Sitting here with all my friends, the Danets, sitting inside the man Cave, warm, secure, happy. I hope you guys are enjoying yourself. My hands are a little sweaty, oh they are. Yeah, a little breezy out here, but you know, we plow through it. That's what champions do right time. Yeah, you need like mittens or a scarf or anything like that. I know the fire thing didn't quite work out. Fire didn't do well yesterday. Yes, polie, you kind of look like if you just tune in and you look like a what is it the weather channel? You look at one of those guys outside right before a storm, like a sleep scene center. If we could pump in some wind with those shrubs in the back, you look like Tevin Wootton or one of those guys who's out there fighting the storm. You know, you could get the hair looks good, you got the headset on. You got that. You need a slicker though, I gotta get a slicker. No, no, I got my link soul puffy coat on links old today keeping me warm here all right, got a lot of things to talk about today. By the way, Heat roll the Sixers and the Suns handle the Mavericks. Sometimes when you get those blowouts, you go man, series is over right. We've said that before with the Heat and the Sixers, the Suns and the Mavericks. But Suns handle the Mavericks last night one ten to eighty, Heat roll the Sixers one twenty to eighty five. Tonight, Bucks at the Celtics Game five, Warriors at the Grizzlies Game five. And it doesn't look like there's going to be a job or rent sighting. This program brought to you by Simply Safe protecting against floods. One of the reasons more than four million people trust their home protection to simply Safe. What's simply safe. You can always have somebody looking out for you to claim if fre indoor security camera plus twenty percent off go to simply safe dan dot com. We will check in with Chris Mannox, he covers the NBA. We'll talk about not only the games, but also what's happening with the Lakers coaching search. Andrew Marshawn, New York Post media columnist. When it comes to breaking news in this business, Andrew Marshawn he's sort of the Adam schefter here, and Tracy McGrady NBA Hall of Famer. A little bit later on, we'll talk about Tom Brady's new deal with Fox. We thought maybe it's twenty to twenty five a year. It's a whole lot more than that, and it's one of those personal services contracts, and we'll talk about that, how Fox gets their money's worth out of Tom Brady and tom Brady's role when he finally retires. Eight seven seven three d P Show email address DP at Dan Patrick dot com, Twitter handle at the DP show, come up with the poll question, play of the day, stat of the day, all of that forthcoming. Remember when we would talk about athletes and go, oh, do you hear about him? He went broke. I get it's gonna be harder to go broke now in professional sports because it feels like you're gonna make a ton. You can make a ton a year done. Lebron James has made over a billion dollars. Tom Brady is going to make more in his Fox deal than he's made in his NFL career, around three hundred million in his NFL career, and he's going to get close to three seventy five over ten years with his post career. That is more than enough, I would think, right, salaries continue to rise, players continue to be given these lucrative opportunities, and might not be long until we see multiple former players actually have a chance to own a team, not just be the star of a team, but own a team. And I was told last night by a TV executive this doesn't preclude Tom Brady from wanting to be or maybe turning out to be an owner of the Miami Dolphins or some other team, that he could still do this with this Fox deal. Now, there might be conflict of interest, but I was told last night just because Brady is going to be with Fox doesn't mean he still wouldn't want to. This executive doesn't know Tom, but said it wouldn't preclude him from trying to be an owner in the NFL. Setan what kind of poll question we have today? Well, we can start with one based off the Tom Brady story. And I've removed NBC from this because obviously we're on Peacocke better Booth, Jim Nanson, Tony Romo, Kevin Burkhard, and Tom Brady, Joe Buck and Troy Aikman, Al Michaels and Kirk herp Street. What if Tom Brady isn't a good broadcaster? Very possible, you know, I just I throw that out there. That's one of those Oh, by the way, is Tom going to be good at this? Because is it going to be measured? Is it going to be careful? What role will his social media team play in this? Is he gonna have writers helping he kills on social media? I don't know how many staff writers he has, but he does really, really well and he's going to be doing big games. People are going to expect him to be great. There have been some great football players who weren't great broadcasters. Just because you can do it doesn't mean you can tell us how to do it. And I think that'll be the interesting part Brady's approach to it. Does Brady want to be Tony Romo? Does he want to be Peyton Manning? Does he