UVU's Security Errors + The Hegseth Impeachment?

00:00:03
Speaker 1: My name is Charlie Kirk.
00:00:05
Speaker 2: I run the largest pro-American student organization in the country fighting for the future of our republic. My call is to fight evil and to proclaim truth. If the most important thing for you is just feeling good, you're going to end up miserable. But if the most important thing is doing good, you will end up purposeful. College is a scam, everybody. You got to stop sending your kids to college.
00:00:27
Speaker 1: You should get married as.
00:00:28
Speaker 2: Young as possible and have as many kids as possible. Go start a Turning Point USA college chapter. Go start a Turning Point USA high school chapter. Go find out how your church can get involved.
00:00:37
Speaker 3: Sign up and become an activist.
00:00:39
Speaker 2: I gave my life to the Lord in fifth grade. Most important decision I ever made in my life, and I encourage you to do the same.
00:00:45
Speaker 3: Here I am. Lord, use me. Buckle up, everybody. Here we go.

00:01:17
Speaker 1: All right. Welcome, everybody.
00:01:19
Speaker 4: It is September 16th, 2026.
00:01:21
Speaker 1: Blake is back in studio. Howdy, Blake.
00:01:23
Speaker 5: The Green Bay Packers tried to make me so depressed I could never come back.
00:01:27
Speaker 1: But I did. You're back. I've overcome.
00:01:29
Speaker 4: You're back and you're better than ever. So here's we've got a big packed show today.
00:01:36
Speaker 1: All right.
00:01:36
Speaker 4: So I want to just kind of lay out the state of play and how we plan to get through it.
00:01:40
Speaker 6: Yes.
00:01:41
Speaker 4: The big breaking news this morning is that the Kirk family has filed a notice of claim.
00:01:45
Speaker 6: What?
00:01:46
Speaker 4: That's not a lawsuit, but it's a notice of intent to file one. And it sort of extends the statute of limitations. We're going to get into all of that at about. the halfway mark of this hour, okay? So we're obviously, I've been dealing with it all morning, I've been doing interviews, and we will explain everything that is in that document, everything that is laid out there, some of the security failures that happened at UVU and why that is moving forward, but we're going to get to it at the 1230 mark, East Coast, okay? So hang with us right there. We've got a great expert that's going to be coming on who understands crowd control, that understands security at large events. So we're going to get there in just a minute, in a couple minutes. But first, we're going to get to, and I think this is really important, because the news broke while we were on the air yesterday, and that is that Thomas Massey has filed articles of impeachment against Secretary of War Pete Hegseth. Now, this caught all of us off guard yesterday. We didn't really know what to make of it, but we now know more. We have more information. And it's kind of what you might expect from a libertarian-leaning person like Thomas Massey. Now, he lost his primary. He's on his way out. Obviously, he's making what he feels is the most of his time here. Okay, so what is he alleging that Pete Hegseth has done? So Massey is accusing Hegseth of deliberately killing civilians... Now, you might remember when the first strikes in Iran happened, there was an Iranian school that was hit. A bunch of kids died. Terrible tragedy. So he's accusing Hegseth of deliberately killing civilians in that strike. He's accusing Hegseth of extrajudicial killings. And this is related to the Venezuelan narco boat blowing those up. So that's another thing. By the way, you had an interesting note. You were very skeptical of that whole thing because you were worried we were going to get some fishermen.
00:03:49
Speaker 5: I was skeptical of that because I just felt even if you think it's great to blow up drug smugglers, it felt like the situation where it was a matter of time until we'd inevitably blow up the wrong boat. And I just feel like we've never actually had that case where it just turned out, oh, this was obviously just a fishing boat and was destroyed.
00:04:06
Speaker 1: So I will give them credit that we haven't had that story.
00:04:09
Speaker 4: It sounds like a lot of the drug smuggling activity ceased once they started blowing those up.
00:04:14
Speaker 1: Fentanyl deaths are down about 50%. Yeah. Huge, huge. So he's accusing him of extrajudicial killings. Okay.
00:04:22
Speaker 4: He's accusing Hegseth of suppressing free speech by investigating Democrats like Mark Kelly, who I believe were trying to foment insurrection in the armed forces, telling them to disobey unlawful orders.
00:04:36
Speaker 1: Okay.
00:04:36
Speaker 4: But what is unlawful orders? who's going to determine that.
00:04:41
Speaker 1: Okay.
00:04:41
Speaker 4: They were trying to foment, uh, absolutely foment, uh, insurrection in the military. In my opinion, he was right to hold Mark Kelly accountable. And finally, Massey accuses Hegseth of kidnapping. Who did he kidnap? Nicholas Maduro. He accuses of kidnapping Nicholas Maduro and bringing him to the U S to stand trial. Uh, you know, what's interesting about this is I've talked to a bunch of libertarians, small L and Even they admit that the operation in Venezuela was.
00:05:13
Speaker 5: It was the lightest touch military operation that we've basically ever done.
00:05:17
Speaker 4: Now, Venezuela was becoming a playground for the CCP, for Iran, for Cuba.
00:05:21
Speaker 1: For Russia. Probably some of those drug smuggling boats. Yeah, exactly.
00:05:26
Speaker 4: They got them out. Venezuela, for all intents and purposes, is doing.
00:05:31
Speaker 1: Well. It's now a U.S. ally.
00:05:33
Speaker 5: We took the second most adamantly anti-American government in the Americas... And made it a pro-American one, removed a bad dude, did it with the lightest touch possible. I mean, you could say that led us into the Iran stuff, and that's been tougher, and that would be a negative effect. But the Iran incident, the Venezuela incident itself seems perfect.
00:05:55
Speaker 4: No, that's what I'm saying. The most anti-interventionist crowd, of which I would include myself.
00:06:00
Speaker 1: We were really worried about that. And then it happened, and we said, oh. Well, yeah, exactly.
00:06:04
Speaker 4: People want to accuse us of being like so pro war.
00:06:07
Speaker 1: No, we are. Our approach is to the best of our ability.
00:06:10
Speaker 4: Exactly what we believe Charlie would do, which was, hey, warn against invading foreign lands and foreign interventions. But also have the back of the president when he makes a tough decision. OK, obviously, I have voiced my concerns about Iran on this show, as many of you know, multiple times. However, Venezuela, even if you are in that camp, is widely regarded as a well-executed, morally defensible operation. And by the way, it's kind of the Western Hemispheric dominance. We're getting back to that. So I think it's really important. I want to play some clips for you. And I want to hear from you, by the way. What do you guys think about Massey and this impeachment effort against Pete Hegseth? Freedom at CharlieKirk.com. I want to hear your thoughts, okay? Send us what you think. Freedom at CharlieKirk.com. Blake's going to read them in the next segment. Here's CK praising Pete Hegseth. And I will tell you, and Blake will attest, Charlie loved Pete dearly, and they were close friends. And when it came to his confirmation battle, there was no louder voice on the internet or on social media or on broadcast airwaves than Charlie Kirk.
00:07:21
Speaker 1: Stop five.
00:07:22
Speaker 2: Pete Hegseth is a great man. Pete Hegseth has honorably served his country. And Pete Hegseth right now is victim to a media smear job to try to destroy his character and try to remove him from the nomination for Secretary of Defense. Now some people say, but Charlie, he doesn't have the experience, you know, running a big organization.
00:07:42
Speaker 7: Hold on a second.
00:07:43
Speaker 2: He's actually served in the front lines of the department that he is going to have to run. Pete Hegseth has served his country with incredible bravery and courage. This is nothing compared to what he had to face on the front lines fighting for America. However, the media is doing their best to try and be the fourth estate.
00:08:07
Speaker 4: Remember when Charlie came out and said, Pete's the red line? If you stand against Pete, remember that Joni Ernst was, you know, there was some back and forth there. And he said, if you stand against Pete, that's the red line. We will actually move to primary you, Republicans.
00:08:21
Speaker 5: Charlie was just such a believer in, guys, you won this election because people were electing Donald Trump as president. They weren't electing random Republican senators who immediately have a 10 percent approval rating.
00:08:32
Speaker 6: Yes.
00:08:33
Speaker 1: Donald Trump has the right to appoint his people to do what he ran on doing.
00:08:38
Speaker 4: Yeah.
00:08:38
Speaker 8: Yeah.
00:08:38
Speaker 1: He stood by that, too. Charlie goes on.
00:08:41
Speaker 4: We have a bunch of these clips, by the way.
00:08:44
Speaker 2: These Republican senators need to stand up and be counted. And if you are going to oppose Pete Hegseth, then we want to know your names and your states because we'll be visiting a neighborhood near you. If you're from Arkansas, if you're from Kansas, if you're from South Dakota, if you're from Idaho and you're against Pete Hegseth, You're going to have to defend that to your voters. You see, the American people did not vote for old bull Senate Republicans to get in the way of President Trump's mandate.
