The Washington Commanders are 0-2, Jayden Daniels is out with another dislocated left elbow, and the defending Super Bowl champion Seattle Seahawks are coming to Washington for the home opener.
On today’s Commanders Squad, Nick Ashooh, Anthony Armstrong and David Harrison break down everything we know about Daniels’ injury, what it means for his return timeline and how Washington moves forward with Marcus Mariota at quarterback.
Daniels suffered the injury on the final play of the first half against the Dallas Cowboys after stumbling and trying to brace himself with his left arm. It’s the same elbow he injured last season. Initial X-rays showed no fracture, but Daniels has been meeting with specialists and Dan Quinn has not given a timetable for his return.
Now the Commanders have to figure out how to save their season without QB1.
We break down:
• The latest on Jayden Daniels’ elbow injury and what we actually know about his recovery
• Whether Washington needs to be more cautious after Daniels injured the same elbow last season
• Marcus Mariota taking over the offense and what has to change without Daniels
• The Commanders’ growing injury problems, including Sam Cosmi, Frankie Luvu, Chig Okonkwo and Javon Kinlaw appearing on the Week 3 injury report
• Why starting 0-2 puts even more pressure on Dan Quinn and the Commanders
• Washington’s Week 3 home opener against the 2-0 defending Super Bowl champion Seattle Seahawks
• Seattle’s quarterback situation with Sam Darnold working his way back and Drew Lock playing well in his absence
• Stefon Diggs, Terry McLaurin and the weapons Washington needs to lean on with Mariota at quarterback
• The NFC East after New York Giants QB Jaxson Dart suffered a serious knee injury that will require season-ending surgery
• Jameis Winston taking over in New York and what the changing NFC East picture means for Washington
Can the Commanders survive without Jayden Daniels and get their first win of the season against Seattle, or is Washington already digging a hole that will be difficult to escape?
