Welcome, and I'm welcoming you to the Organic Truth Podcast, where wellness becomes legacy. Let's go. Have you ever looked in the mirror, not at your face, but at your life and wondered how much of this is actually me? And how much is what I've been running from? Because reflection isn't comfortable. Reflection isn't filtered. Reflection does not care about excuses. But reflection is where transformation begins. Today's episode is called Reflection. Dealing with you, dealing with you. And we're diving deep into why self-awareness is the most powerful and most avoided skill in modern life. and how understanding human behavior, especially your own, can completely change your relationship, your career, your finances, and peace. Who don't want peace? I want peace. If you ever felt stuck, misunderstood, or like life just keeps repeating the same lesson, this episode is for you. It's for you. Welcome, and I welcome you to the Organic Drew Podcast. Let's go, where awareness becomes legacy. The hardest person to face is yourself. This is why people avoid self-reflection. because it's an emotional defensive mechanism. If I could ward off or not think about or not deal with myself or my issues or the things I have compiled within myself, my luggage, then I don't have to worry. I could just focus on everybody else. See, this is why it's easy for people who like drama to be able to converse in drama, but they don't never unpack the drama within themselves because misery likes company. The cause of self-dece- It's the cause of self-deception. This segment introduced the resistance people have towards self-examination and explains why avoiding truth keeps people stuck in repeated life patterns. Okay. Most people think that their biggest problem, problems, I'm sorry, not problem, problems, are external. The boss at work, their partner, their wife, their girlfriend, their baby mama, their baby daddy, money, it's always about finances. Circumstances, things that just happen randomly that we can't control, that we constantly stress ourselves about. But the real obstacle is often. Unexamined behavior. Reflection forces accountability and accountability threatens the ego. Nah, we gotta put that up louder. Let me get it louder, Reflection forces accountability and accountability threatens the ego. Yeah, that's Jew? It's your ego? Stop playing with me. Stop! An ego's job is to survive, not growth. So you have an internal mechanism inside you, which is the ego, that constantly is always ready to box because it needs to defend itself, it needs to survive because it knows that if it loses, Now you had to deal with you. You're safe. Stop it. Deal with who you are. Understand that. We all have life experiences and it's crazy because I understand like the more and more I go through life and I expand within myself, I start to reflect on things. And it's crazy because I once knew someone who blamed every fault. who blamed every failed relationship on choosing the wrong person. How is that possible? You can't blame everything, every failed relationship on choosing the wrong person. Maybe it's you. The years, the pattern repeated itself, Different faces, same outcome. What does that mean? It wasn't bad luck. It was unexamined behavior with being yourself. Self-reflection. activity. higher, cognitive processing in the frontal cortex. Now that might be too much. Now that's too much for me. but it activates higher continent processing in the cortex. That's right here, folks. This is Frontool. This is temporal, editorial. And I think optical is back there too. Optical is back there. This is why when they say boxes hit them behind the head, they don't allow them to do that because if you hit in the optical cortex, it'll mess up your sight. I mean, be blurry, you can't see stuff. So that's why that's not fair. But allowing individuals to... evaluate behavior objectively. Without reflection, people operate on subconsciousness, patterns shaped by past experience and conditioning. This is what y'all do. I've done it, I'm guilty. I have. I'm very guilty at it. But this is why when you dive deep within yourself, you start to understand. And you really have to, you really have to pull that mask down to where you say to yourself, hold on, I had to really look at me. What am I doing wrong? What can I do better? I'm telling you guys, a lot of the times, especially my gene, I'm an 80s baby, you have to look within you. Yeah, you might have a great relationship with your significant other, you know, maybe your brother and sister, but something's falling off. And you know what that is. So don't try to play games like as if everything peaches and cream, cause it ain't. We live in this game called life and we lose a lot. So stop playing games. and get right. Because if you don't, you're just gonna end up being just, you're gonna look up, you're gonna see, what's that term they say? Light past you by. And it will. That motherfucker in the Mercedes, that motherfucker in the throwback hot rod, like, bro, right past you eight times. You know how I you in the race? then like you're the fastest but you looping the same person, that's life. And they look at you every time and they go, boop boop, and speed off. And then come back around and see you running in