00:00:07.080 --> 00:00:11.640
GeekSpeak into street speak. Technology columnist, author, and TV personality
6
00:00:11.679 --> 00:00:15.759
Mark Saltzman covers consumer technology each week for every listener,

00:00:16.280 --> 00:00:19.559
Mark tackles the latest news, reviews, and how toos to
8
00:00:19.600 --> 00:00:23.600
help you understand what's hot, what's not and why.
9
00:00:24.600 --> 00:00:29.000
Hey everyone, welcome to tech it Out, Episode three sixty four.
10
00:00:29.239 --> 00:00:32.679
I hope you're all doing fantastic today and wishing my
11
00:00:33.000 --> 00:00:36.320
Jewish friends, my Jewish listeners a happy new year, and
12
00:00:36.600 --> 00:00:40.000
hoping for a peaceful one too, of course, with everything
13
00:00:40.039 --> 00:00:42.920
going on in the Middle East, and hey, even here
14
00:00:42.960 --> 00:00:45.000
on this side of the pond. You know, I love
15
00:00:45.439 --> 00:00:49.399
x or Twitter, but it's become so toxic. I swear
16
00:00:49.439 --> 00:00:52.280
my blood pressure rises when I scroll through my feed.
17
00:00:52.759 --> 00:00:56.079
At least it gives you real time news and views,
18
00:00:56.200 --> 00:00:58.600
even though I don't agree with a lot of them.
19
00:00:58.920 --> 00:01:01.439
Are you on X or have you moved on to
20
00:01:01.520 --> 00:01:05.359
the friendlier threads? Well, I'm on both platforms and others
21
00:01:05.400 --> 00:01:09.359
of course, like Facebook and Instagram, LinkedIn and YouTube, so
22
00:01:09.480 --> 00:01:11.640
be sure to reach out and say hi. Let me
23
00:01:11.719 --> 00:01:14.319
know where you're tuning into Tech it Out from if
24
00:01:14.319 --> 00:01:18.239
it's on your local talk radio station or in podcast form,
25
00:01:18.319 --> 00:01:20.879
and yeah, go ahead and ask tech questions if you've
26
00:01:20.920 --> 00:01:23.599
got them. I'm also open to suggestions, of course for
27
00:01:23.719 --> 00:01:26.680
upcoming guests or topics on the show. What you don't like,
28
00:01:27.000 --> 00:01:29.480
it's all good. So we do have a great tech
29
00:01:29.560 --> 00:01:31.840
it Out plan for you today, if I may say
30
00:01:31.840 --> 00:01:34.599
so myself. We'll kick things off with a new robotic
31
00:01:34.680 --> 00:01:38.439
lawnmower from Segue, Yes, the people mover, and so we'll
32
00:01:38.439 --> 00:01:42.359
hear what's new and newsworthy with that new robotic device.
33
00:01:42.719 --> 00:01:47.079
After that, tech expert Carly Noblock has some family ideas
34
00:01:47.120 --> 00:01:49.719
for the fall. Later on in the show, I'll share
35
00:01:49.760 --> 00:01:53.519
some small business solutions to keeping your small business lean
36
00:01:53.640 --> 00:01:58.159
and competitive and profitable. And Samsung Mobile will stop by
37
00:01:58.239 --> 00:02:01.280
this hour with some news about new devices powered by
38
00:02:01.439 --> 00:02:04.879
AI artificial intelligence and what they can do for you
39
00:02:04.920 --> 00:02:07.760
in plain English. And so a very busy tack it
40
00:02:07.799 --> 00:02:11.039
Out for you this hour, powered by Intel Core Ultra
41
00:02:11.199 --> 00:02:14.759
PCs Series two, which I'll tell you more about shortly.
42
00:02:14.879 --> 00:02:17.319
But let's officially kick off a brand new tech it
43
00:02:17.400 --> 00:02:20.960
Out with our first interview. You likely know Segue as
44
00:02:21.000 --> 00:02:24.199
a high tech people mover, but the company has released
45
00:02:24.199 --> 00:02:28.639
its latest robotic lawnmower, the Navamo series, which can automatically
46
00:02:28.680 --> 00:02:31.360
cut and maintain your lawn for you. So what's new
47
00:02:31.439 --> 00:02:33.879
with the Segway Navamo and how does it differ from
48
00:02:34.000 --> 00:02:37.879
other robotic lawnmowers in the market. We're joined by Wayne Kryfels.
49
00:02:37.879 --> 00:02:40.639
He's head of sales for North America. Hey, Wayne, thanks
50
00:02:40.680 --> 00:02:42.080
for your time today. Good to chat with you.
51
00:02:42.360 --> 00:02:43.719
Hi, Mark, happy to be here.
52
00:02:44.039 --> 00:02:47.599
So before we talk about Segue Navamo, let's first talk
53
00:02:47.639 --> 00:02:50.199
a bit about this space, maybe more of a high level.
54
00:02:50.360 --> 00:02:54.080
What are robotic lawnmowers exactly? And how big is this space?
55
00:02:54.280 --> 00:02:56.759
Yeah, so this, you know, the space overall with outdoor
56
00:02:56.840 --> 00:03:00.879
power equipment's about a thirty five billion dollar industry and
57
00:03:00.960 --> 00:03:04.919
it's it's kind of slated to grow about sixty two
58
00:03:05.000 --> 00:03:07.639
billion by the end of twenty thirty four. And it's
59
00:03:07.879 --> 00:03:12.759
mostly because of technology being integrated in the outdoor power space,
60
00:03:12.800 --> 00:03:16.240
such as robots and battery powered equipment. And also there's
61
00:03:16.280 --> 00:03:19.000
seen a big trend in popularity of gardening and other
62
00:03:19.039 --> 00:03:22.000
outdoor activities. Is kind of why this is growing. So
63
00:03:22.199 --> 00:03:25.840
robotic mowers is really to replace your push mower or
64
00:03:25.879 --> 00:03:27.879
your zero term that you're currently using.
65
00:03:28.520 --> 00:03:31.560
Okay, so, as the name suggests, this is a device
66
00:03:32.039 --> 00:03:36.120
probably not unlike a rumba would vacuum your carpet or
67
00:03:36.159 --> 00:03:40.319
your hardwood floors or tile for you. This autonomously will
68
00:03:40.520 --> 00:03:44.120
drive around your lawn and cut your grass. But the
69
00:03:44.319 --> 00:03:47.000
key difference between one of these and say a push
70
00:03:47.039 --> 00:03:49.080
mower as you called it, or a ridable more or whatever,
71
00:03:49.319 --> 00:03:51.280
is that it gives it more of a trim than
72
00:03:51.319 --> 00:03:53.840
a haircut. Is that fair. It's an electric motor, so
73
00:03:53.919 --> 00:03:56.080
it's quiet, which is another benefit is that you can
74
00:03:56.159 --> 00:03:58.199
have it cut your grass day and night, but it
75
00:03:58.319 --> 00:04:01.000
leaves that cut grass on top of the lawn to
76
00:04:01.039 --> 00:04:02.520
act sort of as a fertilizer.
77
00:04:02.800 --> 00:04:06.360
Yeah, you know, robotically mowing, we're typically mowing only once
78
00:04:06.400 --> 00:04:09.439
a week. Traditionally with robotic mowing, you're out there mowing.
79
00:04:09.439 --> 00:04:12.599
You're properly you know, three, four, five times a week.
80
00:04:12.599 --> 00:04:14.560
This depending on where you're at and how much rain
81
00:04:14.599 --> 00:04:17.480
we're getting. But it cuts a little bit off at
82
00:04:17.519 --> 00:04:19.759
a time, so it's way more healthy for your lawn.
83
00:04:19.759 --> 00:04:24.120
You're watering less, you're fertilizing less. You're also less susceptible
84
00:04:24.160 --> 00:04:28.720
to any any diseases. So the clippings are extremely small
85
00:04:28.759 --> 00:04:30.920
compared to what we traditionally see today.
86
00:04:31.279 --> 00:04:34.279
Correct, yep, okay, good, So again, no bag that's holding
87
00:04:34.360 --> 00:04:37.040
these grass clippings that you need to dispose of later on.
88
00:04:37.240 --> 00:04:40.199
It leaves it on top of the lawn. That's what
89
00:04:40.240 --> 00:04:43.399
you would expect from any robotic lawn mower out there.
90
00:04:43.480 --> 00:04:45.000
So I will ask you to one of what would
91
00:04:45.040 --> 00:04:48.959
separate the Navamo series from the other players. But let's
92
00:04:49.000 --> 00:04:51.560
talk about Navamo. So this is from the company segue
93
00:04:51.560 --> 00:04:53.360
that no doubt my listeners have heard of. Tell us
94
00:04:53.360 --> 00:04:56.000
about the company and your most recent release. This is
95
00:04:56.040 --> 00:04:58.120
the I series robotic lawnmowers.
96
00:04:58.399 --> 00:04:59.560
Yes, the ICE series.
97
00:04:59.639 --> 00:05:02.959
So our first generation was called the H series, which
98
00:05:03.040 --> 00:05:04.920
released in twenty twenty.
