00:00:00
Speaker 1: But I just take this not affecting the quality of.
00:00:02
Speaker 2: The builtdown Bill two with Metro Homes, Sell one and move on, keep the other as an investment.
00:00:16
Speaker 3: Metro Homes they do it all for you.
00:00:18
Speaker 4: Live from hein Marsh Square. It's five Double A Breakfast. David Penberthy and Will Goodings.
00:00:26
Speaker 5: The problem is it was so good people are going to think we tripped it up. That was unbelievable. The timing of your signal dropping out said yesterday, listen to it. I didn't, honestly, it was too perfect. It was like we made it up. Oh, good morning to you folks. Welcome to five Double A Breakfast on this Friday to seventeenth of April. Coming up on the program this morning, lots of talk about the refinery fire yesterday, how long it had burned for, what the impacts were going to be at the site in Geelong, What are the impacts going to be for the broader community. We'll talk about that after six thirty today. The future of the North Adelaide Golf Course. It sounds like full steam ahead. Kevin Norton is the North Adelaide Golf Club president. He will join us on the show before seven o'clock today, very much in the camp that the business case stacks up with or without live golf. What about the miss the case of the missing votes, the story that sent the new cycle into a spin yesterday broken on breaking at eight here yesterday eighty one votes for the seat of Narranga. There's more. There's hundreds of votes in other seats that have with far bigger margins, so of little consequence that said, every vote counts. We'll be chatting with One Nation's Essay President Carlos Kremba this morning and also Professor Clem McIntyre from Adelaide University because this sets off a whole series of potential events, legal challenges, under what circumstances can recount, can effectively a by election take place? All sorts of stuff to talk about. Out of that. We've got to Cinderella tickets to give away. We are going to chat with Tim, Timmy ghead of a big weekend in sport. It's going to be fun morning. David Penworthy, good wanting to you.
00:02:00
Speaker 6: Good morning Will, Good morning listeners. I hadn't actually hurt that Will, and you're right the fact that it was like I just hope it's not compromising. The professionalism of the program was a bit where a brokeout perfect but it had a little bit too good to be true. It sounded like we did it, we did it, we had known it too perfectly. But in all honesty, when you were doing the final interview of the show with Yeah for Ca yeah about petrol drive offs, I just went out and hung out in the tea room with Sam Daddo and we're chatting away and riding them and go now. But I actually did leave like I was.
00:02:32
Speaker 5: No, I don't know.
00:02:33
Speaker 6: I was on Greenhill Road as the news started. Seriously, we don't make a habit of it.
00:02:39
Speaker 5: See the AFL have had a private quiet chat yeah about it. You know, guys in future, No, it's in trouble. But just in future, let's do the tribunals.
00:02:47
Speaker 6: Not in our car. Yeah, try to be in the same Yeah. Maybe not when you're passing. Don't do it on a park bench, people's character. Don't do it when you're making your kids lunches. Let's just have your full attention in future. I'm gonna have another big discussion on their plate today. Carlton Collingwood last night. Yeah, well there is some pretty disturbing vision getting around this morning. Not concussion related. It's hard to talk about on air, but it's a story and the story that's hard. It's hard to discuss in the traditional media, but it's been understandably discussed with vigor on social media.
00:03:35
Speaker 5: So it features a young Carlton football or the name of Elijah Hollins, who has had I think we'll publicized battles in the past with mental health and so forth. He doesn't seem to be he played, so he's the stats. He played sixty percent of the game. He didn't touch the ball, but he.
00:03:54
Speaker 6: Looks done well though.
00:03:56
Speaker 5: The people take this vision of him taken in the stands by people just isolating him, just watching him on the field that you wouldn't have seen on TV, where he doesn't seem to be behaving normally like.
00:04:07
Speaker 6: A footballer, but he's still out there playing. He doesn't seem to be in control of all of his limbs.
00:04:17
Speaker 5: It's it's going to be a big story today. We'll get Tom Ren's thoughts on it in a moment as well.
00:04:23
Speaker 6: It's sad, it's it goes disturbing judy of care thing around that club. Doesn't it serious?
00:04:30
Speaker 7: Here?
00:04:30
Speaker 5: Has a lot of questions.
00:04:31
Speaker 6: I'll tell you what they And as I say this with all sincerity, it's hard not to feel a kind of pity for cart and fans like that club keep finding I think I'm quoting you here will new and even crueler ways to lose. Last night there in the box eat then all of a sudden chanced to kick a goal after the siren to at least draw the match, and that poor kid misses that absolute and it's like, oh my.
00:05:01
Speaker 5: God, that's gotten. There's a way to break the hearts of the supporters that hasn't been done before.
00:05:07
Speaker 6: They're going to find it. Oh, I had one touch over the course of his sixty percent of game time. But we'll talk more about that with them.
00:05:13
Speaker 5: With reading. Let's let's get this meat tray happening thanks to Dave and the team at Goodwood quality meat, so you know it's going to be a high quality meat tray.
00:05:22
Speaker 6: I tell you what, Dave is an innovator. I've got three words for you, Will. Maybe they're four words. I'm not sure. I haven't counted them. Lamb and bacon roll ups. Oh, lamb and bacon roll ups. We had them. Kate and I had one each last night for dinner. They absolutely that sounds sensafe. It's like a minced lamb patty, but it's stuffed with them a mozzarella ball and then it's wrapped in bacon and it's got like a garlic bread crumb on top and put him in the oven for twenty minutes. Just had it with some scolloped potato and a green salad.
00:05:54
Speaker 5: That sounds fantastic. So the meat tray this morning, well, we need your help in one of some ways. It's the easiest metra you're ever going to contest because it simply requires you calling in with words starting with C. Because we received David this bit of feedback to the program.
00:06:13
Speaker 6: So j ration in Wayville, rights and I should say rights by hand beautifully beautiful, beautiful handwriting writ I think you can hold it up for the live stream. That's not going to work. Is at no point, Sorry about that wasted everyone's time. So it's a it's a postcard. It looks like some sort of Olympics related postcard. Olympia Gore Athns. I think that's I think that's should get con to translate it for US Olympia Athens Athens Olympics. It is an that's by the bye. So it's a postcard with a picture of the first Olympics on the front. On the back, Jay RATIONM of Wayville rights David Penburthy, how disgusting you are not a good start using the sea word on radio this morning, seventh of April. Grow up, David, you're neither smart nor funny.
00:07:13
Speaker 5: Well, I mean most of that is.
00:07:17
Speaker 1: Valid.
00:07:17
Speaker 6: No apart from the I'll never use that word on radio, well, well, because I barely use it.
00:07:25
Speaker 5: We take the complaints seriously. Our producers went back controlled through the tape and did not hear the sea word mentioned any point, which was of great comfort to everyone. So to the meat tray, we're wondering this morning what might be a sea word? David said that could have caused defense. So really for the meat tray this morning, call in with a sea word eight double two to three double o double o bodus sports if you've got an explanation why it could be offensive. We were just wondering what it could have been that he said. The only piece of evidence you've got to work on is the he set a sea word. Neither funny nor.
00:07:57
Speaker 6: Neither smart nor funny smart nor funny eight double two three double o double What was the sea word?
00:08:03
Speaker 5: David said? Let us know you can text in as well on zero before eight zero eight thirty ninety five.
00:08:07
Speaker 6: But a call, well, but we we've eliminated that word.
00:08:12
Speaker 5: Yeah, we know it's not that. We need some help as to what else it could bring. So give us a call.
00:08:21
Speaker 6: Seaword eight double two three double o double o Texas on zero four eight zero eight thirty ninety five.
00:08:27
Speaker 8: Knockdown bill two with Metro Homes, Sell one and move on, keep the other as an investment. Metro Homes, They do it all for you.
00:08:36
Speaker 4: David been Berthey and will Goodies five double A Breakfast.
00:08:40
Speaker 6: Twenty after six.
00:08:41
Speaker 5: The creative minds of the five Double A Breakfast audience are in overdrive as we try to solve a riddle this morning a complaint letter alleging David said the sea word. We know one seaword it wasn't, so what could it have been that drew a fence? Eight double two three double o double?
00:08:55
Speaker 2: Oh?
00:08:56
Speaker 5: Is the number? There are somewhere, Martin more funny, There are somewhere between ten and twelve thousand English words which begin with C any single one of them you call in and say, puts you in the running to in the meat tray this morning. It's never been more it's never been easier to the meat trait than this. Let's go to Lockley's Russell. What could it have been that David said.
00:09:15
Speaker 9: Oh, it would have won the Good morning chaps anyway.
00:09:18
Speaker 10: Undoubtedly it would have been crap because David says that word.
00:09:22
Speaker 11: Quite a lot.
00:09:24
Speaker 6: I say the word crap or I talk crap. There's a fine line they do spiral tap, there's such a fine line between stupid and clever.
00:09:33
Speaker 5: Sam in thebit.
00:09:34
Speaker 10: And good order, Good morning guys, Happy Friday.
00:09:38
Speaker 12: Dave, I've heard you say can't believe it, so you could interpretate can't for the other word.
00:09:46
Speaker 5: Yeah, like carn the Crows said, it's clearly what you're talking about. Yes, thank you, double two three, double a Sam. It's a bit early for wordplay.
00:09:54
Speaker 6: Yeah. I'll say a lot of people are just simply multiple people are simply text. Again, I think most of them are actually Carlton's the borders are saying that you and I are both guilty of saying it. Today, Will that the word is calt. A lot of football rided, we're not going to read out all of.
00:10:09
Speaker 5: Them because there's a few people that will allow some time to call in. But some food related once, some new cycle related words, some from history, lots of seas coming through on the text slide, So give us a call. It could be you that wins the meat tray thanks to good quality beats this Friday morning. What could it have been? Which sea word.
00:10:33
Speaker 6: When we did breaking at eight yesterday? I don't know if you could tell because I didn't actually really fully tell you what I knew? Did I will? Until the eight o'clock news break, I said, this is one Yes, that's right, Like I knew that the source was solid, but there was still a bit of confusion around it. And then the text after the show started coming in and going yeah, definitely, there's at least like eighty votes and crazy story, isn't it? It is unbelievable, you can It really invites suspicion, human inclinations to go, well, if there was one box there correct, and we're not saying that, but you know, they go, hang on, no, that's there's a box of votes, like this is meant to be the most water type process on Earth. I think it'd be like ten Brownlow votes being found after Brownlow nine and going hang on by the young people didn't put them in the the online.
00:11:31
Speaker 5: The problem is it's now part of a pattern of mismanagement by Exer. The Electoral Commission has not paid people. They've lost votes. The machinery didn't work on the day. Like just if you were to do a checklist of all the things you need to achieve during an election campaign or an election day, how many have they got a big green tick next to right now? Because I just named the three core things you need to do. Pay your people, collect all the votes and make sure people can vote in orderly fashion. Bomb boom, David Alberton on the board, the sea word, how close.
00:12:14
Speaker 13: Are you hovering? Is that dump button this morning?
00:12:17
Speaker 5: I'm always prepped.
00:12:20
Speaker 13: Cult as in the margat.
00:12:23
Speaker 6: Cult Ah Yeah, okay, yeah, the colts might have said that. I might have been talking about the band You Love Removal Machine. What a song that was? Fat you Dave.
00:12:33
Speaker 5: Don't mind that one. Let's go to our resident stats band, Ben Jordan. Morning, Ben, are good? Thanks Ben.
00:12:41
Speaker 14: I'm going to go with the Your love of the third tier of Government.
00:12:44
Speaker 6: Pindo Council Yeah, that would be a I mean that is just that's a close to a band.
00:12:49
Speaker 5: Word on this program might have.
00:12:51
Speaker 6: Been lavishing praise on Mitcham Council for getting to the bottom of climate change around engineer another seaword. Yeah, double barrel, double barrel Council climate change. It was like playing scattergrees, isn't it?
