After a couple of episodes of near-misses, Matt finally gets to talk about .NET MAUI Day London — and it was worth the wait.
Fresh off BDD Live and with a head full of hallway conversations and live demos, Matt and Liam settle in for a wide-ranging debrief on mobile development, agentic experiments, and the surprisingly hard problem of filtering YouTube for things that are actually worth your time.
They cover:
✔️ The BDD Live wrap-up — what it was like watching it back, Bubbles the AI panellist, and why they’re already thinking about the next one
✔️ Scott Hanselman and Mark Russinovich’s article on Redefining the Software Engineering Profession for AI — and why Matt and Liam clearly got there first!
✔️ Matt’s Fluff Slicer — a vibe-coded browser extension that grabs YouTube transcripts, runs them through a rubric (specificity, novelty, actionability, evidence), and tells you whether to watch or skip
✔️ Liam’s Encubed Games experiment — a fully agentic AI game studio built on Claude Code and Cloudflare, with a CEO, a Chief Vision Officer, an R&D team, a playable Blazor alpha, and zero human game developers
✔️ .NET MAUI Day London — the community atmosphere, meeting David Ortinau and Gerald Versluis in person for the first time, the live .NET MAUI Community Standup from the Microsoft London office
✔️ The coffee app demo that used on-device AI and a phone camera to count the room — and nailed it
✔️ MotiMe — the IoT physio app turning physiotherapy exercises into a game for kids, and the 92%+ engagement improvement that backs it up
✔️ Stephane’s talk on C# expressions in XAML and what it means for the future of how we build MAUI apps
✔️ Matt’s own talk: “Opinionated by Necessity” — Singleton vs Transient page lifetimes, MVVM misconceptions, and why “apps that scale” should mean the team, not the load
✔️ The Q&A panel with David and Gerald — candid answers about .NET MAUI’s future at Microsoft, what .NET 10 actually delivers, and why now might be the best time to (re)try MAUI
