Following a life-changing medical emergency in 2005, Henk began reconsidering what he wanted to accomplish with the rest of his life. That experience led him to establish Blue Planet Foundation and pursue a mission to end the use of carbon-based fuels, starting in Hawaii.
His work helped build support for Hawaii's landmark commitment to achieve 100% renewable electricity by 2045. Today, his initiatives extend into energy storage, entrepreneurship, international renewable energy collaboration and even the technologies needed to sustain human life beyond Earth.