want to be Chris Collinsworth, Troy Aikman, or does he establish himself? This is how Tom does it. I don't know, but I know that the personality is there. I have told this story before when ESPN had the magazine and the back page. I would always interview athletes and it was just fun stuff. And I remember interviewing Brady on a Monday night and we did it over the phone and he was watching Monday night football and I was just asking questions and he was relative of Lee Young, and I remember he was off the cuff funny, you know, he was making fun of himself and I. At one point he said something and he said, I probably don't want to say that. I go probably not. You know that that's Tom Brady a long, long time ago. And if you said that's the personality that he's going to have in the booth, having fun off the cuff a little bit, then he'll be really successful. But I worry sometimes that if we get Patriot Tom instead of buccaneer Tom, buccaneer Tom is vacation Tom. That that guy's having a good time to drink Tommy. That that I like, But if he does the Patriot way, that's not going to be good. Yeah. I don't think Patriot Tom exists anymore. Well, I don't know if he wants to be conservative. Hey, I don't want to criticize anybody like I don't know. I don't know as a pro coach. Is he capable of being both? Yes, he's proven that. But vacation Tom is a whole lot of fun and if he goes into the booth that way, that could be interesting. Everybody was looking for the next Tony Romo. Well there's only Tony Romo now. Drew Brees couldn't do it. Chris Colin's Worth, that's not his approach, Troy, that's not his approach. I don't know what Brady's approach is going to be. Yeah, Paully, it's only it's less than a year and a half ago that Tony Romo signed a contract for seventeen million a year and people went berserk the next day. I remember talking about on our show. I think Romo is interesting because he wasn't great. He was unique when he came out. I remember his first month. He was all over the place. He was like a wildcat, just calling plays, trying to predict, sometimes making mistakes, laughing at himself. But he was this wild card and the focus became Romo. I think that opened the door for the past year and a half. The coverage of Romo's debut opened the door. But I don't think you hear anything about Tony Romo. Now, no, but that first month you sure did. Yeah, but you don't know. Nobody goes, oh my gosh, Tony made a prediction. Get it feels like there's less talk about Tony Romo being Nostradamus here. I still think the approach I would love to seeing. And this is what I thought if Peyton was going to do it, is you Actually he takes you behind the line of scrimmage and you have a camera that allows you to almost follow the quarterback as he goes to the line of scrimmage. Therefore, Tom tells you exactly what he would see, and you just say, you know, here's Tom cam. And Tom is going to say, all right, you see that linebacker right there. All right, I'm gonna check down on that. You know what, I'm gonna do this, So he's doing it in real time. That to me would be fascinating. And I thought Peyton would do that, where Peyton would walk you to the line of scrimmage and just say, all right, I got a problem over. Oh you know what, I'm going to take advantage of that right there. You know what we're calling a run play, But I'm gonna change it. I'm gonna change it right now, I would change it to a past So then we're in their head. That's something that nobody else is doing. But just have Tom Kim follow the quarterback up to the line of scrimmage and let Brady tell you what he thinks is going to happen. And then after the fact, you could let him see it from the defensive side of things and just say, all right, this is what the safety is looking at. This is what he saw, this is why it worked. It didn't work. Now if you give me that, now you've given me something different, and then you throw in some fun with that Brady SENSEI humor. Then plus, understand this, this isn't just about football. Fox is signing up Tom Brady to be a good will ambassador. He's the greeter at the casino. He's going to be there. Let's say you want to have Mercedes Benz be a big sponsor your Super Bowl coverage. All of a sudden, next thing, you know, Mercedes, Hey, um, why don't you guys come down to Florida. Tom would love to play golf with you guys. The mask singer, Hey, Tom Brady, I mean, don't don't rule it out. American idol. Guess Judd, come on out, Tom, don't rule it out. On election night, He'll be like Steve Karnak, I could see Alabama go either way. Don't rule it else. Thanks Tom, back to you. I was talking to this TV executive and he said, they will have Tom in any capacity they think he's He's going to be a bargain. That was the quote I got last night. I go, wait, help me with that. He goes, he'll he'll be worth a billion dollars to them. You're gonna pay him three hundred and seventy five million dollars over ten years. Over ten years, he's going to make you three times that. So