Stop Looking Everywhere Except God | Isaiah 8
Why do we turn to everything except God when life gets hard?
That's exactly what Isaiah 8 confronts.
As Judah faces invasion, uncertainty, and fear, God repeatedly calls His people back to Himself. Instead of trusting His Word, they chase political solutions, human wisdom, conspiracy theories, false spiritual voices, and their own strength.
Sound familiar?
In this episode of Simple Discipleship, Andy Price, Mike Forbis, Sam Mullins, and Charles Burnett unpack one of Isaiah's most relevant chapters and show why its message speaks directly to our generation.
Together they discuss:
✨ Why fear is often a symptom of misplaced faith
📖 What it really means to fear the Lord
🌊 The powerful picture of waters rising "only to the neck"
💡 Why people living in darkness desperately need the Light of Christ
🛡️ How trusting God's Word brings peace in uncertain times
⚠️ The danger of looking everywhere except God for answers
❤️ Why there is always hope because Immanuel—God with us—has come
🙌 The beautiful promise that God always preserves a faithful remnant
One statement from this conversation stands above the rest:
The waters may rise to your neck... but they're always under Jesus' feet.
No matter what you're facing today—fear, uncertainty, anxiety, suffering, or doubt—Isaiah 8 reminds us that God has never lost control.
When the world says panic...
Jesus says,
"Trust Me."
