🎙️ Guest: Eleni Steinman, Co-founder of Loop Crypto
🕒 Duration: ~42 minutes
Episode Overview
Crypto payments promise speed and global reach, but for most merchants, accepting stablecoins is still far too complex. Fragmented chains, manual billing, and a lack of autopay make crypto feel years behind traditional payment rails.
In this episode, Lindsey McConaghy sits down with Eleni Steinman, co-founder of Loop Crypto (@loopcrypto_xyz), the company bringing stablecoin payments directly into existing billing stacks like Stripe and Chargebee. Loop makes it possible for merchants to accept stablecoins alongside credit cards, support true recurring payments and usage-based billing, and unlock global revenue without navigating dozens of local payment methods.
Eleni walks through her journey from the U.S. government and the State Department, to her first crypto infrastructure role, to co-founding Loop with early backing from Archetype, before the idea even existed. She also breaks down what stablecoin adoption really looks like, why usage patterns may surprise you, and what she’s learned building a team in a fast-moving industry.
They get into:
• How government work prepared her for the ambiguity and pace of startup life
• Why 15% of sales in stablecoins isn’t unusual for merchants today
• Recurring payments, autopay, credit top-ups, and the rise of AI usage-based billing
• Supporting multiple chains, wallets, and stablecoins without overwhelming merchants
• How Loop approaches failed payments, sanctions checks, on-chain visibility, and user control
• Founder insights on iteration, resilience, and building a team that thrives in ambiguity
If you’re building in AI, SaaS, fintech, or Web3, and you're curious where stablecoins fit into modern payments, this one's for you.
