00:00:18.321 --> 00:00:33.337
This is the Wait For it Podcast.
00:00:35.420 --> 00:00:37.506
Hey everyone, Welcome back to the Wait For it Podcast.
00:00:37.506 --> 00:00:39.902
I'm your co-host, Phil Barrera, aka Phil the Filipino.
00:00:40.743 --> 00:00:49.249
And I'm your other co-host, mr Eric Almighty, and we are back with Creator Spotlight and for this edition we've brought along a friend.
00:00:49.249 --> 00:01:01.173
We can now say, after meeting him at Brick City Anime Festival just a few months ago, we are now excited to bring him on as promised for this particular series.
00:01:02.201 --> 00:01:02.942
So excited.
00:01:02.942 --> 00:01:04.647
We've been working on this for a few months now.
00:01:04.647 --> 00:01:13.242
It's also crazy to think that we're already two months removed from Brick City Anime Festival, because we're here in March.
00:01:13.242 --> 00:01:19.903
We're recording this episode a little bit earlier in March, but yeah, it is crazy that the year is just flying by.
00:01:19.903 --> 00:01:26.414
But, ladies and gentlemen, let's welcome in our guest here this evening, josh portillo.
00:01:26.414 --> 00:01:33.141
Josh, we met you, like we said, brick city anime festival and we're just so excited to work with you again here.
00:01:33.141 --> 00:01:33.983
How are you doing tonight?
00:01:33.983 --> 00:01:38.221
And thank you so much for the time hey, phil, eric, thank you for having me.
00:01:38.561 --> 00:01:41.724
um, it is a pleasure to be here, an honor to be.
00:01:41.724 --> 00:01:50.055
First off, I just want to say you all made myself and my cast feel so welcomed at Brick City and we love you all.
00:01:50.055 --> 00:02:00.819
So they haven't they've been talking about you like on Instagram and such in our groups or on Twitter, because we have a group there too and you know they can't wait to to talk with you all more.
00:02:00.819 --> 00:02:06.293
But no, yeah, I'm doing well, staying chill, getting busy, talk with you all more, but, um, no, yeah, I'm doing well, staying chill.
00:02:06.293 --> 00:02:08.405
Um, getting busy, uh, it's, you know, it's like you said, it's already.
00:02:08.405 --> 00:02:15.667
We're already two months, like you know, removed from brick city and the year is just flying by.
00:02:15.667 --> 00:02:23.870
And as a voiceover artist, as a voice actor, like, once you get more into the year, work starts to get more busy.
00:02:23.870 --> 00:02:30.046
So, it's, I'm feeling it and just trying to space out the recording sessions to, you know.
00:02:30.046 --> 00:02:35.200
So I don't blow my throat out, so, but, yeah, it's a pleasure to be here.
00:02:35.200 --> 00:02:36.043
Thank you for having me y'all.
00:02:37.225 --> 00:02:37.807
Absolutely.
00:02:37.807 --> 00:02:41.463
We're very excited to talk about so many different things.
00:02:41.463 --> 00:02:45.492
Josh is also a Jacksonville Jaguar fan.
00:02:45.492 --> 00:02:48.028
We got inkling that he is a wrestling fan.
00:02:48.028 --> 00:02:50.367
We share a whole lot of fandoms.
00:02:50.367 --> 00:02:52.747
Who knows how long this episode is going to go.
00:02:52.747 --> 00:02:58.719
I don't think Josh gave us a hard stop, so we're just going to be hanging out here tonight.
00:02:58.719 --> 00:03:04.867
So, eric, very excited to jump into this conversation and, like I said, just kind of, it's really going to be like a choose your own adventure.
00:03:04.867 --> 00:03:06.764
We'll just see what happens next.
00:03:06.764 --> 00:03:10.110
Light, dark, neutral.
00:03:10.110 --> 00:03:10.973
Actually, eric, do you have a?
00:03:10.973 --> 00:03:13.401
Can you go get some of the dice from your son?
00:03:13.461 --> 00:03:19.483
I've got a dice tower or the wheel, or the wheel, or the wheel, the wheel.
00:03:19.483 --> 00:03:26.185
Let's not introduce the Wheel of Chaos to what is going to be a very chaotic but great episode.
00:03:26.185 --> 00:03:29.985
And honestly, phil, this is something I'm really excited to kind of get into.
00:03:29.985 --> 00:03:39.250
So if you want to get through our first spiel at the beginning for our audience new or returning we'll go ahead and jump into it and I'll let you take the first question here.
00:03:40.469 --> 00:03:45.692
Yeah, first and foremost, Josh, just take a moment to introduce yourself to our audience and let everybody know what you do.
00:03:46.991 --> 00:03:47.953
Absolutely so.
00:03:47.953 --> 00:03:52.554
My name is Josh Portillo and born and raised Jacksonville, florida.
00:03:52.554 --> 00:04:02.557
Do all been a Jaguars fan since 2008, since Garrard was there, since you know MJD, all that, since that dreadful five and 11 season that was my first official season as a football fan, not going to say anything.
00:04:02.557 --> 00:04:03.078
But you know MJD, all that.
00:04:03.078 --> 00:04:07.318
Since that dreadful 5-11 season, that was my first official season as a football fan.
00:04:07.318 --> 00:04:11.542
Not going to say anything.
00:04:11.542 --> 00:04:13.003
But you know, I just did.
00:04:13.003 --> 00:04:15.366
But no, I'm a professional voiceover artist, voice actor.
00:04:15.366 --> 00:04:17.649
Been doing it since 2018.
00:04:17.649 --> 00:04:23.396
So seven years already Going on, my seventh year coming this September.
00:04:26.560 --> 00:04:27.603
But, yeah, been doing that for seven years.
00:04:27.603 --> 00:04:36.574
Went full time in 2022, took the leap and I've been scared ever since because it is it's, it's scary being a freelancer.
00:04:36.574 --> 00:04:39.829
So, you know, just trying to make dreams a reality.
00:04:39.829 --> 00:04:42.906
But, yeah, that's pretty much me.
00:04:42.906 --> 00:04:45.146
I will probably get into credits and stuff later on.
00:04:45.146 --> 00:04:45.562
But yeah, that's pretty much me.
00:04:45.562 --> 00:04:46.812
I will probably get into credits and stuff later on.
00:04:46.812 --> 00:04:47.480
But yeah, that's pretty much me.
00:04:48.040 --> 00:04:48.744
I love wrestling.
00:04:48.744 --> 00:04:51.492
I love, um, love, video games.
00:04:51.492 --> 00:04:59.502
Uh, I, I credit video games and cartoons for, uh, you know, besides my friends, besides my mom, kind of saving my life whenever I was younger Cause.
00:04:59.502 --> 00:05:02.312
Uh, um, you know, when you're growing up as a, as a heavyset kid and you don't really know how to make friends, kind of go home.
00:05:02.312 --> 00:05:09.230
And then you know, when you're growing up as a, as a heavyset kid and you don't really know how to make friends, kind of go home, and then you know the things that you, that you're into.
00:05:09.230 --> 00:05:12.846
Well, for me it was like starfox, it was ed ed netty and all that.
00:05:12.846 --> 00:05:25.810
That was like my friends, you know, growing up, until you know I grew up a little bit and met, you know people and all that um had friend groups but growing up was kind of tough and you know those know those type of things really did.
00:05:25.810 --> 00:05:26.932
You know they were there for me.
00:05:27.160 --> 00:05:31.031
I remember playing Star Fox 64 religiously every day.
00:05:31.031 --> 00:05:40.630
I'd make my mom, you know, have me rent it from, like let me rent it from Blockbuster, or you know, wait until 10 pm on Fridays.
00:05:40.630 --> 00:05:49.175
Oh yeah, on Fridays, because on Cartoon Network that's when Ed Edd n Eddy came on and then you know, before that I'd watch, like Dexter's Lab or some.
00:05:49.175 --> 00:05:51.547
You know those type of cartoons.
00:05:51.547 --> 00:05:53.567
So yeah, I credit those a lot.
00:05:53.567 --> 00:05:56.389
But yeah, I'm going to talk a lot if y'all don't stop me.
00:05:57.620 --> 00:06:05.622
It's so funny you mention having to tell a parent to keep going back to Blockbuster to like rent the same game over and over again.
00:06:05.622 --> 00:06:08.211
That game for me was game day 98.
00:06:08.211 --> 00:06:17.550
I don't know if you guys remember that on the ps1, and I was living in michigan at the time and like I would just like spam the crap out of barry sanders all the time, like I thought.
00:06:17.790 --> 00:06:21.144
I thought I was good at football games, but really I just had barry sanders, uh.
00:06:21.144 --> 00:06:24.973
And then finally one day, for chris or one Christmas, I got a Game Day game.
00:06:24.973 --> 00:06:32.401
They finally were like we have to stop going to Blockbuster and getting the same game we're losing money going Blockbuster renting this we should have just kept the game.
00:06:32.862 --> 00:06:35.894
We should have never returned it For those of you that don't know.
00:06:35.915 --> 00:06:40.247
Blockbuster was a place that you would go and rent movies and video games.
00:06:40.247 --> 00:06:41.581
Yes, RIP.
00:06:41.701 --> 00:06:43.526
Yes, it was great To Blockbuster.
00:06:43.545 --> 00:06:44.108
It was great.
00:06:44.108 --> 00:06:47.636
Yeah, eric, a lot of shared experiences there, it sounds like from Josh.
00:06:48.559 --> 00:06:53.471
Oh, 100%, and that's what's going to make this episode really entertaining, at the very least.
00:06:53.471 --> 00:06:57.728
So I'm very excited to get into it, and, phil, let's get started.
00:06:58.860 --> 00:06:59.000
Yeah.
00:06:59.000 --> 00:07:03.125
So, josh, one question we definitely like to ask a lot of our voice acting guests.
00:07:03.125 --> 00:07:11.036
You know, when did you first realize that voiceover versus voice acting could be something you pursued full-time, could be a career?
00:07:11.036 --> 00:07:15.961
Because I know, you know, we were much later in our lives, eric, where we realized, oh, this is something you know.
00:07:15.961 --> 00:07:20.920
When it comes to also even thinking about podcasting, oh, we could do this all the time.
00:07:20.920 --> 00:07:22.184
When was that realization for you?
00:07:23.326 --> 00:07:34.548
This may be a little winded question, so you know I apologize for how long it could be, but growing up, you know, I was really shy and I, you know I always, you know, playing Metal Gear Solid, playing all these games.
00:07:34.548 --> 00:07:41.024
I was like, you know, it'd be so cool to sound like David Hayter, to sound like Raiden to you know.
00:07:41.024 --> 00:08:03.348
To you know, I'd hear all these actors and you know, to you know, I'd hear all these actors and you know the one voice, Fox McCloud from Star Fox 64, while as many lines as he had during that game, you know, and Falcon Lombardi and all the characters in that game, they didn't have they had a good amount of lines, but they were all memorable and that really impacted me as a kid.
00:08:03.348 --> 00:08:13.432
And you know, when I was younger I would be like man, it would be so cool to do something like that, but acting just felt so far away.
00:08:13.432 --> 00:08:19.072
Maybe it was because I was, you know, growing up I had a little speech impediment, so it didn't.
00:08:19.072 --> 00:08:20.819
Really that didn't give me a lot of confidence in myself.
00:08:20.819 --> 00:08:33.110
As I've mentioned before, I was a heavyset kid, didn't have a lot of confidence for numerous reasons beyond that too, and it just seemed like something that was just far-fetched.
00:08:34.360 --> 00:08:40.994
Fast forward, you know, by the time when I was 25, I find myself kind of going in it to support a friend.
00:08:40.994 --> 00:08:43.227
That's how I got into voice acting to support a friend.
00:08:43.227 --> 00:08:45.386
He wanted to get into voice acting.
00:08:45.386 --> 00:08:48.750
By that point, him and I, we went to high school together.
00:08:48.750 --> 00:08:51.349
We did some stage plays, stage musicals.
00:08:51.349 --> 00:09:09.066
We did Phantom of the Opera and Fiddler on the Roof together, and then in college I did, you know, my friend another friend of mine was in operas, so I helped out in like ensemble for a few of those and I did a few acting classes here and there.
00:09:09.066 --> 00:09:11.351
So it was something I always kind of dabbled in.
00:09:11.351 --> 00:09:27.394
But my confidence I mean being truthful with you I have probably, I've always had self-esteem issues begun to get more open about and it's, you know, it's really hard to handle sometimes, uh.
00:09:27.394 --> 00:09:29.403
So that that was one factor.
00:09:29.543 --> 00:09:37.811
But going back to my friend who wanted to do uh, to do voice acting, he just wanted to do it and I was like, you know, I need something good in my life right now.
00:09:37.811 --> 00:09:42.647
Uh, don't know what I'm doing in college, uh, which is majority of everybody, so that's normal.
00:09:42.647 --> 00:09:50.085
But I decided to dive in it with him, and that was back in 2018.
00:09:50.085 --> 00:09:55.774
And the more I did it, the more I was like man, this is really fun.
00:09:55.774 --> 00:09:59.206
I wonder if he can make a career out of this.
00:09:59.206 --> 00:10:05.870
And I remember my friend talking to me and he's just like you're going in three different ways.
00:10:05.870 --> 00:10:18.431
You're wanting to be a personal trainer at that time, you're in student affairs too, and you're doing voice acting and you seem like you really like him voice acting a lot more.
00:10:18.431 --> 00:10:23.712
He's like I know it's a very dangerous, you know, path too, because it's uncertain, acting is uncertain.
00:10:23.712 --> 00:10:26.115
So you know are too, because it's uncertain, acting is uncertain.
00:10:26.115 --> 00:10:28.043
Um, so, you know, are you willing to do that?
00:10:28.043 --> 00:10:29.566
Do you love it?
00:10:29.566 --> 00:10:35.225
And that's like the one factor that we talked about Do you love it compared to these other two things?
00:10:35.225 --> 00:10:37.951
And, uh, you know I made the decision.
00:10:37.951 --> 00:10:46.539
You know I'm uh, I think I was about like, yeah, 25, 26 at the time or something like that, and because right now, I just turned 30 in January.
00:10:46.539 --> 00:10:51.072
So you know I was like, ok, yeah, I'd probably take the leap right now and see how it goes.
00:10:52.020 --> 00:11:03.683
From that point, I took classes learning more about the field, how it flows, and, you know, started to really kind of just take myself seriously, not until like 2022, 2023.
00:11:03.683 --> 00:11:07.770
I know I'm kind of jumping all over the place, but that's around the time.
00:11:07.770 --> 00:11:12.365
You know that I really got it, got serious into, and when I went full time was 2022.
00:11:12.365 --> 00:11:15.182
Cause I was like, you know, my friends are telling me to take the leap.
00:11:15.182 --> 00:11:17.754
You know I've taken the necessary steps.
00:11:17.754 --> 00:11:19.221
I've learned about voice acting a little bit.
00:11:19.221 --> 00:11:20.443
I have a little bit of ability.
00:11:20.443 --> 00:11:22.308
I think I can handle myself.
00:11:22.308 --> 00:11:34.386
You know I there's other jobs that you know I'm interested in besides just, you know, the character work, there's narration, there is other stuff too, and I was like, okay, yeah, you know you're young only once.
00:11:34.386 --> 00:11:38.162
So you know, just take the leap and see what happens.
00:11:38.162 --> 00:11:42.690
So we're in it right now and, yeah, that's, that's how I'm here with you all.
00:11:42.690 --> 00:11:50.919
There's a lot of details I left out but for the sake of time I didn't want to, kind of you know You're doing great.
00:11:51.623 --> 00:11:52.346
No, that's perfect.
00:11:52.600 --> 00:12:12.770
I think I can speak for Phil Like that's exactly what we're looking for, cause I think the cool thing about why we started this particular series is whenever you're jumping into the mind of somebody that's creative or creating anything, there's such a unique perspective and journey that comes along with that and we get to take people along the ride for that and kind of sticking with that theme.
00:12:12.850 --> 00:12:41.158
And where we are in the conversation, I'm very curious what your peaks and your valleys have been, as far as your highs and your lows, and I'd love to know whatever comes to mind first about what that looks like, because I know, when we talk to voice actors, a lot of time and a lot of people in this industry, there are so many no's that you are getting right, you're auditioning, you're doing all of these things, but man, when you get that, yes, it is so sweet.
00:12:41.158 --> 00:12:54.352
So I'd love to know from your journey what have been maybe the biggest peaks or the biggest high in your career so far and if you're comfortable talking about the low point giving us that compare and contrast.
00:12:56.019 --> 00:12:58.104
So the biggest highs for me?
00:12:58.104 --> 00:13:31.971
There's been a good amount that I can go off of, that I can go off of, but I guess all the yeses have been the biggest highs because, again, being a guy who is learning to have better self-esteem, every yes seems it's an adrenaline boost, it's a confidence boost, it's confirming that I'm in, I'm in it, I'm in the field and, uh, you know, there are just so many moments that I could, I can go off of.
00:13:31.971 --> 00:13:40.100
I mean to be, to be real, like the biggest one so far, and not to, you know, put everything else like on the bottom or anything.
00:13:40.100 --> 00:13:43.647
This is just the first thing that comes to mind is when my friends and I got Noctiton.
00:13:43.647 --> 00:13:49.655
That's you know, that's you know, I call it a cult classic becoming a cult classic.
00:13:49.655 --> 00:13:51.407
The manga is still ongoing.
00:13:51.407 --> 00:13:57.544
It's only one anime, but it's the deer anime and it's funny.
00:13:57.544 --> 00:14:04.625
If you're wanting a big, giant SNL skit into an anime, that's Noctiton, that's my dear friend, noctiton.
00:14:07.821 --> 00:14:12.029
And you know being also on a technical level, being also remote, living in Florida.
00:14:12.029 --> 00:14:19.664
This isn't not to put shade on voice hubs, but this isn't Texas, this isn't New York, this isn't Los Angeles.
00:14:19.664 --> 00:14:25.934
I'm in the middle of Florida and Florida is trying to get there, but it's not.
00:14:25.934 --> 00:14:40.821
You know, they haven't had the a company go to the levels of crunchy roll yet they haven't had that boom of artists like Los Angeles has over the course of I don't know 60 or 70, I don't know how many decades, um.
00:14:40.821 --> 00:14:49.167
But you know, uh, there are some artists out here that are good and I'm, you know, um, I'm one of them that's grinding and to have something like that, that was a big high.
00:14:49.167 --> 00:14:52.844
That was a confirmation that you know you're doing something right.
00:14:53.205 --> 00:14:57.282
And I think, as artists, I think as actors, you know people who want to make art.
00:14:57.282 --> 00:15:09.292
You know drawing, the podcasting, doing anything in the arts, like, once you're confirmed that you're doing something right, you, it just fills your soul, it fills your heart and it really touches you.
00:15:09.292 --> 00:15:15.923
You know so much so that you can maybe cry.
00:15:15.923 --> 00:15:17.649
I've cried many times while I've gotten into this field and being.
00:15:17.649 --> 00:15:19.937
You know the, the, the, saying that you know men are not supposed to cry.
00:15:19.937 --> 00:15:22.505
Be tough, you know, grind till you die, all that shit.
00:15:22.505 --> 00:15:30.341
You know it's just like chill out, motherfucker.
00:15:30.360 --> 00:15:32.485
You know, grind till you die all that shit you know it's just like chill out, motherfucker.
00:15:32.505 --> 00:15:33.106
You know, let me cry, damn it.
00:15:33.106 --> 00:15:33.629
I fucking got this role.
00:15:33.629 --> 00:15:34.370
I'm really proud of it, fuck off.
00:15:34.370 --> 00:15:40.903
But there are a lot of times, I think one of them, I mean it doesn't even have to like be like a big production project, like I remember.
00:15:41.323 --> 00:15:58.909
Another high was when my friend who I was supporting, who I am still supporting with voice acting you know him and I got into this fan dub or not fan dub, excuse me this fan project for the series Danganronpa and it was called Danganronpa F, shattered Hope.
00:15:58.909 --> 00:16:05.378
And that was one of the first projects that really told me that I could do this, because it demanded character acting.
00:16:05.378 --> 00:16:06.561
It demanded character.
00:16:06.561 --> 00:16:18.316
You know to be boisterous At least that's what my character really called for and I always said, like the character I was cast as in that project was just me times 10.
00:16:18.316 --> 00:16:23.625
And it really helped get me out of my shell and show me that I can do this type of thing.
00:16:23.625 --> 00:16:39.404
And again, that was a fan project, not to put down fan projects, but I know there's a stigma around it sometimes and I'm just like that's how people get started and, um, that's how I got started, that's how my friends got started and I don't know it's led me down a path that I like.
00:16:39.404 --> 00:16:55.754
So, but if I'm not to be real, there have been lows and, um, I have made mistakes, whether it be marketing myself in a, you know, not in the smartest way, or, you know, as an artist, we have pride.
00:16:55.754 --> 00:16:57.807
We don't want to get talked down to.
00:16:57.807 --> 00:16:59.995
We don't want unsolicited advice.
00:16:59.995 --> 00:17:04.746
You know I've exploded on a person for giving me unsolicited advice that I regret now.
00:17:04.746 --> 00:17:09.294
So apologies to that guy who I exploded at, just being real.
00:17:09.294 --> 00:17:11.117
And there have been others.
00:17:11.999 --> 00:17:24.622
I remember, you know, I, stuff didn't really really work out and, uh, in 2021, um, I, I screwed up a lot and I, you know, I had to go back to my old job.
00:17:24.622 --> 00:17:37.115
Friends and I were supposed to move out to Texas to pursue anime work and you have to take responsibility for stuff that you did wrong and I learned that.
00:17:37.115 --> 00:17:42.666
And you have to throw pride out and that's what happened to me.
00:17:42.666 --> 00:17:53.592
I had to grow up even more and say you know, sometimes it just doesn't go your way and you have to do with what you have and you know whether it's your fault, whether it's their fault, whether it's anybody's fault, it doesn't matter.
00:17:53.592 --> 00:18:06.303
You're here now and you have to be in the present, and that's one of the first things that you're taught as an actor Be in the present and you know, be.
00:18:06.303 --> 00:18:07.125
You know, you know, be responsive, you know.
00:18:07.125 --> 00:18:08.752
At least that's one of the things that you're taught and that was a big low.
00:18:08.772 --> 00:18:23.528
I mean, I remember back in 2021, I was not the happiest person uh, very, you know, auditions weren't hitting and you know I was just, I was gravitating towards having a place carry me to where I want to be.
00:18:23.528 --> 00:18:33.432
That's what I looked at Texas as back then and I'm just like that's not how a true voiceover artist, a true voice actor, is supposed to think.
00:18:33.432 --> 00:18:41.272
We're supposed to act because we love it, no matter where we are, and you have to make it.
00:18:41.272 --> 00:18:49.320
You know, if you really love it, if you really truly want to grow into it, you need to learn.
00:18:49.320 --> 00:18:52.270
You need to know that you're, you're always, you're always going to be a student, no matter where you are, and that's you know.
00:18:52.270 --> 00:19:04.612
As I was working that, that job that I hated, I was like you know, I just got to suck it up and just keep learning and just keep, you know, trudging away and maybe something will hit.
00:19:04.612 --> 00:19:05.933
Maybe not, but I got to try.
00:19:05.933 --> 00:19:08.016
And again, this is it.
00:19:08.016 --> 00:19:14.049
I'm not trying to paint myself as like a hero or some crap or somebody that was confident at that moment.
00:19:14.049 --> 00:19:19.606
No, like I had fucked up and so it's just like own up to it and grow from that.
00:19:19.606 --> 00:19:39.027
That was a pretty big low and I would say right now currently it's not a low, but the past two years it's been learning how to perform under pressure, and I'm not talking about like under the pressure of a director, I'm talking about pressure of life.
00:19:39.903 --> 00:19:41.019
Mom hasn't been in good health.
00:19:41.019 --> 00:19:46.272
I've said it in numerous podcasts, but it's on my heart now and I really don't give a fuck, so I'm going to talk about it.
00:19:46.272 --> 00:19:51.751
She hadn't been in the best of health for about two and a half years.
00:19:51.751 --> 00:20:03.723
When you see a loved one, loved one's health, get cut down slowly, it makes you grow up even more and you put that in your read.