00:09:18
Speaker 1: Well said.
00:09:19
Speaker 4: So we want to know what you think. Send us your emails. Freedom at Charlie Kirk dot com. Freedom at Charlie Kirk dot com. I will tell you, this one caught me completely out of left field. And I just think it's egregious.
00:09:30
Speaker 5: I don't think it caught me out of left field just because I think Matt Forney said it well. The end stage of being based and anti-Trump is you become a resistance wine mom.
00:09:40
Speaker 1: So get this.
00:09:41
Speaker 6: All right.
00:09:42
Speaker 4: So I just, I grokked it, you know, and I said, has recruitment improved in the U.S. military since Pete Hegseth took over as SecDef? And it goes, recruitment has improved markedly. That's pretty good for for an ai uh so the army hit 101.7 percent navy hit 108 percent air force over 100 percent space force 103 percent marine corps hit their mark now that was in 2025 in 2026 all five active duty branches hit or exceeded their goals months earlier all ahead of schedule As of mid-2026 reporting, the Army signed more than 61,500 contracts against a $ 61, 000 goal that was announced in May. Navy reached its raised 45,000.
00:10:27
Speaker 1: Goal in late June.
00:10:29
Speaker 4: Air Force and Space Force hit theirs in April. Marine Corps also hit its 26,600 Marines target.
00:10:38
Speaker 1: All way ahead of schedule. Pretty remarkable. Okay, we got emails.
00:10:41
Speaker 5: Oh, we got a mountain of them. I can't even read all of them. People sent in so many, but let's get a few. santa says massey is a little 12 year old scorned girl and he doesn't deserve enough and he doesn't get enough credit for that aspect please for the love of america be the first to give him that credit make temper tantrums great again mark says this impeachment attempt is unfortunately the next in a pattern of poor decisions massey has made since his wife died he's it's like he lost his governor when he lost her i used to really like.
00:11:12
Speaker 4: Him and by the way i mean You know, my heart goes out to him.
00:11:14
Speaker 1: Of course. Losing his wife.
00:11:16
Speaker 4: I mean, that's off limits.
00:11:18
Speaker 1: That's off limits. Well, we're not even attacking him. It just does unfortunately. Sure, sure, sure.
00:11:23
Speaker 5: Jolene says, my personal opinion is that this impeachment attempt shows his true colors. Massey is a jaded child who is now throwing a tantrum because he was fired. He is acting just like the people he vacationed with after his defeat. Huge Charlie fan and want to thank you all for having Erica's back. Eric says Massey is a brat who is taking his ball and going home due to his complete opposition to Trump's agenda the people sent him packing Jennifer says Thomas Massey is a lame rat Pete says Jim says Pete is doing a great job Massey is jealous because he's out of here and.
00:12:02
Speaker 4: That's about it this is SOT7 we'll take a quick breather from the emails this is Charlie reiterating that email.
00:12:09
Speaker 2: SOT7 First of all, Pete, you're doing a phenomenal job. I just want to say that from the American people that you don't get the credit that you deserve, obviously, in the mainstream media. You're running the world's largest and greatest military.
00:12:21
Speaker 4: Yeah, this is from Matt Gates, by the way, 170. And, you know, Matt is kind of an independent arbiter here. He goes, Maga Grifter here. I'll defend Sec War. I spent eight years on the Armed Services Committee. I watched Biden and Austin turn our military into drag queen theater. I saw them punish red states and move military missions over abortion laws. They abandoned hundreds of our troops in Niger and failed to advance meaningful new technologies. SecHeadset isn't perfect. His press briefings are often melodramatic and overwrought. He didn't inherit a perfect institution to run either. But he has reordered the culture of our military in profoundly positive ways. He got rid of race-based promotion. He insisted on physical standards. He prioritized patriotism and recruitment. He's actually shifted money away from failing legacy systems to more modernized, autonomous offense and defense.
00:13:11
Speaker 1: Rep.
00:13:12
Speaker 4: Massey, I know you disagree with Trump-Hegsteth on the Iran war. The debates we are having on foreign policy are important, and I too found it strange that Hegsteth went to Kentucky to personally campaign against you as our troops were in combat in harm's way. But impeachment is the wrong tool to pursue your objectives. Impeachment should not arise from policy disagreements or squabbles over competence.
00:13:32
Speaker 1: Good for him. In the meantime, Larry said, Massey is just being a bad word hole.
00:13:36
Speaker 5: I really appreciate Hegseth for what he is doing and what he has done.
00:13:41
Speaker 1: God bless him. These lunatic losers.
00:13:43
Speaker 5: Need to be removed immediately from office. I've been looking to see if we got anyone pushing near the line because it'd be fine if someone disagreed, but it does seem pretty uniform within our emails.
00:13:54
Speaker 3: Got it.
00:13:54
Speaker 6: All right.
00:13:54
Speaker 1: Fair enough.
00:13:56
Speaker 4: Yeah, I mean, listen, I find it to be really objectionable right, that this would be coming from our own side. Speaker Johnson's against it. And listen, I have a lot of compassion for people that are anti-war, anti-interventionists, and they're trying to get their message across. And I sympathize with that position. Blake and I both sympathize with that. We are very anti-foreign interventionists, especially in the Middle East. But, you know, we feel duty-bound to continue Charlie's rhythm on this, right? Because Charlie would quietly... work behind the scenes to advance what he believed was right. And in the case of Iran, he did not want to see us go into Iran. But when President Trump made the decision at Midnight Hammer, Charlie said, I trust that the person that we worked our tails off to get elected, that he's going to make the tough decisions and he's going to do it. We got to trust him and have his back.
00:14:50
Speaker 5: And especially he wouldn't crash out and demand the entire administration be eliminated so that we can have some far left Democrat reopen the border, bring back DEI. undo the huge amount of progress that we've made in so many different domains of america and that we're continuing to do we set another record for uh ice arrests in august yep every month great things are happening and what's especially impressive is they're happening where news cameras aren't always watching you have to go to niche x accounts that are aggressively tracking all the ice numbers because good news is just pouring.
00:15:24
Speaker 4: In there listen I totally agree. And we do have a problem with some of these guys like Massey. His constituency is younger and we need to reach out to them. We need to assure them that, hey, we have a domestic agenda that is robust and it is compelling. So that is a that is a very fair point. And I think the administration had missed the mark on some of those. Obviously, if you look at the polling, that's certainly true. And we miss Charlie's presence on these college campuses going out and arguing and advocating for our worldview.
00:15:53
Speaker 1: You can feel that. Right.
00:15:55
Speaker 4: But that doesn't mean, to Blake's point, that you turn into a horseshoe person and you go find common cause with the pro-abortionists that want to abort your child up to the point of birth, even after birth. Some of these states, you know, they've eliminated prosecuting moms with their child dies within the first year in some of these places. They won't even pursue prosecution. It's like Lindsey Clancy on steroids. This is happening all over the place. I'm not going to go find common cause with the open borders lobby that wants to throw up in the borders and replace the body politic in this country to get a compliant, dependent underclass that will vote for them.
00:16:30
Speaker 1: I'm not going to do it.
00:16:32
Speaker 4: I'm not going to go with the anti-white group that hate white people just to hate them. I'm not going to go with the anti-Christian group that hates Christians, that advocates against Christian freedoms. So even, here's my other point. So the horseshoe people like to say, well, it doesn't matter if we vote left or right, Republican or Democrat, because we still get foreign wars. okay let's just concede the point i don't agree with that at all but let's just concede the point for one second okay so if you get foreign wars then you're making my point that it's still better to vote for the republican because you get different domestic policies you get closed borders you get meritocracy instead of dei you get pro-life policies you get the smallest federal government since 1966 you get the lowest death and murder rate since 1900 per capita All of these things made possible by the Trump administration. So, yeah, things are not perfect. We are a coalition. You're not going to be happy with everything. But hopefully, cooler heads will prevail, and we will say this is obviously the better route for the country.
00:17:37
Speaker 1: Charlie believes. If you're looking at.
00:17:41
Speaker 4: Your investment portfolio and feeling pretty smart right now, remember, a bull market can make anyone look like a genius. If you've had a good run, the question is whether you keep it. I'm going to play this clip just to start us off because it kind of sets the table, and this was from some of what you did with News Nation here.
00:18:59
Speaker 1: Stop four.
00:19:00
Speaker 6: Charlie Kirk's family says Utah Valley University, campus police, and others did not properly address security concerns leading up to his assassination, despite multiple warnings. One Turning Point USA member even raised concerns about the roof where Kirk's alleged assassin shot him from.