00:13:02
Speaker 5: It really is. I love scatter agree go eight double two to three double double four. The meat tray, the sea word that had a complaint seen into the program, David said it we just trying to work out what it was. Some good suggestions coming through, keep them coming in. That good wood quality and meat tray is going to be really something to make your weekend. Twelve point seven degrees outside at the moment feels like thirteen point one heading for a top of twenty one today, partly cloudy, no rain on the forecast. Tomorrow's a beautiful day, sunny, twenty five degrees. It's a look at the wind, light winds that Tomorrow's perfect day to do just about anything you want. Sunday a shower or to the bureau saying, but then you look and they're only forecasting zero to one millimeters of rain. So twenty five degrees again, nothing too bad there, and the early part of next week really pretty autumnal weather in Adelaide. Twenty two Monday, no rain, twenty six on Tuesday twenty five, Wednesday, twenty fourth Thursday, so a beautiful week next week.
00:13:58
Speaker 6: The thongs back out of the cup, get then you have to break the shot.
00:14:01
Speaker 5: I've already made the transition to pants. I think I might have gone too early.
00:14:05
Speaker 6: It's not how to get the shorts back out and put them back on again?
00:14:08
Speaker 1: Would you?
00:14:09
Speaker 5: You know?
00:14:09
Speaker 6: There are a few creatures who have it like me, David, I change.
00:14:14
Speaker 5: I'm in my routine. There's a few tendencies there. I will confess. Let's get some more meat.
00:14:21
Speaker 6: Roger, good morning, Good morning, How are you good? Thank you earning?
00:14:26
Speaker 15: Are the Carlton?
00:14:28
Speaker 6: I'd say, yeah, yeah, I exactly speak for many.
00:14:31
Speaker 5: You might be hearing that seaweed a bit in a moment because Tom Rinds in the studio. John and morfit Vale, good morning.
00:14:37
Speaker 13: What's he talking about?
00:14:39
Speaker 14: You know?
00:14:39
Speaker 16: A crime scene could have been a police money a constable, John.
00:14:48
Speaker 6: People have gotten in trouble with that one before. Well, we talked to police comfortable every day we certainly five, certainly comfortables are good friends at Police Media.
00:14:57
Speaker 5: This is all good stuff. Eight double two three double O double O. Think we've worked through about seven or eight of the twelve thousand sea words, so there's still pleave opportunities for you to get on board and have you say eight double two three double double Tom Rein in the studio, Colors, custom Design, anyhow, city style, Gliderol, garage doors, gliderol dot com, dot are you morning dear read morning boys.
00:15:16
Speaker 17: We'll get to the Crows and Port Adelaide shortly, but in terms of last night's game, it all kicked off Carltlon and Collingwood. We'll concentrate on the positive first, amazing finish at the end and Nick day KOs that last quarter was as good an individual quarter I think I've seen this year, maybe in the last couple of years. He was everywhere. Kick goal set them up one contest to possessions. I think he had third or fourteen touches. He was just electric, incredible finish. The Blues actually had a chance to win it after the siren. I think we've got the final moments of the game.
00:15:49
Speaker 4: To try a game.
00:15:50
Speaker 8: The cotton stop with fifteen seconds from made him.
00:15:54
Speaker 6: Taylor Fern, the young Carlton player, is just eighteen years of age. He's playing his fourth game of thefl football.
00:16:03
Speaker 18: It is a long way from krout to the MCG, but that's the journey.
00:16:09
Speaker 6: This show man is on the top.
00:16:10
Speaker 4: Tats came the sign sounds on how.
00:16:14
Speaker 19: The MCG fourteen eight is Africa.
00:16:19
Speaker 6: He's missed.
00:16:24
Speaker 4: When Count Loose.
00:16:28
Speaker 6: Had enough cruelest fashion, helpless count.
00:16:34
Speaker 17: Team tage, it's got a great call, he's the best, his knee and he Hudson there. That was on double A last night. So that was to draw the game.
00:16:44
Speaker 6: You could team take well, it's a movie the moment.
00:16:48
Speaker 17: Yeah, and they've just unfortunately played this one out many times already. They led by eighteen points at three quarter time, probably should have been six or seven goals up. In the third quarter, they missed three or four really straight forward chances.
00:17:01
Speaker 6: They didn't.
00:17:02
Speaker 17: The margin only got to about four goals and the rest is history after that. Look the big story, though, fellows that will unfold and you gotta be careful how you frame it. But Elijah Hollins had in the end. We didn't think he had a touch, but Champion data went back and awarded him one touch. He didn't look right. He played sixty percent a game time. It was eighty percent up until three quarter time, and right, he just did not look like he was in a frame fit to play in any sport.
00:17:33
Speaker 6: Well, he looked like. He looked like he was under the influence of drugs. He looked like behaviorally like the poor souls you see twitching in Wayne ways off run. The more he did not look good. Yeah, Well it's not saying he was, but that's what he looked like. Yeah, And that's that's the speculation that is rampant on social media at the moment from fans, people concerned about his health.
00:17:58
Speaker 5: Yeah, concerned about him. Yeah, wondering the obvious question. If people in the crowd were taking videos and can see it, why did he ever get to take the field.
00:18:08
Speaker 6: Well, what are the teammates, the assistant coaches?
00:18:11
Speaker 17: The body language is just all wrong, wasn't it.
00:18:14
Speaker 6: There's a lot of people in IFL club who would be going or should be going, Hey, you're right there, mate, what's going on?
00:18:22
Speaker 5: Yeah?
00:18:22
Speaker 17: It was, Yeah, and it took away like it all sort of started, and people on social media, I'm sure have seen it. Popping up the videos of the balls nowhere near in the vicinity and his you know, running around with his hands in the air, and it was just weird, really strong.
00:18:39
Speaker 4: Quite disturbing.
00:18:40
Speaker 6: It quite disturbing. Yeah, yeah, disturbing is a really good way for it. Yeah, well, it's going to be a big story today. We'll see how Carlton responding. Yeah, what the AFL says about it as well, That's right. It could have been some sort of mental health or anxiety type of sure, because that has physical that can have physical symptoms as well.
00:19:01
Speaker 5: But there's a lot of works something which it's something out of the out of the ordinary.
00:19:05
Speaker 17: Yeah, great, Yeah, good on your readick tags boys.
00:19:10
Speaker 8: Knockdown bill two with metro homes, sell one and move on, keep the other as an investment.
00:19:16
Speaker 3: Metro Homes. They do it all for you.
00:19:19
Speaker 4: David Penburbie and Will Goodings five double a breakfast.
00:19:22
Speaker 5: Twenty two minutes to seven. How about this for a little bit of early fuel watch breaking news. There are petrol stations in Adelaide this morning that have unleaded with a one in front of it under two dollars a liter. If you go on Northeast Road, you might notice a dollar ninety nine point five.
00:19:40
Speaker 6: Now we Prince said tonight we're going to fill up like it's twenty twenty five.
00:19:43
Speaker 5: Well, I reckon if you're on Northeast Road this morning might be worth just ducking in and picking up that price. Will monitor the developments over the course of the morning and bring you few watches. We always do before nine, but dollar ninety nine point five on Northeast Road will other petrol stations fire hope. So lots of texts coming through with people wondering what it is that David might have said A seaword that's draw on a complaint I like Terry's. He said, I'm sure I heard you say cunit, primarily referring to a measurement in forestry equal to one hundred cubic feet. So thank you for that, Terry, I'm sure that's what it was.
00:20:19
Speaker 6: My favorite so far is Mark in larks bas Is with this absolutely riveting subject that we're dealing with this morning for the meat tray and as it is breakfast radio, let's get Penmeo in his happy place. Maybe that sea word was chili killz the go. Do you know what chili quilles are? No, So this is I reckon. It's the aside from the classic English big breakfast, you know, sausages, baked beans, black pudding, bacon, eggs, a lot. Chili quillez is the go to Mexican breakfast. It's fried corn chips that are covered in green chili sauce, sour cream, and then they've got a couple of fried eggs in it. It is the ultimate pick me up if you've had a big night. The best breakfast ever.
00:21:05
Speaker 5: I can't believe it's taken forty minutes for our listeners to seize on the food element of this, this meat trap.
00:21:14
Speaker 6: It's my sombrero to you, Mark for even knowing about chili kills. Best breakfast ever.
00:21:19
Speaker 5: Jim, what could have the word been?
00:21:21
Speaker 16: Well, I'm on the same line. I was thinking David's love for a cheese board and stuff or a dip. Maybe cracker. Maybe you had a maybe you had a bit sensitive and white supremist who thought you were being a racist towards him.
00:21:34
Speaker 5: Possible cracker. It's quite a woke email that we got. That's great.
00:21:40
Speaker 6: Jim.
00:21:40
Speaker 5: Can't call them crackers anymore than BISCUITSS used to call us crackers white people. That's right, Robin Summon in Park, Good.
00:21:47
Speaker 6: Morning, guys.
00:21:49
Speaker 14: I'm pretty sure I have You're mistaken, but I'm pretty sure I had the David's late country music could.
00:21:56
Speaker 6: Have been that, could John could have been that, you know, a big country music by the way. Oh no, I love Lucinda William Barryon.
00:22:03
Speaker 16: Oldinger, good morning, Good morning guys.
00:22:06
Speaker 20: I'm sure he's here country.
00:22:09
Speaker 5: Yeah, maybe, Barry, thank you about I see where people I see where people are going with this this meat trait at the moment. And look, what's the what is the what's the word in the English language for It's not assonance?
00:22:23
Speaker 1: What is it?
00:22:23
Speaker 5: When on a? Yeah? When is it not a?
00:22:28
Speaker 6: That's like when you make a sound sound like yeah, rowe is on a matter of payer.
00:22:34
Speaker 5: Sure, but when something that sounds like something else, which is not what we're trying to do here. There are twelve thousand words in the English language that start with C, at least more on the Chile exactly right. They don't need to rhyme with anything, all right. You don't need to stress the pronunciation for it to qualify for this book.
00:22:53
Speaker 6: Tray, the furthest we can get away from that word, the better.
00:22:56
Speaker 5: Yeah, I think so, Julian blake View, good.
00:22:58
Speaker 15: Morning, Good morning boys.
00:23:00
Speaker 21: The only other one I just think of is the word count, because sometimes you pronounce.
00:23:06
Speaker 19: Words a whole lot differently.
00:23:08
Speaker 4: David, Yeah, what incorrectly?
00:23:10
Speaker 6: You mean?
00:23:11
Speaker 15: Yeah? Completely, For instance, when you say, like I say Blair assol, right, and you always say Blair asshole. So the word but.
00:23:23
Speaker 7: The word count, yeah, maybe.
00:23:27
Speaker 21: Yeah.
00:23:28
Speaker 19: If you're talking about votes being counted.
00:23:33
Speaker 5: We will be talking about some votes that were missed after seven o'clock this morning.
00:23:37
Speaker 6: So somebody thought I might have been talking about Chris Bowen, Well they see, that would have been And if that name starts with see, yeah, we do get complaints whenever he comes up. Funnily enough, he did yesterday in the context of the refinery fire in Geelong, which is that's a fire. It's something we want to talk About's what he said.
00:23:54
Speaker 5: Something we want to talk about now to get a sense of what the impacts are going to be for motorists. Notwithstanding the fact we've just mentioned we've finally got unleaded for under two dollars a lead here in Adelaide. Kevin Morrison is an energy analyst and joins us on the line now Kevin, good morning, Thank you for your time. We heard the stats yesterday. Fifty percent of Victoria's fuel ten percent of the nation's come out of the Coryo refinery in Geelong. If even production is diminished, is that going to be something that we're going to see as retail consumers.
00:24:28
Speaker 9: Yeah, I think it will affect everybody. I mean, just as you pointed out, it supplies ten percent of Australia's fuel demand and so therefore with this production going offline and we don't know how long for, but nevertheless, it's going to tighten supply and that will affect everybody because you're going to have the Victorians, which accounts for about quarter of Australia's fuel demand each day, they're going to be looking for new fuel supplies, you know, given that it's not no longer come in from the Gelong refinery for the sign being.
