00:00:51
Speaker 1: No case. It's too big or too small. So is being described as edgy a good thing, Chad?
00:01:01
Speaker 2: I would think so. Yeah. I would think that's a pretty good thing.
00:01:05
Speaker 1: I mean, if you weren't edgy before. I wouldn't want to be on edge. But edgy? Is that different?
00:01:12
Speaker 2: So having an edge to me is more of a compliment than you seem edgy. Because edgy almost seems anxious.
00:01:22
Speaker 1: Yes. Nervous.
00:01:23
Speaker 2: Right?
00:01:23
Speaker 1: Right.
00:01:24
Speaker 2: I think what Steve Sarkeesian is saying when he says the following is a compliment. Okay. He said, I think that somebody texted me today that we lost the aw shucks kid, you know, and we've created something else.
00:01:37
Speaker 1: I don't know if we've lost him.
00:01:39
Speaker 2: We created this. We did all of us, y'all included, meet the whole thing, right? Everybody on ESPN, we've created this. That is what Steve Sarkeesian said. says quarterback Arch Manning. That's why he describes him as edgy. Now, when I hear ESPN, the media, it goes back to the Holly Rowe thing that he got criticized for because he's been a very different interview ever since then. He's been very quiet, very monosyllabic. He doesn't have a lot of personality, not a lot of smiles when he's talking. So yeah, I think the media coverage of Arch Manning has made him edgy. I take that as both edgy in that I've got a chip on my shoulder and I'm pissed off all the time.
00:02:22
Speaker 1: And edgy as he's got a little bit more of an edge.
00:02:25
Speaker 2: Remember the end of the Ohio State game when he was caught on camera on the sideline saying, I'm just about to say, I'll bleep it and just go out there and play and let it rip. And that's when the comeback started for Texas. I needed just to say, screw it and go play. Where's that Arch Manning been? Well, I thought he was very cautious against Tennessee. In that game. To the point of getting sacked probably more than he needed to because he was, like Faison Brandon, not really seeing things great and willing to rip the ball. They need that Arch Manning, I think, in this game to win. They need him edgy. They need him also playing with an edge if they're going to go beat Ole Miss.
00:03:04
Speaker 1: For longer than that quarter, right? And I would say this, too. Sarkeesian has created this because of the first-team reps for the backup. That would also put me on edge a little bit because you haven't seen this, right? Yeah. Sarkeesian's got to get this right. He's the quarterback whisperer. The Manning family chose him as the, you know, this is where they're going. You've got the roster around him. You know, it's got to be way better than what we've seen. The development factor. He sat two years. You know, like where's the– maybe he's just not good, but I refuse to believe that. I do too.
00:03:44
Speaker 2: And we've also seen moments of him being good.
00:03:47
Speaker 1: Yes, exactly.
00:03:48
Speaker 2: He was good at the end of last season. He was good against Michigan in that bowl game. We've seen the good Arch Manning at times. And it is absolutely Steve Sarkeesian's job to find the right buttons to push. He is a quarterback guy. He's an offensive guy. Find the right buttons to push with him. But also, it is his job to not worry about the future. You've got to worry about the here and now.
00:04:10
Speaker 1: Exactly.
00:04:11
Speaker 2: You can't worry about what if I bench Arch and What is the legendary Manning dynasty and family going to think of me if I make this move? And what does it mean for next year and the other quarterback I'm recruiting? You can't think about those things now if you're a head coach in college football.
00:04:26
Speaker 1: Why?
00:04:27
Speaker 2: Because it's now that matters. Josh Heupel with Faison Brandon and George McIntyre. I guarantee you Faison Brandon wants to start now. I don't know why Josh Heupel won't just say George McIntyre is the starter when everyone knows he's getting all the first team reps. and he's going to be the starter. That's a weird move to me that he continues to act like, I don't know who I'm going to start yet, when everybody knows he knows exactly who he's.
00:04:48
Speaker 1: Going to start.
00:04:49
Speaker 2: But Josh Heupel can't worry about, well, what if Faison Brandon transfers after one year because he's not playing? What if I make George McIntyre mad if I go back to Faison Brandon when he's struggling? In today's college football, you just go and adjust. If both guys leave, does the Tennessee want that to happen?
00:05:09
Speaker 1: No.
00:05:09
Speaker 2: But guess what you do? You've got a lot of quarterback money now to go spend on somebody else. You're going to be able to go replace him with some other high-priced quarterback. You just replace the guy that wants to leave.
00:05:19
Speaker 1: You know what you do? You go play in the college football playoff is what you do.
00:05:22
Speaker 2: That's what you do. And every decision you make should be to try to do that, to accomplish that goal.
00:05:27
Speaker 1: Coming up, Troy Aikman and Joe Buck going at it. Nearly to blows. Nearly fisticuffs. We know who would win that battle.
00:05:36
Speaker 2: Put up your dukes, said Joe Buck.
00:05:39
Speaker 1: We could take this outside like men.
