Ten extra hours a week sounds impossible until you see where they are leaking. We talk with simplified productivity strategist and author Nichica Melton about why so many high achievers feel maxed out even when they are doing “all the right things,” and how burnout often comes from spending time on motion instead of investing time for a real return.
We get concrete about what simplified productivity looks like in real life: why traditional to-do lists can backfire, how “busy” becomes a hamster wheel, and the warning signs your habits are working against you, like a mind that will not rest at night and a constant pull in ten directions. Nichica shares the core idea behind her book Cut the BS (where BS means Bogus Strategies), including a practical mindset shift around celebrating small wins and letting go of the pressure to copy someone else’s routine, like forcing an earlier start time that does not fit your season.
We also dig into boundaries and time protection when everything feels urgent, including one of the most memorable reminders: someone else’s urgency is not your emergency. From goal setting that breaks down yearly vision into weekly action, to collaboration as a productivity strategy through delegation, automation, and the right support, this conversation is built for entrepreneurs, professionals, and leaders who want sustainable time management without sacrificing their most valuable asset: themselves.
If you have ever wished for more time, more focus, and more peace, hit play, then share this with a friend and leave a review so more people can reclaim their week.

00:00:55.280 --> 00:00:55.920
That's my word.
00:00:56.079 --> 00:00:57.920
Collaboration is the key to success.
00:00:58.159 --> 00:00:59.520
So let me ask you a question.
00:00:59.840 --> 00:01:03.119
What would you do if you could get 10 hours back in your week?
00:01:03.520 --> 00:01:09.280
I know I would love to get 10 hours back in my week, Nishika, because I just said that I need more time.
00:01:10.879 --> 00:01:12.640
More hours in a day, right?
00:01:13.280 --> 00:01:20.560
Would you grow your business, spend more time with your family, rest, work on the dream you've been putting off?
00:01:20.719 --> 00:01:21.200
Yes.
00:01:21.519 --> 00:01:23.840
Or simply give yourself permission to breathe.
00:01:24.000 --> 00:01:25.040
I would love to do that.
00:01:25.200 --> 00:01:26.400
How about you, Nishka?
00:01:26.560 --> 00:01:26.879
Breathe.
00:01:27.599 --> 00:01:28.400
All the time.
00:01:29.200 --> 00:01:48.560
My guest today, Nishika Melton, is a simplified productivity strategist who helps high-achieving professionals and entrepreneurs reclaim 10 hours back into every week, giving them the opportunity to reach their goals and walk in their full potential without sacrificing their most powerful asset, themselves.
00:01:48.959 --> 00:01:51.040
Nishika is the author of Cut the BS.
00:01:51.280 --> 00:01:51.599
First, Mr.
00:01:51.680 --> 00:01:52.640
Nishika, I said BS.
00:01:53.120 --> 00:01:55.280
I know what I was thinking when I saw BS, right?
00:01:55.840 --> 00:02:02.400
Seven simple strategies to unlock high productivity, where she challenges us to rethink what productivity really means.
00:02:02.560 --> 00:02:12.800
Today we're going to talk about productivity, priorities, time management, burnout, and how we can accomplish more of what matters most without losing ourselves in the process.
00:02:13.120 --> 00:02:16.560
So, Nishito, welcome to the Ready Set Collaborate.
00:02:16.639 --> 00:02:18.000
Say hello to the audience.
00:02:18.319 --> 00:02:19.919
Hello, audience.
00:02:20.159 --> 00:02:22.159
It's so good to be here again.
00:02:22.319 --> 00:02:24.080
I am a repeat customer.
00:02:24.319 --> 00:02:24.960
Yes.
00:02:25.360 --> 00:02:29.919
And we all we live, we don't know how to stop talking because we just have that energy with each other.
00:02:30.159 --> 00:02:30.400
Yes.
00:02:30.639 --> 00:02:33.680
I am so happy you're back on here, and I'm going to be on her podcast.
00:02:33.759 --> 00:02:36.240
So we just receive back and forth here.
00:02:36.479 --> 00:02:44.960
But yeah, but no, this is actually a great time to really talk about productivity because you believe it's October, it's almost November, and they got Christmas stuff out.
00:02:45.840 --> 00:02:51.039
Listen, they started putting Christmas stuff out in July in North Carolina.
00:02:51.919 --> 00:02:53.039
Like what are we doing?
00:02:53.520 --> 00:02:54.159
Exactly.
00:02:54.400 --> 00:02:54.879
Exactly.
00:02:55.039 --> 00:02:55.439
Exactly.
00:02:55.520 --> 00:02:57.919
Yeah, no, it's it's the time is gone by.
00:02:58.000 --> 00:03:01.599
I love how you say reclaim 10 hours back every week.
00:03:01.840 --> 00:03:05.520
That that would be a dream as far as reclaiming the definitely.
00:03:05.599 --> 00:03:08.639
But I am so happy that you're back on uh Ready to Collaborate podcast.
00:03:08.719 --> 00:03:09.840
So let me ask you a question.
00:03:10.080 --> 00:03:17.280
So you say help people reclaim 10 hours of hours per week, where are the most high achievers losing their 10 hours?
00:03:17.919 --> 00:03:26.879
So there's a couple of different categories of high-achieving professionals, even high achieving entrepreneurs.