00:19:17
Speaker 9: Notice of claim sent to the university from Erica's lawyers with a shocking accusation that before the event, a member of Turning Point USA texted the police chief Hello, Chief Long. We received this message today from the student group. There is student roof access pretty close to where Charlie Kirk will be set up at Utah Valley. If this is true, it would be nice to either have it controlled access or allow one of my guys to be there as well, if possible.
00:19:43
Speaker 7: Chief Long responded, I got you covered.
00:19:47
Speaker 8: It's not just a big mistake. It's a catastrophic mistake.
00:19:50
Speaker 4: So that was your take on, I guess it was a brief snippet, but I thought it was a really powerful line.
00:19:56
Speaker 1: So why don't you break this down for us?
00:19:58
Speaker 4: You've experienced crowd control, securing venues, securing large venues. When you read this notice of claim, what is your immediate reaction?
00:20:08
Speaker 8: Well, thank you so much for having me. To be completely honest with you, I was shocked by the lack of security and lack of planning, to be completely frank with you. The fact that there was no threat assessment really done beforehand, no meeting by UVU PD beforehand is actually shocking. That's not normal protocol. Now, listen, different police departments differ in terms of their their protocol, but at a very minimum, everyone is meeting together to discuss the risk. And had they met together to discuss the risk, part of me wonders if they would have moved this to a different venue so that it wasn't that, I guess, fishbowl situation, which was outlined in the documents that I've said on NewsNation before, that this was a very dangerous situation, in my opinion. And I also think, too, this sheds a lot of light on the fact that There's been a lot of discussion that, you know, Charlie's security details should have done more. They were doing more. They were asking the right questions. They were saying that they had heard that there were vulnerabilities on that rooftop. And they even offered, per that text message, to put one of their own team members there. But they were basically told, we've got this covered, so I don't think they felt that there was a need to. And then they could shift their focus to that close-in security that they were providing.
00:21:26
Speaker 4: Yeah, so to that point, so I think this is what a lot of people are keying in on the most. So TPOSA official, the security, texted, Hello, Chief Long. We received this message today from the student group. He said, quote, There is student roof access pretty close to where Charlie will be set up at Utah Valley. And said, It would be nice to either have it controlled access or allow one of my guys to be up there as well, if possible. Chief Long texted, I got you covered.
00:21:56
Speaker 10: Which.
00:21:57
Speaker 4: Obviously, we know was not the case. And I think maybe it's worth taking a quick step back here. So this is a notice of claim. It's not a lawsuit, but they filed it. The Kirk family filed it.
00:22:08
Speaker 1: On nine nine.
00:22:09
Speaker 4: And so one day before the one year and we're just kind of hearing about it now. And what it does is it sort of extends the statute of limitations and sort of prepares, you know, the parties involved that, hey, you know, there is a claim being put together here. And so they've been notified. The university has been notified. They but there's more details here.
00:22:31
Speaker 1: Right.
00:22:31
Speaker 4: About basically the the the major thrust of this document is that this death was preventable. Would you agree with that assessment? I mean, because I think there is two there's tension here.
00:22:44
Speaker 1: Right.
00:22:44
Speaker 4: There is the fact that we want to keep having events at college campuses.
00:22:48
Speaker 1: We want to be able to do this.
00:22:49
Speaker 4: And I believe that those can be done safely. I don't think that anybody's expecting universities to do extraordinary measures. We're basically saying the basic blocking and tackling of making sure rooftops are covered, monitoring CCTV, making sure access control at certain points is, you know, accounted for. Do you think that reading this document that the assessment is correct that this was preventable?
00:23:13
Speaker 8: So I'll just be blunt. Yes, I do believe in reading this document that it was preventable because, as I said before, and as you mentioned to me, things at the very basic level. And these are things that don't necessarily incur a cost, if that makes any sense. Having Orem or Provo PD there would incur a cost that is usually offset by the group that's there. But these are things, just securing scenes, putting officers there, monitoring that CCTV footage, all of that is within the purview of that police department. And I think had they had that initial meeting, whether it was just days or weeks beforehand, I do think, in my opinion, that really this death could have been preventable. Because essentially, if you have a situation where you had Charlie surrounded by all of these tall buildings, it really, if you don't secure them, that was probably the number one thing that needed to be secured. I know that there is mention of controlled access points and controlled entrance and egress of sidewalks and things of that nature. Yes, obviously you need to secure that perimeter, but issue number one should have been the tops of those buildings. And I do think his death was preventable.
00:24:22
Speaker 6: Yeah.
00:24:22
Speaker 4: I mean, I think it's, it's just such a gut punch reading this document. It was infuriating, enraging. I don't attribute malice to these guys. I think it was a small town provincial kind of thinking that that these kind of things don't happen here. I mean, that's my read on it, but I think that's why we have to pursue... I mean, well, like we've.
00:24:43
Speaker 5: Said, it's the biggest political assassination in the U.S. in over half a century. Can you think of a comparable event on a college campus?
00:24:53
Speaker 1: I can't.
00:24:53
Speaker 5: You think of Antifa goons smashing windows or setting fires, but.
00:24:58
Speaker 4: Well, here's some of the other details in the document. I'm sure people are curious.
00:25:04
Speaker 1: So.
00:25:04
Speaker 4: We also know now that there was only six PD on site that day. So Charlie's own detail was much bigger than theirs. Only the university had lawful authority to control the perimeter of that site. You mentioned people have made the comment, why didn't Charlie's detail do more? Well, they were only able to be responsible for the bubble around Charlie's person.
00:25:30
Speaker 1: So that's 20 to 30 feet. They can't arrest someone.
00:25:33
Speaker 3: They're not cops.
00:25:34
Speaker 4: Yeah, their job is to defend and make sure there's safety in that bubble. So they can't control ingress and egress, as you mentioned. They can't control rooftop access. Technically, they're not even lawfully able to stop somebody in that situation if somebody's going up. Now, they might choose to do it. That's why I think they were offering to put bodies up there. Nevertheless, that is the purview of the university. Another thing that was interesting is there was no drones, and we find out that they don't have a drone program at the campus PD, but nearby Orem did. And I've been told that they were expecting a phone call that never happened. So that's extraordinarily infuriating as well. So just point after point after point where you're going, it just feels like basic stuff, especially within a year, just barely over a year after what we saw at Butler, Pennsylvania.
00:26:25
Speaker 8: You're absolutely right. And I actually said that about Butler, Pennsylvania, how why were no drones deployed in that situation as well? That is the easiest way. I flew drones when I was at the CIA to really look through these sites, right, without using actual manpower. And Orem PD has those available. Really, most PDs do. And to your point about these college PDs, I actually worked at a university and most public universities, the ratio of police to students is about one to five hundred. The one at UVU was 1 to 1,500. So they were woefully understaffed per, I guess, that national norm, if you will. And they had to have known that. That's what's surprising to me. And that's why I'm even more concerned and surprised by the fact that they wouldn't have reached out to local law enforcement. Again, I understand that there's a cost associated with that. But most departments who bring these groups onto campus know that there's a cost associated with.
00:27:24
Speaker 1: That and prepare for it.
00:27:25
Speaker 4: We've dealt with that many, many times at Turning Point. I'm not directly involved. I just want to be very clear. I'm not like an expert on security. I didn't, you know, I wasn't involved in the weeds. I'm learning some of this stuff after the fact. For example, one of the things I'm learning is that that rooftop was well known to local officials to be a place where students hung out and did people watching. They would find beer bottles in Other types of garbage up there, they knew that that was a point of vulnerability. So if you know that that's a point of vulnerability, that people can access that rooftop so easily, why was it left unguarded when you said you had the rooftops handled?
00:28:02
Speaker 5: And it occurs to me, as we learned during the hearing, that it looks like Tyler Robinson was on that roof for a few minutes getting ready there. It wasn't a quick bolt up, do it and get out. That if you'd had someone even making a rounds, they might have spotted him.
00:28:17
Speaker 6: Yeah.
00:28:18
Speaker 4: Yeah, it's hard because we're doing a show here, and we're trying to get the information out, and it's hard not to get emotional when you think about the fact that, you know, had just one, maybe, of these different, you know, things that could have been done if they were just acted upon. Basic stuff. And that's what I keep saying. This is not an indictment of campus events. This is not saying that it's always too dangerous to do this type of thing. I actually don't want to live in that world. I want us to be able to keep doing it. And by the way, the universities would love to have that. We can't let that be the case. This is basic stuff. This is not extraordinary measures. And to your point, most of this would not have cost the university anything extra. And I just want to say one last thing, is that Chief Long did ask the university for extra resources. And apparently that request was turned down. So at least we know that much in his defense there. So what do you think? Let's do a glass half full operation here in our minds. What would you like to see come out of this? Because my hope is that universities will take this and approach security, especially for conservative events, candidly, because I think there's more threats facing conservatives these days, but for everybody. Hopefully this benefits all people, that they will use this to improve security for all students. Is that your hope as well? Or what are some other outcomes that we could see here?
