00:00:00.360 --> 00:00:03.200
Hey everyone, I have a new update for you. Despite
00:00:03.200 --> 00:00:05.900
what I thought last month, I've decided I'm no
00:00:05.900 --> 00:00:08.179
longer doing the War of the Worlds next. I have
00:00:08.179 --> 00:00:10.279
so many things going on and not enough weeks
00:00:10.279 --> 00:00:13.140
before I need to start my holiday episodes, so
00:00:13.140 --> 00:00:14.679
I think I'm going to postpone the War of the
00:00:14.679 --> 00:00:17.320
Worlds until next year and do a series that I
00:00:17.320 --> 00:00:19.850
can fit in between now and Christmas. I wanted
00:00:19.850 --> 00:00:22.190
to start my Christmas episodes in November. I
00:00:22.190 --> 00:00:24.210
haven't done any versions of Charles Dickens'
00:00:24.250 --> 00:00:27.530
A Christmas Carol in probably three years, and
00:00:27.530 --> 00:00:29.969
I wanted to do a good long series this time,
00:00:30.010 --> 00:00:31.989
not just however many weeks there are in December.
00:00:32.539 --> 00:00:34.340
I'd planned to have my War of the Worlds series
00:00:34.340 --> 00:00:36.820
done in plenty of time before that, but between
00:00:36.820 --> 00:00:39.579
this podcast, a five -part miniseries I need
00:00:39.579 --> 00:00:41.659
to start editing for the Disney Movie Marathon,
00:00:41.820 --> 00:00:44.000
and a four -part miniseries I need to finish
00:00:44.000 --> 00:00:46.740
for iHeart Animation, not to mention also working
00:00:46.740 --> 00:00:49.920
on my new podcast, The JohnCast Rewind, I've
00:00:49.920 --> 00:00:51.899
been having serious doubts about my ability to
00:00:51.899 --> 00:00:54.020
get everything done in time. If I didn't also
00:00:54.020 --> 00:00:56.359
have a full -time job, maybe I'd be sailing through
00:00:56.359 --> 00:00:58.960
things, but at the moment... I kind of need money.
00:00:59.219 --> 00:01:01.679
So between now and November, you're going to
00:01:01.679 --> 00:01:04.640
get an extremely random grab bag assortment of
00:01:04.640 --> 00:01:07.480
episodes. I have at least one, but probably two
00:01:07.480 --> 00:01:09.959
episodes that I recorded last year for my fairy
00:01:09.959 --> 00:01:12.260
tale princess series that I ran out of time for.
00:01:12.420 --> 00:01:14.680
Eli and I talked about a whole bunch of animated
00:01:14.680 --> 00:01:17.319
princess cartoons from like the fifties and sixties.
00:01:17.420 --> 00:01:19.200
It's been so long. I don't remember everything
00:01:19.200 --> 00:01:21.560
we talked about, but I think we recorded enough
00:01:21.560 --> 00:01:23.900
that that will be two episodes, but I need to
00:01:23.900 --> 00:01:26.780
edit it and find out. Also in the realm of princesses,
00:01:26.780 --> 00:01:28.620
several years. ago, Jenna and I did an episode
00:01:28.620 --> 00:01:31.140
of iHeartAnimation on an obscure film from the
00:01:31.140 --> 00:01:33.519
90s called The Princess and the Goblin, which
00:01:33.519 --> 00:01:35.680
is based on a book. I had thought about saving
00:01:35.680 --> 00:01:38.159
that for a future random fairy tale princess
00:01:38.159 --> 00:01:40.560
series, because there are several more obscure
00:01:40.560 --> 00:01:42.920
fairy tale princesses that have been adapted
00:01:42.920 --> 00:01:45.519
like one or two times, but since I don't currently
00:01:45.519 --> 00:01:47.879
have plans for that series, I think I'll use
00:01:47.879 --> 00:01:50.159
it now. I also have an episode that I recorded