99
00:05:04.680 --> 00:05:06.439
And now we're on the I series that we.
100
00:05:06.439 --> 00:05:10.439
Released in twenty twenty three, and we're slated to release
101
00:05:10.519 --> 00:05:13.120
another one here next month in October called.
102
00:05:12.920 --> 00:05:13.759
The X series.
103
00:05:13.920 --> 00:05:14.319
Oh cool.
104
00:05:14.519 --> 00:05:17.720
But this yeah, So this I series is really really
105
00:05:17.759 --> 00:05:19.120
geared towards.
106
00:05:18.800 --> 00:05:20.680
The DIY homeowner.
107
00:05:20.959 --> 00:05:24.759
Very intuitive robot, highly intelligent with AI on it, and
108
00:05:24.920 --> 00:05:27.439
the app is probably one of the most user friendly
109
00:05:27.480 --> 00:05:29.759
apps I think you could ever dive into.
110
00:05:29.759 --> 00:05:32.199
Before we talk about the tech. And if you need
111
00:05:32.240 --> 00:05:35.399
to use a ground wire like some other companies have,
112
00:05:35.639 --> 00:05:38.680
or maybe it relies on GPS or vision, we'll get
113
00:05:38.720 --> 00:05:42.000
to that. But the I series robot lawnmowers. Is this
114
00:05:42.160 --> 00:05:45.360
more for larger properties or smaller properties? I know you
115
00:05:45.399 --> 00:05:47.959
call the DIY meaning those who would cut their own
116
00:05:48.040 --> 00:05:49.759
grass rather than hire a gardener.
117
00:05:50.160 --> 00:05:54.439
Correct, These are designed for quarter acre lots and less
118
00:05:54.560 --> 00:05:55.439
on the I series.
119
00:05:55.959 --> 00:05:59.639
Okay, and what about slopes and obstacles, things where you
120
00:05:59.720 --> 00:06:02.480
don't want the robot to go into, like let's say
121
00:06:02.720 --> 00:06:06.040
a garden or something like that. Are there boundary wires
122
00:06:06.120 --> 00:06:07.000
or how does that work?
123
00:06:07.399 --> 00:06:10.920
No wires, It is all GPS and vision guided.
124
00:06:11.399 --> 00:06:14.319
Same with keeping it on your property. Let's say there's
125
00:06:14.399 --> 00:06:17.720
no fence and your line goes right to the sidewalk.
126
00:06:17.759 --> 00:06:19.839
You don't want it to go onto the sidewalk or
127
00:06:19.879 --> 00:06:22.800
maybe onto your neighbor's property if there's no fence, which
128
00:06:22.879 --> 00:06:25.199
might be the case on a front yard. So you
129
00:06:25.399 --> 00:06:27.519
set that in the app where it should not go.
130
00:06:27.839 --> 00:06:30.560
Yep, you'll virtually set a boundary for the robotic More so,
131
00:06:30.639 --> 00:06:33.199
you're setting a virtual fence for it to follow.
132
00:06:33.399 --> 00:06:35.000
Can you tell us a bit more about the fact
133
00:06:35.040 --> 00:06:37.399
that no ground wire is required. So I know with
134
00:06:37.439 --> 00:06:40.000
some other companies some of their models at the very
135
00:06:40.079 --> 00:06:43.759
least require someone to professionally install a cable or a
136
00:06:43.839 --> 00:06:48.120
wire above or just below the ground and it will
137
00:06:48.240 --> 00:06:51.680
keep that mower on the property. But that's not how
138
00:06:51.720 --> 00:06:54.319
yours works. It does work with line of sight to
139
00:06:54.439 --> 00:06:56.399
GPS satellites above the earth.
140
00:06:56.519 --> 00:06:57.079
You got it.
141
00:06:57.160 --> 00:07:00.160
We're chatting with Wayne Kryfels. He's head of sales for
142
00:07:00.199 --> 00:07:06.519
North America at Segue Navamo that's naviimow, like Mo the Liwne.
143
00:07:06.560 --> 00:07:09.279
They have the I series robotic lawn mower and soon
144
00:07:09.360 --> 00:07:12.639
the X series and previously the H series, so these
145
00:07:12.800 --> 00:07:16.800
will suit different budgets and lawn sizes. The Navamo Eye
146
00:07:16.839 --> 00:07:20.360
series is for small to medium sized lines and so
147
00:07:20.720 --> 00:07:24.360
does not require a ground wire. As you said, it's
148
00:07:24.399 --> 00:07:27.519
so theoretically easier to set up. I haven't tried it myself,
149
00:07:27.600 --> 00:07:30.120
but do you use the app to draw where it
150
00:07:30.120 --> 00:07:32.600
should be or how do you first initiate it? Because
151
00:07:32.600 --> 00:07:35.519
your lawn probably does not change over time, so you
152
00:07:35.600 --> 00:07:38.160
only need once to identify the areas you want it
153
00:07:38.199 --> 00:07:39.759
to cut and where you don't want it to go.
154
00:07:40.040 --> 00:07:43.879
Yeah, so you'll actually you'll pair to the robot and
155
00:07:43.920 --> 00:07:46.160
then you'll drive the robot around your property.
156
00:07:46.279 --> 00:07:47.839
And as you're driving it, it is.
157
00:07:47.839 --> 00:07:52.600
Virtually putting in the fence around your property. And then
158
00:07:52.720 --> 00:07:55.639
that there's a keepout zone such as a flower bed,
159
00:07:55.759 --> 00:07:57.480
oring like that, you'll drive it right around the flower
160
00:07:57.560 --> 00:08:00.560
bed and designate that as a as a key out zone,
161
00:08:00.800 --> 00:08:03.720
and you store the map. The map is always stored
162
00:08:03.879 --> 00:08:06.639
on your app and on your robot, so when it's
163
00:08:06.759 --> 00:08:09.120
when you task gets to go out, it knows exactly
164
00:08:09.199 --> 00:08:12.600
where to mow. And it also knows if you want
165
00:08:12.600 --> 00:08:14.920
to change directions of your of your mowing. So it
166
00:08:14.959 --> 00:08:16.680
never mows the same pattern twice.
167
00:08:16.959 --> 00:08:19.000
Does it leave a pattern on the grass or just
168
00:08:19.079 --> 00:08:19.720
it's random.
169
00:08:19.959 --> 00:08:22.839
No, it it does stripe. It's about every fourth.
170
00:08:22.720 --> 00:08:25.120
Or fifth time it'll it'll change its pattern, so you
171
00:08:25.199 --> 00:08:27.279
never have any were marks in your property.
172
00:08:27.480 --> 00:08:29.600
Are there safety features built in? Like let's say it
173
00:08:29.680 --> 00:08:32.039
runs into you know, a child, is there are the
174
00:08:32.080 --> 00:08:35.279
blades protected? Or what if it hits a toy or
175
00:08:35.279 --> 00:08:38.399
a garden gnome or something, does it turn around or
176
00:08:38.480 --> 00:08:39.200
what would happen?
177
00:08:39.360 --> 00:08:42.639
Yeah, So it does have vision on it, so if
178
00:08:42.679 --> 00:08:45.000
an animal or a child jumps out in front of it,
179
00:08:45.000 --> 00:08:48.120
it immediately shuts down. Or if somebody just walks by
180
00:08:48.240 --> 00:08:51.600
and grabs it, the blades immediately stop.
181
00:08:51.879 --> 00:08:54.960
There is there is really no chance to ever get
182
00:08:55.120 --> 00:08:55.679
get cut.
183
00:08:55.840 --> 00:08:59.960
And yeah, unlike traditional mowers, there not big heavy steel,
184
00:09:00.519 --> 00:09:02.919
tiny little razor blades undneath that cuts the.
185
00:09:02.879 --> 00:09:03.799
Grass all right.
186
00:09:03.919 --> 00:09:07.279
Speaking of if somebody picks it up, let's say you
187
00:09:07.360 --> 00:09:10.799
have a jealous neighbor who would like this for themselves. Yeah,
188
00:09:10.879 --> 00:09:13.600
are there any anti theft technologies built in?
189
00:09:13.960 --> 00:09:15.320
Yeah, well, two things happen.
190
00:09:15.360 --> 00:09:17.440
If it gets picked up, you get notified right away
191
00:09:17.480 --> 00:09:20.440
on your app, And if it leaves that virtual boundary
192
00:09:20.759 --> 00:09:24.720
that you drew out, it'll immediately sound an alarm on
193
00:09:24.840 --> 00:09:28.240
the robot and alert you again on your app. And
194
00:09:28.279 --> 00:09:31.399
then you could go into your maps and actually find
195
00:09:31.440 --> 00:09:33.399
out if it was your neighbor across.
196
00:09:33.080 --> 00:09:35.480
The street that took your lin more. Well, that's good
197
00:09:35.480 --> 00:09:37.519
to know. And what about battery life? I know with
198
00:09:37.559 --> 00:09:39.919
some of these robotic lawnmowers, when it's to Texas running
199
00:09:39.960 --> 00:09:42.200
low on battery, it'll drive itself back to the base,
200
00:09:42.440 --> 00:09:44.960
charge itself up and continue the job. Is that the
201
00:09:45.000 --> 00:09:46.759
same with the NAVMOI series.