00:25:04
Speaker 6: We were told earlier yesterday, Kevin that it sounded like most of the damage had been done to premium unleaded production at the refinery, in that regular unleaded and diesel We're going to be okay. Is that your understanding that that's the worst of what the impact was or is it actually broader than that.
00:25:22
Speaker 9: Well, yeah, it's still a little bit uncleared. I mean there's not an official statement yet from the company or from Fire Rescue Victoria. But what we seemed where the fire seems have taken place is around a blending competently because I mean, obviously these refineries are very complex engineering piece of equipment, and it seems like the blends. So when you're producing petrol, I mean, you can't just chuck the crude oil in and out pops petrol. You know, it's got to be blended a few other things, and one of those is gas is like a liquid petroleum gas they sort of to make the different grades of petrol, and so it seems to be around that area. So it's that sort of blending component. So whether Yeah, so the question is whether has it just affected that blending component and does it affect the whole of the petrol campaign? Because can you still make petrol without that sort of a blending component. That's that's what I'm just not clear about. So I can't sort of say definitively it's going to affect everything, but you're right, it doesn't. It seems to have affected the diesel or the or the jet fuel, but nevertheless, the petrol producing part of the refinery is its largest single component. It makes more petrol than anything else.
00:26:46
Speaker 5: Kevin, This is getting slightly away from the fire. But in the seven coverage of the story last night, there was one throwaway line that I thought was intriguing, especially given the political popularity of fuel sovereignty and every energy sovereignty in a sovereign refining capacity in Australia at the moment, and it was that even if the jet fuel component came offline, quantas would be fine because they actually source all their jet fuel internationally. What would how largest carrier get jet fuel from somewhere other than a place in Australia that's refining it.
00:27:22
Speaker 9: Yeah, I'm not sure that because particularly with the Geelong refinery, I mean that that supply is most of the jet fuel to Melbourne Airport. So I find that sort of part, you know, maybe the case. And I say, like in the New South Wales in Sydney where the state no longer has any refinery, so all of the jet fuel there would be imported, so certainly, and the same for the perfect airport and Adelaide too so so yes, a number of airports would be all predominantly imported jet fuel, but I kind of hard be the case for both Melbourne and Brisbane where we still to refinery.
00:28:01
Speaker 5: Is it like some other you know, labor intensive markets in Australia where it costs more to produce it in Australia than it does in other places overseas.
00:28:12
Speaker 9: Well, that was the case. And look, I know there's been a lot of discussions about what, you know, why do we shut down all these refineries, But you know, there's there's three factors that happened. One our domestic oil production, so the oord that we are extracting out of the ground, that that's fallen dramastically. It's it's simply, you know, we're pretty similar to the rest of the Asia Pacific where we don't We're good at finding gas, but we're not so good at finding oil and so that's why we're increasing dependent on imports to The refineries are all very old and like what we see with the Geelong run that you know, it's it's seventy years old, whereas you know, newer refineries, bigger refineries, So it was a sort of cheaper to produce the oil products in the place like Singapore and South Korea, et cetera. And you know, the other thing that was happening is what we were consuming was changing. So all of the refineries are largely built to refine to produce petrol, whereas we're now much more of a diesel drive in nation, and so we would have had to have made major investment in producing diesel, but still importing the oil, so our energy security wouldn't have been any different. We were just being imported more crude oil rather than the finished product.
00:29:34
Speaker 5: Yeah, that's very interesting, Kevin, thank you for that. Kevin Morrison, energy analyst on the fallout from the fire yesterday, which I'll tell you what was something the burn towarve ours. It sounds like we've gotten off lighter than we were certainly wondering about during the morning yesterday. Let's talk about the wather. Ellie Matthews at the Bureau of Meteorology joins us body.
00:29:51
Speaker 19: Ellie, morning, David, and we were happy Friday Friday.
00:29:55
Speaker 5: It is indeed, how is Friday on the weekend looking weatherwise?
00:29:59
Speaker 19: Yeah, well, the minimum temperature last night for Adelaide got down to eleven point nine degrees. It's currently thirteen degrees, but we are expecting below average maximum temperature today of twenty one degrees. There's a been a low cloud about with some south to southeastly is even maintaining a little bit of light shower activity into some of the more southern facing coasts around the Florio and even up into some of those eastern sides of the Mount Lofty Ranges. But as today goes on, there could be steal some isolated showers about those parts. Generally, Adelaide itself will stay dry today, and like I mentioned, those temperatures below average for today, But by the time we head into tomorrow, this high pressure ridge does move away from the state and generally we start to see some more northeast to northerly winds developing ahead of a trough that passes later in the weekend. So those northerly winds will bring generally some more clearer skies and warmer temperatures into Saturday. So we're looking at a sunny top of twenty five degrees for Adelaide for your Saturday, and like I said, those normal will be ahead of a trough that will move over the central districts in Adelaide area by the time we get into Sunday morning now that could bring a possible shower or to or even the chances of some thunderstorm activity over Adelaide. Generally totals on rainfall totals that is looking less than a few millimeters and maybe very hit or miss as to if you see any showers during that Sunday morning period.
00:31:29
Speaker 6: Good stuff, Ellie, have a great weekend. Thanks for that.
00:31:31
Speaker 5: Ellie.
00:31:32
Speaker 6: Methew's there from the Bureau of Meteorology.
00:31:34
Speaker 5: Send you Constable Holly Frisbee from Sapole also on the line. Holy good morning to you. A Victorian truck driver has been arrested.
00:31:42
Speaker 22: Yeah, good morning, David. Will some great work by our Heavy Vehicle Enforcement Unit members yesterday. So the members initially stopped a B double truck at Wingfield yesterday morning at the time it will be alleged the driver failed to present a work diary and made false statements about the work he was carrying out. Subsequent identified that he had traveled from Melbourne to Adelaide overnight and continue to work throughout the day, presenting a significant fatigue risk not only to himself but to other road users. The driver was then directed to cease work immediately by police. However, he continued to drive and was intercepted by police a second time on the Southeastern Freeway at Petwood yesterday. The twenty three year old Victorian man was arrested and charged with making a false statement to an authorized officer, failing to take required rests, exceeding work hours, and disobeying a direction. He was bailed to appear in the Adelaide by Distraitsuccord at a later date.
00:32:36
Speaker 6: Coraichi sounds like before let's try, you should be on the roads, Holly. Also suspicious car fire at Kibben Park overnight.
00:32:44
Speaker 22: Yeah just after midnight police and MFS were called to Walter Street by reports of a BMW on fire. Fire crews quickly extinguished the blaze, not before damage was called to a nearby Toyota crime scene investigators will be in attendance to determine the cause of that fire later this morning, and we do ask anyone who may have been witnessed or had CCTV or dash can to contact crime Stoppers on one eight hundred, triple three.
00:33:05
Speaker 7: Triple zero.
00:33:06
Speaker 6: Good stuff, Holly, seeing you, Constable Holly Frusbee there from Saphole.
00:33:11
Speaker 8: Knockdown Build two with Metro homes, sell one and move on, keep the other as an investment Metro Homes.
00:33:18
Speaker 3: They do it all for you.
00:33:20
Speaker 4: Dvid Penburbe and Will Goodings five double a Breakfast, four to seven.
00:33:25
Speaker 5: It was about this time yesterday we spoke with wall Street, the Journal sports reporter, regarding some rife rumors about the future of live golf. The Saudi Public Investment Fund shifting priorities away from things that weren't generating income for the Saudis, and it felt like live golf was very much something that was going to be coming to an abrupt end. Some speculated even this weekend's the now underway tournament in Mexico might be the last Live golf quickly confirmed that the twenty twenty six season would continue. No assurances beyond that, so it's seems still very, very shaky the future of live golf, which here in Adelaide brings into question the North Adelaide Golf Club redevelopment, which, in a lot of people's minds is predicated on the rivers of golf that come with live golf coming to Adelaide. People flying into the state, staying in South Australian Adelaide hotels and enjoying four days of golfing action well ourn ext guest says there's a case for the North Adelaide Golf Club upgrade that has nothing to do with live golf. Kevin Norton is the president of the North Adelaide Golf Club.
00:34:31
Speaker 6: Kevin, good morning to you, y fellas so Kevin, I'm a regular hacker at North Adelaide. In the absence of live golf, what's the argument for spending so much money doing it up?
00:34:42
Speaker 14: If you develop a course to an international standard as well as embrace all the changes in global golf, you can put together a business case which says that a public golf course in a location like that can succeed on many levels. We've seen with live golf, for example, that if you've got the right approach to trying to attract an international event, and if you conduct the international event as well as the South Australian government has at Grain, we can live over the last four iterations. Then you can go out there into the marketplace and you can chase national and international events that give you a chance to build the course's reputation and also that generates some economic activity both on the course and in the surrounding areas, in this case the CBD. If you can then add to it as premier Mountamascus has just done. If you can add to it concepts of modern driving range, digital golf facility, executive short course golf of nine holes plus the eighteen hole International standard course, then you've got something that stands on its own and can attract the occasional flagship event to make the whole thing work.
00:36:08
Speaker 6: How much work has already been done anyway? Is there much that's happened yet?
00:36:12
Speaker 14: Well, a lot has happened in terms of the design work to have a construction ready to start constructional comments with today Friday. I think construction starts in about nine days time. Construction staff for going through training courses on site for example next week for occupational health and safety, all those sorts of things, and that's all under the auspices of the state government. And there's also a kind of transition of control of the site from the Adelaide City Council to the state government that happens on twenty seven as well, So you'll see construction activity happen shortly. But the amount of planning work that has gone into this is amazing. The design were in the initial stages of what the main course will look like, but then also the design and construct work. It's been very extensively and carefully planned. So it's going to be a cracker.
00:37:13
Speaker 6: Kevin Norton, the North Adelai Golf Club President, thank you for joining us.
00:37:16
Speaker 5: Love to get your thoughts on that, folks, A double two to three double double A and Texas on zero four eight zero eight thirteen ninety five as well. So we'll take some more metre Friday entries in just a moment. Then after seven o'clock this morning, we'll wrap the last week in federal politics with Michael Packy and in just a moment your questions answered when it comes to this little question of what happens when a box of votes is found in a seat decided by just a handful Clem McIntire.
00:37:43
Speaker 8: Next, knockdown Bill two with Metro Homes, Sell one and move on, keep the other as an investment.
00:37:52
Speaker 3: Metro Homes. They do it all for you.
00:37:54
Speaker 4: Deevid Ben Burbe and Will Goodings five double a.
00:37:58
Speaker 5: Breakfast seven, Good morning to you're joining us for the first time. There's Friday, the seventeenth of April looks a bit cloudy out there at the moment. It is going to be.
00:38:07
Speaker 6: A picture perfect April weekend in Adelaide.
00:38:11
Speaker 5: I mean absolutely made magnificent tomorrow and over the course of the next few days into next week as well.
00:38:16
Speaker 6: Not a good s ANFL games on this weekend. Sturt Torrens at the Home of Football on Sunday. It's going to be good. You go, and then of course the AFL's on tomorrow night too. Adelaide Oble crows, we're interested in that here here on five double A as well.
00:38:29
Speaker 5: If you want to help us wake Adelaide up this morning, we're going to play a little game we like to call hit the High Note this half hour. You can get calling right now eight double two three double O double oh. If you've heard it, you know the gig. If you haven't, it's as simple as this. We play a little bit of music that features a high note. We play it for you, then we get you to sing it for us, and if you manage to give it your best, you're getting tickets to this wonderful State Opera show. For the show is Cinderella by the State up but they're doing four shows. You can get to get the State opera dot com dot are you or you can hit the high notes get calling now eight double two three double oh.
00:39:03
Speaker 6: Well, yesterday, with a degree of trepidation, we brought were breaking at eight. That's outd too bizarre to believe, But I'd been told reliably that a box of several hundred votes that were cast in a seat neighboring the seat of Narunga, which invited speculation that as ebsent t votes declaration votes, they could potentially include votes that were cast in the neighboring seat of Narranga. Well, as it happened, every word of that was true. A box had been overlooked. It contained some six hundred and sixty odd votes. Eighty one of those votes were cast for the seat of Narranga, Narunga being the seat where One Nation candidate Shantil Thomas succeeded by just fifty eight votes against the Liberal candidate. Well, if seventy of the eighty one votes there that were eligible were to transfer again shan Tell Thomas back to the Liberal Party, the Liberal Party could argue that it won the seat. It would have to be it would, I mean, based on the counter votes, it will have won the seat. Well, the seat's already been declared. That's right, so you have to get super complicated and it goes to court.
