WEBVTT
00:00:00.080 -->
00:00:06.000In this episode, Culinary Arts, PBIS, and the factual information you need to know for this election season.
00:00:11.199 -->
00:00:12.880From the Heart of Paradise, I'm Matt.
00:00:13.119 -->
00:00:13.839And I'm Sarah.
00:00:13.919 -->
00:00:20.160And of course, joining us in studio as always is Kara, Therese, and Nicole helping us produce this amazing show.
00:00:21.039 -->
00:00:23.920It's been a minute since we have recorded an episode.
00:00:24.559 -->
00:00:25.600Summer is over.
00:00:25.839 -->
00:00:31.120School is well underway for the new school year, which means this is podcast episode season time.
00:00:31.359 -->
00:00:35.920Okay, so you're really gonna like this first segment because you like to cook.
00:00:36.640 -->
00:00:38.399You're pretty pretty gourmet, I would say.
00:00:38.479 -->
00:00:40.799I think you it's it's a passion of yours, correct?
00:00:41.039 -->
00:00:44.159Uh it is a it is a hobby with a curse.
00:00:44.240 -->
00:00:47.679I I love it, um, but I I can never do enough of it.
00:00:47.920 -->
00:00:49.759Well, I do want to see you've got some competition.
00:00:49.920 -->
00:01:04.799Up first on the podcast is Pinnacle alumni Natalie Cordova, who recently finished first place at the Family, Career, and Community Leaders of America National Leadership Conference in July, where basically she got to show off her culinary skills.
00:01:05.120 -->
00:01:07.040Welcome to the podcast, Natalie.
00:01:07.760 -->
00:01:09.040Hi, thank you.
00:01:09.439 -->
00:01:12.799Um, so that's a pretty big deal to win first place.
00:01:12.959 -->
00:01:20.159There were, uh, if I have this correctly, there were 80 students from 48 states, and and you took home the first place prize.
00:01:20.560 -->
00:01:23.920Yeah, there was a lot of students, but it was a lot of fun though.
00:01:24.400 -->
00:01:28.079Uh tell us a little bit about what the competition entailed.
00:01:28.239 -->
00:01:38.159Um I know that um maybe some of the people listening, uh, and myself included, I don't even know what this kind of a competition would look like, but I'm so interested to find out.
00:01:38.560 -->
00:01:43.359Well, for the competition I did, I had to prepare two dishes.
00:01:44.000 -->
00:01:52.400And I only had a time span of an hour to complete a salad, a main dish.
00:01:53.200 -->
00:01:55.040But it was a lot of fun.
00:01:55.439 -->
00:01:58.079It was a lot of practice leading up to it though.
00:01:59.760 -->
00:02:02.319And it was just very nerve-wracking.
00:02:02.719 -->
00:02:12.319Was part of the practice leading up to it watching shows like Chopped, because this kind of feels like like that kind of a show where you have this limited amount of time to create something amazing.
00:02:12.719 -->
00:02:16.000I wouldn't say it's exactly like those shows.
00:02:16.560 -->
00:02:20.080As those shows are very dramatized, like dramatized.
00:02:20.319 -->
00:02:21.520Yeah, that's the word.
00:02:22.000 -->
00:02:36.000But when you're in the actual competition, it's a little calmer and you're given the time to focus without having people walking up to you and trying to have conversations.
00:02:36.639 -->
00:02:40.000Can you tell us what um how did you take home first place?
00:02:40.080 -->
00:02:41.759Tell us about the salad, the main dish.
00:02:41.919 -->
00:02:44.879Not only do I want to hear it, but you're also making me very hungry talking about this.
00:02:44.960 -->
00:02:47.439But we want to hear how did you win this competition?
00:02:48.000 -->
00:02:56.800I was if I'm gonna be very honest, I was surprised I won as I had an allergic reaction to our dish.