00:05:40
Speaker 2: Yep.
00:05:41
Speaker 1: That's straight ahead, Harold Hunt DeWittrow. Chad, good morning to you. Good morning. Once again, we've got.
00:05:46
Speaker 2: Our Crockett coffee here. Cheers to Crockett coffee to you. I feel like Troy Aikman and Joe Buck could use a nice little cheers of Crockett coffee to each other at this point. How about the vitriol here with Aikman and Buck nearly coming to blows prior to one of these games because Aikman says that he was stabbed in the back. saying that for weeks this past summer, when Joe Buck was extended his contract, there's reporting that Aikman was left out in the dark. You know, he was kept in the dark on this from ESPN and from Joe Buck, and that ESPN even during negotiations came to, I guess, alluded to the fact that, yeah, you're back. The $ 100 million contract is what Joe Buck signed for for Monday Night Football. You're back, but we may not have Aikman with you the entire time. And he signed it, didn't tell Aikman about it. So I'm team Aikman here all the way. First off, Troy Aikman would have beat the hell out of Joe Buck if this thing came to blows. The fact that this nearly came to blows, according to witnesses I'm thinking about, that would not have ended well for Joe Buck. It was Buck who kind of went at him, who blew up on him, right? That's what I believe. Well, I think Buck, like, hey, are we going to talk about this or not? Kind of confronted him with attention in the booth. and brought it up, and then Aikman proceeded to go off. But if that thing would have gotten physical, that would not have ended well for Joe Buck.
00:07:08
Speaker 1: They're still calling games together right now.
00:07:10
Speaker 2: Troy Aikman is a physically intimidating dude. He's in great shape. He does not seem like someone to be effed with. Anytime I've seen him talk about anything, in every documentary I've seen on the Cowboys or anything else, he is a serious guy that I would not want to offend. So that would not have gone well for Joe Buck. Also... they've been together for 30 years, 20, 30 years as a broadcast team.
00:07:37
Speaker 1: Wow.
00:07:38
Speaker 2: You don't tell that guy that, Hey, I've been offered a contract extension. I think I'm going to sign it at any point. Like, do you actually listen to ESPN bosses? You're like, Hey, we gotta, we gotta keep this a secret from Troy. We're going to give you an extension, but not him. We've been in a similar situation like this, where we were offered something that our co-host wasn't from our company. We were up front with our co-host at the time and said, No, actually, our contract offer was this, and it was for this long, and then we decided to make a decision collectively about what to do next based off that information.
00:08:10
Speaker 1: And you're right.
00:08:11
Speaker 2: The fact that Joe Buck would hide this is every account that he didn't tell him that he signed, he didn't tell him what the offer was, is crazy. Yep.
00:08:20
Speaker 1: That means that there was vitriol prior to this blowup, prior to Buck doing this, signing the contract. with ESPN without Aikman. Now, it was Aikman who signed prior to Joe Buck back in 2022 when they took over Monday Night Football. But Chad, you're right. They've been together 25 years. That is the new broadcast duo NFL historic record for a broadcast team surpassing Pat Summerall and John Madden. That blows my mind that they've been together longer than Pat Summerall and Joe Madden.
00:08:54
Speaker 2: Yeah, and John Madden.
00:08:56
Speaker 1: Oh, John Madden, sorry.
00:08:59
Speaker 2: Joe Buck, it's all the Joes and Johns mixed together. But yeah, no, it's crazy. And again, I am team Troy Aikman on this. Joe Buck should have told him what was going on. That's what you do as a friend and a professional is, hey, I got a contract offer. I'm going to sign it. I don't mind that he signed it without me. If he wants to stay and do Monday Night Football games, DSPN, and they're offering him more money to do it, and they're not going to offer Troy Aikman, that's fine. But it's on you to go to the person you've been with for that long and say, hey, I think I'm going to do this. And Troy Aikman has every right to get mad, upset, whatever he wants to do. But at least then he told him something. I completely understand why Troy Aikman got upset and wanted to punch Joe Buck by all reports. Based off of this. And he probably tried to hide his anger for a while. And then when Joe Buck gave him the opportunity to talk about it, that's when things got heated between the two. But they both are very professional. And you can't tell anything on the broadcast. They do the games professionally. I can't sense anything. between the two when I watch these Monday Night Football games.
00:10:03
Speaker 1: And apparently Buck said something like, we're all adults. We've got our jobs to do. Let's move forward. Let's have a great year. That was Buck's message, Joe Buck's message. So, you know, look, the other thing here, too, is I think without a year, ESPN's got the Super Bowl. What would this dynamic be like without that final game? Aikman's contract, that's his final game paired with Joe Buck. Without the Super Bowl, I wonder how Aikman handles this right now. Just given the fact that they're in the booth together and it's awkward. You can tell the expression on their face when they go to the open that they're clearly not happy. But you're right. I think Aikman's my favorite analyst. He goes after officials. He discusses NFL rules that he doesn't like, and he's willing to be open and honest about it. And he'll call out players, which is also difficult for some of these people to do.