00:40:14
Speaker 5: At that point in time.
00:40:15
Speaker 6: Yeah.
00:40:15
Speaker 5: Well, but they need fifty nine of those eighty one votes to change to go their way, so they need to break seventy two percent to the liberals. There wasn't a single booth where they're where that happened, so I think.
00:40:30
Speaker 6: Outside of brag where that would have happened.
00:40:32
Speaker 5: Yeah, that's right.
00:40:33
Speaker 6: Our next guest Carlos Krember, friend of the program, long standing caller, one nation state president and Carlos, can I just ask mate, with your background as a builder, have you thought about maybe building a house in you're pointentially, given the amount of time you've spent there over the last month.
00:40:48
Speaker 20: Oh, good morning, lads. This election has been like a box of chocolates. You never know what you're going to get. Yeah, it's an interesting turn of events. But I'll be going there today on the job site to scrutiny to make sure that everything's above board. But we're very confident that nothing's going to change.
00:41:06
Speaker 1: It is.
00:41:06
Speaker 6: It's a weird situation, though, isn't it. Carlos, When when when? Because we spoke off here about it yesterday too, texting back and forth. And what was your reaction when you heard it?
00:41:17
Speaker 1: Oh?
00:41:17
Speaker 20: Well, obviously the first I heard of it was on your radio program on the way into work, and I was sort of shaking my head. But you know, like, if you look at the whole election, there's been a lot of problems, and I think this is what a parliamentary inquiry with a full set of a good set of terms of reference will actually saw all this out. I don't want to throw the Electoral Commission under the bus. I think there's a lot of questions that need to be answered. I think we need to follow the process and then just make sure it never happens again.
00:41:44
Speaker 6: Does it engender suspicion that I mean, I don't want to sound like, you know, Donald Trump after it costs to Joe Biden, but you hear about hang, I know, we found another box. You can understand people going, well, have you found all the boxes?
00:41:58
Speaker 20: And look, that's one thing that I've been getting a lot from even some of the candidates that ran for us, a lot of people in the community, and that is the last thing we need is to lose trust in the electual process. I mean, it never works out well for any country when they don't trust the process. So, as I said, a parliamentary inquiry should get to the bottom of this, and I would hope that the Labor Party would support it because ultimately, even though there are at an arm's lengths from the Electoral Commission, they are they do do the funding and I don't think it's from what I've spoken to some of the Electoral Commission people, I don't think the funding was adequate.
00:42:33
Speaker 6: Oh sorry, well, Carlos was going to say, we see your leader Cory Beard quoted in the paper this morning saying that you've abandoned your bid to form the official opposition.
00:42:41
Speaker 5: That won't be happening before parliament. Did you chat with every independent to gauge their interest in perhaps working with you to become the opposition.
00:42:50
Speaker 20: Oh? Look, I didn't chat with any of the independence. That was Corey's job as the leader and he'll do what's in the best interest of the state and the party. But I'm just getting ready to, you know, get back into parliament. I mean, I'm still on a job site now, so you know, I've had a lot of querius as to while we're not doing anything. Well, I'm not actually getting paid by the taxpayer at the moment. I'm actually waiting for concrete to rock up to one of my jobs. So you know, when that time comes, you know, we will be ready and we will be good to go, and we'll be the best we can and we'll be a really strong voice of opposition in goards Australia. Regardless of whether it's the official term or not. We will be pushing back on this government because there's a lot to push back on.
00:43:28
Speaker 5: So is this your last building site then, Carlos.
00:43:32
Speaker 20: Well, yeah, I think it is, even though you know, when you consider of all the people that probably shouldn't give up their job to go into parliament, me being a builder, wig not exactly. You know, we're not running with a lot of them, so that'll be one less guy that's going to be building houses. But look, I think there's a lot we can do from a parliamentary point to actually make housing more affordable and more houses being built. And that's one of the things that's going to be one of my biggest focuses because like right now, we have a generation of youth that will never own a home in their own country and that's just unacceptable.
00:44:03
Speaker 6: Good on your callous Karlos Karremrody's way back to the Yorks. Yet again, we've got Clem McIntyre, Adelaide University Emeritus Professor of Politics on the line for this as well, and claim, good morning. It's a weird situation this one, isn't it.
00:44:17
Speaker 13: Yes, that's putting it mildly. It's not the sort of thing you expect. But as you've just heard that, we were a few problems through the electoral process on election day in terms of booths opening late so on, and this appears to be yet another little misstep by the Commission, which is a concern. But look, I don't think we should entertain for a minute. And it's this suspicion of boxes going missing on a deliberate basis. I just I don't give that any credibility.
00:44:50
Speaker 6: Yeah, but for it happened though, I mean, it's not corruption, but it's hard not to described as kind of incompetent.
00:44:59
Speaker 13: Yeah, it's not a good look, there's no doubt about that. But to suggest its corruption would be to imply that whoever misplaced the boxes knew the contents of the vote. Because if I suddenly find a box of votes and it turns the election around, then I'm not going to hide them unless I know what the outcome is going to be. And there's no way that any electoral official would know how those votes have been cast. And I think the numbers we're dealing with are so small that the chance of turning the election result around is very slight. It's important that they're counted and that we get an accurate reflection of what the voters genuinely wanted. But I think all indications are this is an oversight and the mistake nothing more serious than now that in itself is a concern, and the review that takes place after every election, doubtless this time will be slightly more challenging and testing for the Electoral Commission that it might otherwise have been.
00:46:08
Speaker 6: As mathematically unlikely as a change of polling leader. Is do we have a precedent for a declared winner having their position overturned and what's the mechanism by which that would actually have to happen?
00:46:23
Speaker 4: Well.
00:46:23
Speaker 13: The nearest president I can think of is I think it was twenty thirteen in the West Australian Senate election, when a couple of thousand Senate votes were found and look, I haven't gone back and looked at the figures exactly, but from memory that did overturn a result. I think one of the very minor parties had just got out of the line and the extra votes reversed that. I can't think of an example in South Australia it's happened. But my understanding, I'm not trying to be an expert on this, but my understanding is that the result has formerly been declared and that the One Nation candidate, Chantel Thomas has declared to be the winner, and the count that will take place today the Electoral Commission is effectively looking and saying, had we counted all the votes, would that result be the same. Now, Clearly, if the result is the same, then there's no need to do anything other than make some inquiries as to why the ballot box were those votes went missing. If, on the other hand, in the unlikely case that the Liberals pick up enough votes to turn the election around, then I would guess the result would be referred to the Court of Disputed Returns and that that's effectively judge of the Supreme Court who sits in hears cases from the Electoral Commission and any interested parties are I political parties and would make a determination either to reverse the result or to call for a fresh election.
00:48:00
Speaker 6: Yeah, I reckon that would be the most technically stupid thing in the world the Liberal Party could agitate for. Thinking back to when Jackie Kelly became an MP in Western Sydney in the Howard era, when ross Free was the sitting Labor member after the ninety six election loss by Keating to John Howard, and the Labor tried to dud Jackie Kelly on a technicality that she was a dual New Zealand citizen and they had a by election, and she ran on the campaign slogan effectively of I've been martyred and persecuted by the ALP, and her vote went up, became a safe seat for John Howard. She was the pinup girl for what were known as the Howard Battlers, the mortgagee Belt of Penrith and so forth. So you know, with one nation really garnering that sense of the major parties ganging up on us if they had a bilection there sh until Thomas. I reckon she'd win it by ten percent, not fifty eight votes.
00:49:01
Speaker 13: I suspect you might be right. So, you know, the only hope that the Liberal Party would have would be that the court of this bit of returns would simply reverse the result. But look, we're getting into the grounds of some far fitch speculator.
00:49:18
Speaker 4: We are.
00:49:19
Speaker 13: We've got I think it's eighty one votes that are to be added to the count, and the Liberals need to pick up, you know, sort of ninety percent of those in order to turn the result around. Now, the chances of the those votes falling that way, given the rest of the election are pretty slight.
00:49:36
Speaker 6: Well, yeah, exactly. Great analysis has always claim Professor Clem mcintie from Adelaide University. Thank you.
00:49:42
Speaker 5: It's the election that simply will not die nineteen after seef And we're going to hit the high note on the other side of this break if you'd like to sing for your supper or in this case, tickets to see Cinderella by the State Opera Company. Get calling now eight double two to three double O double oh is the number we're hitting the high note.
00:49:58
Speaker 8: Next, knockdown Bill two with metro homes, Sell one and move on keep the other as an investment. Metro Homes they do it all for.
00:50:08
Speaker 4: You deepd Penberthy and Will Goodings five double a breakfast.
00:50:14
Speaker 5: Twenty three minutes after seven. Well, a bit like the Electoral Commission. We've had a look around and we found a box of Cinderella tickets, so we actually have more than one double to give away down there. Yeah, we found amazing no need to count them, but we've got more. So if you want to hit the high note, you are getting along to this great show. Eight double two to three double O, double O. Get calling right now, hit the high note and you can be going on to see cinderell at by the State Opera of South Australia with a VP double pass. 00:53:21
Speaker 6: So when you asked you're a big bon Jovi fan. I think the answer is no.
00:53:28

00:54:17
Speaker 5: So we mis gendered two of our guests and someone rang in who's never heard upon Juffy. You can shoot that five minutes already.
00:54:30
Speaker 4: Tim jinniber on five double a breakfast.
00:54:36
Speaker 5: He's been known to build out a shoot himself at times. Timmy g good morning to him.
00:54:41
Speaker 10: Good morning fellas. Yeah, I'm still laughing. I sort of had an image of a jazz scatman just a little bit.
00:54:51
Speaker 5: My favorite text Scott text is boys dead sit if you closed your eyes. It was like John was.
00:54:57
Speaker 10: Right, Oh God, love the boys. I've got a big weekend a head of course, a footy. You know, we've had a I would say an oxygen sapping week with the Butter's trial and the like. So the appeal will go ahead Monday and we'll go through more of that ridiculous anto mind that's been happening. So less said about that, the better I reckon after this week.
00:55:26
Speaker 6: But you know, can I just want to say one thing about it what Matthew richards Matthew Richardson said yesterday. I thought it was exactly what Will and I were saying. This could have been handled maturely in a non legalistic way. Now the fast is going to drag on into next week.
00:55:43
Speaker 10: Yeah, spot on, spot on, And it's I always say the end depends on the beginning. And I reckon the whole thing. It has been brought about by the AFL not following their own rules about the optics of the game and allowing and I'm part of work for a betting agency, which is just not a good look. So you know, they can say what they like about I know he's not sensitive to that, but place you know those words. I mean, if you're done for an abuse, which part of any of those sentences that supposedly were said is abuse? Yeah, yeah, yeah, So there's been a nightmare, no doubt about that. Selection of course goes on the Adelaide coast, having to make four changes and of course again once again putting out all of our deepest adolences to the Dawson's family as they go through this terrible time. And I can't stress enough, you know, having been involved last September with Suicide Awareness Week, just how important it is to get help. If you're feeling any any any way down at all, please ring Lifeline third eleven fourteen. So get on to that. Yeah, So we've got a big week ahead of us. As far as the footy Ghostport Adelaide or experiment with two rucks which are Byzantini, I'm excited about seeing that against a very informal Awthorm team, so they'll be having a crack at that. But also the live golf guys. Interesting you're talking to the North Adelaide president there. I had time mar the acting premier yesterday and that sounds like they're just going ahead regardless whether the live golf is happening or not. So it sounds like they want that to go ahead because they want to track golf regardless of what tournament it is. So that's that's the way it sounded like to me. So we'll see how that goes. And on the back of that, as we go to the seven thirty headlines, I think your c word, mate, you might have been thinking of the golf course and the curator. That's what you might have made.