00:29:45
Speaker 8: Well, I think that that's such a good question because you're so right. We need to continue freedom of speech on campuses and these events need to continue to go on in a safe manner. There's no question about that. I think one of the things that I hope comes out of this, but I know some people don't like that, is uniform security standards at a bare minimum, almost a checklist that universities need, whether they're public or private, that are agreed upon. There are groups that do get together and discuss these things. But if they could all get on the same page in terms of what is the most basic things that are required to keep an individual or individuals who are on that campus safe, reasonably safe, I think would be a great thing to come out of this. I also think another thing, and this is something that I actually brought up in Butler when that happened with President Trump, is the idea of better intelligence sharing. Because what you had mentioned before about, to any point, having that information about the roof being vulnerable, who knows how that was ultimately shared and who that was shared with. And that's obviously a very critical piece of intelligence. And sometimes, as someone who's been on the intelligence side and the law enforcement side, that can get sort of mixed up and isn't shared properly. And so I think streamlining that and having those basic standards across the board would be very beneficial.
00:31:09
Speaker 4: You got me thinking about something that I haven't thought for a while, but I remember in the immediate aftermath, I thought to myself, why do we even have campus PD? Why is it not a better funded local PD that just has a you know, a group that works the campus, right? Is there a benefit to having campus PD be its own sort of PD as opposed to, in this case, Orem? Orem could have just had a campus division, right? Maybe they would have had more resources, would have had the drones.
00:31:37
Speaker 8: I think the answer to that, sorry to be kind of vague, is it depends. So I think some schools, Some schools, yes, they do actually use their local PD and don't have a campus PD. But let's use my alma mater, right, as an example of that. So I went to USC, University of Southern California. It would have been a massive strain on LAPD, particularly in that area, to also be providing the security at the school, which is why USC does have its very own and very capable police force. So in some situations, it actually is beneficial, particularly in large urban areas where to have that school PD. It is actually a good thing and it's beneficial, but that's not obviously always the case.
00:32:19
Speaker 1: Yeah, I think that's fair.
00:32:21
Speaker 4: It kind of strikes me though, like with UVU, Orem PD is, by all accounts, everything that I've heard at least, and again, I'm a lay person here, I'm just outside looking in, but it does seem to be more capable and to be better resourced and better financed.
00:32:34
Speaker 1: You mentioned those ratios of- It's Utah. It's usually a pretty safe place. Yeah, it's usually a pretty safe place.
00:32:38
Speaker 4: And I do think that's, Really what's behind a lot of this is that people in Utah kind of thought stuff.
00:32:44
Speaker 1: Like this doesn't happen here. Yeah. Stuff like this doesn't happen here. Yeah. I think that's interesting.
00:32:50
Speaker 4: The, the, the other question though, is you talk about information sharing, you know, we have made a lot on about on this show that there did seem to be at least threats made on social media. There seemed to be some sort of prior knowledge or at least, you know, who knows, but people seem to indicate that, And maybe that was just people saying stuff on social media, right? People say all kinds of crazy stuff. But that's been something that's bothered me a lot, you know, in the months since this happened. Is that kind of what you're talking about with information and intelligence sharing? That kind of stuff could be streamlined with a campus PD?
00:33:27
Speaker 8: So that's a good question. Thank you for asking for the clarification. Yes and no. I think there's internal threats, right, like to the school, areas that are vulnerable, students that are a problem. So that information needs to be shared as well as those outer threats that you mentioned, like threats on Discord, threats on social media. That needs to be shared too. And sometimes, to your point about having that local PD as well as school PD, the two of them don't necessarily talk because they really have different interests, right, and different things that they're protecting. And so that information, in my opinion, needs to be streamlined because this doesn't exist in a bubble.
00:34:04
Speaker 4: Right.
00:34:05
Speaker 8: You have to these individuals who are coming to these universities wishing to do harm are going through many different jurisdictions to be able to do that. And so if they're not talking to each other, you have a blind spot.
00:34:16
Speaker 4: Well, that does kind of remind me of Butler, where it was like different groups were on different communication platforms or whatever. They weren't talking, which is just wild when it comes to the president of the United States. let alone a campus event like this.
00:34:30
Speaker 1: You know, sorry, Blake. Well, I feel, I just had that thought.
00:34:34
Speaker 5: I feel like the multiple attempts against President Trump that have come shockingly close to being successful remind us that sadly, the best defense we've always had against assassinations has just been that for most people, the vast majority of people, it's not even thinkable that they would ever do that.
00:34:50
Speaker 1: We thankfully don't have many people.
00:34:52
Speaker 5: Who want to do a borderline, you know, a suicidal thing of trying to take somebody out. And if that's breaking down, if more people are into that, our system is unfortunately pretty vulnerable.
00:35:02
Speaker 1: Yeah.
00:35:02
Speaker 4: Well, and I think about it, though, to your point that some of these bigger schools like Charlie went to Texas A & M and I heard multiple reports. There was like 50 cops there and they had all the rooftops and they, you know, Isabel Brown told about a 2018 campus visit at UC Boulder and they had guys up on the rooftops. They were armed, actually, at that event. I mean, they were they were manning everything. Some campuses do a really good job. They do a really, really thorough job.
00:35:29
Speaker 1: They have a plan. They meet. They're sharing intel.
00:35:32
Speaker 4: And that's the trick of doing a tour like Charlie was doing. Every school was so different, and you have to get used to different personalities at each different school. Some of them had turf wars. Some of them have resources that others don't have. Tracy Chandler, Walder, this was great analysis. Thank you so much for making time for us today. Thank you for your expert analysis, genuinely. We really appreciate it.
00:35:56
Speaker 6: Thank you.
00:35:57
Speaker 8: Thank you for having me.
00:36:01
Speaker 4: Before he ever stepped onto a debate stage or behind a microphone, Charlie understood something really important, that if you want to lead, you first have to learn. Charlie believed that ideas shape character, conviction, and courage. That's why he spent years studying the classics, the American founding, and the Bible through Hillsdale College's free online courses.
00:36:20
Speaker 1: He would rave about these courses all the time.
00:36:23
Speaker 4: These free online courses are taught by Hillsdale College professors and draw from the same great books and enduring ideas studied on Hillsdale's campus. Hillsdale's newest free online course is the Iliad, where Professor Stephen Smith guides students through Homer's great epic of honor, courage, friendship, leadership, and the pursuit of true greatness. For nearly 3,000 years, the Iliad has shaped the Western imagination. It tells the story of Achilles as he confronts injustice, rage, grief, responsibility, and the terrible costs of war. But Homer's epic is more than a story of ancient battles. It raises enduring questions about courage, duty, leadership, sacrifice, and self-command.
00:37:01
Speaker 1: Achilles is the greatest.
00:37:03
Speaker 4: Warrior among the Greeks, but Homer asks whether strength alone is enough to make a man truly great. In this new free online course, you'll follow Achilles through the defining trials of his life and discover why one of the greatest works of Western literature still speaks to the permanent questions of human life. Charlie understood that learning isn't just about gaining knowledge. It's about forming the mind and character needed to face the challenges of life with wisdom and courage. You can enroll today completely free and take this class or their 40-plus other free online courses. Just visit charlieforhillsdale.com to start learning today. That's charlieforhillsdale.com. Learn deeply, think clearly, lead boldly, and carry it forward, just like Charlie. We have the great Alex Marlowe joining us, editor-in-chief of Breitbart News.
00:37:50
Speaker 1: Check it out.
00:37:51
Speaker 4: I check it out every day, multiple times, as a matter of fact. I am always excited when the lead story has changed, and I have something new to examine. And Alex manages all that team. He's done a great job there for years. Also has the Alex Marlowe Show, hosts the Alex Marlowe Show, which I have been a guest on, and I'm honored to say that.
00:38:09
Speaker 1: Alex, welcome back to the show.
00:38:12
Speaker 4: Good to have you. I know that you had thoughts about the news this morning, about the notice of claim. So we have other things to get to, but I wanted to at least give you a chance to chime in on that.
00:38:23
Speaker 7: Thank you. Thanks for the great intro also.
00:38:24
Speaker 11: And I don't love to just shamelessly plug my stuff, but I had both of you guys on as part of a series honoring Charlie last week. And it did gangbusters for me and was very popular by part. And so if people go to the Alex Marlow Show feed, you will see long-form interviews with Mikey and Tyler, as well as you two. And they're just, they're just awesome. I learned so much from you guys. So thank you for doing that with me. And I really appreciate it. And the audience did too.
