Who are you when you remove the uniform, the job title, the relationship status, and every gold star you’ve ever earned? That question sounds simple, but it can shake your whole life when grief hits, a role changes, or the thing you relied on disappears.
We’re joined by Chassidy Bayone, author of *Who Are You? No Titles Necessary* and a leader with 13 years of military service, to talk about identity beyond titles and the real cost of building your worth on what you do. Chassidy shares how losing her parents pushed her into a deeper search for purpose, and how faith helped her stop trying to numb pain with control, overwork, and validation. We also get practical about what to do when you genuinely don’t know who you are anymore: find the root, name what’s binding you, and start the work of letting it go.
From prayer and scripture to leadership lessons about rank and pride, we dig into how identity in Christ reshapes self-love, resilience, and the way we serve other people. We also talk about unity, collaboration, and why “free people help free people,” plus the meaning behind Chassidy’s work through Who Are You 59 and I’m Still Here LLC. If you’ve survived a hard season and you’re still asking why you’re here, this conversation offers hope, direction, and a new way to answer “Who am I?”

00:00:28.480 --> 00:00:33.679
Welcome to another inspiring episode of ReadySet Collaborate Podcast with Wanda Pearson.
00:00:33.840 --> 00:00:43.520
Today we're having a conversation that gets to the heart of a question many of us eventually have to ask ourselves: Who am I when I remove all my titles?
00:00:43.759 --> 00:00:47.359
My guest today is Chastity Bayon, author of Who Are You?
00:00:47.600 --> 00:00:48.560
I love that title.
00:00:48.799 --> 00:00:49.920
No titles necessary.
00:00:50.079 --> 00:00:51.280
I love that title too.
00:00:51.520 --> 00:00:56.479
Creator of Who Are You 59 and co-owner of I'm Still Here LLC.
00:00:56.719 --> 00:01:10.159
Born and raised in Alexandria, Louisiana, Chastity brings 13 years of military service together with a passion for helping people discover who they are beyond their careers, accomplishments, and responsibilities and labels.
00:01:10.319 --> 00:01:20.159
At the center of her work is her faith and her desire to help others discover their identity in Christ, serve a purpose, and advocate for greater unity among people.
00:01:20.480 --> 00:01:30.560
Today we're talking about identity, faith, service, purpose, and what happens when we stop defining ourselves by what we do, begin understanding who we truly are.
00:01:30.719 --> 00:01:32.000
I love that chastity.
00:01:32.079 --> 00:01:37.040
So, Chastity, welcome to the Ready Said Collaborate Podcast.
00:01:37.280 --> 00:01:38.959
Thank you for having me.
00:01:39.200 --> 00:01:39.920
Oh, absolutely.
00:01:40.640 --> 00:01:41.920
I have to read a little bit more of your Bible.
00:01:42.000 --> 00:01:42.879
I didn't read everything in there.
00:01:43.120 --> 00:01:43.280
Okay.
00:01:43.439 --> 00:01:52.480
As an author, speaker, and non-commissioned officer, she inspires others to uncover the root causes that bind them so they become the men and woman God is calling them to be.
00:01:52.799 --> 00:01:55.120
Chastity empowers others to identify with Christ.
00:01:55.200 --> 00:01:56.879
And I said that, but I'm gonna say it again.
00:01:57.120 --> 00:02:04.560
Chasty empowers others to identify with Christ, who created them to be asking one of the toughest questions many to struggle to answer.
00:02:04.799 --> 00:02:05.840
Who are you?
00:02:06.079 --> 00:02:06.959
And that's true.
00:02:07.120 --> 00:02:08.080
Who are you?
00:02:08.319 --> 00:02:10.719
So thank you so much for being with us.
00:02:10.800 --> 00:02:12.319
And I want to talk about this military.
00:02:12.479 --> 00:02:13.680
Oh, yeah, and your co-owner.
00:02:13.840 --> 00:02:16.080
Did I say co-owner of I'm Still Here, LLC?
00:02:16.240 --> 00:02:17.199
You do, yes, yeah.
00:02:17.680 --> 00:02:19.759
I just want to make sure I put I emphasize that.
00:02:21.439 --> 00:02:23.360
13 years of military.
00:02:23.599 --> 00:02:24.479
Oh my god.
00:02:24.639 --> 00:02:27.759
So say hello to the audience, Chastity.
00:02:28.000 --> 00:02:28.879
Hi, everyone.
00:02:29.039 --> 00:02:29.759
How are y'all?
00:02:30.240 --> 00:02:30.719
I'm D.
00:02:33.280 --> 00:02:34.879
I am so happy to have you here.
00:02:34.960 --> 00:02:37.599
And when my friend told me, you gotta have this young lady on your podcast.
00:02:37.680 --> 00:02:38.719
I said, let's do it.
00:02:38.800 --> 00:02:41.039
Let's but I want to make sure she feels comfortable.
00:02:41.199 --> 00:02:43.199
And I said it's just a conversation.
00:02:43.360 --> 00:02:44.080
That's all.
00:02:44.319 --> 00:02:46.479
Because you already know the answers, right?
00:02:46.800 --> 00:02:47.439
Right.
00:02:48.240 --> 00:02:53.759
So, Chassie, before we talk about everything you do, I want to begin with a question at the center of your work.
00:02:53.919 --> 00:02:55.280
Who is Chassie Bayon?
00:02:55.520 --> 00:02:56.080
Bayon?
00:02:56.400 --> 00:02:56.960
Bayon.
00:02:57.360 --> 00:02:57.919
Bayon.
00:02:58.240 --> 00:03:01.199
Bayon, okay, that's that Louisiana Bayon.
00:03:01.360 --> 00:03:03.199
So you can say it two ways, actually.