00:02:58.319 -->
00:03:16.800So I had to prepare a Caesar salad from scratch, and I had to make garlic mashed potatoes, a ribeye steak with a mushroom sauce, and caramelized carrots, but I'm allergic to mushrooms.
00:03:17.439 -->
00:03:18.719You know what's so crazy?
00:03:18.960 -->
00:03:24.080I am also allergic to mushrooms, and what I was when you were explaining this dish, I was like, this sounds delicious.
00:03:24.400 -->
00:03:24.639It does.
00:03:24.800 -->
00:03:25.599Except for that sauce.
00:03:26.240 -->
00:03:38.000Yeah, it was really good, but I just didn't try it that much as I didn't want to risk an allergic reaction, but it ended up happening in the end.
00:03:38.400 -->
00:03:47.120So talk to us how you prepare, not just to go to Washington, DC, which is very impressive, but how do you prepare, get in the mental state, um, get your dish prepared.
00:03:47.199 -->
00:03:50.479But what did you have to do to get ready to go to DC to compete?
00:03:50.960 -->
00:03:58.319So what I did to get ready was I just spent a long time with my with my family and my boyfriend.
00:03:58.639 -->
00:04:04.240And they would just encourage me a lot and say that I've worked to be where I'm at now.
00:04:05.360 -->
00:04:08.960And that no matter what happens, they will always be proud of me.
00:04:09.360 -->
00:04:12.000And that definitely helped me a lot.
00:04:12.319 -->
00:04:31.519Um I didn't think I was ready for both my family and Jeff Thomas thought I was so just having that encouragement and knowing people believed in me made it so much easier for me.
00:04:31.839 -->
00:04:42.560And there's a lot to be proud of because it's not just the first place uh win, but you also earned in the 25-26 school year the FCCLA chapter president at Pinnacle High School.
00:04:42.720 -->
00:04:44.160Talk a little bit about that experience.
00:04:44.319 -->
00:04:46.560What was it like leading that chapter for your school?
00:04:46.879 -->
00:04:50.000It was a lot of work, but it was very fun.
00:04:50.399 -->
00:04:53.920I met a lot of my friends that I still have now.
00:04:54.959 -->
00:05:04.879And it was an amazing learning experience as it taught me how to be a good leader, how to be confident, organizational skills.
00:05:06.079 -->
00:05:20.639But it also taught me that I don't always have to be work working alone and that it's always okay to have other people there that support me and that I work with.
00:05:21.360 -->
00:05:22.240I love that.
00:05:22.480 -->
00:05:28.720You know, can you talk to us a little bit as far as you you mentioned uh I think you should said Chef Thomas.
00:05:28.879 -->
00:05:38.720Um can you talk a little bit about uh the chef who has inspired you, who I know works at Pinnacle High School, and really what are some other things that have sparked this passion for culinary?
00:05:45.519 -->
00:05:56.000Apart from my grandpa, Chef Thomas has been my biggest supporter, and he's always pushed me to better myself, I guess.
00:05:56.480 -->
00:06:08.079And I just think he's the best mentor I've had, and he always believed in me and he's always pushed me to strive for more.
00:06:10.240 -->
00:06:14.240I hold Jeff Thomas very close to my heart.
00:06:14.800 -->
00:06:26.639We have other students who are uh obviously uh trying to kind of take the trajectory that that you've kind of forged here, um, going to competitions, maybe leading an organization on campus.
00:06:26.800 -->
00:06:33.839What kind of advice would you have uh to younger students um who maybe are at Pinnacle or one of the other high schools in in PV now?
00:06:34.319 -->
00:06:44.959A piece of advice I'd give is definitely have confidence and it's not wrong to ask for help when you need it.
00:06:46.399 -->
00:06:51.920Everybody is there to help and support you, and at times you'll really need it.
00:06:52.879 -->
00:07:04.000But just always have confidence in yourself and never bring yourself down, even if you don't feel like it's you're doing enough because you are doing enough.
00:07:04.560 -->
00:07:10.959So as we start wrapping up, um we want to ask you a few more questions, but obviously, what are your plans now that you've graduated, Pinnacle?