00:10:57
Speaker 2: Yeah, he's really good. Look, I think that he would handle it the same way, even if they didn't have the Super Bowl, and he would finish out the season. And here's why. I believe he wants to continue doing this. And now with the news that J.J. Watt has signed a multi-year agreement to officially replace Tony Romo at CBS– Greg Olson and Troy Eggman, their contracts expire. They are going to be the two biggest color analyst free agents in NFL media. So they want to go somewhere else. I don't know where that landing spot is going to be, but whether it be in a studio or doing games, and I think both these guys are really good at doing games and that's what they should keep doing. They're going to have some opportunities. So if you want to be in that mix to be a high level free agent to go call games, then I think you, Be a professional the way he has. You finish out the season. You do a great Super Bowl broadcast. And you go find your next landing spot.
00:11:53
Speaker 1: It's interesting, the dynamic of the business behind the scenes. So CBS doesn't wait on Aikman to pair with Jim Nance. Nance wants J.J.
00:12:02
Speaker 2: Watt.
00:12:03
Speaker 1: And Nance went on a podcast and discussed his preparation behind the scenes. That's a clear shot at Tony Romo when he's saying that. Speaking of J.J. Watt, if you start to look around at the openings... We had Olsen on to discuss the fact that Tom Brady took his spot, right? And so that spot's taken. They're not going to put Aikman in Brady's spot. I did read where they have an out in the contract with Kirk Herbstreit on Thursday Night Football. And with Amazon and the money that they have and it being Al Michaels, I could totally see them pairing Aikman up and throwing the bank at his.
00:12:45
Speaker 1: Has to say, hey, do you want to pair up with Aikman and see what Al Michaels says about it?
00:12:50
Speaker 2: I think him or Greg Olson would be great in that spot for Amazon on Thursday night.
00:12:55
Speaker 1: I wonder if Olson replaces Aikman, though. Oh, Olson.
00:12:59
Speaker 2: You're saying Olson going to ESPN.
00:13:00
Speaker 1: I think so. That's what I'm thinking. The top broadcaster. Could be.
00:13:04
Speaker 2: Could be. Could be someone else out there that we don't even know about yet. I think of the Romo sensation where he was such a star early on. And it's like, okay, now we've got to go find the next Tony Romo. And, of course, we know how that all ended. But I think Mike Tomlin's kind of that guy in NFL media this year.
00:13:19
Speaker 1: That's a good one.
00:13:20
Speaker 2: On Sunday Night Football. He's very good. He's as good as everybody expected, maybe even better. And he's not afraid to take shots at players and coaches also. Does he want to eventually do games? Or does he like the role that he has right now with NBC? That's someone else that I would watch.
00:13:34
Speaker 1: Sean McVay has also been floated out there a couple years ago. with his interest in what, $ 20 million was the report that the media was offering him. I wouldn't be surprised if that happens again, especially if they kick it into gear and they end up on this run in the playoffs. And hey, I wouldn't be surprised if Pat McAfee is where they turn, because they turn to him for literally everything. He's already there at Monday night. That's also an interesting one, because again, ESPN is all in with McAfee, and he does literally everything that they have on their programming.
00:14:08
Speaker 2: McAfee's awesome, very talented, extremely hard worker. You can be overexposed at one network, and that would put him past the limit of overexposure if he was suddenly the guy to replace Troy Aikman on Monday Night Football. I'd say the same about Kirk Herbstreit. When I tune in on Thursday night to Prime Video and I hear Kirk Herbstreit's voice, it's never felt right to me.
00:14:30
Speaker 1: I agree.
00:14:31
Speaker 2: Kirk Herbstreit's a college football voice. Kirk Herbstreit's a great voice on College Game Day and the Game of the Week on ABC. That's who he is. It's just been a forced match with Herbstreet and Al Michaels. Not that Herbstreet is bad or does a bad job on the games. He's good. But it's just it doesn't feel right when I hear him calling NFL games on Thursday nights.
00:14:54
Speaker 1: So I read Andrew Marchand had Pat McAfee's first Monday Night Football alternate cast. His alternate broadcast had 351,000 viewers, according to a source. That's around half of what the Mannings have and have received. and that compared to other programming. He was outdrawn by NextGenStats telecast on NFL Network in week six based on those numbers. I had no idea he was even doing this.
00:15:20
Speaker 2: I'm surprised he got half of what the Mannings got, honestly. I thought it would be about the same with him debuting that and doing it for the first time. I watched it, Hutton. He's an awesome broadcaster. First and foremost, I don't care how many people watch the thing, he was calling play-by-play from the end zone. as well as a play-by-play guy would call it. He knew every player without looking at everything. He was calling it straight up with his own style and flair, play-by-play, and then going to other people for what was happening the whole time. The five minutes I saw of it, I was very impressed with him on it. I don't know what the longevity of that segment or that alternate broadcast would be. I like what the Mannings do. I know that it's got sort of a law of diminishing returns with the amount of people who watch it, but I still think it's very entertaining. with their alternate cast. I look at what ESPN and Disney's doing with the Super Bowl, and I'm thinking, man, if you want to bastardize a Super Bowl broadcast, look no further than Disney Corporation and what they've done with it. They've got like five different Star Wars themed broadcasts with it. It's crazy the amount of different things they're doing with the game. I understand the thought behind it, but man, oh man, you've got an alternate broadcast for absolutely everything on Disney and ABC.