00:03:03.280 --> 00:03:06.960
So it's Bayonne if you want to be very fancy with it.
00:03:07.199 --> 00:03:11.439
And Tony is where like from Louisiana Bayou, so it's Bayon.
00:03:12.319 --> 00:03:12.560
Okay.
00:03:12.800 --> 00:03:13.520
Thank you for everything.
00:03:13.759 --> 00:03:17.520
Because it's funny because we had my husband used to work with a guy, said his name was Tony Bayon.
00:03:17.840 --> 00:03:20.639
And that's I said that.
00:03:20.879 --> 00:03:23.840
So who is Chassie Bayon without any of her titles?
00:03:23.919 --> 00:03:25.199
Can you tell me who you are?
00:03:25.520 --> 00:03:28.000
I am a daughter of Christ.
00:03:28.159 --> 00:03:29.439
That's who I am.
00:03:29.759 --> 00:03:33.759
God created me to be his daughter, to be an heir.
00:03:34.080 --> 00:03:39.759
My identity is to be the light of the world, the start of this earth, and that's what he called me to be.
00:03:39.840 --> 00:03:41.439
That's who he created me to be.
00:03:41.599 --> 00:03:44.240
Nothing else, just a daughter.
00:03:44.639 --> 00:03:45.280
Absolutely.
00:03:45.439 --> 00:03:46.080
I love that.
00:03:46.240 --> 00:03:46.800
I love that.
00:03:46.960 --> 00:03:50.719
So what happened in your life that caused you to start asking yourself, who am I?
00:03:51.039 --> 00:03:52.319
Just a little backstory about me.
00:03:52.400 --> 00:03:54.639
I lost my parents at a young age.
00:03:54.800 --> 00:03:57.039
I lost my dad during basic training.
00:03:57.199 --> 00:04:02.560
And I lost my mom and my grandmother in Indiana when I was stationed there for three years.
00:04:02.639 --> 00:04:06.639
And so just going through grief and just sitting there, what is my purpose?
00:04:06.800 --> 00:04:10.240
Who am I now that I'm not Ben Aronda's daughter?
00:04:10.400 --> 00:04:13.039
I'm not my grandmother's granddaughter.
00:04:13.199 --> 00:04:15.599
Now I'm just sitting here and just wondering.
00:04:15.759 --> 00:04:16.800
I was sitting in the office.
00:04:16.879 --> 00:04:18.560
I was like, why am I here?
00:04:18.720 --> 00:04:20.079
What is my purpose?
00:04:20.319 --> 00:04:24.480
And I just found myself just wondering, what's next for me?
00:04:24.800 --> 00:04:27.120
What am I supposed to be doing in this moment?
00:04:27.279 --> 00:04:39.439
And that caused me to start thinking and start praying and just really trying to figure out who I was without being a daughter of my mom and my dad and being a soldier and being a mom.
00:04:39.600 --> 00:04:41.839
Who was I outside of that?
00:04:42.720 --> 00:04:43.519
I love that.
00:04:43.600 --> 00:04:45.360
And I'm so sorry to hear about your parents.
00:04:45.519 --> 00:04:47.920
Now, how old were you when you lost your parents?
00:04:48.240 --> 00:04:51.360
I was 24 when I lost my dad.
00:04:51.600 --> 00:04:55.040
And I was 29 when I lost my mom.
00:04:55.279 --> 00:04:56.639
Oh, I'm so sorry.
00:04:56.879 --> 00:04:58.079
But you have your children.
00:04:58.319 --> 00:04:59.279
I have my kids.
00:04:59.519 --> 00:05:00.160
My three.
00:05:00.720 --> 00:05:02.319
I'm just yes.
00:05:02.480 --> 00:05:03.839
How old are your children, by the way?
00:05:04.079 --> 00:05:04.800
They're 10.
00:05:04.879 --> 00:05:06.639
My daughter just turned 11 yesterday.
00:05:08.399 --> 00:05:10.639
11, 9, and 4.
00:05:10.959 --> 00:05:11.279
Okay.
00:05:11.439 --> 00:05:12.720
And what's your daughter's name?
00:05:12.959 --> 00:05:13.600
Autumn.
00:05:13.759 --> 00:05:15.040
Happy birthday, Autumn.
00:05:15.439 --> 00:05:16.319
What a beautiful name.
00:05:17.680 --> 00:05:19.519
Because she's gonna see this podcast, right?
00:05:19.680 --> 00:05:21.120
It's gonna see this podcast.
00:05:21.360 --> 00:05:22.879
And it's actually my birthday today, too.
00:05:22.959 --> 00:05:24.000
So she was the best.
00:05:24.720 --> 00:05:25.839
Happy birthday.
00:05:27.360 --> 00:05:28.639
No wonder we did it on this day.
00:05:28.720 --> 00:05:29.519
I didn't know it was your birthday.
00:05:29.600 --> 00:05:31.040
I would have had balloons and stuff.
00:05:33.279 --> 00:05:33.920
It's okay.
00:05:34.480 --> 00:05:36.800
Happy birthday, many blessings, I tell you.
00:05:36.959 --> 00:05:39.360
So this is a good day to have your podcast, right?
00:05:39.519 --> 00:05:44.319
Because you're celebrating, you're celebrating the birth of you and that the many years and your daughters yesterday.
00:05:44.399 --> 00:05:47.680
So yeah, a blessed and enjoyable birthday today.
00:05:47.839 --> 00:05:48.240
Thank you.
00:05:49.040 --> 00:05:55.680
So why do you think so many of us attach identity to our careers, relationships, and compagnons, or titles?
00:05:56.399 --> 00:06:00.160
I believe that mainly people, it's culture.
00:06:00.560 --> 00:06:02.879
And so they want to be in control of something.
00:06:03.040 --> 00:06:06.000
They want to have control of who they are.
