00:00:00.000 -->
00:00:02.000Welcome back to the Queenwood Sanders Podcast.
00:00:02.160 -->
00:00:08.720I am John Tay, and today we are talking about how to stop blocking your progress.
00:00:08.880 -->
00:00:09.359That's right.
00:00:09.439 -->
00:00:16.239I'm giving you the T on what is standing in the way of you and moving forward because again, we are in a season of rebuilding.
00:00:16.320 -->
00:00:18.079So we want to step toward that vision.
00:00:18.160 -->
00:00:18.960But guess what?
00:00:19.120 -->
00:00:24.480There's always something, always something, right, that keeps us from moving toward that vision that God has given us.
00:00:24.640 -->
00:00:26.320And a lot of times it's you.
00:00:26.559 -->
00:00:27.839Sometimes it's you.
00:00:28.000 -->
00:00:29.679Sometimes it's us, me.
00:00:29.920 -->
00:00:33.359I'm still there working and pawing and scratching my way out.
00:00:33.520 -->
00:00:41.200But today we are going to talk about ways that we can overcome these three things that are blocking our progress.
00:00:41.600 -->
00:00:52.719You're listening to the Queen with Standards Podcast, where we journey together to rediscover joy, clarity, purpose, and walk in strong faith the entire way together.
00:00:52.960 -->
00:00:53.759Keep it right here.
00:00:53.840 -->
00:00:57.759I'm your host, John Tay, and let's get into this week's new episode.
00:00:59.679 -->
00:01:07.200Okay, we are back, and we are focusing on how we can stop getting stuck and blocking our own blessings.
00:01:07.280 -->
00:01:10.879And as I said, sometimes it's you, sometimes it's me, sometimes it's us, sis.
00:01:11.200 -->
00:01:13.040We have to acknowledge that, okay?
00:01:13.200 -->
00:01:15.120So we're gonna talk about three things, okay?
00:01:15.200 -->
00:01:23.359We're gonna first identify three main things that are blocking our progress of taking steps toward the vision that God has given us in this season.
00:01:23.599 -->
00:01:26.079We are also gonna talk about how we can overcome them, right?
00:01:26.159 -->
00:01:29.280Because why are we listening to the bad without having a solution?
00:01:29.359 -->
00:01:31.280You know, you always want to come with a solution.
00:01:31.359 -->
00:01:33.519So I got you on that today, okay?
00:01:33.760 -->
00:01:38.560So first and foremost, let's talk about how detrimental it is to have blocked progress, okay?
00:01:38.640 -->
00:01:39.920Because it's not just a small thing.
00:01:40.079 -->
00:01:45.120We all know that we don't want to rush, we don't want to move in timing that is not God's timing.
00:01:45.280 -->
00:01:52.799But once we feel like we've received a word from him, we've received direction and marching orders and all the things, and then we're like, okay, I'm ready.
00:01:52.959 -->
00:01:55.920Sometimes we get stuck in preparation mode, okay.
00:01:56.000 -->
00:01:59.760This is not one of the three things that I was gonna give you, but this is the important piece, right?
00:01:59.920 -->
00:02:04.719We get stuck in preparation and really it's a great way to distract ourselves, okay?
00:02:04.959 -->
00:02:13.439I mean, if you're working on a book, if you're working on a new business, if you're working, whatever it is, the small details can keep you inundated.
00:02:13.599 -->
00:02:15.039It just can keep you busy.
00:02:15.120 -->
00:02:19.280And it's especially the creative piece because we all love the creative parts, right?
00:02:19.360 -->
00:02:24.800Well, not everybody, because some people are the executors and some people need help with the creative piece.
00:02:24.960 -->
00:02:29.919Whatever position that you are in, one or the other, we can get stuck in those phases that we like, right?
00:02:30.000 -->
00:02:31.439And we know that there's more than one phase.
00:02:31.599 -->
00:02:41.280We can't just get stuck in the creative mode, and we definitely can't just execute because you have to focus on the details in order to make your execution excellent and successful, right?
00:02:41.439 -->
00:02:43.520And so we have to be careful of that.
00:02:43.759 -->
00:02:47.280If you're a perfectionist, I'm with you, girl, because I'm a perfectionist.
00:02:47.439 -->
00:02:54.639However, I really had to learn that nothing is perfect, you have to have a starting point, and also this is also the time of AI.
00:02:54.719 -->
00:02:56.080I'm kind of a dinosaur.
00:02:56.240 -->
00:02:57.840I was anyway until recently.
00:02:58.159 -->
00:02:59.280I was like, well, I'm a writer.
00:02:59.439 -->
00:03:00.719Why in the world am I using this?