00:03:27.199 --> 00:03:34.319
You've got those who understand that time is something that you invest.
00:03:35.039 --> 00:03:36.639
You invest your time.
00:03:36.879 --> 00:03:40.800
That way you get a return on your investment.
00:03:41.280 --> 00:03:48.719
So when you invest your time, you're doing things that are intentionally going to move the needle forward.
00:03:49.199 --> 00:03:59.439
You're clear on your goals, you're clear on the people that you need to connect with, the ways that you need to connect with them.
00:03:59.520 --> 00:04:01.599
And so you're investing your time.
00:04:01.759 --> 00:04:08.960
And then you've got the other category of high-achieving professionals, entrepreneurs who spend their time.
00:04:09.360 --> 00:04:26.000
When you spend your time doing a lot of different things that don't really connect to what you say you want your end result to be, the only thing you wind up with is chaos and exhaustion because you're spending it.
00:04:26.160 --> 00:04:28.079
There's no return on investment.
00:04:28.240 --> 00:04:30.000
That's not a play on words.
00:04:30.160 --> 00:04:30.800
That's real.
00:04:30.879 --> 00:04:32.000
That's real talk.
00:04:32.240 --> 00:04:35.920
Because I can spend my time doing busy work.
00:04:36.160 --> 00:04:43.839
I can spend my time looking like I'm getting all the things done because I'm moving and shaking and moving and shaking.
00:04:44.240 --> 00:04:53.360
But what I'm spending my time doing and who I'm spending my time on, it's not giving me a return.
00:04:53.759 --> 00:05:05.439
So I'm working twice as hard or three times as hard trying to move that same needle forward versus in the other category who's learned how to invest.
00:05:05.920 --> 00:05:12.240
I'm very strategic, I'm very intentional, and I move in that way.
00:05:12.560 --> 00:05:13.439
Awesome, awesome.
00:05:13.519 --> 00:05:14.079
I love that.
00:05:14.240 --> 00:05:18.079
So what led you to become a simplified productivity strategist?
00:05:18.879 --> 00:05:23.279
Like I think I did that the last time I was on too.
00:05:24.079 --> 00:05:43.439
Have experienced in real time what it is to be running on fumes, to get comfortable being on fumes and spending my time doing all these different things for all these different people.
00:05:43.839 --> 00:05:52.480
But then when it came time for me to get to where I needed to go, there it was crickets.
00:05:52.720 --> 00:05:55.600
There wasn't anybody around that could help me.
00:05:55.839 --> 00:06:01.920
So I was constantly drained, constantly depleted, constantly trying to figure out what do I need to do?
00:06:02.000 --> 00:06:02.720
What do I need to do?
00:06:02.800 --> 00:06:04.399
What I what do I need to do?
00:06:04.639 --> 00:06:09.360
I tried many different productivity programs.
00:06:09.839 --> 00:06:27.439
And what I realized, Wanda, and it took me a minute to realize it, was that these programs, and no no harm, no shade, no disrespect, but these programs were written by men who had wives doing what I was doing.
00:06:27.759 --> 00:06:42.560
So they weren't writing and creating their programs for me because they had a wife doing what I was doing, taking care of the kids, working, all the things, but not really being the best productive version of myself.
00:06:42.720 --> 00:06:47.360
And so what they were suggesting that needed to be done wouldn't work.
00:06:47.519 --> 00:06:50.560
It wouldn't work for my life, it wouldn't work for my schedule.
00:06:50.639 --> 00:06:54.800
I had three small children, I was working a full-time job.
00:06:55.040 --> 00:07:08.240
I'm Terea would say I was a tripreneur, I was trying this home-based business, that all these different things trying to figure out where my lane was.
00:07:08.720 --> 00:07:14.319
And so I was always tired, physically tired, mentally tired, just always tired.
00:07:14.399 --> 00:07:17.040
But I knew how to I knew how to turn that smile on though.
00:07:17.279 --> 00:07:19.600
I could fake the funk real hard.
00:07:19.839 --> 00:07:25.680
And it just got to the point where I was just like, God, I can't, I can't do this any longer.
00:07:25.839 --> 00:07:28.160
I need the formula, I need the framework.
00:07:28.399 --> 00:07:38.160
And so God just began showing me a simple way because there was already so many other complicated things in my life.
00:07:38.319 --> 00:07:40.959
I don't need anything else complicated at it.
00:07:41.040 --> 00:07:52.000
And the way my brain works, when people try to present complicated things to me, my brain immediately rejects it and says, there's a simpler way.
00:08:22.480 --> 00:08:22.879
That's right.
00:08:23.040 --> 00:08:30.240
And I was gonna ask you, but you already kind of answered about your own relationship that actually had you influence the work that you do today.
00:08:30.480 --> 00:08:32.399
So let's rethink about productivity.
00:08:32.559 --> 00:08:36.240
When you say simplify, simplify productivity, what does that mean?
00:08:36.320 --> 00:08:38.799
And how is it different from traditional time management?
00:08:38.879 --> 00:08:43.279
Because I know look, we're in corporate, you got to do time management, you got a traditional time.
00:08:43.360 --> 00:08:44.720
So, how does that differ from that?
00:08:45.279 --> 00:08:51.360
So, I'll give you one example that I used to get a lot of eyebrow, the eyebrow raises.