00:06:06.160 --> 00:06:09.360
They want to have control of the businesses, the things.
00:06:09.439 --> 00:06:12.240
And so they get caught up in this is who I am.
00:06:12.399 --> 00:06:16.480
If I'm the CEO, if I can make it to the top and I'm the boss, I can do this.
00:06:16.720 --> 00:06:26.959
Or if I got the degree, then I'm a doctor, so I can tell people that I did this, I accomplished this, and they just get caught up into what society calls our identity.
00:06:27.199 --> 00:06:31.680
And without those things, they find themselves being lost.
00:06:32.319 --> 00:06:32.959
Absolutely.
00:06:33.519 --> 00:06:34.879
And actually, that was my next question.
00:06:34.959 --> 00:06:36.319
Your book is called Who Are You?
00:06:36.480 --> 00:06:37.680
No Titles Necessary.
00:06:38.160 --> 00:06:43.920
Inspired You that title, and exactly what you were saying about the titles of what you know.
00:06:44.639 --> 00:06:53.120
So it's so funny, and it's like sound cliche, but God actually gave me the title because he was like, Who are you, Chastity?
00:06:53.360 --> 00:07:07.759
When I was trying to find myself, I was caught up in addiction, caught up in drinking, trying to find myself in different men, in my work, and in being a mom, just overloading myself with so many things.
00:07:08.000 --> 00:07:09.519
And God was like, Who are you?
00:07:09.759 --> 00:07:16.240
If you don't have those things, if you don't, if you're not in that relationship, if you don't have the job, if you're not the mom, who are you?
00:07:16.399 --> 00:07:21.120
And so God actually inspired me to name the book, Who Are You?
00:07:21.360 --> 00:07:24.720
Because a lot of people don't know how to answer that question.
00:07:24.959 --> 00:07:33.360
They do not, if it's not with the titles, if it's not with the accomplishments that we do here on earth, they don't know how to answer that simple question.
00:07:33.600 --> 00:07:40.160
And so I wanted to ask that question and be blunt and direct.
00:07:42.800 --> 00:07:43.600
I love that.
00:07:43.759 --> 00:07:47.759
And then also, what do you mean by you when you say no titles necessary?
00:07:48.240 --> 00:08:05.040
No titles necessary mean your accomplishments, your performance, you being the CEO, you being the boss, or you being the certain title that you have to meet to qualify or feel that you people admire you, or validation, those things don't matter.
00:08:05.279 --> 00:08:07.040
They do not matter in the end.
00:08:07.279 --> 00:08:12.800
What matters is God created you to be who He created you to be, and that's a daughter and a son.
00:08:13.279 --> 00:08:13.920
Absolutely.
00:08:14.000 --> 00:08:18.959
Because whenever you had a big CEO title, and it's just okay, your job is no longer necessary.
00:08:19.199 --> 00:08:20.639
Well, and it's so true.
00:08:20.800 --> 00:08:22.240
That's why I don't know.
00:08:22.319 --> 00:08:25.279
That's why I created working for a corporate for 36 years.
00:08:25.360 --> 00:08:29.519
And when I got out, I had I can do whatever I wanted to do.
00:08:29.600 --> 00:08:30.959
I can name the title, whatever.
00:08:31.040 --> 00:08:33.840
So I named my business WD Prince Associates, right?
00:08:33.919 --> 00:08:34.639
That's who I am.
00:08:34.720 --> 00:08:35.519
So that's who I am.
00:08:35.600 --> 00:08:37.440
But but the title means nothing.
00:08:37.600 --> 00:08:40.159
It's not if God don't give it to you, let's put it that way.
00:08:40.639 --> 00:08:44.399
But he created you for a purpose, and he wants us to walk that out.
00:08:44.639 --> 00:08:48.240
He wants us to walk the purpose that he created us for out.
00:08:48.399 --> 00:08:52.399
And our identity shouldn't be caught up in what the world says we are.
00:08:52.639 --> 00:08:59.360
They should be created, what God created us and he created our identity for a purpose and for a calling.
00:08:59.519 --> 00:09:04.399
And so that's the reason why I am so bent on who are you?
00:09:04.639 --> 00:09:06.559
Because our identity comes from Christ.
00:09:06.639 --> 00:09:08.480
It does not come from this world.
00:09:08.799 --> 00:09:09.440
Absolutely.
00:09:09.600 --> 00:09:10.720
Yeah, I love that.
00:09:10.879 --> 00:09:15.840
So what happens emotionally or spiritually when a title we've depended on is suddenly taken away?
00:09:16.080 --> 00:09:17.600
We were just talking about that a little bit.
00:09:19.360 --> 00:09:24.399
So I really love this question because the answer is the same for both.
00:09:24.639 --> 00:09:25.279
You die.
00:09:26.000 --> 00:09:29.360
Emotionally, you die, spiritually, you die.
00:09:29.759 --> 00:09:34.080
Because a lot of people don't know, they can't answer the question.
00:09:34.320 --> 00:09:39.519
If they are so caught up in the titles, they don't know who they are without them.
00:09:39.840 --> 00:09:41.600
Or what does that mean emotionally?
00:09:41.840 --> 00:09:44.320
Emotionally, you lost yourself.
00:09:44.639 --> 00:09:47.279
You're questioning yourself, who am I?
00:09:47.519 --> 00:09:52.639
And you're trying to find yourself in so many things in different people and validation from people.
00:09:52.720 --> 00:09:57.200
And when you don't find those things, you you have nothing else.
00:09:57.360 --> 00:09:58.879
You have nothing else left.
00:09:59.679 --> 00:10:07.600
Spiritually, you are disconnected from God because you don't understand that your identity comes from Him.
00:10:07.919 --> 00:10:14.080
And so it's constant, it's a constant cycle of trying to be something that you're not.