00:03:00.879 -->
00:03:06.159But really, it saves so much time, it saves you time and energy.
00:03:06.639 -->
00:03:09.759And we don't have a lot of that, right?
00:03:10.240 -->
00:03:13.520So that's one of the things I just want to jump out with and say first.
00:03:13.680 -->
00:03:23.759If you are preparing to do your next thing and you find yourself day after day after day working on small details here, small details there, sometimes you just have to pick up the mic and hit record.
00:03:24.000 -->
00:03:28.560Worry about the details later, but let me record and get this off my heart and my mind.
00:03:28.719 -->
00:03:34.479And that first step will help to propel you into step two and three and four and five, right?
00:03:34.639 -->
00:03:36.000So that's what I wanted to start with.
00:03:36.080 -->
00:03:41.919But now let's get into the three main things that are blocking our progress, okay?
00:03:42.159 -->
00:03:45.199And the first is a distracted mind.
00:03:45.680 -->
00:03:48.319And it can come about in many different ways.
00:03:48.479 -->
00:03:54.479When you think about waking up in the morning and not reaching for your phone first, and some of us have to reach for our phone first, right?
00:03:54.639 -->
00:03:59.120But what are you allowing to dictate what you think about first?
00:03:59.280 -->
00:04:02.639It could be an email, it could be a message from somebody important.
00:04:02.719 -->
00:04:06.000I don't know, you check on a family member, mother, kids, whatever the case, right?
00:04:06.159 -->
00:04:09.039But it should not be content, right?
00:04:09.199 -->
00:04:10.639It should not be social media.
00:04:10.879 -->
00:04:11.360Why?
00:04:11.599 -->
00:04:19.360It's designed to keep your attention, it's designed to boost your endorphins from second to second to second.
00:04:19.519 -->
00:04:21.920And so what we want to do is avoid that.
00:04:22.160 -->
00:04:23.519Avoid that at all costs.
00:04:23.680 -->
00:04:35.040If that means putting a limit on your social media, blocking it before a certain hour, I mean, our phones have so many capabilities, whatever works for you, but just set your mind and heart to not do that first.
00:04:35.199 -->
00:04:36.319That's the first thing, right?
00:04:36.399 -->
00:04:41.120So how you start your day, but then how am I moving throughout the day, right?
00:04:41.199 -->
00:04:49.600If I know that I want to write today, if I know that I want to handle some business today, the worst thing to do is to turn on the TV.
00:04:49.839 -->
00:04:52.160Once you're in a mindset to do those things, guess what?
00:04:52.240 -->
00:04:54.000You're not in a mindset to create.
00:04:54.160 -->
00:05:01.360I am not thinking of how to bring forth the vision that God's given me, how to make it come to life that it can be a blessing to other people.
00:05:01.439 -->
00:05:08.000I'm not even thinking about that because now I've started watching this series, and baby, I might as well finish it because I'm in the mode for that.
00:05:08.240 -->
00:05:12.959Now, one tip I can give you on binging series, I don't is I would just set aside a day.
00:05:13.199 -->
00:05:16.879Be productive throughout my week on Thursdays will be the day that I binge and chill.
00:05:17.040 -->
00:05:18.000It's all about balance.
00:05:18.079 -->
00:05:22.480So if you know that you like to do something, binging in this case is actually where it's a good thing.
00:05:22.639 -->
00:05:29.439Because now you've only spent one day, a little block of time, as opposed to a day here, a day here, a day here, a day here.
00:05:29.600 -->
00:05:35.439And even if it's one hour, it's one hour you're distracted from thinking about the things that you need to be thinking about, right?
00:05:35.519 -->
00:05:37.920It's like getting your mind in a certain mood.
00:05:38.160 -->
00:05:40.160And how do we overcome a distracted mind?
00:05:40.319 -->
00:05:41.439By setting the tone.
00:05:41.519 -->
00:05:42.240Just the opposite.
00:05:42.399 -->
00:05:46.319So we set the tone, we get up with intention, we're intentional about what we listen to.
00:05:46.560 -->
00:05:47.759Oh, that's a big thing.
00:05:48.000 -->
00:05:49.360I love all types of music.
00:05:49.439 -->
00:05:59.040I'm a 90s girl at heart, but if I'm listening to music that is super hype and getting me ready for a fun or a timeout, that is not gonna get me in a mode to work.
00:05:59.199 -->
00:06:04.240So I actually have a bunch of playlists on my phone, and one of the playlists is success mode, work mode.
00:06:04.480 -->
00:06:10.319If you're a YouTube girly, a great thing to do is to type in motivational work music, focused music.