00:16:33
Speaker 1: It's remarkable. ESPN had 6.6 million ABC 10.3. That's also part of the audience. You stick on it. But ESPN 2 is where McAfee was. You found it. I didn't even look there. I'm not even looking for it. Well, I went there because I wanted to see the Manning cast. And then I saw there was actually Pat McAfee's alternate cast that night. That's how I mistakenly saw it and ended up watching some of his broadcast. ESPN has the Super Bowl again in two years. They will have that on an app. is my prediction. And it's because the NFL is also a part owner with them. They're partners on it. I don't think this... The whole Disney thing is about conditioning you. Just like they did the Nickelodeon stuff on CBS. You know, that Nickelodeon game or whatever it's called.
00:17:21
Speaker 2: McAfee, by the way, I was watching the moment where Jaden Daniels threw the ball away on fourth down.
00:17:26
Speaker 1: Yeah.
00:17:27
Speaker 2: And his reaction doing the play-by-play, but also someone... It's like, well, Jaden Daniels decided to just throw it out of bounds on fourth down. Does he know it's fourth down? What exactly is happening here? And that's when they caught Dan Quinn not knowing clearly, and he was asked about it and lied and said, oh, of course I knew it was fourth down. He did not know that it was fourth down. Neither did Jaden Daniels the way he played that one. But it was funny listening to McAfee doing play-by-play during that moment.
00:17:54
Speaker 1: Such a great point, too, about the oversaturation. I don't even think about tuning in to McAfee because I see him everywhere. You know, like, so I see him on college game day. I see him everywhere. So I'm not going to watch another show with him.
00:18:09
Speaker 2: Dude is omnipresent. He is the voice in all of our heads at this point. I mean, you cannot escape him. He's everywhere all at once.
00:18:16
Speaker 1: Yep. Hey, also all at once, you can get the top 10 college football games of the weekend. Withrow's got that for you next. Harold Hunt and Withrow presented by Hard Rock Bet. Whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa. This is Coach's chair. What? We protect Coach's chair the way Hard Rock Bet protects Coach's account.
00:18:34
Speaker 2: Hard Rock Bet keeps Coach's info safe.
00:18:36
Speaker 1: Hard Rock Bet keeps Coach's money safe. And we keep Coach safe. Hey, fellas. Coach. Coach.
00:18:45
Speaker 2: How about that protection?
00:18:47
Speaker 1: Can I grab a wing? Coach's wings. I guess I'll sit on the ground. That's where Coach puts his feet.
00:18:51
Speaker 2: Safe and secure betting from the very first tap.
00:18:53
Speaker 1: Great to meet you, Coach. It was Coach's pleasure. Hard Rock Bet. 00:19:39
Speaker 1: Chad, last week's schedule for college football was the Camelot of schedules, right? Where would you rank this week's schedule compared to last week's schedule if last week was number one?
00:19:50
Speaker 2: Last week's schedule was the second most watched college football Saturday on record. I'm saying of all time.
00:19:57
Speaker 1: Of all time.
00:19:58
Speaker 2: Of all time with the games last week. If that was Camelot, this is the Flintstones of college football weekends. I'm not going to sugarcoat. I'm not going to, you know, try to make a chicken salad out of chicken you-know-what here.
00:20:15
Speaker 1: It's a rough week.
00:20:16
Speaker 2: It's a rough week, 1 through 10, for college football. But we're going to get to it right now, Hutton, starting with game number 10 for this weekend in college football. Texas Tech, eighth-ranked Red Raiders, 10.5-point favorites on the road at Cincinnati. This is a 12 p.m. Eastern, 11 a.m. Central kickoff on FS1.
00:20:36
Speaker 1: J.C.
00:20:36
Speaker 2: French IV, quarterback of Cincinnati, 1,338 yards passing, over 70% completion percentage, zero interceptions. One of the least talked about great quarterback stories in college football this year has been J.C. French IV. Texas Tech, they really don't do anything great on offense. 53rd in pass efficiency, 86th in rush efficiency, Hutton, but yet here are the Red Raiders ranked eighth in.
00:21:02
Speaker 1: The country going on the road. And they have plenty of talent. I mean, their quarterback Hammond. Do not be fooled by this spread, though. Right now it's a 10.5 at Hard Rock Bet. Cincinnati is 4-0 straight up at Nippert Stadium. The Bearcats are third nationally in offensive explosiveness. They have one of the most efficient run games, Chad, in the country with Tab in the backfield. Scott Satterfield, one of the most aggressive coaches on fourth down attempts. This could be one of the upsets because Cincinnati's playing at home and they play so well there.