you know, everybody's gonna get caught up on Tom's making that kind of money. Trust me, he wouldn't make that kind of money if Fox didn't think that they could capitalize on Tom Brady, the image, the brand, everything about him. Yes, PAULI, Okay, here's a big question. And you know more about executives and TV than us on this side. Okay, For most people I talked to, they don't care who is calling the games. If Monday and Night football is called by Al Michaels or Jim Nance or Kevin Burkard. They're watching or not watching the exact amount of time and they're not tuning in to It enhances their experience, but it doesn't change their viewing patterns, so it doesn't affect ratings than gree seventy five for Tom Brady. What is Fox actually getting out of this? And could this be just big executives at different networks don't like to lose, and in this frenzy of getting that got other people acquiring Tony Romo and Wakeman. They just don't want to lose, and that's what this is all about. Well, I think you want to have that person, those people when you host a big event, if it's the super Bowl, you're tuning in tom Brady's going to call a super Bowl. The value in that Jim Nance. You want to have that big guy who's they're hosting NBC with Bob Constance. Like you tune in and you feel comfortable with that person, You've seen that person, You've heard that person, and I think that that factors in as well. Are more people going to tune in for Tom Brady? Yeah, they will, at least to start, and then it'll probably you know, settle down a little bit to what the regular numbers are going to be. But I think this is more of these are the people leading our you know, our sports coverage here, and that could be executives trying to out executive executives, and maybe that's what it is ego there. Yeah, there's a lot of people that don't like Tom Brady though. Yeah, but you may tune in just to hear him not do well or you want to be critical of him. Social media is probably going to rough him up a little bit, but he knows that. Like I could imagine, you know, yesterday Steelers fans just rolling their eyes like, oh god, now I gotta watch him too, you know what I mean. I had a friend who is obviously not a Patriot fan or Tom Brady fan. He goes, oh my god, can you just please go away just for a little while. Yeah, spend some time with your family. I think we're gonna go away before he goes away, Yes, yeah, Paul. Okay, here's a question. Okay, when do we need to take a break. Yeah, that's fine, Okay, all right, Well we'll come back, we'll talk about this, we'll settle on a poll question age seven seventh three d P show. I'm curious if you have a problem with Tom Brady as a broadcaster, like, do announcers even matter to you? Do they enhance the you know, the experience? They're so good that Tyler likes to munch on them during the show. He's a human, yes he is. Last I looked, it's breezy out here, by the way, what do you think it is? Fifty eight fifty nine? Well, I don't know. I got a wind, uh, you know, a westerly wind right now? It feels like, yeah, yes to nice jacket. It looks like you've got like all these abs, like it's some kind of Marvel character or something like that. Maybe you should wear it. I probably it's not necessary, but you took a shot. You're very competitive like that. What year? When is the last time you had abs? I'm gonna I don't think I ever had abs, But the last time I was comfortable with my shirt off, you probably would be like late eighties, early nineties ladies things comfortable with your shirt off? That isn't good, like line of delineation. Yeah, it's like you know you're I'm that guy like you go into the pool. It's like, I can't believe I I'm gonna go in with my T shirt on. I'm gonna be that guy, even like on vacation where no one cares. I'm a dad and no one's looking at me anyway. But I still maybe I may go in with a T shirt onto the pool. That's weak, Okay, anybody happy with their shirts off? Happy? I think that's a little too far. Comfortable comfortable? How about not embarrassed? Okay, I feel not embarrassed with it off. Maybe I should think again. Yeah, lets everybody take our shirts off. Okay, feel well, I'm outside or I would, but I've got I got to wear my puffy coat out. Well, you don't want to be sitting down with your shirt off, because even if you're let's say you're in decent shape, that roll off. That's here it all falls apart, it does. There's no way to hide that. Yeah, that's when it looks like a mud slide. Yes, you could put a roll of quarters underneath. And it's so. I was watching trans Transporter. Is it Transporter three with Jason Statham? Is that what the the franchise is? Yeah? He in the beginning he's got his shirt off. Wow, that's not fair. Is he still jacked? Oh my god? It embarrassingly jacked? Where you go? Okay, dude, And you know they do their best, like you know, a woman, you know, they try to showcase a beautiful woman with you know, sexy clothes on. I think they just said, hey, how many how many scenes