00:01:50.159 --> 00:01:52.400
with Sarah on the Cartoon Network miniseries
00:01:52.400 --> 00:01:54.540
Over the Garden Wall, which was suggested to
00:01:54.540 --> 00:01:56.640
me that I post it during my kids' Lost in the
00:01:56.640 --> 00:01:59.060
Woods series earlier this year, which I didn't
00:01:59.060 --> 00:02:01.060
do then, but since we are going into October,
00:02:01.200 --> 00:02:03.560
this seems like the perfect time to use it. And
00:02:03.560 --> 00:02:05.620
in keeping with our fairy tale theme, and in
00:02:05.620 --> 00:02:07.420
the spirit of the season, I also have an episode
00:02:07.420 --> 00:02:10.439
I recorded with my friend Sam on the 1980s classic
00:02:10.439 --> 00:02:13.819
Legend, starring a young Tom Cruise, Mia Sara,
00:02:14.099 --> 00:02:16.860
and of course, the legendary Tim Curry, who recently
00:02:16.860 --> 00:02:19.219
passed away. I recorded that for another podcast
00:02:19.219 --> 00:02:21.099
several years ago, but I've been trying to think
00:02:21.099 --> 00:02:22.900
of a way to use it for every version ever for
00:02:22.900 --> 00:02:25.539
ages, and this now seems like the perfect time.
00:02:25.770 --> 00:02:27.610
And then I also have a brand new episode that
00:02:27.610 --> 00:02:30.069
I recorded for the JohnCast Rewind, which also
00:02:30.069 --> 00:02:32.469
happens to be based on a novel, which is also
00:02:32.469 --> 00:02:35.409
a ghost story, so that will also kind of be seasonally
00:02:35.409 --> 00:02:37.789
appropriate for October. Last year, while I was
00:02:37.789 --> 00:02:40.310
visiting Nikki, Trivia Theater, we watched Field
00:02:40.310 --> 00:02:42.569
of Dreams, and then drove around visiting the
00:02:42.569 --> 00:02:44.629
farm where it was filmed, and some museums in
00:02:44.629 --> 00:02:47.129
the area, and then recorded a podcast about the
00:02:47.129 --> 00:02:49.210
experience. Technically, I've never read the
00:02:49.210 --> 00:02:51.229
book it was based on, but I'm kind of stretching
00:02:51.229 --> 00:02:53.590
the limits of the rules of this podcast in order
00:02:53.590 --> 00:02:56.009
to fill in this gap in my schedule. so I'll make
00:02:56.009 --> 00:02:58.250
it work this time. At the moment, that's what
00:02:58.250 --> 00:03:00.469
I've got planned for this Gap miniseries. It's
00:03:00.469 --> 00:03:02.150
mostly episodes I could get together quickly
00:03:02.150 --> 00:03:05.330
since they are mostly ready to go. The big exception
00:03:05.330 --> 00:03:07.909
to that is my Cartoon Princess episode, or episodes,
00:03:08.250 --> 00:03:10.729
with Eli, which I need to get started editing
00:03:10.729 --> 00:03:13.150
ASAP. Because I don't know how long that will
00:03:13.150 --> 00:03:15.650
take, I think I will kick off this Grab Bag miniseries
00:03:15.650 --> 00:03:17.789
with the Princess and the Goblin. I had thought
00:03:17.789 --> 00:03:19.449
it would be more seasonally appropriate to use
00:03:19.449 --> 00:03:22.069
that in October, since spooky season and all.
00:03:22.189 --> 00:03:24.150
But I think in the interest of not delaying this
00:03:24.150 --> 00:03:27.370
any longer, we'll start with that one. So, depending
00:03:27.370 --> 00:03:29.310
on when this update goes up, be on the lookout
00:03:29.310 --> 00:03:32.110
for the first Grab Bag episode tomorrow. So thanks
00:03:32.110 --> 00:03:34.189
for listening, and we'll see you very soon. for
00:03:34.189 --> 00:03:36.270
more episodes of Every Version Ever.
