Mike opens the second hour of The Restaurant Show with road-trip advice through southern Colorado, including the Cumbres & Toltec Scenic Railroad, San Luis and the historic Stations of the Cross. He then breaks some major restaurant news as Chicken Salad Chick begins opening its Colorado locations on Sundays, while also covering the chain’s rapid national expansion, new Culver’s menu items and changes at Ivywild School. Mike continues his countdown of America’s top foodie cities, with stops ranging from Miami and Las Vegas to Denver, San Antonio and Pittsburgh, and explains why dining should be part of the travel experience. The hour takes a dramatic turn when author Bob Drury joins the show to discuss The Phantom, the true story of Marine Pierre “Pete” Ortiz and his extraordinary missions behind Nazi lines during World War II. From restaurant trends and travel ideas to military history and remarkable true stories, the hour covers plenty of ground.