202
00:09:47.320 --> 00:09:48.360
Yeah, one percent.
203
00:09:48.559 --> 00:09:51.279
It'll run itself down to about fifteen percent battery and
204
00:09:51.320 --> 00:09:53.639
then take it, take itself back to the charging station,
205
00:09:54.000 --> 00:09:56.120
get back to one hundred percent and go right where
206
00:09:56.159 --> 00:09:58.120
it's left off and finish the task for you.
207
00:09:58.440 --> 00:10:00.879
I mentioned earlier, most of these are for quiet. They're
208
00:10:00.960 --> 00:10:03.799
electric based and it's not like a loud gas based
209
00:10:03.840 --> 00:10:06.120
to the lawnmower. Is that the case here as well?
210
00:10:06.399 --> 00:10:09.440
Yeah, we could actually have a robotic mower going back
211
00:10:09.480 --> 00:10:12.159
and forth between you and I right now, and we
212
00:10:12.200 --> 00:10:13.399
wouldn't hardly ever hear it.
213
00:10:13.440 --> 00:10:16.039
Mowing wouldn't come through on the microphone. Very cool. Now,
214
00:10:16.960 --> 00:10:19.559
as we wrap up, Wayne, how much does the navamo
215
00:10:19.679 --> 00:10:22.600
I series cost and where is it available? Do you
216
00:10:22.600 --> 00:10:25.759
have retail support or do listeners order it directly online?
217
00:10:26.000 --> 00:10:26.240
Yeah?
218
00:10:26.240 --> 00:10:29.039
So we have dealers that are coming on board here
219
00:10:29.080 --> 00:10:30.799
in the US, and I think right now we have
220
00:10:30.879 --> 00:10:32.600
over one hundred as we speak today.
221
00:10:32.720 --> 00:10:34.639
You know, the price range anywhere from nine ninety nine
222
00:10:34.679 --> 00:10:36.440
to twelve ninety nine in the US.
223
00:10:36.840 --> 00:10:40.279
And what's the price differential there? Is it for larger property?
224
00:10:40.519 --> 00:10:40.799
Yeah?
225
00:10:40.879 --> 00:10:43.240
So the price differential is Yeah, you go from an
226
00:10:43.279 --> 00:10:46.039
eighth of an acre up to a quarter of an acre. Okay,
227
00:10:46.080 --> 00:10:50.320
so you're basically just changing the capacity of the mower
228
00:10:50.320 --> 00:10:50.919
and the battery.
229
00:10:51.200 --> 00:10:53.279
Got it. And then finally the best website.
230
00:10:52.919 --> 00:10:55.200
Once again, US dot Nammo dot com.
231
00:10:55.240 --> 00:10:58.519
Okay again, that's navi imow and it is part of
232
00:10:58.559 --> 00:11:01.120
the Segue family, like seriously, the same company that makes
233
00:11:01.159 --> 00:11:03.200
those Segue people movers as I called them.
234
00:11:03.440 --> 00:11:06.759
Absolutely so, every time we walk into places and we
235
00:11:07.120 --> 00:11:10.320
say Segue, everybody thinks of Paul Blart the Malka.
236
00:11:10.440 --> 00:11:14.200
Right, that's right. Goodnessual Wade, thank you so much for
237
00:11:14.240 --> 00:11:17.600
your time. Congrats on the upcoming launch of the X series.
238
00:11:17.679 --> 00:11:18.799
Very exciting, all the best.
239
00:11:18.919 --> 00:11:20.840
Thank you Mark for your time. I appreciate it.
240
00:11:21.000 --> 00:11:23.720
A lot more. Check it out coming right up after this.
241
00:11:24.200 --> 00:11:26.240
Listen to check it out whenever you want to find
242
00:11:26.279 --> 00:11:28.279
the check it Out podcast, did I too, or wherever
243
00:11:28.320 --> 00:11:39.440
you get your podcasts.
244
00:11:40.519 --> 00:11:42.960
Welcome back to check it out. If you're in the
245
00:11:43.000 --> 00:11:45.519
market for a new PC, There's never been a more
246
00:11:45.519 --> 00:11:50.639
exciting time thanks to extremely powerful devices infused with AI
247
00:11:50.960 --> 00:11:54.360
plus longer battery life than we've ever seen before, countless
248
00:11:54.399 --> 00:11:58.000
designs like touch and convertibles that can turn a laptop
249
00:11:58.039 --> 00:12:00.919
into a tablet, by simply bending it. They're stunning o
250
00:12:01.080 --> 00:12:05.080
lead displays and super thin and light form factors. As usual,
251
00:12:05.240 --> 00:12:08.600
Intel is leading the charge now with brand new Intel
252
00:12:08.679 --> 00:12:13.279
Core ULTRAPCS Series two laptops that are powering a new
253
00:12:13.320 --> 00:12:17.720
generation of portable PCs across more than twenty computer manufacturers.
254
00:12:17.759 --> 00:12:20.759
They can deliver much more performance, up to eighty percent
255
00:12:20.799 --> 00:12:24.480
more for gaming compared to last year's machines, yet amazingly
256
00:12:24.600 --> 00:12:27.120
consume up to fifty percent less power to do so.
257
00:12:27.240 --> 00:12:30.120
This translates to battery life of more than twenty hours
258
00:12:30.120 --> 00:12:33.879
with some applications. By fusing a CPU with a GPU
259
00:12:33.960 --> 00:12:38.080
for graphics and a new NPU or neuroprocessing unit, these
260
00:12:38.120 --> 00:12:41.960
Intel powered Windows eleven laptops are capable of delivering better
261
00:12:42.039 --> 00:12:46.039
AI experiences through Copilot Plus, including up to four times
262
00:12:46.080 --> 00:12:49.639
faster image generation compared to last year. Now available, these
263
00:12:49.679 --> 00:12:53.320
new Intel Core Ultra Series two laptops are branded with
264
00:12:53.440 --> 00:12:57.000
a two hundred V series naming convention to indicate it's
265
00:12:57.000 --> 00:13:00.679
a series two model. Intel dot com has more that's
266
00:13:00.759 --> 00:13:03.559
Intel dot Com. If your family is dealing with a
267
00:13:03.559 --> 00:13:08.440
whirlwind of schedules, homework and extracurricular activities, well you're certainly
268
00:13:08.480 --> 00:13:11.639
not alone, and so tech lifestyle expert Carly Noblock is
269
00:13:11.639 --> 00:13:13.679
here with us with a few of her must have
270
00:13:13.840 --> 00:13:18.039
tech ideas to help today's connected families. Hi Carly, thanks
271
00:13:18.080 --> 00:13:18.720
for joining us.
272
00:13:18.879 --> 00:13:21.120
Hi, Mark, It's always so great to be on your show.
273
00:13:21.279 --> 00:13:23.600
And yeah, I've partnered with a few brands today that
274
00:13:23.639 --> 00:13:25.480
I think are really going to help parents out with
275
00:13:25.559 --> 00:13:26.879
this crazy time of year.
276
00:13:27.039 --> 00:13:30.000
When I was reading that intro, it certainly is familiar
277
00:13:30.120 --> 00:13:31.919
because a lot of my friends were all, you know,
278
00:13:32.000 --> 00:13:33.879
running around, We're trying to do so much in the fall,
279
00:13:34.000 --> 00:13:37.759
juggling the family. So, with screen time being a big
280
00:13:37.799 --> 00:13:41.240
concern today, especially among parents when it comes to their kids,
281
00:13:41.360 --> 00:13:45.440
are there any healthier alternatives that parents can consider totally?
282
00:13:45.559 --> 00:13:47.120
And you know, if you're a mom like I am,
283
00:13:47.200 --> 00:13:49.840
or parent like you are concerned about how screen time
284
00:13:49.919 --> 00:13:52.200
is really affecting your kid's eye health and you know,
285
00:13:52.600 --> 00:13:55.720
also affecting my eye health as well. The good news
286
00:13:55.799 --> 00:13:58.919
is that more devices like these ones that I have
287
00:13:59.039 --> 00:14:03.480
here are available with healthier e inc E paper screens.
288
00:14:03.720 --> 00:14:07.039
The average person Mark spends a whopping seven hours a
289
00:14:07.120 --> 00:14:10.120
day looking at screens, so E paper really mimics the
290
00:14:10.159 --> 00:14:13.759
look of traditional paper, which reduces eyestrain and blue light
291
00:14:13.840 --> 00:14:17.080
exposure compared to those backlit LCDs, as you know, and
292
00:14:17.120 --> 00:14:20.639
then this tech really helps eliminate that harsh glare, the
293
00:14:20.759 --> 00:14:25.159
I fatigue, the disrupted sleep, so kids can really focus
294
00:14:25.320 --> 00:14:28.120
on learning and parents can kind of, you know, be
295
00:14:28.240 --> 00:14:31.120
less compromised to deal with the busyness of the season
296
00:14:31.159 --> 00:14:34.720
as well. So you know, it's absolutely something that will
297
00:14:34.759 --> 00:14:36.960
provide a lot of peace of mind for parents on
298
00:14:37.039 --> 00:14:39.120
behalf of kids. But parents can use them too.