00:06:10.480 -->
00:06:11.600I love to do that as well.
00:06:11.759 -->
00:06:14.639Sometimes I set that mood just in my house, I put it on the TV.
00:06:14.800 -->
00:06:17.439That can help to get your mind in a focused mindset.
00:06:17.600 -->
00:06:19.519So those are some of the tips that you can do, right?
00:06:19.600 -->
00:06:23.040You want to set the tone for what you're planning to accomplish.
00:06:23.199 -->
00:06:26.240And that is to keep your mind clear, to keep your mind focused.
00:06:26.480 -->
00:06:32.800So that is the first thing, a distracted mind, and we overcome that by setting the tone ourselves.
00:06:33.120 -->
00:06:39.600The second thing that is blocking our blessings is we are skipping motivated moments.
00:06:39.839 -->
00:06:42.000That's right, we're taking it for granted.
00:06:42.160 -->
00:06:44.160And what do I mean by motivated moments?
00:06:44.480 -->
00:06:50.560How many of you know that when you are inspired, you're feeling inspired and you're feeling energetic?
00:06:50.720 -->
00:06:53.680Now you want to work, like you feel like you can take on the world.
00:06:53.839 -->
00:06:56.160Those are the moments that you want to capitalize on.
00:06:56.319 -->
00:06:58.399Those are the times that you want to sit down and write.
00:06:58.480 -->
00:07:00.160You want to sit down and work on your business plan.
00:07:00.240 -->
00:07:03.600You want to sit down and make the calls to business coaches.
00:07:03.759 -->
00:07:07.199Those are the times that you are sparked to inspire.
00:07:07.439 -->
00:07:11.680You're sparked for inspiration, you're sparked for creativity, you are inspired to work.
00:07:11.759 -->
00:07:13.600And that's when you have the most progress.
00:07:13.759 -->
00:07:17.519So we won't want to skip those moments, and it can happen really quickly.
00:07:17.680 -->
00:07:20.480I have been in a position where I'm like, oh my God, I feel so good today.
00:07:20.720 -->
00:07:22.879I got up, I got sufficient rest last night.
00:07:23.040 -->
00:07:26.959I've had my tea, my coffee, um, I did a little bit of exercise.
00:07:27.120 -->
00:07:28.560I feel so inspired.
00:07:28.800 -->
00:07:30.000But guess what will creep in?
00:07:30.160 -->
00:07:31.600The enemy is very crafty.
00:07:31.759 -->
00:07:36.319He does not want you to capitalize on those days because he wants to keep you in a state of being blocked.
00:07:36.480 -->
00:07:38.480Okay, a state of not moving forward.
00:07:38.639 -->
00:07:42.319And so, what you have to do, what I have learned to do is to do it.
00:07:42.480 -->
00:07:43.120Just do it.
00:07:43.199 -->
00:07:50.480Because before I would say, I'm gonna work on it tomorrow, or I'll work on it on Friday, you know, when the kids are at school, or I'll do all these things.
00:07:50.560 -->
00:07:51.519But guess what?
00:07:51.759 -->
00:07:54.319You have no control over what happens the next day.
00:07:54.560 -->
00:07:57.279You have no control over what your mood will be the next day.
00:07:57.360 -->
00:07:58.959You could wake up to bad news, right?
00:07:59.040 -->
00:07:59.680You know what I mean?
00:07:59.759 -->
00:08:01.199You could have a busier day at work.
00:08:01.360 -->
00:08:02.399The kids could be sick.
00:08:02.560 -->
00:08:03.759Anything could happen.
00:08:03.920 -->
00:08:07.680So, one of the best things that you can do, jump on it when you have it.
00:08:07.759 -->
00:08:11.600And so if you're feeling it, you're feeling inspired, do the thing.
00:08:11.759 -->
00:08:18.399Even if you have limited time, say, I'm gonna set this timer and I'm gonna work for an hour, and then I'm gonna get to the other things that I have to do.
00:08:18.720 -->
00:08:21.839But that is when you'll get your most creative things.
00:08:22.000 -->
00:08:36.240Even if you're out, if you're at work, if you're driving and you have just a moment to take some notes down, write down bullet points of the things that you've been inspired by, what new points you have, what new ideas you have, what new angles on your business that you have, right?
00:08:36.320 -->
00:08:38.399And what new contacts that you thought about.
00:08:38.559 -->
00:08:41.600Write those things down in the moment and then you can get back to them.
00:08:41.759 -->
00:08:45.039But again, sis, do not skip the motivated moments.
00:08:45.120 -->
00:08:50.879This is a huge, huge one that has really allowed me to step forward in this rebuilding season.