can we have with Jason Statham doesn't have your shirt on? How about four? Yeah? Seton. We just watched at home. I just watched with my wife. Jack asked, four. Of course, it's a very romantic Saturday. Okay, we're actually watching it to see if it was okay for our son to watch, which within the first ten seconds was an immediate note, an immediate absolutely not. And so she was watching that movie with her. Was actually sort of humiliating because I was laughing so hard and she was like, is this what you guys do when you're alone? Um? But anyway, there's this point in the movie where Johnny Knoxville like lifts up the bottom of his shirt to I don't wipe some fluid off of his face, and he's got he's shredded, he's got abs and stuff, and she's like, oh, look, he's still in good shape. M I was like, man, I don't think that that was meant to be a shot at me, but it really feels like it really feels like I took it personally, like I know I should be in better shape. Okay, I know, I know, And I don't think she meant it that way at all. Yeah. I read an article once about like abs are kind of genetic, where the translucency of your skin is kind of like you either have it or you don't know much how much working out you do, and it makes me feel better about not having abs because I'm like, hey, it's it's genetics. There's nothing I could do about it. You read one article that kind of bails you out. Well, I don't know if you go. You know, it's hereditary. That's why I don't have them, Like you just keep telling people. That's what I've been telling myself for twenty years. That's just hereditary. That's why I don't have adams. Yeah. See, that is the h That excuse is the cousin of It's not the size of the boat. It's the motion of the ocean. That's you know, the abs are genetic. It's not everybody. Yeah. Yes, When I consider, and I underline consider, try to do a sit up, I'm like, well, my dad didn't have ads and my grandfather did it. Well, am I really wasted my time. I think I'm just gonna go out fro cheese to it. There has been an ab and the Path's family for centuries. You go back to ancestry dot com. Low abs, great personality, Augustus Paths, no abs. Augustus. He was a good one. I have this buddy from college, Dan, you've met this guy before. He's never worked out a day in his life. He's probably like six one about one eighty. He looks like Brad Pitton fight Club and he has yet to work out. All he does is eat like bacon double cheeseburgers and smoke Marlboro Reds and he looks like Brad Pitt. It's the most disturbing thing. And he's fifty one years old. I had I had a quarter pounder which cheese the other day. Really, there you go, that's actual mccourage. I haven't had a quarter pounder with cheese in over a decade. From McDonald's. Yes, I did. I did. But you know, when I got COVID and I went up to Vermont, I took the dog and I we went up there and sort of quarantine and then coming back and I thought, now's the time to have McDonald's. Yeah, when you're driving by yourself in the car, all by myself, got COVID, got the dog with me, and I pull in and I was like, I'm gonna I call my wife. I said, you'll never guess where I am. She goes, well, hopefully on your way home. I go, I am, I'm in a drive through. She goes McDonald's. I said, yeah, I'm ordering a quarter pounder and she goes with cheese. I go, yes, why, why how I go half? And she goes, why, I'm proud of you. And I go okay, and she goes, is that in? I go, yeah, I'll see you in a couple hours. I don't know why COVID's better for you. Then it's a big man. Did that thing taste good? I bet it was awesome? It was great? And now all of a sudden, in the back of your mind you're like, I remember Big Max being really good. Yeah, I know, And then you feel guilty and you go, I should be working out. No, you get over that. You about ten fifteen minutes later you're like, you know what. You move on. But dude, you know you have a problem if you go get the quarter a pounder McDonald's and then you go across the street to get the union rings from Burger Kicking you do it too. First, I want onion rings, but they don't have undon rings in McDonald's. But I want a quote a pounder. Have you done that? Not recently, but I will honestly say there was a time where I kind of did I'm gonna get something from one place, and then I'm gonna get something else for the other side. Yes, So where I live, there's a McDonald's right across the street from Burger King and me, my wife and my son. Sometimes we used to do We don't do it so much anymore about Burger Donald's, Surf turf. You get burg you get burgers from Burger King, you get the fries from McDonald's, and you're all good. And we live by the Mottels. Sometimes it's no good, but it's so good, right good, so good, no good, it's so good that would probably describe this show. But so good, that's great. Uh so we got it. We had a no hit last night, the Angels. Rookie read Dettmar's no hits the Rays Angels in first place. It's not that uncommon when you get rookie pitchers