00:08:52.639 --> 00:09:00.720
Because in corporate America and in traditional productivity, they teach you to do your list.
00:09:00.879 --> 00:09:04.399
Write your list, write your list out, your to-do list.
00:09:05.120 --> 00:09:12.399
When you purchase planners, they'll have a section on the page, on every single page for your to-do list.
00:09:12.480 --> 00:09:15.279
That's the traditional way of productivity.
00:09:15.440 --> 00:09:23.440
And all you are doing, ladies and gentlemen of the jury, all you are doing is feeding overwhelm and burnout.
00:09:23.519 --> 00:09:33.120
You are setting yourself up to be shut down because we can use our imagination for a little bit.
00:09:33.360 --> 00:09:41.440
If you have your to-do list, if you have your planning time, which everyone should have a planning time, mine is on Sundays.
00:09:41.679 --> 00:09:53.279
You have your planning time, you do your to-do list for Monday, and you put seven things on that list that you say you have to get done or that you want to get done.
00:09:53.519 --> 00:10:04.720
And then Monday comes and you get the text message, the email, the phone call, the whatever, all the disruptions, and you wind up getting three things on that list done.
00:10:04.960 --> 00:10:14.000
So then what happens is the four roll over to Tuesday on top of everything else you've got to get done on Tuesday.
00:10:14.159 --> 00:10:15.759
So let's say you have seven more.
00:10:15.840 --> 00:10:18.080
So that's 11 things on Tuesday.
00:10:18.399 --> 00:10:42.000
You repeat that over and over so that you never feel like you're actually getting anything accomplished because the list doesn't get shorter, it gets longer with, and I had to teach this to my husband because he had taken so many productivity workshops and seminars and master classes and all the whoof.
00:10:42.320 --> 00:10:45.759
And I said, dude, that doesn't work.
00:10:46.000 --> 00:10:47.120
Why is your list?
00:10:47.360 --> 00:10:50.720
You don't even have enough room on the page for your list.
00:10:51.120 --> 00:10:52.080
What are you doing?
00:10:52.240 --> 00:10:53.759
Let me show you what you do.
00:10:53.919 --> 00:10:55.679
So I I had to teach him.
00:10:55.919 --> 00:10:58.799
I don't do, and it's in my book.
00:10:58.960 --> 00:11:03.679
To do title of the section is to-do lists are trash.
00:11:04.480 --> 00:11:16.399
They are trash because you're there's no real celebration in your mind because visually it looks like you're not getting anything done.
00:11:16.960 --> 00:11:21.279
So the simplified way we get rid of to-do lists.
00:11:21.840 --> 00:11:26.159
Get it done, get it out, get it in the trash where it belongs.
00:11:26.399 --> 00:11:28.159
There's no place for it.
00:11:28.559 --> 00:11:29.120
I love it.
00:11:29.200 --> 00:11:31.120
And then and actually, that's my next question.
00:11:31.279 --> 00:11:36.480
So, why is so many high-achieving professionals equate being busy with being productive?
00:11:37.039 --> 00:11:46.720
Because that's how we were, that's how we were programmed for those who went to child care, who went to pre-K, kindergarten.
00:11:46.960 --> 00:11:51.039
You were given and you were taught to focus on busy work.
00:11:51.200 --> 00:11:52.000
Are you busy?
00:11:52.159 --> 00:11:53.440
Are you staying busy?
00:11:53.600 --> 00:11:59.440
You need to give word was programmed into our psyche, into our subconscious.
00:11:59.679 --> 00:12:22.159
So we're naturally looking for busy work, and you can look busy, but the reality is you're in a hamster wheel, and you're going hard, you're sweating, that wheel is turning, you're exerting a lot of energy, but you're literally at the same spot.
00:12:22.320 --> 00:12:31.840
You haven't moved anywhere for all that work that you've done, either for yourself or for somebody else.
00:12:32.159 --> 00:12:39.840
When we understand productivity, or at least let me say, simplified productivity.
00:12:40.159 --> 00:12:42.159
It's not about doing more.
00:12:42.320 --> 00:12:44.080
Busy work says more, more.
00:12:44.159 --> 00:12:45.120
That's what we're taught.
00:12:45.279 --> 00:12:48.159
That's what we're talking in every level of education.
00:12:48.320 --> 00:12:50.639
More, you got to do more, gotta do more.
00:12:50.960 --> 00:12:58.159
Even in college, if you're only taking 12 hours a semester, they will tell you that you won't graduate on time.
00:12:58.320 --> 00:13:00.000
You got to take more hours.
00:13:00.159 --> 00:13:01.679
It's always about more.
00:13:02.240 --> 00:13:14.480
But in simplified productivity, it's not about doing more, it's about doing what is going to move the needle forward, what is going to get you to your destination.
00:13:14.639 --> 00:13:49.440
And for high-achiev professional and entrepreneur, they have an idea of where they want to go, what they want their the end result to be, but the assistance is needed in creating goals that make sense, being consistent, and then making sure that you're keeping things simple, that you're delegating, you're automating, even deleting.
00:13:49.600 --> 00:13:52.960
There's some things that you just need to say no to.
00:13:53.360 --> 00:13:53.679
Yeah.
00:13:54.000 --> 00:13:55.440
I absolutely I agree with that.
