Networking Unleashed: An Interview with Shadeed Eleazer and Michael A Forman, Professional Speaker

WEBVTT
00:00:16.519 --> 00:00:19.980
Welcome to Networking Unleashed, Building Profitable
00:00:19.980 --> 00:00:23.260
Connections, the podcast where relationships
00:00:23.260 --> 00:00:27.300
fuel opportunity and conversations become revenue.
00:00:27.859 --> 00:00:31.660
I'm your host, Michael Forman. Everyone has knowledge,
00:00:31.960 --> 00:00:34.859
but few people know how to turn that knowledge
00:00:34.859 --> 00:00:38.700
into influence, authority, and lasting impact.
00:00:39.500 --> 00:00:42.329
Today's guest has mastered the art of packaging
00:00:42.329 --> 00:00:46.090
expertise into intellectual property that builds
00:00:46.090 --> 00:00:49.789
brands, grows businesses, and creates professional
00:00:49.789 --> 00:00:53.229
networks. We'll explore why your greatest competitive
00:00:53.229 --> 00:00:57.409
advantage isn't who you know, it's what you know.
00:00:58.109 --> 00:01:01.829
How you share it and value and how you create
00:01:01.829 --> 00:01:05.450
it for others. This is a conversation every entrepreneur,
00:01:05.810 --> 00:01:08.969
leader, coach, and professional needs to hear.
00:01:09.180 --> 00:01:14.439
So I'd like to welcome to my podcast today, Shadeed.
00:01:14.599 --> 00:01:17.019
I'm really confusing both of your first and last
00:01:17.019 --> 00:01:21.599
names. So Shadeed, welcome to my podcast and
00:01:21.599 --> 00:01:24.920
just give us a little clip notes of how you got
00:01:24.920 --> 00:01:30.950
where you are today. Thank you, Michael. led
00:01:30.950 --> 00:01:34.069
to my journey. First of all, I was raised in
00:01:34.069 --> 00:01:37.269
a family of entrepreneur minded people. So what
00:01:37.269 --> 00:01:41.250
this means briefly is that no matter where a
00:01:41.250 --> 00:01:44.209
family member may have worked, the concept has
00:01:44.209 --> 00:01:47.689
always been to do for self plant seeds in your
00:01:47.689 --> 00:01:51.170
own backyard, gain and acquire knowledge, no
00:01:51.170 --> 00:01:53.349
matter where you may work or what business you
00:01:53.349 --> 00:01:57.170
may start. So I learned very early on that building
00:01:57.170 --> 00:01:59.969
for self and entrepreneurship was the key to
00:01:59.969 --> 00:02:02.829
success and some of my earliest examples flashing
00:02:02.829 --> 00:02:07.609
forward to the United States Navy. I was involved
00:02:07.609 --> 00:02:10.909
in Operation Enduring Freedom, which was the
00:02:10.909 --> 00:02:13.889
response to the attacks on 9 -11. This was my
00:02:13.889 --> 00:02:17.409
first licensing example in that I developed a
00:02:17.409 --> 00:02:20.849
training package to help boost operational readiness
00:02:20.849 --> 00:02:24.330
for nine combat systems divisions, which earned
00:02:24.330 --> 00:02:27.520
me a Navy achievement medal at the time. Many
00:02:27.520 --> 00:02:30.500
years ago, I did not realize that this was licensing,
00:02:30.719 --> 00:02:34.400
but this was my first licensing example. Flashing
00:02:34.400 --> 00:02:39.060
forward to landing my dream opportunity as a
00:02:39.060 --> 00:02:43.300
professional, I developed a model on my own where
00:02:43.300 --> 00:02:46.120
I was hosting live events, essentially a community
00:02:46.120 --> 00:02:50.819
business model that my parent company invested
00:02:50.819 --> 00:02:54.870
in. to the tune of a $12 million government contract.
00:02:55.110 --> 00:02:58.150
Now, this was a pivotal moment for me in that
00:02:58.150 --> 00:03:03.270
I did not receive a salary raise, incentives,
00:03:03.810 --> 00:03:06.689
compensation outside of my normal salary. So
00:03:06.689 --> 00:03:11.490
this led to me going on my own and developing
00:03:11.490 --> 00:03:15.750
a licensing model that was licensed to 17 US
00:03:15.750 --> 00:03:19.189
states and using a government or a governor's
00:03:19.189 --> 00:03:23.879
reelection campaign. And so This led to me helping
00:03:23.879 --> 00:03:26.340
entrepreneur speakers, authors, coaches, and
00:03:26.340 --> 00:03:30.979
experts with packaging their expertise and building
00:03:30.979 --> 00:03:33.879
their brands, their businesses through the art
00:03:33.879 --> 00:03:37.039
and science and passion of content licensing.
00:03:37.219 --> 00:03:40.060
So here we are today, Michael. All right. Very
00:03:40.060 --> 00:03:42.300
good. First of all, thank you for your service.
00:03:42.680 --> 00:03:46.020
I am a veteran of Desert Storm. I was with the
00:03:46.020 --> 00:03:49.460
United States Air Force. So I can see how we're
00:03:49.460 --> 00:03:54.120
going to get along. Okay. Many people spend hours
00:03:54.120 --> 00:03:57.379
building a network, but never build intellectual
00:03:57.379 --> 00:04:01.520
property, which creates more of a lasting influence.
00:04:02.199 --> 00:04:05.800
Relationships or original ideas, and how do the
00:04:05.800 --> 00:04:10.259
two strengthen each other? When we talk about
00:04:10.259 --> 00:04:15.090
the correlation or Which may be more important
00:04:15.090 --> 00:04:18.610
the relationship or intellectual property we
00:04:18.610 --> 00:04:21.990
have to think about what intellectual property
00:04:21.990 --> 00:04:24.889
brings to a relationship if I'm able to walk
00:04:24.889 --> 00:04:28.569
into the room and My credibility is literally
00:04:28.569 --> 00:04:32.750
broadcast on a t -shirt That helps me to stand
00:04:32.750 --> 00:04:36.110
out so when you are at a general networking event
00:04:36.110 --> 00:04:39.310
for example And everyone's just looking for jobs
00:04:39.310 --> 00:04:42.189
and there's no specificity behind the event or
00:04:42.189 --> 00:04:45.069
why people are gathering, that isn't considered
00:04:45.069 --> 00:04:48.230
high value networking and relationships. However,
00:04:48.810 --> 00:04:52.670
if you are a successful podcast host and I am
00:04:52.670 --> 00:04:56.430
a published author and we have a synergy that
00:04:56.589 --> 00:05:00.410
brings credibility and alignment to that relationship.
