Holy fuck.
speaker-0: MILF management.
speaker-1: It it's really short. It took me like twenty minutes to read on Kindle.
speaker-0: Anders bricked the entire tab.
speaker-1: Well, I mean you know PC three's writing and I was just expecting it to go like off the rails and just be disgusting and f no, it was just straight smut.
speaker-0: It's fun. It is, I don't know. I don't really like writing it. It's just like, for me, it's like whatever like more writing stuff. It's like what the characters decide is gonna happen. Like that's how like I had no intention whatsoever of having any sexual content in show me your tips, even though it's about strippers. Like, or like obviously there would be like references to it, but I wasn't gonna be graphic about it. And then it's just like, they walk into a VIP room and then XYZ happens. no, now I gotta write this stuff. But like, yeah, I don't know. Like I sit there and I just like I personally cringe at it, but then I have to read it and edit it and make it not suck. So
speaker-1: Yeah.
speaker-0: then I'm like sitting there, I'm blushing as I'm writing, like I can't believe I wrote this.
speaker-1: It's funny too because I I even told Coda, I like, I'm not gonna put any like sexual assault or probably like any
speaker-0: Yeah.
speaker-1: like spicy stuff in it, and then that night wrote a spicy scene. But it's like it it has purpose to it. It's not just fucking for no reason. It only lasts like maybe thirty seconds 'cause it's kinda like a flashback type of thing that like why these characters have the connection they do type type of thing. But yeah, I'm I'm not gonna go All in like that yet.
speaker-0: I do have I do have one that I'm like to me it's very campy. I've told you about it. We could talk about it again off off air 'cause I think I am gonna write it, but dude, it's just gonna be like it's gonna be fucking, it's gonna be sexy, it's gonna be gory as all hell.
speaker-1: I'm still waiting for the one that you started writing at Firestone in Rockford, Illinois.
speaker-0: Yeah. I'll just name drop it right now, dude. The Halloween House Party Massacre.
speaker-1: That's that's called.
speaker-0: Yeah, every single time I start writing it though, like I think I overcomplicate it. Cause like I always try to like put too many layers into something. And then I get trapped in like, well, how do I get to that point? And I think what I need to do is just like because dude, sometimes just a mindless fucking blood fest like is so fun. And I think that's what that's gonna be. Yeah. And I think I'm gonna write like I think it's gonna be like one of those like silly, like, you know, PC three's got like the pocket nasties and like you know what I mean? Like I think it's gonna be like 'cause I have more ideas that like fit that sort of vibe that I think could just be like Rob's version of the fucking just gore fest, like over the top, funny, violent, stupid, like that sort of shit.
speaker-1: I like that.
speaker-0: Yeah. We'll see if I get around to it. I've got a lot of ideas, but
speaker-1: I just had a fucking amazing idea too that we need to talk about while we're recording.
speaker-0: We got so many exclusives.
speaker-1: We write it down before I forget.
speaker-0: Yeah, there you go. now I gotta entertain the people because podcasting. No, it's writing really is. I mean, even if you're not gonna put it out, I think it's important, you know. If if you like to read splatter in extreme, which obviously, if you're listening to this podcast, you do like to do that. It is fun to sit down and just test your ideas. In fact, I owe fucking our boy Matthew a read of something that he wrote. He wrote a chapter, I think a chapter and a prologue and kicked it over to me. and I promised him I'd read it on lunch the other day, and then I got fucking busy, which sucks. but yeah, he sent me something pretty pretty quick. I could probably bust it out tonight, actually. thirty five hundred words. Yeah, I can rip through that. But yeah, it's fun. And like obviously as I'm saying that, people are probably thinking, Rob will just read shit that we send him. Like, probably. Like
speaker-1: I will too.
speaker-0: if you just go, Hey, like, I'm kinda looking for advice on this, like I can't always do it, but like dude.
