I feel like Mike Flanagan, in my opinion, has earned our trust when it comes to properties. He's done really, really, really good movies and shows. Midnight Mask being one of my favorites. Haunting a Hill House. He did Doctor Sleep, which I did not watch for literal years because I was like, you're not going to fuck around and make a sequel to The Shining. I'm not watching this bullshit. Just being a dumbass. I finally sat down. I'm like, God damn, this movie's good. This movie's really good. So, yeah. And he did Hush. He's done a lot of stuff. Speaker 1: Ken. What say you? I enjoyed it. I liked the idea of taking a movie and expanding certain elements of it. And during our discussion, there were some things that we had questions about. And they also provided additional context about why, outside of just being fuckers, that this person was so mean. And then, of course, there were metaphors there, and they modernized it to fit today's world to address a couple of things. But overall, watching the first couple of episodes, I was like, man, I really like where they're going for it. It got to a point where it was dragging the story. It got a little choppy. And they added some stuff in there, and I'm like, okay, what are we doing and why? That I still question, and I didn't know if we necessarily need it. But overall, I think filling in those gaps, I think, was a good part of what I enjoyed about it. And I was just thinking about other movies that are out there. And I know they're doing Crystal Lake and some others. And I'm like, what other movies could they do to where they just flush out this one story and just kind of start from the beginning to the end and just add some stuff in there, creative license, as Jay-Z liked to say. So overall, I enjoy what they did with this.

I'm pretty sure it made my best of the year list that year. Then he did Carrie.

But Yeah, I thought that was really cool, like Netflix-style documentary style, because that's what would happen nowadays. If a tragedy like that happened, they would come and bring them cameras and put them in them kids' faces and not give two fucks.

So in general, did y'all like this edition of these other stories of people having powers?

And I thought that was like a really good, like, that's why I said American Horror Story, Coven, because it like, it kind of, what to me felt like witches. but it could have been other things other reasons why they had power so yeah but yeah I felt like they were kind of collecting stories just to explain this story which I felt like was kind of cool because who hasn't heard the story about the lady lifting the car off her son like I thought that was cool.

And I was really looking forward to seeing what they do with that, kind of going back in history and pulling some of these stories about how they perceive women were and the different reasons why they were killed and persecuted and stuff like that because there was just a lack of understanding and trying to take that and apply it into the present day. I thought it was really, really dope. So I liked all of those additions at the beginning of the episodes.

But she ends up getting demoted to maintenance. I have never seen.