00:05:00.449 --> 00:05:03.610
So if everyone has a gift and we all believe
00:05:03.610 --> 00:05:06.250
that everyone has a gift or a talent and they
00:05:06.250 --> 00:05:10.069
develop and pack that gift or talent into intellectual
00:05:10.069 --> 00:05:13.829
property, what this does is it creates a more
00:05:13.829 --> 00:05:16.589
or less a lighthouse for other ships that are
00:05:16.589 --> 00:05:19.509
sailing by to be attracted to essentially is
00:05:19.509 --> 00:05:23.339
a magnet for building relationships. So intellectual
00:05:23.339 --> 00:05:26.620
property to answer your question would be the
00:05:26.620 --> 00:05:30.279
magnet that leads to profitable and long lasting
00:05:30.279 --> 00:05:32.579
relationships, especially in a business context.
00:05:34.639 --> 00:05:37.199
Absolutely. I can't agree with you more. And
00:05:37.199 --> 00:05:39.699
there are so many points that I wanted to bring
00:05:39.699 --> 00:05:43.120
up while you were talking because I'm a networker.
00:05:43.459 --> 00:05:46.399
I do podcasting, but I go across the country
00:05:46.399 --> 00:05:50.819
and I speak about networking. And the intellectual
00:05:50.819 --> 00:05:54.220
property that you bring to the table, that is
00:05:54.220 --> 00:05:56.939
a main focus. And you're right. And that's like
00:05:56.939 --> 00:06:00.920
the magnet that attracts everybody. But it takes
00:06:00.920 --> 00:06:04.339
what you know after that to keep them around
00:06:04.339 --> 00:06:09.420
you. OK, so it's that will get you there, but
00:06:09.420 --> 00:06:11.300
then you have to keep them here. But that's a
00:06:11.300 --> 00:06:14.379
whole other conversation. You've helped professionals
00:06:14.379 --> 00:06:18.040
package their expertise into intellectual property.
00:06:18.430 --> 00:06:22.149
Why do so many talented people underestimate
00:06:22.149 --> 00:06:27.389
the value of what they already know? Great question
00:06:27.389 --> 00:06:35.629
when a task a service or a deliverable is native
00:06:35.629 --> 00:06:41.870
to the expert they believe that the value of
00:06:41.870 --> 00:06:46.430
it itself is it's easy I can Created deliverable.
00:06:46.550 --> 00:06:49.209
I can create a project plan in five minutes I
00:06:49.209 --> 00:06:52.250
can just stand on stage without any rehearsal
00:06:52.250 --> 00:06:55.990
and host a networking event I can put together
00:06:55.990 --> 00:06:59.709
a podcast episode with no rehearsal. There's
00:06:59.709 --> 00:07:03.370
no stage fright. There's no Awkwardness involved
00:07:03.370 --> 00:07:06.709
with the delivery of a podcast episode. So if
00:07:06.709 --> 00:07:09.490
I'm an expert I have an innate gift skill or
00:07:09.490 --> 00:07:14.829
talent in a given area I underestimate what the
00:07:14.829 --> 00:07:19.269
value is for the listener, subscriber, or the
00:07:19.269 --> 00:07:23.189
recipient of said talent. And so what we have
00:07:23.189 --> 00:07:26.509
to realize as experts, as speakers, as networkers,
00:07:26.550 --> 00:07:30.470
as coaches, as entrepreneurs is that you are
00:07:30.470 --> 00:07:34.230
not your target audience. And you have to think
00:07:34.230 --> 00:07:38.310
about what the value is of the deliverable that
00:07:38.310 --> 00:07:40.269
you're giving, the service that you're providing.
00:07:40.649 --> 00:07:46.310
For example, if I've had a gift for giving advice
00:07:46.310 --> 00:07:50.170
and that developed into being a marriage counselor.
00:07:50.470 --> 00:07:54.990
Now that gift has been with me all my life. However,
00:07:55.490 --> 00:07:58.930
the price or the value of saving a marriage that
00:07:58.930 --> 00:08:01.230
is on the rocks, maybe a couple has been together
00:08:01.230 --> 00:08:04.230
for 20 years and rekindled that relationship
00:08:04.230 --> 00:08:07.250
and now they're madly in love or more in love
00:08:07.250 --> 00:08:12.029
than ever. The value of said delivery is priceless.
00:08:12.050 --> 00:08:15.029
So think in terms of what is the value to the
00:08:15.029 --> 00:08:17.670
marketplace? What is the value of what I'm delivering
00:08:17.670 --> 00:08:22.949
and not applying your own ease of delivery into
00:08:22.949 --> 00:08:28.310
that service or product? Very well said. Very
00:08:28.310 --> 00:08:33.029
well said. How many years did you put into the
00:08:33.029 --> 00:08:37.529
Navy? I was in the Navy for six years. For six
00:08:37.529 --> 00:08:41.289
years, okay. I'm just because you seem like you
00:08:41.289 --> 00:08:45.350
you're very well adjusted you have a mind for
00:08:45.350 --> 00:08:48.370
what you're talking about and you're very confident
00:08:48.370 --> 00:08:52.809
in what you're talking about and I can just see
00:08:52.809 --> 00:08:55.889
that with you being on a ship with you being
00:08:55.889 --> 00:08:59.149
somewhere else, but it's that confidence where
00:08:59.149 --> 00:09:04.299
you can lead others and it just It's a trait
00:09:04.299 --> 00:09:08.879
that I so rarely find in my guests that I just
00:09:08.879 --> 00:09:11.139
had to tell you about it. Thank you. Thank you
00:09:11.139 --> 00:09:17.360
for that. In an age where AI can generate content
00:09:17.360 --> 00:09:22.480
in seconds, what makes original thinking and
00:09:22.480 --> 00:09:27.919
lived experience more valuable than ever? AI
00:09:27.919 --> 00:09:35.149
is a wonderful tool. AI can write a book, AI
00:09:35.149 --> 00:09:38.629
can build a website, build applications. However,
00:09:39.649 --> 00:09:43.870
what AI tends to lack is the human element. And
00:09:43.870 --> 00:09:47.610
so what you will see today and you'll start to
00:09:47.610 --> 00:09:51.490
find more and more as we become more mature as
00:09:51.490 --> 00:09:57.120
a society with the adoption of AI is that thought
00:09:57.120 --> 00:10:01.080
leaders, speakers, experts, coaches, people who
00:10:01.080 --> 00:10:05.000
have a viewpoint and either are paid or retained
00:10:05.000 --> 00:10:09.940
for that viewpoint or that expertise. When they
00:10:09.940 --> 00:10:15.159
use a tool that gives a generic response, audiences
00:10:15.159 --> 00:10:18.980
and recipients and subscribers are becoming more
00:10:18.980 --> 00:10:23.559
savvy to what looks and appears to be AI. And
00:10:23.559 --> 00:10:28.429
so if you want to disqualify yourself from being
00:10:28.429 --> 00:10:31.789
in the elite class within your industry. Just
00:10:31.789 --> 00:10:35.330
continue to use AI without any thought or any
00:10:35.330 --> 00:10:38.870
context. Now, when we talk about original thought
00:10:38.870 --> 00:10:43.210
and experience and expertise, this is the foundation
00:10:43.210 --> 00:10:47.690
of what makes us unique. So one of my biggest
00:10:47.690 --> 00:10:51.769
fears prior to AI was to get on a stage and let's
00:10:51.769 --> 00:10:54.009
say talk about a product, let's say Microsoft
00:10:54.009 --> 00:10:56.710
Word. And so I give a presentation on Microsoft
00:10:56.710 --> 00:10:59.049
Word. Everything's going great. And it happens
00:10:59.049 --> 00:11:02.610
to be an expert from Microsoft themselves who
00:11:02.610 --> 00:11:05.769
says, actually, that is not how it works. And
00:11:05.769 --> 00:11:08.750
this is all wrong. My laptop melts. The crowd
00:11:08.750 --> 00:11:12.690
walks out. Worst case scenario. And so what I
00:11:12.690 --> 00:11:16.830
learned is in order to overcome that scenarios,
00:11:17.110 --> 00:11:21.500
to simply say, based on my experience, this is
00:11:21.500 --> 00:11:26.240
how Microsoft Word worked for me. Or based on
00:11:26.240 --> 00:11:28.840
this particular scenario and these parameters,
00:11:29.399 --> 00:11:32.279
this is how I was able to put together this solution.
00:11:32.440 --> 00:11:37.100
And so when we talk about AI and prompts, your
00:11:37.100 --> 00:11:41.159
experience in your samples and your case studies
00:11:41.159 --> 00:11:44.870
are what you should. infuse or sprinkle into
00:11:44.870 --> 00:11:47.789
the recipe of the perfect prompt in order to
00:11:47.789 --> 00:11:51.690
ensure that your AI output matches your voice,
00:11:52.210 --> 00:11:55.610
your authenticity, your stories. So what you
00:11:55.610 --> 00:12:00.429
feed AI will result in not only a faster deliverable,
00:12:00.610 --> 00:12:03.990
but something that matches what you would say
00:12:03.990 --> 00:12:06.350
or what you would share coming out of your own
00:12:06.350 --> 00:12:12.990
mouth. Absolutely. AI is a tool. If you put it
00:12:12.990 --> 00:12:15.769
more than that, you're going to get hurt, right?
00:12:15.870 --> 00:12:23.250
But AI, one thing that AI cannot instill is emotion,
00:12:23.870 --> 00:12:27.570
right? So once you put that emotion into it,
00:12:27.570 --> 00:12:30.870
you can start out, but with AI and everything
00:12:30.870 --> 00:12:33.669
else, you can do the six or seven prompts to
00:12:33.669 --> 00:12:37.240
get it basically where you want it to be. But
00:12:37.240 --> 00:12:41.019
you have to put in your emotional, you have to
00:12:41.019 --> 00:12:44.679
put in your feeling because if they don't realize
00:12:44.679 --> 00:12:49.100
it's you, if they think it's a machine, then
00:12:49.100 --> 00:12:52.659
they turn you off. When I go around the country
00:12:52.659 --> 00:12:55.879
and I give talks about networking, communication,
00:12:56.220 --> 00:13:01.100
leadership, I have about one minute to get their
00:13:01.100 --> 00:13:05.250
attention. If I got their attention. I keep their
00:13:05.250 --> 00:13:09.610
attention throughout my talk, but if I lose them,
00:13:10.230 --> 00:13:13.049
I've lost them forever. And it'll take me 20
00:13:13.049 --> 00:13:16.070
minutes to try to get it back. So it all goes
00:13:16.070 --> 00:13:20.549
in, but I use AI as a tool and nothing more.
00:13:20.889 --> 00:13:24.690
And I invoke a little emotion from it. Okay.
00:13:24.769 --> 00:13:27.549
I didn't mean to take so much time. How does
00:13:27.549 --> 00:13:32.259
creating books, courses, frameworks. or other
00:13:32.259 --> 00:13:35.720
intellectual property, change the nature of your
00:13:35.720 --> 00:13:41.779
networking conversations. If two experts come
00:13:41.779 --> 00:13:46.600
together to discuss the news, the sports and
00:13:46.600 --> 00:13:51.500
the weather, the question becomes, how does that
00:13:51.500 --> 00:13:56.960
lead to a business relationship? My answer to
00:13:56.960 --> 00:14:01.919
that question is if you lead with what you've
00:14:01.919 --> 00:14:04.419
created, what you've packaged, and what you've
00:14:04.419 --> 00:14:08.639
published, then that gives you essentially a
00:14:08.639 --> 00:14:12.240
central point of focus that can turn into an
00:14:12.240 --> 00:14:15.379
affiliate relationship, a joint venture partnership.