00:21:30
Speaker 2: Nippert Stadium, by the way, I believe either the oldest or one of the oldest continuous college football stadiums in America. Don't quote me on that. That's just lying around in the recesses of my brain somewhere. But I have been to the University of Cincinnati when I was a younger man. I remember getting the lay of the land, and that is one of the older stadiums in college football. Game number nine. The Aggies of Texas A & M on the road in Tuscaloosa to take on the 13th-ranked Alabama Crimson Tide. Alabama, a 14-point favorite, 3.30 Eastern time, 2.30 Central on ABC. Bama's big play offense took a big hit against the Vols a week ago. They're going up against the Texas A & M Aggies team that has struggled to stop the big play or get one for themselves offensively. Can Keelan Russell and Alabama Hutton get back some of that mojo that they lost in Knoxville last week? I think this is a great bounce-back opportunity for Alabama at home.
00:22:27
Speaker 1: Yes, and I love the under, over-under at 50.5 at Hard Rock Bet. Russell has been held to under 200 passing yards in back-to-back weeks now. Is this a trend? A & M hasn't scored a touchdown on the road in SEC play, and they've scored just 13 points combined there. This is a low-possession grinder. I'm taking the under.
00:22:46
Speaker 2: Meat grinder of a game.
00:22:47
Speaker 1: I'm with you.
00:22:47
Speaker 2: I don't think that Alabama is going to put up a ton of points on this.
00:22:50
Speaker 1: A & M defense. But there's still a separation of score, yeah.
00:22:52
Speaker 2: But I think they're going to be very alive and well for a possible college football playoff bid after Saturday. Come Sunday morning, I think they're going to still be sitting there with two losses after they beat Texas A & M. Game number eight. Number two, BYU Cougars, talk of the nation. After that big win at home over Notre Dame last week, they got to go on the road across the country. So you talk about relief syndrome that Lane Kiffin spoke about earlier this week. BYU only a 6.5-point favorite at UCF, who's not exactly lit the world on fire this year. This is a 3.30 Eastern time kickoff on ESPN. UCF coming off a bye week. Also, they've had time to get rested and get healthy. The problem is their starting quarterback has been injured. Keon Jenkins, the backup, is set to start for the fifth straight game for UCF. BYU hunting 6-0 for the third straight season. That is a program record under Kalani Sataki.
00:23:46
Speaker 1: A quarterback wearing, what, 47? Is that right? Bear Bachmeier, number 47, yep. Hey, six and a half, I did a double take at that. You'll see, though, where UCF is 3-0 at home, 3-1 against the spread as an underdog. So I don't think BYU has a cross-country letdown, but I think they wear the Knights down in the fourth quarter, and I think they cover the six and a half.
00:24:09
Speaker 2: The bounce house, I think is what they call that. The bounce house, yeah. Whatever that thing is at UCF. Much like you don't go into Kroger Field and push them around. You don't go into the bounce house and push around the UCF Knights. Game number six this week, Hutton. Tennessee, number 11 at South Carolina. The Gamecocks, now a two-and-a-half point favorite, 3.30 Eastern time on ESPN. We've talked a lot about Tennessee this week. We haven't talked a lot about South Carolina. coming off a bye. The week before that, they go to the Swamp and they dominate. It looks like Shane Beamer has rallied the troops. Lenora Sellers is going to be a load for everybody, including this great Tennessee defense. For Tennessee, it's coming off that emotional high. Cigar smoke in the air in Knoxville at Neyland Stadium. Can Jim Knowles dial up another game plan and execution to the level of what they just did to Alabama? They can do it. They've shown they're capable. They can shut a team down and wreak havoc all day. Can they do that on the road at Williams-Brice Stadium? It's a tough place to play. It's been a tough place for Tennessee to play. This is the classic trap for Tennessee to go in and lose. That's what Vegas is predicting to happen, Hutton. What say you about Tennessee and South Carolina on Saturday afternoon?
00:25:24
Speaker 1: I don't know how it can be a trap when South Carolina is favored. That would be bulletin board material for me. And it is for Tennessee. Yeah, at Tennessee, 6-1 to the under. The under is 50 and a half, by the way. The Vols forced four turnovers last week. And you've got USC, who is 109th in turnover margin. They have played the 14th toughest schedule. They're the home favorite. And the turnover issues for the Gamecocks, Chad, I think is the difference here. The Vols have an opportunity to defense. And you pair that with the atrocious pass defense that South Carolina has. I think McIntyre goes play action. And I think it works well. I'll take Tennessee plus two and a half.
00:26:00
Speaker 2: And Tennessee's shown, too, George McIntyre doesn't have to be a hero for them to win. He just made some throws, hit a couple slants, hit a couple rollouts, did a good job one time of making something happen where it looked like he was going to throw it away and threw it back across his body. Just make some plays. They're not going to put the whole game on you. Be a good game clock manager, control time of possession, and Tennessee's going to have a great chance to get out of South Carolina with a win.