00:20:03.723 --> 00:20:11.025
Sometimes, and it's funny, sometimes some directors are like man, you sound really depressed.
00:20:11.025 --> 00:20:12.166
You were supposed the.
00:20:12.166 --> 00:20:15.513
The specs said happy, brother, are you okay?
00:20:15.513 --> 00:20:21.186
Or dude, again, this is supposed to be a happy, a happy line.
00:20:21.186 --> 00:20:23.489
You yelled Are you okay?
00:20:23.489 --> 00:20:32.747
It's like, no, I'm not okay, but no, she had been in seeing her health go down like I'm talking.
00:20:32.747 --> 00:20:37.461
You know open heart surgery, you know amputation because of an accident.
00:20:37.461 --> 00:20:43.888
It was bad and unfortunately she passed back in October of last year.
00:20:44.670 --> 00:20:50.256
And guys, I don't know how the fuck I'm still here or just like focused.
00:20:50.256 --> 00:20:54.911
But I've been learning, especially if you're in this field.
00:20:54.911 --> 00:21:12.173
I can't speak for anything else, I can't speak for, you know, as an athlete or anything, but in this field, this field, demands and deadlines can be budged sometimes and if you have a chance, you got to take it and it's, it's been.
00:21:12.173 --> 00:21:18.882
It was hard to balance that and my mom would tell me it's just like.
00:21:18.882 --> 00:21:21.327
No, I want you to have a good life, I want you to focus on your work, and I would do not focus on me.
00:21:21.327 --> 00:21:22.872
Let me do my thing, let me live my life.
00:21:26.039 --> 00:21:30.210
And it's hard to balance that Cause you know, deep down you're like it's, we're getting towards the end here.
00:21:30.210 --> 00:21:32.560
I want to come see you, you know.
00:21:32.560 --> 00:21:41.683
But you want to keep that person happy and you want to keep that vision of normalcy in front of them so they don't panic.
00:21:41.683 --> 00:21:42.905
That you're panicking.
00:21:42.905 --> 00:21:45.671
To keep calm while acting.
00:21:45.671 --> 00:21:50.222
That's rough, that is tough, that, that's that's.
00:21:50.222 --> 00:21:51.946
I'll never wish that upon anybody.
00:21:53.068 --> 00:21:59.704
It almost felt like hell, but right now, currently it's not a low, but it has been tough.
00:21:59.704 --> 00:22:03.651
It has been rough, it's been very hard to handle.
00:22:03.651 --> 00:22:44.626
I'll be honest with y'all, now that we're away two months out of two months, uh, removed from brick city, brick city was one of the ones where I was losing like a lot of bat, like a lot of battery power, where it was the first day and I was like, oh man, it is, there's some nice people here, but I'm tired like it's and that's disrespectful to you all, to, you know, the other voice actors that you know that got there, that fought to be there, that the people that you know that came to see us, that you know it's, it's like it's hard to explain, you know now I, I think I think we kind of understand from a different perspective.
00:22:44.707 --> 00:23:00.071
Like you know, some context behind the podcast was we were it was very casual at first and more of a hobby before we really took it serious and we were eventually getting to a consistent schedule, but we were doing like two episodes a week.
00:23:00.071 --> 00:23:02.163
That's a lot and that was for years.
00:23:02.163 --> 00:23:03.107
That's a lot.
00:23:03.107 --> 00:23:04.321
Yeah, it were.
00:23:04.321 --> 00:23:05.085
We're madmen.
00:23:05.085 --> 00:23:05.948
I love it.
00:23:05.948 --> 00:23:15.913
And there were times where we were burnt out and we're like we have to put out this content and we had to have that decision of making that adjustment while also serving our audience.
00:23:15.913 --> 00:23:23.327
And, like you mentioned, Brick, I mean you were absolutely, I think, balancing your personal struggles and our condolences, of course.
00:23:23.327 --> 00:23:25.250
Thank you, balancing your personal struggles and our condolences, of course.
00:23:25.270 --> 00:23:25.550
Thank you.
00:23:25.990 --> 00:23:30.096
But you know that's a tough thing to be dealing with on top of the life itself.
00:23:30.096 --> 00:23:42.874
Right, you're looking to achieve those big dreams, but there are challenges on that road and I think you served both audiences Phil, I'm sure you agree here very well, because if that's what you're going through, we couldn't tell.
00:23:42.874 --> 00:23:43.816
And I mean that's again serving through.
00:23:43.816 --> 00:23:53.488
We couldn't tell, and I mean that that's again serving your audience and and I think you did a great job there- thank you, yeah, thank you so much for being so candid with us as well, josh, and, and sharing that with us.
00:23:53.548 --> 00:24:24.623
And yeah, to echo what eric said, you know you really wouldn't have been able to tell and, um, I think that's just a testament to you understanding that being in a situation like at brick city, like we understand the weight and the importance of us being there, like we all had a role to play while we were there, and and and you, you and your entire crew just shout out to everybody just did a fantastic job and it was so great, uh, getting to, to interact with y'all and, like you said, we can't wait to have the rest of the cast on.
00:24:25.184 --> 00:24:26.248
That's going to be a whole lot of fun.
00:24:26.248 --> 00:24:34.589
So I want to talk about oh and also just also echo what you had said, like having also seen a family member just deteriorate over time.
00:24:34.589 --> 00:24:39.688
Like trying to balance your life, yeah, um, amongst that, and try to.
00:24:39.688 --> 00:24:43.344
Just when your friends ask you how you're doing, what do you?
00:24:43.344 --> 00:24:43.926
How do you think?
00:24:44.932 --> 00:24:50.480
you know the answer no, I love my friends you know the answer yeah, but it's like you kind of like it's like a default question.
00:24:50.480 --> 00:24:53.931
People feel like they have to ask you that, even though they know and it's because they love you.
00:24:53.931 --> 00:25:17.525
So I certainly understand that I wanted I wanted to ask you because just now, starting off my voice journey, as a lot of our audience knows, um, and following you guys and following your work since we met back in january um, whenever anybody in your circle is announcing a a new role and you just look at the comments and everybody is so excited and so supportive and eric.
00:25:17.525 --> 00:25:25.089
One of the first things we learn in our very first bold match, surrey, uh, with elizabeth maxwell, uh, she talked about the importance of networking.
00:25:25.089 --> 00:25:34.770
So I want you to talk about kind of the importance of networking and establishing these relationships in terms of helping yourself stay motivated through times where it does get rough.
00:25:35.400 --> 00:25:35.599
Yeah.
00:25:35.599 --> 00:25:47.412
So in that aspect, in that realm of networking, connecting, making genuine connections, making genuine friendships, because to me that's the trick You've got to be genuine.
00:25:47.412 --> 00:25:53.512
You can tell a mile away when somebody is just wanting something out of you.
00:25:53.512 --> 00:26:00.744
And, yes, we are in the field, we are in the entertainment field, we have connections to other jobs.
00:26:00.744 --> 00:26:02.670
You know, yada, yada, yada.
00:26:02.670 --> 00:26:05.546
That's there, it's the elephant in the room.
00:26:05.546 --> 00:26:12.840
It happens At some point if you're talking with another artist, it may lead into you know, talking about jobs.
00:26:13.662 --> 00:26:33.251
But there has to be, in my opinion, I've learned, you know, in my experience, you know from trial and error, if you're not willing to be genuine with the person that you're talking to and if you don't genuinely want to get to know them and make a connection, make a friendship beyond the field, then fuck you.
00:26:33.251 --> 00:26:36.722
Then then you're just, you're just trying to get something out of that person.
00:26:36.722 --> 00:26:43.188
And smart people and there are more smart people than you think out there, especially in this field who will see that a mile away.
00:26:43.188 --> 00:26:43.710
So you can't.
00:26:43.710 --> 00:26:44.531
That's the number one rule.
00:26:44.531 --> 00:26:45.474
You got to be genuine.
00:26:45.474 --> 00:26:51.820
And if you're just trying to get something out of the person, then well, it's going to be hard for you because you got to first off.
00:26:51.820 --> 00:26:52.282
You have to.
00:26:52.282 --> 00:26:54.648
You have to learn how to work by yourself.
00:26:54.648 --> 00:26:59.305
You have to learn how to work without a coach, without somebody holding your hand, without a group.
00:26:59.305 --> 00:27:01.548
You have to learn to work solo.
00:27:01.548 --> 00:27:06.221
You know that's, that's the trick, Like, but that's just a whole nother can of worms.
00:27:06.221 --> 00:27:07.946
I get passionate about this stuff.
00:27:07.946 --> 00:27:11.125
So I'm not yelling at you all, so I'm just, I'm just talking towards myself.
00:27:11.125 --> 00:27:28.012
But when it, when it comes to networking, it's so important because there can be a stigma with it, just from everything I just mentioned, but just coming at it with you know, being genuine and wanting to know the person, that's important.
00:27:28.012 --> 00:27:34.909
If we're getting really technical with it, I can only speak from my end Because, again, I have not been in a hub.
00:27:35.099 --> 00:27:36.303
I have not been in a.
00:27:36.303 --> 00:27:40.962
You know where I've gotten, you know, anime work, where I've gotten studio work For me.
00:27:40.962 --> 00:27:42.167
I've never worked in a studio.
00:27:42.167 --> 00:27:48.265
So that's a little insecurity that I have uh right now, but hopefully it happens soon.
00:27:48.265 --> 00:28:00.887
But in the uh, in the realm of being remote and working off of social media, what I, when I was uh in 2021, when I was, I had that low.
00:28:00.887 --> 00:28:25.435
I really, really kicked in the gear of reaching out to like, for example, indie devs and, to me, indie games, indie video games are like the things that are helping keep, you know, creative ideas alive, not driven by an agenda, not driven by, you know, a corporation that's just piling up and, you know, making the next Mario game, which could be good, I don't know but and making the next Mario game, which could be good.
00:28:25.455 --> 00:28:26.799
I don't know If we're going to talk about the state of gaming.
00:28:26.799 --> 00:28:30.142
We're going to be here another hour, oh boy.
00:28:30.162 --> 00:28:31.262
Yeah, but indie games.
00:28:31.784 --> 00:28:45.159
Steam, indie games, all that stuff, the amount of creative platformers, for example, that I see out there, that remind me of Gex, that remind me of Jak and Daxter, that remind me of Sly Cooper, that remind me of Glover.
00:28:45.159 --> 00:28:59.863
You know like they're out there and you know I've reached out to many people, to many people, and I've been respectful, you know, and again, I have to like their project and I want to make a connection with them.
00:28:59.863 --> 00:29:01.246
That's the rule.
00:29:01.246 --> 00:29:10.233
So if I, you know, if I really don't care, unfortunately, if that's just not their project, if I, you know, if I really don't care, unfortunately, if that's just not their project, is just not my taste, then you know I won't go.
00:29:10.233 --> 00:29:21.586
But if they do seem like a nice person, huh, I maybe I'll just have to word it in a certain way to where it's like again, I'm not like I want to know more about your project, but you just seem really cool.
00:29:22.288 --> 00:29:31.561
It's just, it's honestly, you know, it's the lost art of communication that people have lost over the years because we're all on our phones, which can we really blame ourselves?
00:29:31.561 --> 00:29:33.464
No, that's just the culture.
00:29:33.464 --> 00:29:45.057
But when it comes to reaching out to people online, there have been a big I wouldn't say big number, but there have been a good amount of people that you know.
00:29:45.057 --> 00:29:45.960
We're talking casually.
00:29:45.960 --> 00:29:50.528
I'm talking with other artists and they say that they're scared.
00:29:50.528 --> 00:29:51.569
I can't blame them.
00:29:51.569 --> 00:29:52.231
It's scary.
00:29:52.231 --> 00:29:59.367
It's scary to reach out to someone you don't know, because you don't know how they're going to react, that you may be very.
00:29:59.367 --> 00:30:03.266
They may think of you as rude or you're stepping over a line.
00:30:03.266 --> 00:30:04.849
Why are you going into my DMs?
00:30:04.849 --> 00:30:05.511
You creep?
00:30:05.511 --> 00:30:13.382
It's like I was just talking about work.
00:30:13.382 --> 00:30:14.965
I'm sorry, that's the fear and you know I definitely can understand it.
00:30:14.986 --> 00:30:17.490
But when you're again, I can only speak for being remote.
00:30:17.490 --> 00:30:23.288
When you're remote, you have to take, not drastic measures, but you have to like.
00:30:23.288 --> 00:30:24.872
What else are you going to do?
00:30:24.872 --> 00:30:26.141
It's already hard to audition.
00:30:26.141 --> 00:30:29.648
You have these great demos that you commissioned for.
00:30:29.648 --> 00:30:31.721
You need to put yourself more out there.
00:30:32.903 --> 00:30:45.025
If you're not reaching out, at least to some people where you've read the room and you know they seem friendly in their posts on Twitter or Instagram, and you're not willing to at least throw a DM out there, a professional DM?
00:30:45.025 --> 00:30:47.128
No, basically, in and out.
00:30:47.128 --> 00:30:55.321
You know, not dwelling and talking about oh my gosh, I like this video game too.
00:30:55.321 --> 00:30:55.563
I like this.
00:30:55.563 --> 00:30:59.557
You're being professional, keeping it straight to the point, then you know, if you're not willing to do that, then I don't know how you're going to grow.
00:30:59.557 --> 00:31:09.214
I don't know how you're going to I mean, maybe through recommendations, maybe through other means, but for me, that's how I got myself off my feet.
00:31:10.221 --> 00:31:26.700
That's how I networked, was reaching out to different indie devs that helped build up my resume and from there I had more confidence to reach out to other creat, other creatives that had, for example, dubbing experience.
00:31:27.121 --> 00:31:31.830
That's how I met donald guzzi, who's the narrator for my dear friend nokatan um.
00:31:31.830 --> 00:32:08.284
That's how I met um, our friend roly, who's the voice of um gintoki in gintama, and you know, they did these shows from miami and, uh, you know it's, uh, it took me some, you know it took me to, you know, get my courage up, but I reached out, I was genuine, I wanted to make connections with these guys because, yes, they had, you know, you know they had experience in the dubbing world, but they just seemed like genuine dudes, you know, and and I've been friends with them ever since and that was back in again 2021, so four years removed.
00:32:08.284 --> 00:32:11.087
But um, yeah, I didn't.
00:32:11.087 --> 00:32:20.614
It grows as you keep reaching out as you kind of kind of feel out how you, as your own individual, reach out to others.
00:32:20.614 --> 00:32:23.741
What's unique to you, um, you go off of that.
00:32:23.741 --> 00:32:26.310
So that's that's what I have to say on that.
00:32:26.339 --> 00:33:02.194
I don't know if that helps, but yeah I definitely think it does, and I think that that's really like telling from your social media profile like how much networking you are doing, not just on your end, but one thing that I really enjoy from now, following you on Instagram, for example, not just seeing what you announce that you're going to be partaking in or doing voiceover work for, but other projects that you're passionate about, or friends projects, people's Kickstarters, people that inspire you, whether that's a post or something thrown on your story.
00:33:02.194 --> 00:33:04.737
I'm just very curious, like what?
00:33:04.737 --> 00:33:12.191
What makes you go that extra mile to continue to lend a helping hand, to support other creators?
00:33:12.191 --> 00:33:27.340
We talked at brick and you know there was a group of you guys just uplifting each other from the entire weekend that that, uh, energy was infectious, and I think that's such a positive thing that we could tell right away that all of you bring.
00:33:27.340 --> 00:33:35.384
So what kind of drives that from your end to take those extra steps when it's just so easy to leave a like and move on?
00:33:36.026 --> 00:33:36.307
okay.
00:33:36.307 --> 00:33:39.492
So this, this may be a deep, a very deep answer.
00:33:39.492 --> 00:33:39.993
Is that okay?
00:33:39.993 --> 00:33:41.162
Is that all right, y'all?
00:33:41.162 --> 00:33:43.265
Yeah, no, no I think you're.
00:33:43.404 --> 00:33:45.367
No, no, we are digging in deep here.
00:33:45.508 --> 00:33:46.568
Yeah, yeah, I love it.
00:33:46.568 --> 00:33:50.976
Did we say casual, I meant deep, I love it, I love it, people love that.
00:33:50.976 --> 00:33:52.385
That gets you more views.
00:33:54.221 --> 00:33:58.269
Yes, if you could actually work up the tiers at this point, that'd be great for clips.
00:33:58.471 --> 00:33:59.353
Oh my gosh.
00:33:59.353 --> 00:34:06.942
No, but to answer your question, that's how my mom taught me.
00:34:06.942 --> 00:34:14.530
That's how my mom taught me when you see someone trying and they're genuine about it and they love it, you can see that they love it.
00:34:14.530 --> 00:34:18.996
You want to support, especially if you work with them too.
00:34:18.996 --> 00:34:32.641
I know some, for example, indie devs, who are not getting the algorithm on their side, which is bullshit, and you just want to lend a helping hand.
00:34:32.641 --> 00:34:40.005
And especially if you get to know the person and maybe you know their life, maybe you get to know, like, what they've been through, it gets personal.
00:34:40.005 --> 00:34:53.353
And I feel how do I say this Once you make not the whole thing because I'm learning that as well Like, if you make this field personal as a whole, it's not gonna be fun.
00:34:53.353 --> 00:34:54.873
That's what I've learned.
00:34:55.614 --> 00:35:26.572
But if you make it personal on that sense of just caring, of just lending a hand, being helpful, being uplifting, even if you're having just the roughest day and if you have imposter syndrome kicking your ass, if you're getting mad at your friends for getting roles that you may want or that you're not able to audition for because of where you are, once you get past that and you're like screw my insecurities, like this person deserves some praise.
00:35:26.572 --> 00:35:29.795
Or you know, like, that's not how I would like.
00:35:29.795 --> 00:35:33.489
How would I want to be treated in this sense?
00:35:33.489 --> 00:35:40.286
You know like they deserve the praise, and then you're not even doing it just because of that, too, it's like this person deserves it.
00:35:40.286 --> 00:35:42.824
Or you're just like, yeah, they just deserve it.
00:35:42.824 --> 00:35:45.231
Or you're just like, yeah, they just deserve it.
00:35:45.231 --> 00:36:00.123
You have to give them their flowers because they're probably going through the same struggle that you're going through auditioning every single day and not getting anything, trying their hardest, you know, spent $500 worth on coaching and still not getting something.
00:36:00.123 --> 00:36:03.489
Just like you, yeah, they deserve their flowers.
00:36:03.489 --> 00:36:05.693
We're all going through it in our own way.
00:36:06.862 --> 00:36:10.632
And, put on top, you know they're going through life stuff like you have.
00:36:10.632 --> 00:36:22.664
It gets really personal very fast and you know my patience hasn't been the best, I will be honest, ever since October or ever since two years ago.
00:36:22.664 --> 00:36:26.253
But it's growing up.
00:36:26.253 --> 00:36:31.405
I can only speak for men because I'm a man, or I can just speak.
00:36:31.405 --> 00:36:32.590
I don't know I can speak for everybody.
00:36:32.590 --> 00:36:32.951
I don't know.
00:36:33.860 --> 00:36:38.833
As you grow up, you're just like why would I send out that negative energy to people?
00:36:38.833 --> 00:36:39.679
Why?
00:36:39.679 --> 00:36:41.003
What's the reason?
00:36:41.003 --> 00:36:42.704
What is your, why?
00:36:42.704 --> 00:36:51.469
Why you know so and do you want to emanate that or put that out there so you know they can feel what you're feeling, so you can feel better about yourself?
00:36:51.469 --> 00:36:54.454
No, that's a dick move.
00:36:54.454 --> 00:37:04.474
So To me, showing encouragement to other artists who are suffering just like you is very important.
00:37:05.161 --> 00:37:07.128
And you don't know where their mental health is at too.
00:37:07.128 --> 00:37:09.547
Maybe they really did need that role to get through the day.
00:37:09.547 --> 00:37:10.710
You just never know.
00:37:10.710 --> 00:37:13.188
You just never know what somebody else is going through.
00:37:13.188 --> 00:37:18.431
So that's why I try to support when I can, when I'm able to.
00:37:18.431 --> 00:37:31.128
Again, it just all comes back to what my mom taught me and you know, supporting others and helping others, just helping folks in general.
00:37:31.128 --> 00:37:34.360
Again, I'm not a perfect person.
00:37:34.360 --> 00:37:41.009
I don't look at myself sometimes as a good dude sometimes, because that's just where my self-esteem kind of leads me.
00:37:41.009 --> 00:37:48.012
But you know, I would say I'm decent and you just, you just want to be good to others.
00:37:49.059 --> 00:38:05.887
Going back to, to Brick City, that group I'm blessed to have that group to, to have been, you know, to be around folks like you know, like Donald, like Rue, like Bay, that uplift each other.
00:38:05.887 --> 00:38:09.146
It was tough.
00:38:09.146 --> 00:38:11.969
It's tough when you're new on the scene too.
00:38:11.969 --> 00:38:17.164
I mean, I'm not going to hide it we were there.
00:38:17.164 --> 00:38:18.148
We were new on the scene.
00:38:18.148 --> 00:38:19.768
We had Erica there, we had Zach Aguilar there.
00:38:19.768 --> 00:38:20.313
We were new on the scene.
00:38:20.313 --> 00:38:25.228
We had we had Erica Erica there, we had Zach Aguilar there and we had Christina Kelly there.
00:38:25.420 --> 00:38:35.213
It's, these are big stars in anime and their lines are long and it's like you have to mentally be ready for that and fight with that.
00:38:35.213 --> 00:38:40.547
If people don't really know you, you know, you have to know that you still are worth a shit.
00:38:40.547 --> 00:38:43.269
You know, if people don't really know you, you know you have to know that you still are worth a shit.
00:38:43.269 --> 00:38:44.371
You know, and you know being again.
00:38:44.371 --> 00:38:47.014
Why I say we're blessed is because we were in that group.
00:38:47.014 --> 00:38:52.043
We are in that group and we go to cons as a group sometimes and you know to have that.
00:38:52.043 --> 00:38:54.889
You know those people that have your back.
00:38:54.889 --> 00:39:04.313
It's a blessing and we just want to keep each other's energies up and keep the good vibes.
00:39:05.940 --> 00:39:29.143
I think it's also very important to find that balance, because there's nothing wrong with being like man I wish that was me, wish I had done that but also still be excited for your friend, for your peer and that, but also still be excited for your friend, for your peer I meant to mention this as well when you were talking about you know how difficult it is to hear those rejections and to come up short.
00:39:29.143 --> 00:39:36.563
You know, I did stand-up comedy for 10, almost 11 years and those nights where it was bad, I was like dude, do I suck at this?
00:39:36.563 --> 00:39:40.030
And at the same time it time it's like no, no, I don't.
00:39:40.030 --> 00:39:42.621
I know I had a bad night, eric.
00:39:42.621 --> 00:39:46.094
We, at the same time, we know we're good at what we do.
00:39:46.596 --> 00:39:50.666
When it comes to not only this, when it comes to podcasting, but also when it comes to panel hosting.
00:39:50.666 --> 00:39:53.360
We can say we could do what that person does.
00:39:53.360 --> 00:39:58.688
But we also understand that person that is in that position worked their ass off to be there like that's not.
00:39:58.688 --> 00:40:00.679
They're not there by accident.
00:40:00.679 --> 00:40:01.501
Will we do?
00:40:01.501 --> 00:40:02.684
We want to come and take their job?
00:40:03.186 --> 00:40:06.032
yeah, but, do we want to join them.
00:40:06.032 --> 00:40:06.981
Do we want to join them?
00:40:06.981 --> 00:40:08.684
Right exactly, we want to join them.
00:40:08.684 --> 00:40:09.706
Yeah, we're ready.
00:40:09.726 --> 00:40:13.442
You have to find that balance, so it's like that.
00:40:13.442 --> 00:40:15.766
That's why it's so great to see uh eric.
00:40:15.766 --> 00:40:19.655
When we see the short box, you know win best podcasts.
00:40:19.655 --> 00:40:27.253
We're coming for that award, uh jacksonville, by the way, oh yeah when we get your roses, boy, when we see them win.
00:40:27.253 --> 00:40:40.188
When we see ryan and gam doing all these great things here, it's like this is awesome because it benefits all of us yeah, you know so but also it's okay to be, to have have a little competition.