00:13:55.519 --> 00:13:59.279
It's a lot of things that we take on ourselves, and we don't know how to say no.
00:13:59.440 --> 00:14:03.279
That was that was the biggest thing coming from corporate that I had to learn.
00:14:03.519 --> 00:14:06.960
Of course, you gotta, when you're in corporate, you gotta do with that as far as what the thing is.
00:14:07.120 --> 00:14:08.159
I was a team leader.
00:14:08.559 --> 00:14:12.799
It was when I left corporate that I said, no.
00:14:14.960 --> 00:14:16.080
No, I'm not doing it.
00:14:16.159 --> 00:14:17.039
So let me ask you something.
00:14:17.120 --> 00:14:22.240
So, what are some warning signs that our productivity habits are actually working against us?
00:14:23.039 --> 00:14:31.759
One very obvious warning sign is when you try to sleep and your brain won't let you rest.
00:14:32.080 --> 00:14:40.480
That means that your wheels are turning and they've been turning all day in multiple directions.
00:14:40.720 --> 00:14:47.679
Another warning sign is when it's hard for you to focus on one particular thing.
00:14:47.840 --> 00:15:12.799
We like to medicate that now, and I'm not saying that ADHD, ADD are not real, they are real, though those are real things, and then in some people, it's a situation of you're so used to being busy juggling, throwing all the balls up, and you haven't learned how to hone in.
00:15:13.679 --> 00:15:39.440
There is a technique called the Pomodoro technique, and the premise is you spend 25 minutes on one task, give one thing 25 minutes of focus, then you take a break for five minutes, and you do that four times so that the last time you do the 25 minutes, you actually step away and take a 15 to 30 minute break.
00:15:39.759 --> 00:15:52.399
I talk about that in the book, but I also have remixed the Pomodoro technique because I'm a person that once I get honed in, I want to finish it.
00:15:52.480 --> 00:15:56.720
I don't want to be interrupted, I want to finish what I'm working on.
00:15:57.039 --> 00:16:09.600
So if you have been acclimated too busy, you have been patting yourself on the back because you're an expert multitasker.
00:16:10.080 --> 00:16:34.960
But the reality is, it's not that you're a multitasker, it's just that you have learned not to the best benefit, but you have learned how to throw the ball all the balls up, and you have learned how to function being pulled in 10 different directions.
00:16:49.679 --> 00:16:50.320
That is so true.
00:16:50.399 --> 00:16:55.919
And I tell you, I'm definitely one of those warning signs because love is that oh, I gotta do this.
00:16:56.000 --> 00:17:01.840
When you're doing so many things, and I gotta work and I tell, okay, God, I have to actually say, Peace be still.
00:17:02.000 --> 00:17:02.320
Yes.
00:17:02.480 --> 00:17:06.720
With my mind to be still, to just calm down, don't be anxious.
00:17:06.960 --> 00:17:08.000
That's what we end up doing.
00:17:08.079 --> 00:17:11.279
We be anxious, and then we think about everything we have to do.
00:17:11.519 --> 00:17:13.839
Oh, I gotta do this, and then somebody's pulling you from this way.
00:17:14.000 --> 00:17:15.039
Say, can you do this?
00:17:15.200 --> 00:17:16.799
And I'm sounding like my husband.
00:17:17.200 --> 00:17:20.960
As soon as I come in, I'm I'm at a mastermind all weekend, right?
00:17:21.039 --> 00:17:24.319
As soon as I get home from the mastermind, my mind, I'm learning all this stuff.
00:17:24.480 --> 00:17:26.079
Oh, can we work on this?
00:17:26.559 --> 00:17:27.680
I think time.
00:17:28.480 --> 00:17:29.279
Give me the break.
00:17:30.400 --> 00:17:31.279
Give me a break.
00:17:31.359 --> 00:17:32.480
So let me talk forever.
00:17:32.559 --> 00:17:35.519
So let's talk about your book entitled Cut the BS.
00:17:35.920 --> 00:17:36.559
Yes.
00:17:37.119 --> 00:17:40.480
What is what inspired you to write this with the bold title?
00:17:40.960 --> 00:17:44.880
BS stands for bogus strategies.
00:17:45.039 --> 00:17:48.079
Okay, we had to emphasize that because I know I was thinking about BS.
00:17:48.880 --> 00:17:49.599
Say that again.
00:17:49.680 --> 00:17:51.200
What does BS stand for?
00:17:51.839 --> 00:17:54.160
Bogus Strategies.
00:17:54.559 --> 00:18:01.759
So anything bogus, it doesn't matter how you dress it up, what you put on it, what you want to call it.
00:18:01.839 --> 00:18:02.720
It's not gonna work.
00:18:02.960 --> 00:18:09.359
It's just not gonna work, and so we're cutting through with this book, which I don't know.
00:18:09.519 --> 00:18:15.920
No, my screen's not gonna let me show it, but we're cutting through all the crap that doesn't work.
00:18:16.240 --> 00:18:51.200
So many hacks, and I was talking about this week because I'm about to get just thoroughly annoyed, because everybody wants to get in the productivity lane all of a sudden, and they've got all these little hacks and tips that they want to throw out to people, and it's like stay in your lane, ma'am and sir, stay in your lane because you're when you talk about productivity that's connected to people's mental health, and you got to be careful with what you're throwing out there.