299
00:14:39.279 --> 00:14:42.080
Yeah, good point. So e inc is the technology. I
300
00:14:42.080 --> 00:14:44.240
know they've been in e readers and things like that.
301
00:14:44.480 --> 00:14:47.000
Is this a particular company and you alluded to the
302
00:14:47.000 --> 00:14:48.720
fact that you're on a set right now. I know
303
00:14:48.759 --> 00:14:50.840
you're doing TV interviews. I'm going to plug a website
304
00:14:50.840 --> 00:14:53.240
where our listeners can actually see some of these products
305
00:14:53.240 --> 00:14:55.559
in action. But could you elaborate on what these e
306
00:14:55.679 --> 00:14:56.600
paper screens are.
307
00:14:56.960 --> 00:14:59.320
Yeah, so e inc Is the company, and then E
308
00:14:59.480 --> 00:15:02.600
paper screens is sort of the technology, and you've seen
309
00:15:02.639 --> 00:15:05.840
it in Amazon kindles and the Cobo books.
310
00:15:05.720 --> 00:15:08.600
And they're easier to read outside than a tablet.
311
00:15:08.320 --> 00:15:11.679
One hundred percent, and they just don't do all of
312
00:15:11.720 --> 00:15:15.080
those negative things to your brain and your eyes and
313
00:15:15.159 --> 00:15:17.159
So if your kids are going to be spending all
314
00:15:17.200 --> 00:15:20.200
this time on screens because they're using them now primarily
315
00:15:20.279 --> 00:15:22.360
for schoolwork, you know, perhaps when they come home and
316
00:15:22.399 --> 00:15:24.559
they need to do some reading, instead of just firing
317
00:15:24.679 --> 00:15:28.279
up a back lit tablet, you can have an alternative
318
00:15:28.320 --> 00:15:31.759
device that's less taxing on them. For more examples of
319
00:15:31.799 --> 00:15:34.440
the different screens, you can go to Healthier screen Time
320
00:15:34.720 --> 00:15:37.320
dot com and they have all kinds of products that
321
00:15:37.399 --> 00:15:39.000
you can take a look at and see what might
322
00:15:39.000 --> 00:15:40.559
be right for you and your family.
323
00:15:40.960 --> 00:15:45.399
Easy website to remember. Healthier screen Time dot Com Love it.
324
00:15:45.600 --> 00:15:48.759
And then next up Carly any clever finds to make
325
00:15:48.799 --> 00:15:50.200
our lives easier at home.
326
00:15:50.519 --> 00:15:53.759
Yes, you know, kids are back in school, parents are busy.
327
00:15:54.120 --> 00:15:57.679
Maybe we're not necessarily wanting to think about pest control,
328
00:15:57.759 --> 00:16:01.120
but we're all dealing with it at home, especially if
329
00:16:01.120 --> 00:16:04.440
it hasn't cooled off in your environment yet. The Zvo
330
00:16:04.639 --> 00:16:07.960
flying insect trap really solves this problem and it's just
331
00:16:07.960 --> 00:16:10.840
one less thing to worry about. So it's UV and
332
00:16:11.000 --> 00:16:13.759
blue light technology. This is an example where blue light's
333
00:16:13.759 --> 00:16:17.799
actually helpful because it attracts and traps those house flies,
334
00:16:17.879 --> 00:16:22.440
those fruit flies and gnats that nobody wants in their house. Plus,
335
00:16:22.519 --> 00:16:25.480
these guys are odorless, they're mess free, they're under twenty
336
00:16:25.519 --> 00:16:27.639
dollars and they just plug into the wall. And then
337
00:16:27.639 --> 00:16:30.600
for under thirty five dollars, the Zvo Max traps even
338
00:16:30.639 --> 00:16:33.240
more bugs by giving you the power of two traps
339
00:16:33.279 --> 00:16:35.639
in one. So it's got a larger footprint, but it's
340
00:16:35.639 --> 00:16:39.159
doing double the work. And it's five foot cord lets.
341
00:16:39.200 --> 00:16:41.759
You bring it to problem areas so it plugs in,
342
00:16:41.840 --> 00:16:43.720
but then you have got five feet so that you
343
00:16:43.720 --> 00:16:44.600
can move it around.
344
00:16:44.799 --> 00:16:46.000
So really cool products.
345
00:16:46.080 --> 00:16:49.080
Find out more about it zvoinsect dot com and you
346
00:16:49.080 --> 00:16:51.200
can find these all at mass retailers.
347
00:16:51.519 --> 00:16:55.960
If you've ever seen a microscopic image of these insects,
348
00:16:56.159 --> 00:16:58.759
it's nightmare inducing. Don't do it. If you see it
349
00:16:58.840 --> 00:17:01.159
online like, well, you know, one hundred times blown up
350
00:17:01.200 --> 00:17:04.000
of what a dust might do, looks like, yeah, don't
351
00:17:04.039 --> 00:17:08.039
do it. Yeah, So all right, so zvoinsect dot Com.
352
00:17:08.079 --> 00:17:10.720
And then Carly, you mentioned earlier about school being back
353
00:17:10.799 --> 00:17:13.759
in session and obviously kids are coming and going. What
354
00:17:13.880 --> 00:17:15.839
tech could give parents piece of mind?
355
00:17:15.960 --> 00:17:18.440
Well, you know, once the school days over, parents really
356
00:17:18.480 --> 00:17:20.799
want a way to keep an eye on kids at home.
357
00:17:20.960 --> 00:17:24.359
Even if they are still at work. So Egobe's Total
358
00:17:24.440 --> 00:17:27.759
Security and Savings Bundle can help you do just that.

It includes their smart doorbell camera, their smart thermostat Premium,
360
00:17:32.720 --> 00:17:36.519
and smart sensors plus one year of home monitoring. I
361
00:17:36.559 --> 00:17:38.319
love how you can get an alert on your phone
362
00:17:38.359 --> 00:17:40.720
when your kids get home, which is instant piece of
363
00:17:40.759 --> 00:17:43.119
mind for parents, and you can talk to them through
364
00:17:43.119 --> 00:17:45.240
the two way talk on the doorbell also so you
365
00:17:45.279 --> 00:17:47.400
can make sure that they're getting going on their homework
366
00:17:47.440 --> 00:17:50.000
and that they found the snagula for them, or you know,
367
00:17:50.119 --> 00:17:52.599
just have that little back and forth before they start
368
00:17:52.680 --> 00:17:53.839
the rest of their afternoon.
369
00:17:54.119 --> 00:17:57.039
Fun fact, this is the company behind the very first
370
00:17:57.039 --> 00:18:00.519
Wi Fi thermostat, long before Google and On and other
371
00:18:00.519 --> 00:18:03.319
folks did it. Ecob dot com for the Total Security
372
00:18:03.359 --> 00:18:06.400
and Savings Bundle. A little bit more with Carly Noblock

00:18:36.400 --> 00:18:38.920
author and TV personality Mark Saltzman.
380
00:18:39.880 --> 00:18:42.559
Welcome back to check it out. Everyone. We are chatting
381
00:18:42.559 --> 00:18:45.960
with Carly Noblock, tech lifestyle expert, joining us to talk
382
00:18:46.039 --> 00:18:49.839
about some tech ideas to help today's connected parents. With
383
00:18:49.920 --> 00:18:52.279
that in mind, I understand you have a solution for
384
00:18:52.400 --> 00:18:55.440
signing all of those school forms that many of our
385
00:18:55.440 --> 00:18:57.400
listeners are inundated with right now.
386
00:18:57.720 --> 00:19:00.640
Yes, this is the most daunting part of back to
387
00:19:00.720 --> 00:19:03.960
school is all the paperwork, the permission slips, the after
388
00:19:04.039 --> 00:19:07.000
school programs, the medical forums. I don't know why more
389
00:19:07.039 --> 00:19:09.039
of these things aren't online and why they don't make
390
00:19:09.079 --> 00:19:12.720
it easier. But with the DocuSign app, you can manage
391
00:19:12.759 --> 00:19:15.359
it all effortlessly. With just a few taps on your
392
00:19:15.359 --> 00:19:18.680
phone or your tablet. You can fill out, sign and
393
00:19:18.799 --> 00:19:22.839
send back documents securely from wherever you are, whether you're
394
00:19:22.880 --> 00:19:25.000
emailing them or storing them in the cloud. The whole
395
00:19:25.039 --> 00:19:28.799
process is fast, it's simple, and the best part is
396
00:19:28.880 --> 00:19:32.519
it's completely free and you can head to DocuSign dot
397
00:19:32.519 --> 00:19:34.920
com to download the app or just learn more.
398
00:19:35.079 --> 00:19:37.920
Before DocuSign, it was always a four step process that
399
00:19:38.000 --> 00:19:41.200
was so annoying. You had to print the email, sign it,
400
00:19:41.599 --> 00:19:45.039
scan it, and then email it back to the school,
401
00:19:45.200 --> 00:19:47.640
you know, so really frustrating, all right. And then as
402
00:19:47.720 --> 00:19:49.920
we wrap up, Carly, I understand you have a laptop
403
00:19:50.039 --> 00:19:52.079
that you could suggest for the family.