00:40:40.228 --> 00:40:46.664
So there was a comic I worked with in Dallas and I knew he was way better than I was A great guy.
00:40:46.664 --> 00:40:48.190
Great person works his ass off.
00:40:48.190 --> 00:40:48.981
He's now.
00:40:48.981 --> 00:40:50.286
He's been on Conan.
00:40:50.286 --> 00:40:51.425
He's got a Netflix special.
00:40:51.425 --> 00:40:54.664
I think he's about to be on an HBO show, ralph Barbosa.
00:40:54.724 --> 00:40:59.141
go look him up and I saw him in Orlando last year or two years ago.
00:40:59.141 --> 00:41:09.530
He performed at the improv and he was lucky enough Lucky he remembered me, so we got to hang out with him after the show and just got to tell him how proud I was of him.
00:41:09.530 --> 00:41:11.210
Man, and you saw that coming.
00:41:11.210 --> 00:41:20.998
So like it's a good feeling, because sometimes, or a lot of times, when other people win, you feel like you win too, and that's a very healthy mindset to have.
00:41:25.659 --> 00:41:26.824
Absolutely my friend, for example, my friend Gerard Castor.
00:41:26.824 --> 00:41:27.164
Shout out to him.
00:41:27.164 --> 00:41:28.530
He's one of the growing voice actors in Dallas, Texas, right now.
00:41:28.530 --> 00:41:30.577
He just announced a role for Dragon Ball Dyma.
00:41:32.159 --> 00:41:32.380
Awesome.
00:41:32.380 --> 00:41:33.920
I think I saw you post about that today, yeah.
00:41:34.221 --> 00:41:47.262
Yeah, like reposted on my story or put on a comment there, and you know it's the people that you're close to the most or that you know who have been in your realm and you just you've seen them grind and you see them.
00:41:47.262 --> 00:41:55.702
You know the lowest and the highest and you know Gerard, for example, deserves that, you know tenfold.
00:41:55.702 --> 00:41:59.788
You know I'm so happy for him and you know'm so happy for him, um, and you know that's where that love comes from.
00:42:00.289 --> 00:42:03.672
Yeah, yeah, I love all of that.
00:42:03.672 --> 00:42:13.048
To turn the conversation back into pop culture, uh, you know you mentioned some of those characters that were very important to you growing up.
00:42:13.048 --> 00:42:14.211
God love ed and netty.
00:42:14.211 --> 00:42:16.143
So good love that whole era.
00:42:16.143 --> 00:42:19.251
Courage, dexter, johnny, bravo.
00:42:19.251 --> 00:42:31.967
Like all those characters, uh, powerpuff girls, uh, the original, not the uh live action that leaked here recently over on social media, but who, uh, to to kind of bring it to present day are there.
00:42:31.967 --> 00:42:40.362
Who are those characters that you maybe resonate with now, because I think a lot of old heads will kind of get in their space, like, well, it's not like it used to be and like it is.
00:42:40.362 --> 00:42:44.512
You just kind of you got to look for it because there is so much more now to choose from.
00:42:44.512 --> 00:42:57.768
So who are some of those characters, whether it be animation, whether it be live action, who are some of those characters that you that resonate with you now that I think are you know people are are sleeping on so for right now, and I'll answer the question.
00:42:57.829 --> 00:42:58.650
I'll'll just give you a.
00:42:58.650 --> 00:43:04.510
Totally to be transparent, when you're full time and voiceover, you don't have a lot of time.
00:43:04.510 --> 00:43:07.168
Sometimes you're stressed out most of the time.
00:43:07.168 --> 00:43:12.532
So my friends have gotten on me to play more video games, to watch more shows.
00:43:12.532 --> 00:43:19.567
That's why this isn't an announcement, but that's why I want to stream, just to have an excuse to play a video game.
00:43:19.567 --> 00:43:22.588
I don't even care if there's nobody in the chat.
00:43:22.588 --> 00:43:25.389
It's like we're going to be playing Bloodborne.
00:43:25.389 --> 00:43:27.266
Oh, hey, hey.
00:43:27.960 --> 00:43:28.342
Hey, listen.
00:43:28.342 --> 00:43:32.592
I streamed Jurassic World Evolution 2 to four of my friends last night and we had a great time.
00:43:32.592 --> 00:43:34.626
Oh hell yeah, dude.
00:43:35.119 --> 00:43:36.402
Hell, yeah, that's how it starts.
00:43:36.402 --> 00:43:38.204
But yeah, see, it's fun.
00:43:38.204 --> 00:44:10.014
But to answer the question, hmm, I'm thinking right now, you know, the one thing that comes to mind one of the few or the one show that I've watched, that's you know, that's been recent, is Invincible and the characters in that are very impactful and it's just a heavy take on superheroes Very gory but super real at the same time of how it is to be a hero and the responsibility it takes to be a hero.
00:44:10.014 --> 00:44:19.373
Yeah, there's a lot of struggle in that which can be fun to watch, to see the hero kind of go through it and overcome it and see how much he's been holding back.
00:44:19.373 --> 00:44:21.320
I'll just say that.
00:44:21.320 --> 00:44:39.525
But another show man, I feel like an, like an old guard because I'm so still enamored with the run that ed ed netty had, that danny antinucci, his vision, what he had, how matt hill and all of them, how they acted in that show.
00:44:39.545 --> 00:44:43.324
A Aaron Fitzgerald or Fitzpatrick I can never get her last name right.
00:44:43.324 --> 00:44:45.329
I'm so sorry, aaron.
00:44:45.329 --> 00:44:48.844
I'll just say Aaron, she was in Persona 2.
00:44:48.844 --> 00:44:52.126
She's awesome, just that whole cast, how they did it.
00:44:52.126 --> 00:44:56.648
Peter Calamus Roll it really did like shape my whole childhood.
00:44:56.648 --> 00:45:00.108
But you know, I, I can't.
00:45:00.108 --> 00:45:07.007
I haven't dabbled in the recent cartoon network, which I again, I don't like how that's been handled.
00:45:07.007 --> 00:45:11.106
Um, just like, not cartoons as a whole, but like recently with the company.
00:45:11.106 --> 00:45:12.213
I don't like how that's been handled.
00:45:12.213 --> 00:45:13.981
I don't like how animation's been handled.
00:45:13.981 --> 00:45:16.447
Overall, it should be more respected, like the.
00:45:16.447 --> 00:45:17.429
The coyote movie.
00:45:17.429 --> 00:45:20.045
That got, that got, uh, that got canceled.
00:45:20.105 --> 00:45:42.483
The full-on movie just thrown out for tax purposes and then, and then we learned there's a looney tunes, there's a daffy duck and it's just daffy and porky daffy and porky movie where they go to space, remember in, remember in deadpool, when he's like it's like the studio couldn't afford the other x-men, like that's what it feels, like it's just, it's just daffy and forky.
00:45:42.483 --> 00:45:43.465
Where's the rest of them?
00:45:44.025 --> 00:45:59.052
oh, that that's a funny premise though, dude, like see stuff like that, like, and I I don't know, I just animators as a whole have been some of the most disrespected group of workers I have seen, and I I'm like.
00:45:59.052 --> 00:46:00.838
Why, though, like this?
00:46:00.838 --> 00:46:05.527
Entertainment, and animation in particular, helps shape childhoods.
00:46:05.527 --> 00:46:08.851
They help shape the generation of tomorrow.
00:46:08.851 --> 00:46:21.784
You send out messages through your animation, through like entertainment, and that's how generations grow, and so if you take that away from especially kids, what the fuck are you doing?
00:46:22.606 --> 00:46:24.291
They're going to watch Mr Beast games.
00:46:24.291 --> 00:46:34.947
I think I just had a stroke and then you have these asshole AI animators with their dead-eyed characters and weird hands.
00:46:36.862 --> 00:46:37.686
It's all in the hands.
00:46:37.800 --> 00:46:39.407
people Look at the hands.
00:46:40.280 --> 00:46:45.989
They can never get them right a real artist nightmare is ai's reality really quick.
00:46:46.050 --> 00:46:48.601
Eric, do you want to tell josh about why invincible is in your bag?
00:46:49.684 --> 00:46:50.527
we didn't have to do that.
00:46:50.606 --> 00:46:54.460
No, you do we did, because you did this with jessica cavanaugh on wicked last month.
00:46:54.561 --> 00:46:59.063
So your take on wicked is objectively bad.
00:46:59.063 --> 00:47:00.005
It's like that's okay.
00:47:00.965 --> 00:47:01.726
That's okay.
00:47:01.726 --> 00:47:06.048
No, but you hate Invincible and I don't hate Wicked, I don't hate.
00:47:06.188 --> 00:47:06.849
Invincible.
00:47:06.849 --> 00:47:15.416
I just think it's to a certain extent like it's just a gore fest and I don't like Mark as a character.
00:47:15.416 --> 00:47:18.018
That's like the summary of it.
00:47:18.057 --> 00:47:18.217
Yeah.
00:47:21.239 --> 00:47:21.942
I think the twist is cool, for sure.
00:47:21.942 --> 00:47:25.608
I think a lot of people get hung up on that and it's a really impactful thing.
00:47:25.608 --> 00:47:27.452
That kind of happens out of nowhere, yeah.
00:47:27.452 --> 00:47:32.771
But yeah, I think the movie relies, or the show relies, a little bit too much on gore.
00:47:33.233 --> 00:47:33.512
I agree.
00:47:33.760 --> 00:47:36.690
And I just don't like Mark as a character.
00:47:36.690 --> 00:47:39.146
Love the actor that does the voice for him.
00:47:39.146 --> 00:47:45.527
Of course we're a big fan of his, but yeah, I just don't like the character and maybe that development happens.
00:47:45.527 --> 00:47:50.485
But you're talking about how difficult it is to watch stuff these days.
00:47:50.485 --> 00:48:00.391
I mean we're in the content business to talk about these things, and I get overwhelmed with how many fandoms we have our hands in.
00:48:00.391 --> 00:48:06.684
If I'm not vibing with something, it's hard to continue it, so maybe it gets better in season two.
00:48:07.947 --> 00:48:08.449
I would hope.
00:48:08.449 --> 00:48:10.847
I would hope in the future.
00:48:10.847 --> 00:48:18.306
I will say as a critique for a show like that I do think that Mark gets his ass kicked way too much.
00:48:19.300 --> 00:48:19.885
He needed a training arc.
00:48:19.885 --> 00:48:25.608
Badly, yeah, and and I know it's going on a training arc badly yeah, I know yeah and I know that it's going off of the comic which is very graphic.
00:48:26.590 --> 00:48:40.085
But, like in the show, I'm just sometimes, while I like the storytelling for me, I like the storytelling, at the same time I'm just like, did he have to get his his, his suit ripped up and get bloodied, like you know, black eye and all that?
00:48:40.085 --> 00:48:41.429
Like again, like is this?
00:48:41.429 --> 00:48:48.463
This is just Mark to me, you know, and it's, yeah, that's to be critical of something that I like.
00:48:48.463 --> 00:48:51.085
I feel like that's that's, you know, that's valid.
00:48:51.085 --> 00:48:52.141
I'm like why?
00:48:52.141 --> 00:48:53.740
Why do we have to do that?
00:48:53.740 --> 00:48:55.266
Is that just our culture nowadays?
00:48:55.266 --> 00:48:57.266
Like, is that entertainment, you know?
00:49:00.659 --> 00:49:01.128
And I feel it doesn't have to be that.
00:49:01.128 --> 00:49:06.268
And speaking of animators, there's the whole thing with Invincible and the animation that we again, we will not get into right now.
00:49:06.268 --> 00:49:07.846
Just do not have time.
00:49:08.460 --> 00:49:09.164
I need to catch up on.
00:49:09.184 --> 00:49:11.588
Invincible, but very much enjoying it.
00:49:11.588 --> 00:49:14.288
Yeah, so, like you said, Eric, there's just so many.
00:49:14.288 --> 00:49:18.764
The fact that we do have our hands in so many pots is insane.
00:49:18.764 --> 00:49:24.728
Fact that we do have our hands in so many pots is insane, uh, which is like how we keep up with with all these different things.
00:49:24.728 --> 00:49:37.608
Um, I literally the other day, actually earlier this week, I had time at work to start to, I just jumped on shonen jump and I was like god, I I haven't been on this app in forever, but because I just don't have time here we go, here we.
00:49:37.869 --> 00:49:41.235
I just don't have the time to read, to watch, to play.
00:49:42.724 --> 00:49:43.105
It's insane.
00:49:43.105 --> 00:49:44.630
We're adults, we're adults.
00:49:45.181 --> 00:49:46.342
I'm tired all the time.
00:49:46.342 --> 00:49:47.204
I'm tired right now, guys.
00:49:47.204 --> 00:49:49.009
Oh yeah, yeah, I'm tired too.
00:49:49.168 --> 00:49:50.070
We're all tired.
00:49:50.070 --> 00:49:51.032
We're all tired.
00:49:51.340 --> 00:49:54.570
I cannot wait for Collective Con, but I am tired already.
00:49:54.920 --> 00:49:55.621
I'm so exhausted.
00:49:55.621 --> 00:49:57.284
Oh for sure You're tired of it, man.
00:49:57.284 --> 00:49:58.688
I'm so exhausted.
00:49:58.728 --> 00:50:01.052
We're going to be there because it's like I'll be.
00:50:01.052 --> 00:50:05.708
You know I drove and then, like you know, did a bunch of voice work and that's emotional.
00:50:05.708 --> 00:50:06.730
Voice work is emotional.
00:50:06.730 --> 00:50:08.032
Go to Collective Con.
00:50:08.032 --> 00:50:10.719
You have a bunch of personalities and people who are happy.
00:50:10.920 --> 00:50:13.621
You see people you haven't seen in a while, you won't be able to tell.
00:50:14.202 --> 00:50:21.266
Oh man, you won't be able to tell, but I am, we're going to walk in and fall over Like walk through the door and just fall over.
00:50:21.266 --> 00:50:24.489
We will suffer together, brothers, we will suffer together.
00:50:24.489 --> 00:50:25.289
And I'm just a guest.
00:50:25.289 --> 00:50:29.492
I'm not a guest, but I'm just a person that's just going.
00:50:29.492 --> 00:50:32.114
I bought my ticket today $55.
00:50:32.896 --> 00:50:35.498
I couldn't get it on my cell phone, by the way, so I got to fix that.
00:50:35.498 --> 00:50:39.487
Oh crap, I got to get my Spookala ticket, god dang, it Did those prices go up already.
00:50:39.487 --> 00:50:40.208
God dang it.
00:50:40.208 --> 00:50:41.472
I think it was tonight at 8 o'clock.
00:50:43.083 --> 00:50:44.128
Sorry to make a tangent.
00:50:44.128 --> 00:50:51.289
Sorry to make a tangent, but to go back on the animation thing, I think one thing that people need to watch right now or get on the train on is One Piece.
00:50:51.289 --> 00:50:55.262
I'm sorry One Piece, oh Phil, one Piece.
00:50:55.481 --> 00:50:55.742
I guess it.
00:50:55.742 --> 00:50:57.503
This is your turn to talk.
00:50:57.844 --> 00:50:58.846
You don't like One Piece?
00:50:59.186 --> 00:51:00.067
You don't like One Piece?
00:51:00.086 --> 00:51:01.068
You just won't watch it.
00:51:01.228 --> 00:51:04.592
I'm not going to commit to something with that many episodes.
00:51:04.592 --> 00:51:09.157
I will defend him until the One Piece comes out the One Piece yeah.
00:51:09.157 --> 00:51:10.608
The refusal to watch.
00:51:10.608 --> 00:51:15.487
It is going to be unbearable, but I will say I am on Skypiea right now.
00:51:15.568 --> 00:51:17.351
Nice, nice, nice.
00:51:17.739 --> 00:51:20.929
Just like Alabasta, it drags.
00:51:21.269 --> 00:51:21.831
It does drag.
00:51:22.326 --> 00:51:22.875
It drags.
00:51:22.894 --> 00:51:23.179
It does drag.
00:51:23.681 --> 00:51:24.726
There is a lot of filler.
00:51:24.726 --> 00:51:29.340
However and I say this every time I fucking love the show already.
00:51:29.340 --> 00:51:32.610
I know people say it takes till this arc or this arc.
00:51:32.610 --> 00:51:37.510
The second I saw Luffy's goofy ass fucking smile and I met all these characters.
00:51:37.510 --> 00:51:39.153
I was on board.
00:51:39.153 --> 00:51:49.612
So I definitely agree with you that people should be watching One Piece, but I also can acknowledge the 1,000 episode thing is a real hurdle to cross.
00:51:49.632 --> 00:51:52.925
It is it scared me back in 2018.
00:51:52.925 --> 00:51:59.909
Jesus Christ, excuse me, jeez Louise, that is, yeah, 2018.
00:51:59.909 --> 00:52:01.744
I still can't believe that.
00:52:01.744 --> 00:52:07.887
My friend got me into it and I was scared, but I took it slowly, I took breaks.
00:52:07.887 --> 00:52:16.012
Um, I think people when they say like yo get into one piece, they're like watching one go and I'm like, no, I'm not, that's not what I'm saying.
00:52:16.012 --> 00:52:23.222
Take a break after an arc or and just come back to it another time during the year or some some stuff like that.
00:52:23.322 --> 00:52:35.016
But I would have to say when you are hooked is around the time of the Sabote uh, yeah, sabote arc, cause that's when things start to change.
00:52:35.016 --> 00:52:42.152
That's when things start to you know, the story takes a weird turn and you're like, oh, okay, that's happening.
00:52:42.152 --> 00:52:46.148
And then when you get to Marineford, that's one of the peaks of One Piece.
00:52:46.148 --> 00:52:47.371
That's some good stuff.
00:52:47.371 --> 00:52:57.284
However, to anybody who's just scared of just going down that rabbit hole, I will also say that the live action is pretty good too.
00:52:57.284 --> 00:52:59.248
I love the live action.
00:52:59.248 --> 00:53:06.889
That's the first anime live action besides the Rurouni Kenshin movies that are like, yeah, this is some good stuff.
00:53:06.889 --> 00:53:08.304
I would definitely recommend that.
00:53:09.159 --> 00:53:11.369
Yeah, the live action was very good.
00:53:11.369 --> 00:53:12.865
I very much enjoyed it.
00:53:12.865 --> 00:53:18.349
I'm excited for the second season, absolutely To see how they do everything there.
00:53:18.349 --> 00:53:20.146
But I'm very curious.
00:53:20.146 --> 00:53:24.827
There's so many fandoms we still need to jump into here, so sticking just kind of in the media realm.
00:53:24.827 --> 00:53:31.675
And then, phil, maybe we can jump to some of those extra ones that we don't normally get to talk about with most of our guests, which is a super cool.
00:53:31.675 --> 00:53:34.949
Again back to when we did two episodes, uh, a week.
00:53:34.949 --> 00:53:39.809
We were covering like sports and wrestling and all that stuff.
00:53:39.809 --> 00:53:44.769
We really had to condense it down, so just kind of sticking with like films and gaming.
00:53:44.769 --> 00:53:45.391
I'm kind of curious.
00:53:45.391 --> 00:53:46.726
We'll actually do one of each.
00:53:46.726 --> 00:53:48.041
What is?
00:53:48.041 --> 00:54:00.949
If you could kind of go back in any point in time to see a movie on the big screen in theaters and to play a video game for the first time, what would that movie and video game be?
00:54:01.639 --> 00:54:04.746
So for me, iron man was always.
00:54:04.746 --> 00:54:07.632
It helped me a lot when I was a kid.
00:54:07.632 --> 00:54:14.992
It's weirdly, like weirdly was one of the sources that helped me try to get into shape.
00:54:14.992 --> 00:54:15.592
It's weird.
00:54:15.592 --> 00:54:20.489
It's weird Like I just I love Tony as a character.
00:54:20.489 --> 00:54:24.947
He's imperfect, but he still tries, and he's still imperfect when he tries.
00:54:24.947 --> 00:54:29.943
People are like but you're, but aren't you like a captain america, like you're such a good dude.
00:54:29.943 --> 00:54:32.510
I'm like no, I'm a tony, I'm a start like.
00:54:32.510 --> 00:54:33.293
I love tony stark.
00:54:33.293 --> 00:54:34.141
He's great.
00:54:34.501 --> 00:54:38.945
Um, the one movie that I would want to go back to and watch over again for the first time is Endgame.
00:54:38.945 --> 00:54:46.534
I know that's probably a uh, you know, a bandwagon answer, but for me, endgame just hit it.
00:54:46.534 --> 00:54:50.304
Um, it was the, the end of the infinity saga.
00:54:50.304 --> 00:54:58.304
It was the end of 10 years of straight storytelling through many films that we have not like.
00:54:58.304 --> 00:55:03.302
We haven't seen anything like that and it wrapped up beautifully.
00:55:03.302 --> 00:55:07.289
I mean I am iron man, I am I and I am iron man.
00:55:07.289 --> 00:55:16.786
Like, started with him, ended with him and just to see that over again, that that would be cool for the first time, like that'd be awesome video game.
00:55:16.786 --> 00:55:18.610
Now, that's hard.
00:55:18.610 --> 00:55:30.331
Oh man, goodness, gracious man, that's a roughy, that's a roughy.
00:55:30.331 --> 00:55:31.554
I can only have one answer right.
00:55:32.115 --> 00:55:33.139
I mean, there's no real rules.
00:55:33.159 --> 00:55:33.619
Would you like us to go?
00:55:34.320 --> 00:55:35.619
Yeah, I was like there's no real rules.
00:55:35.820 --> 00:55:42.454
But while you're thinking about yours, mine are easy because I've had time to think about the question.
00:55:42.454 --> 00:55:47.262
It's a lot easier when you've asked yourself that question and you're not on the spot my movie.
00:55:47.262 --> 00:55:48.608
Phil knows both answers.
00:55:48.608 --> 00:56:00.570
My movie is your Name, the anime film that is my all-time favorite film, and the video game is Bioshock and honestly it's a 1A, 1b for Bioshock and Bioshock Infinite.
00:56:00.570 --> 00:56:03.067
I love those games almost equally.
00:56:03.067 --> 00:56:05.847
Phil, what is your movie and your game?
00:56:06.862 --> 00:56:07.085
Now.
00:56:07.085 --> 00:56:09.748
I mean, I technically did see this movie in theaters.
00:56:09.748 --> 00:56:11.427
It's like my first core memory.
00:56:11.427 --> 00:56:17.847
But I would like to go back and experience Jurassic Park again for the first time, erase it from my memory and just watch it again.
00:56:17.847 --> 00:56:23.606
I watched it in a movie theater in Puerto Rico and again, it's my first memory.
00:56:23.626 --> 00:56:29.585
I was five years old when it came out Nice, and for the video game it's kind of it kind of changes over time.
00:56:29.585 --> 00:56:37.840
But more recently I would have to say it's Red Dead Redemption 2, because when I played through that game the first time, first off I was I was moving.
00:56:37.840 --> 00:56:39.684
I had moved from Dallas back to Jacksonville.
00:56:39.684 --> 00:56:56.045
Finances weren't great, so I played the game very late, after it had already come out, and I was living with a roommate at the time who, and I think I really just didn't appreciate the story the way that I should have and taken my time with it because I felt like I was already behind.
00:56:56.045 --> 00:56:57.190
So I kind of rushed through it.
00:56:57.190 --> 00:57:01.402
I have been replaying it here and there on PC, which has been fantastic.
00:57:01.402 --> 00:57:08.166
But if I could go back and just kind of sit down in front of a television and really focus on it, I think it'd be Red Dead 2.
00:57:09.047 --> 00:57:09.728
Red Dead 2.
00:57:09.728 --> 00:57:11.391
Those are some good choices, y'all.
00:57:11.391 --> 00:57:20.675
I think if I can do a redo, because this game came out at a time where there was a lot going on at home.
00:57:20.675 --> 00:57:28.385
I was focused more on sports because, a little lore about me, I thought sports was going to be my out.
00:57:28.385 --> 00:57:45.244
If that gives you any idea being a Metal Gear Solid fan, it helps you turn into a man, and Solid Snake really was there for me whenever I needed him the most, you know as a father figure in a way.
00:57:46.987 --> 00:57:51.561
That concept like Tony, like you're not perfect but you're going to do the right thing.