00:14:15.580 --> 00:14:19.259
It can turn into a podcast episode. It can turn
00:14:19.259 --> 00:14:22.639
into a live speaking engagement. It can turn
00:14:22.639 --> 00:14:26.340
into a lead magnet that is shared with recipient
00:14:26.340 --> 00:14:30.490
B's network. And so When you start to package
00:14:30.490 --> 00:14:34.110
your expertise into books courses and frameworks
00:14:34.110 --> 00:14:38.730
It gives a context to any relationship that you
00:14:38.730 --> 00:14:42.730
may encounter so you may attend joint venture
00:14:42.730 --> 00:14:46.889
conference and Your topic or your lead magnet
00:14:46.889 --> 00:14:49.649
or your book or your workshop or your methodology?
00:14:50.210 --> 00:14:52.509
May not be a fit for the person you're speaking
00:14:52.509 --> 00:14:56.909
to directly, but if you're clear about the promise
00:14:56.909 --> 00:15:01.750
of said deliverable, then what that person will
00:15:01.750 --> 00:15:05.710
begin to do is ask themselves, who is the ideal
00:15:05.710 --> 00:15:08.330
resource that I can connect this individual with?
00:15:08.370 --> 00:15:12.090
Because I see that it has value. And so from
00:15:12.090 --> 00:15:15.789
a networking context, especially if you want
00:15:15.789 --> 00:15:19.370
greater depth in your relationships, you want
00:15:19.370 --> 00:15:22.509
to build business around intellectual property
00:15:22.509 --> 00:15:25.789
because it gives leverage. So if you and I, Michael,
00:15:25.809 --> 00:15:29.370
have a conversation at an event, that conversation
00:15:29.370 --> 00:15:32.470
is only limited to that face -to -face encounter.
00:15:32.870 --> 00:15:39.009
But if you say, I have a 60 minute video of my
00:15:39.009 --> 00:15:41.710
latest keynote presentation or my signature keynote
00:15:41.710 --> 00:15:44.830
presentation, would you share it with your audience
00:15:44.830 --> 00:15:48.350
of professionals who are looking to become entrepreneurs?
00:15:48.700 --> 00:15:52.259
then I have something that I have leveraged that
00:15:52.259 --> 00:15:56.000
I can take home with me and begin to share this
00:15:56.000 --> 00:15:58.779
one video that you may have recorded one time
00:15:58.779 --> 00:16:03.000
at a given event. And I can share it with my
00:16:03.000 --> 00:16:05.580
audience. I can share it with my podcast. I can
00:16:05.580 --> 00:16:08.679
share with each live audience that I speak in
00:16:08.679 --> 00:16:11.460
front of. So what we start to look at is the
00:16:11.460 --> 00:16:14.799
one to many relationship that will benefit each
00:16:14.799 --> 00:16:17.179
person that you network with. So package what
00:16:17.179 --> 00:16:20.279
you know and it gives multiple opportunities
00:16:20.279 --> 00:16:24.179
for various groups of people to support your
00:16:24.179 --> 00:16:29.440
networking endeavors. Absolutely and when I speak
00:16:29.440 --> 00:16:33.139
with somebody who either doesn't know me or what
00:16:33.139 --> 00:16:36.039
I did I usually take one of my books that I've
00:16:36.039 --> 00:16:38.840
written and I give it to them almost as a business
00:16:38.840 --> 00:16:41.539
card. I say do you want to know more about me
00:16:41.539 --> 00:16:45.750
or read this and then I'll talk to you. a little
00:16:45.750 --> 00:16:48.529
bit like that. But so, yeah, I spent a lot of
00:16:48.529 --> 00:16:52.269
time building up my intellectual property. You
00:16:52.269 --> 00:16:54.429
go to my website, you'll see everything and blah,
00:16:54.470 --> 00:16:58.309
blah, blah. But it's so true. And I've really
00:16:58.309 --> 00:17:01.950
I've done so much work on the golf course where
00:17:01.950 --> 00:17:05.089
because I'm not a good golfer. Let me start out
00:17:05.089 --> 00:17:08.829
right now. Right. But the other person who I
00:17:08.829 --> 00:17:13.430
know, who I'm trying to gain as a client. knows
00:17:13.430 --> 00:17:16.609
that he tries to help me a little bit. And then
00:17:16.609 --> 00:17:19.529
I kind of work business into it. And then I'll
00:17:19.529 --> 00:17:22.430
see if he bites. If he doesn't bite, then I let
00:17:22.430 --> 00:17:25.250
it go, right? But if he does, then we'll have
00:17:25.250 --> 00:17:27.509
a stronger conversation. But that's just one
00:17:27.509 --> 00:17:31.170
of my ways of doing it. All right. You've spoken
00:17:31.170 --> 00:17:34.750
about building a seven figure professional network.
00:17:35.849 --> 00:17:39.259
What personal... qualities attract the kind of
00:17:39.259 --> 00:17:42.559
relationships that lead to long -term opportunity
00:17:42.559 --> 00:17:47.039
rather than short -term transactions. We talk
00:17:47.039 --> 00:17:56.900
about deconstructing the skeleton of the seven
00:17:56.900 --> 00:18:01.200
figure professional network. There are a few
00:18:01.200 --> 00:18:04.799
clues that lead to that level of success. And
00:18:04.799 --> 00:18:11.220
so I would say the first attribute would be clarity
00:18:11.220 --> 00:18:17.059
of message. So the seven figure networker or
00:18:17.059 --> 00:18:19.819
the owner of the seven figure network is very
00:18:19.819 --> 00:18:23.960
clear about who they help, why they help them,
00:18:23.960 --> 00:18:27.019
and how they are able to help them. And they're
00:18:27.019 --> 00:18:31.880
able to communicate this in a way that qualifies
00:18:31.880 --> 00:18:35.180
and disqualifies. And so people know exactly
00:18:35.579 --> 00:18:38.700
where that individual stands from the moment
00:18:38.700 --> 00:18:42.259
that they discuss what they're able to deliver.
