How do people justify illegal immigration if others went through the legal process?

Join me in trying to answer this question with the layers and layers of context needed. There is no such thing as fairness, though I would love to have it, and it is not rainbows and butterflies to come to the U. S. illegally. Thanks for curious people who have the courage to ask the hard questions even when they are already leaning towards a certain side.
