But when AI is involved in decisions that can determine whether someone can buy a home, access capital, or grow a business, speed and efficiency cannot be the only goals.

Tamara founded MPWR to address a growing disconnect between traditional lending models and today's workforce.
Millions of people now earn income through entrepreneurship, freelancing, fractional leadership, gig work, multiple jobs, and the creator economy. Yet many lending systems still evaluate borrowers using models built around traditional W-2 employment and static credit histories.
MPWR is building policy-bound AI infrastructure that helps lenders organize and analyze more complete borrower information while deliberately keeping human judgment in the loop.
In this episode, Tamara and I discuss how AI can help financial institutions understand modern borrowers more accurately, why some data should never be exposed to AI systems, how regulation can actually encourage innovation, and why AI should assist consequential financial decisions rather than make them independently.