00:07:11.040 -->
00:07:13.920Talk to us about your next steps and are you gonna stay in culinary?
00:07:14.319 -->
00:07:30.560So my next next steps are I'll be going to college to study food science and environmental sustainability, and I'm going to become a full-time culture chef for M Culinary Concepts, which is the biggest catering company in the Southwest.
00:07:31.279 -->
00:07:35.600And I'm just very excited as catering is something I love to do.
00:07:35.839 -->
00:07:44.959And I just look forward to also continuing my studies as me and Chef Daniel, the culture chef from culinary.
00:07:45.680 -->
00:07:52.160We both believe it'll benefit me in the long term, both in my career and outside of culinary.
00:07:52.720 -->
00:07:54.800In the kitchen though, I I do have to know.
00:07:54.959 -->
00:07:58.480What is what's your favorite meal to prepare for yourself?
00:07:58.639 -->
00:08:04.639And then what is the meal that uh friends and family ask to have prepared the most?
00:08:05.600 -->
00:08:14.800My favorite meal to prepare for myself, it's spicy noodles with hard-boiled eggs and cheese.
00:08:15.199 -->
00:08:15.920Delicious.
00:08:16.800 -->
00:08:26.639But for my family and my friends, a meal they definitely ask for a lot is tamales, because I've perfected how to make really good tamales.
00:08:28.639 -->
00:08:35.039And apart from that, it would I would definitely say chicken Alfredo.
00:08:35.759 -->
00:08:38.320My mom asks for it basically every night.
00:08:39.759 -->
00:08:45.120Well, we will have to cut this interview uh now because I am so incredibly hungry.
00:08:45.200 -->
00:08:46.720Uh talking about chicken Alfredo.
00:08:46.799 -->
00:08:47.679Um, delicious.
00:08:48.000 -->
00:08:52.240I mean, um, what a fun way to experience high school.
00:08:52.399 -->
00:08:54.799I'm I'm glad that you uh had that opportunity.
00:08:54.960 -->
00:09:01.120Um and obviously from uh PV schools, thanks for representing the district and Pinnacle High School so well.
00:09:01.279 -->
00:09:04.159Again, taking home first place is quite a big deal.
00:09:04.480 -->
00:09:05.120Very impressive.
00:09:05.279 -->
00:09:06.799Congratulations again, Natalie.
00:09:07.120 -->
00:09:07.919Thank you.
00:09:08.559 -->
00:09:11.039Okay, Matt, up next we have ads.
00:09:11.440 -->
00:09:20.399If you have a seventh through twelfth grade student in PV, you know that the district's provided Chromebook is an essential learning tool for both at school and at home.
00:09:20.559 -->
00:09:22.399But let's be honest, accidents happen.
00:09:22.559 -->
00:09:30.559That's why PV Schools offers an optional device protection program for just$30 a year to cover unforeseen damage, theft, or loss.
00:09:30.799 -->
00:09:35.519Remember, this is an annual plan, so returning families need to complete a new form each year.
00:09:35.759 -->
00:09:38.320The enrollment deadline is Friday, October 2nd.
00:09:38.720 -->
00:09:43.120One quick tip: simply checking yes on the form doesn't activate coverage.
00:09:43.279 -->
00:09:48.720Be sure to finalize your$30 payment online by searching device protection under your students' account.
00:09:48.879 -->
00:09:49.519Don't wait.
00:09:49.759 -->
00:09:52.000Protect your students' device today.
00:09:52.320 -->
00:09:56.720Attention, eighth graders and parents, are you ready to launch an incredible feature in STEM?
00:09:57.039 -->
00:10:06.000TV School invites you to the Crest Program Information Night on Tuesday, September 29th at Paradise Valley High School from 5 to 7.15 p.m.
00:10:06.399 -->
00:10:13.120Dive into Crest's Elite Four-year honors program in bioscience, computer science, and engineering.