throwing no hitters. And if you, I guess the way you can look at it is twofold. If you're a rookie pitcher, they haven't seen you. You know, what's the book that they have on you? And he's a former number one pick I think out of Louisville. But how much information do you have on some of these pitchers? And you saw that last night where you know he's twenty two years of age, no hits, the Rays and the Angels in first place. More importantly, Charles Barkley had something to say about Joe ellenbad last night, and I don't agree with it. I mean, the Sixers did not look good at all. Jimmy Butler scored twenty three. They blew out the seventy sixers, the Heat undefeated at home in the postseason. Thirty five point margin of victory matches the seventy sixers first round win over the Raptors as the largest margin of victory this postseason. And Joe Ellenbid, James Harden, you know, nobody's scoring at least twenty points for the seventy six Ers. And Charles Barkley had this to say about Joe Ellenbid playing Joel Embiid is so distracted, in my opinion, right as the MVP thing. He is. He not there tonight. He got six points, but he's not being aggressive. He's throwing the ball away. I'm like, and I wander on that team. Who's gonna say, Yo, man, you you the MVP. We knew you the MVP. Not go ahead and prove it. But Ernie, when you are mad about something. It can work work both ways, and it's working the wrong way for Joel Mba tonight. He is so distracted. And like I say, Derek Smyer, Rick Mahon and Dan Martley they told me, man, man, do you playing like crap? Get your head out your ask them play better. And somebody got to say that. Okay, I don't agree with Charles at all because Joe Ellenbad is playing with a fractured thumb, a broken orbitable or orbital bone, and he's still out there playing. Um, if you want to question the other guys, then you probably have a legitimate uh you know, beef here, but not Joe Ellenbead. I'm not going to question him. And Joe Ellenbeid said, you know, if he plays well or he doesn't play well. If he does play or he doesn't play, it feels like he can't win. And Bead had this to say, you know, this is a loss little situation for me. You know, if I don't play, you know, probably gotta call soft. You know, he fo play and I'll play bad. Uh, you know, probably said, you know, probably come up with a bunch of stuff that I guess he's just not good enough. You know, I know, I know he wants to talk about this or he's asked about it. Um. He I think he thought he was going to win the MVP. I thought up until the last week or so of the regular season that he was gonna win the MVP. And I'd have no problem if he won the MVP. I think what he's done has been really incredible. First couple of years he's not even playing because of that that back injury, and he has been one of the great players in the game ever since then. And he steps up. You can't count on James Harden. I love Tyrese, Tyres Maxie, you know, but Philadelphia to me is not a great team and you want to give it to Joe Ellenbid, I would have no issue with that. MB did congratulate the Joker on the MVP conquest, Nicol Uh, you know, did he had an amazing season? Uh? You know, there's no vital of all. You know, there's there was a lot of candidates. He could have gone either with Yannis Um you know, Devin Book of you know, being on the best team in the league by fall and uh. He also talked about the award itself and the importance of it yeah, last year, our campaign about it this show. You know, I answer questions when I was accent, you know, in the next you know, a few years on, Sala retires almost like yeah, to me, it's just I don't know, Like I said, I don't know what else how to do to win it. And to me it's at this point is like he's whatever. I understand his frustration, but he can't let it consume him, sort of like not winning a Sports Emmy for this show has consumed us, but I don't think it's been a detriment to the show. Who is who is most bothered by us not winning a Sports Emmy seat and o'cunor is right extremely bothered. Has it affected your performance on the show. It's affected my mood. Oh, it has definitely. Example, I could promise you I haven't tried a bit harder since we haven't won a Sports Emmy. I guarantee it. Make that promise. You know, you don't want to talk about it publicly, Like I love the fact that it means so much to him that he does talk about it, that he is campaigning for it because he knows that's what great players get. They get recognized with being the MVP. But if I'm Joe l Embiid, I'm still playing basketball right now. The Joker's not. That's where you say, Look, I may not win the MVP, hopefully i'm the finals MVP. Because if you said I can be a regular season MVP or a finals MVP, I'll take the Finals MVP. I've won a championship and you're gonna be remembered for that more than you are if you're a regular season MVP. Now, I don't know if the Joker would trade places with you because your team is not very good, but you are playing in the