00:57:44
Speaker 16: If I get you out of that.
00:57:54
Speaker 4: Jim jinniber On, fine, double a breakfast.
00:57:59
Speaker 6: I'm glad you carried that segment because I was gone. Scott's tech folks, well you're going to play Allen again. The text line is almost exploded with requests can we please hear Allen again? Don't worry, We're gonna play it.
00:58:12
Speaker 5: Scott's texts broke me away, but I've never lost it in the history of doing this program. Oh my god. All right, we're gonna get pull ourselves together. And took federal politics with Michael Becky Nick.
00:58:23
Speaker 6: He sounded like a.
00:58:24
Speaker 1: Big bond jav Guy Allen not really, no, no, no.
00:58:36
Speaker 8: Lockdown Bill two with Metro Holmes, Tell one and move on, keeping as a Metro Holmes.
00:58:43
Speaker 4: They do it all.
00:58:48
Speaker 5: Do it to me magnificent. We we we we gave out on tickets for that. We're gonna make to give away this morning thanks to the great people at good Quality Meats. We're asking you based on some feedback We're received some negative feedback David, about your use of a sea word.
00:59:11
Speaker 6: I can read it again.
00:59:12
Speaker 5: We're read it again just to read out the scene.
00:59:14
Speaker 6: Jay Rasham in Wayville sent me a postcard. David Penberthy misspelled my name. Thank you with an M. How disgusting you are using the sea word on radio this morning, seventh and fourth. Grow up, David, you are neither smart nor funny. So with big thanks to our great mate Dave and the team at Goodwood Quality Meets. Even though the criticism is based on a completely specious secession that I would ever use such a terrible word, well were wondering. We're giving the benefit the person, the benefit of the doubt and asking them what sea word might have been.
00:59:47
Speaker 5: There's twelve thousand of them. We've leart twelve to fourteen thousand of them be in the English language. About twenty of them have been mentioned this morning. A lot of them food stuff that David likes. You like the prime candidates. I would have thought Chipotle. Haven't had Chipotle?
01:00:01
Speaker 6: Yeah, we haven't yet. Costa and mottle Park good morning.
01:00:04
Speaker 3: Hi.
01:00:05
Speaker 18: Well, I was thinking that.
01:00:07
Speaker 16: I mean, David's got a love for language and linguistics, and I'm wondering whether he may have mentioned anything about cunning linguistics.
01:00:14
Speaker 6: Yeah, well no I didn't, but but it's worth throwing it into the mix.
01:00:19
Speaker 5: Cos No, no, he did not. Costa, Thank you.
01:00:23
Speaker 6: They do do a good Churisso, a good wood quality. Mates.
01:00:27
Speaker 5: I can't believe, ladies and gentlemen right in front of you. It's been sitting there all morning. We've got an hour and forty two minutes in the biggest running joke in the program's history is David's love of Cherizzo. No one's mentioned it.
01:00:39
Speaker 6: My love of Dave's Churisso too. They've won an award for their Churisto good wood quality. Mates. There you go, exactly, King Gradient and Jumbal liar Michael Packy's.
01:00:48
Speaker 5: Listening and thinking, what the hell is the going on this morning? It's it's it's you know, some fridays, it's more Fridays than other Fridays, and it's it's the most Friday. Michael Packy nine Radios National Political Editor, Good morning to.
01:00:58
Speaker 11: You, Good morning, how are you?
01:01:00
Speaker 6: We're good, Thank you pack So we've had the weird sort of imagery this week of Anthony alb An easy scaring Southeast Asia with Jerry Can saying, has anybody got any spare petrol? And meanwhile Chris Bowen says, we don't really need.
01:01:14
Speaker 11: Any that's right, And at the same time you have a major fire at one of the few refineries that we have left that's trying to produce this petrol, diesel and jets. You're look, it is interesting. I suppose that what I look. The main thing I find quite interesting of this time. We normally talk about the budget, and I think that all of the budget stuff's essentially been thrown out the window because they're trying to secure these duel supplies. So, as you say, the Prime Minister was in Brunei and Malaysia this week. He actually cut his trip short to Malaysia and traveled overnight back to Australia and he's currently at the Geelong plant in Victoria, that Viva plant, which are caught by yesterday trying to reassure people that petrol supplies won't be impacted. Look, I do think he has ratified these deals with Brunei and Malaysia and last week with Singapore to ensure that Australia is at the top of the list when it comes to getting these fuel exports, and essentially what he's leveraged is our exports to them. So saying to Singapore and Malaysia, well, unless you put us at the front of the queue to make sure we still get these petrol, diesels and diesel supplies, you know, maybe we might tighten the screw on gas exports, and with Brunei, we might tighten the screw on some of your food exports. So essentially he's had to leverage some of the trade that we do with these countries to ensure that we are continuing to get some of this fuel through. But clearly, I think that the mixed messaging that you're also seeing as you're quite rightly setting the intro there of the Prime Minister trying to secure these supplies while the Energy Ministry is saying, oh, there really isn't much of a problem. I think that that's what's jarring for a lot of people, especially in the regions.
01:03:04
Speaker 5: Against that backdrop. Michael, what's your evaluation on how the opposition's immigration policy is cut through?
01:03:12
Speaker 11: Look, Look, it's interesting you say that because I thought it was a bit weird that they decided to do it this week when everyone is when the focus is on fuel security. It just seemed like this immigration policy, it's only the first phase of the immigration policy that they've elite the Oppositions released just seemed to come out of nowhere. And look, I think in the end, what Angus Taylor's had to do here, it's had to release some sort of policy because he's got this Faro by election in regional New South Wales coming up in just a few weeks time, and he obviously thinks he needs to get that out there and start putting a bit of meat on the bone in what the Liberal Party and the Coalition more broadly stand for. What I think will be interesting is that he's in Farah today and tomorrow he's campaigning there and obviously dis immigration plan you will obviously form a part of it. Given that they're the party's facing such a threat from one nation, who could win that seed of Farah. The focus of it was Australian values, but I don't know that he really outlined what these Australian values are meant to be other than the obvious that, you know, we want anyone that comes to Australia that they you know, they obey the laws of the country, and that if they don't obey the laws of the country, that can be deported, or you know that people are a much more proficient with the English language. So that's what it just seems to center around. And it was interesting that he's had to hit back this morning Angus Taylor. That is because he had Paul Keating overnight that released a statement that essentially called the opposition's policy you know, racist and that the Liberal Party is just simply pandering to one nation. Well, I think that that people within the Liberal Party will admit that, they'll admit that they need to pander to one nation voters to try and get them back into the Liberal camp.
01:05:02
Speaker 6: Yeah. I don't think technically the limbs would have been too worried that Keating came out in trademark Keating style.
01:05:10
Speaker 11: No, I don't think so. I don't think so either. I mean, like he gave him a chance put the spotlight on the policy again, and it gave Angus Taylor the chance to get out there and try and defend it. But I do think that the key issue that people want to know is is that is there going to be a reduction in the immigration rate, what's that reduction going to look like? And when are you going to announce that reduction? All this other stuff about Australian value and so forth and deporting people. Look, I think that people want to know that what you're going to do if you're elected into government, But I think some of that stuff does already happen. If we're going to be fair income about it. I do think it's more about what is going to be your immigration number? You know, by how much you're going to reduce the immigration rate? And will that actually help small businesses? How are you going to help them if they need staff? And also how is that also going to help your housing policy as well? How age care feed into housing and aged care? That's exactly right. How if you're going to reduce the number, that's fine. People are worried about the immigration rate, but how are all these other issues also going to be addressed? I think that that's where they've really got to do a little bit more explaining rather than pushing out motherhood statements.
01:06:24
Speaker 6: Yeah, yeah, totally great stuff as always Pack Michael Packing nine Radio National political editor. Hey, we should apologize to Paul from Pennington. We found this buried in the mountain of text we received, Paul says. Gents. I messaged at six forty one am and I said Trusso, all.
01:06:41
Speaker 5: Right, Paul, you're forgiven everyone else. Where have you been on the Charizou question this morning?
01:06:46
Speaker 6: I'll tell you what Matt in Everson gardens using this categories where all he gets three points because his is chili con Carney, Well, there you go, cat in there that.
01:06:54
Speaker 5: Donald Trump's not happy with Australia. He made the point again overnight on Australia.
01:06:58
Speaker 6: Mister President, you are us for three and a half percent.
01:07:01
Speaker 4: Increase like five percent you did with NATO. Australia has only.
01:07:05
Speaker 6: Gone to three percent.
01:07:06
Speaker 4: Are you satisfied with that precision?
01:07:08
Speaker 20: Would you?
01:07:08
Speaker 14: I'm not happier with Australia because they were not difficult, because they were not there when we asked them to be there.
01:07:14
Speaker 4: So Australia, if you asked for Australia was another one.
01:07:16
Speaker 6: They were not there happy to do.
01:07:18
Speaker 13: With harmonies, the harmless.
01:07:19
Speaker 1: What do you mean, I'm not happy?
01:07:22
Speaker 6: I'm not happy.
01:07:23
Speaker 5: Now that's Donald Trump overnight. Now. The three percent, three point five percent is in relation to the Defense Strategic Review that was released yesterday, and that that makes that really cuts through a lot of the noise. I read a fair bit of that yesterday. The Strategic Review, it comes out every year, talks about strategic priorities, where the spending is going to be and whatnot. I think there are a lot of people someone has to listen, going, oh, the relationship with the US is weakening, We're looking to other alternatives. What's the what's the thinking going on in the upper echelnes of the Australian government. You read the Defense Strategic Review, I reckon the terms United States or Great Power Alliance or some phrasing like that has mentioned five thousand times. The US is the Australian alliance structure and is our defense posture. It is the defense strategy and it remains to this day. There is nothing in that document that suggests we are any less or aiming to be any less reliant. There's some sort of verbiage that goes to you.
01:08:19
Speaker 6: They still think in Washington, this is this is it.
01:08:22
Speaker 5: That's why I thought that it was so interesting to hear Donald Trump say that overnight, given we've just put out our our defense big strategic review that's going to govern this deteriorating strategic environment over the next decade, and all of it's about the United States. Except the bloke in the White House right now, he's not He's not particularly happy with us. He's for a longer term.
01:08:41
Speaker 6: How is this guy happy with now? So he really hates Spain, he thinks French are hopeless, doesn't really like the English, thinks Australia, the Germans, Germans are hopeless. He's having a fight Canada, Italy, Canada, the Danes. He's thought about invading Mexico, Greenland. He has knocked off the government in Venezuela. He was gonna shut down Columbia. Well, I mean, the only guy they really seemed to like lost the election in Hungary on the weekend, even though Jade Evans was their campaigning for him. So are we in? Are we actually in esteemed company? I e? The rest of the planet? But this plot, I actually think I've totally changed my view in the last couple of weeks. I actually think he's actually insane. It's been a ratic and a Messianic complex, and I think from the assassination attempt where he said God Allah pulp fiction, God stepped in and stopped that bullet, I actually think he thinks he's God on Earth.
01:09:50
Speaker 5: Well to that end the other did you mention in amongst the States, he's got an issue with Vatican City. Yeah, it's a good problem with the Pope.
01:09:59
Speaker 6: Yeah. I just want to at some point whether Vance and Rubio will say, we're going to do something about this Blake, make him goin have a bit of a lie down for a while.
01:10:10
Speaker 5: We the voter's going to have their say in November with the midterm elections. Let's go to Hazelwood Park. Kurt, you're going to meet Trey Friday entry for us.
01:10:18
Speaker 24: Oh, absolutely, good morning, gentlemen.
01:10:20
Speaker 14: This one I had probably suits David all week.
01:10:24
Speaker 19: I reckon it's a caca.
01:10:25
Speaker 16: Fuego, which my understanding is a swaggering boaster or.
01:10:29
Speaker 6: A person with a fire is temperaug in Spanish. That means someone who poohs fire. I that is a great entry. I wish the was about that sounds excellent, sounds, David.