00:38:50
Speaker 1: It's our honor.
00:38:51
Speaker 2: Yeah.
00:38:52
Speaker 3: Thank you.
00:38:52
Speaker 7: Thank you.
00:38:53
Speaker 11: And I really seriously getting those lessons of Charlie. We need him so badly now. I love what you guys did. And I know it comes from Erica and the family, but I, I, have been asking since Charlie got shot, what was the deal with not surveilling the roofs? And you guys are supplying answers, and you're saying that this is the real story. And I wanted these answers a year ago, and they're hard to get, and no one knew exactly what to make of what. But you guys are, I think, starting to put the puzzle together where you're answering.
00:39:25
Speaker 7: How could this have happened?
00:39:27
Speaker 11: And those of us who love Charlie and the with Charlie and even watch Charlie from afar, they all want this answer too. So I feel like as simple as it is, just this is a big step forward in trying to resolve one of the questions, which is why wasn't the roof surveilled? And you guys are starting to supply the answers. Andrew did a nice job laying out on Fox. I watched some of that. So that's great. But good for you guys for trying to find justice here.
00:39:51
Speaker 1: Yeah.
00:39:52
Speaker 4: Well, and listen, I mean, Blake and I can take approximately 0% of the credit here. We have nothing to do with any of this. This is the Kirk family decision. I know that they've been working on it for a long time.
00:40:03
Speaker 1: What's that? As it should be. Yeah, of course. Of course. And so, you know, I'm glad that they did it.
00:40:09
Speaker 4: My whole perspective on it is like good on them. If I can be an asset and support from a messaging standpoint and lay out some of the more egregious failures. You know, listen, my heart is actually with everybody involved on some level, right?
00:40:24
Speaker 1: Because I do think.
00:40:25
Speaker 4: It was, we said this in the last hour, it was probably a case where, you know, they just didn't expect something like this to happen in that part of the world, right?
00:40:33
Speaker 1: I mean, this is a sleepy little part of the greater Salt Lake area.
00:40:36
Speaker 5: We got an email from someone who just said, yeah, I'm from Southwest Montana, similar area. And he just says, doesn't enter our head that something like that could happen.
00:40:45
Speaker 4: And I, and I do think that was, but, but still the basics were not covered.
00:40:49
Speaker 1: The basics.
00:40:50
Speaker 4: This is not, we're not talking about, you gotta be, you know, extraordinary secret service level, whatever. No, just man, the roofs, make sure the rooftop access points are, are blocked off or man, monitor the CCTV footage and work with local, uh, police departments that have drones. These are, these are common things. And by the way, we'd seen them at multiple different stops. I am no expert on security. I barely even thought about it. I said hi to the security guards and all this stuff. In the months since, I've delved into it in a greater way.
00:41:20
Speaker 1: And that's all. That's all.
00:41:21
Speaker 4: These are basic things that were not done. There was no plan written in advance, security plan. There was no meeting that morning. They asked for more resources. Chief Long did. Didn't get them. They knew that rooftop was visited by students all the time. It didn't seem to trigger anybody as a point of vulnerability that needed to have special attention.
00:41:41
Speaker 1: Anyways, so I'm grateful.
00:41:43
Speaker 11: It's not acceptable. I'll just say it briefly. I'm not one to yell and scream in the mic, but it's not acceptable that this was what went down. And there needs to be accountability so it doesn't happen again. And that's the problem with all this, that Trump gets shot by a guy on a roof and people did not pay enough attention. So we need to compel people to pay attention. And I think this is a step in the right direction for that.
00:42:07
Speaker 1: No, I totally agree.
00:42:08
Speaker 4: And my heart is that this would actually empower more campus events for both conservatives and liberals. You know, we had a we had an expert on last segment and she said there needs to be uniform standards. You know, a lot of people don't want that. They resist it. You know, my university, my turf, this kind of stuff. No, you need to have basic operating protocol when it's not just Charlie's life that was on the line and obviously lost tragically. Imagine that shooter sprayed bullets into the crowd. How many lives could have been lost? Because of an oversight like that.
00:42:39
Speaker 11: And even beyond the lives, which of course that's a fantastic point, but even beyond the lives, it's free speech itself we're talking about. It's talking about that there are a lot of worthy voices that students should hear from that have a lot to say and a lot of knowledge and who are not physically brave and may have young families and don't really feel like, well, if there's a good chance I could get shot today because the university doesn't give a crap about security.
00:43:02
Speaker 7: Then I'm not going to show up.
00:43:04
Speaker 11: We can't have that. That's not America. It's the terrorist win once we allow for that. So anything that's a step in the right direction, that we protect free speech at all costs in this country, if we're moving in that direction.
00:43:15
Speaker 7: We're moving in a good day.
00:43:17
Speaker 1: That's so good, Alex. I totally agree.
00:43:19
Speaker 4: This is, if anything, the best outcome from this. If you hold people accountable, you let them know that this can't happen again. Obviously, it's beyond terrible and tragic and a loss for all of us in the country. My friend, Erica's husband, the children. But if you really care about free speech, then we have to invest in making sure that free speech can happen.
00:43:42
Speaker 1: And that means security. That means. Yeah, go ahead.
00:43:45
Speaker 11: Charlie had physical bravery, which is a not a guaranteed attribute, even in alpha males. A lot of alpha males don't even have that. So Charlie had that. But don't assume that's the norm. It doesn't make you the only valid voices. It shouldn't be a contingency that you must be physically brave to be able to speak on a campus. And that's what they're laying out. If there's not accountability here, that's what they're laying out. And it should not be that way. Now, Charlie was admirable in that way. And a lot of I've worked with a lot of other people who speak on campuses and they're admirable in that way as well.
00:44:15
Speaker 7: But it really shouldn't be a requirement. You should be able to speak peacefully on a campus. No problem.
00:44:21
Speaker 1: Amen, Alex. Really, really well said.
00:44:23
Speaker 4: Speaking of physical bravery, this is going to be a bit of a whiplash for the audience.
00:44:27
Speaker 1: Gavin Newsom, Sot9. We've got Ro Khanna, Kamala. Yeah, I don't know if she runs, but we'll see.
00:44:34
Speaker 3: I know she's called around.
00:44:35
Speaker 1: Yeah, but I wouldn't run if she ran. If she runs, you will not? Of course not.
00:44:41
Speaker 5: Why would I?
00:44:43
Speaker 1: I wouldn't do that to her. I wouldn't do that to you. I wouldn't waste everyone's time. Who needs that? What do you mean? That doesn't even make sense to me. I just, I wouldn't, no, I wouldn't. I know her base of supporters. I know her friends. The Zen diagram on that is just pure crossover. It's not, I wouldn't do that to, I wouldn't do that. Everything about that. The Zen diagram. Did you, did you catch that? The Zen diagram. Everything about that clip and the lines in it is amazing.
00:45:12
Speaker 5: I'm not a fly fisherman, but a lot of people were making fun of their casting technique and they appear to be wearing Brooks Brothers pants.
00:45:19
Speaker 1: In that pond or stream or whatever they're in do you think.
00:45:23
Speaker 4: This is gavin hedging you think this is him saying i actually don't want to do this or is this trying what is.
00:45:28
Speaker 11: This well first of all the zen diagram thing i literally make that reference to troll people to see if they're paying attention i it is a joke it's like an ali g style joke where i'll say oh it's the zen diagram just to see if anyone's like what are you talking about zen diagram he says it earnestly I put this out on the Everything app, but I will Venmo $ 50 to anyone who could get me a picture of the camera crew who Jake Tapper trotted out to film that. I want to see the camera crew watching this farce. I got a lot of commentary on what was said, but I think the most important thing to say is I can't believe CNN put cameras on these guys and took this remotely seriously.
00:46:06
Speaker 1: I want to know how it happened.
00:46:07
Speaker 4: Was Tapper like, I really want this interview, and Gavin was like, well, I've got this fishing trip.
00:46:14
Speaker 1: I'm heading from the French Laundry over to Montana.
00:46:16
Speaker 5: Every candidate should be in increasingly implausible situations, like an interview while they're on a climbing wall.
00:46:22
Speaker 1: Or in a batting cage. Just bizarre situations. All right.
00:46:26
Speaker 4: Alex, I'm looking at the top of Breitbart, which I always say that I'm going to do. And this clip in this viral moment just, like, is not going anywhere.
00:46:34
Speaker 1: And it's hilarious. This is from Nolte.