00:26:27
Speaker 1: We've discussed this prior, but again, I think Beamer remains head coach with a win here, and he's already got the win over Florida. I don't think they want to fire him and pay the buyout anyway. I'm sure a lot of people do at home. When they play at home, they have the 13-point leads and then give them up, or 17-point leads. But you beat Tennessee after already beating Florida. That's working with house money for Beamer.
00:26:49
Speaker 2: There may be some South Carolina fans rooting against them because they really want the guy fired. Everybody in South Carolina wants, like, heck, for him to win. Saturday because, like you said, they avoid the buyout.
00:27:00
Speaker 1: I'm with you.
00:27:00
Speaker 2: They win this game. We're not even talking about it anymore. He is going to be the head coach at South Carolina moving forward. Game number five. Virginia Tech at Clemson in the ACC. The Clemson Tigers a two and a half point favorite at home. Seven o'clock Eastern kickoff on ESPN. Clemson blown out against Miami. We haven't really seen them in three weeks because they followed that blowout loss with an open week and then they beat Charleston Southern a week ago. So Virginia Tech They've lost a couple in a row here recently. Can they get back on track? And a big chance for Clemson to continue to not completely fall apart by getting a home win here against James Franklin.
00:27:37
Speaker 1: In year one. Man, Clemson's passing game is at rock bottom. They got one touchdown every 95 pass attempts is what I read. I mean, that's abysmal. And the Hokies' run defense is number one in tackle for loss rates. So if you think about the fact that they're going to shut down the run and then Clemson can't pass for touchdowns. I mean, I think Virginia Tech, the run stuffing front, they're going to cover this as a favorite. It's a elimination game too, right? You get boxed out of the ACC championship game here. Yeah, yeah, it is.
00:28:09
Speaker 2: Yeah, winner stays alive, losers out of it.
00:28:11
Speaker 1: Yeah.
00:28:12
Speaker 2: Game number four, as we go through the top five. Number 18, LSU, seven and a half point road favorite at Auburn, 12 noon, 11 a.m. Central time on ABC. Hutton, both teams can and will play fast in this game. Here's the big difference, though. Auburn is 133rd nationally in time of possession, so them playing fast costs their defense. LSU can mix up tempos and still control time of possession. I said it earlier this week in our Going for the Bundle parlay. I really like LSU to win going away in this one on the road. I'm conflicted on this because while I think LSU should do that, they should double the spread. This is a live home dog coming off the win against Georgia at 11 a.m. Central that could make it a dogfight. You know, can they actually parlay these consecutive upsets? I don't think so.
00:29:00
Speaker 1: But I don't trust LSU here on the road after what I saw in Kentucky. I know it was a close game. I wouldn't have went for two. But, you know, you got Kiffin complaining about the schedule. Maybe, you know, he's firing them up for this. It's 11 a.m. kickoff. This is not at night down in the bayou. I'm conflicted on it. I'm staying away from it.
00:29:20
Speaker 2: Yeah, I think it has a chance to be a really good game. I see LSU pulling away. Auburn coming out with that big win. If I were betting it, I would take LSU minus a seven. I like what Lane Kiffin had to say for LSU's chances. We were really rooting for Auburn to win that game because we thought they'd let down the next week if they won it, and then they won it. I feel like that's kind of Lane Kiffin calling a shot. Game number three. Number six, Indiana at Michigan. Big noon kickoff on Fox. Michigan can't score. It's pretty simple. They have scored more than 19 points twice all year against UTEP, and they scored 21 in the win last week against Penn State. That's only after pulling Bryce Underwood as starting quarterback and going with young Tommy Carr as their quarterback. On paper, Indiana should blow them out in this game. They're much better. They should suffocate them defensively. They're going to get enough done. Marsh at wide receiver. If he doesn't step out of bounds, what are we talking about Indiana right now? They're far and away the number one team in the country. With a win over Ohio State, I think Indiana's about to go on the road and beat Michigan. But playing in the big house, Michigan does play better there. Gives them some sort of chance.
00:30:30
Speaker 1: Hey, man, I mean, the line's 7 1⁄2, but the over-under is key here at Hard Rock Bet. Michigan's pass defense is 8th in the country. Indiana's coming into this game after a bruising matchup against Ohio State. The over-under's 41 1⁄2. They're favored by 7 1⁄2. So to me, IU's winning... but it's a game with the total at 41. Give me the points here because I'm thinking with 41, it's a low-scoring game, and they're saying Indiana's going to score the majority of them. You're right. Michigan can't score. I'll take the Hoosiers.
00:31:02
Speaker 2: Game number two. Let's go to the Big 12. Number 14, Houston at number 10, Utah in Salt Lake City. First time in AP poll history, two teams from the state of Utah ranked in the top 10. BYU at number 10. Utah, I'm sorry, BYU number two, Utah at number 10. Never happened before.