speaker-1: For what I do. And I I promise I'm not bragging, but like the following I have, like I have directors, authors sending me stuff every day. And I and I appreciate the writing a lot more than the movies. Like the a lot of the movies are really rough. But still don't don't let that stop you from sending me movies. Because like if I don't like an indie movie, I just won't review it. Hard
speaker-0: Mm-hmm.
speaker-1: for me, not like it's hard for me to give a book less than four stars. 'Cause I know how it like obviously I know what goes into making a movie. But like the ideas and like putting yourself out there for a book, dude, I don't know. There's just something different about it. And I don't know, I think I can just visualize like the books a lot better. Like when I read a book, I see it in my head like I'm watching a fucking movie. Yeah. And it's just like all the flaws you see in movies, I don't see those flaws in books. Mm-hmm. Like, yeah, I'll get characters that annoy the fuck out of me sometimes, but
speaker-0: Yeah. Sometimes I'll get writing like and you know, I've had people send me stuff where I've I've had to be like, Hey, like I I like the idea, but like we gotta work on this writing or something. You know what I mean? 'Cause it's like that's that's kind of what I'm getting at. And and I I I completely understand like the first draft when you're just writing something and you give it to somebody and you go, Hey, like, do you think this is a good idea? Like and I'm sitting there going, We got six different POV switches in the first four paragraphs and like you're going from past tense to present tense to future tense and like All these different things, like I was doing that too. It made a monster. I wrote like dude, I wrote so many different perspectives and tenses in the first like draft of that book that it fucked me for like two months to rewrite.
speaker-1: That's why that's why I like writing in first person POV because it helps me stay on track better.
speaker-0: That's fair. I'm the polar opposite of that. I cannot do first
speaker-1: I like to put myself in the position of who I'm writing about and it just makes it a lot easier in my
speaker-0: opinion. Yeah. I'm kinda like I don't know. I d I don't want to do a Patreon because I like I don't to me like I don't really like the idea of a Patreon. Like maybe if we develop it at some point, like it would be cool. But I'm kind of thinking about trying to set something up for just like uploading like snippets of stories and ideas and things. Like if people want to read them 'cause like I write a lot of shit and it doesn't always turn That's true. I could do that. I could do a sub stack. Yeah. Yeah. Something just to like upload so that people can kind of see like what's going on. Like I don't personally think that I have like the greatest ideas on earth. I don't like I I'm not here to sit there and be like, you know, check out what I do and and think like me and whatever. But like it is kind of fun to just like put it out there and see what people think.
speaker-1: Yeah, like obviously you have a lot of readers. It would be cool for people to see like day to day updates about stuff and like obviously there's different tiers and people can do like the tier of like reading your just random shit.
speaker-0: Mm-hmm. Mm-hmm. Yeah, we'll see. I don't know. I've been like back and forth on it. Another thing I've been thinking about doing is a like like maybe a monthly I don't know about giveaway, but like some sort of like thing where it's like, you know, try try to drive some hype. Everybody comments something that freaks them out, and then I try to write like a fucking 1,000 word short story or something like that. Cause for me, it's like to be that's getting reps. Like can I take a random idea and turn it into something that freaks you out genuinely? Like that's so I don't know, maybe we could do something like that for the pod where it's like once a month I'll I'll write something and then I'll try to fucking read it out loud to you guys or something like that. Which I I think that might be cool. but
speaker-1: Yeah, that'd be dope. And listeners, if you guys have ideas too, fucking let us know in the comments. DM us, comment on the YouTube, comment on the Spotify, whatever. Our
speaker-0: There is a
speaker-1: DMs are always open.
speaker-0: Yeah, yeah, there is a good chance if you hit us with a I have a really good idea and I really want you to write it, I will tell you to write it yourself. But I'll tell you if it's a good idea or not.
speaker-1: I know that from first hand.