00:18:42.480 --> 00:18:48.059
Secondly, when it comes to the seven figure networker
00:18:48.059 --> 00:18:52.440
or the seven figure network owner, they also
00:18:52.440 --> 00:18:55.160
and I'm going to go in a different direction
00:18:55.160 --> 00:18:58.299
to cover some areas that people may not consider
00:18:58.299 --> 00:19:03.579
when it comes to that message. They have leverage
00:19:03.579 --> 00:19:08.029
behind. what their mission and message is. Meaning
00:19:08.029 --> 00:19:11.930
their mission and message is packaged in a way
00:19:11.930 --> 00:19:15.690
that allows for others to consume it outside
00:19:15.690 --> 00:19:19.950
of their physical presence. So think of, for
00:19:19.950 --> 00:19:22.869
those of you tuning in, think about how many
00:19:22.869 --> 00:19:26.470
amazing people that you meet in person who are
00:19:26.470 --> 00:19:28.970
able to give you exactly what they bring to the
00:19:28.970 --> 00:19:32.289
table. But the moment they leave, you have nothing
00:19:32.289 --> 00:19:36.789
else to work with. And so They're able to send
00:19:36.789 --> 00:19:39.190
someone that they give their mission and message
00:19:39.190 --> 00:19:42.690
to a call to action To learn more about what
00:19:42.690 --> 00:19:45.630
they bring to the tables So that may be a lead
00:19:45.630 --> 00:19:49.349
magnet in many cases it is but is always a signature
00:19:49.349 --> 00:19:53.910
program a signature course or a higher form of
00:19:53.910 --> 00:19:56.769
authority which would be a published book and
00:19:56.769 --> 00:20:02.279
so the owner of the seven figure network also
00:20:02.279 --> 00:20:05.799
has some form of community. So they have like
00:20:05.799 --> 00:20:09.640
-minded people who are, who share in the same
00:20:09.640 --> 00:20:12.940
growth trajectory, similar message, mission,
00:20:13.279 --> 00:20:16.099
or message that they bring to the table or the
00:20:16.099 --> 00:20:18.720
way that they wish to change the world. And so
00:20:19.150 --> 00:20:23.069
They have a group of people that bring referrals
00:20:23.069 --> 00:20:26.150
to the table that are affiliate partners and
00:20:26.150 --> 00:20:30.369
are able to grow alongside of said offer. So
00:20:30.369 --> 00:20:35.269
when it comes to some soft skills that the seven
00:20:35.269 --> 00:20:40.369
figure network owner possesses, they are quick
00:20:40.369 --> 00:20:46.410
to say yes and no. Meaning if there's an opportunity
00:20:46.410 --> 00:20:50.539
on the table that they believe will further enhance
00:20:50.539 --> 00:20:53.380
or strengthen their current position, then they
00:20:53.380 --> 00:20:56.640
move forward on that opportunity without question
00:20:56.640 --> 00:21:01.299
or delay. And secondly, in terms of no, if it's
00:21:01.299 --> 00:21:04.720
an opportunity that does not benefit them or
00:21:04.720 --> 00:21:08.200
will be a time waster in some way, they do not
00:21:08.200 --> 00:21:11.519
worry about ruffling feathers or offending others
00:21:11.519 --> 00:21:14.640
if an opportunity is not a good fit for them.
00:21:14.640 --> 00:21:19.940
So I would say those would be some core attributes
00:21:19.940 --> 00:21:24.140
and traits of the individuals that not only with
00:21:24.140 --> 00:21:27.579
myself or with people I've come across in the
00:21:27.579 --> 00:21:32.380
great work that I do that operate at a seven
00:21:32.380 --> 00:21:35.500
figure level in terms of networking opportunities,
00:21:35.859 --> 00:21:39.720
partnerships and revenue that can come from it.
00:21:40.160 --> 00:21:43.680
Absolutely. Absolutely. Again, there are so many
00:21:43.680 --> 00:21:46.779
points you brought up that we don't have time
00:21:46.779 --> 00:21:49.920
to go into it, but you were spot on with everything
00:21:49.920 --> 00:21:53.579
that you were saying. When someone is focused
00:21:53.579 --> 00:22:01.339
solely on monetizing their expertise, what important
00:22:01.339 --> 00:22:05.420
purpose of intellectual property are they likely
00:22:05.420 --> 00:22:10.980
to overlook? The professional is on the path
00:22:10.980 --> 00:22:14.380
of monetization, meaning they've come to the
00:22:14.380 --> 00:22:18.599
point in their journey where this has to make
00:22:18.599 --> 00:22:21.380
financial sense. I'm investing time, energy,
00:22:21.380 --> 00:22:26.299
and effort, and it has to equate to some form
00:22:26.299 --> 00:22:31.700
of monetary compensation. What they often overlook
00:22:31.700 --> 00:22:39.650
is the value of said offer. to the marketplace.
00:22:40.509 --> 00:22:44.549
When I ask professionals, and for those of you
00:22:44.549 --> 00:22:48.730
who are tuning in to this episode, when I ask
00:22:48.730 --> 00:22:53.069
you, where did you learn about pricing your products
00:22:53.069 --> 00:22:56.750
and services? You will get a wide range of answers
00:22:56.750 --> 00:22:59.890
because there's no industry standard. And so
00:22:59.890 --> 00:23:05.509
what people often do is when they think of pricing
00:23:05.509 --> 00:23:10.349
their services, the price to not offend or disqualify
00:23:10.349 --> 00:23:14.869
themselves from the sale. And so if someone,
00:23:15.750 --> 00:23:18.250
there are many professionals who would rather
00:23:18.250 --> 00:23:24.269
charge $97, for example, instead of the $49 .97
00:23:24.269 --> 00:23:29.069
that would help them to make ends meet. would
00:23:29.069 --> 00:23:33.029
help them to focus on service delivery and provide
00:23:33.029 --> 00:23:36.529
the level of service that the offer dictates
00:23:36.529 --> 00:23:40.349
in order to be, let's say a top notch offer.
00:23:40.630 --> 00:23:44.769
And so pricing tends to be one of the key areas.
00:23:45.049 --> 00:23:48.369
that they overlook and disqualify themselves
00:23:48.369 --> 00:23:51.450
from making a solid living. And that's why many
00:23:51.450 --> 00:23:54.250
coaches struggle. That's why many speakers struggle.
