If a jury convicts Matthew Farwell in the death of Sandra Birchmore, he's looking at life in federal prison, where parole doesn't exist. Prosecutors say the ex-Stoughton detective killed Sandra while she was pregnant. He's pleaded not guilty.
The feds didn't put ex-Minneapolis officer Derek Chauvin in solitary. They housed him with former officers, ex-gang members and others deemed high-risk. Prosecutors say one of them, a former gang leader, stabbed Chauvin 22 times.
