Speaker 1: The volume. Daniel Cormier! Last week, Gable Steveson lost his fight, and he got knocked out in 12 seconds. Obviously, you guys know that Gable Steveson is the Olympic champion, highly touted prospect, everything from wrestling. I wanted to wait a few days to kind of gather a whole picture of how, one, people reacted to the loss, two, How Gable reacted to the loss. After the fight, I said, Gable, when you lose, you take your lick. You let that man get your hand raised. You go about your business. I did continue to say, because you're going to win much more than you're going to lose. I said that. You got to just deal with it, because there are going to be many more times where Gable wins and he gets his hand raised, and that guy is going to have to stand there and take it. I thought he should have stayed there. A couple days after, I see a video of me in 2017 after Jon Jones knocked me out. And it was me pulling away from John McCarthy and trying to leave the octagon. I had no recollection of that. I've never watched that. In nine years, I've watched the fight. I've watched him knocking me out. I've watched him pretty much finish the fight, then I turn it off. It is a wound that is very difficult to watch. I never saw me behave that way in the octagon. But I will say this. I will say this. That is the behavior that I imagine I would have displayed. The reason I didn't think that I was in that same situation because I did the interview where I was crying in the octagon after the fight was over. So I was like, well, I couldn't have left. But I thought it was A.I., I'd never seen it. Then I got people in the thing telling me it's AI. When I put, I said, hey, did I actually do that? I had no idea because I still don't remember. I really don't remember. From that moment the kick landed until I got into the ambulance afterwards to where I kind of woke up. It was fucking odd. It was so odd. And even now, I still can't recall those moments. Now I've seen the memory. And that was bad behavior. But here's the thing. Here's the thing. That is a behavior I probably would have done. I would have yanked my arm away from him. I would have been very disappointed. I would have been mad. obviously somebody was able to speak to me enough to make me stay into the octagon, and I'm glad that they did. Because John did deserve his moment that night. He pitched the shutout. He had a masterpiece. That performance was, honestly, for all that John Jones has done in his career, that should be the performance that he is remembered by. Because I was so good on that night. It ain't about what somebody else wasn't. That performance, for him to do to that version of me on that night, Should be when you're speaking about MMA, speaking about the ups and downs of a fight, the setups, the way you want your fighter to fight. That should be what Jon Jones should remember, be remembered for, because on that night he fought so well. I saw a lot of anything dealing with Jon, Daniel Hayes, even Gable. I love Gable. I actually spoke to Gable on Sunday morning after it happened. I don't hate Gable Steveson. I think Gable Steveson, the world Olympic champion in the sport that I love. I watched him accomplish great things. I know a lot of people are making a lot of stuff about all that stuff in Minnesota. I had no idea that happened. Because at the end of the day, I was there to watch a kid try to do something great at the UFC. Obviously, whatever he did, the UFC was willing to let him compete on their stage. It's that true. I don't hate Gable Steveson. Honestly, I gave Jon Jones credit for being a great coach before the fight even started on Saturday night because of how good Gable looked in the first fight with the front kicks. He was showing or using a lot of the same skills that Jones used to use inside the octagon. It was just very odd. Some of the reactions to... That loss. I saw John say, and this is to the point. This is to my point about I said John Jones. Guys, I was very vocal about I think John Jones is the wrong coach. I don't think John Jones has the personality to step aside and allow you to be the star. I don't believe that. I said that. But as time has gone on, he's proven more that he could actually do that. And he did that for Gable. And I think the biggest example of this was after the fight when Jones said, I've seen reports online and I really want to clear the air. It was my decision to take Gable straight to the back after the fight, honestly. It was the first time in this situation for me, and my instant reaction was to get my friend to the back to make sure he was okay. His work ethic and will to win is there, and I stand by him and believe it will go on to be one of the best heavyweights in the UFC. He'll be back, I'm sure of it. John is probably lying