00:18:52.000 --> 00:18:55.200
This book, and it's not a thick book.
00:18:55.279 --> 00:18:56.559
I wish I could show it to y'all.
00:18:56.640 --> 00:19:00.079
It's not a thick book, but within it is so power-packed.
00:19:00.319 --> 00:19:06.400
This simple strategies to unlock higher productivity.
00:19:06.640 --> 00:19:18.160
I break it down from time management, the area, looking at the area that you work in, looking at the people who are around you.
00:19:18.240 --> 00:19:47.200
Look, we look at mindset, we're covering the whole gamut in a very simplified manner that you can literally, whether you are working as somebody's J O B, you're a budding entrepreneur, a seasoned entrepreneur, you can literally take the sections in this book, apply them immediately, and watch the change happen in your world.
00:19:47.519 --> 00:19:47.839
Wow.
00:19:48.079 --> 00:19:50.240
I got, and we're gonna talk about how people can get that book.
00:19:50.319 --> 00:19:51.680
So I gotta get that book myself.
00:19:51.839 --> 00:19:58.880
So without giving away the whole book, yeah, what is one of the seven strategies that can make an immediate difference?
00:19:59.759 --> 00:20:00.400
Huh.
00:20:01.359 --> 00:20:02.319
Celebrating small wins.
00:20:02.799 --> 00:20:03.440
They gotta get the book.
00:20:03.519 --> 00:20:09.200
Just get something to get all the get all the tea, you have to get the book.
00:20:09.440 --> 00:20:14.319
But one of one of the strategies in there is celebrating small wins.
00:20:15.039 --> 00:20:37.039
You have to learn how to celebrate yourself and to somebody else, because try to gauge or determine the parameters based off of other people's opinions, and the reality is that's stop letting other people determine what success looks like for you.
00:20:37.279 --> 00:20:38.400
Stop, stop.
00:20:39.200 --> 00:20:44.799
You get to celebrate at whatever level it's important to you.
00:20:45.119 --> 00:20:56.720
And I I've talked about how for some people, being able to drive from A to B and not experience road rage, that's a win.
00:20:56.960 --> 00:20:58.319
Celebrate that.
00:20:59.440 --> 00:21:00.480
That's forgiveness.
00:21:03.200 --> 00:21:09.119
Yes, nobody else may not understand that, but that is a win for you.
00:21:09.759 --> 00:21:25.039
And to go along with the book, I have my mind in my business planner, and there's a section, there's a page at the end of every week where you reflect and you talk about your wins.
00:21:25.279 --> 00:21:32.160
You talk about what do I need to make my accountability partner aware of?
00:21:32.480 --> 00:21:33.680
What hit me wrong?
00:21:33.839 --> 00:21:37.519
There was something I was supposed to do, but I just didn't do it very well.
00:21:37.680 --> 00:21:39.599
What do I need to work on?
00:21:39.759 --> 00:21:47.440
All of that is in the planner and it complements the book just to take it a few steps further.
00:21:47.680 --> 00:21:48.480
That's awesome.
00:21:48.640 --> 00:21:48.960
I love it.
00:21:49.039 --> 00:21:49.359
I love it.
00:21:49.440 --> 00:21:50.319
We had a girl.
00:21:50.640 --> 00:21:56.880
I can sit on the podcast yes, but what is one productivity belief or happen you wish more entrepreneurs will let go of?
00:21:57.680 --> 00:21:58.319
Just one.
00:21:58.400 --> 00:21:59.279
I know it's a lot.
00:22:00.319 --> 00:22:03.359
One that I wish they would let go of.
00:22:04.480 --> 00:22:18.880
I would say depending on your calendar and your lifestyle, it may not always be feasible for you to start earlier.
00:22:19.279 --> 00:22:30.960
With all of the productivity programs that I had tried, it was always about starting your day earlier, starting your day earlier, starting your day earlier.
00:22:31.200 --> 00:22:34.079
And that's not feasible for everybody.
00:22:34.240 --> 00:22:39.599
It wasn't feasible for me at the time because I had three children.
00:22:39.759 --> 00:22:43.519
So I woke up, I was already getting up early.
00:22:43.759 --> 00:22:50.960
Then I had to get them together, get to daycare, and get to work by eight o'clock.
00:22:51.200 --> 00:22:53.440
So there was no getting up earlier.
00:22:53.759 --> 00:23:00.000
That seems to be the trend in a lot of productivity programs.
00:23:00.799 --> 00:23:01.680
Your day earlier.
00:23:01.839 --> 00:23:03.599
No, start your day early.
00:23:03.839 --> 00:23:08.559
Whatever early looks like for you, it might be seven o'clock, it might be eight o'clock.
00:23:08.799 --> 00:23:15.920
Those individuals who pride themselves on getting up at three o'clock in the morning, four o'clock in the morning, every single day.
00:23:16.160 --> 00:23:18.880
My hat is off to you, but it will not be me.
00:23:19.920 --> 00:23:21.200
I will not do it.
00:23:21.440 --> 00:23:22.240
Yeah, yeah.
00:23:22.400 --> 00:23:23.519
No, you're absolutely right.
00:23:23.680 --> 00:23:26.559
Because people do start off like I don't, I'm a late nighter.
00:23:26.640 --> 00:23:29.599
So I stay up late and I that's when I get more things done.
