Description:
Ever looked back at a past version of yourself and winced? That feeling—that mild, almost amusing sense of embarrassment—might be the secret weapon you need for real, lasting personal change. In this episode, we dive into a powerful and surprisingly gentle technique for breaking bad habits. Forget shame and guilt; we're exploring how a subtle feeling of "cringe" can help you dis-identify from old behaviors and finally become the person you want to be.
Join us as we break down a practical, step-by-step method (using quitting smoking as a prime example) that leverages this "benign embarrassment" to create cognitive dissonance and detachment from unwanted habits. We discuss how to apply it in hypnotherapy, coaching, or even for your own self-development, while drawing a clear line between productive, mild embarrassment and harmful shame.
If you've ever struggled to shake a habit and felt like you're fighting a part of yourself, this episode offers a refreshingly effective perspective: the key isn't fighting the old you, but looking back and realizing, "I'm not that person anymore."