404
00:19:51.759 --> 00:19:54.319
For the fall I do, and this is, you know,
405
00:19:54.359 --> 00:19:56.880
great for kids, great for parents, great for anyone. It's
406
00:19:56.960 --> 00:20:00.119
well priced, it's lightweight, it's got a long lasting battery,
407
00:20:00.160 --> 00:20:03.880
and it's the Asus Vivo Book S fifteen. It's got
408
00:20:03.920 --> 00:20:07.240
nineteen hours of battery life, a sleek metal body with
409
00:20:07.400 --> 00:20:10.519
military grade durability so your kids can drop it and
410
00:20:11.519 --> 00:20:14.680
it's gonna last. And their OLED screen gives you incredible
411
00:20:14.759 --> 00:20:18.880
visuals in any environment, low light or direct light. Plus
412
00:20:19.039 --> 00:20:23.000
super easy access to AI tools like a dedicated Microsoft
413
00:20:23.079 --> 00:20:26.599
Copilot key right there on the keyboard, and the Asus
414
00:20:26.640 --> 00:20:30.000
exclusive story Cube app that helps you manage all your photos,
415
00:20:30.240 --> 00:20:33.279
videos and files with ease. And I know parents are
416
00:20:33.640 --> 00:20:37.359
inundated with organizing all of those things as well. So
417
00:20:37.720 --> 00:20:40.200
you can find this laptop at best Buy. It's a
418
00:20:40.200 --> 00:20:40.960
good one, all right.
419
00:20:41.000 --> 00:20:43.880
So it's the Vivo Book S fifteen from Asus. I'm
420
00:20:43.880 --> 00:20:46.279
talking to you on an Asus laptop right now. And
421
00:20:46.359 --> 00:20:48.599
I was at the company's event in Berlin at EPHA
422
00:20:48.839 --> 00:20:52.240
where they were showing their next generation laptops powered by AI.
423
00:20:52.400 --> 00:20:55.200
So great stuff, amazing brand. So for all of these
424
00:20:55.240 --> 00:20:58.119
items that you've been chatting about, Carly, we didn't mention
425
00:20:58.240 --> 00:21:01.200
pricing for some of them. It's the website for us
426
00:21:01.200 --> 00:21:03.920
to see these in action and grab links to buy
427
00:21:03.960 --> 00:21:05.400
them and read more about them.
428
00:21:05.480 --> 00:21:05.759
Yeah.
429
00:21:05.799 --> 00:21:08.559
For more information on everything I covered, including those links
430
00:21:08.559 --> 00:21:10.799
and prices and all of that, you can just head
431
00:21:10.799 --> 00:21:13.279
over to in thenews dot tv.
432
00:21:13.640 --> 00:21:17.359
All right, inthnews dot tv. Carly has been our guest.
433
00:21:17.400 --> 00:21:19.759
Carly Noblock, thanks so much for your time, Carly, always
434
00:21:19.759 --> 00:21:20.519
great to chat with you.
435
00:21:20.720 --> 00:21:21.119
Thank you.
436
00:21:21.240 --> 00:21:24.279
Mark. Samsung held an event in New York last week
437
00:21:24.359 --> 00:21:27.799
to officially unveil new devices ahead of the holiday season,
438
00:21:28.000 --> 00:21:30.960
each of which is powered by Galaxy AI. To tell
439
00:21:31.039 --> 00:21:33.920
us about the new Galaxy tab S ten series tablets,
440
00:21:34.119 --> 00:21:37.839
the Galaxy S twenty four FE smartphone, and new Galaxy
441
00:21:37.920 --> 00:21:40.839
Watch FE lt E. Who better to chat with than
442
00:21:40.880 --> 00:21:45.599
Drew Blackert, VP of Mobile Product Management for Samsung Electronics America. Hi, Drew,
443
00:21:45.640 --> 00:21:47.400
good to chat with you again. Hey Mark, good to
444
00:21:47.440 --> 00:21:49.559
see you at a high level. Please share with us
445
00:21:49.599 --> 00:21:52.720
the big announcements from last week, starting with the Galaxy
446
00:21:52.799 --> 00:21:54.519
tab S ten series.
447
00:21:54.839 --> 00:21:57.799
Sure well, the Galaxy tab S ten plus n S
448
00:21:57.839 --> 00:22:00.240
ten Ultra are the two products that we announced, and
449
00:22:00.319 --> 00:22:03.000
we're really excited about it because it represents the flagship
450
00:22:03.079 --> 00:22:06.880
tablet experience from Samsung, and so with that users will
451
00:22:06.920 --> 00:22:10.599
get powerful new hardware performance. But with that all of
452
00:22:10.599 --> 00:22:13.880
the great Galaxy AI experiences, and in particular, I think
453
00:22:14.000 --> 00:22:16.200
you know highlights that I could speak to. One is
454
00:22:16.240 --> 00:22:19.920
a powerful new processor and so your over year consumers
455
00:22:19.920 --> 00:22:23.079
will see an improvement in the CPU capability which is
456
00:22:23.119 --> 00:22:27.119
the performance driven capability, the GPU capability which is for
457
00:22:27.200 --> 00:22:30.920
graphics and gaming, and the NPU, which is what drives
458
00:22:31.000 --> 00:22:35.599
AI processing. So consumers overall will get better AI and
459
00:22:35.680 --> 00:22:40.279
gaming experiences. The gaming in particular, again, that GPU is
460
00:22:41.119 --> 00:22:44.839
really optimized for optimal performance, so if you're playing intensive
461
00:22:44.880 --> 00:22:49.119
games that have higher frame rates, that it'll maintain the
462
00:22:49.160 --> 00:22:52.319
frame rates really well. There's also a new expanded vapor
463
00:22:52.400 --> 00:22:55.359
chamber which allows for the cooling of the system, so
464
00:22:55.359 --> 00:22:58.359
when you're playing intense games, if you don't have a
465
00:22:58.480 --> 00:23:01.599
great cooling, it can and slow down and lag, which
466
00:23:01.640 --> 00:23:04.079
ultimately affects your gaming performance. So you can think of
467
00:23:04.079 --> 00:23:05.680
these as the ultimate gaming.
468
00:23:05.440 --> 00:23:06.759
Tablets out there.
469
00:23:06.839 --> 00:23:08.759
And then on top of that, for consumers that are
470
00:23:08.799 --> 00:23:12.599
just looking for entertainment, whether that be gaming, streaming media,
471
00:23:12.680 --> 00:23:15.200
or other we have a new anti reflective screen that's
472
00:23:15.240 --> 00:23:18.519
incredible for both indoor and outdoor viewing of content. So
473
00:23:18.519 --> 00:23:21.559
if you're outside on a sunny day or indoor under
474
00:23:21.799 --> 00:23:24.119
an intense light, you'll be able to see the screen
475
00:23:24.200 --> 00:23:26.960
really easily without that lair, so that whatever you're doing,
476
00:23:27.000 --> 00:23:31.480
whether it's gaming, entertainment, or productivity, it's really a great
477
00:23:31.519 --> 00:23:32.480
overall experience.
478
00:23:32.720 --> 00:23:35.640
All right. So you mentioned the NPU and neuroprocessing unit,
479
00:23:35.680 --> 00:23:38.160
which adds NOW to the CPU, which is I guess
480
00:23:38.200 --> 00:23:41.920
generally the engine that drives your device's performance and the
481
00:23:42.039 --> 00:23:45.559
GPU for graphics important for gamers for example. But AI,
482
00:23:45.759 --> 00:23:48.640
so that's now integrated into tablets. We'll chat in a
483
00:23:48.680 --> 00:23:51.680
moment about the new Galaxy smartphone and smart watch, but
484
00:23:51.720 --> 00:23:53.599
can you tell us a bit more about what you
485
00:23:53.599 --> 00:23:56.160
can do with AI on the Galaxy tab S ten
486
00:23:56.319 --> 00:23:58.079
Ultra and the S ten Plus.
487
00:23:58.359 --> 00:24:01.160
Sure. I think it starts with just having that larger screen.
488
00:24:01.319 --> 00:24:04.799
It's a larger canvas to create with, and so I
489
00:24:04.799 --> 00:24:06.960
think some of the things that we focused on is
490
00:24:06.960 --> 00:24:09.319
how can you use that large screen and take advantage
491
00:24:09.359 --> 00:24:11.839
of Galaxy AI features in a new way. So one
492
00:24:11.920 --> 00:24:14.920
that we're really excited about is called sketched Image. This
493
00:24:15.000 --> 00:24:18.960
allows you to basically do a hand drawn sketch of
494
00:24:19.079 --> 00:24:22.319
any sort and then with Generative AI create an image
495
00:24:22.359 --> 00:24:24.160
out of that. So this is one my kids actually
496
00:24:24.319 --> 00:24:26.559
steal my device to use because it's so much fun.
497
00:24:26.599 --> 00:24:29.000
But you can do you know, little drawings and doodles
498
00:24:29.000 --> 00:24:32.279
and it turns it into different options of either watercolor,
499
00:24:32.319 --> 00:24:34.519
three D R or even pop art and things like that.