speaker-0: Yeah, I do I like cause like dude like if you have the idea like dig like don't give it to me like take it for yourself like this might be the next fucking Stephen King that's sending me this idea that they have right at the fuck down dude Don't give me the credit no but anyways yeah just just idea flowing for a minute there just seeing what's out there but yeah no we'll we'll probably be back to like the the Average or not the average, but the usual setup, you know, we'll we'll come
speaker-1: So a nice layout episode as usual.
speaker-0: Fully planned out episodes, yeah, instead of just jumping on and bullshitting for a little bit. But we've both been busy as fuck and obviously wanted to throw something together, so Yeah.
speaker-1: And if like you're a new listener 'cause of our fucking viewer, like our viewership's going fucking crazy right now. Like if you're not familiar with us, I guess this is kind of a like get to know us type of thing, our personalities. 'Cause it's just us bullshit right now.
speaker-0: Come hang out. I I do think it'd be cool. I don't I don't wanna set up a Discord, but like maybe like do like a fucking Instagram or TikTok live and just bullshit and get as many people into their talking as possible or something. It'd be fun.
speaker-1: Actually no, I think a Discord for the podcast is actually a pretty good idea.
speaker-0: Do you? Dude, who's gonna be the Discord mod and who's gonna be the kitten? I don't know. We'll figure it out. All these ideas, we'll come up with something. no, a Discord might be fun. I just I don't know how to set up a Discord and like organize it. Do you?
speaker-1: Figure it out.
speaker-0: Fucking get Buckner on it, dude.
speaker-1: Buckner will be the mediator.
speaker-0: Yeah dude, Buckner will be the fucking display or whatever.
speaker-1: Yeah, yeah.
speaker-0: Sierra can be his Discord kitten. Sorry, Sierra. man. Sorry, Buckner. I love you guys.
speaker-1: Well, we have hit the hour mark.
speaker-0: fuck, dude. Well, ladies and gentlemen, it's been another episode of Psych Dumbass. You thought this was over. Colby, do you have any book recommendations or songs that you think people should listen to?
speaker-1: God damn, I forgot about that. You go first.
speaker-0: I love that I do that to you and then I go, Well, fuck, how do I no? I will say the song that I think you should listen to right now is Amongst the Low and Empty by Signs of the Swarm because it's a banger and they fucking rip ass live, like in in the good way, not they rip ass live. They fucking they shred cheeks, dude. They fucking are so sick live. And then if I'm gonna recommend a book for y'all to read. Honestly, it's music to sacrifice virgins to if you really want something to be the most dark and fucked up shit you've ever read. Like it is heavy, but it's a banger. And if you like audiobooks, it's narrated by Chuck Bruggy, who's done Show Me Your Tips, or sorry, just the Tip and Made a Monster. Show Me Your Tips actually is getting done by Miss Lila Carey, who exclusive. Very excited about that. She sent me the 15 minute check in and it fucking rules, dude. Did I send it to you? Remember.
speaker-1: I don't know, I can't.
speaker-0: I'll send it to you again. What do you got first, Colby?
speaker-1: My recommendation is show me your tips.
speaker-0: It holy fuck.
speaker-1: And my song for that is The Gun Show by In This Moment.
speaker-0: Dude, I love that. Welcome to the gun shop.
speaker-1: and once you read it, you'll know.
speaker-0: Yep. How perfect was that song pick too? Like for you Dude, I I hate it too.
speaker-1: Yeah.
speaker-0: But welcome to the gun show. For that scene specifically, I'm a genius.
speaker-1: It was solid.
speaker-0: I'm just kidding. Anyways, that's it. Ladies and gentlemen, this has been another podcast with two of the fucking dumbest guys who could have started a podcast. Colby does horror. Rob Nelson of Rob Nelson Horror. It's you boys. Tune in next week on Wednesday for another episode of Splatterpels. Bye.

speaker-0: he deep throats it. Ladies and gentlemen. Wow. To go into town.
speaker-1: damn, I was trying to bite the thing and spit it. Whatever, turn it off.
speaker-0: That mic's gonna bust. All right, love you.