00:57:51.561 --> 00:58:01.306
You don't have all the abilities, you don't have all the superpowers, you're not a super soldier, you're not any of these things, but you do have some ability and you can get it done.
00:58:01.306 --> 00:58:11.804
The one game that I would like to go back on and play it, be focused on it and just take it all in is metal gear solid 4.
00:58:11.804 --> 00:58:13.449
That is a deep game.
00:58:13.449 --> 00:58:19.264
I'm not going to give a synopsis because it would be long, because hideo Kojima games are long to explain.
00:58:22.309 --> 00:58:24.472
Josh, can I tell you this story really quick about Metal Gear Solid 4?
00:58:24.472 --> 00:58:36.409
I've told you this story before, eric, with Brock, a buddy of ours, one of our closest friends from high school, I was over at his apartment and he was playing that game and a cutscene began and we went to go eat.
00:58:38.842 --> 00:58:41.692
We came back and a cutscene was still playing.
00:58:41.692 --> 00:58:41.936
He was like no, and we came back and a cutscene was still playing.
00:58:42.820 --> 00:58:45.403
He was like no, we got time, Come on, let's just go get some food.
00:58:45.684 --> 00:58:45.985
We got time.
00:58:45.985 --> 00:58:49.081
We can go to Five Guys, and it was still playing.
00:58:49.945 --> 00:58:51.610
So that's my Metal Gear memory.
00:58:52.360 --> 00:59:02.420
Hell yeah dude, that's Metal Gear Long cutscenes, a lot of freaking storytelling and a badass main character's metal gear.
00:59:02.420 --> 00:59:07.815
That's funny because that's true, but yeah, that's uh.
00:59:07.815 --> 00:59:09.239
For me it's metal gear.
00:59:09.239 --> 00:59:10.541
Solid 4, the.
00:59:10.581 --> 00:59:11.565
The story is very deep.
00:59:11.565 --> 00:59:22.652
I mean, if you followed solid snake majority of your life up to that point and you you know the stakes in that game, then Then you know how serious it is.
00:59:22.652 --> 00:59:24.884
You know how much this means to the series.
00:59:24.884 --> 00:59:28.010
And just to see Snake as an old man.
00:59:28.010 --> 00:59:43.768
You know this strong individual, this strong-willed man, this strong-willed dude who's just trying to do the right thing, who could just sit in his cabin and just be a drunk, like he did in the series at some point, but still something told him to do the right thing.
00:59:43.768 --> 00:59:52.389
And again he's doing it again, but as an old man, because he has accelerated aging and he's just like I need to save the world one more time.
00:59:52.389 --> 01:00:00.726
That's something I feel that all young men, just young individuals, should play, just to see.
01:00:00.726 --> 01:00:02.530
That's perseverance right there.
01:00:02.530 --> 01:00:13.572
Yeah, I would want to play that 100% and do it over again, because I didn't give it the right amount of respect at the time, because I was just focused on other things.
01:00:14.701 --> 01:00:24.150
Yeah, I have never played a Metal Gear game, so I've been very excited for the Snake Eater remake to come out because I'm 100% going to dive into that.
01:00:24.150 --> 01:00:34.166
I didn't really play a lot of story-driven games when I had, you know, ps1 was my first PS1 and Sega Saturn were like my two first consoles and I was playing, you know, the football games.
01:00:34.166 --> 01:00:35.864
We talked about a lot of sports games.
01:00:35.864 --> 01:00:45.210
I also didn't have a memory card for the longest time For those of you that don't know you used to have to buy memory in order to save a game, yep, and I didn't have any of that.
01:00:45.210 --> 01:00:50.916
So I really didn't get into like story-driven games, I think until the original Xbox, like with Halo.
01:00:55.460 --> 01:01:02.065
So I missed out like on a lot of those older story-driven games Gotcha, gotcha, yeah, it's um story driven games have been like again.
01:01:02.125 --> 01:01:11.041
It started for me it started with Star Fox 64 and a lot of people would be like really, that's a story based, that's a story driven game and it's like it is.
01:01:11.041 --> 01:01:20.184
It is, I mean, fox McCloud is offending his father, who got killed by Andross, and he's trying to save the galaxy with his friends at the same time.
01:01:20.184 --> 01:01:40.893
And for me now, as a grown man I this is the other part of the lore that I've kind of created for myself is that game is a full-on suicide mission to Fox, not to his whole team, because at the end, whenever he says I'll go it alone from here, that's like he had this planned out from the beginning.
01:01:40.893 --> 01:01:44.349
He's like I will take down Andross, no matter what it takes.
01:01:44.349 --> 01:01:50.391
That's the whole game and that's what makes the whole ending, the true ending of that game, so impactful.
01:01:50.391 --> 01:02:05.235
And I it's one of the first endings in a game that really got me Cause I'm like I was not expecting a supernatural type of touch to a rail shooter, that was just a shoot-em-up basically.
01:02:05.960 --> 01:02:06.985
I could talk all day about that.
01:02:07.385 --> 01:02:08.771
I love Star Fox yeah.
01:02:11.239 --> 01:02:16.483
And you know, phil, a lot of these we've known of and again, so many fandoms to dive into.
01:02:16.483 --> 01:02:19.465
Again, so many fandoms to dive into.
01:02:19.465 --> 01:02:38.894
I think one of the things that we got excited about in the pre-pre-show that kind of relates to all this in pop culture is like, especially once you've dived into movies, video games and all of these things, there's that select few of us that not only also like sports but also like wrestling.
01:02:39.516 --> 01:02:44.217
So, you called out the NXT title that Phil had in the background.
01:02:44.217 --> 01:02:48.722
What is your relationship with wrestling?
01:02:48.722 --> 01:02:51.710
I don't know if you know, but wrestling is like the big ticket now.
01:02:51.710 --> 01:02:53.346
It's cool now.
01:02:53.346 --> 01:02:56.048
So I would love to hear your perspective.
01:02:56.048 --> 01:03:09.172
I'd love to hear your perspective on what you've known about wrestling, what type of fan you've been, whether that's afar or hardcore, and then what you think about this new era that we're entering recently.
01:03:09.940 --> 01:03:12.043
OK, so very good question.
01:03:12.043 --> 01:03:16.351
You know, when I was younger, I got into wrestling around the time of 2006,.
01:03:16.351 --> 01:03:21.307
Around the time of the second coming of DX, and you know I was in grade school.
01:03:21.307 --> 01:03:23.748
You know you would do the suck it in elementary school.
01:03:23.748 --> 01:03:28.965
That's what I did and it was really fun and I feel like just like anime.
01:03:28.965 --> 01:03:34.034
Back then a little bit, kids were too afraid to say they liked wrestling.
01:03:34.034 --> 01:03:37.184
Now it's cool, just like anime.
01:03:37.184 --> 01:03:38.405
Thank you Netflix.
01:03:38.405 --> 01:03:40.668
It's cool, just like anime, thank you Netflix.
01:03:40.668 --> 01:03:44.693
And yeah, I got into it around 2006 and I was a diehard.
01:03:45.614 --> 01:03:53.994
Honestly, me and my friends at the time, we watched a bunch of pay-per-views together, talked about it.
01:03:53.994 --> 01:03:54.920
You know, consistently we had our favorites.
01:03:54.920 --> 01:03:56.965
We all hated John Cena.
01:03:56.965 --> 01:03:58.389
You know all that stuff.
01:03:58.389 --> 01:04:03.713
The legendary run that only lasted for, I think, a year and a half but felt like 10 years.
01:04:03.713 --> 01:04:09.692
How you know how Shawn Michaels, super kicked and sweet chin musiced him onto.
01:04:09.692 --> 01:04:11.885
I think it was Triple H and he won the match.
01:04:11.885 --> 01:04:15.266
And we were like, fuck you, cena, Even though we liked Cena deep down.
01:04:15.266 --> 01:04:23.454
We, you know, talking about the Hardys talking about, you know, old wrestlers to talking about, you know, as you get when you get deeper into it.
01:04:23.454 --> 01:04:31.813
You know I bought the WrestleMania anthologies that were in Walmart and learned about, you know, the legendary match.
01:04:31.813 --> 01:04:32.961
You actually saw it.
01:04:32.961 --> 01:04:42.021
You know the legendary match, the match between, you know, hulk and Andre the ladder match, razor Ramon and Shawn Michaels it's.
01:04:43.045 --> 01:04:50.726
I loved all of that man but I kind of grew out of it whenever I was in, when I got into football and things in life got a little bit more serious.
01:04:50.726 --> 01:04:57.353
So you know, and I and I want all of us want to be wrestlers because it was cool to us.
01:04:57.353 --> 01:05:11.128
But you know, when you get more realistic you're like I don't know how to get into that, which, funny enough, there are more outlets now, especially, I think, here in Orlando that there is an outlet, you know.
01:05:11.128 --> 01:05:14.869
So it's like if you want to go into it you can.
01:05:14.869 --> 01:05:17.266
But right now I'm starting to.
01:05:18.539 --> 01:05:21.300
It's not like I want to be a wrestler, but I love just watching the history.
01:05:21.300 --> 01:05:53.047
I have been binging Cultaholic YouTube channel and they put out a lot of good content on the history, like they had, I think, a three or four part, maybe even a five part anthology on the Golden Era, you know, when Vince bought it from his dad and built it to what it is now, which I don't really condone at all what he's done, which sucks because people did look up to him, which is, you know, it's like okay, that's terrible.
01:05:53.047 --> 01:06:01.945
But yeah, right now I'm just, I'm more of, I like to watch the history of it and everything and and this new era that we're going into.
01:06:01.945 --> 01:06:27.534
I feel it's great because, you know, I feel Triple H is going to lead this into the next level, probably, of what Vince wanted, but into beyond that, because how he's been handling stuff with, like the portal, the people taking time off, you know, caring more about the wrestlers who haven't gotten a lot of time or just a lot of light on them.
01:06:27.534 --> 01:06:33.068
He brought the Hardys back, for example.
01:06:33.068 --> 01:06:41.547
He cares, and I love that and you can really see how much he loves this business.
01:06:41.547 --> 01:06:42.751
It's, I think.
01:06:43.119 --> 01:06:45.088
I think WWE is in really good hands.
01:06:45.088 --> 01:06:47.086
He brothers, he, he.
01:06:47.086 --> 01:06:51.552
He brought TNA into the mix, you know, he, he, I don't.
01:06:51.552 --> 01:07:00.286
It's like he wasn't doing that whole Monday night war thing that Vince and and and and Ted had, which was epic at the time.
01:07:00.286 --> 01:07:05.695
I mean, I think it propelled the business to where it is now and we needed it.
01:07:05.695 --> 01:07:09.369
But it's like do we really need to do that again.
01:07:09.369 --> 01:07:13.311
You know, I think teamwork is what makes the dream work right now.
01:07:13.500 --> 01:07:18.693
So just seeing like Joe come into the Royal Rumble, that's revolutionary.
01:07:18.693 --> 01:07:21.769
That's innovation right there.
01:07:21.769 --> 01:07:48.550
So, yeah, I think this new era is going to be really good and I think this current WrestleMania is going to be one to keep your eye on, because, I mean, the Cena turn is one of the most built-up heel turns if you look at it in history, probably even better than the Hulk Hogan going and, and you know, kevin Nash and Razor Scott Hall making NWO.
01:07:48.550 --> 01:07:53.746
I think it's even bigger than that, because Cena's been a good guy a baby face for how long?
01:07:53.746 --> 01:07:58.059
Over 15 years, you know it's been a long time.
01:07:58.059 --> 01:08:00.431
So just to see that, and him working with the Rock too, the final boss it's like this is, you know it's been a long time.
01:08:00.431 --> 01:08:06.492
So just to see that, and him working with the rock too, the final boss it's like this is you know, cody has his hands full.
01:08:06.492 --> 01:08:08.257
We were, we were shouting.
01:08:08.619 --> 01:08:15.501
We were shouting at the television on my knees like I could not, because I could, could not believe you can ask, I am.
01:08:15.701 --> 01:08:20.605
I am that john cena fan that every time he won I was like LOL, Cena wins, Fuck y'all.
01:08:20.605 --> 01:08:21.926
I was eating good.
01:08:21.926 --> 01:08:23.849
One of Eric's worst memories.
01:08:24.270 --> 01:08:26.752
Oh, I knew it here in this house.
01:08:26.752 --> 01:08:29.555
As a Randy Orton fan as well, by the way.
01:08:29.555 --> 01:08:33.823
Oh, a Viper fan I've always been.
01:08:33.844 --> 01:08:34.365
Randy Orton's my guy.
01:08:34.386 --> 01:08:36.614
We've always been like against each other.
01:08:36.614 --> 01:08:43.479
It was at the Royal Rumble at the Madison Square Garden when he had injured his pectoral muscle just a few months earlier.
01:08:43.479 --> 01:08:45.127
Wasn't expected back anytime soon.
01:08:45.127 --> 01:08:47.942
And John Cena's music hits at number 30.
01:08:49.346 --> 01:08:53.327
And I jump out of my seat and this was back when nothing was spoiled.
01:08:53.841 --> 01:08:56.382
You couldn't just go on the internet and find out things were happening.
01:08:56.382 --> 01:09:05.770
So I jump out of my seat and Eric is livid because he knows he's gonna win he knows there's no way they're bringing him back as a surprise.
01:09:05.789 --> 01:09:09.305
There was plot armor around that man especially at that time.
01:09:09.726 --> 01:09:12.416
Yes, yeah, so, uh, john cena, I've always been.
01:09:12.416 --> 01:09:17.563
Uh, he was the first pay-per-view I ever went to was survivor series 2003.
01:09:17.563 --> 01:09:27.011
It was in d and that was when he had turned, so he was heel, but he had joined Team Angle at that time and that's when he was faced.
01:09:27.011 --> 01:09:41.533
From that point on until just a week ago Now, 2003, 21 years yeah, so 25, 22 years, and to make this decision with less than a year left in your career is ballsy.
01:09:42.542 --> 01:09:51.029
Like it is crazy, and I think it's a testament to Cena's character work because of how good of an actor he is and how how much better he has become since leaving WWE.
01:09:51.029 --> 01:09:53.265
So I think it's going to elevate everybody.
01:09:53.265 --> 01:09:54.128
It's going to elevate Cody.
01:09:54.128 --> 01:10:00.347
It's going to elevate the rock, who we have our own opinions on as far as his acting not in the WWE, just we have our own opinions on as far as his acting not in the WWE, just outside of the WWE.
01:10:00.347 --> 01:10:02.671
But final boss character slaps he does.
01:10:02.671 --> 01:10:05.956
So I did see a thing on Twitter that was like what at one point?
01:10:05.956 --> 01:10:08.520
Like with this, do we think that maybe it's a skin condition?
01:10:08.520 --> 01:10:10.287
Maybe he needs to get something checked out?
01:10:10.287 --> 01:10:13.488
Maybe it's not goosebumps, maybe he should go see a dermatologist.
01:10:13.921 --> 01:10:16.744
I love that CM Punk called that out on you.
01:10:16.744 --> 01:10:17.987
He bullshit.
01:10:18.106 --> 01:10:18.448
Yeah.
01:10:18.448 --> 01:10:23.500
So CM Punk coming back like that's something that would never happen under Mr man and?
01:10:23.500 --> 01:10:24.765
And has Triple H been perfect?
01:10:24.765 --> 01:10:25.648
No, absolutely not.
01:10:25.648 --> 01:10:29.579
I think he needs to book the women better, for sure, as far as that division.
01:10:29.579 --> 01:10:33.369
But he definitely going in and bringing in TNA.
01:10:33.369 --> 01:10:44.451
I mean, just two years ago we had Mickey James, who was TNA, who was the knockouts champion she was in the women's rumble and then last year Jordan Grace before she came over, so the fact that they're working together is great.
01:10:44.811 --> 01:10:54.247
Somebody that we'll probably never see working together is Tony Khan and Triple H, and we have ties because of Tony Khan on the football side and the wrestling side.
01:10:54.247 --> 01:10:56.212
I'm just curious have you dabbled in any AEW?
01:10:56.212 --> 01:10:58.708
Because it is kind of a homegrown Jacksonville product.
01:11:01.720 --> 01:11:02.804
I feel so bad for not diving into it.
01:11:02.804 --> 01:11:11.208
I do want to watch Edge slash Cope um he's Edge, I mean at least Adam.
01:11:11.229 --> 01:11:18.244
Copeland was okay, but just Cope is not good Cope yeah, I feel bad, like I'll be totally honest.
01:11:18.365 --> 01:11:20.685
I'm just starting to get really back into it.
01:11:20.685 --> 01:11:33.819
Like, for example, like I want to on my own time at some point on YouTube, watch old like New Japan stuff, because you know I want to learn more about the history of the Bullet Club.
01:11:33.819 --> 01:11:34.943
I want to.
01:11:34.943 --> 01:11:37.850
You know, I learned a little bit from it, from one of the YouTubers.
01:11:37.850 --> 01:11:46.654
I watched Super Eyepatch Wolf and he talked about the Bullet Club with Kenny Omega, with all these guys who are in AEW now.
01:11:46.654 --> 01:11:50.088
So I do like what they're doing at AEW.
01:11:50.088 --> 01:12:08.844
You all might know more than I do, but it seems like it's good from the outside point of view, but in the meat of it I I would probably have different opinions, honestly it's great having a competitor, that there needs to be a competitor and an outlet for these very talented people.
01:12:08.923 --> 01:12:18.546
And and I think wb and aw are both in this situation now where there is too much talent there are like when you say so and so deserves a push, yes, they do, but so do so do these other people.
01:12:18.546 --> 01:12:19.975
So it is rough.
01:12:19.975 --> 01:12:23.890
So, eric and I, we were definitely very invested in aew in the beginning.
01:12:23.890 --> 01:12:25.998
Uh, vince was still around and we weren't.
01:12:25.998 --> 01:12:27.202
We weren't liking that product.
01:12:27.202 --> 01:12:31.161
It was all about, oh, this person needs to go to aew, this person needs to go to aew.
01:12:32.042 --> 01:12:47.850
The problem with aew now is tony khan books aew as a, which he should be, but not enough like a businessman as well, and we've seen some of that carry over into the Jacksonville Jaguars, unfortunately.
01:12:47.850 --> 01:12:57.470
So that's the problem with AEW is there is so much talent there, but sometimes they get caught up in storylines that just don't make any sense.
01:12:57.470 --> 01:13:00.645
Keeping people around a little bit longer than they should be.
01:13:00.645 --> 01:13:03.913
Like chris jericho, who who's um?
01:13:03.913 --> 01:13:14.845
What he has done for the business cannot be taken away, cannot be understated, but in 2025, when you have a stacked roster of young, incredible talent, chris jericho shouldn't be as much of a focus.
01:13:15.448 --> 01:13:20.087
You know things like that should be yeah, should not be happening yet he's had his time.
01:13:20.207 --> 01:13:22.271
He's the first undisputed champion, I think.
01:13:24.280 --> 01:13:31.375
Mox, aka formerly known as Dean Ambrose, in this current role, not really working for a lot of people, right, eric?
01:13:31.375 --> 01:13:34.890
So I really only keep up with AEW through social media.
01:13:34.890 --> 01:13:38.390
Again, in the beginning, eric and I would watch pay-per-views.
01:13:38.390 --> 01:13:40.497
Again, in the beginning, eric and I would watch pay-per-views.
01:13:40.497 --> 01:13:45.726
You know we were very fortunate, being here in Jacksonville, to go to a lot of AEW shows during the pandemic, which was a huge, huge opportunity for us.
01:13:45.726 --> 01:13:51.225
But it's just similarly to like we have too many fandoms, we can't watch wrestling five days a week.
01:13:51.525 --> 01:14:01.613
It's just not possible and I think I think, with this new era of WWE is telling us is that fans want story-driven, like narratives.
01:14:01.613 --> 01:14:04.685
They want to see cinema and fulfill.
01:14:04.725 --> 01:14:29.921
How many times have we said this is cinema, right between the bloodline, the bloodline stuff last year uh the scene of heel turn, like there are so many moments that that make you feel that way, and AEW is so focused on being wrestling that I just I don't think they're ready to be a TV product and it shows there's a lot of holes in their game, but they have a lot of great, great talent.
01:14:29.921 --> 01:14:42.619
And I think you know, as we kind of wrap up the wrestling portion of the conversation and inevitably turn our attention to the Jaguars, I do want to ask you, josh, is there a wrestler that is yours?
01:14:42.619 --> 01:14:44.904
So I mentioned mine has always been randy orton.
01:14:44.904 --> 01:14:47.130
Phil's always been the john cena guy.
01:14:47.130 --> 01:14:50.525
Who was your guy that you always kind of lean towards.
01:14:50.525 --> 01:14:53.721
It doesn't have to be a greatest of all time thing, but who was your guy?
01:14:54.743 --> 01:15:00.612
my guy or girl, it's not a guy girl, yeah, no, yeah I mean shout out to.
01:15:00.712 --> 01:15:05.930
I mean it's like one of the best trish stratus, like can still wrestle today.
01:15:05.930 --> 01:15:17.240
You know it's um, you know showing that age is just a number, but um, for me, kind of going on the theme of just not perfect but gets the job done, he's one of the best.
01:15:17.240 --> 01:15:20.007
Sean michaels bar none.
01:15:20.007 --> 01:15:29.394
Sean michaels, the heartbreak kid like if you read up on sean michaels early on, he's a good guy he is an asshole, not a good.
01:15:29.413 --> 01:15:31.143
He's just like where's my fucking gold at?
01:15:31.143 --> 01:15:32.126
Where's my money at?
01:15:32.126 --> 01:15:33.408
Why is brett hart here?
01:15:33.408 --> 01:15:34.431
Who the fuck is that?
01:15:34.431 --> 01:15:34.961
I don't care.
01:15:35.721 --> 01:16:21.416
I, and you know I can still remember it as a kid watching his documentary, the Heartbreak Kid or the yeah, I think that's what it was called but Just learning just his life turn, you know, just was not the best dude and found God, you know, found his soulmate, just grew as a man, came back faced Triple H in SummerSlam and you know, you can just see there was a, even as a fan who was just getting into it more and looking up, like the history, basically, again, like you know, like I am right now, you can just tell the difference in his eyes, in his how he carried himself.
01:16:21.416 --> 01:16:24.279
There was a difference and that's just very interesting.
01:16:24.279 --> 01:16:39.181
That's breaking the fourth wall to me, because I mean, you know, when you, when wrestling becomes personal and their personal lives, you know, transcend beyond the, the, the kayfabe, just the storyline, just just everything, it becomes special.
01:16:39.181 --> 01:16:48.365
And we talked about you just mentioned Eric about storytelling, or it was Phil, my bad One of you all mentioned storytelling.
01:16:48.365 --> 01:16:54.154
Some of the best this is cinema that I've seen when I wasn't, even when I was starting to transition out.
01:16:54.154 --> 01:17:11.327
I would always go back and see the rivalry between him and the Undertaker and he becoming obsessed with ending that shriek, so much so that he put his career on the line and had one of the best matches again against him.
01:17:11.327 --> 01:17:13.501
It was amazing.
01:17:13.501 --> 01:17:20.641
And then seeing Triple H do it twice, you know trying to, you know it was just that that was good storytelling.
01:17:20.641 --> 01:17:24.509
Another gosh, I gotta put him in here.
01:17:24.509 --> 01:17:27.113
I know, um, I gotta put him in.
01:17:27.193 --> 01:17:30.328
Eddie Guerrero, eddie Guerrero, um, again another anotherero.
01:17:30.328 --> 01:17:31.912
Um, again another another one.
01:17:31.912 --> 01:17:33.784
His story transcends beyond the screen.
01:17:33.784 --> 01:17:38.056
Um was addicted and you know the.
01:17:38.056 --> 01:17:56.942
The WWE kicked him out, or you know, and he was in ring of honor for a little bit and trying to keep the love alive and Ray Mysterio and his boys back then were telling him you know, glad, you're good, glad you're fine.
01:17:56.942 --> 01:17:58.765
You know, glad, you still love, still love the, the.
01:17:58.765 --> 01:18:00.930
You know the sport and we just hope that you come back one day and comes back.
01:18:00.952 --> 01:18:05.382
And no way, you know, comes back and you know he gets in a rivalry with Brock Lesnar and you know this is the giant, this is the beast.