500
00:24:34.599 --> 00:24:37.200
So that one was really fun from a creativity perspective.
501
00:24:37.359 --> 00:24:41.400
Yeah, I tried that on the Galaxy z FOLL device. Yeah, exactly,
502
00:24:41.640 --> 00:24:43.640
was unveiled this summer and that was so fun to
503
00:24:43.759 --> 00:24:47.519
use the stylists and draw something with my poor artistic
504
00:24:47.559 --> 00:24:50.680
skills and black thereof, and created this amazing image in
505
00:24:50.720 --> 00:24:51.559
a couple of seconds.
506
00:24:51.799 --> 00:24:53.039
You can do it with a tableat and I think
507
00:24:53.079 --> 00:24:55.200
the cool part here is you have that larger screen
508
00:24:55.279 --> 00:24:57.240
to take advantage of, so you can really kind of
509
00:24:57.240 --> 00:24:59.039
detail out the drawing in a different way. And of
510
00:24:59.039 --> 00:25:01.920
course these devices with an spin and box, so you'll
511
00:25:01.920 --> 00:25:05.319
be able to use the spen to do a finer drawing,
512
00:25:05.519 --> 00:25:08.759
of which it'll build off of a the generative capability,
513
00:25:08.960 --> 00:25:11.160
and so you know, another one is circle to Search,
514
00:25:11.200 --> 00:25:13.559
which we've announced on our previous devices, so it's on
515
00:25:13.640 --> 00:25:17.640
smartphones today, but that allows you to circle anything on
516
00:25:17.680 --> 00:25:20.279
the screen that you can see and then immediately get
517
00:25:20.400 --> 00:25:23.079
results based on what that is. And so if you
518
00:25:23.119 --> 00:25:26.359
see like a food dish, for example, if you're you know,
519
00:25:26.559 --> 00:25:31.000
browsing maybe Instagram and you see a dish that you're
520
00:25:31.039 --> 00:25:33.240
really interested in, you forget what it's called. You can
521
00:25:33.440 --> 00:25:35.839
do circle to search, where you long hold the home
522
00:25:35.920 --> 00:25:38.519
key and just circle the image and then it'll give
523
00:25:38.519 --> 00:25:41.200
you real time results of not only what that is,
524
00:25:41.359 --> 00:25:43.960
but if it's if there's recipes online that you can make,
525
00:25:44.000 --> 00:25:46.599
if there's restaurants nearby that serve that dish. So that's
526
00:25:46.599 --> 00:25:48.720
a really cool one again that you know we've had,
527
00:25:48.759 --> 00:25:52.079
but the optimized experience for the larger screen tablet form
528
00:25:52.119 --> 00:25:54.599
factor really brings it to life in a new way.
529
00:25:54.680 --> 00:25:57.039
That's super convenient. I've also played around with that on
530
00:25:57.160 --> 00:26:01.599
mobile phones for sure. From Samsung Minutes with Drew Blackert
531
00:26:01.599 --> 00:26:05.160
from Samsung Electronics America when we return on tech it
532
00:26:05.160 --> 00:26:08.319
Out to learn more about these new devices and the
533
00:26:08.359 --> 00:26:11.960
AI experiences you can expect even if you don't think
534
00:26:12.079 --> 00:26:15.319
you want or like AI. These are really super powerful
535
00:26:15.319 --> 00:26:18.000
and free tools, which we'll hear more about when we return.
536
00:26:18.160 --> 00:26:19.759
Fun check it out, stay.
537
00:26:19.559 --> 00:26:23.559
With us breaking down GeekSpeak into street speak. Check it
538
00:26:23.599 --> 00:26:34.759
Out hosted by Mark Saltzman.
539
00:26:36.559 --> 00:26:39.359
Welcome back to check it out. Before we continue on
540
00:26:39.519 --> 00:26:43.519
chatting with Drew Blackert from Samsung Electronics America about new
541
00:26:43.519 --> 00:26:47.039
devices and the AI tools built into them. Just a
542
00:26:47.119 --> 00:26:51.160
quick shout out to Visa. We cover cybersecurity a lot
543
00:26:51.240 --> 00:26:53.759
on this program and how you can best protect yourself
544
00:26:53.799 --> 00:26:56.519
in the digital age, even if you're not super tech savvy.
545
00:26:56.680 --> 00:26:59.880
One part of the solution is securely shopping online, and
546
00:27:00.079 --> 00:27:03.119
so I'm thrilled about my partnership with Visa on tech
547
00:27:03.160 --> 00:27:06.319
it Out, as they've made some significant investments in fraud
548
00:27:06.400 --> 00:27:09.640
prevention over the past five years, as much as ten
549
00:27:09.799 --> 00:27:13.079
billion dollars yes that's billion with a B, to support
550
00:27:13.160 --> 00:27:17.240
Visa's brand promise to protect the financial information of individuals
551
00:27:17.279 --> 00:27:20.839
and businesses. Zero liability means peace of mind when you
552
00:27:20.880 --> 00:27:23.480
shop online using your Visa card. There can be no
553
00:27:23.599 --> 00:27:26.720
half measures when it comes to cybersecurity, which is why
554
00:27:26.720 --> 00:27:29.640
the company takes an aggressive and multi layered approach to
555
00:27:29.720 --> 00:27:33.480
combating the rising threat of malicious software and other threats
556
00:27:33.480 --> 00:27:37.000
by well funded and global criminal enterprises. Read more about
557
00:27:37.119 --> 00:27:40.359
Visa and how securing the world's payments is priority one
558
00:27:40.519 --> 00:27:44.880
at Visa dot com slash Security. That's Visa dot Com
559
00:27:44.920 --> 00:27:49.160
slash Security, phones, tablets, and watches. Oh my, we are
560
00:27:49.240 --> 00:27:52.599
chatting with Drew blackerd VP of Mobile Product Management for
561
00:27:52.680 --> 00:27:57.880
Samsung Electronics America, continuing our chat about Galaxy AI powered devices,
562
00:27:58.000 --> 00:28:01.079
whether it's the new Galaxy tab s ten series tablets,
563
00:28:01.200 --> 00:28:04.400
the S twenty four F E or Fan edition smartphone,
564
00:28:04.480 --> 00:28:07.359
and the Galaxy Watch F E L T E. We
565
00:28:07.480 --> 00:28:11.440
are unpacking some of the AI features and speaking of which,
566
00:28:11.599 --> 00:28:13.880
one more before we move on, is called air Command
567
00:28:14.079 --> 00:28:14.519
with AI.
568
00:28:14.839 --> 00:28:17.119
Yeah, I mean air Command is driven through the spin
569
00:28:17.200 --> 00:28:19.680
and so you actually, you know, can just click the
570
00:28:19.720 --> 00:28:22.839
spin button and it brings up different options for AI,
571
00:28:22.960 --> 00:28:25.480
so sketched images in there and or others. And then
572
00:28:25.519 --> 00:28:28.920
we have new features as well that are unique and
573
00:28:28.960 --> 00:28:31.880
launching on this product. So within Samsung Notes, for example,
574
00:28:31.920 --> 00:28:34.720
because tablets are such great note taking devices, and because
575
00:28:34.720 --> 00:28:38.119
we had the spin on board, there's a new AI
576
00:28:38.240 --> 00:28:41.720
driven notes handwriting alignment feature, so it can turn your
577
00:28:41.759 --> 00:28:45.240
messy quick notes into you know, more polished, refined notes,
578
00:28:45.279 --> 00:28:47.400
and it does it in real time as you're writing,
579
00:28:47.440 --> 00:28:48.279
which is really cool.
580
00:28:48.559 --> 00:28:51.000
So now let's hear about the new Galaxy S twenty
581
00:28:51.079 --> 00:28:54.039
four F E. I believe that stands for a fan edition.
582
00:28:54.359 --> 00:28:58.000
What makes this new smartphone refresh a worthy device?
583
00:28:58.279 --> 00:29:01.200
Well, I think overall, you know, again, with Galaxy AI,
584
00:29:01.240 --> 00:29:03.319
we'll bring all the features that we just talked about
585
00:29:03.400 --> 00:29:05.599
down the lineup into our FI edition. So this is
586
00:29:05.640 --> 00:29:09.240
our first FT model that launches with Galaxy AI. We
587
00:29:09.319 --> 00:29:12.519
did update last year's model with a handful of.
588
00:29:12.480 --> 00:29:15.000
Features, this one will include the full.
589
00:29:14.720 --> 00:29:17.000
Feature set, and part of that that's because it has
590
00:29:17.000 --> 00:29:19.720
a brand new processor that's super powerful, so you know,
591
00:29:19.759 --> 00:29:23.359
consumers looking for that flagship experience performance will get a
592
00:29:23.400 --> 00:29:27.599
new processor year over year. There's also a bigger, brighter screen, bigger,
593
00:29:27.720 --> 00:29:31.119
longer lasting battery, and so all of those key essentials
594
00:29:31.160 --> 00:29:34.279
that consumers tend to look for in a flagship experience
595
00:29:34.480 --> 00:29:38.480
battery life, amazing screen, great camera. The F model packs
596
00:29:38.519 --> 00:29:41.759
all of that in but a really nice value for
597
00:29:41.839 --> 00:29:44.920
the consumer. So it's kind of our entry flagship model overall,
598
00:29:45.039 --> 00:29:47.960
so we're able to again take a lot of those
599
00:29:48.079 --> 00:29:50.599
great new software features with Galaxy AI and bring them
600
00:29:50.599 --> 00:29:52.720
into a more accessible price point.
