sQRibl: Now I do consider myself a patriot. If I didn't, I wouldn't do things like start trump news dot info. And that means that every year I do a special Facebook post to say happy fourth of July to the world. ⁓ this year I went to do my post and I came across a memory from twenty twenty two on this date, and I said, You know what, this one is perfect for the current feeling and environment. So I'm just gonna read that and that's my happy fourth of July to everybody. My Independence Day message to everyone this fourth of July, particularly to those who are having a hard time celebrating this particular birthday, perhaps out of disappointment or even out of despair. Those of you who are feeling that way and are reading this, I know you as people. We've spoken before and we've gotten to know each other one way or another, and one thing I know about every single one of you is that you wouldn't even be capable of having anger or emotions such as visceral disappointment if you didn't love America. And love isn't something you can just choose to ignore or throw away. It's not something we get to control voluntarily. So I'll just give you this. When you're upset with someone, it's very difficult to put on a happy face and celebrate them. But if you love that person, and for this example, let's make this person your child, for what is America if she isn't the child of everybody helping her thrive in the current moment? If you love her, you do put on that happy face. Because you may be angry at her for some bad decision that she made today, you may be extremely angry at her, you may be irate with her. But that doesn't change the fact that you're her parent for all intents and purposes, and when it's her birthday party, you need to try and enjoy it with your guests and friends and forget about what happened for just a few hours. Have joy in that time you've spent with your child, the beautiful memories she's given you, the leaps and bounds you've watched her grow by, and the gigantic mistakes you've helped her out of. Think about how beautiful she is and how proud you are to be her parent. Think about the fact that for the majority of her life, other parents have talked about how amazing she is, how much she's taught the students around her, how she's always willing to help in people's time of need. And also remember all those times when she did something worthy of punishment and what she learned from it. This theoretical daughter has problems, but she's still your child and she deserves to see you put on a happy face for just a few hours, and so does everybody else. And when she makes mistakes and she screws up, it's our responsibility as her parents to help her through that difficult time and congratulate her when she's on the other side of it. So for this Fourth of July, please realize that all you're doing is celebrating the birthday of your kiddo. And while she certainly has punishment waiting for her tomorrow, for today you're going to give her those few hours for all the good she has done because she deserves it. America, my love, happy birthday. And to all my friends, Be they cynical, oblivious, or hopeful, thank you for being my co parents, even if I disagree with you wholeheartedly half the time. If it weren't for your help, I don't think I could do this alone. Happy Fourth of July, everybody.