01:18:05.382 --> 01:18:09.894
You know this is one of the one of like the Goldberg of the WWE.
01:18:09.894 --> 01:18:26.144
You know you do not fuck with Brock Lesnar and it's Eddie, you know, and I still remember buying the the no way out because unfortunately I got into it after he passed and just watching that and just seeing him, you know his whole moniker of lie, cheat and steal.
01:18:26.144 --> 01:18:33.800
He hits him with the chair and everybody's cheering and like he does the frog splash and wins it and wins the WWE championship.
01:18:33.800 --> 01:18:37.853
It's like at that time as a kid you really look up to stuff like that.
01:18:37.853 --> 01:18:47.565
You know it's all entertainment, but this is a guy who earned his way back into Vince's view, into, you know, the the Titans view, basically.
01:18:47.786 --> 01:18:48.027
Yeah.
01:18:48.027 --> 01:19:01.644
Um and the same thing with Sean view basically, yeah, um, and the same thing with sean, somewhat of an of an underdog story, and where me and phil diverted with randy and john, uh, that that connected us with was eddie uh, eddie that eddie's probably the only.
01:19:01.885 --> 01:19:07.706
I don't normally like really get sad about celebrity news because, like I don't know them, I'm fans of their work.
01:19:07.706 --> 01:19:24.868
Yeah, like I'm not like sobbing over like every celebrity death, but that was a death of somebody that was in a high-profile position that passed away suddenly, where I was emotionally struck, and I think that's the relationship that wrestlers can have with the audience.
01:19:24.887 --> 01:19:26.112
You can feel it.
01:19:26.380 --> 01:19:30.966
Yeah, you can just feel it and I think it's just such an interesting dynamic between the two.
01:19:30.966 --> 01:19:34.109
Phil, any thoughts there on Eddie?
01:19:35.962 --> 01:19:43.354
Yeah, Eddie is one of those runs where the win, the title win, really it didn't matter what happened as far as the title run.
01:19:43.354 --> 01:19:49.051
So, like Eddie, Daniel Bryan, Kofi Mania, like those.
01:19:49.051 --> 01:19:54.600
We can't really remember how Kofi's ended, but I don't really remember how Daniel Bryan's championship run ended.
01:19:54.600 --> 01:20:03.484
But what we do remember is like those moments, you know the yes movement, the Eddie Guerrero over.
01:20:03.484 --> 01:20:06.925
We don't even care that Brock Lesnar I mean that Goldberg interfered in that match.
01:20:06.925 --> 01:20:11.546
No one, no one remembers any of that I can't even remember that know, one remembers that kofi mania.
01:20:12.287 --> 01:20:14.109
The build-up to that was incredible.
01:20:14.109 --> 01:20:24.872
So, like when you have, when you can pick out those moments of time, cody, finishing the story, there are a few moments where, yeah, like it just doesn't really matter how the rest of it goes cody finishing the story.
01:20:25.154 --> 01:20:36.146
I wasn't even like going back into wrestling at that point, but I knew the, the road storyline, um, I heard it through social media his struggle and that, just again, that's real.
01:20:36.146 --> 01:20:40.243
He's trying to, you know, complete the story that his dad started it's.
01:20:40.243 --> 01:20:41.445
How can you not get behind that?
01:20:41.627 --> 01:20:53.170
I'm speaking to bullet club a guy that left, found himself, reinvented himself, believed in himself, started a rival company and was like all right, I'm gonna come back now and I'm going to be your guy.
01:20:53.170 --> 01:20:58.163
So he should be absolutely commended before, eric, we turned that quarter into that.
01:20:58.163 --> 01:21:07.023
This next topic I do want to ask you guys do we need an Eddie Guerrero style, style iron claw film, with Pedro Pascal as Eddie Guerrero?
01:21:07.023 --> 01:21:07.564
That's yes.
01:21:08.003 --> 01:21:08.585
That's what I've been.
01:21:08.585 --> 01:21:09.626
That's the fan casting.
01:21:09.626 --> 01:21:10.426
I hear about a lot.
01:21:10.426 --> 01:21:15.149
He would have to get big, he would have to, which I think he can do, but is that the casting?
01:21:15.149 --> 01:21:15.850
Is that the movie we need?
01:21:16.371 --> 01:21:19.134
Yes, please, yeah A.
01:21:19.274 --> 01:21:24.899
Eddie Guerrero movie would probably slap and then just end extremely sad, so I don't.
01:21:24.920 --> 01:21:31.309
Well, I haven't seen Iron Claw, but I know it ends really sad, wow so they all basically die Phil yeah.
01:21:31.309 --> 01:21:32.850
That's a family.
01:21:33.773 --> 01:21:39.603
But yeah, it's um, it is sad, and that's a great transition into our our topic of the Jaguar.
01:21:39.662 --> 01:21:39.922
Oh my.
01:21:40.043 --> 01:21:43.048
God, um it, just it really.
01:21:43.309 --> 01:21:50.345
oh, oh, it really is Damn son Literally almost spit out my water, it just almost spit out my water.
01:21:50.345 --> 01:21:56.088
It was a comedic time we really need to add that beaver to the soundboard, Eric Phil.
01:21:57.880 --> 01:22:10.550
We are living and seeing a living storyline, like WWE with the Jaguars Literally, Literally bro, it's a storyline every single year.
01:22:11.699 --> 01:22:19.113
So for our listener base, if you haven't already skipped past the wrestling stuff, if you don't watch wrestling, this is your cue to skip to game time.
01:22:19.113 --> 01:22:26.704
But we're going to quickly talk about the Jaguars because that was one of the first things we kind of connected with when I was talking to you at Brick.
01:22:26.704 --> 01:22:36.350
I don't even know how the Jaguars came up, you just lit up and I haven't lit up about talking about the Jaguars at all this year.
01:22:36.350 --> 01:22:39.430
So it was really nice to get to talk to somebody in a positive way.
01:22:39.430 --> 01:22:57.445
I'm very curious if you can kind of summarize for us what your journey with football has been, because you've been both a fan and you also mentioned a couple times that you've been involved with it and I'm curious what your relationship with football is as a whole and then with the Jaguars.
01:22:57.445 --> 01:22:59.851
What has this journey been like?
01:22:59.851 --> 01:23:11.345
We talk about the highs of the Garrard years and then the absolute lows of the Gene Smith years and a lot of the bad drafts that we had.
01:23:11.585 --> 01:23:19.484
Gabbert, Gabbert of, like the Gene Smith years and a lot of the bad drafts that we had Gabbert, gabbert, and now we're somewhat back to relevancy and then we kind of took a tumble this year.
01:23:19.484 --> 01:23:27.240
So just really curious again your journey with football, both as a fan and getting involved with it, and then how that kind of relates to your journey of being a Jaguars fan.
01:23:27.240 --> 01:23:29.603
Sure, definitely I'll start with kind of like okay, so, uh, being a Jaguars fan.
01:23:30.342 --> 01:23:31.222
Sure, definitely.
01:23:31.222 --> 01:23:37.027
I'll start with uh, kind of like, okay, so, hmm, how do I start this?
01:23:37.027 --> 01:23:41.488
I got into football around 2007, 2008.
01:23:41.488 --> 01:23:50.132
I got into it because and I don't know how I'm making this transition, but we're going to try to make it I needed to lose weight.
01:23:50.132 --> 01:24:14.506
By sixth grade I was 345 pounds and it was pretty bad, like starting to turn eyes there, like that's not good, to the point where it's like the coaches at my elementary school were like, um, mrs Portillo, uh, if he doesn't get active, he's going to end up in a wheelchair, those type of conversations.
01:24:14.506 --> 01:24:16.948
And I remember my coach.
01:24:16.948 --> 01:24:22.289
I won't say his name, but I remember my coach in middle school.
01:24:22.289 --> 01:24:24.024
He walked right past me.
01:24:24.064 --> 01:24:29.023
He's like you're a big kid, or like you know, in a very respectful way, it's like you should join the football team.
01:24:29.023 --> 01:24:30.445
I'm like I don't like football.
01:24:30.445 --> 01:24:31.988
You know, I hate hurting people.
01:24:31.988 --> 01:24:32.850
I don't like hurting people.
01:24:32.850 --> 01:24:34.173
It's just like it's a sport.
01:24:34.173 --> 01:24:45.591
It's a sport, you know, it's for fun, you should definitely come out, it'll be good and so that kind of you know when you're a kid, you know when someone tells that to you, you're like maybe I should watch football.
01:24:45.591 --> 01:24:48.873
So, you know, I watched it a little bit.
01:24:48.873 --> 01:24:55.157
And again, the first season I watched was the 2008 Jaguar season, where everything kind of fell apart after our 11-5 run.
01:24:55.157 --> 01:25:03.345
Yeah, two dropped touchdown passes that Gerrard should have had in New England in the divisional round.
01:25:03.345 --> 01:25:04.878
Damn you, dennis Northcutt.
01:25:05.701 --> 01:25:07.145
It's always New England man.
01:25:07.166 --> 01:25:15.118
Yeah, it is always New England man, miles Jack wasn't down 96, 2006, 2000.
01:25:15.137 --> 01:25:28.670
Yeah, every, every time but yeah, it's uh, you know, uh still, though, you know, um, my time in football when I was a kid and the Jaguars, they kind of grew hand in hand from the get-go.
01:25:28.670 --> 01:25:30.453
I, I saw that I I like to.
01:25:30.453 --> 01:25:33.381
People kind of teased me for it, but I did look up to Gerard.
01:25:33.381 --> 01:25:59.323
He was a tough dude, tough quarterback, quarterback that didn't have a lot around him besides MJD, you know, and a few other guys, but we all know to make a good Super Bowl winning team you need a lot, a lot of tools, and they never correct me if I'm wrong, but ever since you know the, the offensive lines of Tony Buscelli and you know him leading the charge and his, you know his cast there.
01:25:59.323 --> 01:26:06.623
We haven't had really good offensive lines ever since then and I remember seeing Gerrard get killed, killed.
01:26:06.623 --> 01:26:13.252
I remember this one specific game that he got killed in the air mid-air in San Francisco.
01:26:13.252 --> 01:26:16.155
I was like what the Holy shit?
01:26:17.121 --> 01:26:31.747
Not to cut you off, josh, but the issue with that offensive line was really the exterior of it, Because they had Vince Manowai and Brad Meester, who were excellent, and then they could not figure out the rest of it.
01:26:31.747 --> 01:26:32.779
True at that time.
01:26:32.921 --> 01:26:47.063
so, yeah, yeah, yeah, that's where, um you know, and Vince and Brad, I mean, they're the reasons why our running game was decent half of the time that's why MJD or Fred, when I watched him too, um would just.
01:26:47.122 --> 01:26:50.760
You know, you just pop right in through the middle in the trap and it's just like whoa, they're gone.
01:26:50.760 --> 01:26:52.021
But anytime when they run, and it's just like whoa, they're gone.
01:26:52.021 --> 01:26:54.704
But any time when they run outside, sometimes it's just like it's nothing.
01:26:54.704 --> 01:27:03.033
Or you know, gerard's always stepping up in the pocket and you're like he's going to get killed, crap, and let's just say, on a bad play, brad or Vince.
01:27:03.033 --> 01:27:07.322
You know there's just those plays, you can't get all of them.
01:27:07.322 --> 01:27:15.095
And unfortunately, an interior defensive lineman, a nose guard, gets right past him, goes to the three hole and just gets Gerrard, and it's just like damn.
01:27:15.095 --> 01:27:19.448
And then you hear the Gerrard sucks chant, which, as a fan of his, you're like fuck off.
01:27:19.448 --> 01:27:23.109
Yeah, I looked up to him a lot because of his toughness.
01:27:23.109 --> 01:27:32.206
He was a stand-up dude off the field Still is an advocate for Jacksonville apparently, which that's what I've heard.
01:27:33.462 --> 01:27:42.600
But yeah, I remember kind of like growing, you know, as I went through football, like I remember I think they had a good year in 2010.
01:27:42.600 --> 01:27:45.829
And that's when we had a good year in high school football.
01:27:45.829 --> 01:27:47.685
I was able to play.
01:27:47.685 --> 01:28:02.864
I went to Providence Providence School of Jacksonville and our coach at the time, paul Peterson, led us to the playoffs for the first time and that was a.
01:28:02.864 --> 01:28:05.431
We had a heartbreaker against Trinity Christian.
01:28:05.431 --> 01:28:11.787
It was a triple overtime and they won in the end.
01:28:11.787 --> 01:28:18.485
And, yeah, I still remember that that was over, that was 15 years ago and I still remember that it was.
01:28:18.485 --> 01:28:19.649
Yeah, I remember.
01:28:19.649 --> 01:28:21.005
Yeah, I played that year too.
01:28:21.005 --> 01:28:24.506
I was on JV for a little bit, but played as a freshman.
01:28:24.506 --> 01:28:25.328
That was.
01:28:25.328 --> 01:28:26.011
That was hard.
01:28:26.011 --> 01:28:36.309
You're getting yelled at by the coach and you have, like at one point, all seniors on the line and then I was the right tackle and I'm like I am so fucking scared right now.
01:28:36.309 --> 01:28:38.046
Holy crap, dude.
01:28:39.962 --> 01:28:42.109
I don't know what any of this shit is and I'm fucking scared.
01:28:45.021 --> 01:28:51.292
I liked how you said that I am so fucking scared, right now Coach stop yelling at me.
01:28:51.313 --> 01:28:55.335
I am so fucking scared right now, Coach, stop yelling at me.
01:28:55.335 --> 01:29:03.006
Yeah, and at that point too, my coach from middle school had led me, you know, trained me in the weight room.
01:29:03.006 --> 01:29:03.426
All that.
01:29:03.426 --> 01:29:06.952
I'd lost like 145 pounds by that point.
01:29:06.952 --> 01:29:08.493
So that was really cool.
01:29:08.493 --> 01:29:21.042
And again, as I went through football, the Jaguars kind of had their journey Near my sophomore year of doing football, which started to suck after that for numerous reasons.
01:29:21.042 --> 01:29:24.770
I remember that Gerard got benched for Luke McCown.
01:29:24.770 --> 01:29:27.161
I don't know why that happened.
01:29:27.161 --> 01:29:31.652
I don't know why people were like thinking like Luke McCown's going to lead us to the promised lands.
01:29:31.652 --> 01:29:39.567
I'm like, all right, this is where we're at, and this is where we're at in my football career too, because it is crap here right now.
01:29:40.550 --> 01:29:40.810
It is.
01:29:40.810 --> 01:30:02.940
It's bad to look back on it because for every like great Fred Taylor, marie Jones drew game and for every Mike Thomas Hail Mary, there are like so many bad moments you know so many bad moments, so many bad years, phil.
01:30:02.940 --> 01:30:10.780
We were like grasping at straws with people like Ace Sanders and Denard Robinson oh my God.
01:30:10.780 --> 01:30:13.759
And LaRon Robinson Remember he had one good year in Dallas, straws with people like ace sanders and denard robinson and oh my god, and moran robinson.
01:30:13.779 --> 01:30:15.365
Remember he had one good year in dallas.
01:30:15.365 --> 01:30:21.826
They brought him in, gave him a bunch of money uh like a 34 year old tory holt oh my god, like those years.
01:30:21.845 --> 01:30:26.054
Yep, yeah, I remember that 70, seven to nine year that year.
01:30:26.180 --> 01:30:38.751
Those years were so bad and like again when we had saxonville, and like bordles and that one magical year, and then we just completely just shit the bed again.
01:30:38.751 --> 01:30:53.086
Um, and it was funny because in that patriots game where miles jack wasn't down as a reminder, I knew going into half we lost because I remember there was like a little bit of time at the end and they need, and I was like you can't do that, not against New England.
01:30:53.279 --> 01:31:03.713
And I knew we were going to lose that game, and we did, and then Bortles showed exactly the person he really was, which wasn't surprising, but it was.
01:31:04.480 --> 01:31:05.565
Doug Marone didn't trust him.
01:31:05.565 --> 01:31:08.246
The coaching staff didn't trust him, and probably rightfully so.
01:31:08.246 --> 01:31:09.867
But, they stopped throwing the ball.
01:31:17.300 --> 01:31:18.722
And the head coaches too have been like so weird, doug marone mike.
01:31:18.722 --> 01:31:24.373
A lot of retreads like yeah, just awful, awful coaches as well, and that's why I'm hopeful with what we've got going on right now.
01:31:24.373 --> 01:31:28.386
But like duval, like liam cohen doesn.
01:31:28.627 --> 01:31:32.273
Duval, the inflection see Liam.
01:31:32.313 --> 01:31:33.475
Cohen should be a voice actor.
01:31:34.121 --> 01:31:35.185
You should be a voice actor.
01:31:35.185 --> 01:31:36.605
You know inflections nice.
01:31:36.605 --> 01:31:39.929
Liam Cohen just doesn't inspire confidence either.
01:31:39.988 --> 01:31:55.106
So like I don't know, like it's just so weird to see these like high and I mentioned this to Phil I went to the game where we came back against the Chargers in the playoffs the most magical atmosphere I've ever experienced in any sporting event.
01:31:55.106 --> 01:32:01.171
It was amazing and to think that another year later, we canceled our season tickets.
01:32:01.171 --> 01:32:02.432
We didn't want to be there anymore.
01:32:03.634 --> 01:32:05.555
It's incredible man it's crazy, it's incredible.
01:32:06.176 --> 01:32:28.371
And it's really incredible too how the year after that they went 8-3, and we talked about it in the pregame here I think phil mentioned it that no one wants to talk about how trevor was playing mvp football, mvp football his numbers were on par, maybe a little bit lower, but on par with patrick's and then injured, and now it's like we're back in football.
01:32:28.371 --> 01:32:29.432
Hell, it's like.
01:32:29.432 --> 01:32:40.386
And that that goes to coaching too, because I remember reading an article and I, you know I try to be kind of like, eh with articles because there's just opinions, but I do agree with this one.
01:32:40.386 --> 01:32:50.266
That goes back on coaching, because these things happen, especially with the seasons that we have now, with the season extension of like the amount of games you play.
01:32:50.266 --> 01:32:53.970
That's a rough year of games to be put on your body.
01:32:53.970 --> 01:32:58.471
So at some point one of your starters, many of your starters, are going to get injured.
01:32:58.471 --> 01:33:10.702
Your backups are going to be the stars at some point and they need to be ready Quarterback, wide receiver, lineman especially, and the Jaguars don't have any fucking depth at all At running back.
01:33:10.721 --> 01:33:17.284
Really, in my opinion, quarterback no, wide receivers no, and defense shit, it's bed.
01:33:17.284 --> 01:33:31.145
Last year, for some fucking reason, we got rid of our defensive coordinator, which I don't know, but yeah, that wasn't even good last year either, so none of it was good.
01:33:31.145 --> 01:33:33.533
Yeah, that wasn't even good last year either, so none of it was good.
01:33:33.533 --> 01:33:39.420
And I still personally am on the belief that Trevor was hurt starting out of the season and he just didn't say anything.
01:33:39.420 --> 01:33:41.427
That's kind of like my theory a little bit.
01:33:41.427 --> 01:33:46.409
People can go against that, I don't care, but for me I feel like he was still kind of hurt.
01:33:47.360 --> 01:33:49.930
Trev has kind of become, even outside of Jaguar fans.
01:33:49.930 --> 01:33:59.341
Trevor has become the kind of litmus test for ball knowers and non-ball knowers, like people that know and the people that just go based off statistics.
01:33:59.341 --> 01:34:08.953
Because when you look at like, for example, last year, patrick mahomes and aaron rogers had the same statistical season, but did they really have the same season?
01:34:08.953 --> 01:34:17.882
No, so that's one thing I've definitely learned, and shout out, eric, of course, to my co-host, james johnson, over on touchdown jaguars he's, he's the guy once.
01:34:17.882 --> 01:34:18.384
He's.
01:34:18.384 --> 01:34:20.609
Once I started yeah, he is, he's fantastic.
01:34:20.609 --> 01:34:26.244
And once I started working with him, you can really throw statistical stuff out of the window.
01:34:26.305 --> 01:34:33.930
Until you go and watch film and that is one thing that I have gotten better with over time I can't sit here and say caleb williams was trash last year.
01:34:33.930 --> 01:34:36.140
I didn't watch the chicago bears play football.
01:34:36.140 --> 01:34:40.087
I don't know what's going on over there, I don't, I can't.
01:34:40.087 --> 01:34:49.462
I can see that just uh, justin herbert is blowing like a 27 point lead to jackson on the playoffs, but I didn't watch justin herbert play football all season.
01:34:49.462 --> 01:34:56.564
So when it comes to all that, I try to stay out of it on social media because you just really you're not following all these other teams.
01:34:56.985 --> 01:34:58.529
So um absolutely.
01:34:58.550 --> 01:35:08.542
Trevor, like I said, really has become kind of the poster boy for you Gotta watch the tape, because what the tape is showing, what the numbers are showing, are not the same thing.
01:35:08.542 --> 01:35:12.784
I'll say this I would rather be a Jaguar fan than a Cleveland Browns fan.
01:35:12.784 --> 01:35:15.567
I'll take what we've gone through with the Jacksonville.
01:35:15.567 --> 01:35:18.368
Jaguars over Cleveland over what?
01:35:18.409 --> 01:35:25.774
Cleveland has been through losing their team and then it coming back and going through the I mean as many quarterbacks as we've been through.
01:35:25.774 --> 01:35:29.018
You know that guy that keeps adding names to the back of his jersey.
01:35:29.018 --> 01:35:31.449
That's a Cleveland Browns fan.
01:35:31.449 --> 01:35:32.279
At least, we're not that guy.
01:35:32.279 --> 01:35:35.829
So I'll take the Jaguars' history over the Cleveland Browns.
01:35:35.829 --> 01:35:37.306
I don't know how you all feel about that.
01:35:38.122 --> 01:35:38.765
We're one.
01:35:38.765 --> 01:35:39.921
I'm telling you all.
01:35:39.921 --> 01:35:42.181
We're one or a few, I don't know.
01:35:44.583 --> 01:35:47.726
Could be one, could be a ton, could be five, could be a ton, I don't know.
01:35:47.766 --> 01:35:59.877
But when Trevor came and you know that magical season we had and unfortunately we had that crash in 23 or 24, I forgot.
01:36:02.884 --> 01:36:04.027
Yeah 24.
01:36:04.046 --> 01:36:05.069
24, technically.
01:36:05.069 --> 01:36:11.431
Yeah, and then this season was just all bad, yeah, but it's like if we had more depth.
01:36:11.431 --> 01:36:13.467
That goes back on coaching.
01:36:13.467 --> 01:36:18.847
It's funny like even the announcers like I'll watch it with my friend's dad.
01:36:18.847 --> 01:36:24.127
We love watching sports together and it's like we're just one play away.
01:36:24.127 --> 01:36:26.065
It's one play away.
01:36:26.341 --> 01:36:27.867
We lost 10 one-score games this year.
01:36:28.760 --> 01:36:36.554
Yeah, one fucking play away from a great season compared to a terrible season.
01:36:36.554 --> 01:36:43.146
It's that one step to be on par with the Eagles, to be on par with the Chiefs, to be on par with those type of teams.
01:36:43.146 --> 01:36:52.885
It's the teams that can win in tough situations that are under pressure and unfortunately, I think Trevor and a few others are ready for that, but they're not putting them in great situations.
01:36:52.885 --> 01:36:57.560
I mean, who the fuck runs a jet on on first down first and goal?
01:36:57.560 --> 01:37:04.398
You, fucking taylor, like you press you, tear her in god damn it.
01:37:04.438 --> 01:37:05.340
I don't know where press taylor.
01:37:05.340 --> 01:37:06.762
Oh no, he's in chicago, that's right.
01:37:06.762 --> 01:37:11.673
I was like sorry, chicago, oh we actually like swapped bad coordinators.
01:37:11.673 --> 01:37:18.070
We got Shane Waldron and they got Prince Taylor, so luckily I don't think Shane Waldron will be too involved with play calling.
01:37:18.070 --> 01:37:22.692
But I think it's kind of funny that we swap the two most hated coaches on both teams.
01:37:23.119 --> 01:37:24.586
Bro, how do you?