01:10:47
Speaker 8: Said, knockdown bill two with Metro Homes, sell one and move on, keep the other as an investment.
01:10:55
Speaker 3: Metro Homes. They do it all for.
01:10:57
Speaker 4: You, Deevid Penberthy and Will Gooding five double a breakfast, four.

We're worrying what it might have been for that. We're enlisting your help on the for the meat tray this morning. What's the sea word that David might have said? Brendan in Burnside, good morning.
01:11:21
Speaker 24: I don't know if you had a lot of momentary mental laps or loss of self control, he might have dropped the Collingwood on us.
01:11:31
Speaker 5: Very good, Brandon Collingwood delivery had everyone nervous in the studio for a moment.
01:11:35
Speaker 6: There his finger over the dumb bull.
01:11:37

01:11:44
Speaker 6: Thank you Brent.
01:11:45
Speaker 20: That's good.
01:11:46
Speaker 12: I was thinking with David's love of food and cooking Copo pronounces correctly. He might have said culinary, colary, culinary.
01:11:58
Speaker 6: Yeah, yeah, yeah, absolutely, maybe I did culinary.
01:12:02
Speaker 5: The Statistically, all the food entries are the most likely to have been true. Tony and Heinmarsh, good morning.
01:12:09
Speaker 9: Oh yeah, lots of food based entries. But the sea word at any time a year has got to be Christmas.
01:12:16
Speaker 6: Yeah, Christmas. Yep, that we've have been talking about Christmas.
01:12:19
Speaker 5: Maybe that's the complaint talking about Christmas in April.
01:12:22
Speaker 6: Move on exactly, Jimmy and Sawsbury, Good morning, Groops. They're probably feeling crook. I think Garden supporters, let's not. Let's not add to their woes by calling them names.
01:12:39
Speaker 5: You know, Phil Curry hates Twitter. He posts his articles and doesn't engage in it. Last night he was driven to it by the Carlton Football Club and shared his thoughts. I saw so I knew he was really upset last night. We chat, We'll chat with Field next week.
01:12:54
Speaker 6: Yeah. I just think they've got to be careful with this, this player. I don't. I know a lot of people are suspecting that it might be drug related, but it could have It could have been like a psychiatric an episode thing. Yeah too, a bit.
01:13:09
Speaker 5: Speculation regarding some fans shot video of erratic behavior from a large.
01:13:14
Speaker 6: He looks like someone who's under the influence of something, but it could also be an anxiety thing. Who knows.
01:13:21
Speaker 5: Yeah, one touch in as Rehny said, he played about eighty percent of the game up to the third quarter and didn't get near it. All right, two minutes away, we can We'll take some more meat tray Friday entries. In fact, we might take one more before we go to the break. Paul in Modbury Heights is just called in morning.
01:13:36
Speaker 18: Paul, Morning boys. I wonder if Dave really gives the Continental over.
01:13:42
Speaker 6: It's a good it's a good term to use.
01:13:46
Speaker 5: I don't give a Continental. I like that one.
01:13:49
Speaker 6: Paul.
01:13:49
Speaker 5: That's a good entry for the meat tray. You're in the running for the goodwood quality meets meat tray. Now we're going to take a break five double A news is coming up breaking in eight not too far away, and then in the last hour, so it's a giveaway central. We're gonna play nearest to the pin. 01:14:18

01:15:11
Speaker 6: Peter, Yeah, good morning boys, Good morning here, Peter, you've got you've got a potential sea word explanation for us. Yes, I reckon the sea word and this will this will ring pretty loud out north Curtis Road. I reckon you've ross Curtis Road.
01:15:30
Speaker 5: That could have been traffic concern on Curtis Road. Absolutely good you, Peter, thank you. Eight double two three double O double goodoo quality meat. So you can text us on at zero before eight zero eight thirteen ninety five for the meat tray this morning, stud for a bit of breaking eight.
01:15:49
Speaker 6: Well, there's a last ditch bid being mounted tomorrow to save a historic building, the Australian War Widow Site at Rose Park. Now this has been going on for quite a long time on this battle where an age care group has been granted permission to build an exclusive thirteen story residential tower for older people. Now, this is something where as a general rule, we reckon that these sort of medium density even high rise accommodation centers for older people are actually really important. We've got an aging population, so we get the arguments about the need to come up with new and in some cases even more imposing facilities so that we can accommodate our growing elderly population. But at the same time, though, there's a time and a place for everything, and I think that quite rightly. When you've got these wonderful heritage buildings that have played such an important role in Australia's history, Australia's military history, as the former site of the Australia War Windows, the community has every right to ask is this perhaps a little bit disrespectful planking a multi million dollar mini skyscraper on top of this historic site on the corner of Fulton Road and Hewett Avenue. Libby Beef is a local resident and she's also a friend of the war Widows, and we've got her on the line now, Libby, good morning. It feels like in this case the balance that I was trying to describe there have we perhaps got it wrong.
01:17:27
Speaker 23: Good to be with you. Look, I think the issue that we've got is that, like you said, we are actually supportive of more residential care and more retirement living. But what the history of this block, and most people won't know, is that the war widows developed this as a site for themselves to be housed, and they raised money that they making weavings and selling cakes and trying to raise money to buy that block since the nineteen forties, and they eventually decided that they just couldn't maintain the place back in two thousand and twenty five and five two thousand and five, and they asked a c. H to take over the running of the maintenance if they gifted it to them. And you know, what we want to see on that block is something that acknowledges the legacy of the war widows, and rightfully so that it retains the two beautiful old buildings there. One is going to be retained, but the other one is about to be demolished. And we want to make sure that within those buildings there's some history of the war widows that remains and they're not just eradicated.
01:18:44
Speaker 6: My understanding too, Does this mean there are there's still a few remaining war widows there. They're going to have to move, aren't they.
01:18:50
Speaker 23: Absolutely so there's only two left. There are many more war widows that have been rehoused. The two that are there, lady there is ninety nine years about and another lady who's eighty two. And yes, they will be moved. There is another facility that they're going to eventually, but you know that what we were I think back in the two thousand and five I'm not going to put words in their mouth, but my understanding was it was Age Cottage Home ADHD for Age Cottage Times, and they signed an agreement with them that said that we will be maintained, we will be looked after, and you can then have the benefit of owning the property that we now own that we are owned up until now. And eventually what happened was that age cottage Homes turned into age care homes and their whole focus has changed, and so now they're they're for profit even though they are not for profit organization. They are trying to build things that actually give them more money in their purse and eradicate the history that the war widows created. And we just think it's such a shame.
01:19:57
Speaker 6: So for people who want to express their suppor for the cause. Levy and what's the plan Tomorrow at ten am and am down.
01:20:05
Speaker 23: At one four one Fullerton Road, We'll be there serving coffee and hoping to get as many people as possible. We're going to re erect some signage that was mysteriously taken down last Sunday evening. Under the cloak of darkness. So we're going to be putting up the banners, bigger and better, placards, bigger and better. We're hoping that as many people can come and really a path on the message to the state government that they could step in and save Jean Rouse Villa, which is the one remaining villa, that the one villa that will be demolished, save that and create a memorial to the war wheows within it. We think that's a fitting way to celebrate and memorialize the war widows, just like we the memorialize the return servicemen and the members have fallen for us rightly, So yeah, why wouldn't we Why wouldn't we also memorialize the women that lost so much?
01:21:07
Speaker 6: Yeah, absolutely, yea.
01:21:08
Speaker 23: And so getting people to come down tire blue ribbon on the defense and also if you can't come, get onto Heritage counts on our Instagram or Facebook page and show your support. We'd love to hear from as many people as possible, And we really want the government to get out there and say we can step in here. We've saved the crown and anchor, why can't we save this Gene Rauskeler.
01:21:30
Speaker 6: Yeah, absolutely a lot of history there, Livy Beeth, friend of war Widow's Australia, thank you for joining us this morning.
01:21:39
Speaker 5: Locke's got an interesting theory on the text line, I don't mind this about the met tre Friday and the sea word. Complaintly received of the program, Locke says, maybe we can call this the nick foot in Mouth and using that as a precedent, he says, like the Zach Butter's umpire foot issue. The Gentleman on Wednesday, that thought he heard day and used the sea word is obviously correct and David is incorrect. I think that's you're right, Lockey.
01:22:07
Speaker 6: I think the good thing too is Lockie actually wrote that text while he was driving his car as well.
01:22:14
Speaker 5: Daddy and craigmore good morning.
01:22:16
Speaker 6: Good morning boys. This one is because David's so well traveled and such a food of course, course course, cous I've never been to the home of Courscus my rocque love to go there. Good food.
01:22:29
Speaker 5: You don't talk a lot about Coriscus.
01:22:32
Speaker 6: A couple of times, so I could just to tell out a bit claggy to you.
01:22:36
Speaker 5: I can just tell these days, but it was obvious by its absence in your discussion of food roping clear Few.
01:22:43
Speaker 24: Good morning, Hey guys, I'm HARKing back to your election, not.
01:22:47
Speaker 6: Coverage, caucus, caucus I might have. I want to say caucus multiple times.
01:22:55
Speaker 5: I'm glad Rob, that's your recollection.
01:22:57
Speaker 6: I tried to say Cinderella cleaning services.
01:23:00
Speaker 5: The bunch of sea words that didn't go well.
01:23:04
Speaker 6: Kim Claus Kivid, clear of you.
01:23:06
Speaker 5: Thank you for that, Rob Kiving, clear of you.
01:23:07
Speaker 1: Good morning, Good morning, David, and Will.
01:23:11
Speaker 21: The Gentle Concern was obviously a Paul supporter and Davids to the word crows, that's a red rag.
01:23:18
Speaker 5: Will, that's true, that is true.
01:23:21
Speaker 6: Thank you, Kim.
01:23:22
Speaker 5: Consecutive listeners from Clearview as well, speaking of sea words, lots coming through on the text line. We'll get to some of those shortly. Zer before eight zero eight thirteen ninety five. We're gonna play nearest to the pin and in a moment we'll get an explanation for why Persa says you need to stay away from Goolwick Cockles. That's coming up.
01:23:39
Speaker 8: Knockdown Bill two with metro Homes. Sell one and move on, keep the other as an investment. Metro Homes they do it.
01:23:47
Speaker 4: All for you. David pen Birby and Will Goodings five double a Breakfast.
01:23:53
Speaker 6: Twenty one minutes after eight. Got along to the GOV last night and saw a band beforehand. We walked about four hundred meters to jum Restaurant. Took one of my good mates there. He'd never been there before in his life. Was this the Mountain Goats?
01:24:04
Speaker 5: Will yeah, Mountain goats? Last night at the GOV. Went to Jarmas and we ordered schnitzels and I knew, I knew he was going to love it. Didn't say anything, and my friend went, that is That's a the best peppercorn source I've ever had in my life, and be the best schnitzel I've ever reaten. He's booking in with his wife when she's coming back into town. When he's next time he's here in Adelaide, get to Jarmers. He's also going to be on for Thoty Friday tonight with Stacey Elett three pm this afternoon. Building a renovating Your first choice to be visiting the Smeg showroom at Demie Distributors. Taste the difference with Smeg and POWs.
01:24:39
Speaker 6: I don't know if the past the vongolais is on the menu at Jarmas. But if it is, it might have to be taken off on account of brethertoxin's being found in the cockles down at Goula. Mike Steer is the executive director of SARDI. Professor Steer, good morning and thanks for coming on. So what's the gar with these like of these is it? Is it bloom related or is this a separate, standalone incident involving brevitoxins.
01:25:07
Speaker 7: Yeah, Look, first of all, I'll just correct you that all commercial available seafood, including the vongarli at the restaurants for Safety Eat, so everything that you buy from the shops or through commercial enterprises of Safety Eat. What this is about is the people who are recreational fishes that are going down to Gorle Beach. So the section in between Middleton Point and the Mouth. We've just got some results that indicate that the bevytoxin levels in that particular area at that food safety level. And the reason why is that bevy toxins can hang in the sediment for a long time after the carena has gone. It's what of hangs around. It persists and over time it'll disappear and naturally degrade and pippies.
