In Episode 15, we're joined by Brual Shah, Co-Founder and Chief Technology Officer at GrayMatter Robotics.
GrayMatter builds AI-powered robots for sanding, polishing, grinding, blasting, and painting. They’ve deployed more than 70 systems, working on everything from football helmets to fire trucks, and serve customers across commercial manufacturing and defense.
GrayMatter's ability to quickly build and deploy robots across a variety of tasks comes down to their strength in application engineering. Their teams can adapt a unified robotics platform to fit each customer's processes, then bring solutions that prove useful across deployments back into the platform.
In this episode, we discuss how they make that work: what to standardize, where to allow customization, and how they cut the time from installation to production from over three months to roughly two weeks. We also talk about what it takes to sell robots for defense customers.
I loved this conversation with Brual because I think folks deploying to industrial environments could benefit from this mode of thinking - designing the company around customer needs rather than a product vision. Give it a listen, and let us know if it changes how you think about deploying robots. I know it did for me!