00:10:14.480 --> 00:10:15.360
I love that.
00:10:15.440 --> 00:10:16.480
And that is so true.
00:10:16.639 --> 00:10:22.799
So for someone listening who says, I don't know who I am anymore, what would you encourage them to begin?
00:10:23.039 --> 00:10:24.320
Find the root.
00:10:24.559 --> 00:10:26.960
Find the root of why you feel that way.
00:10:27.120 --> 00:10:35.600
What is bought, what is keeping you chained and bound to not finding who you are or being content with who God created you to be.
00:10:35.919 --> 00:10:37.600
And for me, it was grief.
00:10:37.759 --> 00:10:39.759
I had to let go of the grief.
00:10:39.919 --> 00:10:41.600
I had to actually talk about it.
00:10:41.759 --> 00:10:46.240
I had to actually speak with people and be able to be honest.
00:10:46.399 --> 00:10:47.919
Hey, I'm hurting right now.
00:10:48.080 --> 00:10:49.519
I'm in pain right now.
00:10:49.679 --> 00:10:52.960
I can't find the light in this moment.
00:10:53.039 --> 00:10:55.840
And so finding a root for me, it was grief.
00:10:56.000 --> 00:10:57.759
For other people, it might be drinking.
00:10:57.840 --> 00:10:59.200
For other people, it might be abuse.
00:10:59.279 --> 00:11:01.200
For other people, it might be rejection.
00:11:01.440 --> 00:11:07.919
Just actually finding the root and actually letting it go so that you can be content with who God created you to be.
00:11:08.000 --> 00:11:10.320
And just really finding yourself in Christ.
00:11:10.559 --> 00:11:12.559
God, what do you want for my life?
00:11:12.799 --> 00:11:16.960
Seeking Him first and asking Him, who am I in you?
00:11:17.600 --> 00:11:18.159
I love it.
00:11:18.240 --> 00:11:18.559
I love it.
00:11:18.720 --> 00:11:22.399
And actually, we're going to get into the next segment of faith and identity.
00:11:22.639 --> 00:11:24.559
Your faith is central to your message.
00:11:24.720 --> 00:11:28.799
How did discovering your identity in Christ change the way you saw yourself?
00:11:29.039 --> 00:11:30.720
I began to love myself.
00:11:32.559 --> 00:11:41.600
I began to see myself how God saw me, which is love as a daughter, as kept, as sustained, as he was my comforter.
00:11:41.759 --> 00:11:50.080
And so I was able to be at peace and joyful because I finally am whole because of him.
00:11:50.480 --> 00:11:54.240
I didn't have to be whole because of things that I was into in this world.
00:11:54.399 --> 00:12:03.600
I was able to see myself how he's called me, up a daughter, as someone who is whole, as someone who is loved and seen.
00:12:04.320 --> 00:12:08.639
And so that's yeah, I love that.
00:12:08.720 --> 00:12:15.519
And and really it's like we love yourself, but also, and I know my book is on forgiveness, and you got to forgive yourself first.
00:12:16.320 --> 00:12:24.080
We put we be beat ourselves up so hard that we don't realize that we're not forgiving, we're blaming everybody else, but you gotta forgive yourself first.
00:12:26.480 --> 00:12:29.039
We were not created to be perfect, we're not perfect.
00:12:29.279 --> 00:12:35.519
We were born into sin, so we're not gonna be perfect, and God gives us grace every single day.
00:12:35.840 --> 00:12:38.000
Yes, yes, yes, exactly.
00:12:38.159 --> 00:12:41.519
And would you even think she was nervous about this podcast here?
00:12:41.679 --> 00:12:43.279
Because I think she's done a wonderful job.
00:12:44.799 --> 00:12:46.639
She's doing a wonderful job here.
00:12:46.799 --> 00:12:52.080
So, how do you distinguish between who God says you are and who the world tells you you should be?
00:12:53.840 --> 00:12:54.320
Yeah.
00:12:56.240 --> 00:13:01.279
With Jeremiah 29 loving God, so the plans he has for you, plans for you give you hope in the future.
00:13:01.440 --> 00:13:02.480
That is so true.
00:13:02.639 --> 00:13:06.559
But it you have to believe in yourself first and forgive yourself first.
00:13:06.799 --> 00:13:08.080
But I love this, I love this.
00:13:08.240 --> 00:13:12.480
So, how do you distinguish between who God says you are and who the world, oh yeah, I think we talked about that.
00:13:12.799 --> 00:13:12.960
Okay.
00:13:13.200 --> 00:13:18.000
So, what role does prayer or scripture play when you're struggling with your identity or purpose?
00:13:18.720 --> 00:13:20.799
It plays a huge role.
00:13:20.960 --> 00:13:28.720
It plays a role in reminding me of who I am, it plays a role of giving me peace and comfort.
00:13:30.000 --> 00:13:37.200
Because a lot of times we get lost in our own minds, some that the devil attacks us left and right.
00:13:37.759 --> 00:13:44.879
We have to be reminded by who we are and the word and prayer.
00:13:45.120 --> 00:13:47.039
Oh my God, it's the strongest place.
00:13:47.200 --> 00:13:56.080
Just being able to just really tap into communicating with God, building a relationship with Him, and just understanding how to hear from Him.
00:13:56.559 --> 00:14:01.679
Just sitting and just really taking the time to just, God, I just want to hear from you.
00:14:03.360 --> 00:14:07.519
I don't know the answers, I don't know what to say, I don't know what to do in this moment.
00:14:08.080 --> 00:14:11.360
And He guides us, He orders our steps.
00:14:12.320 --> 00:14:13.840
Absolutely, but we got to listen.
00:14:14.559 --> 00:14:15.440
That's the problem a lot.