the same spot you ain't hit the finish line, boop boop, until all of a sudden, you don't have no more gas left in your tank. But life's tank keep running. Let's go. Life's Tank keep running. There's this book, that I encourage everybody, if you listening to this podcast, you better go get it, you better listen to it, it's on YouTube, you can audio book it, you can buy the hard copy. I will say this, if you're trying to get into reading more, right, and you wanna be able to find some books that can help you in a way to where it helps you. ⁓ of discipline and things of that nature. This a book that you wanna go get. Not only can you listen to the audio book, but if you don't just be an audio book person, add the actual hard copy too. Build you a little small library. You know what I'm saying? So when people come over, they'd be like, ⁓ yeah, this person listen to books or read books or whatnot. Like build yourself a little library. Y'all don't remember when Like I still go over my grandfather's house, my grandparents house, and I see the little bookshelf. They have all the encyclopedias on it. Still there. Nobody in that house know how valuable how much gold them encyclopedias are and how much they worth build you a library. So if you're gonna listen to audio books, I like listening to audio books. I'm the first one to put headphones in and play the audio book. But then I'm also gonna go buy the paperback or the hardback copy. Because I need a physical copy. So go get this book, it's called The Law of Human Nature, right? And this part of the segment is gonna, I'm gonna talk more about this because this episode connects deeply with insight from the law of human nature. And I have to plug it by Robert Green. I mean, which I explore why human behavior and he explores why human behavior and the way that they do. often without awareness. This is why I say sometimes we do things with the subconscious and don't even consciously know that we're doing this, just consciously doing it because we program, we develop the program. But these things trigger emotional triggers and unconscious motives. And it also is a projection and blaming. It becomes projecting and blaming others, which creates patterns formed in childhood. which I'm sorry, not create, but goes back to patterns that were created or formed in our childhood. Think about that. It's crazy. Cause I was on the expressway that day and I start thinking about, it was crazy memories coming back, rushing back at me. You know, when I was a kid, I was like, I want to say, no, I got a nine year old And I want to say I went a little bit back further than that. I think I want to say seven, six or seven, but it started there and it can start trickling up. it's like, man, y'all just don't know a lot of the patterns that we create in the projections and the subconscious and the blaming and the things. It had to do with how we was raised and especially not how we was raised. I'm sorry, but in our childhood, those traumas. And when I say trauma, it don't have to be something catastrophic. It can be something small. You see what saying? Because the way we grew up, we couldn't talk back. It was yes sir, no sir. We got spankers, we got weapons. You know, it was a... It was zero tolerance, you know, as opposed to this generation now, everybody looking for the switch. And I ain't talking about the thing from the tree. I'm talking about But, you know... This segment is gonna explain how much of our behavior is driven by subconscious programming and emotional reactions rather than logic. How was we gonna be logical back then? You know what I'm saying? Like that's the crazy thing. I don't understand that. You know what I mean? This is why I say one of the most powerful truths about human nature is this. People rarely see themselves clearly. We see intentions, not impact. We judge ourselves by what we've meant to do, but others judge us by what we actually do. need you how to walk with me right now. We judge ourselves by what we meant to do, but others judge us by what we actually do. And that's the honest to God truth. That gap is where conflict lives. Think about the last argument you had. Were you defended truth or defended your ego? Human behavior is heavily influenced. memory. Experiences stored subconsciously that shape reactions, emotional responses, and perception without conscious awareness. See, these are things that I'm only thinking about because I've read this book. This would be my third time reading this book because I couldn't understand how. accurate some of the things was. And I think one of the biggest parts that I took from it is how I hear this word narcissist floating around the internet. But in the book it says we all have a level of narcissism to us. It's just about how far we take it. This is why I say listen, don't quote me on this. Go read the book for yourself. Listen to it, whatever you want to do. But I strongly encourage that if you're going to listen to the audio book, go buy the book too. I'm not getting no commission from that, but I'm just, I'm really, all I'm doing is I'm trying to push the fact that, you know, we have to be more proactive in the things that we want to better within ourselves. So it's like, if you want to read more, Go get