What does it mean that God became human — not in part or for a season, but fully and forever? In this interview, Fr. Kenneth Tanner joins us to talk about his new book, Vulnerable God: How Jesus Upends Our Assumptions About God—and Shows Us How to Be Human (Brazos Press). Tracing the life of Jesus through the rhythms of the church year, Fr. Kenneth makes the case that vulnerability is not a weakness in God but the very shape of divine love — and that the humanity of Jesus shows us what it looks like to be human ourselves.
Fr. Kenneth is a priest in the Charismatic Episcopal Church and has pastored Church of the Holy Redeemer in Rochester Hills, Michigan, since 2005. His writing has appeared in Sojourners, Mockingbird, Christianity Today, and elsewhere. The book includes a foreword by Brian Zahnd. Vulnerable God releases Tuesday, September 29.