01:25:57
Speaker 14: We've a coffee copples.
01:25:59
Speaker 7: They live in it eediment and they filter that water constantly so they'll know they will resuspend or re accumulate those for every toxics and we monitor them on a weekly basis.
01:26:10
Speaker 6: So to correct. Just just to jump in, so I want to be absolutely clear about this. So I was wrong. It's got nothing to do with any commercially available ones. The ones that you might get if you're making a bowl of passes that come from elsewhere and have been checked. There's no issue there, but it's one between Middleton and the Mouth.
01:26:29
Speaker 7: Yeah, so what we're just saying is you can still go down and collect them through that Gordle Beach area, which heaps of people do and enjoy, but just use those cockles for bait until further notice and recreational fishes are understanding. So we've we've done this before where that section of beach has only been available for bait collection, and then you know, we're monitoring it weekly and we'll provide the updates impordingly. And what this does show as well is that our shellfish monitoring program, how important it is, and how responsivity is and how agile we can ensure that food safety is at the forefront of our minds.
01:27:14
Speaker 6: Good stuff. Professor Mike Steer, the executive director of SARTI, thanks for that. All right, It's time for Nearest to the Pin.
01:27:29
Speaker 4: Nearest the Pin on five double a breakfast.
01:27:33
Speaker 5: This is going to be an interesting one. We've got a lot of texts of people wondering about a footy related issue this weekend but coming to very different conclusions, and Nearest to the Pin this morning is regarding Port Adelaide's free kick count against Hawthorne tomorrow. Given the fight Zach Butters has had with an AFL umpire this week and the AFL falling on the side of that umpire, We've received some text people saying Port are gonna have two hundred free kicks this weekend as the Affeld tries to make good. Others are saying maybe the umpires are going to exact retribution on Port Adelaide this weekend. In addition to that they're playing free kick Hawthorn. So yes, we want to ask you plus minus what is nearest to the pin Port Adelaide's free kick count on the weekend. For example, if you think they'll have two more free kicks than their opponents. You say plus two. If you think Hawthorne will have five more free kicks than Port Adelaide, you say minus five. What will the free kick count differential be this weekend?
01:28:41
Speaker 6: Eight?
01:28:41
Speaker 5: Double two to three double o double oh, nearest to the pin? Get calling now the winner of nearest of the pin. On Monday, we're going to send off to see the wonderful Cinderella Show being put on by the State Opera of South Australia playing four shows only Who Magedies Theater at May seven to sixteen tickets from State Opera dot com dot au.
01:28:58
Speaker 6: So again last week, think it was a minus seven differential when that death Blake was out there umpiring.
01:29:03
Speaker 5: So Mike's on this week? I think uh Sam seven Theatherton, good.
01:29:11
Speaker 1: Morning, Good morning guys.
01:29:13
Speaker 12: Well if it's Victoria mumpis is gonna be minus nine.
01:29:17
Speaker 5: Minus nine that'll be a bad day at the office. Thank you, Sam written not away, good morning.
01:29:23
Speaker 6: Good morning.
01:29:24
Speaker 4: I reckon plus four plus four for.
01:29:27
Speaker 6: Port Adelaide, Jim and Aley, what do you think it's going to be minus five minus five?
01:29:32
Speaker 5: This is good John and Woodcroft, good morning to you.
01:29:36
Speaker 6: Plus ten plus ten the AFL will make good. Kathy in Thbird and which way is it going to go?
01:29:41
Speaker 24: For Port Adelaide, I reckon minus I mean plus two.
01:29:45
Speaker 5: Plus two, so pretty even. Breton all Longer downs, Good morning.
01:29:49
Speaker 20: Mornings, Raicon Port our way plus seven plus seven.
01:29:53
Speaker 5: James in nord to Port get the rubb of the.
01:29:55
Speaker 6: Green or not?
01:29:57
Speaker 18: Yeah, no, they won't.
01:29:58
Speaker 6: Minus far minus five Tracy and Anguston, how do you see it playing out? Minus seven minus seven?
01:30:05
Speaker 5: All right? Graham and Ingle Farm, Good.
01:30:07
Speaker 20: Morning, guys, Happy Friday.
01:30:09
Speaker 9: Minus nine.
01:30:12
Speaker 6: Every time I start thinking there's a consens oh we already had no minus nine, Grahame, can we get another.
01:30:15
Speaker 5: Number for you?
01:30:17
Speaker 6: Well more minus ten minus ten.
01:30:19
Speaker 5: Every time I start thinking we're going to consensus, people think it's going to favor all not the other one tips about the other way.
01:30:25
Speaker 6: Ray in sevenfore Park, good morning, Good morning boys.
01:30:28
Speaker 10: Yeah, I'm go and go minus.
01:30:29
Speaker 5: Eleven minus eleven Criky Story's Steve in South Plimpton, Good morning.
01:30:36
Speaker 16: It's ridiculous that we're even talking about this, but I'm going minus twelve.
01:30:41
Speaker 5: It is, but it's fun all the same.
01:30:44
Speaker 6: Steve.
01:30:44
Speaker 5: Thank you.
01:30:45
Speaker 6: If you're a skilled caller of the game and the student of the game.
01:30:48
Speaker 5: Will you have to read the umpires? You're doing the cornermorrow night, You're doing the call tomorrow night, so I won't be doing the poor Hawthorne. No, Well, what do you think based on what happened against the Saints last week and all the ensuing furore, what do you reckon we'll have? I think I think I would answer this very differently. If this game was at Adelaide Oval, I think it's going to be I would say minus five. I think Hawthorne will have it, which which Hawthorne are really good. I think Port are going to struggle a bit in that game.
01:31:15
Speaker 6: So to Paul get towed up so badly by the Apps. There was that chart doing the rounds, and it's actually quite telling. All the Victorian tides get plus, like Geelong are like fourteen or something else, and then like down the bottom it's Crows and then even worse Port I think gws are the lowest. Yeah, Like, it's all the non Victorian sides that are always on the negative differential.
01:31:37
Speaker 5: I think there's subconscious bias that goes to star plus star players get calls. That's and that's in true in every sport. If you live in Victoria, all the cover that subconsciously the stars of Victorian players at those big clubs, especially so Nick Dacos gets a different whistle to other people. And he's a wonderful football I don't begrudge you any if his except the guy's a superstar. But I think that we've only got the last quarter last night. Come this guy, he doesn't need any help. He gets the star whistle, but reinforced every day in the media. If you live in that environment, is Nick dak Ors, Nick dak or Nick Dakos. So the benefit of the doubts always going to go to the superstar.
01:32:15
Speaker 6: When I used to add the Daily Telegraph, Frupert Murder used to always say, why does the Herald Son sell more newspapers in Melbourne than the Daily Telegraph sells in Sydney when Sydney's got a bigger population. And I never said this to him, but I was all just sitting there thinking, mate, you put a picture of Rene kink on the front page of the Herald Star. There's three hundred thousand people alone who will slavishly buy the paper that day and stick cut the fighter out and put it in their pie scrapbook. Yeah, exactly totally different in the Balkan or the Balkanized world of NRL and Manly thinks it's a separate country from Sydney. The Northern Beaches. People will never go to Sydney like there's no unifying factors in Sydney and there's no unifying code in Sydney like AFL just brings Melbourne together like nothing else.
01:33:05
Speaker 5: And how did rupet react to that?
01:33:06
Speaker 6: If he fired me? Eventually you said, I'm sticking your bloody excuses.
01:33:11
Speaker 5: He just didn't understand, Futty. Clearly that's the issue. Quentin's wondering whether the nearest of the pin prize, whoever wins it, will get a pre drink with Alan at the State Opera Company. I'd like to think so, So we can't guarantee it.
01:33:26
Speaker 8: Knockdown Bill two with Metro Homes, sell one and move on, keep the other as an investment.
01:33:32
Speaker 3: Metro Homes, they do it all.
01:33:34
Speaker 4: For you, Deevid pen Berbe and Will Goodings five double a Breakfast.
01:33:41
Speaker 6: Twenty minutes to nine.
01:33:42
Speaker 5: We have a Smeg appliance to give away as part of feedback Friday.
01:33:48

01:34:07
Speaker 13: Morning Killers.
01:34:08
Speaker 6: Yeah, I'm sure in the past I've heard Pimboat referred to crusty as krusty bread from Kaza del crusty Bread, House of Bread. That's on mcgil ray, isn't it.
01:34:19
Speaker 13: Con That's right place, Yeah, just.
01:34:23
Speaker 6: Down from Chili Majack.
01:34:24
Speaker 5: Get on your con Linda and heath Field. Good morning, Oh, good.
01:34:27
Speaker 15: Morning David will Yeah. I don't know what the conversation was that Dave had, but could it be crunch or crunchy or double deep And as they played on your conscience.
01:34:38
Speaker 5: Copy, it could be it could well be, Linda. They're all excellent theories. I do like how we've just crystallized around David's love of food is the most likely explanations for this, which I again erically random gibberous sheets probably the most likely outcome. Thank you those You're all in the running to win the meat Troy this morning. Thanks to the great people at Good Would Quality Mates.
01:35:05
Speaker 6: Now we feedback right day feedback.
01:35:10
Speaker 5: Tina, Gay and Tyson hell out of the blocks very quickly. Lots of it were trying to get on lake for feedback your cause.
01:35:19
Speaker 6: Try again next week. In fact, one of you might get through because I think someone just dropped off. Let's go to Tina and Trot Park because Tina as well and truly their Good morning to you, Tina.
01:35:28
Speaker 15: Good morning, how are you?
01:35:30
Speaker 1: Thank you?
01:35:31
Speaker 6: Tina. Have you ever played at the North Adelaide golf Course?
01:35:33
Speaker 15: Tina never played at the golf course. No, but I do have some relatives that are very keen golfers.
01:35:41
Speaker 6: Okay, what did happened to the there's still that golf course down near the Brighton Cement Works that would be the closest one to you and Trot Park, I'm guessing Tina.
01:35:50
Speaker 15: Yes, yes, that's true, and I do see quite a few people down there. I also used to live at season, so the Grange golf very popular as well.
01:36:02
Speaker 5: Yeah, yeah, Well, the former home of Live North Adlade was meant to be the future home of Live and Lapier's liver is no more. The Prime Minister has suggested that we should find alternative means other than driving to get around. Tina, would you ever consider riding your bike to get to where you need to go?
01:36:22
Speaker 1: Well?
01:36:22
Speaker 15: Not if I mean my work can be over an hour away and I'm not going to drive and I'm not going to ride a bike for an hour to get to work because it's going to take me a lot more than an hour on a bike.
01:36:37
Speaker 6: I'll tell you what, going home to trot Park up o'heller and hill. If you come into the city you have legs like Lant's armstrong by Christmas time.
01:36:45
Speaker 15: I mean, it'd be great for my health and my doctor would love it, but for me, I don't think it's very practical to ask people. And you know, you're not going to be able to get elderly people to be able to ride bikes and you know, very far And yeah, it is a big issue. And bikes aren't cheap either of you know, a good bike is quite expensive too.
01:37:13
Speaker 5: It's a really good point. Well, but the reason we talk about bikes in their uptake this week is of course because of the fuel crisis, and it has claimed a victim in terms of air travel, there is no longer quantus flights from Adelaide to Mount Gambia. And when was last time you're in Mount Gambia Tina.
01:37:28
Speaker 15: We went on a family holidays to Mount Gambia when we went on the Great Ocean Road.
01:37:32
Speaker 5: Fantastic.
01:37:34
Speaker 4: Yeah.
01:37:34
Speaker 15: And you know a lot of a lot of people do have family here in South Australia. I've got some sorry in Adelaide, and they do come regularly and they go back to Mount Gambler to visit elderly parents. So so you know it's going to affect a lot of families.
01:37:52
Speaker 5: It certainly will, Tina. And just the last one speaking of an increased costs and inconvenience. We spoke with the dairy industry various times this week about the potential for twenty percent price increases across all dairy products. How much milk would you consume a week, don't it?