the book. If you see that physical book, it's gonna remind you like, man, you need to read this. You need to actually read this. Today, you need to read this. You know what I'm saying? So go get the book. But I'm telling you, perception without conscious awareness is where we had it. You know? because self-awareness is a super power. It's a superpower. It helps be able to sharpen our emotional intelligence. That's one. It also recognizes patterns in your life. know, there's patterns where, you know, it becomes a healthy habit or it becomes a bad habit. You know, and that's where self-awareness becomes the superpower. You know, it's also taking ownership of outcome. You could create your outcome. If something were to happen, there's two choices. Either you do something about it or you do nothing. Control your outcome, taking ownership of your outcome. And it's not easy. It ain't easy. To all my people, who's listening. Don't forget to like, share, subscribe, go to the podcast or Get a True Podcast and subscribe, but it ain't easy. Sometimes we get stuck. We don't even know where to go or we have the tools. We just don't know how to use them. So don't be down on yourself. Take it one step at a time. Find something that you can win, small wins, and then build up. Because that's what's gonna get you to the finish line. You know, that's what gets you to the finish line. Because now we're gonna talk about developing awareness. Developing awareness creates control over reactions, decisions and relationships. See, because the moment you realize your patterns, You gain power over them. Self-awareness turns reflection into choices. And choice creates freedom. No? Who gonna tell me no? It creates freedom. Most people want control over their lives. You wanna control everything. Trust me, I know that. I got a significant other. Man, if she can't control it, the vehicle can't move. But without control over themselves, most people wanna control life. without control over themselves. That's impossible. Why is it impossible living? Why would this be impossible? Listen. I used to be on this, especially during COVID, I used to be on this app, I think it was called Radio, I it was called Radio app. And it's a platform where you can have your own corner of, then this is the reason why I got into podcasting, is you can have your own corner of show, segment, and you can swipe, swipe, swipe. It would really depend on people actually seeing your title. And then when you, when they came into your corner of your room, they were engaged with what you were saying. They would leave messages. You can also even create a title for when you're going to go live. And this is why I started what I've started. And I remember a listener once told me they kept sabotaging job opportunities. And it's crazy because I'm friends with some of these people to this day. I mean, I'm friends with a guy all the way in Idaho. I don't, and I've only seen him and met him via Zoom. I'm telling you, because we were doing the podcast together. Shout out to Pioneer in the past. You know, ⁓ but a listener once told me they kept sabotaging job opportunities. Always, they were always late, always procrastinating. And after reflecting, they realized it wasn't laziness. It was fear of success. They ain't here before. There might be a lot of people who can't. But I understood this. See? emotional intelligence. Research shows individuals with higher self-awareness demonstrate better decision-making, leadership ability, and relationship stability due to... improved emotional regulations. Y'all need to understand how important this is. How dealing with this, that muscle in the heart, that heart is important, man, to your only success. Your failures isn't because you're inadequate, because you ain't capable, because you don't have the ability. It's because that emotional intelligence, that regulation, that self-awareness. that reflection. It ain't a lie. And you not being honest. Because there's a thing between accountability and a victim mindset. Accountability and a victim mindset. Let's stop playing games here. Personal responsibility is key because you gotta take ownership for you. And come on man, we all grown and I'm ⁓ hoping who listening to this, they grown so I'm not sitting up here pointing the finger at telling you you need to be more grown. And we all know that comes with personal. Personal responsibility is accountability, is taking ownership for the things that you do and don't do and it's nobody else's fault. you know, internal and external control. That means you have to be internally in control of your emotions, which also externally control your actions. So that's the cause and effect method, right? So the cause. This and the effect would be this. and breaking cycles. I am, man, I'm a Taurus. I'm notorious for a creature of habit. Especially when it's a bad habit. I can, you know what I'm saying? So you have to break those cycles and make sure that whatever cycles, and I would go as far as saying negative cycles because you can have good, healthy, cycles but breaking the negative cycles is very, very vital. You know. because breaking cycles explore how accepting responsibility creates empowerment. See, while victim thinking creates stagnation, It ain't