00:14:15.679 --> 00:14:16.960
Because I don't listen sometimes.
00:14:20.720 --> 00:14:21.279
Don't obey.
00:14:21.360 --> 00:14:22.399
I learned that the hard way.
00:14:22.559 --> 00:14:25.200
And it's time to you can't obey just a little bit.
00:14:25.279 --> 00:14:27.039
You gotta obey fully.
00:14:27.200 --> 00:14:29.440
Yeah, it's time to obey fully.
00:14:29.600 --> 00:14:29.840
Yeah.
00:14:30.000 --> 00:14:31.200
I'll tell you, Chassie.
00:14:31.279 --> 00:14:32.559
I had actually woke up.
00:14:32.639 --> 00:14:36.960
I was in North Carolina, and God woke me up and gave me these words.
00:14:37.360 --> 00:14:40.480
Let go, let God release something my dream.
00:14:40.559 --> 00:14:42.879
Then all of a sudden he said again, let go, let God release.
00:14:42.960 --> 00:14:45.600
I'm like, oh, I woke up, I said, Oh, okay.
00:14:45.919 --> 00:14:47.519
I was worried about some things.
00:14:47.840 --> 00:14:50.559
Once I said that, that's when I got peace.
00:14:50.639 --> 00:14:52.639
That's when you get your peace and your healing.
00:14:52.720 --> 00:14:55.840
Because you gotta let go, let God release, release whatever is bothering you.
00:14:55.919 --> 00:14:57.039
Can do that, that release what?
00:14:57.120 --> 00:14:58.159
What do you need to release?
00:14:58.399 --> 00:14:59.759
So that that is so true.
00:14:59.840 --> 00:15:02.720
So that has been my my my thing this year.
00:15:03.039 --> 00:15:05.600
I tell people because I do inspirations as well.
00:15:05.759 --> 00:15:09.840
So can someone know their purpose before they fully understand their identity?
00:15:10.720 --> 00:15:11.840
Ask me again.
00:15:12.159 --> 00:15:16.879
Can someone know their purpose before they fully understand their identity?
00:15:17.440 --> 00:15:19.039
I don't believe so.
00:15:20.080 --> 00:15:27.440
I believe that you have to find yourself in Christ before you know your purpose because you have to have a relationship with God.
00:15:27.679 --> 00:15:32.240
God gives us those plans, he gives us the desires of our hearts.
00:15:32.480 --> 00:15:45.440
And if we don't have a relationship with him, we don't understand our identity, we don't understand why we were created, we don't understand our purpose in life, and we have to seek him first for the answer.
00:15:45.600 --> 00:15:54.159
And if we don't have a purpose, we try to find a purpose in the world, and that's not what he wants us to do.
00:15:54.399 --> 00:15:59.279
Yeah, and it's a lot of people that don't understand that may not believe in God.
00:15:59.360 --> 00:16:01.039
They may just want to do their own thing.
00:16:01.279 --> 00:16:06.399
And that's when it costs us when we want to have control over our lives.
00:16:06.559 --> 00:16:08.320
It costs us so much.
00:16:08.480 --> 00:16:13.200
I gave a class on the cost of control, and I struggled with that.
00:16:13.360 --> 00:16:19.279
I struggled with wanting, oh, I'm gonna go get my money, I'm gonna go, I'm gonna be self-made, I'm gonna get it out of the mud.
00:16:19.360 --> 00:16:29.279
I was that person grinding in the military, moving up in ranks and doing everything to be the perfect soldier, to be the perfect mom, to be the perfect fiance.
00:16:29.840 --> 00:16:31.519
And it almost broke me.
00:16:31.759 --> 00:16:34.879
It broke me because I didn't have anything to sustain.
00:16:35.200 --> 00:16:43.759
I didn't have the foundation, the right foundation, to be the person and become the woman that God was calling me to be because I wanted to do it on my own.
00:16:44.080 --> 00:16:48.480
Once I let go of that control, everything just fell into place.
00:16:48.639 --> 00:16:50.080
Yep, yeah, exactly.
00:16:50.240 --> 00:16:52.159
Remember, I said let go, let God release.
00:16:52.399 --> 00:16:53.200
Because it's so true.
00:16:53.279 --> 00:16:55.919
Everything you're saying is so true because we try to hold on to things.
00:16:56.000 --> 00:16:59.919
And I I try to help God to let me help you guys, let me put it in this wonder.
00:17:00.240 --> 00:17:01.120
Just be still.
00:17:06.799 --> 00:17:07.440
Exactly.
00:17:07.599 --> 00:17:08.240
Just be still.
00:17:08.319 --> 00:17:15.359
And once I be still, we be still, that's when all of a sudden you get people it come things come out when your blessings come when you do that.
00:17:15.440 --> 00:17:19.359
So that I wow, yeah, we got good, we got a good conversation going here.
00:17:19.440 --> 00:17:22.799
So let's talk about your military service, strength, and purpose.
00:17:23.039 --> 00:17:24.880
You have 13 years of military service.
00:17:24.960 --> 00:17:28.640
How was serving in the military shape the woman and leader you are today?
00:17:28.880 --> 00:17:30.960
It helped me mature a lot.
00:17:31.599 --> 00:17:35.839
It put me in some challenges mentally and physically that I didn't expect.
00:17:36.079 --> 00:17:37.519
I was always in shape.
00:17:37.680 --> 00:17:42.000
I played sports in high school and continued to work out in college.
00:17:42.079 --> 00:17:46.000
And so when I joined the military, I was thinking, oh, I'm just gonna go and learn how to shoot.
00:17:46.160 --> 00:17:48.880
I'm gonna throw some grenades, blow some things up.
00:17:49.039 --> 00:17:54.240
But it actually taught me that it was a more mental game than a physical game.
