Green Bay Packers news today, Thursday, February 19, 2026: Matt LaFleur officially interviews Cameron Achord and Kyle Wilber to replace Rich Bisaccia as special teams coordinator, latest Packers coaching rumors, and a deep-dive into the search for the new leader of the "We-Fense."
Packer Nation, the search is officially ON! As of Thursday, February 19, 2026, head coach Matt LaFleur is wasting no time in finding a successor to Rich Bisaccia, who stepped down earlier this week. The Packers have reportedly interviewed two intriguing candidates: Cameron Achord, the former Patriots coordinator who led New England to the #1 special teams ranking in 2020, and Kyle Wilber, a former Packers quality control coach and Saints assistant who played for Bisaccia in Dallas and Las Vegas. We break down the "Rooney Rule" implications, why Wilber offers continuity, and if Achord's "Belichick-style" discipline is exactly what this unit needs after a disastrous 2025 campaign defined by missed kicks and botched onside recoveries.
In this breaking update, we also tackle the ripple effects across the roster. How does this coaching search impact the huge decision regarding Josh Jacobs and his $14.5M cap hit? We analyze the Micah Parsons vs. Skip Bayless social media war and whether the "Parsons distraction" is something the new staff will have to manage alongside his ACL rehab. Plus, we look at the 2026 NFL Draft—with the Packers currently $16.9 million over the salary cap, will the new coordinator have a say in finding "Special Teams Aces" in the middle rounds to support a 100% healthy Jordan Love? From the coaching search to the cap crisis, we have you covered!