00:10:13.200 -->
00:10:14.960We encourage you to arrive by 5 p.m.
00:10:15.200 -->
00:10:18.720to check out PV's awesome club, sports, and programs.
00:10:18.960 -->
00:10:21.279Your future starts here in Paradise.
00:10:21.440 -->
00:10:24.080For more information, please contact PV High School.
00:10:24.240 -->
00:10:36.320So, Matt, obviously earlier this week we had the opportunity to talk to Sally Hensel, who's from Professional Development, and she told us everything we need to know about the PBIS coalition and all the amazing awards that some of our schools just.
00:10:36.879 -->
00:10:37.519That was pretty impressive.
00:10:37.679 -->
00:10:38.559Let's take a listen.
00:10:38.960 -->
00:10:44.399You know, recently several of our schools won uh or were recognized with an award for PBIS.
00:10:44.480 -->
00:10:45.759How much do you know about PBIS?
00:10:46.240 -->
00:10:49.200You know, when I was teaching, we it was kind of new.
00:10:49.519 -->
00:10:55.120So not a lot of schools did it, not a lot of districts did it, but I know that we're doing positive behavioral interventions and supports.
00:10:55.200 -->
00:11:01.440And the one thing I learned as a teacher is people always say it's not that it's a program, but it's like a way of thinking.
00:11:01.519 -->
00:11:05.360And it's how we it's not a curriculum, but it's how we interact with students.
00:11:05.679 -->
00:11:09.519And it's certainly uh kind of one of those foundational things in PV schools.
00:11:09.600 -->
00:11:14.480You see them, uh the elements of PB uh PBIS uh in all of our schools, really.
00:11:14.639 -->
00:11:17.039Uh we're not the experts in PBIS, though.
00:11:17.120 -->
00:11:20.639So we'll be learning a lot uh along the way uh with everyone listening.
00:11:20.720 -->
00:11:25.919Uh welcome to the podcast, though, someone who can speak much more intelligently about PBIS, Sally Hensel.
00:11:26.000 -->
00:11:29.840Uh, she's a professional development specialist in our professional development uh department.
00:11:30.159 -->
00:11:31.600Hi, Sally, welcome.
00:11:32.159 -->
00:11:32.639Thank you.
00:11:32.720 -->
00:11:33.840I'm glad to be here.
00:11:34.240 -->
00:11:40.159So as we kind of talked about uh jumping into this segment, we want to know a little bit more about PBIS.
00:11:40.320 -->
00:11:43.360What is it, uh, and then how does it look here in PV?
00:11:44.639 -->
00:11:55.279Well, PBIS is uh definitely something that we have at a number of our schools, branching off into tier two and tier three.
00:11:55.360 -->
00:12:00.320It is an evidence-based uh program and system at its heart.
00:12:00.639 -->
00:12:05.519It's about building strong relationships uh and supporting all students.
00:12:05.600 -->
00:12:13.679Uh we never want to assume our students know what those expectations are in the same way that we teach two plus two equals four.
00:12:14.000 -->
00:12:19.519We want to make sure that uh those behavioral expectations are explicitly taught.
00:12:19.679 -->
00:12:22.159What does a positive behavior look like?
00:12:22.320 -->
00:12:24.799How can we reinforce those behaviors?
00:12:24.960 -->
00:12:29.679And how can we provide additional supports for students who may need that?
00:12:29.840 -->
00:12:37.360Uh PBIS is highly effective, it's evidence-based, and it's in over 27,000 schools in the United States.
00:12:37.600 -->
00:12:38.799Wow, that's impressive.
00:12:39.039 -->
00:12:40.639So clearly I said it wrong at the start.
00:12:40.720 -->
00:12:44.480I think I said not a program, but it is a program, but it's not a curriculum, correct?
00:12:44.559 -->
00:12:46.080It's more of a way of thinking.
00:12:46.320 -->
00:12:55.440And from my understanding, it's geared a lot more toward, again, positive reinforcement and um rewarding students for doing the right thing.