00:23:54.470 --> 00:23:57.670
And that's why many networkers especially go
00:23:57.670 --> 00:24:01.690
to many networking events. And there's no payoff
00:24:01.690 --> 00:24:05.690
for this activity because they're afraid to ask
00:24:05.690 --> 00:24:07.910
for the sale. And when they're asking for the
00:24:07.910 --> 00:24:11.809
sale, they don't do the necessary due diligence
00:24:11.809 --> 00:24:15.589
that it takes to understand what their offer
00:24:15.589 --> 00:24:19.630
encompasses, the full scale of value or scope
00:24:19.630 --> 00:24:24.089
of value that their offer provides, and what
00:24:24.089 --> 00:24:28.130
numbers would help them to make a solid living
00:24:28.130 --> 00:24:33.190
at delivering said service. Yeah, they tend to
00:24:33.190 --> 00:24:36.130
take the easy way out. They're, they're lazy.
00:24:36.670 --> 00:24:39.390
They don't want to, they do the beginning and
00:24:39.390 --> 00:24:42.819
they do the end. everything that encompasses
00:24:42.819 --> 00:24:46.640
in the middle, they don't want to do. And that's
00:24:46.640 --> 00:24:49.660
the tough work. That's the tough stuff. So if
00:24:49.660 --> 00:24:53.839
you want to truly go out there and network, and
00:24:53.839 --> 00:24:56.480
I always say, if you're going to network, go
00:24:56.480 --> 00:24:59.039
out there with a servant's heart. Go out there
00:24:59.039 --> 00:25:01.700
and see what you can do for others before what
00:25:01.700 --> 00:25:04.819
they can do for you. And that generally leads
00:25:04.819 --> 00:25:08.380
into you listening more. About their problem
00:25:08.380 --> 00:25:11.500
how you can solve their problem without you thinking
00:25:11.500 --> 00:25:14.079
of the next thing that you want to say you're
00:25:14.079 --> 00:25:16.900
thinking about that person and her problem, but
00:25:16.900 --> 00:25:20.640
that goes along with the Feelings and the information
00:25:20.640 --> 00:25:24.180
that most people don't want to do They just want
00:25:24.180 --> 00:25:25.720
to jump to the end. You want to buy this for
00:25:25.720 --> 00:25:27.980
me or you want to buy the service? Okay, great
00:25:27.980 --> 00:25:31.680
If not, I'll move on but you're missing everything
00:25:31.680 --> 00:25:35.640
about networking. All right What's the difference
00:25:35.640 --> 00:25:38.920
between? building a personal brand that gets
00:25:38.920 --> 00:25:42.619
attention and building a reputation that earns
00:25:42.619 --> 00:25:48.880
trust for decades. Wow. The core difference.
00:25:49.000 --> 00:25:53.599
And let's just talk on the topic of reputation
00:25:53.599 --> 00:25:57.400
that builds trust for decades. I did this by
00:25:57.400 --> 00:26:01.160
accident with my first business, which has been
00:26:01.160 --> 00:26:07.940
around for 22 years. 23 years actually. And so
00:26:07.940 --> 00:26:11.599
first of all you mentioned servant's heart. And
00:26:11.599 --> 00:26:15.119
so outside of the sale itself, the transaction
00:26:15.119 --> 00:26:19.420
of goods and services, you need to have a greater
00:26:19.420 --> 00:26:24.519
mission for what you are doing. One way that
00:26:24.519 --> 00:26:27.059
has worked really well for me, I did not see
00:26:27.059 --> 00:26:30.720
it at the beginning, but was to approach with
00:26:30.720 --> 00:26:34.759
a strategic philanthropy perspective, meaning
00:26:34.759 --> 00:26:39.940
whenever I earn a dollar, I look to reinvest
00:26:39.940 --> 00:26:44.000
that dollar into a cause that I believe in and
00:26:44.000 --> 00:26:47.539
support or a portion of said dollar. And so I
00:26:47.539 --> 00:26:51.019
started with reinvesting into underperforming
00:26:51.019 --> 00:26:55.220
classrooms. There are many teachers that provide
00:26:55.220 --> 00:26:58.000
their own school supplies out of their own pocket
00:26:58.000 --> 00:27:02.099
for students that are struggling. And so I partner
00:27:02.099 --> 00:27:06.220
with nonprofit organizations to invest in those
00:27:06.220 --> 00:27:10.099
classrooms and have done so since, oh my goodness,
00:27:11.039 --> 00:27:15.319
2012. So the first thing is a servant's heart
00:27:15.319 --> 00:27:19.559
finding the mission outside of the money in order
00:27:19.559 --> 00:27:23.339
to continue. to build that engine that allows
00:27:23.339 --> 00:27:26.779
for people to invest and feel good investing
00:27:26.779 --> 00:27:30.660
in your services in order to do. Secondly, is
00:27:30.660 --> 00:27:33.940
to treat your word and your follow through as
00:27:33.940 --> 00:27:39.279
a contract, meaning if you have an intention
00:27:39.279 --> 00:27:43.279
to deliver a service or deliver a partnership,
00:27:44.099 --> 00:27:47.450
make it your best effort in order to follow through.
00:27:47.609 --> 00:27:51.349
And this does not mean to take an oath of perfection.
00:27:51.769 --> 00:27:54.269
Things will happen. Things will run late. Things
00:27:54.269 --> 00:27:57.009
will need to be rescheduled. But what I found
00:27:57.009 --> 00:28:00.009
is if you know you're going to be late with said
00:28:00.009 --> 00:28:03.809
delivery, if you communicate this as early as
00:28:03.809 --> 00:28:07.190
possible, then it actually makes you look as
00:28:07.190 --> 00:28:10.809
if you care for people's time and that you can
00:28:10.809 --> 00:28:13.150
almost see the future. If you let someone know
00:28:13.150 --> 00:28:15.589
three minutes before that you're going to be
00:28:15.589 --> 00:28:18.549
late versus two days. Okay. I'm going based on
00:28:18.549 --> 00:28:21.470
my schedule. I'm going to be an hour late two
00:28:21.470 --> 00:28:24.609
days before it happens. Then it allows for people
00:28:24.609 --> 00:28:27.930
to reschedule on their own time and opportunity
00:28:27.930 --> 00:28:30.670
costs that is lost by trying to meet with you.
00:28:30.970 --> 00:28:33.089
They can refill that with another opportunity.