00:23:29.839 --> 00:23:30.160
Okay.
00:23:30.640 --> 00:23:35.440
It's it's better for me to really that's when I think more and say, okay, I need to put my calendar together.
00:23:35.839 --> 00:23:36.799
We talked the first time.
00:23:37.279 --> 00:23:38.559
It's gotta be on my calendar.
00:23:38.720 --> 00:23:40.559
It's gotta be even babysitting.
00:23:40.640 --> 00:23:41.759
Okay, it's gotta be on my calendar.
00:23:41.839 --> 00:23:44.160
So let me check my calendar, see if I can babysit today.
00:23:44.400 --> 00:23:47.359
But it's so important because that's how I delegate my day.
00:23:47.599 --> 00:23:49.839
Yes, it really is how everything goes.
00:23:49.920 --> 00:23:51.680
So let's talk about the goals, one of the goals.
00:23:51.920 --> 00:23:53.599
I'm just gonna kind of go to some of these here.
00:23:53.759 --> 00:23:57.759
So how can entrepreneurs protect their energy when everything feels urgent?
00:23:58.480 --> 00:24:12.319
Couple of things on word urgent, because people will try to bring their urgency into your space, and their urgency does not mean that it's your emergency, it's urgent for them.
00:24:12.559 --> 00:24:17.359
But how does that fit into your goals for the day?
00:24:17.680 --> 00:24:29.759
And then if it's somebody that you really want to help, if you look at your week, does it make sense or do you need to refer them out to somebody?
00:24:30.000 --> 00:24:39.839
You have to be careful with those urgent quote unquote requests because everything isn't urgent.
00:24:40.079 --> 00:24:45.519
If it was that urgent, it wouldn't be so last minute if it was that urgent.
00:24:45.759 --> 00:25:01.599
So really have to, and my framework, in the framework that I created this year, I have a whole system that you run the requests through to see is this something that I need to be doing?
00:25:01.759 --> 00:25:05.200
Is it something somebody else needs to be doing?
00:25:06.000 --> 00:25:09.680
Or is it just I don't even need to worry about it somewhere else?
00:25:09.920 --> 00:25:15.759
Because your urgency is not my emergency.
00:25:16.079 --> 00:25:17.680
Oh, I love say that again.
00:25:18.000 --> 00:25:24.079
Say it again your urgency is not my emergency.
00:25:24.319 --> 00:25:25.200
Yes, yes.
00:25:25.359 --> 00:25:28.880
I love that, I love that, and then it's about delegating too.
00:25:29.119 --> 00:25:30.240
Everything's not on me.
00:25:30.480 --> 00:25:31.440
Delegate, okay.
00:25:31.519 --> 00:25:32.720
You do this, and I do this.
00:25:32.880 --> 00:25:34.559
It's about, and I tell you, I always talk about it.
00:25:34.640 --> 00:25:43.119
I don't know if I told you about my four C's in the relationship and business, communication, commitment, compromise, and consideration.
00:25:43.359 --> 00:25:48.880
All of those have to do with what we do in our relationships and in our business.
00:25:49.119 --> 00:25:55.599
So communicating to us to each other in that urgency, like you said, it's not my emergency.
00:25:55.759 --> 00:25:57.119
I'm gonna run that on my husband.
00:25:57.200 --> 00:26:00.400
You're urgent, it's not my emergency.
00:26:01.519 --> 00:26:04.079
Oh Lord, I said Nishika taught me that.
00:26:04.640 --> 00:26:07.839
Don't put my name, do not put my name in that.
00:26:09.440 --> 00:26:11.440
No, I love that dog, because that is so true.
00:26:11.599 --> 00:26:12.079
It is true.
00:26:12.480 --> 00:26:13.359
Can you come here a minute?
00:26:13.440 --> 00:26:16.160
And it's really because I'm always busy, I'm always doing stuff.
00:26:16.240 --> 00:26:19.119
So when I do come right in, he's like, Can you do this for me?
00:26:19.200 --> 00:26:20.160
That's his urgency.
00:26:20.319 --> 00:26:22.319
Give me a minute, it's not my emergency.
00:26:22.559 --> 00:26:23.359
So thank you.
00:26:23.440 --> 00:26:24.319
Thank you for bringing that out.
00:26:24.400 --> 00:26:25.119
I appreciate that.
00:26:25.279 --> 00:26:31.279
All right, as we go along here, so let's start, let's talk about the purpose for their collaboration.
00:26:31.440 --> 00:26:37.279
How can I make sure their schedules actually reflect their biggest goals and priorities?
00:26:37.759 --> 00:26:47.440
So you've got to make sure, number one, that you have established what your big goal is for the year.
00:26:47.680 --> 00:26:55.359
And then you break that down by quarter, you break it then down by month, then you break it down by week.
00:26:55.440 --> 00:26:59.440
And these are all things that I teach my clients to do.
00:26:59.680 --> 00:27:12.559
And then you make sure that what you're building for the day is going to get you towards that end result that you said you wanted to be able to accomplish.
00:27:13.039 --> 00:27:20.160
Come whether you're cutting it off Saturday, cutting it off Sunday, whatever your cutoff is for the week.
00:27:20.480 --> 00:27:25.839
You've got to make sure that everything is digestible.