00:12:55.679 -->
00:12:56.399Would you agree?
00:12:56.639 -->
00:13:04.399Yes, it's definitely it's definitely a tiered framework, is probably the best way to consider it.
00:13:04.559 -->
00:13:06.000It's data driven.
00:13:06.159 -->
00:13:08.639So we're always looking at data.
00:13:08.799 -->
00:13:19.600We're looking at evidence-based practices organized within a system that we'll see uh results in positive outcomes.
00:13:19.840 -->
00:13:23.679Outcomes such as greater teacher retention, right?
00:13:23.919 -->
00:13:31.039We know that uh teachers can feel more burnout if there are more behavioral issues that need to be addressed.
00:13:31.279 -->
00:13:35.200We know that academics uh is a positive outcome.
00:13:35.360 -->
00:13:40.639Uh teachers can get down to the business of teaching and students can get down to the business of learning.
00:13:40.879 -->
00:13:54.320Uh, we see improvements not only in behavior, but overall school safety and definitely an improved culture for everyone at our PBIS schools within that data-driven framework.
00:13:54.720 -->
00:14:02.320So earlier I had mentioned that we recently found out that several of our campuses received some honors related to PBIS, uh, PBIS.
00:14:02.559 -->
00:14:06.63913 actually uh is the number of campuses that were honored.
00:14:06.799 -->
00:14:11.840What does that signify for the implementation of PBIS here in PV?
00:14:13.360 -->
00:14:17.360Well, I hate to kind of brag about the professional development department.
00:14:17.679 -->
00:14:18.639Please do, please do.
00:14:19.919 -->
00:14:43.679The professional development department has really taken on the reins of supporting the implementation of very specific professional development for tier one PDIS leadership teams, tier two leadership teams, and this year we've added tier three leadership teams to our repertoire of professional development.
00:14:43.840 -->
00:14:45.120A shout out to those teams.
00:14:45.200 -->
00:14:47.440They had their first training about a week ago.
00:14:47.519 -->
00:14:50.559Um they're definitely ready to move on to tier three.
00:14:50.799 -->
00:15:02.799So professional development has really committed to supporting the training for these leadership teams so they can go back to their sites and do this important work.
00:15:02.960 -->
00:15:05.759So we know that we have our model PBIS school for the state.
00:15:05.840 -->
00:15:08.000Shout out to Desert Shadows Elementary School.
00:15:08.080 -->
00:15:08.960It's huge.
00:15:09.120 -->
00:15:12.000Um, but we also want to say that this is not necessarily a new thing.
00:15:12.159 -->
00:15:14.399We have legacy schools in our district.
00:15:14.559 -->
00:15:17.039They continue to refresh and refine their systems.
00:15:17.200 -->
00:15:25.759As a matter of fact, the sites who are in tier one leadership training, um, they're not new to PBIS.
00:15:25.919 -->
00:15:30.240What they're interested in doing is refreshing and polishing and refining.
00:15:30.559 -->
00:15:39.519Um, so our schools are innovators in PBIS when we have all these leadership teams in the same room together.
00:15:39.679 -->
00:15:42.320They're innovators in terms of how they share what they're doing.
00:15:42.399 -->
00:15:44.080And other schools are like, that's a great idea.
00:15:44.159 -->
00:15:48.080I want to tackle that, or what's working for uh you all.
00:15:48.240 -->
00:15:54.720Um and it's I think it's important to note that applying for these awards is completely voluntary in PV schools.
00:15:54.799 -->
00:15:57.840There are certain school districts that may require the schools to do so.
00:15:58.080 -->
00:16:01.679We really leave this up to the sites and they embrace it.
00:16:01.919 -->
00:16:15.840So the fact that it's something that the schools volunteer to do and that we have such a huge representation in the state is a huge honor, really, for our sites.
00:16:16.159 -->
00:16:21.200So talk to maybe the parent who's listening, and I'm sure they hear their students talk about it.