00:28:33.329 --> 00:28:37.190
Next, you have to have systems that allow for
00:28:37.190 --> 00:28:41.509
you to build relationships. So CRM systems are
00:28:41.509 --> 00:28:46.069
great. Email lists are excellent. and having
00:28:46.069 --> 00:28:49.529
some form of communication that is based around
00:28:49.529 --> 00:28:53.410
a person's life cycle, meaning I love to collect
00:28:53.410 --> 00:28:57.450
marriage anniversaries, birthdays, and those
00:28:57.450 --> 00:29:01.789
are great ways that I'm able to follow up with
00:29:01.789 --> 00:29:06.210
people in my network and give gifts and more
00:29:06.210 --> 00:29:09.660
or less build a relationship. outside of service
00:29:09.660 --> 00:29:12.900
delivery that helps to strengthen the human element
00:29:12.900 --> 00:29:16.640
and connection that we all need in order to build
00:29:16.640 --> 00:29:20.440
that reputation. And finally, you need to publish
00:29:20.440 --> 00:29:23.920
your ideas and expertise, meaning you can be
00:29:23.920 --> 00:29:26.779
a great person. You can be a nice person. You
00:29:26.779 --> 00:29:29.380
can be a charitable person. But if you're not
00:29:29.380 --> 00:29:32.680
known for something that you're passionate about.
00:29:32.880 --> 00:29:36.460
then you will be lumped in the group of other
00:29:36.460 --> 00:29:39.380
nice and charitable people. So you have to step
00:29:39.380 --> 00:29:41.859
to the forefront and say, I am the expert. I
00:29:41.859 --> 00:29:46.319
am the founder. I am the owner of said intellectual
00:29:46.319 --> 00:29:50.720
property or book or course or community so that
00:29:50.720 --> 00:29:54.819
you give people something to attribute your skills
00:29:54.819 --> 00:30:00.720
and your mission and mastery towards. Absolutely
00:30:00.720 --> 00:30:05.759
and of the three things that you had said really
00:30:05.759 --> 00:30:08.440
the one that that stuck out in my mind because
00:30:08.440 --> 00:30:14.000
I talk about this is really is do what you promise
00:30:14.000 --> 00:30:17.640
and if you just follow through with what you
00:30:17.640 --> 00:30:21.940
promised in a timely fashion then you've already
00:30:21.940 --> 00:30:25.480
built the trust three -quarters of the way because
00:30:25.480 --> 00:30:30.049
so many people don't do what they say in the
00:30:30.049 --> 00:30:33.170
time that they said that they would do it and
00:30:33.170 --> 00:30:37.029
then you follow up if you follow up strategically
00:30:37.029 --> 00:30:41.650
and you follow up consistently then you're showing
00:30:41.650 --> 00:30:45.569
that person that they earned your respect right
00:30:45.569 --> 00:30:49.390
and you just and so that goes such a long way
00:30:49.390 --> 00:30:54.630
okay so let's bring this full circle and If a
00:30:54.630 --> 00:30:58.829
listener wanted to create a body of work that
00:30:58.829 --> 00:31:01.309
increased both their income and their impact
00:31:01.309 --> 00:31:04.789
over the next 10 years, where would you encourage
00:31:04.789 --> 00:31:14.490
them to begin and why? If I have a 10 year plan
00:31:14.490 --> 00:31:20.970
to build a legacy through my intellectual property,
00:31:21.210 --> 00:31:26.670
creations of the mind, I would start with my
00:31:26.670 --> 00:31:32.650
signature, meaning what impact do I wish to change
00:31:32.650 --> 00:31:39.650
the world with and what method am I most comfortable
00:31:39.650 --> 00:31:45.390
with delivering said message. And so if you are
00:31:45.390 --> 00:31:48.470
a great speaker and you enjoy conversations,
00:31:49.250 --> 00:31:53.720
then podcasting may be the method to deliver
00:31:53.720 --> 00:31:57.839
that signature to the world. If you are a great
00:31:57.839 --> 00:32:01.700
writer, then yes, publishing a book. It is more
00:32:01.700 --> 00:32:08.220
important to focus on the delivery method in
00:32:08.220 --> 00:32:12.160
what you want to do over that next 10 years than
00:32:12.160 --> 00:32:15.819
it is to just follow a trend. Publishing books
00:32:15.819 --> 00:32:19.890
may be like pulling teeth for some people. And
00:32:19.890 --> 00:32:24.950
so although it gives you the authority that being
00:32:24.950 --> 00:32:29.450
a published author would deliver, you may also
00:32:29.450 --> 00:32:32.970
run into a roadblock where you fizzle out and
00:32:32.970 --> 00:32:36.269
don't continue on the path of marketing said
00:32:36.269 --> 00:32:39.109
book because you didn't enjoy the experience
00:32:39.109 --> 00:32:42.910
of writing it. And so if you find the delivery
00:32:42.910 --> 00:32:46.960
method that resonates highest with you, then
00:32:46.960 --> 00:32:51.039
the higher likelihood that you're going to not
00:32:51.039 --> 00:32:55.539
only start, but also continue and begin to flourish
00:32:55.539 --> 00:32:59.099
and master that particular delivery method. Next,
00:32:59.160 --> 00:33:04.059
I will focus on consistency. And so my number
00:33:04.059 --> 00:33:09.619
one law of online authority and success is to
00:33:09.619 --> 00:33:14.559
what you build, you must maintain. And so we
00:33:14.559 --> 00:33:19.529
all get the inspiration to start but those who
00:33:19.529 --> 00:33:22.490
stay the course and publish based on a schedule
00:33:22.490 --> 00:33:26.009
that works for them you may have young children
00:33:26.009 --> 00:33:29.210
for those of you tuning in you may have other
00:33:29.210 --> 00:33:33.630
priorities you may have a long commute but there
00:33:33.630 --> 00:33:37.890
is no contract or there's no standard on how
00:33:37.890 --> 00:33:41.309
often you need to publish but you need to show
00:33:41.309 --> 00:33:44.490
up and win the visibility battle with your audience.