playoffs. Here, Luca Lucas still playing in the playoffs. He didn't win the MVP. The Greek Freak still playing. He didn't win the MVP. Devin Booker didn't win the MVP. He's still playing. Devin and Booker scored twenty eight. He's the eighteenth player in NBA history to score at least eight hundred points in his first thirty playoff games. Stat of your day, stat of the day, best out of the day, stat of the day. Here comes that what stat of the day. They went back and forth a little bit. There was a play where Devin Booker went to the hoop and he got hit in the head and he stayed down and then the camera was on him, and then he was kind of milking it a little bit more than he needed to. He actually got busted on it, and it's like, hey, I think I'm oh, I think he was mocking Luca there as well. All right? Eight seven seven three d P show Email address DP at Dan Patrick dot com, Twitter handle a DP show. We'll talk to Chris Mannox coming up top of the hour, not only on the playoffs, James Harden's future in Philadelphia, and also the Lakers situation because Mike Brown goes to the Kings. Mark Jackson is still there and reports have the Lakers looking at a veteran coach, which makes sense. I don't think you're going to bring in some young kid, young guy, and these veterans are going to listen to him. But I think you got to find the voice that you want to listen to within the organization. That's the most important part. You got too many voices. You know, it's a democracy until it's a dictatorship. Like I can listen and then all of a sudden, I have to decide if I'm Genie buzz. You can have magic in there, you can fill in there, you can have the Rambus, you can have everybody in there. But it's too many voices there, and at some point somebody's got to say, Genie, why don't you go make a decision here? Or if you're going to hire a fill Jackson, then let film make the decision, like somebody has to take ownership of this. And are you waiting for a coach? Are you waiting for Doc Rivers? Are you waiting for Quinn Snyder? Are those the right coaches for you? Or maybe Mark Jackson? Because Mark Jackson's no nonsense And I don't know if no nonsense is the right person for that job, because it feels like you gotta be a little adaptable there with Russell Westbrook certainly at the whims of Lebron James. But I don't I don't know if there's an ideal candidate for that job. But we'll talk to Mannix about that, and also talk to Andrew Marshawn New York Post. He had the news on Tom Brady going to Fox, and I think Fox is gonna They're gonna get their billions out of Tom Brady. I really believe that, because they're going to use him in a variety of ways. Just imagine if you're an advertiser and I do this. You know, I'm going to New York next week to meet with the folks from Steeple Financial Advisors, going to dinner. You know, we have people up here at the Man Cave, the people with Michael Jordan's tequilas and Koro came up. You know, you just make yourself available. Obviously, I'm you know, on a smaller playing field, but you're able to meet with the advertisers simply safe or link soul, go to dinner with them. This is what Tom is going to have to do for forty million dollars a year. Tom, we need you to do this. Tom. You're gonna be at the Kentucky Derby. We're gonna bring some clients over. Hey, Tom, we need you to go play golf. We got some clients here. Hey, would you be on this show Tom guest appearance? It's not just football, It's this is just we're hiring Tom Brady. Yeah, Paul, if you were Fox, and this might be obvious, would you also kick the tires on Gronk as a package deal and maybe Gronk does a second screen show for Fox. Like the Mannings are fun, but imagine a Grock show as in conjunction with Fox's Sunday coverage. They're kind of married at the hip, these two guys, Brady and Rocking. It seems like a perfect guy to hire for somebody if they were together. I don't. I don't want Gronk's second screen Well, maybe with someone else like Edelman. I don't know, maybe a combo of them. Just I don't want Gronk as my sideline reporter because no, no, no, he can't do that. I mean I do, but I don't. But I don't if I'm paying that kind of money for Brady, I don't want to take away. You know, that's what's interesting now about the Mothership, because they didn't care if you weren't watching the regular broadcast and you were watching the Manning cast because they're gonna get ratings, and they didn't care if they hurt anybody's feelings on the regular broadcast. Now you got Joe and Troy spent a lot of money, and now you have the Manning cast as well, and you know, do they fight each other, compete with each other? Far more than they did before. But if I'm Fox, I'm being like, no, Tom, go in there. Whenever you're going to retire, and we hope there's a lot of eyeballs on you. We'll take a break. I saw this story where yesterday in Palm Beach Palm Beach International Airport, there's video of an emergency landing. Air traffic controller received a call radio call, not from