601
00:29:52.960 --> 00:29:54.559
Awesome. I'm going to ask you in a moment for
602
00:29:54.720 --> 00:29:57.599
pricing and availability what website we can go to to
603
00:29:57.680 --> 00:29:59.680
learn all that. I know there's some pretty aggressive trade
604
00:29:59.720 --> 00:30:02.440
in as well. But before that, and as we wrap up,
605
00:30:02.720 --> 00:30:06.720
there's also the latest Galaxy Watch FE. It's an LT model,
606
00:30:06.720 --> 00:30:08.759
which means it's not just Wi Fi, but with an
607
00:30:08.759 --> 00:30:11.000
optional mobile phone plan. You can take it with you
608
00:30:11.079 --> 00:30:12.759
to go leave your phone behind if you're going for
609
00:30:12.839 --> 00:30:15.319
say a jog around the neighborhood. So it is designed
610
00:30:15.400 --> 00:30:17.720
for those, from what I understand, who want to improve
611
00:30:17.759 --> 00:30:21.240
their overall wellness. And if so, how is it achieving
612
00:30:21.279 --> 00:30:22.119
this exactly?
613
00:30:22.119 --> 00:30:24.119
I think well, as you mentioned, the fact that it
614
00:30:24.119 --> 00:30:26.400
has LTE is really cool because now you can go
615
00:30:26.519 --> 00:30:29.400
for a run, leave your phone at home, and you
616
00:30:29.440 --> 00:30:32.480
can still even take a phone call if it comes
617
00:30:32.519 --> 00:30:33.079
in over the.
618
00:30:33.000 --> 00:30:34.480
Air, or retext messages.
619
00:30:34.720 --> 00:30:37.240
Exactly. It gives you the flexibility to be kind of
620
00:30:37.279 --> 00:30:39.720
dialed into the exercise that you're doing without having to
621
00:30:39.759 --> 00:30:42.079
be tethered to a phone at that point. But what
622
00:30:42.119 --> 00:30:44.599
we're doing in addition to that, is bringing a lot
623
00:30:44.640 --> 00:30:47.839
of the Galaxy Ai Health features that we announced with
624
00:30:48.519 --> 00:30:51.599
the Watch seven and the Watch Ultra down to the
625
00:30:51.720 --> 00:30:52.279
FE model.
626
00:30:52.359 --> 00:30:53.880
So that's things like energy.
627
00:30:53.640 --> 00:30:56.559
Score, taking a lot of your biometric data over the
628
00:30:56.559 --> 00:30:58.680
course of both the day and the night, because we
629
00:30:58.720 --> 00:31:01.200
have sleep tracking as well, and it's kind of computing
630
00:31:01.240 --> 00:31:04.079
that based on your activity level as well as how
631
00:31:04.119 --> 00:31:07.039
well you slept the night before, and computing energy scores
632
00:31:07.039 --> 00:31:09.160
that help you gauge how intents of a workout you're
633
00:31:09.160 --> 00:31:10.880
going to be able to do and how much recovery
634
00:31:10.880 --> 00:31:13.279
time you need. Things like that that really help you
635
00:31:13.559 --> 00:31:16.319
dial into to your own health and performance. It'll have
636
00:31:16.480 --> 00:31:19.799
sleep tracking as well, which allows you to really get
637
00:31:19.839 --> 00:31:23.039
deeper insights about how you're sleeping and understand things that
638
00:31:23.119 --> 00:31:26.160
affect how you're sleeping so that you can optimize that
639
00:31:26.319 --> 00:31:28.599
over time so that you can wake up healthy and
640
00:31:29.160 --> 00:31:31.720
ready to go well slept every day. And on top
641
00:31:31.759 --> 00:31:37.279
of that, we're bringing in personalized actionable tips into Samsung Health,
642
00:31:37.319 --> 00:31:39.240
which is the application that you go in to kind
643
00:31:39.240 --> 00:31:41.279
of read out all this data, and so it's taking
644
00:31:41.319 --> 00:31:43.640
all of the data that you're collecting over the course
645
00:31:43.680 --> 00:31:46.960
of the day and using you know, kind of on
646
00:31:47.000 --> 00:31:49.480
the back end assessing what are the different things that
647
00:31:49.519 --> 00:31:51.680
you can do to better optimize these things. So I
648
00:31:51.680 --> 00:31:54.440
think all that together makes it a really great way
649
00:31:54.839 --> 00:31:58.559
for people who are either interested in more intense workout
650
00:31:58.559 --> 00:32:01.200
tracking and you know, things like you know, athletes that
651
00:32:01.240 --> 00:32:03.559
are tracking runs and bike rides and things like that,
652
00:32:03.799 --> 00:32:06.480
or to people who are more generally looking to just
653
00:32:06.599 --> 00:32:08.559
get a little bit healthier and tips along.
654
00:32:08.359 --> 00:32:09.440
The way about how to do that.
655
00:32:09.559 --> 00:32:11.880
Awesome, All right, Drue. We've been chatting with Drew blackerd
656
00:32:11.960 --> 00:32:15.640
VP of Mobile Product Management for Samsung Electronics America, for
657
00:32:15.720 --> 00:32:19.359
our listeners who want to read the pricing and availability
658
00:32:19.440 --> 00:32:23.039
of these new devices, specifically the Galaxy tab S ten
659
00:32:23.160 --> 00:32:27.240
series tablets, the Galaxy S twenty four FE smartphone Fan Edition,
660
00:32:27.440 --> 00:32:30.759
and Galaxy Watch f E LTE. What's the best place
661
00:32:30.799 --> 00:32:32.039
to learn more, Well, that's.
662
00:32:31.960 --> 00:32:32.480
An easy one.
663
00:32:32.480 --> 00:32:34.799
You can go to Samsung dot com. All right, Samsung
664
00:32:34.880 --> 00:32:37.160
dot com. All the pricing is there, the trade in
665
00:32:37.240 --> 00:32:40.279
offers and links and videos and photos and all that. Drew,
666
00:32:40.319 --> 00:32:42.880
great to chat with you. Congrats on the announcement and
667
00:32:42.960 --> 00:32:44.200
launch of these new devices.
668
00:32:44.240 --> 00:32:45.640
All right. Thanks Mark, appreciate it.
669
00:32:45.720 --> 00:32:48.319
I just wrote a pair of two thousand word articles
670
00:32:48.359 --> 00:32:51.720
for USA Today about AI. Do people really want it?
671
00:32:51.759 --> 00:32:54.319
Do they understand it? I interviewed people outside of a
672
00:32:54.359 --> 00:32:56.920
Best Buy and so one of the articles looks at
673
00:32:56.960 --> 00:33:00.799
the Samsung devices as well as AIPC and the like.
674
00:33:00.880 --> 00:33:03.599
So I'll mention that on the air when those articles
675
00:33:03.640 --> 00:33:06.480
are published. When we return on tech it Out, I
676
00:33:06.519 --> 00:33:09.319
will share some small business ideas to help you get
677
00:33:09.359 --> 00:33:11.279
a leg up on the competition. Stick with us, We'll
678
00:33:11.319 --> 00:33:11.839
be right back.
679
00:33:12.240 --> 00:33:15.599
Follow Mark Saltzman on Facebook, on Twitter, on Instagram, Listen
680
00:33:15.599 --> 00:33:32.920
to check it out whenever you want.
681
00:33:27.319 --> 00:33:27.440
So.
682
00:33:27.480 --> 00:33:29.440
As I mentioned earlier in the show, I had a
683
00:33:29.480 --> 00:33:32.400
lot of fun on Friday of last week in New
684
00:33:32.480 --> 00:33:35.839
York at Next Millennium Productions, a studio where I was
685
00:33:35.880 --> 00:33:40.160
broadcasting live doing hits across the country, talking about small
686
00:33:40.200 --> 00:33:43.480
business technology as we head into the fall, some tools
687
00:33:43.519 --> 00:33:46.759
and technologies to help give your small business and edge,
688
00:33:46.799 --> 00:33:48.720
and so I wanted to share a few of those
689
00:33:48.759 --> 00:33:51.440
suggestions with you. Some are more techy than others. In fact,
690
00:33:51.440 --> 00:33:54.279
I'm going to start with financial services, something that can
691
00:33:54.319 --> 00:33:56.559
be a real pain point for many businesses where they
692
00:33:56.640 --> 00:33:59.160
want to outsource this instead of trying to tackle it themselves.
693
00:33:59.200 --> 00:34:01.319
They want to just focus on their business and not
694
00:34:01.440 --> 00:34:04.799
wrestle with things like payroll or bookkeeping. So I would
695
00:34:04.880 --> 00:34:08.840
recommend Block Advisors bookkeeping from H and R Block because
696
00:34:08.920 --> 00:34:12.159
it starts just thirty nine dollars a month, and that
697
00:34:12.320 --> 00:34:14.880
means you don't have to break the bank on professional services.