00:08:51.200 -->
00:08:57.120Okay, and the last one is the consuming confusion trap.
00:08:57.360 -->
00:08:59.120And yes, we're back to social media.
00:08:59.440 -->
00:09:01.200There can be inspiration, right?
00:09:01.360 -->
00:09:03.519But there can be a point where it's too much.
00:09:03.600 -->
00:09:06.399And what happens is comparison can creep in, right?
00:09:06.480 -->
00:09:08.080And that is this, we're all human.
00:09:08.240 -->
00:09:08.799It can happen.
00:09:08.960 -->
00:09:10.320Comparison can creep in.
00:09:10.480 -->
00:09:14.159Hopefully, envy does not, but that can be attached to that as well.
00:09:14.320 -->
00:09:16.000Again, you're losing time.
00:09:16.320 -->
00:09:17.759We do not get time back.
00:09:17.919 -->
00:09:21.360Listen, the older I get, I value time so much more.
00:09:21.679 -->
00:09:23.360Trust me, time is so valuable.
00:09:23.440 -->
00:09:25.600It is the only thing you cannot get back.
00:09:25.679 -->
00:09:27.600You can't turn the clock back on it, right?
00:09:27.679 -->
00:09:28.960So use it so wisely.
00:09:29.120 -->
00:09:32.000One thing that happens is doubt takes over.
00:09:32.159 -->
00:09:35.600So now you might experience a little bit of imposter syndrome.
00:09:35.679 -->
00:09:37.679You're watching other people, they're having success.
00:09:37.840 -->
00:09:39.200And now you can begin to doubt.
00:09:39.360 -->
00:09:41.519Oh my God, did too much time go by?
00:09:41.840 -->
00:09:43.440Has the moment passed?
00:09:43.679 -->
00:09:45.200Am I capable of doing this?
00:09:45.360 -->
00:09:47.200What makes me think I can do this?
00:09:47.440 -->
00:09:51.600All the things that will cause you to stop in your tracks, right?
00:09:51.679 -->
00:09:53.200And so we don't want that.
00:09:53.360 -->
00:09:56.960We have to stop consuming so much and get to creating.
00:09:57.200 -->
00:10:01.039You don't want your ideas to be based on what other people think.
00:10:01.679 -->
00:10:02.639God speaks to you.
00:10:02.720 -->
00:10:03.600What is he saying to you?
00:10:03.679 -->
00:10:04.960What do you have to offer?
00:10:05.120 -->
00:10:06.720What is he giving you?
00:10:08.879 -->
00:10:11.279Have you been feeling stuck, discouraged?
00:10:11.519 -->
00:10:18.080Queenwood Standards coaching is an invitation to help you rediscover joy, clarity, purpose.
00:10:18.240 -->
00:10:22.960Visit johntabreshawn.com/slash queen with standards for details.
00:10:25.200 -->
00:10:28.480And so the last thing that can happen from this is discouragement.
00:10:28.559 -->
00:10:30.799And it becomes a very dangerous cycle.
00:10:30.960 -->
00:10:34.399And so now once you're discouraged, then you're not making any progress.
00:10:34.559 -->
00:10:40.799And now you are then probably consuming more and sitting and wasting more time and having more doubt, right?
00:10:40.960 -->
00:10:42.879And so we want to avoid that.
00:10:42.960 -->
00:10:44.480And how do we avoid it?
00:10:44.720 -->
00:10:48.559Limit your time and modify what you're watching, right?
00:10:48.639 -->
00:10:50.320I've gotten to the point to all my feeds.
00:10:50.559 -->
00:10:54.879If I see something I don't want to see, I don't have time to be really focused on it.
00:10:55.039 -->
00:10:59.679One of the things that had me in a chokehold was the forensic file videos that come up on Facebook.
00:10:59.919 -->
00:11:03.279And I'll watch them and they'll draw you in in the first five seconds.
00:11:03.519 -->
00:11:07.679And not only that, it's not putting me in a good headspace to get done, to move.
00:11:07.759 -->
00:11:10.879And this is the season where we are moving and making progress.
00:11:11.120 -->
00:11:24.480And so these that I've shared right now today, I gave you the T on what's blocking our progress and also how to overcome those things so we can continue to move forward in this season of rebuilding.
00:11:24.720 -->
00:11:27.360So thank you for sticking with me through this episode.
00:11:27.519 -->
00:11:38.960Apply some of these things as I'm applying these things in this season because again, we are taking this journey to rebuilding in a new season together, right here on the Clean of Sanders podcast.
00:11:39.039 -->
00:11:40.480I'll see you next time.
