درباره این اپیزود
On the intermediate Shabbat of Sukkot, we read Kohelet - Ecclesiastes - traditionally attributed to King Solomon and one of the Biblical books scholars call Wisdom Literature.
Kohelet can be difficult, provocative, and sometimes unsettling. But again and again, Solomon stops us with remarkably practical wisdom about how to live: appreciate what you have while you have it, don't waste the days you are given, and pay attention to the kind of person you are becoming.
Today we look closely at several of those verses. None offers a complicated philosophy. Instead, they remind us of truths about life we probably already know - and somehow keep forgetting.
Michael Whitman is the senior rabbi of ADATH Congregation in Hampstead, Quebec, and an adjunct professor at McGill University Faculty of Law. ADATH is a modern orthodox synagogue community in suburban Montreal, providing Judaism for the next generation. We take great pleasure in welcoming everyone with a warm smile, while sharing inspiration through prayer, study, and friendship.
Rabbi Whitman shares his thoughts and inspirations through online lectures and shiurim, which are available on:
