Washington Capitals face a pressing goalie dilemma as Logan Thompson’s heavy workload (58 games last season) raises urgent questions: who backs him up when he can't play? Cal Petersen’s surprising PTO signals management’s desire for depth, but is it enough insurance as Charlie Lindgren rebounds from his worst Capitals season and Clay Stevenson challenges for a larger NHL role?
Dan Holmi scrutinizes the trust gap between Lindgren and Stevenson, dissects Stevenson’s breakout season with the Hershey Bears, and weighs the risks if Thompson goes down. With development, contracts, and playoff ambitions colliding, every training camp decision—and preseason performance—could reshape the Capitals’ 2024-25 outlook. Will Stevenson seize the backup role, or can Lindgren silence the doubters and reclaim his form? Don’t miss this deep dive into Washington’s most pivotal roster battle.