698
00:34:14.920 --> 00:34:17.199
And that's for a self serve option, but for starting
699
00:34:17.239 --> 00:34:19.079
it only one seventy five a month, you can get
700
00:34:19.079 --> 00:34:22.840
a dedicated accountant that's up to half off typical accountant
701
00:34:23.039 --> 00:34:26.760
rates with Block Advisors payroll. If you do have some employees,
702
00:34:26.880 --> 00:34:30.039
starting at only fifty nine dollars a month, Block Advisors
703
00:34:30.119 --> 00:34:33.159
will give you access to a dedicated accountant, their standard
704
00:34:33.159 --> 00:34:37.000
reporting and guided setup for your single state payroll needs.
705
00:34:37.280 --> 00:34:41.320
Now here's something to help businesses grow. You probably already
706
00:34:41.559 --> 00:34:44.360
use next Door. They've been a guest on my show
707
00:34:44.360 --> 00:34:47.239
many times over the years. This is that incredibly popular
708
00:34:47.440 --> 00:34:50.960
neighborhood centric social media platform. In fact, one in three
709
00:34:51.079 --> 00:34:54.519
US households are already here. So why isn't your small
710
00:34:54.559 --> 00:34:57.559
business Well, seventy nine percent of neighbors said that they're
711
00:34:57.599 --> 00:35:01.159
influenced by a business recommendation on next Store, ranking the
712
00:35:01.199 --> 00:35:04.480
platform as the number one place for local recommendations. And
713
00:35:04.639 --> 00:35:07.239
here's the real good news. You can claim a free
714
00:35:07.400 --> 00:35:10.519
business page on next Store to unlock an instant following
715
00:35:10.559 --> 00:35:13.440
and turn your neighbors into customers. Again, it doesn't cost
716
00:35:13.480 --> 00:35:16.199
anything and no need to spend time building your followers
717
00:35:16.280 --> 00:35:19.639
because your neighbors are already on next Store. As I mentioned,
718
00:35:19.760 --> 00:35:22.440
head on over to business dot nextdoor dot com to
719
00:35:22.559 --> 00:35:25.840
learn more next Up. Small businesses can also benefit from
720
00:35:25.880 --> 00:35:30.320
powerful tools to remain productive and competitive and yes, profitable,
721
00:35:30.440 --> 00:35:33.599
and AI can really help here too. Lenovo's new think
722
00:35:33.639 --> 00:35:37.440
Pad T fourteen S Gen six laptop is an industry
723
00:35:37.519 --> 00:35:41.480
leading AIPC with that built in copilot plus and a
724
00:35:41.519 --> 00:35:45.000
dedicated button to launch that AI assistant so you can
725
00:35:45.039 --> 00:35:48.239
create images just by typing into prompts and using that
726
00:35:48.280 --> 00:35:51.039
for free. By the way, on your website or marketing materials,
727
00:35:51.119 --> 00:35:53.880
you can get help with coding and generate action items
728
00:35:53.880 --> 00:35:58.039
from meetings thanks to instant summaries and translations. This PC
729
00:35:58.239 --> 00:36:03.000
also delivers extreme power efficiency with true multi day battery life.
730
00:36:03.039 --> 00:36:05.800
Even though battery life may not be the sexiest of features.
731
00:36:05.800 --> 00:36:08.880
When you're shopping for a new laptop. It's incredibly important,
732
00:36:08.920 --> 00:36:10.719
and I can say that as someone who travels quite
733
00:36:10.719 --> 00:36:13.559
a bit for work. And finally, that ThinkPad T fourteen
734
00:36:13.760 --> 00:36:16.599
s it's got the lowest carbon footprint in the entire
735
00:36:16.719 --> 00:36:19.719
ThinkPad portfolio. I know that's important to a lot of
736
00:36:19.760 --> 00:36:23.679
my listeners as it's made from recycled plastics, aluminum and
737
00:36:23.760 --> 00:36:27.360
carbon fiber, and the packaging is also super eco friendly.
738
00:36:27.480 --> 00:36:29.960
For more info on everything I've covered here today, you
739
00:36:29.960 --> 00:36:33.360
can visit in thenews dot tv. Again, that's in thenews
740
00:36:33.400 --> 00:36:36.960
dot tv, or again you can go to Blockadvisors dot com,
741
00:36:36.960 --> 00:36:40.599
Business dot nextdoor dot com and Lenovo dot com as well.
742
00:36:40.679 --> 00:36:43.400
But that's just a taste of that small business set
743
00:36:43.400 --> 00:36:46.400
of TV interviews I did last Friday, and again check
744
00:36:46.400 --> 00:36:48.760
out that website and you'll see me in action showing
745
00:36:48.800 --> 00:36:52.079
these items as well. Before we wrap up another episode
746
00:36:52.159 --> 00:36:54.800
of tech It Out, I wanted to give a shout
747
00:36:54.800 --> 00:36:58.639
out to Intel, the title sponsor on this program. Again.
748
00:36:58.760 --> 00:37:01.360
Now that we're heading into Day in a week or
749
00:37:01.440 --> 00:37:04.840
so and then Black Friday Cyber Monday, you definitely want
750
00:37:04.840 --> 00:37:08.159
to check out these new Intel Core Ultra Series two
751
00:37:08.480 --> 00:37:12.679
powered laptops that deliver incredible battery life, a ton of
752
00:37:12.719 --> 00:37:17.679
power and awesome AI experiences on device, not necessarily needing
753
00:37:17.719 --> 00:37:21.039
the cloud or an Internet connection in order to generate images,
754
00:37:21.400 --> 00:37:25.039
analyze your text, to be a helpful digital assistant privately
755
00:37:25.159 --> 00:37:27.760
and securely, and so many other bells and whistles. So
756
00:37:27.920 --> 00:37:30.960
look for the two hundred V series naming convention on
757
00:37:31.039 --> 00:37:33.800
Intel Core Ultra PCs, so you know it is a
758
00:37:34.000 --> 00:37:36.519
new model, regardless of the brand that you like. You
759
00:37:36.559 --> 00:37:39.639
know a suser, Dell, HP, Lenovo and so on. And
760
00:37:39.679 --> 00:37:43.239
speaking of PCs, don't forget to properly back up your
761
00:37:43.320 --> 00:37:46.119
important files on a regular basis. At the risk of
762
00:37:46.159 --> 00:37:49.480
sounding preachy, it is a terrible feeling to realize everything
763
00:37:49.519 --> 00:37:52.039
you've been working on, whether it's for your company or
764
00:37:52.079 --> 00:37:55.440
for schoolwork, or even something personally, is gone for whatever reason,
765
00:37:55.480 --> 00:37:59.039
something happened you accidentally deleted it. It's important to back
766
00:37:59.119 --> 00:38:01.679
up your important file. I do like the cloud, you know,
767
00:38:01.880 --> 00:38:04.199
uploading to the internet, but you're limited on how many
768
00:38:04.239 --> 00:38:07.239
files you can store there when you use free accounts,
769
00:38:07.280 --> 00:38:09.559
and if you want to pay for more, then they
770
00:38:09.559 --> 00:38:11.760
got you. You know, you can't stop paying or else
771
00:38:11.800 --> 00:38:14.119
you won't have access to your files. So I prefer
772
00:38:14.400 --> 00:38:18.199
local offline storage. More bang for the buck. No Internet
773
00:38:18.239 --> 00:38:22.239
connection is needed, no monthly subscription service, a ton of data.
774
00:38:22.360 --> 00:38:25.239
You can get a six terabyte SSD now. So I'm
775
00:38:25.239 --> 00:38:28.559
a big fan of Western Digital for external drives, as
776
00:38:28.559 --> 00:38:31.360
well as sand Disc for SSD solid state drives, and
777
00:38:31.400 --> 00:38:33.880
even you know SD cards and USB thumb drives. The
778
00:38:33.920 --> 00:38:37.079
point is, it doesn't matter what external media you prefer,
779
00:38:37.239 --> 00:38:40.119
but to do something and have it regularly backup. Every
780
00:38:40.239 --> 00:38:41.960
night at like two three in the morning, I have
781
00:38:42.039 --> 00:38:45.599
mine automatically backup. Western Digital and sand Disk drives have
782
00:38:45.679 --> 00:38:47.840
built in software that will back it up for you.
783
00:38:48.119 --> 00:38:51.519
Head on over to westerndigital dot com or SanDisk dot
784
00:38:51.559 --> 00:38:55.000
com and take advantage of sales, especially this time of year. Hey,
785
00:38:55.039 --> 00:38:56.800
thank you for tuning in to check it out. Everyone.
786
00:38:56.840 --> 00:38:58.320
I hope you have a great rest of your day
787
00:38:58.519 --> 00:39:00.320
and I look forward to catching up with you next
788
00:39:00.360 --> 00:39:03.679
weekend for another episode of Tack it Out. Bye bye
789
00:39:03.679 --> 00:39:04.000
for now.
