This week, Matt, Ryan, and Stephen continue our American Summer series with Episode 209: SSMT — Our Shenandoah Summers.
For all three of us, summer and Shenandoah Summer Music Theatre are forever intertwined.
Across many years, we each found our way to Winchester, Virginia, and the stage at Shenandoah—performing, working, learning, laughing, and becoming part of a summer theatre tradition that helped shape who we were as artists and people.
From Fiddler on the Roof, Hello, Dolly!, Damn Yankees, State Fair, The Wizard of Oz, Footloose, Oliver! and many, many more, SSMT gave us summers filled with music, rehearsals, performances, friendships, backstage adventures, and memories that have lasted long after the final curtain came down.
In this episode, the three of us look back at our shared history with SSMT: the shows we remember, the people we worked alongside, the experiences that still make us laugh, and what it was like spending those formative summers immersed in musical theatre.
There was something extraordinary about being young, spending an entire summer making theatre, and knowing that tomorrow you got to wake up and do it all over again.
For us, SSMT wasn’t simply a place where we performed. It was part of growing up.
So join Matt, Ryan, and Stephen as we head back to Winchester and revisit the shows, stories, friendships, and unforgettable summers we spent at Shenandoah Summer Music Theatre.