00:16:21.360 -->
00:16:37.039We obviously know about it being being educators, but what are some tangible examples that someone might see within a school or a classroom that would be that would signify PBIS, such as kids getting recognized, rewarded, or just overall implementation?
00:16:38.320 -->
00:16:48.080Well, I think uh what parents may see is that they'll see uh if they go to a campus, they'll see all of the framework display displayed.
00:16:48.159 -->
00:16:50.159It's very transparent.
00:16:50.480 -->
00:16:53.279What is our shared expectation?
00:16:53.600 -->
00:16:58.159What are our shared expectations and our language that we use here on this campus?
00:16:58.320 -->
00:17:04.000If we're at Greenway, we know that we roar, we know that rattlers rise, for example.
00:17:04.240 -->
00:17:08.480Um, and so students should be very well versed.
00:17:08.720 -->
00:17:12.000We do uh tiered fidelity instrument walkthroughs.
00:17:12.160 -->
00:17:15.519We go to schools, we talk to staff members, we talk to students.
00:17:15.759 -->
00:17:38.079They should be able to speak the language, so to speak, that it's not about a gotcha that PBIS is really proactive and making sure that expectations are explicitly taught, and that because of that, it's important to acknowledge what students and staff really are doing in terms of supporting those behavioral expectations.
00:17:38.240 -->
00:17:48.559And so parents may see maybe a student brings home like some sort of reward from the acknowledgement system, and that's really great to support a home.
00:17:48.640 -->
00:17:49.759Like, way, way to go.
00:17:49.920 -->
00:17:53.200I really love how you are showing being respectful at school.
00:17:53.359 -->
00:17:58.640What does that look like in terms of in the classroom versus the media center versus the cafeteria?
00:17:59.119 -->
00:18:15.119Um, and so that whole system that's in place within that framework should be evident not only in just the signage, for example, um, but just being able to talk to staff members, talk to their students.
00:18:15.279 -->
00:18:22.640Um, it should be very clear what the expectations are and how they are celebrated on campus.
00:18:22.799 -->
00:18:31.759And then what that does is when that's really done well, it really helps identify who are our students who might just need a little bit more support.
00:18:31.839 -->
00:18:38.240Um, and we can find that um support so students, all students uh can feel successful at school.
00:18:38.559 -->
00:18:43.599You touched on it a little bit, but are there things that parents and families can be doing to support this work at home?
00:18:43.759 -->
00:18:48.720I know you talked about staff and students supporting the work, but uh we we know that it it takes a village, right?
00:18:48.799 -->
00:18:52.000Uh to get a student through their educational journey.
00:18:52.319 -->
00:18:54.079What can be done at home?
00:18:55.440 -->
00:19:14.799I think it is uh being aware of what those expectations are and supporting those at home and celebrating your child too, as far as um knowing that um that at this school we are we are safe, we're respectful, we are responsible.
00:19:14.880 -->
00:19:17.519And then what does that actually look like at home too?
00:19:17.680 -->
00:19:29.519You know, um that maybe those are the expectations at school, but here at home, we make sure that our room is clean or that we're contributing to the chores or that we're being kind to each other.
00:19:29.680 -->
00:19:54.960Um, and then also if you happen to find that your students may need maybe um a check-in and checkout, maybe they need an additional like a tier two support just to know that there are a lot of people on board and and cheering the student on for the greatest amount of success, um, that um that parents and guardians that they're participating in that so that the student um feels that support.
00:19:55.200 -->
00:20:03.359Um, again, so we can really get down to the business of learning and achieving and just really being aware.
00:20:03.440 -->
00:20:11.599We we don't want this to be um, you know, confusing or unclear for our students and our families and our for our staff.
00:20:11.759 -->
00:20:16.000There should there should be a lot of transparency there, a lot of communication from schools.
00:20:16.160 -->
00:20:23.920So I encourage parents to PBIS is often embedded within staff handbooks or I'm sorry, parent students' handbooks.