in this situation. It probably was not his decision to go back, but that's what a coach does. If your athlete is taking the bombs, you jump on the sword for him. You jump on the bomb for him. Jon Jones, his legacy, and the way that people view him is just the way that people view him. Him leaving an octagon could not change the fact that he has done all those things in the past, and people still accept him. So he understands that he's bulletproof. I can take this. Gable hasn't done this before. He hasn't dealt with this on this level. Because if we're mad because Jon Jones took him out of the octagon, You guys were mad when he did all those other things. And we still accepted him as fans in mixed martial arts. So he feels safe to be able to say, it was my fault. But that's what a good coach does. When the Seattle Seahawks were on the one-yard line and they threw the ball instead of giving it to Marshawn Lynch, Pete Carroll said it was me because that's what a good coach does. So all those opinions I had of Jones as a coach, I'm not walking them back a little bit because I see him doing things like this. Gable Stevenson said, my family, my friends, my fans, and the people who truly know me know the kind of man that I am. I know there are people who will never support me no matter what I say or do, but that's their choice. I want to be clear. I didn't do anything alleged. I was never charged with a crime, and the matter was ultimately dropped by the district attorney. The allegations were not ignored nor brushed aside. They were thoroughly and heavily reviewed as I fully cooperated with the law, included a separate Title IX review. He spoke about the issues in Minnesota, which he got so much flack for. Now look, Sean Schraff did a good job last week introducing that back to the story because that ultimately can be distracting for Steveson. Let me tell you about this new sports trade app. It's called Polymarket. It's the best way to trade all things sports. So in the past, if you wanted action on the game, you'd have to put some money in. And if your team was doing well and you wanted to cash out, they'd either lock the trade or they would take a huge fee. But Polymarket is a prediction market. Essentially, it's a stock exchange for sports. You get to buy in and you get to sell on your own terms. Say your team goes down 20%. Well, you buy in and then you sell it off at 40% when they come back and you double your money. Polymarket is simply the best. prediction market. And they're so confident that they predict you'll never go back to the other guys and the old way. They're going to give you $ 50 free when you deposit just 10. Let me tell you something. That is confidence with the Polymarket team. So use my code DCMMA. They've even launched a new feature. It's called squads. where you can see what everybody else is doing at Polymarket. Download the Polymarket app today. Use my promo code DCMMA when you sign up. We'll give you $ 50 free. When you deposit, only $ 10 to start. Go now, like right now. But when you watch the way the world reacted, it really does tell you how... as fleeting support can be. Because I have seen people jump down this kid's throat that the week prior were speaking to him as if he was a savior in mixed martial arts. Gable did a lot of things wrong in that fight. He did throw past the guy's head and he did close his eyes when he was punching at him. We also got to recognize the kid that has four fights and he's already fighting in the biggest organization in the world. And I'm not making excuses. When you sign that contract, You got to be ready to compete or that's going to happen. But to think that that result determines what his career looks like going forward, to me that just seems so unfair and such a rush to judgment. Right now is the time? for Gable to try to have that reset. He's got to reset, right? He's got to reset. Just like our good friends at Factor Foods do. We're always resetting. They reset you with healthy food. They make it easy for you. They provide everything you need. And Luis, I need the code. Put the code in the contract. They provide everything you need. They simplify trying to live a healthy lifestyle. So as they allow for us to reset, as they allow meat to reset, Gable has to do the same thing. And if you're looking for that reset, DC show 50% off at Factor Foods, Factor Meals to get that discount. But Gable needs that reset. He's got to reset. He's got to reset his mind. He's got to reset his approach. Because here's the thing that's going to be hard for Gable Steveson. He was at the very top of wrestling. There is nowhere you can go higher than Olympic champion. Josh Holkett was a wrestler also. They started doing this around the same time. And Josh Hogan is fighting for the heavyweight championship. But