The San Diego Padres are coming home after one hell of a road trip.
San Diego hammered the Colorado Rockies 9-2, pounding out 15 hits and exploding for seven runs in the 2nd inning to take three of four at Coors Field and finish its seven-game trip through San Francisco and Colorado 6-1.
Xander Bogaerts powered the attack with three hits, including a 441-foot home run and an RBI triple. Dustin Harris went 3-for-5 with three RBIs, Samad Taylor had two hits, a walk, two runs and an RBI, Ty France collected three hits, and Jackson Merrill continued his scorching September with a two-run triple. Bogaerts' homer left the bat at 108.3 mph.
Michael King settled down after Colorado scored in the 1st and delivered 6 innings, 7 hits, 2 earned runs, 2 walks and 6 strikeouts, improving to 12-9. Yuki Matsui and Griffin Canning followed with three scoreless innings.
GRIES breaks down the seven-run Turning Point, Bogaerts' huge afternoon, Harris and Taylor's impact, King's strong start, another quiet night for Colorado's offense, the 6-1 road trip and what it all means with just NINE games remaining in the Padres' playoff push.