00:20:24.000 -->
00:20:30.480And so the more they familiarize that um with themselves and what's going on at their school, they can support that at home as well.
00:20:30.640 -->
00:20:35.039So students are getting similar messaging as far as what the expectations are.
00:20:35.279 -->
00:20:36.000I really love that.
00:20:36.240 -->
00:20:49.599Yeah, I mean, you kind of mentioned it, and and I think this is important to highlight this uh this has an impact on student success academically because this is kind of creating that environment that's a successful learning environment.
00:20:51.039 -->
00:21:00.559It's it's a massive piece of it as far as when students come into a classroom, for example, and they know what the expectations are.
00:21:00.960 -->
00:21:11.839Um, I've seen it, I've I have a um Center for Teacher Development camera in a second grade classroom at Desert Shadows Elementary, our uh model PBIS site.
00:21:12.079 -->
00:21:20.880Students come in, they have clear expectations, they know what they need to do, there is positive uh acknowledgement um happening.
00:21:21.119 -->
00:21:34.640And what's occurring is that students then have a great feeling of like, I belong here, I know what is expected of me, and now I can focus on the learning.
00:21:34.880 -->
00:21:41.519Um managing behavioral problems and issues can be very overwhelming.
00:21:41.680 -->
00:21:59.759Um, and so when everyone's on the same page and we're speaking the same language, we have this consistent uh environment and those shared expectations, um, and students are aware of when they are meeting them, um, that then teachers can actually do the work that they're meant to do.
00:22:00.319 -->
00:22:03.119Which is to be teaching on the academic side.
00:22:03.759 -->
00:22:04.480Yeah, I love this.
00:22:04.559 -->
00:22:11.039And I think it's just so you said it at the very beginning that you know, we assume kids know a lot of this stuff.
00:22:11.119 -->
00:22:12.160And they they don't always.
00:22:12.240 -->
00:22:15.440We have to teach it just like we teach what two plus two equals.
00:22:15.680 -->
00:22:18.480It's important for us really to implement this.
00:22:18.880 -->
00:22:21.279And I think it provides confidence to kids.
00:22:21.359 -->
00:22:22.960I think it provides security.
00:22:23.200 -->
00:22:28.960And overall, I think they just function better in the classroom and in life when they have guidance and clear expectations.
00:22:29.119 -->
00:22:30.079I think that's wonderful.
00:22:30.319 -->
00:22:37.839Okay, so before we go, um, Matt, I want you to give a big shout out to all of the schools who are recently recognized.
00:22:38.000 -->
00:22:39.279I'm I'm putting Matt on the spot.
00:22:39.359 -->
00:22:42.559I'm gonna see how well you can do this because it's 13 different schools.

00:22:45.039Yeah, this is actually a good problem to have.
00:22:45.200 -->
00:22:49.039I can't memorize them all because we have we have too many that have done so well for the school.
00:22:49.279 -->
00:22:49.599You can read it.
00:22:49.839 -->
00:22:52.160I am gonna read them because I don't want to leave anybody out.
00:22:52.319 -->

00:23:14.720 -->
00:23:15.119Very good.
00:23:15.200 -->
00:23:16.880I was hoping you would memorize it, but it's hard.
00:23:16.960 -->
00:23:17.200I know.
00:23:18.000 -->
00:23:18.720I like to put you on the spot.
00:23:19.039 -->
00:23:23.039We always like it when we have too many honors to be able to memorize.
00:23:23.119 -->
00:23:24.640Uh it's a really good problem to have.
00:23:24.960 -->
00:23:27.200Well, Sally, thank you so much for joining us today.

00:23:36.240 -->
00:23:37.359Thanks for having me.
00:23:37.680 -->
00:23:38.559Thanks again, Sally.
00:23:38.799 -->
00:23:45.039Uh kind of cool to get the behind-the-scenes learn a little bit more about such a foundational um uh program in the district.