00:31:19
Speaker 1: Wow.
00:31:19
Speaker 2: Great time to be a college football fan in the state of Utah. This game, a Hutton special. 9-15 Eastern time kickoff on ESPN. Houston offense leads the nation in success rate. Connor Wigman has been terrific. Utah's defense, sixth in defensive efficiency nationally, Hutton. A battle of a great offense going up against a great defense.
00:31:43
Speaker 1: Biggest game of the Big 12 of the season, right, to date. You've got Utah and a win that keeps the Utes unbeaten. It's all headed towards Utah-BYU, but yes, for right now, yep. And then you've got a fourth straight Big 12 win for 6-1 Houston if that happens here. That would vault them past Utah in that conference driver's seat. Utah's going to score plenty on the ground. Houston is number one, as you mentioned, in their success rate. Shootout's here, right? Shootout is here, and I'm taking the cover. Game number one.
00:32:14
Speaker 2: Let's go to the SEC. Number seven, Ole Miss at number 19, Texas. The Longhorns, a three-and-a-half-point favorite. 7.30 Eastern time, 6.30 Central kick on ABC. Texas has got what looks like the punk son of some booster kid getting kicked out of Darryl K. Royal Stadium forever because he's on the field with a sideline pass flipping off Florida players with a bandana around his neck. What the hell is going on with Texas? Arch Manning, I think, said the right things, handled everything well. about how he's got to stop caring so much. He's got to go out there and let it rip. He hasn't played well, hasn't been good enough. Arch Manning will be the starter in this game. How quick will the hook be for Steve Sarkeesian if he starts rough offensively and Ole Miss takes an early lead? We saw what Ole Miss is capable of with Trinidad Chambliss in that game against LSU. They have blown out their last two opponents at Vandy, Missouri at home. Now they go on the road with a chance to possibly end Texas's playoff chances. I think there's going to be a three-loss SEC team in the playoffs, so it certainly doesn't mathematically eliminate them, but it makes it really tough if the Longhorns drop three in a row by losing at home to Ole Miss.
00:33:23
Speaker 1: Chad, this is a glaring styles clash here. Ole Miss, they struggle on defense, and Texas has problems on offense, but look, I'm going to take Chambliss and Lacey, and I think the Rebels are locked in, and if they come in and start scoring fast, they're going to put the backup in, yes, And if the Rebels end up winning the SEC title game, they'll be the favorite to be locked in for that, right? With a straight up win here.
00:33:48
Speaker 2: No doubt about it.
00:33:50
Speaker 1: I'm glad this is number one. I think wrong team favorite. Do you agree?
00:33:54
Speaker 2: I think Ole Miss is a better team. Absolutely. I think it's going to say a lot about Sark and Arch in this game because this is a back against the wall game at home. They're going to get a really good environment at night in a primetime kickoff. So I have a hard time picking Ole Miss, but in terms of wrong team favorite, yes, Ole Miss is the better football team. And if they play really well, they're going to win.
00:34:17
Speaker 1: And to me, the three-loss SEC team, it would be a team like Tennessee, hypothetically, who lost by three to Texas at the time.
00:34:25
Speaker 2: Yeah.
00:34:25
Speaker 1: Number one, right?
00:34:26
Speaker 2: And we'll see who those teams beat and who they don't. You know, all that has to remain to be seen about their big quality wins, too. Yes. I do think somebody this year is going to get in with three losses in the SEC. Don't know who that is yet. but it's going to be at least one team.
00:34:41
Speaker 1: And Texas is ranked where right now?
00:34:43
Speaker 2: Texas is 19th.
00:34:45
Speaker 1: 19th. I think with a loss here, they're going to go so far down, they won't be able to make it back up that high.
00:34:50
Speaker 2: They'll drop out of the top 25.
00:34:52
Speaker 1: Yeah.
00:34:52
Speaker 2: With three losses.
00:34:53
Speaker 1: It's a tough line to back up.
00:34:54
Speaker 2: With three losses before November, they'll drop out of the top 25. All right, 10 through 1.
00:35:00
Speaker 1: Here we go.
00:35:00
Speaker 2: College football. This week's games of the week. Number 10, number 8, Texas Tech at Cincinnati. Number nine, Texas A & M at number 13, Alabama. Number eight, back in the Big 12, BYU at UCF. BYU only a six and a half point favorite. Game number seven, you've got USC and Wisconsin, which I believe I skipped that game earlier. Apologies to USC and Wisconsin. It went right to Tennessee and South Carolina. We'll talk about that more. Game number six, Tennessee at South Carolina. The 11th ranked Vols. Number five, Virginia Tech at Clemson. Number four, Number 18, LSU at Auburn. Game number three, Indiana at Michigan. Number two, number 14, Houston at number 10, Utah. And game number one, number seven, Ole Miss at number 19, Texas. Three and a half point favorites. You know, I skipped right past USC and Wisconsin. Easy to skip past Wisconsin. Easy to skip past USC right now.
00:35:53
Speaker 1: They've only got one loss. I know.