00:46:36
Speaker 4: He goes, James Talrico's favorite drag queen really, really likes kids. It's a terrible headline if you're– throw up 161. This is the top of Breitbart right now. And this, of course, comes from this, like, terrible exchange where James Talrico is asked who his favorite drag queen is, which is a weird question. But the weirder part was that at the tip of his tongue– He had an answer. He had an answer, Alex. Do you have an answer, Alex?
00:47:08
Speaker 11: Who's your– This is just no, I don't.
00:47:11
Speaker 7: I absolutely don't. And it's a no man should.
00:47:14
Speaker 3: Right.
00:47:15
Speaker 11: And I mean, this is a guy who's running for the Senate in Texas and he's running on this platform. He's a super nice guy, but he is super tuned in to all of the male to male to female drag queens. who specifically target children. And remember, Tallarico is always thinking about the trans children from that other quote. And they're selling this to Texas. I mean, this is, I think someone told me that like a Robert Patty O'Rourke Beto, you know, the fake Latins, who's actually an Irishman. He's like Charlton Heston compared to Tallarico.
00:47:52
Speaker 7: And they're selling this guy in Texas. I can't believe– the Democrats are in such a mess.
00:47:55
Speaker 11: I was thinking about this in the context of the midterm, guys, about how it's a– with everything that's going on is that Republicans would get completely crushed if they're running against no one. But they are running against the Democrats, and these are the guys they keep putting out there, guys who make excuses for 9-11, guys who make excuses for October the 7th, guys who eat barbecue with a napkin wrapped around the meat. But they were also a vegan at some point and won a vegan campaign yesterday.
00:48:21
Speaker 7: And then Newsom's not on the ballot, but he kind of is.
00:48:23
Speaker 11: And he's there and he is a he's saying he's going to see to Kamala Harris, who is just now a wine mom and is just getting into Sauvignon B really early in the day all the time. It sounds completely incoherent whenever she talks. And Tallarico is so keyed into the drag queen network.
00:48:41
Speaker 7: What is going on?
00:48:42
Speaker 11: So we did do a dive just to come back the story into and it wasn't by a hat tip.
00:48:48
Speaker 7: Libs a tick tock who was doing this before.
00:48:50
Speaker 11: And we went in and looked at some of the stuff that this guy has been up to, and he is just way into the kids, just way into the kids, and Talrico loves it.
00:48:58
Speaker 4: Yeah, so in real life, Alyssa Edwards, Talrico's favorite drag queen, is a 46-year-old dude named Justin Dwayne Lee Johnson, who identifies as a woman. Born in Texas, won the title for Miss Gay America in 2010, and now operates the Beyond Belief Dance Company, marketed, you guessed it, directly... at kids.
00:49:22
Speaker 1: This is disgusting. It's gross.
00:49:25
Speaker 7: It's legit gross.
00:49:26
Speaker 1: Do we have the clip, by the way? Do we not? We do. We do. Let's just show it. Let's play it. Clip 10. Clip 10.
00:49:32
Speaker 6: Mr.
00:49:32
Speaker 1: Tallarico, so nice to meet you.
00:49:33
Speaker 3: Sorry, I broke my head. I was there when you defended the drags.
00:49:36
Speaker 1: Who's your favorite drag queen in Texas?
00:49:38
Speaker 3: Oh my God, probably Alyssa Edwards.
00:49:39
Speaker 9: Alyssa Edwards?
00:49:40
Speaker 3: I love Marky Mays.
00:49:41
Speaker 1: Thank you so much. Instant. That was, I mean. That should just be on every ad. Every AI. Just take that eight second cut or whatever it is, put it in every ad. The latency there was like nothing.
00:49:55
Speaker 4: Like every AI is jealous of how quickly he can.
00:49:59
Speaker 1: Like he didn't even pause to think, Is this a question I should answer?
00:50:02
Speaker 4: No, what he did is it looked like he paused because he didn't want to offend the other drag queens that were also at the tip.
00:50:06
Speaker 1: Of his tongue.
00:50:07
Speaker 6: Yeah.
00:50:07
Speaker 1: He had to say probably. It could be one of the others.
00:50:10
Speaker 7: It's such a great point.
00:50:11
Speaker 11: If you guys punch into Grok, who is the best drag queen in Texas, they're going to think much longer than Tallarico thought.
00:50:19
Speaker 7: And that's crazy to think of it that way.
00:50:21
Speaker 4: Oh, that is really crazy. All right. Well, so let's– okay, we've got only two and a half minutes left here, Alex.
00:50:27
Speaker 3: Hold on.
00:50:28
Speaker 5: It's five, six seconds. Forming an opinion on drag queens as a topic. There is no official ranking. It did give me Alyssa Edwards first. So Claude agrees with Tallarica.
00:50:39
Speaker 6: Wow.
00:50:39
Speaker 1: I wonder if anybody's asked people to do this.
00:50:41
Speaker 11: That was very high IQ, Blake, to do that in real time. That was good radio right there.
00:50:44
Speaker 3: That was pretty funny.
00:50:46
Speaker 6: All right.
00:50:46
Speaker 4: So you got two and a half minutes left. You've been paying attention to Hasan Piker's crash out. Obviously, when you think of Hasan Piker, we're thinking El Sayed. By the way, Michelle Tafoya, I'm trying to get her on the show. She's within striking distance in Minnesota.
00:51:01
Speaker 1: I think so.
00:51:02
Speaker 4: Rich Barris likes her chances more than Rodgers in Michigan. So that's the state of play. Sununu is basically tied in New Hampshire. We're working our tails off there at Turning Point Action, tpaction.com, slash 100.
00:51:14
Speaker 1: Get involved.
00:51:15
Speaker 4: Go chase some ballots. You can do it and volunteer. tpaction.com will give you 100 names to chase. Alex, two minutes left. Give us the Hassan Piker 30,000 foot.
00:51:24
Speaker 11: Well, I just think that his crash out is really unbelievable, and people who actually watch his Twitch right now, that he's calling now America the worst POS country in the world, and he's just tripling down on that he hates this country. As people start getting the word out that he really– it's almost.
00:51:40
Speaker 7: Funny to watch.
00:51:41
Speaker 11: He's really mostly a stand-up comedian in a lot of ways. When you start appraising him through that lens and that the Democrats let him be the face of the party– And that the Hakeem Jeffreys of the world didn't have any power to stop him becoming.
00:51:54
Speaker 7: The face of the party.
00:51:55
Speaker 11: A guy who's mostly a jokester who Charlie humiliated on numerous occasions. And I think you start understanding that, oh, yeah, he puts a clown nose on a lot so he can get Twitch attention. He was never meant to be the guy who was in charge of the party. And now that he is, he's having this huge crash out where he's coming. He's going further, further to the left. And he does not like that he's getting spurned. But just I'm calling out all the guys, the Pod Save America podcast bros who make so much money podcasting.
00:52:21
Speaker 7: They have no power. They have no effect on that party.
00:52:24
Speaker 11: That party has been completely overtaken by the freaks who are residing online. And this is the king of it. Hasan Piker is the king of it. And it is just pretty delish to watch.
00:52:36
Speaker 4: Yeah, it's interesting that instead of kind of getting his wrist slapped and kind of moderating for his pals saying normal things. This is the problem, by the way, when you get content creators in politics. Charlie was the exception to the rule. I mean, we're not built that way, so I guess we're the exception to the rule, too. But these guys, they care about their content more than they care about El Sayed. They care about their content more than they care about the country or the state of the party or anything like that. They will put themselves and their content and their clicks and their views ahead of anything. So court some Twitch streamer out of California at your own peril.
00:53:11
Speaker 1: Alex Marlow, you're the man. We love having you. Thank you so much, my friend. We'll talk to you soon.
00:53:18
Speaker 4: If you're about to turn 65 and you're already on Medicare, this message is for you. Charlie cared about America's seniors. He was outraged that so many were paying too much for their Medicare coverage and getting less than they deserved in return. That's why he partnered with Chapter. And we're still partnered with Chapter. Chapter's licensed advisors search every Medicare plan to find what's actually best for you. The call is 100% free, no pressure, just honest help. Seniors save an average of $ 1, 100.
00:53:48
Speaker 1: A year with Chapter.

Speaker 4: They've already helped hundreds of our listeners enroll in better plans, and they can help you too. So if you're nearing 65 or already on Medicare, make the call today. Dial pound 250, pound 250, and say Charlie Kirk. to make sure you're in the best available plan. That's pound 250 and say Charlie Kirk or go to askchapter.org slash Kirk. Without further ado, we welcome Nick Sorter. Nick Sorter is an independent journalist. He's also, you'll see him all over X, blowing up stories. Nick, you flagged this for me. Somehow I missed this story. I don't know how I missed it, but it's a story out of the University of Utah. And it involves a couple of college Republicans. They're tabling on campus. You flagged this for me late last night. So why don't you just give the audience the full backstory first before we get to the latest breaking news here?
