S. shankar sastry is a former Dean of Engineering at University of California, Berkeley. He is currently a professor of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science, a professor of Bioengineering, and faculty director of the Blum Center for Developing Economies at UC Berkeley. From 2004 to 2007 he was the Director of CITRIS (Center for Information Technology in the Interest of Society) an interdisciplinary center spanning UC Berkeley, Davis, Merced and Santa Cruz.