00:35:55
Speaker 2: I mean, they're sitting here. They got the home loss to Oregon, and they were kind of forgotten about then, but I tell you what, that offense, Jordan Maiava is averaging over 310 yards passing per game. They are lighting some teams up, so they get a chance on the road at Wisconsin. So we mark that game at number seven because USC quietly is still right there in contention.
00:36:17
Speaker 1: Chad, right now they lead the Big Ten in third down conversion and fourth down conversions. That's hard to do in that league. But they rank 120th. in yards allowed per pass attempt, their defense. It's, what, two and a half, three and a half at Hard Rock Bet. I think Wisconsin could be a live dog here, just given the fact that Wisconsin's defense is not going to allow USC to stay ahead of the chains. They're very good on early downs. USC's not. They're constantly converting on third and fourth down this season. This is a great game, and USC surprised me on the road. They couldn't win on the road, Lincoln Riley. He couldn't take his team cross country. Now they are.
00:37:00
Speaker 2: Hutton, I can't wait. College Football Weekend is here.

I think if you would just join us for Withrow's top 25 or top 10 games of the college football weekend. We all lead that way, too. We're confident in our bundle. Join us and take care of the offer while you can. Chad, I like this this week.
00:38:30
Speaker 2: Bet what you know, and we know the SEC, and we went three deep on SEC games in our bundle this week.
00:38:36
Speaker 1: So I love it. Let's lock it in. Hey, and tonight you've got Virginia.
00:38:41
Speaker 2: Tonight, give me the Wahoos.
00:38:43
Speaker 1: Virginia.
00:38:45
Speaker 2: Friday night, hunting, trying to go to 16-1. I may even release like a little secret pick. I've been eyeing that Wyoming game in Laramie tonight against Air Force also as a live home dog. My Wyoming Cowboys, the home of Josh Allen, being a possible live home underdog against Air Force to win outright. I'm going to see if I pick that a little bit later, but I'm definitely picking Virginia minus two and a half at home against Duke in a rematch of last year's ACC championship.
00:39:11
Speaker 1: It's Friday, and for Hard Rock Bet, we profit like it's hot. I'm going with Kenneth Walker III. Over 84.5 rushing yards. Look, he's returning back to Seattle. He's coming off of back-to-back outings of 177 and 128. Facing his former team. Look, he's chewing up clock. here the the Chiefs are the road underdog which is rare you can get plus money right now at Hard Rock Bet give me over 84 and a half rushing yards for Kenneth Walker III Tony Pollard for the Titans under 66 and a half why because he plays for the Titans' offense behind that offensive line. Under, Tony Pollard, 66.5 rushing yards. Chad, they're also playing the Cleveland Browns very good at stopping the run. That was one of your props last week, and they faced the Cleveland Browns. Derrick Henry did. He scored, but he didn't rush for very many yards. I'm taking Pollard under. And Jameer Gibbs, over 93.5 rushing yards. The guy is coming off a bye week. The Lions are taking on the Packers. And I think they're going to run and get him the ball a lot in this game. That's what they do. They've got a solid quarterback play this year. No interceptions. And look, Gibbs is one of the best in the league.
00:40:25
Speaker 2: Run, run, run, run, run for the Detroit Lions and Jameer Gibbs. I like it. I'll be playing all three of those. I've got one for you. The Tennessee Titans cannot run and they cannot pass.
00:40:35
Speaker 1: Oh, yes.
00:40:35
Speaker 2: I'm going to go Cam Ward under... 187 and a half yards. I thought that number was crazy when I first saw it. A guy who can't throw for 100 yards in a win. The Browns defense is good. I feel very confident Cam Ward going under 187 and a half yards. I'm taking that as my prop this week.
00:40:55
Speaker 1: Chad, last week it was 202 passing yards. It was under that as well. I like it. You think it was 79? I'd rock that. Am I right?
00:41:04
Speaker 2: Did he throw for 79 yards last week? Is that total 97?
00:41:07
Speaker 1: He threw for 102 yards.
00:41:09
Speaker 2: 102, okay. So he did go over 100.
00:41:11
Speaker 1: A lot of that second half. I think the Titans had 49 yards total or something.
00:41:16
Speaker 2: I get all the miserable stats confused. Did he throw for 79 yards recently at some point? Or am I making that up? Probably.
00:41:23
Speaker 1: Maybe not?
00:41:24
Speaker 2: Okay. I'll find it.
00:41:26
Speaker 1: You can see there on the screen, Monday we made what with Hard Rocks? That's because we're very confident going into the weekend. Let's win, Chad. Let's win. It's time.
00:41:33
Speaker 2: Time to win.
00:41:34
Speaker 1: Happy football.
00:41:35
Speaker 2: Happy football to you, Hud.
00:41:37
Speaker 1: Yes. Join us Monday here on Sporting State for a Hutton and Withrow presented by Hard Rock Bet.
00:41:43
Speaker 2: Have a great weekend to all.