Josh Hogan did not make the mistakes that Gable Steveson did in his earlier fights. Honestly, Josh Hogan ran to the fight. He fought more, but he ran towards the fight. He didn't run away from the fight. And Gable doing this was a massive mistake. You can't do that. You just can't do that. He's got to reset his approach. He's got to reset his mind. You know, honestly, the visual, the drop top driving to the arena in Los Angeles, I did not like that. I did not like that. If I was if I was a kid's coach, I would have made him not do that. Let's take it a little bit slower. Let's be a little more cautious, because at the end of the day, you're an Olympic champion. You represented our country on the greatest stage. There's a massive section of people that want to support you, but when you do things like that, it makes it more difficult. Especially when on the other side, the kid is $ 600, 000 in debt, former Marine that's 0-2, and it just seems like he's cannon fodder for you to go knock him out. But I think this was a massive learning lesson for Gable. One, I didn't know I did that. I did that, but I am so thankful that someone made me stay there and do that interview and let Jones get his hand raised. The first time Jones beat me, I stood there. He got his hand raised. When Stipe beat me, I stood there. They got their hand raised. I was so knocked out in that second Jones fight. When I saw that clip, guys, and I see myself like wobbling and rocking and like trying to go back towards Jones. The fuck was I going to do? He had just knocked me out. Was I going to fight him? Was I going to? What am I doing? That's crazy. There's no more fight. The fight's over. There's no more fight. I was so messed up, though. And now looking back on it, I regret it. I was wrong. But I do stand firm in my belief that you stand there and you let that man get his moment. But don't ever be okay with losing. The only person that they do this shit and they're shaking hands, those are the people that like to lose. The ones that don't lose often, the great ones, they do have bad reactions. But ultimately, what determines how you are is what happens when you cool down, what happens when you reassess everything, and what happens when you move forward. And for me, I believe... I believe Gable Steves is going to be okay. I really do. I really do. He's an amateur. He's young. He's young. But his time will come. I kind of want to get into Gon Hogan, but I'll do that later because I want to do a video dedicated to that in itself. But I believe that this is a big one. I believe it's a big step up for Josh. But I believe it's a big time fight. And I believe it was the fight that needed to be made. I told you guys this last week. If the heavyweight title is up for grabs, it needs to involve Josh Hogan. And it is. Right? So I will make... I will make a video for that and Amanda versus Kayla beginning of next week. And I'll go really into detail on those fights. But right now, I want to touch on this Gable-Steveson situation. I do stand firm in what I said. You take your lick. You take your lick. Because he's going to be on the other side much more than he will be on the negative side. I saw somebody actually say maybe he's just not or doesn't have a career in sports. He failed in the WWE, failed in the NFL, and now he's failed in the UFC. He lost one time. To me, that's just such a definite. That's crazy. How can you have such a strong opinion when he lost one time? That's a... Bo Nickel got beaten. Everybody wanted to jump down his throat and look at him now. You can't make definitive remarks about knowing how quickly things can change in our sport. It's unbelievable when people make those types of statements. All right, guys, until next time, like, subscribe, tell your friends, tell their friends to come and join you at Daniel Cormier's show. Until next time, peace.

Daniel Cormier IS BACK to talk all things UFC, MMA, and combat sports, this time DOUBLING DOWN on his criticism of Gable Steveson after leaving the octagon following his UFC 331 KNOCKOUT LOSS to Sean Sharaf. DC says he spoke to Gable Sunday about the loss, and expects him to bounce back better than ever, despite feeling like he needed to stay in there and accept the loss. Cormier also gives Jon Jones his flowers as a coach, saying he was wrong to assume that Jones wasn't good for the role, and he believes that taking the blame for Gable leaving further proves his potential as a coach. DC also gives his quick take on the massive heavyweight title fight between Ciryl Gane and Josh Hokit for the interim belt, which he predicted would happen last week. Hear what Cormier believes is next for Gable, why he will only continue to get better, and where he believes Jon has been a great coach for the young prospect. #Volume