the pilot of the plane, from the passenger and then the passenger said, I got a serious situation my pilot has gone incoherent. I have no idea how to fly the airplane. So the tower operator said, you know what's your position? Passenger responded, he said, I can see the coast of Florida in front of me, and I have no idea. The operator then said, look, maintain wings level. Just try to follow the code either north or southbound. We're trying to locate you. They did twenty five miles from the airport. Somehow the air traffic controller gave the instructions to the passenger to land the plane safely, which he was able to do. I'm reading more about the story. It's one of the more modern, newer single engine planes, so it's a lot of computer technology, and the gentleman who took control the plane couldn't even figure out how to turn on certain screens as they're trying to walk them through this, so it wasn't like the old time, just turning it. Most of those planes, the new planes, though, can't they land themselves? They fly themselves, but can they land themselves? And the story it says there are things you could put on for autopilot to get you near an airport, but not land. Oh, you can get you know you could put in coordinets to get you near the airport you're going for. Let's say you couldn't see. Yeah, that'd be one of those where you go, oh, we're you know, we're heading into land. We're descending here, and you just you know that bump is going to be a little bit bigger than what it would normally be and then you hit the brakes and hold on for dear life. Yeah. See, yeah, that's the thing. Like, once you land, then you have to hit the brakes. That seems like just as crazy a process as landing. And when do you throw the brakes on because it feels like, you know, I mean that everything reverses. It's like, yes, this does seem like a story where it should be a two parter where the air traffic controller also gets equal billing. On this story, the air traffic controller ran into the back, found the plans for the airplane so he could see it, and told the guy, reach your hand out here, and here's where it is. The air traffic callers like, it's like the catcher for a no hitter. He's got to get some pub Well, if we can find his name, then I'll be happy to get complicity there. Okay, what's more impressive the passenger who's never flown a plane or the air traffic controller trying to help the passenger who's never flown a plane. Yes, mar the path I really don't think that's close. Yes, time, and how does that communication work? Like the movie Airplanes, like you whisper, look passengers, does anybody know how to fly a plane? You have to quickly figure out who if this group gives us the best chance of not crashing, that can somehow figure I don't know if there's just one person. There was the pilot and the passenger. I don't know if there are other people on board. I don't think it was a you know, a jetliner you can't go to like eighteen D because of retired pilot in thirty four have him come up? Yes, that that's a topper story. Man, you're you're at a bar with people. I mean that guy chat with that the guy landing the Hudson, he's all Sully, Yeah, that's an all timer, but this guy is that's a pretty good bar. Yeah, but how often do you think Sully tells the story of he landed in the Hudson per day? Yeah, what's his second best story. Yeah, you know, like he got his lawn back from you. Yeah, nearly lost it due to that route. Man, Sully, you're incredible. Let me hell you another story. I got a story for you. I landed a plane and the Hudson River. I saved hundreds of people, all right, SULLI, Okay, you don't what I wonder. I can't do it, but you know, like you save um, what is it, Geico? I saved whatever? Like Sully could say, hey, I saved hundreds of limes. You know, the only person who saves more is Geico. Maybe you can't, you know, have that kind of attitude with something that serious. But you know, Sully, I'm sure they have the barbecue and then like here comes Sully. Let's let's hear the oh, I landed a plane in the Hudson Thanks, hey, Tim, Tim got a promotion of work. Great, Sally, what you've been doing lately? Nothing lately, but do you yeah? Yes, time. Well, the ladies are gathered around the campfire, like the cup one guy that knows how to sing and plays the guitar, and they just ignoring everybody else. He's just totally taking command of the part. Yeah, like you know when you you sit there and you have your hands underneath your chin and you're just listening to somebody's every words, and you're like, Sully, tell us the story again about landing the plane in the Hudson. Okay, my husband could burp the alphabet on the end of the spectrum. Age seven seventh three d P show email address DP at dan Patrick dot com and our Twitter handle at DP show. We're back after this Dan Patrick Show. Update the pole results Seaton from the first hour, well, Dan, from the first hour, we went with what was maybe a little more controversial than I should have.