00:54:42
Speaker 6: Yeah.
00:54:43
Speaker 3: So I actually just happened to see it in my feed on X.
00:54:46
Speaker 10: I was going through and I saw, you know, these these were the two college Republicans.
00:54:51
Speaker 1: Right.
00:54:51
Speaker 10: That have that posted a photo last week of the Sarah girl. that walked up to their booth, their booth that they had on campus. It was a voter registration booth for college Republicans. She walks up with this cake that says Happy Kirkiversary on it, celebrating the.
00:55:12
Speaker 3: Assassination of Charlie Kirk.
00:55:14
Speaker 1: They take a picture.
00:55:16
Speaker 10: She poses for the photo, obviously, and it's posted on social media.
00:55:22
Speaker 1: Who do you think gets in trouble for that?
00:55:24
Speaker 10: It happens to be not the chick that was celebrating Charlie's assassination.
00:55:30
Speaker 3: It was the girl and.
00:55:31
Speaker 10: The guy, college Republicans, that took the photo and posted it online. They didn't use her name. They didn't put her name out there. She was identified by somebody else through the picture. So this girl never had any sort of pushback on her from the university. She came out and apparently lobbed a fake apology to the college Republicans and then went straight to school administrators and tried to get the two of them expelled. And I saw a post from Riley and Riley. It's a girl and a guy saying that they were going to have a hearing, an expulsion hearing the next morning. And this was pretty late last night when I saw it. It really pissed me off immediately. And I reached out to them and said, hey, you don't need to go to this alone. Let me get you an attorney. Uh, and I was like, that's when I reached out to you after that and being like, okay, well, do you know anybody out there that I can retain to try to, uh, not let them get steamrolled by woke university administrators. And you guys stepped in over there and, uh, you know, I don't know how much she wants to say, but I'm going to go ahead and say it. And, uh, Erica would not let me pay for it. She went ahead and pulled it out of her own pocket. Attorneys were working through the night. And now we have an update. They got an email from the administrators this morning saying, due to unforeseen circumstances, we're going to have to reschedule our expulsion hearing. So, you know, I can't appreciate you guys enough stepping in and getting this done.
00:57:11
Speaker 4: I can't appreciate you enough, Nick, for flagging this for us last night. As you know, we've got a lot of news breaking today, and it was a busy evening and morning and all that kind of stuff.
00:57:20
Speaker 1: But when I heard about this, I was.
00:57:22
Speaker 4: absolutely floored i i think you know the i saw like brandon herrera was in the comments palmer lucky was in the comment i mean this has gotten national news that first clip that first kirkiversary picture that she just posted going what is wrong with people got like six million engagements i think she has 2500 followers on x six million engagement and so like god bless her for flagging it she did nothing wrong this girl came up to their booth and taunted them, flaunting this cake, which is just disgusting behavior, by the way. And yeah, the internet did what the internet does, but they didn't do anything wrong.
00:57:58
Speaker 1: Blake, sorry, I cut you off.
00:57:59
Speaker 5: Well, it stood out to me how everything in the world in university moves very slowly.
00:58:06
Speaker 1: It's a bureaucracy. It's glacial.
00:58:07
Speaker 5: And the anniversary was a week ago. They turned around and they say, oh, you're having a hearing about this ASAP. This is what we need to move heaven and earth. And I almost wonder if Someone in that university maybe saw an opportunity, thought we can do this really fast before they have a time to react.
00:58:24
Speaker 1: I don't know. I'd be very interested in who pushed this forward aggressively.
00:58:28
Speaker 4: Nick, what can you tell us about what the university was alleging against Riley and Riley, these two conservatives on campus?
00:58:35
Speaker 3: Doxing was the main problem. That's what they said. They said that posting a photo online is doxing. I don't know.
00:58:44
Speaker 10: You have all the other students in the background, too. Were they doxed? Does that count as a dox? What counts as a dox at this point? And so I can pull up the original email here that says, as ironic as this is, the standard of behavior violation in question includes... Threatening or endangering behavior. That's what they're alleging. against the two college Republicans there. Allegedly involves you attempting to dox another University of Utah student over a political issue.
00:59:22
Speaker 1: Well, so.
00:59:23
Speaker 4: Let's play this clip. I've never met these kids, but I saw them, and I instantly loved their energy.
00:59:30
Speaker 1: I believe it's Sat 3.
00:59:32
Speaker 5: Despite the death threats that we have received from students at University of Utah, we are out here getting students more involved and.
00:59:37
Speaker 1: Registered to vote.
00:59:38
Speaker 10: We will not be silenced, and we will not be intimidated. We're here to make campus conservative again and be the conservative voice on campus.
00:59:47
Speaker 4: Okay, so just summing it all up for everybody, those kids are tabling on campus. trying to register students to vote, right? Doing things that we should all be celebrating. Some lefty comes up taunting them about the Kirkiversary. She decorated a whole cake, thought it was hilarious, poses for a picture.
01:00:08
Speaker 1: They do it. They post it on social media. It goes viral. And somehow they're in trouble.
01:00:15
Speaker 4: They're the ones facing expulsion, not the vile ghoul who thought it was so hilarious and issued this fake phony apology because then we find out Correct me if I'm wrong here, Nick, that she's quietly behind the scenes leading the charge to get them expelled. So welcome to college campus in 2026, folks. That's the state of play. Yeah, it's terrifying to think about. And there's actually more going on today as well. Like, I'm still in a group message with them, you know, just so that they know that they have support and they're keeping me posted on everything that's happening. The College Democrats, the Queer Club, and another club is now having a protest against Riley, the girl, on campus today, calling the college Republicans and her a campaign of hate.
01:01:04
Speaker 3: I mean, it's... It's disgusting.
01:01:08
Speaker 10: But what about all these other people that are– there have been messages where they've been joking about, oh, well, maybe we'll use our Second Amendment against Riley. Those are in group messages that they have pulled as well. So they're getting direct threats, and none of those kids are being– punished for that either.
01:01:26
Speaker 4: Look i mean it's just despicable the amount of threats going on it's like a national emergency genuinely it is but this is the official statement from the i guess college democrats so watch what they do here nick if you weren't like ticked off enough They are making her out to be the victim.
01:01:44
Speaker 1: This is obscene. Did you want to read it?
01:01:46
Speaker 5: Yeah, I think it's a pretty long statement, but they just say, A student at the University of Utah made a distasteful joke about the murder of Charlie Kirk. In response, the University of Utah College Republicans posted an image of her online with the intent of publicly shaming her. It garnered over 6 million views with thousands of hateful comments, doxing her and her family, targeting her appearance, and trying to ruin her life. Despite their request to delete it, College Republican leadership doubled down. Let's jump ahead, and they say, College Democrats condemn the online harassment and cyberbullying perpetrated by the college Republicans in the strongest possible terms. We call on the University of Utah administration to create an environment where students can interact without fearing for their safety and to impose consequences on those who encourage participation.
01:02:27
Speaker 1: So first of all, it's the fact that they're taking.
01:02:30
Speaker 5: cyber bullying and they're treating that as worse than actual in your face haha hey remember that guy you liked he's dead suck it that she did.
01:02:40
Speaker 4: She's normalizing assassination culture which leads to dead people okay and let me tell you if you have any doubt about that like just ask us okay so she's normalizing that she's part of this greater ecosystem and then they rope in the admin to do their bidding against two kids that did nothing wrong that were registering people to vote Gosh, this story will just infuriate you and enrage you in so like so many different ways. They're very well aware of this, though, aren't they, Nick? I mean, they've been looped in. They know that there's a campaign to get them expelled from school.
01:03:13
Speaker 3: Absolutely.
01:03:13
Speaker 10: And I can only imagine what they're going through. And that's why I'm happy to see all the people online rallying around them. You know, people messaging me offering to help. You know, they're they've got legal representation now.
01:03:28
Speaker 4: They're.
01:03:29
Speaker 10: Luckily, they know that they've got a lot of weight behind them. I want these kids to know that they need to keep pushing because, you know, we're going to have their back as much as we possibly can. And the universities need to learn a lesson as well, that we're just not going to sit and tolerate conservatives and Republicans. You know, being harassed and bullied by administrators. We're just not going to do it. So I hope there's a lesson there for them as well. It's not over, though, because it's still technically rescheduled with more information forthcoming. The attorneys believe that they have a pretty good grasp on it, but it's still an ongoing situation.
01:04:10
Speaker 3: We just got to make sure.
01:04:11
Speaker 10: That we don't turn our head away and then they end up getting, you know, they end up coming back on him.