01:38:07
Speaker 15: Well, we have four children and oh lots, Yeah, we do use a lot of milk. And you know, I'm really positive to give that little bit more to our farmers because they do a great job. So I think with milk, yeah, I wouldn't mind paying a little bit more if I knew that it was going to our Aussie farmers.
01:38:28
Speaker 5: Yeah, well said, that's a good sentiment. All right, let's go to West Croydon.
01:38:32
Speaker 6: Gay, Good morning, Third morning guys.
01:38:36
Speaker 5: Gay. Controversially, we had an AFL tribunal member to conduct their tribunal business over a zoom call in their car. Have you ever done any business over a zoom call?
01:38:46
Speaker 6: I have once.
01:38:47
Speaker 21: It took me forever to even work out how to zoom, but I did do it once, and I have got a zoom meeting in about a week's time, so I'm very nervous whether I'll be able to do it again, but whether I do it in my.
01:39:02
Speaker 6: Car, I don't.
01:39:06
Speaker 5: Hey, Gay, where do you think the stolen cardboard cut out of Geelong star Bailey Smith from Escape adelaidies right now?
01:39:14
Speaker 6: Oh?
01:39:14
Speaker 4: Wow?
01:39:15
Speaker 21: I from Geelong?
01:39:16
Speaker 6: Wow?
01:39:16
Speaker 21: Okay, maybe at the dump?
01:39:19
Speaker 5: Yeah, it could well be. I don't know if the young fellows who pitched that had much of a plan for it. Donald Trump announcedaven night he's not happy in Australia. Is there anyone you're not happy with right now?
01:39:31
Speaker 21: Probably Old Albow I'm not happy with, and I think a lot of business owners are pretty unhappy with him right now. So yeah, but I haven't been happy with him for a long time.
01:39:41
Speaker 5: What's your business? Gay, give it a plug?
01:39:44
Speaker 21: Yeah, I've wrung before. I own your door, Lingerie.
01:39:47
Speaker 9: Nor Yeah, we have had you on the before, Gay, Yeah, you've had me on the show.
01:39:52
Speaker 6: Does lingerie coping a costa living crisis?
01:39:55
Speaker 7: Yeah?
01:39:55
Speaker 4: It is.
01:39:56
Speaker 21: It is being affected. I mean when I girl wants a broadwe and when a girl needs a brush, she needs a braw. I mean, you know you've got to hold those girls up. We can't go out without once. So it is being affected. I think what's happening now is they're leaving it longer or they're looking at a cheaper option when they come in.
01:40:17
Speaker 1: Yeah.
01:40:18
Speaker 5: Yeah, it's interesting And just finally, Gay, do you think the AFL hates Port Adelaide?
01:40:27
Speaker 21: Being an absolute avid Port Adelaide supporter, I think everybody else hates it. We are like the Collingwood of South Australa.
01:40:38
Speaker 5: Well said Gay, That was excellent.
01:40:40
Speaker 6: Everyone had the laugh. We don't care.
01:40:42
Speaker 5: The laugh was the answer. That was great. Let's go to Clarence Gardens. Tyson will run out feedback Friday hate Good morning mate, how much did you last pay for fuel.
01:40:52
Speaker 24: Well, I've actually been riding my e White for the last month, so it was probably about one hundred bucks. Yeah, I've been good.
01:40:59
Speaker 5: Did you get the because of the crisis or no.
01:41:01
Speaker 24: No, I've had it for about two years now, okay, right, and just riding into town from Clarence Garden it takes about seven minutes, so it's great quick. Yeah, straight up the tram line there's a black path.
01:41:12
Speaker 6: Yeah, of course.
01:41:13
Speaker 12: Yeah.
01:41:15
Speaker 5: What's the most important thing you've lost, Dyson?
01:41:18
Speaker 24: Oh, my dad gave me a watch when I was in year nine. It was one of the brand new time X interiglows and I left it on the gym floor and I went to come back and get it because I left it there forgot it and it was gone and yeah, devoted for life and my dad was just so upset with me as well.
01:41:37
Speaker 5: Oh that sucks. That's that is worse than losing eighty one votes and see how Australia's most marginal seet.
01:41:44
Speaker 6: You didn't wear it in a prisoner of war camp in Vietnam. Bombnose you got a favorite bomb Jovi Tyson?
01:42:01
Speaker 24: I did test is horrible?
01:42:08
Speaker 20: Yeah, I like that was brilliant.
01:42:10
Speaker 5: Well, that was awesome.
01:42:11
Speaker 24: I'd listen to that again.
01:42:12
Speaker 6: Don't worry.
01:42:12
Speaker 5: You might just get your wish.
01:42:14
Speaker 6: He's going to do a sort of a rat pack sort of cocktail reworking of New Jersey. I think he's in talks with Sony.
01:42:23
Speaker 5: Hey, Tyson, So mad March is done, gather rounds gone. What are you going to do this weekend?
01:42:31
Speaker 9: I might actually just rest.
01:42:33
Speaker 24: I've got a big backyard to clean up over the winds and rain lately. But I can just sort of lay in bed and look it out my window. And I don't think that's what I'm going to be doing.
01:42:43
Speaker 6: You need to rest, yeah, every now and then, beat a bit of the old recumbency. Well, we do have options for people.
01:42:51
Speaker 5: We've got the Smeg appliance, and we've got two fifty other Kent Town hotel vouches if you want to do something other than rest.
01:42:56
Speaker 6: So who gets pretty good? That's pretty good team that Gay and Tyson. Teen's got four kids. I reckon she might need a blender yep for all those smoothies.
01:43:05
Speaker 5: Building a renovating amirs choice. Vis in the Smeg showroom at Debney Distributors. Taste the difference with Smeg.
01:43:10
Speaker 6: And Gay you know, if you're in the market for some lingerie, head out to git it. Annoyed. Yeah, Gay's business in Norwood Lingerie for all your lingerie needs. Gay gets the fifty Kent Town vouch it and just So too, Just Tice and Tyson as well.

01:44:11

01:44:48
Speaker 5: Watch Tom Wren as Sean Connery as the captain and evre in hunt for Red October. Can't remember why we're talking about a hunt for Red October. Early in the week matter, Tom rend did Sewan Connery, which is why it was in the top five. Number four.
01:45:05
Speaker 6: All right, here we go, let's just do it, says Alex from Paradise.
01:45:08
Speaker 19: What moment.
01:45:11
Speaker 6: Wish?
01:45:29
Speaker 15: Oh my god, but he does, Alex.
01:45:34
Speaker 4: That was superb.
01:45:37
Speaker 5: That was unbelievable.
01:45:39
Speaker 6: Yeah, in the number four spot.
01:45:40
Speaker 5: We devised a competition for people to come on and make a fool of themselves, and Alex made a fool of us by hitting the high note and sounding as good as Whitney Hughes.
01:45:47
Speaker 6: To tell you what we couldn't get Whitney Houston. We got the next best thing in Alex.
01:45:50
Speaker 5: That was just a s unbelievable, remarkable talent, really good thinging Number three spot.
01:45:57
Speaker 6: Put Ada Football.
01:45:58
Speaker 5: Club chairman compare the market Economic Director doctor David Koch.
01:46:04
Speaker 6: Goshi. You are you are smart enough to know you can't tell people not to give you a nickname in this country, and you tried it yesterday. I saw it on seven News, Dr Kosh, good morning.
01:46:17
Speaker 13: Yeah, good morning.
01:46:18
Speaker 20: My wife calls me, Yeah, my.
01:46:20
Speaker 5: Wife calls me winker. David Kosh on the program earlier this week, having received an honorary doctorate from Flinder's University, wasn't having any of it when he joined us the next day. The number two spot.
01:46:31
Speaker 6: I'm just going down to the basement now because I've got to I got to get the I got to get the kids.
01:46:36
Speaker 1: They've got to play date.
01:46:38
Speaker 6: But you know, if there's any news happening that we need to comment on, I'm just going down. Don't sound distracted at all, You sound right at the top of things, but I did. I told Kate I needed to be home by nine at nine five, so I'm going to be up against it. But I just hope it's not affecting the quality of.
01:46:59
Speaker 5: The number two spots Taking Leaf out of the airfil Tribunals Book. David finished the show whilst doing something else and just going home.
01:47:09
Speaker 6: Because that was on FaceTime. It makes you sound like you've you've got some sort of speech impediment, but you're talking like this, like Elma Fudd. It sounded really strange, it did. It happened to Fitzy the other day because he was facetimed. Just dragged out the dragged it all out a little bit. All right, maybe I've got a speech in I.
01:47:26
Speaker 5: Think this might be the most anticipated and least surprising number one spot we've almost ever had on the program. Number one in the top five moments of the week.
01:47:37
Speaker 6: Let's go to Vail Park.
01:47:39
Speaker 1: Alan, Good morning, Good morning.
01:47:41
Speaker 5: Alan, you want to have a crack at living on a prayer?
01:47:44
Speaker 14: Oh try to play something that I know?
01:47:47
Speaker 1: Well?
01:47:48
Speaker 6: You sounded like a big bon jav guy. Alan, Not really, Alan, here we go.
01:48:03
Speaker 18: No, no, no, no, no, no, that was so good.
01:48:24
Speaker 25: It doesn't get any fun. It's so good we should release that as a single. Alan from Bob Park, you made everyone's you made my work.
01:48:36
Speaker 6: That was for the Funny six. I've got to try and do fuel watch. It's better to be a member of the A Road Service. A lot of youations they must be better. Have dropped under two dollars this morning. That's great news.
01:48:50
Speaker 5: Dollar ninety nine point five, especially along Northeast Road and in the Port Adelaide area. Diesel two dollars ninety two point nine at the Yugo Salisbury Downs is the cheapest you're going to find it.
01:49:02
Speaker 6: Big.
01:49:02
Speaker 5: Thanks to everyone to contributed to the program, but none more than than Alan. Absolutely he wins the week in my book. And Jay Raschman wave you will have a good weekend.
01:49:10
Speaker 6: And seeing Monday, folks.
01:49:14
Speaker 7: I was trying to.
01:49:21
Speaker 4: Bounce.
01:49:23
Speaker 21: When a girl needs a brash, you need to braw. I mean, you know you've got to hold
01:49:26
Speaker 13: Those girls up.
00:49:58

00:52:23
Speaker 14: Oh try try to play something that I know?
00:52:26
Speaker 6: Well, you sound like a big Bond jav guy.
00:52:28
Speaker 1: Allen, Not really did you hear it before?
00:52:32
Speaker 4: Allan?
00:52:33
Speaker 5: Or you want me to play the clip again?
00:52:35
Speaker 23: Oh?
00:52:36
Speaker 9: Better play it again?
00:52:48
Speaker 6: All right? Alan?
00:52:50
Speaker 5: Here we go.
00:52:51
Speaker 18: Oh no, no, no, no, no, no, that is so good.
00:53:21
Speaker 6: So when you asked you're a big bon Jovi fan. I think the answer is no.
00:53:28
Speaker 5: Alan, lets me always say, it's not about inaccurate recreation of the song. It's just about having a go. Jess Adams's book did shaking her head. She can't believe what she just.
00:53:43
Speaker 6: Turned complete This bond job lyrics didn't Lama Land There's a one man band and his flu for you.
00:53:57
Speaker 5: Alan's getting along to the opera.
00:54:00
Speaker 6: Eies to the two men who entered the competition earlier in the week. I just described on here as female. They hit the high note.
00:54:07
Speaker 5: That's one of the competition is all about.
00:54:09
Speaker 6: One of them's written in complaining how make Quentin row, which is how did you I want the tickets? And I still identify some male.

01:33:48
Speaker 6: Get calling now eight double two three double O double A.

Speaker 5: A Smeg appliants and two fifty dollar Kent Town Hotel vouchers. Three spots available. You will win a prize if you call in an eight double two three double O double right now. Connor McGill's got to meat tray Friday entry while we wait for the feedbackers to populate morning con.
01:41:15