01:37:24.586 --> 01:37:36.051
I remember seeing that last year, last year and I'm like first off, trevor is kind of hurt or he's been hurt, so his running is not on par with what it used to be.
01:37:36.051 --> 01:37:45.645
It's first and goal, okay, or second and goal, but you haven't really implemented the running game at all.
01:37:45.645 --> 01:37:48.487
You haven't gotten that going you should have.
01:37:48.487 --> 01:37:54.186
You're putting our quarterback in danger, like what the fuck is your, is your thought process?
01:37:54.186 --> 01:37:57.000
Did you really think this was going to work against a defense?
01:37:57.000 --> 01:37:59.806
I can't remember who it was, but they had a decent defense.
01:37:59.806 --> 01:38:02.925
I'm like they've been attacking us on the edge all fucking time.
01:38:02.925 --> 01:38:03.226
They've been.
01:38:03.226 --> 01:38:06.761
They've been destroying cam robinson like you're really gonna do that right now.
01:38:06.761 --> 01:38:09.046
Like really like, help him.
01:38:09.046 --> 01:38:10.989
You're, you are, you are, you are.
01:38:11.149 --> 01:38:23.494
Help me, god, help him, yeah for those of you that are still around that aren't football fans uh, if you want to know how to get into football very easily even if you don't have a team, play fantasy football.
01:38:23.494 --> 01:38:27.630
Fantasy football is a way for people, a lot of people who don't even really care about football.
01:38:27.630 --> 01:38:31.706
They'll play fantasy football and it's a great way to get kind of ingratiated with the sport.
01:38:31.706 --> 01:38:35.752
So, um, yes, uh, that that is my suggestion there.
01:38:35.752 --> 01:38:39.912
But, yeah, the jaguars, uh, we, uh, we just can't quit them.
01:38:39.912 --> 01:38:45.087
I'll tell you, I'll tell you this, josh, I'll give you a little, uh, inside information touchdown jaguars almost ended.
01:38:45.389 --> 01:38:59.765
If, because tramp bulky was going to stick around, we had real discussions about either ending the podcast or turning it into an all-encompassing NFL podcast, I could not do it again, and we already took the step of canceling our season tickets.
01:38:59.765 --> 01:39:02.328
I wasn't going to be able to sit.
01:39:02.328 --> 01:39:07.845
We released the least amount of episodes we ever have last year just because we could not do it.
01:39:07.845 --> 01:39:09.162
It was not fun to talk about them.
01:39:09.162 --> 01:39:09.985
There was no hope.
01:39:16.159 --> 01:39:16.581
Trevor was injured.
01:39:16.581 --> 01:39:16.943
What I gonna do?
01:39:16.943 --> 01:39:18.948
Talk about mac jones going seven for 13 and for 83 yards and two touchdowns.
01:39:18.948 --> 01:39:21.034
You know, listen, hometown boy was funny for like a quarter.
01:39:21.436 --> 01:39:28.163
Yeah, it was like a little bit it was like fun for like a quarter and then it was like I'm okay with him being our backup quarterback, but I don't ever want to see him play football again.
01:39:28.163 --> 01:39:29.787
It's sad, I want to add.
01:39:31.699 --> 01:39:42.831
I want to add like real quick, like dude, I mean, if there's any pressure that they need, cause I feel like I mean the NFL, I know, can have divas, it's just like I don't know, I don't know.
01:39:42.831 --> 01:39:47.386
I've never been into that damn locker room, I'm not an, I'm professional football player.
01:39:47.386 --> 01:39:54.962
But if you need any pressure, you have local businesses that are running out of business because of the Jaguars, your team fucking up.
01:39:54.962 --> 01:39:57.971
If that's, I mean sports mania.
01:39:58.579 --> 01:40:04.552
Sports mania is one locally in Jacksonville sports mania sports mania, because the Jaguars suck Most of the time.
01:40:04.552 --> 01:40:05.161
It's like that.
01:40:05.161 --> 01:40:06.261
Business goes downhill.
01:40:06.261 --> 01:40:08.364
And they were selling other stuff to Seminole stuff, uh, gainesville stuff.
01:40:08.364 --> 01:40:10.287
And they were selling other stuff too, seminole stuff, gainesville stuff.
01:40:10.346 --> 01:40:12.949
You know, the Florida Gators all that stuff you go to the one in Mandarin or out at the beach.
01:40:13.751 --> 01:40:14.832
Beach Beach.
01:40:14.832 --> 01:40:24.350
Yeah, that's because my dad used to work at a place called Chizu, so yeah, it was kind of across the street from there.
01:40:24.350 --> 01:40:28.037
But yeah, sports Mania, you have some other places that no one in Jacksonville probably really heard of Football.
01:40:27.987 --> 01:40:28.408
Fanatics is gone.
01:40:28.408 --> 01:40:29.402
No one in Jacksonville football fanatics is gone.
01:40:29.402 --> 01:40:32.128
It's the locker room by Lids now.
01:40:32.128 --> 01:40:35.966
So it's just corporate owned, Just a corporate entity.
01:40:35.966 --> 01:40:40.247
I mean fanatics is also a big corporate entity.
01:40:40.247 --> 01:40:44.127
We're not hating on you, we're just saying I'm hating on them a little bit.
01:40:44.127 --> 01:40:45.457
They're pretty bad.
01:40:45.819 --> 01:40:49.305
We like mom and pop football players, especially for our home team.
01:40:49.305 --> 01:40:54.444
But it's like what the fuck can you do when all you do is like not you, but it's like all you do with your team.
01:40:54.444 --> 01:40:55.408
All they do is lose.
01:40:55.659 --> 01:40:56.582
Duval Till we Die shop.
01:40:56.582 --> 01:40:59.570
They put in incredible work and release amazing stuff.
01:40:59.570 --> 01:41:02.547
And I mean, granted, eric, we went to the garage sales.
01:41:02.547 --> 01:41:03.430
Phil spent a lot of money.
01:41:03.529 --> 01:41:07.886
Yeah, Good deals, dude Deals a deal it was a great time.
01:41:08.347 --> 01:41:16.207
The one person I would say that is suffering the most, I feel, is Tony Buscelli and Mark Brunel, yeah, or just Jaguars in general.
01:41:16.207 --> 01:41:19.287
I mean MJD deep down when he's doing his NFL analysis work.
01:41:19.287 --> 01:41:22.703
It's like I have to talk and defend the Jaguars again.
01:41:23.324 --> 01:41:24.407
Always picks us.
01:41:24.407 --> 01:41:25.828
Always picks us.
01:41:26.411 --> 01:41:27.152
Always picks us.
01:41:27.152 --> 01:41:28.194
He doesn't give a shit.
01:41:28.194 --> 01:41:30.867
It's like that's my hometown or that's my home team.
01:41:30.867 --> 01:41:34.225
I'm not going to go against my home team, but I don't know, man.
01:41:34.225 --> 01:41:36.929
It's like we're living like some anime right now.
01:41:36.929 --> 01:41:41.587
I'm waiting for that climax and the Chiefs are like freaking all for one.
01:41:41.587 --> 01:41:44.989
It's like I'm like when is that?
01:41:44.989 --> 01:41:46.362
I need to see that arc, damn it.
01:41:46.902 --> 01:41:50.286
That's why Eagle's Blowout was so fun to watch this year.
01:41:51.087 --> 01:41:55.511
Oh yes, the Jaguars are blue lock, but we're one of the kids that got sent home.
01:41:55.511 --> 01:41:57.675
We didn't even get past the first initial.
01:41:57.675 --> 01:42:02.592
We didn't even get past it, they got hit with the ball.
01:42:04.002 --> 01:42:05.405
They got sent home.
01:42:05.405 --> 01:42:07.070
Dude, we're an NPC.
01:42:10.350 --> 01:42:10.671
What's up?
01:42:12.600 --> 01:42:27.645
Well, while it may not be fun to be a Jaguar fan, we are at least going to have fun now as we get ready for game time, so that's at least going to be a plus here, phil, I think as we transition, we had a lot of topics, a lot of stuff that we talked about.
01:42:27.645 --> 01:42:38.261
I think these two games will really be a cherry on top to a great episode that we've had so far, and if you want to pull them up, I'll have you which one we want to do first.
01:42:38.280 --> 01:42:39.222
Yeah I'll have you present.
01:42:39.222 --> 01:42:45.944
Uh, we'll do this or that first and then we'll do game, game, uh, so if you've been, a fan of the show.
01:42:45.944 --> 01:42:57.492
You've seen these, some new questions and prompts and you know, while you pull that up, phil, I meant to grab this at the wrestling conversation.
01:42:57.492 --> 01:43:00.085
I'm going to grab the belt really quick to show.
01:43:00.666 --> 01:43:03.952
Oh yeah, I'm excited, I'm excited.
01:43:03.952 --> 01:43:06.564
I forgot about this I still haven't seen it in person.
01:43:06.564 --> 01:43:08.690
I must see it.
01:43:08.690 --> 01:43:10.114
Yo wait Bro.
01:43:10.114 --> 01:43:11.399
You need to bring that to collective Dang dude, I must see it.
01:43:11.439 --> 01:43:11.680
Yo wait Bro.
01:43:13.108 --> 01:43:15.060
You need to bring that to collective Dang dude.
01:43:15.159 --> 01:43:19.748
So my brother, got this for me and it's got both of us.
01:43:19.748 --> 01:43:23.842
There's Phil, there's me, randomly last.
01:43:23.904 --> 01:43:26.090
Christmas, he like hey send me a picture of you.
01:43:26.090 --> 01:43:34.690
You can't ask why I was like what so yeah, you're putting me on like, like, some kind of dark web website.
01:43:35.701 --> 01:43:35.900
I mean.
01:43:35.921 --> 01:43:37.185
I'll do it for the money, but like.
01:43:37.185 --> 01:43:37.948
Could you at least tell me?
01:43:38.047 --> 01:43:39.131
like where am I going?
01:43:39.131 --> 01:43:40.323
What the fuck am I doing?
01:43:40.323 --> 01:43:41.006
Dude, what are you doing?
01:43:42.161 --> 01:43:44.690
I wish I would have known, because I would have picked my headshot.
01:43:44.690 --> 01:43:45.775
That looks like your headshot.
01:43:45.921 --> 01:43:47.386
I do want to replace that with it.
01:43:47.386 --> 01:43:54.189
I figured, once we get updated headshots, I'll just replace both of these with new headshots.
01:43:54.210 --> 01:43:54.752
Is it easy to do like?
01:43:54.773 --> 01:43:54.974
what is it?
01:43:54.993 --> 01:43:56.119
no clue because I haven't seen it in person.
01:43:56.119 --> 01:43:56.461
No clue.
01:43:56.461 --> 01:43:58.265
I mean, like the pictures, how are the pictures?
01:43:58.587 --> 01:44:03.287
the pictures are fine um, they just slide in, or the logo looks the best, which is what matters.
01:44:03.287 --> 01:44:13.112
But yeah, no, they have like um things you could screw to get the plates off oh, okay, okay, okay, I thought it was like okay I guess whatever company he got this through I this is a uh trophy smack.
01:44:13.112 --> 01:44:13.894
I think it's what it's called.
01:44:13.894 --> 01:44:19.216
I don't I might have made that up, but there's a company during fantasy football season you get a million of those.
01:44:19.578 --> 01:44:27.122
It's probably the company that does that, yeah, yeah, so not to take us off track, but yeah, I was like it's just, it's just hanging there on my wall.
01:44:27.162 --> 01:44:30.009
So I was like I'm to my NXT belt uh Josh.
01:44:30.048 --> 01:44:30.470
In the back.
01:44:30.470 --> 01:44:40.188
It's signed by uh Adam Cole uh the street profits and Bianca Belair Wow, yeah, we met her and the street profits back in December.
01:44:40.188 --> 01:44:45.603
We did a uh, it was a bucket list thing for us to do the meet and greet VIP thing and we did it when they did a.
01:44:45.643 --> 01:44:47.586
Yeah, it was a lot of fun.
01:44:47.586 --> 01:44:48.568
They were so sweet.
01:44:48.587 --> 01:44:59.121
They're great uh, as far as execution, wwe can work on that, but the experience itself was good, and that might have been more of a vi star arena thing.
01:44:59.242 --> 01:45:05.907
To be honest, damn, yeah, yeah, I would say that I would say that I mean, there was a pay-per-view that came here in 2008.
01:45:05.907 --> 01:45:07.251
It was extreme rules.
01:45:07.270 --> 01:45:09.497
We were there, you were there, yeah hell yeah, we were.
01:45:09.902 --> 01:45:11.086
Oh wait, that was there too.
01:45:11.105 --> 01:45:15.331
No, isn't that crazy like how we probably just missed each other in so many moments.
01:45:15.331 --> 01:45:16.664
That's so cool.
01:45:16.685 --> 01:45:17.127
We were there.
01:45:17.260 --> 01:45:20.039
We met Bobby Lashley at like a car dealership the day before.
01:45:20.159 --> 01:45:23.363
Oh yeah, that was so weird, that's so cool.
01:45:23.423 --> 01:45:28.349
And remember he was, people told him like the people there.
01:45:28.349 --> 01:45:34.034
No pictures, but I like grabbed onto his hand and then Eric snapped a picture of me really quick so I got to find it.
01:45:34.034 --> 01:45:37.641
I'll send it to you I was like Eric now.
01:45:37.862 --> 01:45:40.506
Now, now Do it Got it Woo.
01:45:40.527 --> 01:45:40.988
See you, brother.
01:45:40.988 --> 01:45:42.050
What were they going to do?
01:45:42.050 --> 01:45:42.952
We already took the picture.
01:45:42.952 --> 01:45:44.213
What were they going to do?
01:45:44.213 --> 01:45:45.940
Shoot me the.
01:45:46.782 --> 01:45:50.206
All right, that was a good pay-per-view Shout out to Do-Rag Vince.
01:45:52.228 --> 01:45:53.229
That's bad dude.
01:45:53.229 --> 01:45:54.110
We're not doing this.
01:45:54.110 --> 01:45:55.271
We're not doing this.
01:45:55.271 --> 01:46:00.838
All right this belt is getting a glare from my ring light and I don't want to hold it the whole time, so I'm now going to put it down.
01:46:00.859 --> 01:46:05.875
Oh yeah, you got to protect that it's also way heavier than you think it would be.
01:46:05.875 --> 01:46:14.890
But that being said, this or that, uh, the instructions on the next one uh, phil, if you want to move forward, a very clear uh.
01:46:14.890 --> 01:46:15.734
Don't cheat, don't look up the answer.
01:46:15.734 --> 01:46:16.436
Everyone gets to answer.
01:46:16.436 --> 01:46:17.921
On this one uh, it'll be a little phil, stop.
01:46:17.921 --> 01:46:19.284
It'll be a little different.
01:46:19.284 --> 01:46:21.710
On the next one uh, and most points win.
01:46:21.710 --> 01:46:25.127
So it'll be pretty easy, phil, I got rid of the.
01:46:25.127 --> 01:46:26.631
Are you ready slide?
01:46:26.631 --> 01:46:28.015
Uh, as you requested.
01:46:28.077 --> 01:46:33.230
So we're just gonna get right into the game and it'll be pretty easy to figure it out as we go.
01:46:33.230 --> 01:46:48.128
So for the first prompt for this or that, I want you guys to talk through and decide and pick individually which franchise has had the bigger retail sales.
01:46:48.128 --> 01:46:53.470
I will give you a hint Both of these are over $50 billion.
01:46:55.162 --> 01:46:58.979
And they are the two highest according to Wikipedia.
01:46:59.220 --> 01:47:03.190
So Pokemon or Mickey and friends?
01:47:03.190 --> 01:47:06.087
And yes, that is Mickey and friends.
01:47:06.087 --> 01:47:11.046
So all of those properties, goofy Donald, all of that jazz.
01:47:11.046 --> 01:47:15.729
So, josh, talking it out and then eventually making a decision.
01:47:15.729 --> 01:47:18.173
But talking it out, what are you thinking over here?
01:47:18.173 --> 01:47:19.645
Pokemon or Mickey and Friends?
01:47:19.645 --> 01:47:20.167
What are your?
01:47:20.188 --> 01:47:28.475
thoughts man, I mean two big legendary franchises and have split off into different mediums.
01:47:28.475 --> 01:47:30.364
I mean in their own way.
01:47:30.787 --> 01:47:33.875
We're also talking lunchboxes.
01:47:33.875 --> 01:47:43.322
Yeah, dude, you know silverware, silverware, clothes Blankets, yeah, blankets, like bro, bedsheets, bedsheets.
01:47:43.703 --> 01:47:50.926
I mean for me, like I'm gonna take a hot take, I'm gonna do a hot take and say Pokemon, pokemon.
01:47:50.926 --> 01:47:54.052
I Okay, I don't know why, but I feel it's Pokemon.
01:47:54.899 --> 01:47:55.662
Sometimes you got to go with your gut.
01:47:55.662 --> 01:47:56.664
This is worldwide too, probably right.
01:47:56.765 --> 01:47:56.985
Yes.
01:47:57.507 --> 01:47:58.109
Like worldwide.
01:47:58.109 --> 01:48:03.351
Yeah, that's why it could very well be Pokemon because of the Eastern market, yeah so I'll take Mickey.
01:48:03.351 --> 01:48:05.725
Yeah, I'll go Mickey.
01:48:05.725 --> 01:48:08.384
Okay, but I wouldn't be surprised either way.
01:48:08.524 --> 01:48:13.719
Okay, let's go ahead and reveal our answer, which is Pokemon, that's just crazy.
01:48:14.121 --> 01:48:15.829
Wow, it's not even close, it's not even close.
01:48:17.042 --> 01:48:23.845
Pokemon is estimated to be $91.6 billion and I want to clarify it also you can't get cards anywhere.
01:48:23.845 --> 01:48:32.913
Yeah, so it also breaks down overall and, unlike the other ones, most of Pokemon's comes from retail, which is kind of crazy.
01:48:33.716 --> 01:48:39.681
um, yeah, so yeah yeah, I mean, I went into game stop today and there was a two-pack limit on pokemon cards, so that's really.
01:48:39.681 --> 01:48:45.921
Yeah, I guess scalpers are are snatching them up, man it's a whole craze it is a it's back the.
01:48:45.921 --> 01:48:53.612
The state of tcg is is terrible right now as far as collecting, which is a bummer because I just got back into it solely to collect.
01:48:53.612 --> 01:48:57.122
I have no desire to sell cards, I just want to collect cool cards.
01:48:57.182 --> 01:48:59.765
Are you getting into like One Piece Arcana, all that?
01:49:01.181 --> 01:49:01.422
Yeah.
01:49:01.463 --> 01:49:01.786
Lorcana.
01:49:02.539 --> 01:49:03.805
Lorcana from the Disney.
01:49:03.805 --> 01:49:05.243
Yeah, I've collected a few of those.
01:49:05.243 --> 01:49:05.805
They're really cool.
01:49:05.805 --> 01:49:06.588
I just like collecting.
01:49:06.588 --> 01:49:08.042
I like collecting stuff.
01:49:08.042 --> 01:49:09.085
That's why I have the Funkos.
01:49:09.085 --> 01:49:13.523
I've got the cards and stuff like that, so it's just good to go back.
01:49:13.523 --> 01:49:15.403
I got a lot of physical media as well.
01:49:15.403 --> 01:49:18.386
Nice Pokemon I got back into at the wrong time.
01:49:18.386 --> 01:49:20.051
I should have done it a few years ago.
01:49:20.699 --> 01:49:22.488
That's crazy man, it's tough Alright.
01:49:22.488 --> 01:49:24.346
Well, josh is up 1-0.
01:49:24.346 --> 01:49:25.542
And now our next one.
01:49:25.542 --> 01:49:29.189
Which of these have the most total episodes?
01:49:29.189 --> 01:49:35.511
Is it one piece or all of the law and orders?
01:49:36.252 --> 01:49:36.934
Oh shit.
01:49:37.279 --> 01:49:41.011
So is it possible that one piece is more?
01:49:41.011 --> 01:49:44.270
Or, if I combine all the law and orders, is that one more?
01:49:44.270 --> 01:49:48.345
Phil, we'll kick you off with this one, just kind of thinking it out loud.
01:49:48.345 --> 01:49:49.805
You know one piece is long.
01:49:49.805 --> 01:49:53.699
You also know there are a lot of versions of Law Order in there.
01:49:53.780 --> 01:50:00.872
Law Order has like 25 episodes a season too, so it's not like a normal television show.
01:50:00.872 --> 01:50:03.164
Remember when television shows would have a lot of episodes?
01:50:03.164 --> 01:50:04.109
Yeah, yeah.
01:50:06.043 --> 01:50:10.853
I will tell you these two are pretty close in number, which is why I went with these two.
01:50:10.853 --> 01:50:12.390
So, phil, I will tell you, these two are pretty close in number, which is why I went with these two.
01:50:12.340 --> 01:50:14.932
So, phil, I will take the underdog and go.
01:50:14.932 --> 01:50:16.234
Law Order Okay.
01:50:16.373 --> 01:50:17.336
Josh, what are you thinking?
01:50:17.336 --> 01:50:18.015
Which one do you want to go?
01:50:18.055 --> 01:50:26.148
with as much as I want to say Law Order, I'm going to just pick one piece.
01:50:26.148 --> 01:50:28.284
Well, God damn it.
01:50:28.284 --> 01:50:31.686
I'm starting to second guess myself.
01:50:31.686 --> 01:50:32.207
Damn it.
01:50:34.065 --> 01:50:34.547
Think about it.
01:50:34.880 --> 01:50:38.751
They're on season like 25 or something of the, just the regular SVU.
01:50:38.751 --> 01:50:41.689
I think it's not even taking into account regular law and order.
01:50:42.261 --> 01:50:46.623
I mean, good grief man, good grief Charlie Brown.
01:50:46.623 --> 01:50:49.145
Jeez, we're not going to be here all day.
01:50:49.145 --> 01:50:54.867
I'm just going to pick one piece and I want, if there's a shock value, to see how many episodes there are at law and order.
01:50:54.867 --> 01:50:57.393
I I can't wait to see all right.
01:50:57.539 --> 01:51:08.128
Well, the answer is law and order with oh wow, I was for sure I was losing law.
01:51:08.128 --> 01:51:15.935
Law and Order has 1,383 episodes across 67 seasons of television.
01:51:16.076 --> 01:51:16.735
Oh shit, my bad.
01:51:16.735 --> 01:51:20.969
Thanks, I guess when I click away, I don't know, I don't know.
01:51:21.641 --> 01:51:22.846
But yeah, that is our answer.
01:51:22.846 --> 01:51:27.752
One piece, 1,122 episodes as of this recording.
01:51:27.912 --> 01:51:28.514
Why is it blank?
01:51:28.514 --> 01:51:29.436
Is it blank on y'all's end?
01:51:29.697 --> 01:51:30.519
Yeah, a little bit.
01:51:30.519 --> 01:51:31.360
Yeah, you broke it.
01:51:31.360 --> 01:51:39.072
There are four OVAs, 14 TV specials, 15 movies estimated, but again not counting those, just episodes.
01:51:39.072 --> 01:51:41.375
One Piece falls a little short.
01:51:41.375 --> 01:51:46.076
Crazy to think that One Piece will catch up to that number, though.
01:51:46.095 --> 01:51:48.783
Probably, probably, there we go, probably All right we're back on board.
01:51:49.405 --> 01:52:04.659
Our next category, letterboxd, is where anyone can create a profile and rank a movie from 1 to 5 stars.
01:52:04.659 --> 01:52:08.542
What movie here has the lowest Letterboxd rating average among users?
01:52:08.542 --> 01:52:11.828
Is it Batman v Superman or Suicide Squad squad?
01:52:11.828 --> 01:52:15.753
And yes, it is the original suicide squad.
01:52:15.753 --> 01:52:19.404
God damn, jared leto, joker suicide squad.
01:52:19.404 --> 01:52:22.711
So, josh, I'm gonna let you talk this one out.
01:52:22.711 --> 01:52:24.740
Uh, where are you kind of leaning?
01:52:24.740 --> 01:52:32.247
I'm assuming you may have seen or at least heard of these two films oh, yes, oh, I saw bits and pieces of suicide squad.
01:52:32.220 --> 01:52:32.854
Why does it keep happening?
01:52:32.828 --> 01:52:33.221
I don't, I don't know.