00:33:44.710 --> 00:33:47.170
Your audience right now, your biggest competition
00:33:47.170 --> 00:33:50.589
is not another speaker, not another coach, not
00:33:50.589 --> 00:33:53.069
another entrepreneur, professional or networker.
00:33:53.769 --> 00:33:59.829
Your biggest competition is the distraction of
00:33:59.829 --> 00:34:03.009
your ideal audience. They are on every single
00:34:03.009 --> 00:34:05.750
app. There's 20 different apps on your phone
00:34:05.750 --> 00:34:09.250
and they're scrolling away. And so you're in
00:34:09.250 --> 00:34:12.530
a battle against that. And so when you're able
00:34:12.530 --> 00:34:16.449
to stay visible using a method that you prefer,
00:34:16.889 --> 00:34:20.789
then that will give you an edge. So think about
00:34:20.789 --> 00:34:24.690
the marketplaces next that will give you the
00:34:24.690 --> 00:34:27.250
greatest search engine credibility and authority.
00:34:27.369 --> 00:34:32.369
For example, if you are going to go down the
00:34:32.369 --> 00:34:35.650
path of podcasting, then you have marketplaces
00:34:35.650 --> 00:34:39.489
such as Apple Podcasts, you have Spotify, and
00:34:39.489 --> 00:34:44.070
these marketplaces are experts at gaining attention
00:34:44.070 --> 00:34:48.170
and keeping it. And so you want to build a great
00:34:48.170 --> 00:34:51.150
audience or visibility within those marketplaces.
00:34:51.210 --> 00:34:54.519
If you're an author, then yes. Kindle desktop
00:34:54.519 --> 00:34:58.260
publishing and Amazon is a great place to build
00:34:58.260 --> 00:35:02.119
set reputation. So you want to think of your
00:35:02.119 --> 00:35:06.159
signature. You want to think of the delivery
00:35:06.159 --> 00:35:10.360
method, and you also want to think of the marketplaces
00:35:10.360 --> 00:35:13.360
that you want to show up. And finally, I would
00:35:13.360 --> 00:35:17.639
recommend to create a line of communication that
00:35:17.639 --> 00:35:22.429
you own, meaning social media. as great as it
00:35:22.429 --> 00:35:27.630
may be and as easy and inexpensive as it can
00:35:27.630 --> 00:35:32.030
be to deliver your message. It is not a platform
00:35:32.030 --> 00:35:37.210
that you own, meaning algorithms change. You
00:35:37.210 --> 00:35:41.369
can be say copyright strike in or your account
00:35:41.369 --> 00:35:43.949
can be deleted and you may not even know why.
00:35:44.269 --> 00:35:47.630
But if you build on channels that you have ownership
00:35:47.630 --> 00:35:52.730
of and you direct people to those platforms to
00:35:52.730 --> 00:35:55.869
as a subscriber, as a client, so on and so forth,
00:35:55.869 --> 00:35:58.610
so that you can continue the conversation. This
00:35:58.610 --> 00:36:02.750
gives you the ownership of your list, and also
00:36:02.750 --> 00:36:08.929
it gives you a long -form platform to continue
00:36:08.929 --> 00:36:12.349
with conversations over the duration of that
00:36:12.349 --> 00:36:18.769
10 years. Outstanding. Everything you spoke about
00:36:19.019 --> 00:36:22.420
was so true. And I'm thinking in my head of the
00:36:22.420 --> 00:36:28.239
journey that I took to get where I am. And podcasting
00:36:28.239 --> 00:36:32.039
is one section. Being a keynote speaker is another
00:36:32.039 --> 00:36:34.780
section. Doing the books and everything else,
00:36:34.840 --> 00:36:38.219
those are other ways of getting to where I got.
00:36:38.619 --> 00:36:41.880
But you said consistency, and that was what stuck
00:36:41.880 --> 00:36:45.440
out in my head. But you also, you forgot to mention
00:36:45.440 --> 00:36:50.750
the other side of that coin is persistence. Consistency
00:36:50.750 --> 00:36:54.769
and persistence and if you remain true to yourself
00:36:54.769 --> 00:37:00.590
if you remain consistent and persistent to your
00:37:00.590 --> 00:37:04.510
Following then you can't fail. You can't fail
00:37:04.510 --> 00:37:06.670
unless of course something happens, but that's
00:37:06.670 --> 00:37:10.409
beside the point. Okay Shadi You were a fantastic
00:37:10.409 --> 00:37:14.710
guest. You gave me you gave us you gave my listeners
00:37:14.710 --> 00:37:19.079
a world of knowledge But if they want to find
00:37:19.079 --> 00:37:21.719
out something more, how can they get hold of
00:37:21.719 --> 00:37:27.940
you? First of all, your audience deserves the
00:37:27.940 --> 00:37:31.739
best, Michael. And so I hope it was my intent
00:37:31.739 --> 00:37:35.539
that the topics that we raised and discussed
00:37:35.539 --> 00:37:38.840
and dissected not only provide value for the
00:37:38.840 --> 00:37:41.000
audience today, but they can come back and press
00:37:41.000 --> 00:37:44.579
play once again. and gain additional value. If
00:37:44.579 --> 00:37:47.500
you are just a listener, you need to become a
00:37:47.500 --> 00:37:50.760
subscriber of this great podcast. And for those
00:37:50.760 --> 00:37:58.440
of you who want to take the next step of utilizing
00:37:58.440 --> 00:38:03.039
your expertise and converting it into authority,
00:38:03.920 --> 00:38:08.510
influence. and oh yes income then the execution
00:38:08.510 --> 00:38:12.550
plan .com is your next step now in addition to
00:38:12.550 --> 00:38:16.130
the guided checklist that will take you from
00:38:16.130 --> 00:38:21.190
expert professional person with credibility into
00:38:21.190 --> 00:38:24.570
packaging into a format that will benefit you
00:38:24.570 --> 00:38:27.250
you also receive rock solid support so if you
00:38:27.250 --> 00:38:32.610
get stuck along the way in your persistence in
00:38:32.780 --> 00:38:37.280
turns into lack of consistent activity. You can
00:38:37.280 --> 00:38:40.480
send an email to support and a team member, or
00:38:40.480 --> 00:38:43.739
I'll read all support questions that come in.
00:38:43.840 --> 00:38:47.880