help. It ain't healthy, it ain't worthy for you, it ain't gonna get you anywhere. See, because. Countability feels heavy. but it's actually freedom. See, most people don't want to unmask theyself because if you created a pattern, If you created a pattern, you can change a pattern. It's like ABC's is 1, 2, 3. Victim thinking removes responsibility, but also removes power. Is that not right? I mean, y'all tell me, because I don't know it all, but I tell you this though, I've read this book and this book changed my life. It changed my perspective to make me see things in a different light. Bye. on YouTube, you know, because I do constant scrolling and you know, and sometimes I had to catch myself because it's like I become in a car so across a lot of mindless content. But I have to be on social media to be able to see what's trending, see what's going on. see what I see that's interesting and intriguing to me so I can come and have a conversation to be able to do these podcasts. So I saw that two people lose a job. One says life is unfair. The other says, what can I learn? Five years later? And this is, this, sometime I post these things. Like it's giving me the chills. Five years later, their lives look completely different. See, that's because one had the victim mentality and the other one took accountability. They say psychologists refer to that? as Lucas of control. Individuals without internal Lucas believe that they influence outcome, leading to higher achievement, resilience compared to those with the external Lucas. There was a movie called Lucas about a young man in high school and he wasn't the strongest. He wasn't the most handsomest. He was a nerd. He was puny, but he was smart. But he had the ability because he believed he could change the outcome and he never played the victim. And there was one time in the movie where he did. Man, this is why I'm an eighties baby and I'm different. because this was a great movie. And it's crazy when I read this because Lucas of control, individuals with the internal Lucas believed that they can influence outcomes leading to higher achievement and resilience compared to those with the internal, I'm sorry, external Lucas who don't believe it. And this is why he, this guy in this movie, Lucas, his name was Lucas. And it's crazy because there's a bug called Lucas. And I remember he was always chasing this chick. ⁓ Back in the 80s movies, was like always, you know, the nerd trying to get the hot chick, you know. He ended up realizing that he didn't need her. when he had the opportunity in the tunnel when he finally got her to actually kiss her. He ain't need her because he believed in himself. He could do anything. This is why reflection creates transformation. When you reflect on you. Daily reflection practices can be healthy. If you create a pattern, a healthy pattern, a healthy cycle of daily reflection practices, this could work. Journaling and self analysis, being able to evaluate yourself. what you do right, what you do wrong, what you wanna do, what you wanna avoid. And having, most importantly, the mindset shift. Because if that mindset isn't shift because of all the warped things that you were used to doing in the past, it's still there, it's not gonna work. It's not gonna work. You're not gonna get anywhere. You know, all it is provides practical tools. You see what I'm saying? Which you can use to start reflecting immediately and improving your life. I'm doing it. I'ma make sure it's done, cause I wanna be better. I need to be better for me. So when I leave and I perish from this earth, I could feel like I've crossed all my T's, dotted all my I's. Reflecting. 100 % Because reflection doesn't require perfection. You don't have to be perfect. It requires honesty with yourself. And you can ask yourself daily. What did I do? What did I react emotionally? Where did I react emotionally? What could I improve tomorrow? It's not difficult. It's practical. It's practical. Small awareness creates massive change over time. How can you be different? See, athletes watch game film to improve performance. They say that journaling has been shown to improve emotional regulation, reduce stress, and increase, I'm sorry, continent processing by organizing thoughts and experiences and coherent narrative. Why? And these are just my footnotes. If you like doing yourself. Your life changes the moment you ask. The moment you stop asking. I'm sorry. Why is this happening to me? and start asking, what is this teaching me about me? See, nobody want to learn about themselves because it's painful. It's dangerous. It's dealing with me. It's me dealing with my own bullshit. wants to deal with that. But you got to. That's what's gonna make you stronger. When you can look at yourself and you be like, man, hold on. I've been wearing this mask for so long to impress who? Need to press nobody. Because they need to deal with their own bullshit. because the longest relationship you will ever have is with yourself. So learn yourself, understand yourself, forgive yourself, improve yourself, and watch your world transform. If this episode resonated with you, share it with someone who needed reflection in their life, and subscribe to the Again and True Podcast. Where growth becomes legacy.