01:52:33.221 --> 01:52:33.810
I didn't, I thought at least heard of these two films.
01:52:33.810 --> 01:52:34.298
Oh, yes, oh, I saw Bits and Pieces of Suicide Squad.
01:52:34.298 --> 01:52:34.645
Why does it keep happening?
01:52:34.645 --> 01:52:34.766
I don't know.
01:52:34.766 --> 01:52:36.686
I thought you did that on purpose.
01:52:39.520 --> 01:52:41.588
I've watched Batman versus Superman.
01:52:41.588 --> 01:52:45.082
I watched that actually in theaters Same and it was.
01:52:45.082 --> 01:52:47.985
I wanted to like it.
01:52:47.985 --> 01:52:59.689
I thought Ben Affleck's Batman was the closest we'll get to a comic book Bruce Wayne and Batman in a way but just the direction that it went.
01:52:59.689 --> 01:53:05.891
Yeah, I can go on a tangent on that, but I'm just going to go Suicide Squad.
01:53:05.891 --> 01:53:07.485
Okay, you're going Suicide Squad.
01:53:08.381 --> 01:53:11.971
Phil are you going to go along with that as well, or are you going to go the opposite route?
01:53:12.500 --> 01:53:17.011
I think I will also go Suicide Squad, because Batman v Superman has its defense.
01:53:17.011 --> 01:53:20.270
Those Snyder fans, dude, they are ravenous.
01:53:20.270 --> 01:53:23.927
So I will also go Suicide Squad and see if we can at least keep it tied.
01:53:23.927 --> 01:53:24.829
Keep it tied.
01:53:25.091 --> 01:53:27.326
Okay, all right, let's go ahead and reveal our answer.
01:53:32.520 --> 01:53:34.159
And, unsurprisingly, it is Suicide Squad with a 2.1 average rating.
01:53:34.899 --> 01:53:41.023
Yeah, 2.4 for Batman v Superman Sucks because there was a bunch of good actors in that movie.
01:53:41.182 --> 01:53:46.689
I know it is a bummer A bunch of good actors and bad writing, very bad writing.
01:53:46.689 --> 01:53:49.323
They wanted to be guardians so bad.
01:53:49.363 --> 01:53:50.587
And also look at this killer croc.
01:53:52.845 --> 01:53:53.632
That's so awesome.
01:53:53.653 --> 01:53:57.770
That's clearly just a dude, that's just a guy with a hoodie.
01:53:58.011 --> 01:54:03.945
I say I thought it looked awesome, but Captain Blushang looks like a crackhead over here in this picture.
01:54:03.985 --> 01:54:07.529
What's going on To play devil's advocate there?
01:54:07.529 --> 01:54:14.823
Josh King Shark looked awesome in the newer Suicide Squad, so like why did we get this Killer Croc?
01:54:15.404 --> 01:54:16.284
You do have a point.
01:54:16.284 --> 01:54:17.186
You do have a point.
01:54:17.186 --> 01:54:19.831
Yeah, crap, maybe.
01:54:19.831 --> 01:54:31.301
See, I can be too nice sometimes and I'm just like, but they're trying, you can see that they're trying a little bit Shout out to Katana, who is carved out.
01:54:31.320 --> 01:54:33.943
I can't remember the name of the actress, but she has carved out an awesome career.
01:54:33.943 --> 01:54:35.644
She's in the boys now, right, Isn't she in the boys?
01:54:35.844 --> 01:54:36.744
I think so.
01:54:36.744 --> 01:54:39.326
That actress, yes, good for her, all right.
01:54:39.386 --> 01:54:40.186
And Margot Robbie.
01:54:40.186 --> 01:54:41.728
Come on, and Margot Robbie, yep.
01:54:42.788 --> 01:54:44.989
Although I'm going to of Jared Leto Crazy.
01:54:44.989 --> 01:54:58.701
Anyway, we've moved on to talk about the higher ranking, so I'm going to clarify this.
01:54:58.701 --> 01:55:05.594
This is on the Hollywood reporters critics picks for the 50 best films of the 21st century.
01:55:05.594 --> 01:55:09.510
Oh, so I want to know which of these animated films.
01:55:10.420 --> 01:55:13.350
These are the only two animated films on that list.
01:55:13.350 --> 01:55:17.970
I want to know which one of these two animated films were ranked higher.
01:55:17.970 --> 01:55:21.850
Was it Spirited Away or WALL-E?
01:55:21.850 --> 01:55:28.913
Both of these films were in the rankings and the only two animated films to make the list.
01:55:28.913 --> 01:55:35.907
So, phil, of course Spirited Away had to, you know, get brought up here, but WALL-E pleasant surprise.
01:55:35.907 --> 01:55:37.605
What are you thinking here?
01:55:38.159 --> 01:55:40.408
I'm actually not surprised that WALL-E is on here.
01:55:40.408 --> 01:55:41.685
People love WALL-E.
01:55:41.685 --> 01:55:43.126
I think WALL-E is fine.
01:55:43.126 --> 01:55:54.315
I just I think it's a little boring and when you have other Disney films to choose from WALL-E, it would be a long time before I brought up WALL-E, but I think I can confidently say I think it's WALL-E.
01:55:55.936 --> 01:56:05.297
Okay, and Josh, I think, just to know that these are the only two I have thoughts but we're not going to get into that.
01:56:05.297 --> 01:56:07.086
Shout out to Treasure Planet.
01:56:07.086 --> 01:56:09.323
It doesn't get enough roses.
01:56:09.344 --> 01:56:11.087
Yeah, or Atlantis, that's right.
01:56:11.087 --> 01:56:12.189
Both of them, both is good.
01:56:12.189 --> 01:56:14.921
Both is good.
01:56:15.143 --> 01:56:16.689
Both, both, both is good.
01:56:16.689 --> 01:56:19.266
I'm going to have to pick WALL-E too.
01:56:19.266 --> 01:56:24.930
This is for the whole world, or just United States?
01:56:26.100 --> 01:56:28.408
There were international films on this list as well.
01:56:28.408 --> 01:56:33.570
The Hollywood Reporter, the critics that were on a panel that picked this.
01:56:33.570 --> 01:56:37.163
They were selected to pick the 50 best films of the 21st century.
01:56:37.163 --> 01:56:43.484
So this included pretty much any film under the sun animated, international, etc.
01:56:43.484 --> 01:56:45.524
Wow.
01:56:45.644 --> 01:56:47.042
Okay, yeah, I'll do WALL-E, Okay.
01:56:48.167 --> 01:56:52.328
Both of you selected WALL-E and our answer is actually Spirited Away.
01:56:52.900 --> 01:56:56.287
Wow, spirited Away made it sixth on the list.
01:56:56.460 --> 01:56:57.182
They love that movie.
01:56:57.182 --> 01:56:58.703
Wall-e 14th.
01:56:59.024 --> 01:56:59.747
What was number one?
01:56:59.747 --> 01:57:00.822
Hold on, can we guess?
01:57:01.423 --> 01:57:02.347
You're not going to know the movie.
01:57:02.347 --> 01:57:04.305
You won't know the movie.
01:57:04.305 --> 01:57:05.864
I think it's Shawshank Redemption.
01:57:05.864 --> 01:57:12.822
No, it's a movie I never heard of who's in it.
01:57:12.822 --> 01:57:14.127
It's called Wait, I think this is the one.
01:57:14.127 --> 01:57:15.189
I should have wrote it down.
01:57:15.189 --> 01:57:17.569
I had a feeling you might ask me and I still didn't write it down.
01:57:17.569 --> 01:57:20.328
It's called Yuri, Yuri, I believe.
01:57:20.328 --> 01:57:22.100
No, no, that can't be it.
01:57:22.100 --> 01:57:22.961
That's not right, Yuri.
01:57:23.282 --> 01:57:24.662
Yuri, no, that's not it.
01:57:25.063 --> 01:57:26.024
No, that's not.
01:57:26.024 --> 01:57:32.627
It Hold on Top 50 films of the 21st century.
01:57:32.627 --> 01:57:33.109
There we go.
01:57:33.109 --> 01:57:35.791
If you get it, let me know.
01:57:35.791 --> 01:57:39.533
But that movie is, oh, there we go.
01:57:39.533 --> 01:57:41.595
It has a nice little feature where you can skip ahead.
01:57:41.595 --> 01:57:44.277
Oh, yee, yee, I don't know where I got Yuri Yuri from.
01:57:44.277 --> 01:57:53.811
Yee, yee is a 2000 film that came out and I've never heard of this.
01:57:53.872 --> 01:57:58.085
never heard of this maybe if you got rid of that yee-yee-ass haircut, you'd get some bitches on your dick.
01:57:58.085 --> 01:58:05.253
I can't finish that.
01:58:05.253 --> 01:58:06.404
I can't finish that line.
01:58:06.404 --> 01:58:10.368
It's from GTA 5 oh, that's funny oh my god.
01:58:11.162 --> 01:58:13.065
I never really played GTA, so that's really funny.
01:58:13.126 --> 01:58:14.228
Great, all right, phil.
01:58:14.228 --> 01:58:19.309
All I know is I'll take to number nine.
01:58:20.420 --> 01:58:23.270
I wish I hadn't explained it and just left that there for no context.
01:58:25.900 --> 01:58:29.480
No, I think it's better for all of us that you did All.
01:58:29.480 --> 01:58:30.666
Right, let's get to our last.
01:58:30.666 --> 01:58:31.668
This or that.
01:58:31.668 --> 01:58:38.248
Now, this is based off of Family Feud, and obviously you know how Family Feud works.
01:58:38.248 --> 01:58:41.831
They're asked a question and there's typically a number one answer.
01:58:41.831 --> 01:58:49.073
So I would like to know, for the scenario, name a sitcom that always seems to be rerunning on TV.
01:58:49.073 --> 01:58:58.449
When asked 100 people, which one is the number one answer the Big Bang Theory or Friends?
01:58:58.449 --> 01:59:08.168
Phil, I know you hate one of these shows, but both of these are arguably two of the biggest sitcoms out there.
01:59:08.168 --> 01:59:08.930
So what are you thinking?
01:59:09.440 --> 01:59:14.726
The scramble to turn off TBS after a basketball game ends before the Big Bang Theory starts.
01:59:16.681 --> 01:59:19.050
All the university, all the hot bets.
01:59:20.400 --> 01:59:21.466
Literally every single time.
01:59:21.466 --> 01:59:25.349
No, no, no, no, no, I'm going to try to like grab the microphone.
01:59:25.349 --> 01:59:32.313
I think it's friends, but I'm not confident, okay, okay.
01:59:34.182 --> 01:59:35.387
Josh, what are you thinking over there?
01:59:35.387 --> 01:59:36.130
How are you feeling?
01:59:36.539 --> 01:59:37.162
Are you fans of?
01:59:37.203 --> 01:59:38.707
both of these or watched any of them.
01:59:41.320 --> 01:59:44.990
Joey was my favorite on Friends, but I never really watched Friends.
01:59:44.990 --> 01:59:49.060
I watched how I Met your Mother oh yes, that.
01:59:49.060 --> 01:59:51.609
But also my number one was king of queens.
01:59:51.609 --> 01:59:57.244
Oh yeah, solid, great kevin james kevin james.
01:59:57.324 --> 02:00:02.555
Kevin james, before he went to this weird, he like took a strange.
02:00:02.555 --> 02:00:10.828
He tried to follow adam sandler's footsteps but like his movies weren't as good his solo movies unfortunately, you know so, but he's super talented I I love.
02:00:10.849 --> 02:00:11.551
Kevin James.
02:00:11.551 --> 02:00:16.962
I love Kevin James, but I'm going to have to man, I'm going to have to go with, I think, big Bang Theory.
02:00:16.962 --> 02:00:20.260
I Again good actors, the writing.
02:00:20.260 --> 02:00:22.427
Sometimes I'm just like I kind of question.
02:00:22.427 --> 02:00:25.264
I'm like why'd the laugh track go over that?
02:00:25.264 --> 02:00:26.167
That was not funny yeah.
02:00:28.320 --> 02:00:28.863
Great actors.
02:00:28.863 --> 02:00:33.375
That's the Big Bang Theory, so we'll lock you in for Big Bang Theory, phil, to determine a winner.
02:00:33.375 --> 02:00:34.076
Is Penny really that much?
02:00:34.115 --> 02:00:34.917
taller than Leonard.
02:00:34.917 --> 02:00:36.425
I've never noticed that before.
02:00:36.425 --> 02:00:37.429
Damn.
02:00:38.881 --> 02:00:39.944
Shout out to the Short Kings.
02:00:39.944 --> 02:00:44.627
Right here, baby Phil, we locking you in for Friends to get a winner.
02:00:44.627 --> 02:00:50.275
Okay, yeah, the answer is the Big Bang Theory Boom 26 versus Friends 22.
02:00:50.275 --> 02:00:53.929
Is the Big Bang Theory Boom 26 versus Friends 22.
02:00:53.929 --> 02:01:02.720
Others that made the list out of a survey of 100 people Seinfeld, frasier, two and a Half Men, the Simpsons, the Fresh Prince of Bel-Air Hmm.
02:01:02.962 --> 02:01:07.885
Okay, I like Frasier and I like the other one you said.
02:01:09.350 --> 02:01:13.569
Fresh Prince, two and a Half Men, seinfeld, seinfeld.
02:01:17.671 --> 02:01:19.497
Seriously, I do not remember this disparity.
02:01:19.497 --> 02:01:20.260
It's really bothering me.
02:01:20.260 --> 02:01:23.409
That's very wild, that's very wild.
02:01:23.680 --> 02:01:24.645
You're like I had a chance.
02:01:27.622 --> 02:01:28.747
Who's supposed to be me?
02:01:28.747 --> 02:01:31.378
Who's supposed to be me and Golden Globe winner Kaylee Cuoco Shout out to her.
02:01:31.302 --> 02:01:40.822
who's supposed to be me and golden globe winner shout out to her alright, our last game is called game game and we are gonna play this.
02:01:40.822 --> 02:01:49.269
This is all video game based and there are gonna be three different types of games about games.
02:01:49.269 --> 02:01:54.030
So, as Phil pulls that up for our visual audience, again, audio only.
02:01:54.030 --> 02:01:57.310
You guys will be fine here for the most part, up until the end.
02:01:59.747 --> 02:02:00.829
So there are three games yeah.
02:02:00.829 --> 02:02:08.970
Before I pull this up here, josh, keeping it brief, how did you feel about the how I Met your Mother finale and how that ended?
02:02:16.600 --> 02:02:17.702
talking about your mother finale and how that ended.
02:02:17.702 --> 02:02:18.404
Um, I sometimes no words are all.
02:02:18.404 --> 02:02:23.394
If they were gonna go now, tell me if I'm wrong, because it's been a long time since I watched it.
02:02:23.394 --> 02:02:34.213
But if they were going the robin route, just go the robin route right like stop it yeah don't give robin and barney these crazy redemption arcs and tear them down.
02:02:34.314 --> 02:02:35.479
And yeah, it really yeah.
02:02:36.041 --> 02:02:37.024
And I love Barney.
02:02:37.024 --> 02:02:46.926
Barney was funny, but yeah, I mean I feel like again you can disagree with me, but like I felt the show kind of went on for too long?
02:02:46.945 --> 02:02:47.467
It definitely did.
02:02:48.341 --> 02:02:58.252
I felt like again, if they were going the robin route, which I, I, I liked, I liked ted and robin together the whole time, I, I was like I don't know why that didn't work.
02:02:58.252 --> 02:03:04.682
I maybe, well, actually, yeah, I liked how they that at the beginning that happened and then found their way back to each other.
02:03:04.783 --> 02:03:20.927
And found your way back, yeah, and then you find out you know you're still in love with, with aunt robin like, like, if you're going that route, well, they shoehorned themselves in because they filmed that ending with those kids so long ago and then, of course, they grew up because they're children.
02:03:20.927 --> 02:03:27.530
Yeah, yeah, I mean, it definitely went on too long, and that's why Jason Segel is barely in the last season, because he did not want to do that character anymore.
02:03:27.530 --> 02:03:28.171
He was over it.
02:03:32.699 --> 02:03:33.284
That's why he's barely in it.
02:03:33.284 --> 02:03:36.546
I just think it should have ended sooner and Robin should have been the one and not get Barney involved.
02:03:36.546 --> 02:03:39.088
Sorry, but that was kind of useless.
02:03:39.088 --> 02:03:40.905
Sorry, eric, I had to take over there.
02:03:40.905 --> 02:03:42.189
No, that's okay, that's okay.
02:03:42.480 --> 02:03:43.786
You need someone to share your pain.
02:03:44.106 --> 02:03:44.467
I really do.
02:03:45.823 --> 02:03:48.627
I understand it, game game is easy to play.
02:03:48.627 --> 02:03:49.886
Game game it uh, game game is easy to play in game.
02:03:49.886 --> 02:04:00.203
The three types of games that we'll see on the next slide here, uh, is answer the question so just, it's going to be a question and answer multiple choice and then complete the word.
02:04:00.203 --> 02:04:14.386
I think we'll adapt on this one and what we'll do is we'll give josh first dibs at answer the question, uh, and if you don't get the answer right, phil will get a chance to take over and then get the lead to the next question and we'll kind of go back and forth.
02:04:14.386 --> 02:04:22.206
When we get to complete the word, it'll probably be first one to shout it out, but it may need a hint, which I have available if we need.
02:04:22.206 --> 02:04:24.725
So, okie, dokie, I can't ask you, are you ready?
02:04:24.760 --> 02:04:33.561
because Phil made me take out that slide Do you have permission to use in canva, so nintendo can take it up with also.
02:04:33.841 --> 02:04:36.849
We're not monetized on youtube.
02:04:36.849 --> 02:04:37.310
Just kidding.
02:04:37.310 --> 02:04:41.686
We have nothing to lose, not yet nothing to lose, all right, uh, josh.
02:04:41.948 --> 02:04:46.539
First question what nintendo game is the highest open critic?
02:04:46.539 --> 02:04:50.747
Uh, with 97, with a 97 critic average.
02:04:50.747 --> 02:05:02.242
So open critic is just an average of all reviews and is, uh, one of the primary things that people will go to to see how good a game is according to users and critics.
02:05:02.242 --> 02:05:11.576
So what do you think is probably a 97, which is, I should clarify, the highest Open Critic score?
02:05:11.899 --> 02:05:13.988
So it is top, top, top of the list.
02:05:15.440 --> 02:05:18.306
Well, I'm going to have to say Open Critic.
02:05:18.306 --> 02:05:26.427
A game that everybody could play, a game that everybody will like Families, adults, kids.
02:05:26.427 --> 02:05:31.206
This is kind of a pocket pick Mario Party 1.
02:05:31.206 --> 02:05:32.230
Okay, it's a good guess.
02:05:32.230 --> 02:05:35.945
Pick Mario Party One Okay, it's a good guess Not what we're looking for.
02:05:37.081 --> 02:05:41.832
Phil, you have a chance to take over and steal here, is it?
02:05:41.851 --> 02:05:42.533
Mario 64?
02:05:42.533 --> 02:05:42.533
.
02:05:44.023 --> 02:05:44.545
It is not.
02:05:45.322 --> 02:05:46.688
Oh, I was so confident.
02:05:48.140 --> 02:05:52.353
Josh, if you want to take another crack at it, I will give you a hint here.
02:05:52.353 --> 02:06:12.173
The uh game is a mario game yeah, okay, mario kart it is not mario kart fuck phil, I'll give you one last crack at it, otherwise we'll reveal oh my god, what was the name of that game, mario?
02:06:12.900 --> 02:06:14.586
No, no, it's not that one.
02:06:14.586 --> 02:06:16.331
Oh my god, oh my god.
02:06:19.301 --> 02:06:20.086
I'm freaking out.
02:06:20.880 --> 02:06:22.587
It's not Mario 64?
02:06:22.587 --> 02:06:24.585
Is it like Super?
02:06:24.585 --> 02:06:28.024
Oh, jesus Christ, you're gonna have to guess.
02:06:28.024 --> 02:06:31.565
I'm trying to think of the one with his fucking hat.
02:06:31.565 --> 02:06:34.386
He throws the hat around.
02:06:34.386 --> 02:06:40.533
Oh my God, mario, you're going to be so mad, I really am.
02:06:40.533 --> 02:06:43.768
I'm just going to go with the one I know like Super Mario Brothers 2 or something.
02:06:44.409 --> 02:06:48.975
No, okay, the answer is Super Mario Odyssey.
02:06:49.958 --> 02:06:50.159
Damn.
02:06:50.159 --> 02:06:51.787
That is the one with his hat right on the screen.
02:06:51.960 --> 02:06:53.326
Yeah, so I was thinking of the right game.
02:06:53.445 --> 02:06:55.886
I just he's got a.
02:06:55.907 --> 02:06:56.488
T-Rex in it.
02:06:56.488 --> 02:07:04.146
Although neither of you guys got a point, josh, you do still get to go first now, so it is back in your court.
02:07:04.146 --> 02:07:12.387
Our next question Sweet, in gaming, when someone is not actively playing, what is the most common term used?
02:07:12.387 --> 02:07:15.708
I need the abbreviation and what it means.
02:07:19.490 --> 02:07:20.395
Oh AFK away from people.
02:07:20.414 --> 02:07:22.078
Boo, that is correct.
02:07:22.099 --> 02:07:23.904
Boo, this should have been the first question.
02:07:24.226 --> 02:07:29.728
I know I play League of Legends all the time and people are AFK and we lose our ARAMs.
02:07:29.828 --> 02:07:32.581
Josh really quick, yeah.
02:07:32.581 --> 02:07:33.744
Do you suggest anybody play League of Legends?
02:07:33.805 --> 02:07:37.277
Fuck no, dude, take a shot.
02:07:38.282 --> 02:07:39.310
That's our new take a shot.
02:07:39.632 --> 02:07:41.046
It's the same answer every time.
02:07:41.046 --> 02:07:45.304
Josh, have you had to take a break for your own mental well-being?
02:07:45.363 --> 02:07:46.983
I took a break for like five years.
02:07:46.983 --> 02:07:49.664
Dude, it's always that long too, it's always so long.
02:07:52.739 --> 02:07:57.868
It's always like I stopped playing WoW or I stopped playing League for a couple years, I changed as a person and now, unfortunately, I'm back in it.
02:07:58.961 --> 02:08:00.186
That's every single time.
02:08:00.186 --> 02:08:04.587
I wish it were easy to do to just put a compilation of clips.
02:08:04.587 --> 02:08:08.881
We gotta start tracking it, Phil.
02:08:08.902 --> 02:08:09.947
you have revealed the answer.
02:08:10.399 --> 02:08:12.966
That is correct AFK, away from keyboard.
02:08:12.966 --> 02:08:16.753
Our next question Josh, you are going to get first crack at it.
02:08:16.753 --> 02:08:25.167
Sure, this creepypasta has been adapted into numerous video games over the years, even making its way into communities like Minecraft and Roblox.
02:08:25.167 --> 02:08:27.712
Slenderman Fuck.
02:08:27.712 --> 02:08:30.243
It is not.
02:08:30.243 --> 02:08:30.465
Slenderman.
02:08:30.465 --> 02:08:30.565
Fuck.
02:08:30.565 --> 02:08:32.037
It is not Slenderman.
02:08:32.037 --> 02:08:32.137
Fuck.
02:08:32.137 --> 02:08:34.405
It's a great guess.
02:08:34.405 --> 02:08:38.087
That is the guess to make, unfortunately, not the correct answer.
02:08:38.087 --> 02:08:46.432
Phil, you do have a chance to steal and I will say the hint was that Slenderman was the probably best guess.
02:08:46.432 --> 02:08:52.899
I would say this is probably the second best guess because they've made a ton of these Like.
02:08:52.899 --> 02:08:58.090
This is one that is is there's a lot of them like Slenderman is like, specifically like the game you think of.
02:08:59.350 --> 02:09:00.378
No, that's not a creepypasta.
02:09:00.378 --> 02:09:01.538
Wendigo's not a creepypasta.
02:09:04.328 --> 02:09:11.948
Yeah, that's more folklore man, I think I know the answer, but fuck oh my god, I really thought it was Slender man.
02:09:14.600 --> 02:09:15.704
Which creepypasta.