00:17:54.559 --> 00:17:59.279
And I was just able to learn how to become a better leader.
00:17:59.680 --> 00:18:03.200
When I see toxic leadership, I wanted to be the difference.
00:18:03.279 --> 00:18:06.240
I wanted it, and it's so crazy because God said it was set apart.
00:18:06.480 --> 00:18:08.000
And so I wanted to be different.
00:18:08.160 --> 00:18:18.799
I wanted to be a leader that actually cared about unity, that actually cared about bringing people together to be able to complete the mission, but also become a family because we're one body, all of us.
00:18:19.200 --> 00:18:27.039
No matter our skin color, no matter our race, no matter our age, no matter our gender, God calls us to be one body.
00:18:27.279 --> 00:18:30.960
And the military taught me it's a big family being in the military.
00:18:31.119 --> 00:18:36.400
So it taught me a lot, but it actually taught me how to really tackle the mental part of it.
00:18:36.640 --> 00:18:38.319
That yeah, that is structural.
00:18:38.400 --> 00:18:41.920
So the military naturally comes with ranks, roles, titles.
00:18:42.079 --> 00:18:46.799
Did that experience influential message about discovering who you are beyond a title?
00:18:47.200 --> 00:18:53.599
Yes, because we get caught up in our rank power happy, they say, or abuse of power.
00:18:53.759 --> 00:18:58.079
And so a lot of us we are we're just trying to get to the next rank.
00:18:58.240 --> 00:19:07.680
We're trying to anything that I can do to get to the next rank, to get to the next title, so I can be my own boss, or I can be the leader, the what we call it is the non-commissioner in charge.
00:19:07.920 --> 00:19:15.599
And we're just trying to reach the highest level, whether it's for money, whether it's for clout, like the kids like to say nowadays.
00:19:16.960 --> 00:19:18.880
Or to just be someone's boss.
00:19:19.119 --> 00:19:21.440
We're all trying to get to that highest level.
00:19:21.599 --> 00:19:30.480
And so I know I found myself very proud and prideful because I got to sergeant so quickly.
00:19:30.960 --> 00:19:36.400
And I quickly found out that just getting to the rank doesn't mean anything.
00:19:36.799 --> 00:19:39.599
Even though I got to the rank, it's more to it.
00:19:39.839 --> 00:19:41.759
Now I have to lead soldiers.
00:19:42.000 --> 00:19:55.920
And if I don't know how to lead myself, like if I don't know how to follow myself, how am I gonna lead other soldiers into the mission and executing and actually protecting them and being there for them if I don't have those qualities?
00:19:56.000 --> 00:20:01.519
And so that's the military taught me those qualities to be able to lead by example, yeah.
00:20:01.599 --> 00:20:05.039
And that taught you discipline and resilience and serving others, right?
00:20:05.279 --> 00:20:11.599
Yes, definitely discipline, definitely different discipline and resilience, yeah.
00:20:12.319 --> 00:20:48.640
Very understanding because it's structure, it's structured, it's organised, or organized, and it's just they teach us like from the different levels, being able to be prepared, but also being courageous, not afraid to step out there, not afraid to be the leader, not afraid to take on the task, not afraid to see it head first and have personal courage, selfless service, just being able to serve with your battle buddies, to be able to serve with your soldiers and be a family, be united to one together.
00:20:49.200 --> 00:20:50.079
I love that.
00:20:50.319 --> 00:20:51.519
Love that, I tell you.
00:20:51.680 --> 00:20:55.359
And we I'm gonna have to have you on again for my my podcast.
00:20:57.039 --> 00:20:59.759
So unity is another important part of your mission.
00:21:00.079 --> 00:21:00.559
Yes.
00:21:00.799 --> 00:21:03.839
Why do you believe we need more unity today?
00:21:04.480 --> 00:21:07.920
Because we all God created us to be.
00:21:08.240 --> 00:21:28.559
It's so many things that's happening in the world nowadays where we're all divided, whether it's race, whether it's different laws that's being passed, different things, perspectives, and how people are, the way that they think, the way that they speak, is causing a lot of division nowadays and identity.
00:21:29.119 --> 00:21:30.400
Identity crisis.
00:21:30.559 --> 00:21:36.559
People don't know who they are, they're confused about what they should be, and we need that.
00:21:36.720 --> 00:21:37.599
We need unity.
00:21:37.759 --> 00:21:43.440
We need people to not see people as an enemy, but to see people how God sees them.
00:21:43.680 --> 00:21:45.440
Because that's what God created us to be.
00:21:45.599 --> 00:21:47.599
He created us to be united.
00:21:47.839 --> 00:21:49.599
We're stronger together.
00:21:49.839 --> 00:21:57.599
We come together, we pray together, we be there for each other, we witness to each other about the things that we've experienced, we overcome it.
00:21:57.839 --> 00:21:59.279
Iron sharpens iron.
00:21:59.359 --> 00:21:59.759
We're able.
00:22:00.160 --> 00:22:06.880
Able to help someone free themselves from the bondage, the change that they're going through, because free people help free people.
00:22:07.279 --> 00:22:08.880
Absolutely, absolutely.
00:22:09.039 --> 00:22:09.839
I love that.
00:22:10.000 --> 00:22:12.079
I love God, it is so true.
00:22:12.559 --> 00:22:15.680
Everything you're saying, because it's that you're all out there on that field.
00:22:16.559 --> 00:22:17.920
You got to protect each other.
00:22:18.160 --> 00:22:27.839
And on that note, since this is ready, said collaborate, I have to ask, what has collaboration taught you about accomplishing a mission that is bigger than yourself?
00:22:28.559 --> 00:22:29.839
That we need people.
00:22:30.000 --> 00:22:31.359
We can't do this alone.