00:27:26.559 --> 00:27:47.920
Because if you look at it and it makes your head hurt, it makes you feel overwhelmed, it makes you feel lost, then hasn't been taken down to its simplest form, or it's actually not something that is in alignment with where you want to go.
00:27:48.480 --> 00:28:01.440
It could be possible, and I would only know this by talking to the person, it could be possible that you've actually taken on somebody else's goals and made them your own.
00:28:01.759 --> 00:28:02.720
I love that.
00:28:02.960 --> 00:28:03.680
I love that.
00:28:03.759 --> 00:28:04.799
That is so true.
00:28:05.119 --> 00:28:08.480
So, how can entrepreneurs let me ask this question here?
00:28:08.640 --> 00:28:08.799
Okay.
00:28:08.880 --> 00:28:14.240
So, since this is ready, set collaborate, how has collaboration helped you grow personally and professionally?
00:28:15.119 --> 00:28:16.240
Oh man.
00:28:17.279 --> 00:28:22.960
Collaboration, how I'm on this podcast, collaborating.
00:28:23.359 --> 00:28:32.960
You have to know that, like I mentioned earlier, staying in your lane, you can't bring everything to everybody.
00:28:33.200 --> 00:28:37.680
So you partner with other people who can fill that gap.
00:28:38.000 --> 00:28:46.000
And by them filling gap, they're taking that off your plate so you can focus on what you need to focus on.
00:28:46.240 --> 00:28:52.160
It's not about them stealing a client or getting more stage time.
00:28:52.720 --> 00:28:53.920
Lord have mercy.
00:28:54.079 --> 00:28:56.880
The word of God says that your gifts will make room for you.
00:28:56.960 --> 00:29:01.759
So I ain't got to be worrying about all that little simple stuff.
00:29:01.920 --> 00:29:03.839
That's simple in a different way.
00:29:04.079 --> 00:29:10.079
Yes, collaboration, that's like the golden way of thinking.
00:29:10.400 --> 00:29:19.599
We have to collaborate with one another in order to properly fill the needs of the people that we're called to serve.
00:29:19.839 --> 00:29:21.839
Because you you cannot do it all.
00:29:22.079 --> 00:29:22.799
Absolutely.
00:29:22.960 --> 00:29:30.160
And that brings us into how can collaboration itself become a strategy, a productivity strategy rather than trying to do it everything yourself.
00:29:30.559 --> 00:29:33.759
A person hires a VA, that's a collaboration.
00:29:33.920 --> 00:29:40.079
Now, they may be independent contracted employee, but still that's a collaboration.
00:29:40.319 --> 00:29:57.119
When you hire an editor, a videographer, when you hire an event planner, yes, you're paying them, but that is a collaboration because you're giving that person who has the expertise, and please make sure they have the expertise.
00:29:57.680 --> 00:29:58.000
Okay.
00:29:58.319 --> 00:30:00.400
There's so much bootleg out there.
00:30:00.559 --> 00:30:03.119
Please make sure they have the expertise.
00:30:03.279 --> 00:30:08.720
Yes, you are hiring them to take that off your plate.
00:30:08.880 --> 00:30:19.839
So you can give them the task, you can have checkpoints where you're telling them this is what I want done by XYZ date, and then they deliver.
00:30:20.000 --> 00:30:21.519
That's a collaboration.
00:30:21.839 --> 00:30:30.079
You also, if you're putting on an event, you and I both had our events on the same day in September.
00:30:30.319 --> 00:30:37.279
We had speakers come in to our events to impart into the people who came.
00:30:37.599 --> 00:30:51.519
We collaborated with those individuals because they were bringing a piece to the puzzle that we did not have, or either we didn't have the time to put it in there.
00:30:52.000 --> 00:30:53.759
So you collaborate.
00:30:54.640 --> 00:30:55.359
I love it.
00:30:55.519 --> 00:30:56.000
I love it.
00:30:56.079 --> 00:30:59.440
So listen, I'm gonna go, I'm gonna run through these and you're gonna tell me some answers here.
00:30:59.519 --> 00:31:01.359
So practical takeaways.
00:31:01.599 --> 00:31:02.559
Oh, okay.
00:31:02.799 --> 00:31:09.839
Okay, so if someone listening feels completely overwhelmed right now, what is the first thing you would tell them to do?
00:31:10.480 --> 00:31:11.759
Tell me their vision.
00:31:12.319 --> 00:31:13.200
Okay, good.
00:31:13.519 --> 00:31:18.079
What is one simple change the listeners could make this week to begin reclaiming their time?
00:31:18.720 --> 00:31:22.000
Simple look at your tasks that you're doing and simplify them.
00:31:22.240 --> 00:31:22.559
Okay.
00:31:23.119 --> 00:31:27.759
If you sell me received 10 extra hours in your own week, what would you choose to spend then?
00:31:28.720 --> 00:31:39.680
If I were able to reclaim 10 more hours in my week, I would start figuring out how I could build my nest egg.
00:31:39.920 --> 00:31:45.759
Because when I retire, I don't plan on being in the same place for too long.
00:31:46.000 --> 00:31:47.759
I want to travel.
00:31:48.720 --> 00:31:50.079
I'm right with you.
00:31:54.400 --> 00:31:55.519
Go to Rome, Italy.
00:31:55.759 --> 00:31:56.160
Yes.
00:31:56.480 --> 00:31:57.279
All the same.