02:09:15.805 --> 02:09:19.783
I'm so mad I think you will be mad.
02:09:23.712 --> 02:09:25.164
Oh my god, I don't know if I have a guess.
02:09:27.565 --> 02:09:28.247
Do you want to take one?
02:09:28.247 --> 02:09:30.167
Do you want to go Wendigo?
02:09:30.600 --> 02:09:38.145
No, because it's not Wendigo, it's whatever the creepers are based off of, and I don't know it.
02:09:38.166 --> 02:09:40.850
Okay, I think I got a guess.
02:09:40.850 --> 02:09:43.894
Wendigo, it's not Wendigo.
02:09:43.894 --> 02:09:45.655
Okay, bad guess.
02:09:46.820 --> 02:09:48.006
Josh, do you have a guess?
02:09:48.006 --> 02:09:51.322
I don't know if this counts, but I'll say it anyways the back rooms.
02:09:52.583 --> 02:09:55.168
It is Good guess oh, that's a good guess the back rooms.
02:09:55.269 --> 02:09:57.512
Oh, okay, Okay great guess.
02:09:57.533 --> 02:09:58.454
Yes, yes, it is.
02:09:58.800 --> 02:10:00.926
I was thinking like some sort of monster.
02:10:00.926 --> 02:10:15.149
Yeah, side note, I'm going to a new therapist and on the second floor to the right there, is just a totally empty office space and I'm like oh my god, I'm gonna die in here.
02:10:16.280 --> 02:10:17.104
It's the back rooms.
02:10:17.104 --> 02:10:20.087
Oh shit, no one's gonna see me ever again hey look.
02:10:20.087 --> 02:10:21.604
A.
02:10:21.604 --> 02:10:22.801
I hope the therapy's going good.
02:10:22.801 --> 02:10:25.068
I gotta go back to my house.
02:10:25.408 --> 02:10:26.211
Highly recommended.
02:10:26.211 --> 02:10:30.427
Every time I go, I'm gonna drop a pin just so you guys know where I parked the car.
02:10:31.819 --> 02:10:34.586
Oh my god, but every time I go I'm going to drop a pin just so you guys know where I parked the car.
02:10:34.586 --> 02:10:38.533
Oh, my God Not going to get me, hey man, those empty spaces like yeah, they're scary.
02:10:47.039 --> 02:10:50.269
Also, eric knows, as somebody who uses the back hallways at the mall all the time, I am totally a candidate to get lost in the back room and I'm making Phil.
02:10:50.269 --> 02:10:53.706
We're're playing a game, are we during a game for this month called the Stanley Parable?
02:10:53.706 --> 02:11:02.555
Oh yeah, that's specifically all he's been doing is going in like empty, empty shameless plug-in.
02:11:02.895 --> 02:11:04.221
I will do a shameless plug-in.
02:11:04.221 --> 02:11:08.521
Right now I am in a video game called the back rooms, lost tapes, and I'm in the first.
02:11:08.521 --> 02:11:11.021
Hell, yeah, um, I love the back rooms.
02:11:11.021 --> 02:11:17.302
Well, that's kind of a weird saying, but like, yeah, I want to find me in the back room.
02:11:17.623 --> 02:11:19.849
I'm gonna no clip my ass out of reality.
02:11:19.849 --> 02:11:21.340
Find me in the back rooms, baby.
02:11:21.340 --> 02:11:23.225
No, yeah, that's.
02:11:23.225 --> 02:11:26.507
It's that creepypasta Kane Pixels has done.
02:11:26.507 --> 02:11:27.966
It's crazy.
02:11:27.966 --> 02:11:31.296
A24 wants to work with him on a film for the back rooms love it, that's crazy.
02:11:31.296 --> 02:11:32.869
A24 wants to work with him on a film for the back rooms Love it, that's crazy.
02:11:34.453 --> 02:11:38.828
Yeah, I just recently listened to a podcast about the back rooms so it's very fresh in my mind so I should have gotten this.
02:11:38.828 --> 02:11:40.699
Yeah, I thought you would have.
02:11:40.699 --> 02:11:42.868
I didn't know there was back rooms in Minecraft.
02:11:42.868 --> 02:11:44.145
I didn't know that was a thing in Minecraft.
02:11:44.225 --> 02:11:46.807
Oh dude, my son plays the hell out of that thing.
02:11:46.807 --> 02:11:48.764
Yeah it is creepy.
02:11:48.764 --> 02:11:50.747
It is creepy, all right.
02:11:50.747 --> 02:11:54.533
Our next set of questions are going to be multiple choice.
02:11:54.533 --> 02:12:00.484
They'll work the same way, except there's a little bit more of an advantage if the person gets it wrong for the person behind.
02:12:00.484 --> 02:12:03.746
So, josh, the question is yeah.
02:12:03.746 --> 02:12:07.858
Which of these games have the highest rating on steam?
02:12:08.259 --> 02:12:08.340
Yeah.
02:12:08.680 --> 02:12:14.587
Is it left for 2, Hades, Stardew Valley or Portal?
02:12:14.587 --> 02:12:23.524
I'm going to let you get first crack at it, and if you don't get it right, Phil, you'll have three options, Josh will have two and then, if he gets it wrong, well, it's one left.
02:12:23.524 --> 02:12:26.905
So you're kind of at an advantage, being the second person, if neither of you know it.
02:12:26.905 --> 02:12:28.613
But do you know it, Josh?
02:12:28.613 --> 02:12:28.833
You know it.
02:12:28.833 --> 02:12:29.315
But do you know it, Josh?
02:12:29.315 --> 02:12:30.319
Or do you have a good guess you want to make?
02:12:30.319 --> 02:12:32.445
I'm going to make a guess Stardew Valley.
02:12:32.445 --> 02:12:34.350
It is.
02:12:35.399 --> 02:12:35.807
Stardew Valley.
02:12:35.807 --> 02:12:36.902
That was also going to be my guess.
02:12:36.902 --> 02:12:38.047
A lot of people played that.
02:12:39.067 --> 02:12:45.063
I was hoping I would trick somebody, because Portal 2 is the only game that would have been on this list.
02:12:45.063 --> 02:12:45.907
That would have been higher.
02:12:45.907 --> 02:12:47.403
I only listed the original.
02:12:47.403 --> 02:12:53.984
I thought it would be stardew or hades yeah, yeah, hades a little bit lower actually, uh surprising.
02:12:53.984 --> 02:12:55.488
All right, josh, you're.
02:12:55.488 --> 02:13:04.618
You're uh rocking it with three points here and you've got first crack at our next question, which is for you as of december 2024.
02:13:04.618 --> 02:13:05.240
How many copies?
02:13:05.320 --> 02:13:09.291
oh my god, from the metal gear franchise hey, I don't know numbers.
02:13:09.572 --> 02:13:10.514
I don't know numbers.
02:13:10.613 --> 02:13:11.796
I just love this series.
02:13:12.037 --> 02:13:12.720
I'm going to have.
02:13:12.720 --> 02:13:19.845
So is it over $60 million, over $70 million, over $80 million, over $90 million?
02:13:20.567 --> 02:13:21.229
copies sold.
02:13:21.229 --> 02:13:26.106
Metal Gear is a very it could be a niche franchise to get into.
02:13:26.106 --> 02:13:32.404
It's not like Mario, but it was kind of the pillars of PlayStation and gaming in general.
02:13:32.404 --> 02:13:45.327
I am going to do something that I was taught whenever, whenever I was younger, on a test, when I don't know the answer, pixie that honestly.
02:13:45.547 --> 02:13:47.270
That would have been hilarious if you got it.
02:13:47.511 --> 02:13:50.583
Fuck uh but no, no, you did not get it, phil.
02:13:50.925 --> 02:13:55.625
you now have three options Is it over 60 million, over 70 million or over 90 million?
02:13:58.680 --> 02:13:59.564
I'm gonna go B.
02:13:59.564 --> 02:14:03.243
It is not B Shit, is it D?
02:14:03.243 --> 02:14:04.226
So Josh?
02:14:05.309 --> 02:14:07.743
is it over 60 or over 90?
02:14:07.844 --> 02:14:11.372
Hideo Kojima, hear me in the ether.
02:14:14.523 --> 02:14:15.444
I'm going to pick D.
02:14:15.444 --> 02:14:17.488
It is not D.
02:14:17.488 --> 02:14:20.474
Oh my God, Phil, would you like to make the choice it?
02:14:20.713 --> 02:14:20.854
is.
02:14:20.854 --> 02:14:23.444
Is it C?
02:14:26.560 --> 02:14:28.586
That's crazy.
02:14:28.586 --> 02:14:42.533
That is crazy, all right, but that being said, we're in the middle of game game you are winning, so game game phil does get first crack at this one.
02:14:42.533 --> 02:14:51.131
According to smash wiki, which of these characters are the lowest on their super smash bros ultimate tier list?
02:14:51.131 --> 02:14:52.613
Is it bowser jr?
02:14:52.613 --> 02:14:56.326
Mute to me sword fighter.
02:14:56.326 --> 02:14:59.814
So the sword fighter from the wii or zelda?
02:15:00.155 --> 02:15:02.921
which of these is lowest on their tier list?
02:15:03.021 --> 02:15:11.573
I don't think it's yep, so their tier list goes from a, b, c, d, e and of course, their s tier, which one is ranked the lowest.
02:15:11.573 --> 02:15:13.784
So more than likely they're on the D or the E tier.
02:15:13.845 --> 02:15:17.404
I think maybe based off his size, is it Bowser Jr?
02:15:17.404 --> 02:15:18.921
It is not.
02:15:18.921 --> 02:15:21.626
Oh crap, I should have gone with my gut.
02:15:21.626 --> 02:15:29.992
If it's my gut answer, I'm going to commit seppuku.
02:15:30.112 --> 02:15:32.003
Josh, do you have a guess here?
02:15:32.546 --> 02:15:33.789
Me, me, swordfighter.
02:15:34.720 --> 02:15:37.707
It was a good guess but, not the answer we're looking for.
02:15:38.009 --> 02:15:39.653
No, isn't Mewtwo.
02:15:39.653 --> 02:15:41.262
People hate the Pokemon characters.
02:15:42.286 --> 02:15:44.090
It is not what.
02:15:45.212 --> 02:15:47.664
Josh, it is Zelda.
02:15:47.966 --> 02:15:48.368
What?
02:15:48.368 --> 02:15:53.369
Zelda is right behind me, Sword Fighter how?
02:15:53.390 --> 02:15:54.271
Really.
02:15:54.472 --> 02:15:57.164
Yeah, mewtwo is in the C tier, though they don't love him.
02:15:58.220 --> 02:16:02.027
I'm so confused, I know I wonder why, I mean, I don't play Smash.
02:16:02.027 --> 02:16:04.570
I'm terrible at it, I know I don't know.
02:16:04.570 --> 02:16:06.153
Here we are.
02:16:06.734 --> 02:16:07.135
All right.
02:16:07.135 --> 02:16:10.095
Josh you're going to get.
02:16:11.619 --> 02:16:12.122
I don't have them for you.
02:16:12.141 --> 02:16:15.885
Josh, you're going to have first crack at the last multiple choice or no, we're at a multiple choice.
02:16:15.885 --> 02:16:17.465
Okay, I lost track of time.
02:16:17.465 --> 02:16:19.546
You're going to get first crack at.
02:16:19.546 --> 02:16:22.027
Actually, this can go for either of you guys.
02:16:22.027 --> 02:16:24.226
So first I want to shout out the answer.
02:16:24.226 --> 02:16:28.150
Take a look at the missing letters and the letters that you're seeing.
02:16:28.150 --> 02:16:32.721
This is three words.
02:16:32.721 --> 02:16:33.986
Who can complete the word?
02:16:33.986 --> 02:16:36.501
And if nobody can, I will give a hint Again.
02:16:36.501 --> 02:16:38.668
First one to shout out the right answer will get the point.
02:16:40.620 --> 02:16:46.389
Oh, my goodness gracious, oh my gosh Enunciate.
02:16:49.264 --> 02:16:50.820
For our audio only listeners.
02:16:50.820 --> 02:16:51.373
They are just staring at the screen.
02:16:51.326 --> 02:16:52.667
I know the second word For our audio only listeners.
02:16:52.667 --> 02:16:53.850
They are struggling Staring at the screen.
02:16:55.466 --> 02:16:56.845
I know the second word is Right.
02:17:04.912 --> 02:17:06.174
Phil, if you want to reveal the hint.
02:17:07.324 --> 02:17:08.668
I just click forward once, yep.
02:17:10.108 --> 02:17:13.855
The studio that handles this game is called Sucker Punch Ghost of.
02:17:13.855 --> 02:17:15.210
Tsushima, it is.
02:17:15.230 --> 02:17:15.978
Ghost of Tsushima.
02:17:17.123 --> 02:17:21.488
Jin Sakai, yes, which you recently played and beat.
02:17:21.921 --> 02:17:23.207
I did and I love.
02:17:24.772 --> 02:17:26.704
It is horseshit, but that game isn't.
02:17:26.704 --> 02:17:30.511
I loved that game so good.
02:17:30.861 --> 02:17:36.726
I played it for the first time for an episode we did because Phil had played it beforehand, but I played it for the first time last year.
02:17:36.726 --> 02:17:37.609
It was very, very good.
02:17:38.020 --> 02:17:40.747
It's one of the most beautiful gaming experiences I have ever had.
02:17:41.389 --> 02:17:44.306
Yeah, man, ghost of Yotai is going to be hype.
02:17:44.306 --> 02:17:47.127
Oh yeah, let's go ahead and jump into our next word.
02:17:47.127 --> 02:17:50.584
It's two words.
02:17:54.361 --> 02:17:54.582
Oreo.
02:17:54.582 --> 02:17:56.306
I literally thought Oreo into our next word.
02:17:56.306 --> 02:17:57.789
It's two words oreo not oreo.
02:17:57.789 --> 02:18:00.353
I'm just hungry, I'm a hungy man.
02:18:01.943 --> 02:18:03.005
I'm a hungy man.
02:18:03.005 --> 02:18:04.269
What?
02:18:04.409 --> 02:18:05.531
is that second word?
02:18:06.551 --> 02:18:13.913
nah, dude uh, no, oh man am I just, I'm just out of it.
02:18:13.913 --> 02:18:17.019
Um, nah, dude, no man, am I just, I'm just out of it.
02:18:17.039 --> 02:18:23.844
That's tough For you both, not to get at least one of the words kind of crazy, I'm kind of crazy, okay.
02:18:24.024 --> 02:18:24.506
I'm wild.
02:18:24.506 --> 02:18:26.031
Yeah, Oreo All right.
02:18:26.031 --> 02:18:26.432
Well, no.
02:18:26.921 --> 02:18:30.286
Oreo lets me know we need the hint, so if you want to reveal the hint.
02:18:32.221 --> 02:18:32.906
Photo Pokemon Snap.
02:18:35.248 --> 02:18:35.771
Motherfuck.
02:18:35.771 --> 02:18:39.665
The hint was photo and the game is Pokemon Snap.
02:18:39.665 --> 02:18:49.826
Alright, phil, I do believe you are down by like Two points, so Is this the last one?
02:18:49.826 --> 02:18:51.161
This is the last one.
02:18:51.161 --> 02:18:55.485
Maybe I don't have a tiebreaker, so I think you're going to just lose.
02:18:55.485 --> 02:18:58.627
I like two points, so this is the last one.
02:18:58.647 --> 02:19:05.974
This is the last one, okay, maybe I don't have a tiebreaker, so I think you're going to just lose, but it'll be interesting to see which one of you guys get this one.
02:19:05.974 --> 02:19:06.834
So Reddit mod.
02:19:06.853 --> 02:19:07.495
Reddit moderator mod.
02:19:07.495 --> 02:19:10.096
Not the worst guess, but not not correct.
02:19:10.096 --> 02:19:10.336
No.
02:19:11.220 --> 02:19:12.084
Is that three words?
02:19:12.084 --> 02:19:14.069
It is three words oh.
02:19:14.069 --> 02:19:30.367
Oh gosh, darn it, dude oh man, man, okay, this has got to be invigorating for the audio.
02:19:30.367 --> 02:19:31.009
Yeah, no, it's fine.
02:19:34.421 --> 02:19:35.637
Let's give you guys the hint.
02:19:35.637 --> 02:19:37.100
The hint is it's a first person shooter.
02:19:37.100 --> 02:19:38.004
Ready or not?
02:19:38.004 --> 02:19:39.245
It is.
02:19:39.843 --> 02:19:42.618
I'm in that game and I didn't even get it.
02:19:43.040 --> 02:19:44.647
I was going to say Josh is in that game.
02:19:44.647 --> 02:19:45.725
Oh are you?
02:19:45.725 --> 02:19:47.209
I am in it.
02:19:48.363 --> 02:19:50.463
He did voices for the game that team is really nice.
02:19:50.439 --> 02:19:50.826
Have you played it?
02:19:50.826 --> 02:19:51.031
I have played it.
02:19:51.031 --> 02:19:51.656
Damn it, he did voices for the game.
02:19:51.632 --> 02:19:51.908
That's awesome.
02:19:51.908 --> 02:19:52.906
That team is really nice too, have you played it?
02:19:52.906 --> 02:19:54.431
I have played it a little bit.
02:19:54.431 --> 02:19:56.066
That thing is realistic as fuck.
02:19:56.085 --> 02:19:56.368
It's hard.
02:19:56.368 --> 02:19:58.346
It is hard If you ever want to jump on and play.
02:19:58.346 --> 02:19:59.243
We need a fourth.
02:19:59.343 --> 02:20:00.827
Holy crap man.
02:20:00.827 --> 02:20:01.450
I would love that.
02:20:01.450 --> 02:20:03.986
That would be wild.
02:20:03.986 --> 02:20:05.463
That game is.
02:20:05.463 --> 02:20:11.191
That team that made that game is some of the nicest people I've met in the gaming industry.
02:20:11.470 --> 02:20:13.825
That's good because the stories are fucked up.
02:20:13.825 --> 02:20:15.565
It's good to know.
02:20:15.565 --> 02:20:17.565
When you really dig deep.
02:20:17.565 --> 02:20:19.706
That's some of the YouTube deep dives I've gone into.
02:20:19.706 --> 02:20:20.347
Is Ready or Not?
02:20:20.347 --> 02:20:22.247
Lore, that stuff is deep.
02:20:22.559 --> 02:20:24.227
Yeah, man, and it's realistic.
02:20:24.360 --> 02:20:25.685
They've built a really crazy world.
02:20:26.581 --> 02:20:27.865
Very realistic character.
02:20:27.865 --> 02:20:30.781
Yeah, it's a great game, crazy game.
02:20:31.183 --> 02:20:32.046
That is our game.
02:20:32.046 --> 02:20:32.768
Game.
02:20:33.228 --> 02:20:33.751
Game game.
02:20:34.040 --> 02:20:35.045
Josh, you won both of them.
02:20:35.280 --> 02:20:42.809
So kudos to you, thank you, and I thought Phil had a good shot at this, so I felt like that was a pretty even keel game.
02:20:43.040 --> 02:20:53.131
But yeah, that's a fun way for us to kind of wrap up a invigorating conversation about all types of fandoms and the highs and the lows of everything that you do.
02:20:53.131 --> 02:20:57.966
But I got to say, josh, like just seeing the work that you do, the effort, we are big fans.
02:20:57.966 --> 02:21:07.218
We're so excited to have had you on and this is a great opportunity for all of our listeners to learn about any of the projects you can talk about.
02:21:07.218 --> 02:21:15.111
I know some are still, you know, kind of in development and you still have some to announce, but I know there's been a lot happening for you recently.
02:21:15.111 --> 02:21:29.690
So if you want to take an opportunity just to shout out any projects that are coming up here in the near future or later on in the year that you want to shout out, this is your chance to do so, and we'll make sure to have all of your socials and everything in the show notes as well, appreciate that brother.
02:21:29.709 --> 02:21:31.253
Everything in the show notes as well.
02:21:31.253 --> 02:21:32.755
Appreciate that, brother.
02:21:32.755 --> 02:21:38.688
You know I'm not, I'm always, um, I'm always never, I'm never, like, good at talking about myself when it comes to work.
02:21:38.688 --> 02:21:42.802
But, um, the stuff that I can talk about, if anybody hasn't watched it, it's on Amazon prime and crunchy roll.
02:21:42.802 --> 02:21:45.388
My dear friend no Catan, it's 12 episodes.
02:21:45.549 --> 02:21:46.492
It's a comedy series.
02:21:46.492 --> 02:21:51.592
I was being very serious when I was like, yeah, it's like an SNL skit put into an anime.
02:21:51.592 --> 02:21:53.586
It's you turn your brain off, you have fun.
02:21:53.586 --> 02:22:00.871
It's 12 episodes and you'll laugh and it's the cast and I had a real good time doing it.
02:22:00.871 --> 02:22:07.429
And, you know, I think it would mean a lot to the cast, to, you know, to see a lot of people watch it.
02:22:07.429 --> 02:22:17.251
So, the reception that we've gotten at cons and just on the internet too, and just seeing the memes, the memes are wild, um, it's really cool.
02:22:17.251 --> 02:22:43.566
But, um, yeah, my dear friend nokatan, um, just recently, uh, my friend sarav, uh, he is the creator of the first Indian anime called Trio, and he just announced some stuff about it at Kolkata Comic Con across the world and was able to announce the cast and that's being in production right now.
02:22:44.260 --> 02:22:49.452
Myself and some other stars, some great voice actors in that as well.
02:22:49.452 --> 02:23:10.445
Some of the notables are Adam MacArthur Adam MacArthur, I hope I said that right voices Itadori from Jujutsu Kaisen and then Marissa Duran, who is also one of the leads in Hell's Paradise they were able to be a part of it and some other voice actors too on that team.
02:23:10.445 --> 02:23:12.340
It's just really cool to be a part of it, and some other voice actors too on that team.
02:23:12.340 --> 02:23:14.143
It's just really cool to be a part of that.
02:23:14.143 --> 02:23:17.631
Fun fact, saurav and I were close to each other.
02:23:17.631 --> 02:23:27.765
We both live in the Florida area, so it was really kind of like fate for us to meet and that's how we started that off.
02:23:27.765 --> 02:23:28.448
So it's pretty cool.
02:23:29.328 --> 02:23:34.344
Dislight is a mobile game I play as I voice, as Fushi in that.
02:23:34.344 --> 02:23:42.345
Funny enough, I've had some people come up to me at cons and say, like you're Fushi in Dislight and I'm like yo, wait, oh my gosh, yo a Dislight fan.
02:23:42.345 --> 02:23:51.188
So that's a game that I'm in and just a good amount of other stuff too that I can't talk about.
02:23:51.188 --> 02:23:54.967
A and uh, just a good amount of other stuff too, um, that I can't talk about.
02:23:54.967 --> 02:24:05.888
A lot of the projects, a lot of the indie projects kind of like, kind of like conjure up together and I just like it's not that I forget about them, it's just like there's so much and then it kind of like coincides with the, uh, the full-time work that I do for narration and such.
02:24:05.888 --> 02:24:14.567
So I guess another one is the back rooms, lost tapes and then a few other, uh, horror games, uh, that I don't think I can talk about.
02:24:14.567 --> 02:24:22.250
So there's a good amount uh that I'll be posting on my social soon, uh, but again NDA stink.
02:24:22.250 --> 02:24:25.206
So yeah, man.
02:24:26.240 --> 02:24:28.549
And I know Phil uh, I could speak for both of us.
02:24:28.549 --> 02:24:31.468
This was fantastic to have you on, josh.
02:24:31.468 --> 02:24:36.783
Like really, really appreciated it Enthusiasm that you had from the show bringing it on here.
02:24:36.783 --> 02:24:46.407

02:24:46.870 --> 02:25:18.251
We did we just really really appreciate it and, Phil, definitely definitely time worth having here yeah, josh, thank you so much for joining us here tonight, and you know, once again, when we linked up at Brixley Anime Festival, we had an idea that not only you but your entire cast were people that we could vibe with, and yourself, and also Rue, have just been so gracious with your time in terms of giving me advice, as I've started my own voice acting journey, so I apologize, I will be jumping into your DMs quite a bit, just like you said you did once upon a time.
02:25:18.251 --> 02:25:25.693

02:25:25.693 --> 02:25:27.846