00:22:31.519 --> 00:22:33.119
We cannot do this alone.
00:22:33.440 --> 00:22:35.440
We weren't created to do it alone.
00:22:35.759 --> 00:22:37.119
He created us to be together.
00:22:37.839 --> 00:22:41.920
He put Adam to sleep to create Eve because he didn't want him to be alone.
00:22:42.000 --> 00:22:44.240
And it's the same for us today.
00:22:44.880 --> 00:22:45.519
Yeah.
00:22:45.839 --> 00:22:46.880
That's so true.
00:22:47.039 --> 00:22:49.359
So what is who are 59?
00:22:49.599 --> 00:22:52.480
And what do you hope people experience through it?
00:22:52.720 --> 00:22:53.599
So who are you?
00:22:53.839 --> 00:22:55.359
59, it's my brand.
00:22:55.440 --> 00:23:00.640
And so it's just a way of getting out there into the community and giving back.
00:23:00.720 --> 00:23:05.519
But the 59 stands for 5 stands for grace, the 9 stands for final.
00:23:06.160 --> 00:23:11.519
And every time I see that number, I was reminded that God gives me grace.
00:23:11.680 --> 00:23:12.799
And that's final.
00:23:13.119 --> 00:23:18.640
I found myself in hard places and unforgiving myself.
00:23:18.960 --> 00:23:20.559
And he is give yourself grace.
00:23:20.880 --> 00:23:25.839
I give you grace, undeserving favor freely every day.
00:23:26.079 --> 00:23:32.000
And so it's just a constant reminder to just keep moving forward because God is with me every step of the way.
00:23:32.799 --> 00:23:33.519
Absolutely.
00:23:33.759 --> 00:23:35.440
You put that perfectly.
00:23:36.720 --> 00:23:40.240
So what does the name I'm still here mean to you personally?
00:23:40.960 --> 00:23:45.039
I faced some challenges where I wanted to give up.
00:23:45.359 --> 00:23:56.000
I was suicidal and I went through some hard times, and I found myself thinking no one will care if I'm here or not.
00:23:56.559 --> 00:24:04.000
And it's a business that me and my co-owner got together because she was really ill and almost lost her life.
00:24:04.079 --> 00:24:06.640
And so we both were very strong.
00:24:06.720 --> 00:24:07.759
And we're still here.
00:24:07.920 --> 00:24:08.880
I'm still standing.
00:24:09.039 --> 00:24:11.920
The things that I went through did not break me.
00:24:12.160 --> 00:24:17.759
And I'm still standing because God's grace and God's healing, and He brought me out of that.
00:24:17.839 --> 00:24:24.000
And so things that I face, challenges that I face in the future, I know that I'm being kept and sustained.
00:24:24.559 --> 00:24:26.000
And it they won't break me.
00:24:26.160 --> 00:24:31.200
Any attack, no weapon formed against me will prosper because I know I know that God is with me.
00:24:31.279 --> 00:24:33.200
And my foundation is Christ.
00:24:33.279 --> 00:24:35.599
And so I'm still here because of Him.
00:24:36.160 --> 00:24:36.799
I love it.
00:24:36.880 --> 00:24:38.400
And that's another one of my favorites.
00:24:38.640 --> 00:24:40.640
No weapon formed against me shall prosper.
00:24:42.960 --> 00:24:49.519
So, what would you say to someone who survived a difficult season but is struggling to understand why they're still here?
00:24:50.240 --> 00:24:51.599
It won't break you.
00:24:52.000 --> 00:24:53.680
The season will not break you.
00:24:54.079 --> 00:24:57.279
You've gone through it, you are still here.
00:24:57.599 --> 00:24:59.359
God is not done with you yet.
00:25:00.880 --> 00:25:01.279
Amen.
00:25:01.680 --> 00:25:01.920
Amen.
00:25:02.240 --> 00:25:03.440
Yep, drop the mic.
00:25:06.400 --> 00:25:11.119
So, what is one title label you believe people need to give themselves permission to release?
00:25:13.039 --> 00:25:18.319
What is one title label you believe people need to give themselves permission to release?
00:25:20.000 --> 00:25:21.599
One title label.
00:25:22.559 --> 00:25:23.359
I know it's hard.
00:25:23.440 --> 00:25:24.640
I know it's more than one title.
00:25:28.640 --> 00:25:31.200
It's one that comes to your mind to say, you know.
00:25:34.559 --> 00:25:39.119
Yeah, it's it's hard to really when I ask that question, it is hard to think about it.
00:25:39.359 --> 00:25:41.920
I would say worthless.
00:25:42.799 --> 00:25:48.240
That title, because a lot of people feel like, oh, I'm not worthy of God blessing me.
00:25:48.400 --> 00:25:59.680
I'm not worthy of receiving the things that you know, and it's not about material things, but a lot of people feel like they're worthless of being able to be blessed.
00:25:59.920 --> 00:26:02.000
And so that's something that they need to release.
00:26:02.160 --> 00:26:04.160
That's a actually a huge title.
00:26:04.319 --> 00:26:06.960
And I know that's not like your typical title, right?
00:26:07.200 --> 00:26:08.960
It's not uh, oh, it's great.
00:26:09.119 --> 00:26:22.000
Yeah, it's not like the doctor or being a soldier or being a mom or a dad, but that a lot of people call themselves worthless or they treat themselves as worthless.
00:26:22.799 --> 00:26:23.680
That is so true.
00:26:23.759 --> 00:26:27.839
And I my title is we hear people say, I can't do this.
00:26:29.039 --> 00:26:35.039
And that that's something I tell my husband, not say I can't, because my father taught me that can't come in cans.
00:26:35.359 --> 00:26:43.920
Don't say you can't do it because you get locked up in that can, but you got to release it to say I can do this and do all things to Christ for strengthening me.