00:31:57.440 --> 00:31:58.720
I am right with you here.
00:31:58.880 --> 00:32:03.440
So, what do you want your readers to walk away with after reading Cut the BS?
00:32:04.480 --> 00:32:09.519
I want them, if they read the book, don't skim the book.
00:32:09.680 --> 00:32:21.839
If you read the book, do the activities, you will walk away with a blueprint that will make your personal and professional life easier.
00:32:22.079 --> 00:32:33.519
When I say that I position you to reclaim 10 hours, I'm not adding time back into anyone's day because there's only 24 hours in a day, no matter what day you go to.
00:32:33.759 --> 00:32:37.680
But there are things taking up your time that shouldn't.
00:32:37.920 --> 00:32:55.680
So when you read this book, you're gonna have a blueprint, you're gonna have the tools necessary to help you navigate in a way that gets you to your end result, and you're not any longer sacrificing yourself.
00:32:56.319 --> 00:32:57.119
That's great.
00:32:57.279 --> 00:32:57.920
I love that.
00:32:58.079 --> 00:32:58.559
I love it.
00:32:58.720 --> 00:33:07.039
So finally, Anishika, what is one message you want every high-achieving professional and entrepreneur to remember about their time and about themselves?
00:33:07.680 --> 00:33:12.960
Time is the one resource that we don't ever get back.
00:33:13.200 --> 00:33:17.119
You get to spend it or you get to invest it.
00:33:17.519 --> 00:33:27.920
And you need to learn how to invest your time because we have been programmed since we were itty beady to spend our time.
00:33:28.079 --> 00:33:30.079
And those are words that are used.
00:33:30.240 --> 00:33:32.480
How are you spending your time?
00:33:32.640 --> 00:33:35.119
What are you spending your time on?
00:33:35.599 --> 00:33:38.799
Learn how to invest your time.
00:33:39.200 --> 00:33:41.359
Yeah, time is very precious these days.
00:33:41.599 --> 00:33:42.079
It is.
00:33:42.319 --> 00:33:46.480
So tell us how can people get your book and how they can get in touch with you?
00:33:46.880 --> 00:34:06.640
Yes, so people can go to minding my business dot vip slash the number 10 H R S, 10 hours, minding my business dot VIP slash.
00:34:07.359 --> 00:34:14.639
When you go to that site, you're gonna see an image that says, where am I really?
00:34:15.119 --> 00:34:25.039
You're gonna click on that image, and there is a free tool there that you definitely 125% need to utilize.
00:34:25.280 --> 00:34:31.519
And then also on that website, you're gonna get access to how to follow me on social media.
00:34:31.679 --> 00:34:45.119
You're gonna get access to the book, you're gonna get access to t-shirts, all the different things that are in alignment with simplified productivity and reclaiming your time.
00:34:45.840 --> 00:34:46.400
I love it.
00:34:46.480 --> 00:34:46.800
I love it.
00:34:46.880 --> 00:34:55.679
And actually, when you see it on YouTube, you're gonna see in the back of her head, it has www.minding my business dot vip slash 10 hours.
00:34:56.159 --> 00:34:56.639
That's right.
00:34:56.719 --> 00:34:58.320
Yes, so you're gonna send that to me anyway.
00:34:58.400 --> 00:34:59.760
It's gonna be in the show notes anyway.
00:34:59.840 --> 00:35:00.719
So you send that to me.
00:35:00.800 --> 00:35:07.679
I'm gonna put it in the show notes so they can definitely know how to get in touch with you because this was an i listen, I was really enjoying this, Nishka.
00:35:07.840 --> 00:35:19.440
So thank you for joining me today and reminding us that productivity isn't simply about doing more, it's about being intentional with our time, energy, and priorities.
00:35:19.599 --> 00:35:24.320
I especially love the reminder that we are our most powerful asset.
00:35:24.639 --> 00:35:29.840
We can have goals, businesses, careers, families, and responsibilities.
00:35:29.920 --> 00:35:36.079
But if we continually sacrifice ourselves trying to manage them all, eventually something has to give.
00:35:36.159 --> 00:35:37.840
And we don't want to give up our lives, right?
00:35:38.000 --> 00:35:40.639
So, to everyone listening, here's a question I want you to take with you.
00:35:40.719 --> 00:35:44.639
If you could reclaim 10 hours of your week, what would you do with them?
00:35:44.960 --> 00:35:45.840
Think about that.
00:35:46.079 --> 00:35:56.880
Nishika has taught us a lot of things as far as she's an educator, I tell you, she really taught me a lot of things, especially with the warning signs about my mind steady going as I'm trying to sleep.
00:35:57.039 --> 00:35:59.599
So I want you to make sure you connect with Nishika.
00:35:59.760 --> 00:36:03.840
I encourage you to connect with her and check out her book, Cut the BS.
00:36:04.239 --> 00:36:15.280

So until next time, protect your time, be intentional about your priorities, and don't become so busy building your success that you forget to care of the person doing the building.
00:36:39.119 --> 00:36:39.920
That is us.
00:36:40.079 --> 00:36:41.280
Thank you again, Nishika.
00:36:41.840 --> 00:36:42.480
Thank you.
00:36:42.639 --> 00:36:43.519
Thank you.
00:36:44.320 --> 00:36:45.039
