Baseball Builds Character: Cam & Corey with Washington’s Home Team at the American Legion Centennial

American Legion 100th Anniversary — Mid-South Regional, Washington, MO

Hosted by Corey Schonhorst & Cam Janssen • Featuring Washington’s winning hometown squad: Brody, Andrew, and Drew.

A century of service, sportsmanship, and community—celebrate the American Legion’s 100th with a sideline conversation that captures why baseball still brings us together. Corey and Cam meet Washington’s hometown team fresh off a win to talk work ethic, role models, mechanics, mindset, and what it really takes to chase a dream on and off the field.

What We Cover

-Game recap & momentum: defense locked in, pitching on point, bats heating up

-Role models & baseball IQ: Yadier Molina, Matt Carpenter, Kolten Wong, Mason Winn—and what young players borrow from the pros

-Velocity & mechanics myth-busting: why radar “from the hand” vs “at the plate” matters, and how modern training + recovery changed the game

-Multi-sport advantage: baseball + basketball/track/hockey—building speed, balance, and competitiveness

-Low-cost development: at-home drills, cage reps, and learning from YouTube/film to sharpen mechanics

-Mindset & fears (real talk): snakes, open water, tornado country—handling nerves and uncertainty like athletes do

-Future paths: college ambitions—from physical therapy to engineering/architecture—and Cam’s advice to “hang with the builders”

-Community heartbeat: why American Legion baseball still teaches discipline, teamwork, and leadership that lasts a lifetime

Why It Matters

For 100 years, American Legion baseball has been a launchpad for character: respect for the game, respect for each other, and pride in the hometowns that raise us. This episode is a snapshot of that legacy—hard work, humor, and hope.