01:04:17
Speaker 5: There's a real warning in this about how the left works. You read the wording of that Democrat statement. They're very good at performative victimhood they're very good at weaponizing bureaucratic processes they're complaining about cyberbullying but this is in fact bullying in its truest element of we're going to find a way to exploit this system that favors us to hurt you that will rub something in your face and when you shove back we're going to scream and run to the authorities this is a way of preying on people in the 2020s well this.
01:04:53
Speaker 4: Is one of the reasons we love Harmeet Dhillon around here throw up the image So the University of Utah College Republicans posted a video of them that we played here already.
01:05:02
Speaker 1: She goes, Utah?
01:05:04
Speaker 4: WTH is going on over there.
01:05:07
Speaker 1: Yeah. We all have that same question, Harmeet.
01:05:10
Speaker 3: You don't want Harmeet Dhillon coming after your university.
01:05:14
Speaker 4: So let's bottom line this for us. I just want to make sure that we don't, okay. To support them right now, just be vigilant, right? Because everything's been pushed. A lot of noise was made last night.
01:05:23
Speaker 1: Everything's pushed.
01:05:24
Speaker 4: They were trying to drag these kids in to this hearing, by the way, at 8.30 a.m.
01:05:28
Speaker 1: This morning.
01:05:28
Speaker 4: 8.30 a.m. local time in Utah. I really don't know what the hell's going on in Utah. I'm with Harmeet on this. Something is afoul. Something smells fishy in the state of Utah. I don't really fully understand what the heck's going on there.
01:05:44
Speaker 1: I mean, you've got to think, the libs in Utah are very bad. Yeah. Go ahead, Nick.
01:05:51
Speaker 10: Yeah, well, I mean, they've also got a rhino problem there, too, but that's, I guess, a story for another day. the fact of the matter is just a couple of miles away is where Charlie was assassinated, right?
01:06:03
Speaker 3: From this university.
01:06:04
Speaker 10: And you're seeing this stuff being celebrated that close. I mean, it's just disgusting stuff. And, you know, to think that Like, this stuff is happening to college students on other campuses as well. College Republicans have been dealing with this problem, you know, for a long time. It's just getting uglier and uglier, right? We just happen to be hearing about this time. What about the ones that we don't hear about? And, you know, of course, they scheduled these things so early in the morning because they were trying to avoid any sort of backlash or this exact scenario, really. They didn't want the word getting out. They didn't think that there was going to be a platform big enough for these kids to spur up a bunch of backlash. And, and that's why, you know, people like us use our platform and use our resources. And, you know, I, when I texted Harmeet about it last night, like she was pissed off too. And, you know, you, the, the DOJ, you know, can.
01:06:59
Speaker 3: Definitely, if these people make the wrong move, if they do end up.
01:07:03
Speaker 10: Trying to expel these two young students, I would say it's going to cost that university a lot of money. And the DOJ is going to end up getting directly involved.
01:07:12
Speaker 4: Yeah, I mean, what is more troubling, even big picture here, is what I said earlier about what this Sarah girl did. They call it a distasteful joke and then somehow flip it to make them the victims here or make her the victim here. But what it is is a normalization of political violence, of assassination culture, of Luigi Mangione, of Tyler Robinson, and they glorify it. They make a joke out of it. They mock it.
01:07:38
Speaker 1: This is serious stuff.
01:07:41
Speaker 4: We're talking about this wrongful negligent death.
01:07:44
Speaker 1: Claim that we're at UVU.
01:07:47
Speaker 4: That is important because we have to ensure that free speech can continue. One of the points of doing a lawsuit like that is that you actually make sure it doesn't happen again so that people's lives are protected. God forbid that gunmen would have sprayed into the crowd and killed a bunch of students as well as Charlie, which was obviously horrific and tragic all on its own. But could you imagine if there would have been dozens of family members besides that, right? So we've got to make sure that our places of free speech are safe, are secure, are protected. Nick, you have been stared down by the left. You have stared them back in the eye, and you're a brave guy. You have physical courage, unlike many. It shouldn't have to be this way, though. Explain for our audience, because you've been in the thick of it, How scary some of these environments are, how the left talks about violence, how they talk about killing people.
01:08:41
Speaker 1: You've seen it up close.
01:08:43
Speaker 10: Yeah, especially when I go to like anti-ice riots and such where in blue cities like Minneapolis, you're there. You know, we independent reporters, we're there by ourselves with, you know, the police aren't going to respond if they start targeting you or harassing you or gossiping. forbid, try to hurt you.
01:09:01
Speaker 3: So I have to go to.
01:09:02
Speaker 10: These places in disguise most of the time just because all it takes is one person, one person to call out your name. Doesn't matter if anybody else in that crowd knows who you are.
01:09:11
Speaker 6: Right.
01:09:12
Speaker 10: They spark a mob against you. And then that's when you've seen my I've had vehicles destroyed. They've thrown rocks at my head in through my windows in Minneapolis. They were jumping on my vehicle.
01:09:26
Speaker 1: Just because I existed.
01:09:28
Speaker 10: Yeah, just just simply because I existed and I was I was there filming. I wasn't even talking to anybody 90 percent of the time. And I sure as hell wasn't like I go there to document. That's what I do. I rarely put myself on camera.
01:09:45
Speaker 1: Right.
01:09:45
Speaker 3: I'm going to be behind the camera.
01:09:47
Speaker 10: I want to show people what's going on because, you know, the mainstream media won't do it. But they're they're almost the left is becoming desensitized to the violence that they are, you know, instilling on us. Look at the amount of times that, you know, Trump has been trying to get at Trump now.
01:10:04
Speaker 1: Right.
01:10:05
Speaker 10: People are desensitized to it. It's like, okay, another day, another assassination attempt. And it's the same thing with them dancing around with... cakes celebrating a high profile assassination that happened two miles away and you know you got to think about it a lot of the kids on that campus at university of utah were in the crowd at uvu they weren't all uvu students right so they're also they're celebrating the trauma that a lot of these students who saw it happen firsthand are having to live through now right i mean it's it's disgusting in that manner.
01:10:38
Speaker 5: As well they're they want they want to signal that they support having you killed if you voice conservative views and they'll think it's funny afterwards. That's what this is communicating. And we've seen it in a bunch of places. It's defended by people. Some of their leading people, like Hassan Piker, do it. People who are the ground troops for their congressional campaigns, for their left-wing organizations like the ACLU.
01:11:07
Speaker 1: This is mainstream among them. It is the normalization of the violent murder of your political opponents.
01:11:14
Speaker 4: Well, and it can't be said enough that what a missed opportunity in the direct aftermath of Charlie's assassination to root out so much of this violence, the networks that support it, the communication networks. And we all got distracted, and a lot of people went down conspiracy lane, and it was a total missed opportunity.
01:11:32
Speaker 5: I don't want to say full missed opportunity, because I should give the Trump administration credit that there have been Antifa cells that have been arrested, charged, in several cases convicted, If you read the left's posts on Blue Sky, they freak.
01:11:45
Speaker 1: Out about this. That's good.
01:11:47
Speaker 4: And the Treasury Department is continuing its work to root out some of these financial networks. So we praise that as well. But listen, could it have been more? Could it have been more? I mean, yeah, it could have been. We could have made more progress than we have. And we have to stay on it. That has to be a mission. And that's why I love the way you approach this, Nick. You said, watch out, University of Utah. DOJ is now watching you. Like, we are all aware of this, and there will be consequences. Final 30 seconds to you, Nick.
01:12:17
Speaker 10: Yeah, I mean, again, I just– I really appreciate you guys stepping up to the plate and not letting these two kids that.
01:12:23
Speaker 3: Are just trying to do what's– I mean, they're registering voters, right? They're not doing anything wrong.
01:12:29
Speaker 10: They're not– you know, they're– look, if they were– if they were calling for violence against this girl or something, then, yes, I could maybe see some disciplinary action.
01:12:41
Speaker 3: But they did the opposite of that, right?
01:12:43
Speaker 10: I mean, these are two of the nicest kids that I've talked to in the longest time, and they.
01:12:48
Speaker 3: Don't deserve this. It's just disgusting. So thank you guys for stepping up.
01:12:52
Speaker 4: No, thanks for flagging it for us last night, Nick. Really appreciate it. And, yeah, we're glad that they got the support they need and have a good feeling about the future of this.
01:13:01
Speaker 1: But we've got to stay vigilant.
01:13:02
Speaker 4: We've got to stay vigilant on this one.
01:13:03
Speaker 1: Nick Sorter.
01:13:04
Speaker 4: Check him out everywhere.
01:13:06
Speaker 1: He's everywhere. So you can get him everywhere. For more on many of these stories and news you can trust, go to CharlieKirk.com.