00:26:44.000 --> 00:26:44.319
Right?
00:26:44.559 --> 00:26:50.160
So, what legacy do you hope to leave through your book, your business, your military service, and your ministry to others?
00:26:50.319 --> 00:26:51.680
All the things that you've been talking about.
00:26:51.759 --> 00:26:53.200
What what legacy?
00:26:55.839 --> 00:26:56.799
That's a new one.
00:26:56.880 --> 00:26:58.960
I don't know if I've ever been asked that question.
00:26:59.440 --> 00:27:04.000
I want to leave behind the truth of who I am.
00:27:04.240 --> 00:27:08.720
I want my kids to know who they are, who they belong to.
00:27:09.599 --> 00:27:11.759
And so I just that's what I want.
00:27:11.839 --> 00:27:16.319
I want to leave back a legacy of giving back to my community.
00:27:16.640 --> 00:27:21.279
And in whatever community he has me in this moment, I want to give back.
00:27:21.440 --> 00:27:24.559
And so that's the important legacy that I want to leave behind.
00:27:24.720 --> 00:27:29.359
I definitely want my kids to know who they are and who they belong to.
00:27:29.680 --> 00:27:30.480
That's awesome.
00:27:30.640 --> 00:27:31.200
That's awesome.
00:27:31.359 --> 00:27:34.640
I'm sure they're gonna know because you're gonna put this podcast on for them and let them know.
00:27:35.279 --> 00:27:36.720
We talk about it every single day.
00:27:36.799 --> 00:27:41.359
I let my me and my daughter and my sons, they know they will answer that question.
00:27:41.519 --> 00:27:43.920
I know who I am and I know who I belong to.
00:27:44.160 --> 00:27:44.880
That's awesome.
00:27:45.039 --> 00:27:45.599
That's awesome.
00:27:45.680 --> 00:27:51.599
I love it because you really got to integrate that to your kids because it's a lot of abuse and bullying.
00:27:52.799 --> 00:28:00.079
Yeah, nowadays, this generation is so caught up on what oh, I'm self-made.
00:28:00.319 --> 00:28:03.839
I do this, and I just not what it is.
00:28:04.000 --> 00:28:05.200
We are God created.
00:28:05.599 --> 00:28:06.319
Absolutely.
00:28:06.480 --> 00:28:15.359
I have to say, real quick, but my my 10-year-old grand, they were my book signing, I got six grandchildren, but a 10-year-old, she said, Nana, because I asked the last one.
00:28:15.519 --> 00:28:17.119
I said, Are you reading my book on forgiveness?
00:28:17.279 --> 00:28:18.400
Yes, I am.
00:28:18.720 --> 00:28:25.119
And I looked at my daughter, and it needs to start with mom and dad, because they need to learn for about forgiveness.
00:28:25.279 --> 00:28:26.000
I said, Okay.
00:28:26.400 --> 00:28:30.960
I said, So you were listening to what I was saying because my younger daughter interviewed me, but it is so true.
00:28:31.039 --> 00:28:38.079
She's but she said her school, she said a lot of these kids need to know about forgiveness and because of the bullying that they do with each other, yeah.
00:28:38.240 --> 00:28:39.680
But that that is so true.
00:28:39.839 --> 00:28:43.279
So finally, Cassie, finish the sentence for our listeners.
00:28:43.599 --> 00:28:52.240
When you truly know who you are, you can do anything God can help you with.
00:28:52.480 --> 00:28:53.279
That's right.
00:28:53.519 --> 00:28:54.400
Just release it.
00:28:54.480 --> 00:28:55.759
Let go, let God release.
00:28:56.079 --> 00:28:58.960
Go and let God exactly.
00:28:59.200 --> 00:29:02.000
So tell people how to get in touch with you and also your book.
00:29:02.160 --> 00:29:03.359
You have your book on Amazon.
00:29:03.599 --> 00:29:05.920
Let me know how to get in touch with you.
00:29:06.160 --> 00:29:08.160
So they can order my book off of Amazon.
00:29:08.319 --> 00:29:08.880
Who are you?
00:29:08.960 --> 00:29:11.119
You know, titles necessary with just my name.
00:29:11.279 --> 00:29:18.319
If then they can find me on Instagram, Facebook, and TikTok, Miss Chastity Bayon.
00:29:18.799 --> 00:29:19.359
That's great.
00:29:19.440 --> 00:29:21.440
And I'm gonna have that on the show notes as well.
00:29:21.759 --> 00:29:24.319
So I love what you have at the end of this.
00:29:24.480 --> 00:29:28.160
Strive to inspire, cause change, and be the difference.
00:29:28.400 --> 00:29:29.759
Yeah, I love that.
00:29:29.839 --> 00:29:31.119
That tells it right there.
00:29:31.359 --> 00:29:33.119
So, and also your email.
00:29:33.279 --> 00:29:36.960
I have your email on here is mayoncassidy at gmail.com.
00:29:37.200 --> 00:29:37.759
Yes, deep.
00:29:37.920 --> 00:29:40.000
Yeah, so that's all gonna be in the show notes.
00:29:40.160 --> 00:29:44.960
So, Chassity, thank you for such an inspiring, thoughtful, provoking conversation.
00:29:45.119 --> 00:29:45.839
It was awesome.
00:29:46.000 --> 00:29:46.720
It really was.
00:29:46.960 --> 00:29:55.200
You're reminding us today that our careers can change, our roles can change, our circumstances can change, and even the titles people give us can change.
00:29:55.359 --> 00:29:58.079
But our true identity goes much deeper than a little.
00:29:58.319 --> 00:30:01.920
To everyone listening, I want to leave you with Chassity's powerful questions.
00:30:02.160 --> 00:30:05.039
